💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

A great educational tool. I’m an IT professional with a strong history interest and this app is great.

LawlessGem93. Watch out! The games are all in English, not latin.

Nice!. I like this dictionary very much. If it had pronunciation, I will give it 5 stars since pronouncing Latin is difficult. Very nice otherwise!

Outstanding. Whizzing through Boethius in the Loeb. I’m 60 and the last time I studied Latin was 12 or 13. Thanks Collins.

Like access to word origin info. I wish it had a widget to encourage a word per day for the young ones

Worth the Money!. Highly recommended!

Bona Fide!. Salve.

REMOVE ANNOYING RATING/REVIEW PROMPT!!!. Please remove that annoying review prompt. We've purchased app. Make this something we can turn off in settings. We should not be 'annoyed into' writing reviews!

Collins Latin Dictionary. A standard Latin dictionary that you can always have with you. What could be better? When you wonder what the root is, wonder no more. Constantly improve your status as a literate person! SPQR or not, as the case might be! Works well, no glitches, not designed for a scholar doing a translation but for an educated person reading through life. I’ve had one on my shelf for decades, getting the mobile version is a no-brainer. (Have to figure out the Latin for that one...)

One of a kind. Makes Latin fun just like when I first was learning the basics😊

English hangman only. I don't understand why you have hangman and word scramble doing English words only. I know English, want to learn latin. So pretty useless. It's those I bought this app for. Dictionary itself is OK but expensive, I already had one just as good for cheaper.

Socius Cōnstāns. With several dozen works in Latin on my phone for those times I am away from real books, Collins Latin Dictionary is a great help.

Utilis. Verborum thesaurus amo et odi

good!. This app is really fast and easy to use!

Bad app. Bad

Collin's. Very well done!

Latin Dictionary. It is great and keeps me on my toes with the daily vocabulary check.

Used Often. Good, straightforward dictionary

Good stuff. Wish it included the definitions i The dictionary

Worth the money. A good basic dictionary.

Good app. This is a good app, but it would better if the setting could be changed so Latin comes up first, rather than English.

Decent dictionary with room for improvement. It’s a decent dictionary, the layout is good, however it is pretty annoying that the translation order keeps switching to English - Latin. I often want to translate from Latin only, but after few words it switches automatically to English words. I hope they fix it. Also we can’t put the words in favorite in one click, so that’s not convenient. They should also add more Latin phrases in examples.

Love this Dictionary!. I'm very interested in languages and this one is a keeper for sure!

Bare bones. Useful. I'd love guidance as to usage, etymology, links to declension/conjugation

Great resource!. Absolutely worth the price x2 for latin students and teachers alike!

It's good.. It works now.

Bonum est. I enjoy using this handy resource. I’m glad there’s an app for the Latin language.

Nice app but currently broken for iOS 4. A fine app, but my main purpose in writing this review is simply to notify Collins that the app is currently broken and unusable in iOS 4 -- it won't start. So -- please fix this bug.

Great application!. I truly enjoy the word of the day alert. It stimulates a brain that is very lazy. The dictionary is great but a phrase or two using the word word be most appreciated. Great word checker for definition, clarification of various usage. A fact checker that is reliable in the age of ignorance and deceit.

Great dictionary. Particularly good flash card setup for retaining new vocabulary

Poorly designed. Says same word of day every day.. Poorly designed. Was better when first came out. Now updated version has really bad colors. With io15.5 poor design and constant flaws it is this app or iOS. iOS 15.5 is horrible. Word of day keeps coming up as Adventus. Please fix. Everyday same word. How is this normal? Used to work.

Great for students. I'm a student of Latin, currently teaching myself Latin 2 as prepartion for more advanced courses. My old latin dictionary was falling apart and it would normally cost me $10 to get one from the bookstore. Same price, but I like this one much better. Pros: -several search options, and includes both Eng-Lat and Lat-Eng -random word selector, great for expanding one's vocabulary -includes macrons -intuitive interface -bookmarks, very awesome -more than thorough enough for students Cons: -no accent marks (though for me that's a plus) -no pronunciation key (understandable for latin, since pronunciation depends on the time period, but it would still be nice to have something) -only displays all principal parts in Lat-Eng mode (but if you tap the word, it will bring you to the page with the principal parts) -may not be as thorough as, say, the oxford dictionary Bottom line: This is a 5 star study app for the student of Latin. I have no regrets about spending my money on this app as opposed to a normal dictionary. I can't say it'll contain as many words as the oxford dictionary, but even for the zealous student, there's plenty here to be had, and having search and bookmark capabilities makes it well worth it ;)

Average. Where are the conjugations????

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS APP!. Do not waste your money on this app. I tried downlaoding this app several times without success. Save your money.

Good for Students, English to Latin. If you're a student in first or second year, this might be all the dictionary you need. It is not at all intimidating, and is easy to use, giving potential words to choose from as you begin typing, straightforward definitions, one or two word indications of context, and some simple idioms. Also, if you want an English to Latin dictionary, this is OK- better than the other alternatives I've seen. It's basic, but points you in the right direction. For composition, it's best used in tandem with a serious dictionary like Logeion (free), which gives you complexity and context, but not English to Latin, and will flesh out the simple equivalents suggested by Collins. For the more serious or advanced student, I wouldn't bother with the Latin to English; there is not enough information, let alone examples, to give you a real sense of a word's usage, potential meanings, and idiom.

Expensive for no reason. Good app. Love the word of the day feature. Confused as to why it’s so expensive when there are free Latin dictionaries that factor in declensions/conjugations instead of just the first principle part.

Good but could be better. Audio pronunciation would be great

Shamefully bad. An expensive app, the Collins Latin Dictionary provides less information and less usability than the .99 apps. It is inexcusably inadequate, and its advertising claims border on the fraudulent--especially considering its 9.99 price. No more than a word list, a basic glossary, it lacks all the traditional apparatus of a professionally prepared dictionary: no examples, incomplete entries, no charts or tables or lists. Astonishingly, its extra features, games & such, are in English--no help at all for learning Latin. This is a badly--no, cynically--produced reference that would be overpriced at any price.

Quick, Easy, and Useful. Pros: Quicker than using the book, cheaper than the book, good selection of definitions, includes macrons. Con: At the moment, it does not seem to work with iOS 4. After installing iOS 4, the app stopped working on my iPhone and iPod Touch. It will open and then immediately closes. Hopefully, a fix is on the way because this is a very useful app.

$15 for this?. I paid $15 for what was called the “best Latin dictionary out there” for students. This thing is the BARE MINIMUM. Barely any information at all. Ridiculous.

Mobi system's abusive "rate the app" pop-up. I have four paid dictionary apps, some were quite expensive, which have been taken over by this company. Each one now has a "rate the app" pop-up that blocks the screen and gives you only two options: "not now" or "rate 5 stars". Unless you rate this app five stars, this pop-up will continue to appear. Do not purchase, Collins Latin, Oxford Hackett French, Oxford Paravia Italian, or Oxford Duden German apps if you think this is abusive.

Overpriced and by a great margin. It only appears to be a useful dictionary until you make the mistake of purchasing it. It’s a featureless word listing. For this price one would expect declension and conjugation info. It does give the principal parts of verbs but that’s it. Easily the biggest waste of $10.00 I ever made. Okay, $9.99.

Do not buy. Both a very poor quality app and Latin dictionary!

Limited vocabulary. Very limited number of words. Of the first 20 words I tried to look up, I only found 5. Common words like Kyrie and eleison from the latin mass are not to be found.

Adequate. This is still the basically adequate and compact Latin dictionary that carried me through much of grad school -- not because it was exceptionally thorough, but because it was good enough, for the most part, and in its print form was very compact and light. That restriction really no longer obtains, when one can get a Lewis and Short for the iPhone or iPad, or the whole complex of things that is Logeion from University of Chicago, which is formidably useful. This does allow fairly easy English-to-Latin lookup, which most of the more scholarly tools do not. This does continue to contain one error that has been there for as long as I can remember -- at least for the last fifty years -- that is duly inherited from the print edition. It cites lumen, -inis as masculine. It's not: it's neuter. A check of any other reputable Latin dictionary will confirm that fact, and there are countless attestations of the neuter plural lumina. With that caveat, it's not a bad little dictionary.

Has a bug. This dictionary is ok but it crashes when using the bookmarks.

Latin Review. Would give 5 stars if you actually had a recorded Correct pronunciation of the word

¡ SEMPRE FERE !. Basically, “almost always” USEFULLY!

Great app. Thanks for the excellent app!

Joseph. Would be nice to have sentence example, declensions, conjugations would be nice. Also list as infinite and first person indicative for verbs so look up in either form. But nice. I use all the time.

Latin dictionary. Excellent resource to hav on hand.

Hi. Where’s my Latin dictionary???

Great Little Dictionary. I keep my phone next to Me while I am reading or writing Latin. The app just gives you the nominative, Genitive, gender and several definitions. It doesn't Bog you down. All definitions are in Modern English. And it does English to Latin too. Jacobulus

Basic. Every time you open this app a modal popup attempts to solicit a 5-star review. Not only is this annoyance unbecoming of a paid app, but the app emphatically does not deserve five stars. The Latin entries do not show inflections and it is not possible to search by inflected forms. This is a major drawback for an inflected language such as Latin. Also the entries for English verbs contain hyperlinks to Latin present active infinitives, but the Latin verbs are organised by first-person singular, which means the links don't work! And in any case they are very hard to click on. Also I find it quite cumbersome to switch between English and Latin searches. Why not just show results from either language? This app feels like it was not designed with Latin in mind.

Handy, but could be better.. A handy app which is reliable and easy to use. However, no clear indication of the declension / conjugation is disppointing. If I was good at Latin and able to work this out, I wouldn't need the dictionary in the first place!

Bad update. The new design changes from two panels on the screen to one, meaning that you will need to keep going back an forth. Completely unhelpful for an iPad.

Poor reference book. I have several Collins dictionaries. The modern language editions (Italian, French, German) are much better, though the price is the same. They are better because they offer very sophisticated help in the form of full paradigms. The Latin dictionary by contrast is pretty basic. Collins should do better

Useful Dictionary, but Limited. This dictionary is useful for Latin-English and English-Latin translation. It gives the standard forms of nouns and adjectives and the principal parts of verbs. However, unlike the cheaper 'Latin Lexicon Dictionary' (an offline version of Latin Wiktionary), it does not give full declensions and conjugations. The Collins does tend to give more comprehensive definitions. I recommend both of these apps as they are complementary. Il Latino (Le Monnier) is a fantastic app if you happen to have reasonable Italian, and of course SPQR (Paul Hudson) has a wealth of material and functions including Lewis and Short's Dictionary.

No thought given to accessibility for the blind. The developers of this app have given no consideration to the needs of blind users. It cannot be navigated using Voice Over: the pane that shows the definition is completely opaque as far as Voice Over is concerned.

I Love my Collins Latin Dictionary. I love my Collins Latin Dictionary and use it along with my English Dictionary Oxford

It’s ok but…. I have several of the other Collins dictionaries and the modern language ones have many more features - the verb charts for every verb are especially useful. The Latin dictionary is very basic though, and I would recommend a regular book dictionary as the electronic one doesn’t add value.

Good. Awesomeness maximus

High price. Definitely think there could be improvements. Audio would be good and more background info when it comes to word distinctions. A learner isn't going to know what to choose when there are three or four words that don't have the same nuances in English. Seems to give odd variants for common every day words.

Useful little App. English to Latin & Latin to English (modern English) simply achieved. A very useful tool and while an app can almost always have more this one has a good mix of the necessities for such a dictionary.

Love the new interface!. New interface is looking pretty good. Searching for words (both English to Latin / Latin to English) is seamless and easy to understand. It would be good to see in future iterations of the app to be able to search based on noun/adjective declensions also

A good app. The price is very high, but the app is very good. There is not many apps for Latin, but this one would be the best out of the Latin apps I was looking out.

‘Word of the day’ has Alzheimer’s!. This is a good basic dictionary - all the better for being an app. It has a word of the day feature which for the past six days has been the same word - orphan. Yes, I am an orphan but don’t need this dumb Dictionary to remind me every morning. Fix it or I’ll delete the damn app.

Learn with fun. Good dictionary which includes common phrases and idioms in the definition; well presented; fun play with Hangman and other games. Also has Word of the Day. I don’t know when I will get to use “dolium” (hogshead) but I am happy I now know it.

iPhone 5?. Needs iphone 5 compatibility

No nonsense Latin-English Dictionary!. This app delivers as promised and has been an essential part of my language learning. My only complaint is that the Word of the Day feature occasionally doesn’t link up (I.e. click on the word and it sometimes takes you to a totally different word and definition). Glitchy gimmicks aside, it’s worth the money!

Excellent. Overall a useful Latin app that complements my other dictionaries.

Good. Good basic latin English dictionary
