Solid Dictionary. My only disappointment was the word scramble game appears to be English only. Would love to have it in Irish.

This is the [expletive deleted] you get when you fix something that wasn’t broken.. From the crisp, easy to use interface offered formerly, the developers managed to create a needlessly busy and less visually distinct interface that offers nothing more of consequence in return. I now hate this app so much that I have been inspired to write my first review of any app ever. I wish that I had never purchased this app and will now buy the print equivalent from any source other than Collins.

Collins Pocket Irish Dictionary V 6.1. The new interface is not as intuitive, nor as easy to use as previous versions. The back button whips you all the way to the opening page instead of going to your previous search item, A retrograde step for an otherwise excellent tool.

Perfect. I have had this app for years and I continue to use it regularly. It is an excellent dictionary and as an app it is always on hand.

Best Irish dictionary out there. Took me a long time to find something this well built for Irish, which is usually underserved compared to other languages. Highly recommended!

Not bad. It is a bit expensive but comes from a known publisher. Better definitions and examples than the only decent online dictionary. This version could use declension and conjugation tables like the book version. Maybe in an update.

Great Irish to English. This is a great app for Irish to English as I’m learning. It has a lot of great features but is lacking in examples. I wish I could combine it with foclóir.ie. I would get both and the. You have a five star system.

Words are fun. Collins makes even a dictionary fun with games (Hangman), Word of the Day, and other neat stuff.

My Everyday Go-To. As my heading states, this is my everyday ‘go-to’ dictionary for Irish language learning. It is functional and intuitive without a ponderous amount of unnecessary crap. I really appreciate the inclusions of words demonstrated idiomatically - very helpful. The one request I would ask of the publishers in the future would be the addition of sound clips of the words spoken by native speakers.

Good reference - needs pronounciation. Please developers, add pronunciation to the Irish dictionary! This language needs help and hearing how the word sounds by different native accents/dialects would be a great addition. Is it hard to take subtitles and video and pull out the words or a sentence and stick that with the definition - where the audio is the word used in some random sentence. Would be hard to get clean data but I’m sure you could pay for a pronunciation database or something...

Le do thoil, change back to a visually appealing interface. Two things: 1) the dictionary alone I would rate 5, it has been and will continue to be incredibly useful, the best one i'v seen/used (Go raibh maith agat), 2) while I recognize aesthetics are deeply personal, the new interface for me is so visually distracting (pale blue ... really? ..) that I have to force myself to use the app (Níl áthas orm:-( Since functionally this app is still the best, I still give it a 5.

The translation is on the tip of my finger. I love having the ease of translating Irish onto English and the reverse at the tip of my fingers. This app comes in handy and is very easy to use. I use it all the time when I need to know what an Irish word means.

Helpful & informative. Word a day learning the language & so much more than just a dictionary.

Not so good. This app is very expensive and doesn't contain enough words to make it worth it. There is a 'english irish translator' which is much more usefull for .99. This is one of the most expensive apps, where an online link would have worked better. Don't waste your money.

Love the flashcard function. It's really helpful, especially for words I frequently look up. Plus the app is easy to use and navigate.

No pronunciation!. Don't spend your money on this dictionary. It does not include pronunciation. A couple of free ones do. Get those! Very disappointed!!!

Free iPad upgrade!. When a lot of companies are making you buy the iPad app separate from the iPhone app, it's nice that this dictionary had a free upgrade! It seems like a very simple app, but the more I use it, the more I like it. It's not obvious at first, but you can tap on any word in the definition and it will go to *its* definition. Very handy for narrowing down exact meanings for subtly different words. It gives parts of speech, which is necessary ("gift" and "bat" can be a verb or a noun; the translation may be different depending on its part of speech). Good selection of words; you don't have to have a live Internet connection for it to work. That's handy.

Go hIontach!. Very good resource for both beginners and more experienced learners of Irish.

Very Disappointing. Current version remains a disappointment. 1. The full Irish - English listing of words still hasn’t been restored. You can’t just browse... you have to specify a single word for the software to translate. This feature was available in an earlier version. Half the fun of dictionaries resides in the browsing. Senseless to remove this capability unless the real “vision” was to spur the sale of paper copies as well. 2. Why why are the words not linked to an audio file of the pronunciation at least for the Gaelige words? Hire one of the News presenters from TG4! Irish pronunciation for native English language speakers is incredibly difficult. Have some vision and daring in design! 3. Developers: Respond to comments... Apple has provided the capability.

Leprechaun approved!. Great dictionary for the price, lists a decent amount of entries and examples. Everything basic you need to learn Irish Gaelic. Still, I would like conjugations for verbs and declensions for nouns and adjectives (if possible).

Vocal. This app is great for translating words but I really really wish it had vocal option so you know how the word is pronounced too. It would be the perfect app if it had this.

New version 8.1. This new iPad version is almost as good as the first version 5.0 and is vastly better than the previous version. The only criticism I have is the Aa icon should be replaced by the History/Recent icon. I never, and most users, will change the font size; however, I frequently use history/recent especially when studying vocabulary or working my way through a novel. The iPhone version should replace the ... icon with the History/Recent icon?

Good reliable Resource. It works, quickly and covers the vocabulary so you can get back to reading or writing.

This app now works well with ios4. An update for this app became available today july 1. Performs well, as good as before, so disregard my previous comments below. Thank you developers. AD Beware. This dictionary app may not work with os4. I upgraded my iPhone only to find that this dictionary no longer works. I have received no response to two message requests for support. Have others fared better?

Great app, does the job, but room for improvement. Great app, has everything a regular dictionary can give you. Word of the day is awesome. I use the flash cards all the time, but the developers could do with making those extra features a bit more interactive and easier to use like other apps like Duolingo.

But with a silly little complaint. Not worth of a rating reduction, it’s a great app. Βut why in the theme colour settings is there no green?
