Gold Miner Joe Game Reviews

The crowning jewel of Donut Games. DG has released a number of addicting games (Spikey Bounce, Rat on Run), but none of them quite measure up to this one. Ironically, though, it takes place underground! It's got a lot to do, and often humerous sound effects (ie- "hehe! Extra life!!). I'd like to see maybe a level editor in the future. But aside from that, this game is worth every penny.

All I can say is, I Want More Levels!. I loved it! I wish there were more levels even though there are 50! For the 99 cents, it was worth it. Me, my sister, and my brother all have it and they love it too! You should get the game because it is my favorite!

Addicting game. Time after time you keep playing advancing to the next level, very much worth the buck$

Needs a difficulty option. Hey doughnut games please add a difficulty button because some levels are so hard to complete and also please make it so joe has more lives like maybe 4 instead of 2 (even though there are extra lives in the game that give you 2 extra tries in the game. Overall the game is very fun to play.

Controls. This is an awesome game although the controls can be quite frustrating, just make the controls like the rat on the run game!

Really Cool Game. About time someone creates a unique cool game. I like it, because its not your average game, its different. Its like Mario Brothers mixed in with Donky Kong combo. love the little voices too........lol

One of the best games on the iPod. It's like Mario with a twist, I was hooked on the lite version and I just had to have it. I was expecting it to be about $5, and i was shocked how cheap it was, and it has tons of levels! The controls were frustrating at first but once you start to get the hang of it you relize that that it is very suited for this type of game. Try out the lite version first(make sure to give the controls a chance) and then get the full version before they wake up and start to charge $4-$6 dollers for it!

Great. Are you kidding me amazing game!! 99 cents pocket change! Levels just as good second time through! Hours of game play what's not to like. New controls for those that didn't like the original!

Lot of Fun. This one took me by surprise. It's a lot of fun once you get the hang of the unique control scheme. Hold to move in that direction. Swipe up to jump. Little pressure changes with your fingers seem to have intuitive effects on Joe. Lot of levels to keep you involved. New enemies and things to do all the time. Definitely a winner, and inexpensive to boot.

Good for 99 cents. Fun, but the only challenge is mastering the controls. Couldn't get the little bugger to jump the way I wanted him to even after 40 levels. Creators seemed to get bored after making the first level, as nothing changes from level to level- same monsters, same ground, ropes, fire... Most levels had virtually no challenge and required zero strategy to win. Anyway, kept me entertained, and for 99 cents, can't go wrong!

Donut games. R THE v.v.v. best! :). Can't wait for more. Only trouble is can't stop playing to get sleep. Buy all there games, they are Awsome.

Get this game!. Gold Miner Joe for the iPhone and iPod Touch was ported from the PC. In this game, you are Joe and your  job is to get the gold from the mines and fighting your way through the obstacles in your path (including an angry gorilla). There are signposts with the "?" sign that guide you through the game, offering tips and advice so you won't get lost. Game controls consist of swipe, flick and tap. Swiping generally gets you where you want to go, while flicking upwards helps you jump up easily. Tapping repeatedly releases stones that wipe out your enemies. The absence of a d-pad maybe a problem to some as the reviews on the App Store have pointed out, but the game controls just need a bit of getting used to. And who doesn't want their platform game to be a bit more challenging? Get it now! :-)

Buy it!. Hey peeps! This is a gr8 game & I totally recommend it. All the Donut Games are good, & this 1 is no exception. It is challenging & sometimes hard, but it can get very addicting. It's worth the money.

Gold Miner Joe. I love this game. It can be aggravating at times but I can't seem to stop playing it. I am having a hard time with level 10 right now, but that is the fun of it. Wish you could get rid of the bats.

Entertaining to say the least. Donut's does it again. You guys have the greatest 99 cent apps... Keep it up. I'll keep buying.

Mario rating. I liked game on iPod Touch but screen was way too small to perform functions and see what I was doing at the same time. The more difficult levels simply got too difficult on that small screen. Have ipad2 now and it is much easier. Functionality is great otherwise.

Good game.. Love the game, only two things I don't like are: the extra lives don't carry over defeating the whole purpose of the check point flags. The controls are good but some areas need a D-Pad.

I found all gems. I know every location hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha

Cute retro miner game. The D-pad is available in the options menu - but you have to swipe to scroll down and find it. I played the game a bit with the swipe controls and found them lacking. It is too easy to set off dynamite or do precision running/jumping with the standard swipe controls. I've noticed a bit of lag/responsiveness in the control system when there are more than a few moving objects on the screen on a 1st Gen touch. Not a deal breaker but annoying none the less. Graphically the objects are a bit small but reminicent of some of the old school platform games. The music is cute but repeats every third level or so. Overall I'd give this 3 1/2 stars but since this is not an option I'll give it four -- simply for the addition of the D-pad.

FRUSTRATING. This would be a nice game but the controls need to change. They r absolutely horrible and have caused me to throw my iPod at the wall because they r so frickin frustrating. Unless they change the controls, don't buy this game. Go buy something else with your dollar please. Ok I've warned u, don't blame me if u break your iPod from throwing it in frustration of the controls in this game :)

Peregrinefalconflyer2. GOLD MINER JOE IS THE FUNNEST!!! But the controls are so hard to use. I was about to collect the last piece of gold in shaft 10 I was trying to jump over fire but it wouldn't work then it just automatically went right and I lost! Plz make it better and I will give 5 stars.

Gold-miner Joe. I like the game. It can be frustrating at times like any other game. My biggest complaint is that when I pass a check point and the white flag is raised I don't start at that point if I loose my man. If it would do this like it is supposed to I would give the game 5 stars.

This isn't even a video game. This is a frustration simulator. Want to duck, joe goes down a ladder, want to go down a ladder, joe will duck... Want to live, well too bad because joe will either jump off of a cliff or blow himself up with dynamite. Thank you for the the hair loss joe, I would tell you to jump off a cliff but unfornuately that is the only thing you really seem to want to do

The Best!!. Love this game!! Played it ten years ago when it was fresh on iPod! Redone loaded and just reminiscing 😊 always fantastic, Donut Games ❤️

Cute and fun!. Everyone is crazy about the controls. It works just fine, maybe even better than a d-pad. I basically bought this game to say thnx for the free games this weekend. Love your guys style, really like Lucky Coins. I wish all yr games had Open Feint, tho!

Impressed!. I really enjoyed this game! Some levels were difficult, but held my attention... The guy shooting at u is hilarious!

Can't pass level 10!!. It's really hard to pass the grey shaft #10.

Ok but.... I have this on my PC but this version is different... If you earn extra lives you can't keep them for future levels like on the PC. Also the controls are sketchy pls fix!

Totally worth it :). Awesome game!!! Challenging, yet not possible. The dpad is the best control system, an I like finding the gems and stuff. Deffffinately worth a buck :)

Good game but need realistic controls. It is hard to control the playerjust touching the screen make the character jump. Luv a game like this for DS or PSP. Suggestion: make hotspots for controls on the screen like expose on macOS.

Fun but.... This game is way too fun but it is very easy. It needs more levels.

Keeps You Entertained!!!. When I first got this game, I got it as the lite version. I got so addicted to playing it, that I bought it. Hey it was only .99 and that's not bad compared to all the levels they got..I would hardly get any sleep playing this game..despite getting use to working the controls..that could be a hassle sometimes..but besides not knowing how to beat level 10 almost before you hit the congratulations level...it's a fun game.!!! Worth $.99

Thanks Donut Games. I didn’t grow up speaking English so I could watch all the other shows kids grew up watching. I grew up playing this game and I’m so excited I found it again. Incredibly nostalgic.

Great port of the gold miner joe. This is a really good port of the pocket pc/palm game gold miner joe The controls are good once you set it to dpad It has added saving which the palm and pocket pc version didn't feature You should really get this game

Loads of fun!. Great graphics and loads of fun. I only wish there were more clues to some of the extra point "holes", but that's a quibble.

Gold Miner Joe. I think its great, a little slow sometimes but just the kind of game I like. Wish there were more like it and Gold Rush.

Could be better. Another app that is dependent on less than stellar controls. Even with the new D-pad this game can be an exercise in frustration. And while I'm at it.... Why can't they design these games so that I can scroll around and see the whole senario??? Is it that difficult to do???

Good app. I love donut games and this app is so good with decent levels but why is everyone complaining about the d pad just go to options and change it alltogether reminds me of my game boy

Ok. Game is ok, not a bad platformer but the controls are very frustrating at times and hard to use. A keypad would be nice similar to gameboy layout and would make controls so much easier

check points dont work. I really like the game but find it harder than it should be because the check points dont work. When i die i have to restart the entire level.

Pretty good so far! :). It really is a case of so far so good :) I'm a bit of a slow learner on some games and in this one my own hand gets in the way as the little guy moves kinda slowly but apart from that it's still a good little game. Still desperately trying to find a game similar to gold rush though!

missing the flag.... The games are great but when you miss all you life.The flag is not working when you're passing by. Because when you die, you go back to the beginning and not at the flag up. This situation should be corrected!

Donut Games Hits Gold!. A wonderful, addicting app and one of the best of Donut Games! I love the gameplay but not so much the controls. But all in all, this game deserves a five star rating. Keep up the good work guys!
