Guitarist 213. I love this app! So much better than going to the planetarium. You point and you find. Within seconds of using it I found Jupiter. Looked up in the sky and there it is. Look through my binoculars even saw the moons. Saw many star constellations! I want to visible to us and them all over the entire universe. Works in real time. No Wi-Fi is necessary. You can go in to any date in the last 2000 years. And see how things have changed. There's three different modes. Planetary model uses your own positioning. Then you can use another mold where you can see where every location. I love the 3-D mold. Where are youcan go to any planet including the earth and the moon! And you can see everything from their perspective. Well you can rotate the planets and see the constellations and planets etc, from their perspective. Very accurate. My wife and I went outside using it recently. She loved it it made for a great conversations and intimacy.

Simple and Plain Yet Amazing App. This is a simple plain looking astronomy and planetarium app using stick figure constellation. If you want a pretty looking display get the star chart app. Both of these apps is like having a personal planetarium.

Direction is off 180 degrees. I like this app but just recently it has N/E/S/W direction is off by 180 degrees! The app is almost worthless with this bug.

The stars. Iv seen other apps that give better pictures but you can move the screen by sliding this one let’s you know the location and by not sliding the screen around let you really get to know stars a little better and how amazing it is that people without today’s technology understood it and this app lets you do that

Awesome. It takes some getting used to, but it's very accurate. I have learned several constellations with it, but what I like the best is being able to locate planets! I stared at Saturn a lot this week.

Best star gazing ap. This ap is worth the small amt. It's always updated and will define the heavens whenever you are outside and gazing upward and outward. Great accuracy and amazing ability to map exactly what you are seeing. I've been using it for two years now after night runs to cool down and I learn new stars after each run

Super cool!. My 6-year-old daughter just learned about the moon and planets at school. Now, we use this app to identify planets and stars. Amazing feeling, as a mom, to see your child get so excited while learning!

Not bad. It's not a bad app for someone who wants a general idea of what's above them. I doubt if it's for the more experienced star watchers, but great for showing the kids what's out there in the sky or just for recreation.... Like the meteor shower info it's pretty accurate but can be intimidating when trying to figure out all the options. Definatly needs a user manual or instructions to help ease of use

Holy crap moment. Been sitting at my camp fire with my wife for 32 yrs looking at the stars every week. Downloaded app at the fire last night in a clear sky and when we lifted up the phone to see the sky charts we both said "holy crap". Also love the horizon line and viewing of stars beyond the horizon !

A bright discovery!. At first I was turned off by this app's price but when I actually started using it outside at night I found it to be worth every cent. The insightful information is helpful and I feel I have an intelligent guide I can use outside. Perfect if you're interested in constellations. =)

Phenomenal!. I needed an app that had angles for my astronomy class, ended up paying a dollar for that stupid night sky one and it didn't give ANY info. Don't waste your money, this one works and the 3D modeling is fun!

A neat little app. Does what it says. It is cool to fly around in space and see constellations from perspectives they were never intended to be viewed from. Could use a better 3D interface though.

Good but could be better. I've noticed that the stars and planets aren't where the phone thinks they are. It seems something might be wrong with the compass or something. Plus, I can't find the little dipper on the map, I know where it is in the sky it just doesn't appear on the map. A couple of tweaks and it'll be a 5 star app for sure.

This is my favorite star map of all!!!. My mother and I have been amateur astronomers forever and love tracking the night sky. This is the best app I’ve used to help us. It concisely gives all the information I have ever been curious about and is easy to read, navigate, and make sense of. I tried three other star guides in addition to this one, and they failed me and are not used. THIS App, is a favorite of mine I and recommend it all of the time. Pick this one.

Like what J. Bloom(astronomy teacher)said. With the manual button on the screen now and how it has a 3D view it makes it a little better than Star Walk. With the price being free, it just got a little better. I have shared this link to all my friends already.

Star Map. It’s great. I really like it.

Best Map of the Stars. Simple, intuitive, versatile. Only improvement I can think of would be to have option to receive reminders of upcoming astronomical events like the meteor shower this weekend.

Stars. Love it. I just showed it to a friend and he immediately purchased the app for the low price of $2.00.

Limited Utility. Looked at first like a nice simple app for getting quick star map. Problem is you can't just bring up any arbitrary star or constellation. If what you want to happens to be below the horizon of your location it just displays a popup dialog that says "Too Bad!". Seriously. Your only option is to change your location by hand, then search, or, you can go to the whole star map, but then you have to find it yourself and you don't get a horizon. I'm a programmer and can't really comprehend why the app can't just pick a location that gives a suitable view of the thing you want to see (instead of just saying "Too Bad!"). The app just seems rather limited for no good reason.

Awesome!. Used this app during a recent meteor shower to show my nephew where Jupiter was. It really brought the solar system a lot closer to him, making it easier to explain what was happening.

Best Star Ap. This is the best app I have ever used for space. It is extremely accurate and I always know where things are in the sky! If I could rate above 5 stars I would!

Star Map 3D. As a non-astrological expert, I can name a handful of stars and planets. This app is fantastic and teaches you everything you may be seeing in the sky. I say may because of light pollution. I can see where certain stars should be visible but due to all the surrounding light, just aren’t visible to the naked eye. The whole family loves it. You can set alerts for full moon, satellites zooming by, etc. just a great app for those who want to have fun!

This motivated me to get the phone. This was the "killer app" that motivated me to get the iphone. I am a backyard astronomer, and enjoy viewing the stars through my small telescope. This app is terrific for identifying objects and tracking them with your own movement (if you hold the phone to the south, it shows you what stars are to the south, etc.). It now has a "red - eye" mode that shades everything in red to preserve your night-time vision. It's worth it and a great tool for anyone interested in astronomy.

Fun to Explore!. Love being able to find where the stars are even when not visible in the night sky. Would love to be able to go directly to a star from a search tho!

Perfect!. My 8 year old and I were looking at the morning sky while waiting for his bus. I noticed a couple planets but wasn't sure which they were. Downloaded this app, pointed the phone at them and got my answer. Fantastic, intuitive app...and I'm an iPhone app developer myself! Great job!

Great for astronomy buffs. This is a great app for those who wish to learn about the heavens. The map is good, and I really like the ability to expand the view, like looking through a telescope. I've purchased many star charts, but this is much more useful because you can shift it around to search for deep space objects. It's a great app for all interested in exploring the universe!

Great app. Love the point at the sky identify the stars feature. The user interface is slightly confusing, i am always getting stuck in some mode or the other.

Very Disappointed. This app is not what I was looking for in a basic night sky guide. It does a good job of showing a view of constellations from your position, but that's about it. No planets or moon position. No option to view star names on the map - you have to touch a star to see it's name and info. No constellations in the search database. The 3D view is mostly a gimmick.

Much improved!. This app is awesome for anytime you're out at night and want to know what is above you. They made big improvements adding a catalogue and names of allthr constellations that are out. I would have given it 5 stars if the 3-D mode wasn't kind of spastic & hard to figure out. Overall this is a great app!

Mostly useless. Any APP that requires some intrinsic knowledge to use is a fail. Good luck. Using this to resolve what you’re looking at in the night sky is futile. Once I got planets to display and they remained on 3D no mattter the direction you look. Shiite

PERFECT!. I had an app on my old Droid phone that I loved but when I got my iPhone I was bummed because I could no longer find that one app. I downloaded another app to try & couldn't figure out how to even use it. I searched a lot and found this beauty! We are a family of novice star gazers and this simple to use app is fantastic for what info we need. I haven't tried the all options that it gives you yet but I'll get there. We are just having too much fun spotting planets, constellations & famous stars. Great job-thumbs way up. This is the very first review I've ever written so I think that says something.

ok app, but completely ruined my calendar. the app itself works pretty good. tracking is decent, plenty of data. i wish the time slider was a little more intuitive. there isnt much support for comets or asteroids but thats ok. the bad thing that happened, is that the app has accessed my calendar and jam packed it with every single upcoming moon phase and astronomical event for the next 1000 years. this wouldn’t be so bad- in fact, it would be pretty neat- if it weren't for the fact that every event was added precisely FOURTEEN TIMES. my calendar is utterly filled with endless identical entries, thereby making it difficult to find other calendar events of mine. furthermore, even after revoking the apps access to the calendar and even deleting the app altogether, the redundant entries are still there. i would have to go along and delete them manually, one at a time- which would likely take several lifetimes. so, i will have to live with this and be content to be emphatically over informed about every single upcoming and passed astronomical event, for the rest of my natural lifespan

Great app, easy to navigate!. I was looking for an easy-to-use app to view the stars and this is perfect!!! Very intuitive features make it easy to find anything you're looking for, or just fly through the galaxy! Nice to have the heavens in your pocket rain or shine, night or day. Great app!

Very great learning tool. I'm very happy with this application, I can look up to the night sky and enjoy it's beauty for first time ever. Before I didn't even pay attention to the stars (they all looked the same) now I can recognize by name a few constellations, stars, and planets. I highly recommend it, you can learn so much for so little.

Still in Beta. This app is useful exclusively to experienced astronomers who understand the Right Ascencion / Declanation system of finding stars. Lacking either compass bearings or coordinates based upon one's current location, it will be useless to most users. One must be familiar with the sky even to determine which way is up! Anyone who could understand this app would be better served by any of the far superior apps available. This app blinds the user's night vision, because it does not hide the OS's status bar at the top of the screen (showing time and battery level), its controls are glaring white fields and buttons, and there is no night vision mode. An astronomy app must be usable in the dark! The 3D feature substitutes the iPhone's pinch gesture for automated zooming at every touch of the screen, rendering control of panning unavailable until 3D is switched off. Data about stars can not be read while names and constellation lines are visible. Constellation lines are questionably drawn. Camelopardalis is shown as a short, straight line, not stars shaped like a ghiraffe! Excellent control for limiting the magnitude of stars shown. Some potential with serious upgrades, but puzzling to see the enthusiasm in other reviews. Many thanks, though, to the programmer for adding to our collection of astronomy apps. Keep at it, and you may yet have a winner.

This App is the.... ...only real reason to own an iPhone. It turns your personal device into an educational experience limited only by the Universe itself. It’s most impressive when you’re well out of the range of WiFi or cell coverage. It works with satellites so when you’re in the darkest, deepest woods, the most remote desert, or far out to sea, you still have a detailed map of your sky. I love this app!

Sky's come alive at last!. I found this app after Sky Map totally failed to boot and was immediately impressed by how well it worked, how good it looked & how useful its features were! I've taught hi-school astronomy for years & this is the perfect telescope companion. Top stuff!

Interesting. This app is great, but would be slugger better if when you selected a star/planet it gave you a description of it as well as it's current inclination. Thanks for making this, it makes looking at the stars alot more fun!

Incorrect. Thought this app was great until I pointed it towards the moon and it told me the moon is on the other side of the world. Then it told me the sun was in the middle of the sky during night time. It was correctly set for Perth, Australia so that wasn't the problem.

fantastic escapism. I love gazing up into the stars at any time of night or day, in different places around the world - it's a great escape! :) sometimes the cardinal points don't always match up with a compass and can be a bit weirdly out, but hey for star oggling it doesn't really matter!!

Does the job. A clean and simple app that does everything I want. Compass and gyro integration never worked, but finding way way around the sky is easy enough without them.

Love it. Still going great, but now am running into a problem with tracking. Now I have noticed that the map is not properly lined up. When I use the sun as a reference, it is almost 180 degrees out. I do have tracking to use my current position on. What Setting am I missing.

maps, dates, stars. i like this app because i hade to look up my zodiac sign for my teacher to do a project but she gave me the wrong date so i was able to use this app i help finish my project and prove my teacher wrong (maybe not the best idea telling my teacher she i wrong) by using date and catalog.

Crashes constantly.... Program crashes constantly. I set limiting mag to 8.0 and deep sky objects to mag 18. As SOON as I pinch zoom in the star view again, it crashes. How could such a blatant flaw go unnoticed by developers? I am using the 3gsh w the latest version of the iPhone software.

Not accurate. With a full moon tonight, I should easily locate it. I can see it, but the app is at least 5 inches off from eyesight. Happens with other stars -- I don't think it locates accurately, not sure why. I really wanted this to work also.

Great iPhone app. I know very little of the sky but I downloaded this app and was able to identify a number of the brightest stars in the urban sky immediately. For a novice astronomer this is a lot of fun.

Have star app will travel. Literally traveled a good chunk of the planet and haven't been disappointed with this app. Couple of lags when syncing but otherwise does very well.

Worth every penny! Love it!. My kids & I use this app all the time, especially when we go camping! Add a green laser pointer to accurately point out the stars & it makes for a fun & educational experience!

WAY to Limited. Constellations and movement are OK for me. It's a basic star map. Good for anyone who can figure out which way is North. Needs zoom to make sky smaller to see the big picture. The 2D view is too close. Can't select time OR location. Star labels are just a royal pain and can't be turned off. Every time you touch the screen, even touching the ground, this big label pops up and gets in the way. 3D is worthless and just distorts the sky. Option buttons are very hard to select on my iPhone. Fix these and then cut the price in half.

LOVE IT!!. I was having a difficult day, so I was pretty stressed out by nighttime. I sat outside on a clear night and I found so many constellations. So peaceful!
