Works for me, but expensive. I don't agree with the negative reviews here. I compared the results to my local government list, and the results were the same. It's more convenient to use this app than a gov site. Cons: Searching only works if I do a search twice! The first time produces no change in the display; clicking search a second time updates the display. Also, for this price, we should be able to search by name in our state, display some offense or court or news article detail, etc.

Wow!. Never realized there were so many offenders around! The app is pretty cool, maps are a bit slow when using edge, but with 3G (and wifi of course) everything is pretty fast. 5 stars for me :-)

awesome app. Way cool. I true the others but this is updating the maps with new offenders as I drive along with the gps. I can zoom in and out and just click on the offenders I want to lookup. A+++++ from me!

Needs Updated. As the sex offender registrar for a large county and supervising hundreds of sex offenders, I can see that this database is very outdated. However, sex offenders tend to move around a lot and many registrations are updated often. This is a good program, but relying solely on the information it contains is not as safe as utilizing better resources available. If your state has a sex offender website, it will likely be more accurate.

Great. Great app and info. Easy to navigate through and find what you are looking for. Buy it before you buy a house.

Incomplete.... POSITIVES: +intuitive format +nice to be able to see pics of the offenders NEGATIVES (concerns!) -incomplete... The other app (similar to this one, yet with its own set of problems) shows several more offenders living in this area... This app showed only two! Also, the regular postings warning us about offenders in the area we receive at the school I teach at shows MANY more offenders in this area... -application hung when I attempted to use it while traveling through a new community (I had 3G/E access) showing a message that it needed an Internet connection to work... It should work when a person is not next to a wi-fi (ie. When traveling)... -needs a "back" button... The program is easy to get stuck in at some parts, and thus would greatly help in navigation... Overall a nice concept! I will feel better about awarding the three additional stars as my valid concerns are addressed...

Needs to be updated. This is, was, a great app. I like the design, the info shown but it really needs to be updated. It should be updated at the very least every month. There many offenders who don't show up that I KNOW are offenders because they're posted online on familywatchdog Please update the info and it will be a 5 star app.

Good Start. I like the concept, and see real possibilities. Some of these reviews really crack me up thou. You can afford the price of this phone, but waste more time than the app. is worth by engrossing yourselves in a 1.99 cent refund. I see so much of this, and just don't get it. Must be the principle :)

Great for any parent out there. Wow...an excellent source for anyone with kids! As a police officer myself, I highly recommend this appt. Whether you live in a current area or your moving into a new area...it really will serve as a great tool! Just please...do not try to take justice into your own hands!

Data doesn't seem to be updated. I like the idea of this application. I work in the sex offender registry world and I think applications like this are exactly what are needed to continue to bringing this important information to the public. Unfortunately, the data in the application for the state I am familiar with is not accurate or up to date. I found several examples of mapping errors for listed offenders (addresses being mapped in wrong locations) and found many records with out of date photos and offender information. An application like this is only as good as the data it contains and from this perspective this application doesn't measure up.

Not worth Downloading - waste of money. This app is such a waste of money. The app crashed on me 5 times in a matter of a couple minutes. I am going to request a refund on this app. I also think the icon is offensive and does not relate product. You can only see your current location and can not input different address's. Definitely not friendly if I am looking at predators near my family homes.

Creepy.... ...how some "known" areas in my town have such high concentrations of red dots. This sad reality aside, the app is great. Super simple to use, FAST, showing all the dots on screen updating immediatley just as soon as the maps are refreshed. My iPhone was very "popular" at work today as several of my coworkers were passing it around so they could check on their neighborhood. Even though I knew this info was available on the web, having it on the iphone makes more accessible, especially when I'm going out with the children.

Very nice - thumbs up.. The app looks and works very similarly to the (great) iPhone map app. The dots with the offenders are updated immediately as you scroll the map on the screen. Very slick. Recommended.

Exceeds expectations , easy to use, very fast. This application is terrific! If have tried it over 100 of addresses and it has provided results for all of them. It is easy to use and has a great user interface. I have also noticed it is very fast and the locator is great and can easily be accessed while driving.

Good app with some areas to work on. Over all an good application with useful information. I have a few cons though. First, the program has crashed several times after it has been on for a couple of minutes. Another is that I live in a dense urban area but only show 5 offenders in my area and I know from other sources that there are quite a few more than that. Looking through the detail screens, I see that there are more listed that shown on the map. Also, when an address is searched to see what offenders are around this address, no blue icon shows the location of the searched address. Another is that both contact URLs on the Apple page lead to same page and is without link to developer of support. Wish list would include the ability to flick through the detail images without having to back out and select another name in the list.

A must for every mother!. Everyday there is some new tragedy in the news regarding children. We need to go on the offensive and stop being victims. This is a must have app for all mothers who own iPhones. Thanks Logsat.

Amazing Yet Sad That We Need This. BUY THIS......period!! It's a shame that society has to house scum like this near us normal folks. GREAT app for parents to look at and being able to see the pictures too is excellent! Great job guys on this app, to me as a father of two it is apps like this that make all of the others seem pointless. You have enlightened me on where these parasites are and what they look like, sincere thanks! Keep the scum updates constant though, I found one near me on the Police records that isn't on here.

Very eye-opening. I had heard about this app and the various sex offender websites, but actually seing red pins all around certain areas definetely makes you wonder. Some of the charges are completely stupid, I can just imagine the DA branding these people as sex offenders when all they needed was a slap on the wrist. Unfortunatley this takes away from using this registry to locate the *truly* dangerous and devious individuals that pose a *real* risk. I would say that a third of the charges for the dots in my neighborhood are in the "innocous - the DA should be fired" category, but the other two thirds are really creeps... So while I disagree on labeling some categories of offenders as sex offenders, this app does do indeed a very nice job in displaying the data it's supposed to display. It's fast and very user-friendly.

If you have children this is a must have. Dynamically locates with photos based either on address or current location very great tool to have you just would not think that there were that many in your area till you look it has the bad persons address or last known address works in all states with photos of the creeps. Very nice. A+!

Great app Easy to use. This is exactly what I needed. I'm in the market for a new home and as I'm looking at homes in different areas, I'm also using this app to check out the neighborhoods. This is a quick and easy app to use just like the GPS on your Iphone. #1 app This is a great tool that works.

Excellent, the best application I've bought yet.. My wife wants me to run out and buy her an iphone after she saw this app. Its fast, easy to use and informative. I saw it on TV and the reporter went right up to a sex offenders house using it. As soon as the show was over I was on my iphone buying it. Well worth the price.

Good, but needs major improvement.. First, let me say that this is a great idea and a worthwhile use of tech. Overall, the app works, and I've had no crashes and have been able to search several locations near me. But major improvements are needed. The data is incomplete on the offenders and it is not listing all the convicted offenders. Also it lists many of them twice, giving different addresses, often out of state. Need to be able to search by name. Also need to be able to sort by major offense. I'd like to know if "John Doe" down the street was convicted of several felonies or is a first-time offender. Don't get me wrong. Overall this is good but the major omissions and inaccuracies make me wonder how much I can trust the data. Devs, keep working on this, please.

Thanks for the awareness app!. The app works exactly as it should. I am a little shocked at the large number of offenders in my area. Thanks for putting this info at my fingertips. I think it would be great if you could also include the dates (year) of offenses.

It looks better on the iPad but.... This app looks a lot better on the iPad than in did on the iPhone, but it is a lot slower and most of the info that shows up on the iPhone shows "unavailable on the iPad version. I will change my rating after an update that fixes this

Not worth the money.... One main reason I got the app is because it's very detailed , crime, location, and photo of the sex offender as seen above. Not true. Not one photo will appear on any place I have searched. But there's another free app out there, and it shows all the photos for every location I search. Big problem... Can you please fix this problem?

It works, if they updated their address. The only problem I have is, it keeps centering on your location. What if I want to search a different area? Even an area that is close to where I live.

Great App- Great Customer Service. At first the app did not work at all, it would not pull up sex offenders that my state web site would. After an email to customer service and a very quick (less than 4 hour) reply the problem was solved. It was a problem with their servers. Now it works great and is very accurate as far as I can tell.

Great app. Very cool application, purchased it last month, and have shown it off to quite a few non-iPhone owner friends. At least two of them bought the iPhone after seing how many applications we can use and just how cool they are :-)

Could use an upgarde. This app has worked well for me. I don't understand the complaints other commenters have posted. My only dissapoinent is that, just recently, none of the photos show anymore. Is the govenment trying to lessen their shame by not sharing their pics since the popularity of apps like this? A couple of good ideas for the next release: Whenever new predators show up near by, have the app alert the user the same way "Ambiance" does when it has new info posted. Also, allow for a search by name; not just location.

I've never been so creeped out. Wow..... I live in a very small rural town, and this program actually found people my husband & I know, from encountering them threw our business. My husband was as giggly as a school girl with each new person we could see, but I was just creeped. The program is excellent, the pictures are so clear... If you know them... You won't be mistaken!

A must have if you have children.... Sex Offender Search is by far the easiest way to locate those individuals that place your children at risk. Whether your attempting to locate offenders in your current area or around a prospective home this app is hands down the best.

Don't buy, app crashes. I have reported this several times, this app rarely loads and if it does it crashes soon after... Was great before the problem started. Many people are complaining. PLEASE FIX!!! Still crashing after months of reporting. Company no longer even answers email.

Great Application! Very Fast and Accurate.. The application is very intuitive, fast and easy to use. What I like the most is that you do not have to resubmit your searches. All you have to do is drag the map and it automatically populates it with the results

Not shocked.... My only disappointment was that the app moved alil slow, other than that I wasn't shocked by all the offenders in my neighborhood! Actually, I figured there'd be more... Odd right? Well, that's Vegas for you!

Not bad. I first downloaded the lite version and after using it a bit I felt it was worth the 1.99 upgrade to the full version. So I purchased the full version but noticed the it doesn't give as much detail of the convictions as the lite version does. Maybe a glitch? Needs more work? I dunno. But in either case it is a very good and informative app.

I bought them all this is the best one.. I paid for every sex offender search app so I could decide the best for myself. This one gives you the widest range of any of the other. I would've given 5 stars if you could see their pictures without clicking on their name. It would be nice if it automaticatly flagged the highest risk offenders. Few of the offenders in my area had any details on their offences. Most of them are left blank which makes me wonder. It could be better but when compared to the others this one seems to be most helpful.

Best available of it's kind. Worth the coin. Results are accurate and updated daily.

Scam app. This app is garbage. I looked at my sister's neighborhood because she has a young daughter and every time I load the program, the three red dots in her area show different names and faces of people who look like they have been rotting in prison for a decade already. This app is a total scam job and a theft of your money. I recommend not buying it

Mmm. Okay this app is informing and well put together but, well worth 2 dollars. But I live in St. Joseph, Missouri and once I seen all the sex offenders in this city, I gave moving a good thought. So only get this app. If you are ready for harsh truth! God bless.

Nice App, but.... Very nice App with a few shortcomings. Not all offender's have addresses in the list although available on RI official web site. Some offenders are listed more than once with different addresses - which is good - but should be a way to determine which is the most recent. BIGGEST ISSUE and primary reason I gave only 3 stars is that the App does not map all offenders in the list view. In fact, in many instances offenders that are further away are displayed on the map while many that are closer are not. When this is fixed it is at least a 4 star and perhaps a 5 star App.

Nice clean app ... photos, crime specific information ... well worth 1.99. This app is FAST, simple, and full of information. Other apps I have (unfortunately) paid for are $5-13 and do not have interactive maps or as much information. Many other apps are slow and take 20-30 seconds to load. This is the best app for sex offenders I have seen yet. Please keep updating it and make it better and better!

Glitch Resolved. On Oct. 18 I downchecked this app because it disregarded location-search inquiries and always produced a map of Cupertino, Calif. That glitch has been cured and the app works exactly and fully as advertised. I give it s 5-star rating.

A lot better than the computer. It only took me 2 minutes to realize what good it is.

Great app!. Love this app, (and love my iPhone!)... The maps come up practically instantly, and unlike the other product, you can actually navigate them, zoom in and out, and instantly get new offenders. Very nice, clean, and easy to use interface. Kudos!

Search Default to Cupertino, CA. I purchased this in November, 2009. Seems to work fine, other than the "search" mode. It always go to Cupertino, CA. I've read about this on other reviews, but cannot find an updtate available to correct it.

Some of the claims are true. The app is not all that accurate. I typed in three different addresses and got most of the same names, with different photos everytime. Somehow, the same man lived .6 miles away from 3 places that are not near each other. My iPhone isn't jailbroken and I restarted my phone after the install, and the app crashed on me three times on ten minutes. I would not recommend this app without a major update.

Works great. Don't know what more you could want from this type of app. I did pay for the full version though.

Embarrssingly Inaccurate. This application is inaccurate! I live in Cary, NC and it shows an offender living down the street from me. After calling the apartment community to verify, I found out that no such person lives in the property. In fact we traced him to be living out of state. This is a HUGE error on the developers part and could have big potential for lawsuites for misrepresentation. Do not buy!!!!!!

A Shame But Good. Great application, great idea, works great! I like the map view, photo and names. One problem, it only works for the United States, I wish it wouldve stated that in the description. Other than that, great idea.

Good!. This is a good app but it could be better. We need the ability to search by name. This app also needs more faces and offenses. This app is off to a very good start. It just needs some work and it will be great. It does the job though! I would recommend it.

Pointless. What good is listing offenders if your customers can't see what the offenders look like? The point of buying this was to know who to look out for when taking our children to the playgrounds. I want my money back.

Not accurate. Data is not accurate. What good is this app if the data is bad? Latin text descriptions? Unfinished product.

Sex Offender Lite. The version you have to pay for has no more info on it than the free lite version which serves the purpose. 4 star for free and 1 star for paid version

Offender not on map!. Yesterday a 2 year old girl got raped in my city. The offender lives in my city. He shows up on the list view but not the map. It would be very helpful to have both match. I look at the map first.

What happened?. This used to be a great app. Now it shows only a fraction of the offenders found on the State of Maine registry. Hardly worth opening anymore...

Awsome Tool Sad Reality. Can't believe how many ODB's live around here. I like this map because it takes full advantage of google maps and is overall very user friendly. Not sure how complete the registered offendors list is... I've seen some reviews stating it's not up to par- if true I hope they make that better Bottom line I am satisfied with the great interface of this app and it is very comprehensive offendors app.

New update works fine, still no Retina Display!. There is still no retina display! How long has retina display been out? Come on guys, this is a paid app and should be completely up to date. Other than that, it works just fine on the iPhone 5.

Witch hunt. I felt guilty as hell after looking at this app! It's a virtual witch hunt! How sick and boring people lives must be to sit and look at these people who ( most of them) had to register for stupid reasons! Totally un-american and disgusting! Can I have a refund?

Cupertino!?!. If I ever move to Cupertino, CA, I'll know the areas to avoid because every time you search an address it takes me to Cupertino. I reported the glitch, there is no fix. I want my money back!!!

GPS doesn't work, address doesn't work. It has stopped working and now it won't locate you and if you put in an address, it's on the other side of the country. UNUSABLE! Fix it!!!!!!

Great. I have 3 kids and they walk to school. With this app it helps me be aware of the people in the area and I notified the school and now they ride the bus. 

Difference?. I see there are 3 different prices for this app...free...$1.99 and $3.99 I'd like to know whats different...all looks the same to me. I have free version.

Crash. I've owned this app for years. First one I ever bought. Since I updated the phone it doesn't open. Uninstalled, reinstalled still nothing. Powered down the phone, still nothing. Is this just apple's way of making us buy the app for iPhone? I would gladly do that if you want to refund me off this app...

Don't upgrade!!!! Newest version doesn't work. I just did the up grade and now it will not open, I tried deleting the app and reinstalling but it still does not work, I am using IOS 6.1.3

don't waste your $$$$. this app doesn't function as well as the free apps do. It has problems loading mug shots (photos). Many missing photos are found on other free apps. Isn't the purpose of this app to display pictures of those we need to beware of? what a freaking joke.

Does NOT show offenses in detail as shown in their stillshots. In the app stillshot, it shows a detailed description of each offense. However the only detail I get is: "sexual_assault_1" "sexual_assault_2" "sexual_assault_3"

Shutting down. Keeps shutting down when clicking on offender info.

Crashes and information. Needs more information about the people and it is very useful to see who is around u and what they have done i hate the part where it always crashes though they need free update

Not accurate. Everytime I check the same location, I get info on a different guy. This makes me question the accuracy of the entire app. I'd rather not have to check Megans Law everytime I need to verify a subjects info. Other than that....the app is great! Good idea

SPOOF APP. This app's data changed each time I opened it. First I had 12 offenders then 3 than 10. Its a spoof app, don't waste your money.

UPDATE!!!. Lacks pictures and offenses.. This info is available. Had this app for a while and seemed to be updated when it first came out, but now that is been out for a while, ball seems to have been dropped. Important app, but get back in the game!!

Used To Work. Well it was a great app before apple got involved. Thanks apple for screwing the consumer again. First you did it with the iPhone itself. It can't do simple task that free phones can do I.e. Bluetooth, now you have to screw us with the apps too. I suggest you supply a jar of Vaseline with each new iPhone purchase. I want my money back!!!!!!!

Needs Updates. Generally a decent app however needs updates. Half or more of offenders shown doesn't show offense, while a third don't show picture. Needs improvements.
