Doesn't Work. The darn thing has been on a white screen saying it's "rendering" a book. This app was great when it was free. Now that I've paid for it, it doesn't work at all. What a rip.

Great App!. Quite an ample variety of books, and useful tools! I would love to see the audio option for all books and a children's genre. Perhaps some more recent books as well. Nevertheless, I'm truly thankful for so many free books!!

Was Great - Now Doesn’t Work. I loved using this app, but it hasn’t been updated in years and no longer works.

Delivers what it offers. Good selection of classics, and quite a variety of other titles as well.

I had loved this app, but the update ruined it.. It will not render any books. I am so sad. I loved this app before. Please fix the update.

it won’t play the books. i have tried and tried and can’t get it to play.

Awesome if you want Classics. I love having all the classics within easy reach, no travelling to a library or bookstore to get a copy. Those who complain that more recent books should be added should understand that these books are free because their copyright has expired already so newer books will not be available for free. Gotta pay for those. If you love the classics though and want to read a lot of them this is for you. The only thing you pay for is to use the app. After that, nothing! It's great! You could download all 20,000+ books for the price of two little bucks. Awesome deal :)

Didn’t work for me. Downloaded book but can’t read it because it’s “rendering” and has been doing so for over 30 hours.

Nice Reader. This book reader is an easy to use interface to a massive 23,000+ collection of public domain books. It provides both online and offline reading with customizable font sizes and color schemes. It also has a search function. The pages flip page to page, it might be nice to offer a scrolling text feature but the page flips are easy to use. It also seems locked into portrait mode, not sure landscape would work but it might be a nice option for those who prefer to read that way. You can also have the ebooks sent as an .rtf (rich text format) to any e-mail box for reading there as well. The collection of books you have access to is (obviously) massive and should provide plenty of material, especially the classics that you may or may not have ever read. Overall, a very nice portal into this large collection of public domain works, I can't say I've tried the other readers on the app store but this one certainly works admirably. Recommended.

Excellent implementation of access to free books from the Gutenberg Project plus other sources.. All the five star reviews describe the strengths. I have had no technical difficulties, crashes or failures. I don't understand the complaints, particularly the one that says the product with 150 books is better and all those offered by Free Books are uninteresting, since all 150 books offered by that seller are on Free Books. Even the Art of War for which some sellers are charging $10. is on Free Books. My only annoyances are some Gutenberg books have several pages of boiler plate to scroll past. And spacing is off in some text when the source used hard returns. The absence of fonts to indicate headings in sometimes an inconvenience. This can be especially bothersome when reading poetry. If spacing is too bothersome, it is easy to find something else to read. Don't miss Cory Doctorow. Is this where I am supposed to start my review? At the end of someone else's with no indication a new review is starting? Very confusing.

Doesnt work. Buggy! Last version worked great. I used the prior version. Worked great! They changed the rendering. The book spins trying to render it. Doesn't work at all. No stars! They broke it!

Doesn't work at all anymore. The same rendering issue that others here speak of. This app is now useless.

Wow. So many books I have wanted to read, but just didn't go to them first. How could I live in the US and not have read Common Sense. I plan to read so many of these books. I love British mysteries and the humor in them. So many libraries don't house some of the older books just because of space. I read Edgar Rice Burrough's John Carter books, and I just heard that John Carter will be a major movie in Marsh. These books are ageless and timely. The great writers were deemed great for a reason. Harry said to paraphrase if you do not know history, you are doomed to repeat it. Books for fun, books to make you think and many books that do both at the same time. I love this app and so will you, if reading means something to you.

books don't "render". Books don't render so you cannot read them. I erased and downloaded the app several times and tried everything..How can they put something up here that flat out does not work?

Really great app overall. Best for classics, and good reading screen! 5 stars. Happy reading!. Overall, this is a really great app. It does exactly what it says. Awesome selection, and a great alternative to buying all those expencive classics that you know you "really ought" to read. Easy reading screen, works awesome on the iPod touch. Good selection of poetry. The only qualm I have about it is the lack of extra personalization. I know, you can change the color of the pages and the size of the letters, but it would be nice to be able to scroll rather than flip, and maybe put some real covers on the books; and a short description of what it each one contains before adding it to your library. The super quick page turning was hard to get used to. Who flipps the page that fast, I say?? All in all, it is WELL worth the $2 to buy all these books, and probably pays for itself for most of you.

yesyesyesnoyesyesyes. this is a great app and totally worth more than the 1.99 I bought it for. I'm glad it doesn't try to make everything realistic and stuff cause I'm just trying to read and I don't really care if the page flipping looks real or not. the only thing that would make it perfect is some more modern books... past 1923. but old books are always interesting to me. also if I could see all 23,600+ books in one big list so I don't miss any. unless there already is and I'm missing it. for that stuff, I'd like to give it 4 1/2 stars but since i can't, I'll give it 5.

Failure of knowledge. I attempted to download three books and it didn't work for me.

I'll never be stranded with nothing to read again!. I love love this app! While I'll always prefer reading books the traditional way, this is a fantastic alternative for those times when I find myself in public with time on my hands and no reading material. They have a good selection and the option to browse by category for those of us not sure of what we want to read. Also great is their option to change font size and color scheme so you can adjust the look to whatever will be easiest on the eyes. Looks like I'll finally be able to check off some books from my reading list!

Love Free Books. I love Free Books. Before agreeing to submit a review, I tried very hard to think of something negative to write to counter all the positive attributes of this great app. The only thing I could think of is that I wish there were more titles from which to choose - or, to be more precise - I wish there were more "modern" works from which to choose. Other than this one "gripe", I could not be more satisfied with this app. I absolutely love having a good book always at my finger tips with the inconvenience of actually having to carry an actual book. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Love this App. I like this App very much. So far no crashes, etc. I have access to Cicero, or Edgar Rice Burroughs to name a couple of very different genres. There is such a wide range; even Robert Frost. I can find more modern books somewhere else. This App offers classics of all kinds that I would, otherwise, never go searching for. To add to the benefits, I just found Agatha Christie & Georgette Heyer. Awesome!! Thanks. UPDATE Love the update. Am finding more great authors, George MacDonald, H. Rider Haggard, Plato & the list goes on. Thanks sooo much!!! P.S. To those who keep complaining because more modern books are not included, try reading the DESCRIPTION. This app contains classics that are Public Domain; that's why they are Free. Deserves 10 Stars.

Great App. Been using this app for several years. My ONLY issue is that when I switched from ipod to iPhone the app crashes frequently and I lose my library to try and remember what I had. Anyone have any ideas why? Have plenty memory. Great reading and selections. Thanks for great app.

Public domain is a wonderful thing!. Clearly stated, books are pre 1923, that's how it works. Many classics are within the public domain and several are compiled here. There are many obscure texts as well. Again we are talking classics here, books that have stood the test of time, books that are still being taught in schools today. Believe me when I say because I had to suffer through Last of the Mohicans, The Scarlet Letter, and any of the Bronte sisters while I was in high school, that should be the privilege of all American high school students. This is a convenient form for that. Again we are talking classics, not vulgar or popular literature. No Twilight, Stephen King, or Toni Morrison here.

Books are lovely. Who can complain with the price?

Love it so far..... I originally got the free version, and it was a huge flop! I got into a book and the app wouldn't open. It froze, I deleted and re-downloaded it 2x and it still did it. I was brave enough to try this version, and so far I'm very glad that I did. But the new update had a huge flaw- it goes back to the library/menu constantly when u are tapping to turn the page....tried to read last night and it drove me nuts!! But another update may be able to fix that, because otherwise it is the only flaw. I love the new option to change page orientation. I was really hoping for that. Thank you! I look forward to even more updates which improve an already very good thing....

What happened?. This used to such great app! For years I loved having so many books available, but now nothing. Argh!!! I have several novels and enjoyed. Now it won’t download anything. I feel like a chump trying to do so. Digital Press is not responding to obvious demand by the public for an update. There are a great many of us who would like to continue if they would let us.

Worth the price, with a couple of minor shortcomings. Like the description says, most of the books in this app are available elsewhere. Most seem to come from Project Gutenberg. There are sites that already let you save these books in a mobile format, but I still find Free Books to have its own strengths. The problem with using a service like ManyBooks to save files in PDF format is that you need a computer to do it. Free Books provides almost immediate access to titles. I find its layout to be very good, and more readable than the Kindle app. I do wish it had a smooth-scrolling landscape view like GoodReader, though. You have to read books in portrait view, and tapping the left or right sides of the screen flips the page (tapping the middle brings up the menu). The controls may be minimal, but they work very well. Like I said, though, it is very readable in this format (moreso than competitors), but a landscape view would be a nice addition. One warning, though: Free Books does not include every book in the Project Gutenberg library. I don't know how it makes its selections, with part of an author's library will be available while part is not. Still, with ManyBooks and GoodReader as a backup, it is well worth $2.

Love this collection!. If you like classics, this is the app for you. All those old-timey books and authors you've been curious about are all here. And because it's an app, it's super easy to read and it's with you all the time. Sure, we all have our favorite games to waste time while we're waiting at the doctor's office or bank, it feels a little better to "waste" time reading. I've discovered old authors I'd only heard about. It's great.

MY PERSONAL LIBRARY. I can’t get this app to work at all. Every time I try to use it it gives me an error message. Time to do it delete.

Missing ends of chapters.... I am entralled with this app. Haven't read this much in a long, long time; and since there are so many classics I haven't read yet I'm not at all bothered by their older publishing date. I'm also pleased with the ease of navigation, the use of the slide bar for longer jumps through the text, the ability to adjust font size and the ability to see how many pages along you are. BUT there is one major annoyance. As I read through the Tarzan series I notice that many of the chapters are missing their final paragraphs. (Comparison of the text of Tarzan of the Apes with the 101 Classics app confirmed this.) Context clues fill in the gaps, but these are the places where key narrative observations tend to be delivered. I shouldn't whine for a dollar, but it's irritating to start a new chapter going "Huh?" much of the time. Plus I love this app so much I want it to be perfect.

App is useless. Apparently the makers of this app tried to make improvements. However, all they have done is make matters worse. The app remains in a perpetual state of rendering and never delivers the books. I am deleting it from my iPhone 6 Plus.

Great little app. Those who complain about the general age of the many books available in this collection are probably unaware of the sad state of copyright law in this country. Only those books written before 1930 are currently in the public domain, and hence available to everyone. Nevertheless, this includes a great many books that have stood the test of time. The app itself is ok, though there quite a number of improvements that could be made. For one, books are displayed without summary, page count, type, and so on. Many of the book titles are truncated in the listing. I saw one French book categorized as English, plus a typo, but there's no immediate way to report errors. There's no support for landscape reading. There's no support for table of contents (lots of fun reading Plato's "Republic" when the introduction ends around page 750). All that said, this is well worth a couple of bucks, and I imagine I'll be spending a good deal of time using this app.

I want my $1 back.. Books do not “render” and therefore cannot be read, nor do they successfully send to my email address. There is no way to contact customer service, as it leads to a dead page. The creators of this app are using us for pocket change.

Nice, very nice!. Very nice indeed. I thought it was going to be a bit complicated to find books I'd actually be interested in reading on this app--but, it's not. Took me only a few seconds to get started. You can quickly search through popular books, different genres, or just search for a title you're looking for. It's really easy to read the text and you can increase/decrease the font size in just once click. The page turner is easy and fun (just have to tap the screen). I really love the slider at the bottom that lets you jump through pages easily. Was feeling a little nostalgic so I skimmed through a few books I haven't read in years and traipsed right to the end--lame I know. Right now, tackling Dostoevsky’s The Idiot on FreeBooks, wish me luck! Free Books rocks!

Update renders this app useless!. I used to love this app until the update. Now I get a message that each book must be re-rendered. I could live with that, but the books NEVER re-render. I even left one “open” overnight, and nothing. Then I deleted the app, re-uploaded it, and downloaded one book. Same problem - never renders, never readable. This update needs an update.

Doesn't work. Don't download this. It doesn't work. Books won't render so they can be read.

A great app to read with!. The thousands of books available make this more than worth the price. It's great for class or just casual reading. The layout of the menu is clean, however, I wish the books themselves would be a bit neater. The books are just lumps of text with no way to find chapters or passages. If there was a search function within the book, it would be even better. You get an adjuster for the font size and color, but I'd rather scroll down for the rest of a page rather than flipping though 730 iPhone screen size pages that should only be 120 pages in real life. Regardless, I recommend this app!

Great value. Pros: a bazillion books! It's great to catch up on classics and to find more obscure reads. I appreciate that they are very upfront about most of the books being pre-1920s. But I've found lots of books already that I want to read. It's also great that the books are all free once you buy the app. Cons: I prefer the functionality of the B&N eReader as far as a basic reading app goes. For some reason, I prefer the swipe to touching a certain part of the screen. I read on the subway one-handed. That is a pretty minor complaint versus the pros. If you like classics or "vintage" literature, buy this app!

Excellent. One of my favorite apps. I love it!

Paid but does not work iPhone 12 Pro. I had this app years ago and although slow to download, I loved it. Downloaded App March 2022, paid for it…and it is basically USELESS. cannot get any books to read. I am glad I only WASTED $1.00 to pay for it. Disappointed. I recommend staying away from this app. Would give it ZERO STARS IF I COULD.

Rendering Issue. I hope they fix this problem. App does not work.

Free Books!. This is great. I love reading these classics.

'Rendering' and won't download. Every book I try to download asks for two minutes to 'render' a new better version and it never finishes. Would be great if it actually worked :/

Used to be great. Now broken.. Like many others I updated the app and am now stuck "rendering" forever. It's a bummer. Previously the app was basic but did all that it needed to do. Now it's not good for anything.

I really like this app!!. I've downloaded a few free book apps but this one takes the cake thus far. I really like the color contrast option that makes the reading much easier on the eyes. It took me a short time to get used to the flipping of the pages but other than that I'm really enjoying it. I like that the app saves your place for you when you return to reading. I was wondering how the developers were going to address that but I didn't need to wonder for long. Its nice to know that I always have a book or two available to me when I'm out and about and these classics are great reads that I may not necessarily grab when heading out the door. Thanks much for this app! I would recommend it to anyone!

Used to love. Used to love this app. Now, nothing will load. Every book says "Rendering" for hours. Nothing ever happens. Book never loads.

After Dark. Great book for bedtime or relaxing reading.

Rendering not working. Books aren’t rendering properly the prerequisite 20 seconds to 2 minutes needed before reading are far-fetched as they don’t hold up for any amount of time. I don’t see any update coming any time soon as the developers haven’t had one for over 4 years. Don’t download, there’s better alternatives. Also the 5-star reviews on this app are trying to dupe you into getting it.

Great Option for readers of All Ages. Cant read one book. It says it has to render the books and they never download so I haven’t read one book. Pretty disappointing.

Some old classics. Very enjoyable! I found some old classics I'd read before and other stories I'd never seen. Good for a Sci- fi fan.

Used to be a good app. I paid less than a cup of coffee to watch an eBook render for a week. Fix or give me money back!

Great App. Easy to use and has a great selection of books. It's so great to have a portable library and not have to carry big chunky books around. Only complaint would be that more recent books cannot be added, but apart from that a really great app.

Catch up on the classics. A great way to catch up on the classics while commuting, waiting for a plane, having a coffee ... any time you've got 5 minutes to spare. And for almost no cost. Access to new titles would be a bonus.

Great books - great app!. A wonderful way to (re-)acquaint yourself with these great classic books. I love how it remembers up to where you were. Variable font size is a boon for us oldies, too. Very worthwhile. CL

I love it. I think it's a really great app, almost perfectly executed. I would like to see a little bit of detail on every book, however. I loved that it was easy to use in-book, and you could send the book to your email as well. Might want to consider renaming the app. Freebooks may seem a little misleading to some buyers. Perhaps something such as ArchiveBooks or the Archive might be more fitting. But otherwise, great job guys. Keep up the great work.

Disappointing since update. Used to love it. Then couldn't even get it to open. Deleted and reloaded ( losing all previously downloaded books, of course). Downloaded a book, but it would not open. Deleted it and tried a different book. Cannot open since it is stuck on edit and only gives me a choice to delete the book or nothing. I have iPhone 4s, maybe only works on latest models.

Classic opportunity. It is great to have these classics available and be able to read them so conveniently

Crashed on Terms of Service. Just bought the app and installed but it is stuck on the Terms of Service page. I've been waiting for ages to tap "accept". What's going on? Then I discovered the developer website is gone and so has the app support site. Don't waste your money on this- there is no app!

Highly Recommend. I can't believe some people are complaining about this app. For the $'s you pay it's fantastic value. So what that the titles are all pre-1923? Most classics were written before then anyway. Bar 2 titles I was able to download the entire Anne of Green Gables series. Pretty good for less than $2.50!

True-it's actually free!. I bought this app and although it's on crashed twice it's probably worth it, I love how you can send the books to your computer…AWESOME!

A reader's resource. Free Books gives me access to so many different books, I've been reading non-stop since getting it. I would like a blurb on the books before I download them, but otherwise I can't fault it.

Please fix rendering issue. New update now books have to rendered and it's stuck on rendering screen. Pleas fix an otherwise great app

Fantastic. Great selection of really nice books. Would be even better if they could have the function to skip to a particular point of the index or a specific chapter. Right now you got to remember page numbers if you're flipping back and forth. Still a great app though.

Julie- Samford. Having a classic book in your pocket all the time is like having a great friend along for the ride of your life! This app can take you on the best journey you will ever have

mrs. What Could be better on a holiday than a bunch of books to read on my ipod? Fantastic! Light to carry, easy to read, and fun discovering new books I've never heard of. A wonderful app! Thankyou!

Great reads. It's good to know that when you read one of these books it is going to be quality. There are so many junk books out there that sound great when they are reviewed and a waste of my time and money.

Absolutely Fantastic!. I've discovered some real gems and my only problem is getting the time to read them all.

Bite a book. I love reading 24/7 and this app was great for my reading needs. The page is always lit right, there were no spelling mistakes and they were genuine books not rip of books. I am giving you 5 star you have put a lot of effort in to making this app so you deserve it !!! THUMBS UP & KEEP SMILING 

John Carter. Went and watched the new movie John Carter and then came home, fired up Free Books and there it was "A Princess of Mars" by Edgar Rice Burroughs - cool!! Thanks Free Books :-) I've read heaps of books using this reader on my iphone. The only improvement would be that it would mark a book in my library as being read ... so I knew!

Value For Money. A great app:; highly recommended. A very valuable resource for book lovers; the ability to read a book on the phone is fantastic.

Free books. Fantastic books great to read the classics again. I have to fight the kids for use of it. Maybe some more recent books would be great, but enjoying the large range available and the ease of use of the app.

Fulfilling. Originally download for something to do on the daily commute. But found it was also good for night I can't sleep and boring family functions.

Mr. I love the classics and great non fiction work of antiquity so to find a site that allows you to download a lot of terrific books, which one cannot find in a normal library, free of charge for a few dollars of joining fee is fantastic. Keep up the good work.

A major plus. Who'd have though you would be able to carry a library of classics around with you and read them anywhere/anytime. Those train trips are definitely less boring now. :)

So sad.... That I won't be able to read all of the selections. Fantastic app if you're a reader and so handy for filling in time waiting for trains, doctors, or just relaxing at a cafe. Mind boggling range of books and most of top quality. My fave app.

Literary genius!!. This is a brilliant app. To bring the old and original stories to us in this way is fantastic. So many to choose from and an easy app to use. Have recommended it to all my friends.

Great. One of my favourite apps with a wonderful selection. Great for when you're stuck at a bus stop or a long flight. Only criticism is that you can't go through by chapters, only pages. Please add an option to search chapters and i'll give a five star review.

A Brilliant App. Brilliant. Thousands of classic books. I love Tarzan & the Mars books by Edgar Rice Burroughs which are hard to find but here they are and many many others of these type - Huck Finn the list goes on....

Free is good. Free is good, But still some woeful stability issues - will muddle through for easy access to all these classics

Free books. Used it for years. Now I can’t download or email a book to computer. Though I signed up to the app several times over last 10tears It looks like the pleasure of reading a “free” book is over.

Nick from Sydney. I simply love this book collection: tapping into a wide selection of old classics has not been easier - I mean a very wide collection! I can even tap into books that I have not heard of before. Be assured that I shall be using this application during moments of peace and on long trips overseas.

Out-of-copyright freebees!. It's great to see out-of-copyright books made freely accessible! Way to go. This app has a HUGE library of great classic free books ie. out-of-copyright, ie. old. FYI people wanting "recent books"? Hahaha um. How about paying for recent books? We writers have to eat, too. Beans & rice is fine. K thx. xo 

Awesome. I love that I get the chance to read books I've never heard of and wouldn't pick off a shelf normally, yet still loving them, wouldn't mind extra books added every now and again and we need more reviews from people, I love to be able to check out if I would want to read it, so get on it randoms :D

Fantastic app, would happily pay MUCH more. I was surprised at the sheer volume of material available to download. As well as the classics there's some great obscure gems I would NEVER have discovered without this app. The only suggestion I'd have for improvement is a blurb section before you download rather than just the book/essay title, probably not needed for the classics but for the lesser known works would be helpful. For the person who complains that his prepaid is charged when he downloads - that's the cost Vodafone charges for your Internet access idiot, it's not a charge levelled by the makers of this app. I download via wireless and it costs me NOTHING. Exactly as advertised.

Mr. Among all techniques of learning, listening is an essential tool available to humans. But it's not that's listened to that matters, rather it's the quality of that thing being listened to. This is why listening to these great timeless classic would not only aid in mastering the skill of listening, but most important teach wisdom that continue to guide humans as the continue to live here on earth. One thing in listening to this classics remain incredible; and that's the availability of these classics free of charge on today's technological devices.

Fantastic. Great selection of free books for on the go. I can always find something to read when I have spare time.

Free books on iPhone. I'm a book lover from way back and I just love being able to download these free classics to my phone and re-read my favourites every spare chance I get. Thank you for making them available.

Great app!!!. Have downloaded, read and emailed to my computer with no problems. Fantastic app for those older, elegant stories that take you away :-) Would just like to know why only half the Anne of green gables series was put on though??? Bit of a tease only getting half the books....

Highly Recommended!!. Without doubt this app is absolutely wonderful. With an exceptional collection of classics, Free Books is a must-have. Exceeding all expectations, I gladly recommend this app to everyone, particularly my fellow bookworms. Free Books is definitely worthy of all five stars, and will, unequivocally, become your favourite app.

Just get the app. If you read only a few chapters of one of these books it's still worth it

Amazing. The best in the entire world and I hate reading it is outstanding who needs the kindle when you have this

Great!. Now I can read all those classics I've always been meaning to get round to reading, and have them all on my phone! Fabulous!

Excellent Value!. I just love this App.! Although most of the criticisms regarding this App. are justified, they still do not affect my joy in using this App., I just 'work around the limitations'. Some/many of the editions available through this App. would be/are unavailable to purchase in print. If you enjoy reading/learning, I Highly Recommend Downloading this App.!

SO MANY BOOKS. I cannot believe how many books there are for just $2.50- and it's even well designed! totally using this while reading on the bus every day, good stuff.

addicted to it. I love this app, some of the books are a bit heavy going but definitely worth reading. The Adventures of Sherlock are my favourite and it's really fantastic that they're all available for free on this one app. $2:49 for 23,469 books! bargain!

Books Classics. Great ap and extremely easy to use. I'm enjoying re-reading old classics and those which I have often wanted to read but didn't have the time to hunt down.

Really?. Give me my money back, the books don't ever stop rendering this is so bad!!!! Fix it now or money back!

The best!. I have used many, many apps for books before, but since I bought this one, well needless to say - I haven't looked back !!! It is by far the best choice! Thank you for the huge choice!

Excellent. A great app. Extremely valuable for what it's worth. My main criticism would be a lack of scrolling options in text (sometimes if I want to read a specific chapter, it's a nightmare to find by going page by page). There are also numerous formatting issues, especially amongst the prefaces of most texts. All in all, a valuable and entertaining app.

What better way to carry a library!. A wonderful range of great books of quality. I'm currently reading "Pygmalian" and I'm getting more pleasure than in watching "My Fair Lady". I find I am reading a lot more now than I have in year's. App loaded easily and I've never had any problems downloading a book. To buy hard copies of the books available would cost thousands. This app is better than living next door to the library.

Awesome. One of the rare things that is worth a lot more than what you would pay for it

Not Great. It definitely does crash, and the whole thing seems rather slapped together quickly.... with detriment to the functionality and ease of use. However up to this point it does seem to deliver, as the title dictates: free books.

*sigh*😤. Been trying to use this ever since, every time I update my phone, it never works can’t believe I have wasted my money on this 😡😫

Can not beat this app. If you enjoy reading this app is for you. All the old classic. Thousand's of books to choose from.

Wonderful App. As the title suggests, I am very impressed with this app. Easy, accessible reading of great literature, whenever you want it. I bet you wouldn't go to the store to buy a bunch of cumbersome books that would just collect dust on your shelf, but with this app you get the best of it all - highly recommended. I would love to see some newer titles, but that's for the future

don’t waste your money.. Can not download any book at all, don’t waste your money.

Ish. No recent books, crashes all the time and brings you to the home screen constantly. Overall 2.5/5

It's great with one exception. I am enjoying this app however, when reading several lines of text is sometimes cut off. I have to keep changing font size to try and catch it. And sometimes it won't change the font size.

👍. I like it 👍 very good

OH MY GOD. all i got to say is YESSSSS!!!

Most used app on my iPod.. This app is constantly in use on my iPod you can never have too many books to read.

Free books. A great app for the money if you like old books. A few little glitches but it is a pleasure to use.

The best app for booklovers. Now that with the latest updates issues of font size and occasional crashes have been fully and satisfactorily resolved this is the only app for booklovers. Highly recommended. It is by far the best and easiest way to read and access the thousands of books in Project Gutenberg. I like very much the fact that books can also be sent quickly to my computer in pdf format, allowing me to do word searches.

My Man Jeeves. Delightful collection of short stories. Somewhat formulaic, but very funny. Excellent prose, and well-crafted plots. Note--not all the stories are of Jeeves and Wooster. Some of them feature Reggie Pepper, an upper-class twit similar to Bertie Wooster.

Doesn’t work anymore. Not worth downloading

Really, really good!. A must have if you enjoy reading on the go!

Awesome A blast from the past. What a wealth of wisdom and it cost 3 bucks

Ansis Poryitis. In the coffee shop as I read these books, day after day ( Horror, Mystery and others, some by big name authors) I realize I PAID MORE FOR MY COFFEE !!! This is one app WELL WORTH BUYING! I'll probably never buy another book again! It's gonna take a while just to see what "gems" I already have in my library, which is ALWAYS in my pocket or hand! Adjust the brightness and the Font size. It remembers where you left off, I never miss a phone call and it has always loaded & worked correct! ONE OF THE BEST! DEFINITELY A MUST! I've never done as much reading, because I never liked being stuck with an awkward book when I go out, and now I never will. SAVE TREES - BUY THIS APP !!! I used to envy people who had big libraries. Now for a lousy $2 - 23000+ books in my pocket, they envy me! I don't have to go home to look something up!

Best. Overall, best app in the store, how can they cram that many ausome books into a .99 app?? This is app is a must have for well, everybody in the world basicly. Buy it. Best thing ever. Also, that's for the icon change.

Rendering the books takes forever!. Terrible app. Not recommended.

Great app. I enjoy being able to read classic books all at the touch of a button.

A Great App. Tons of great books (esp. classics) at your fingertips! What more could book lovers ask for?!

Good app for old books. I wanted to read more up to date books like Kanada and Meggidos Shadow but I can't :( you should put both old and new books and this app not pre 1923 I'm only 13 I don't wanna read books 88+ years old, I want to see a selection of newer books

Absolute "must have". Amazing app. For what it does it is priced so low that I am surprised that not everybody has it yet. Instead of being "nickled and dimed" for this title or that you can have it all for just 2 bucks. Not only the books U pick will be e-mailed to your account but U can download them to your iPod. Great app., simply must have.

Free books. Simply phenominal for the avid reader!

it is ok if you like really old books. It would have been nice to know that the books do not include anything written in the last 20 years. I probably wouldn't have bought it. However the classics are nice that are on there but there is a lot of garbage books as well.

Absolutely the best book app!. The best book app out there but hard to find on the App Store!

Great app!. Free, easy to use, great selection of classics. I am only on my second book right now, but very happy with the app.

Good. Good

Simply great. The wonderful thing about this app is how it enables curiosity and serendipity to have free reign. I have discovered and actually read many a "quaint and curious volume" that I otherwise never would have such as tolstoys essay on Shakespeare or darwin's autobiography. Love it!

Argh!. I absolutely loved this app until its recent history of crashing. I have spent hours downloading 100s of books to the app library only to have the app crash and I lose ALL my saved books!! This has happened to me twice now. I no longer want to go through all the books for hours recreating my library because I don't know if the app will crash again. Please, please fix! The crash is when I try to open the app and it just hangs there doing nothing (whether or not I'm in airplane mode). The only remedy is to delete the app and reinstall which of course makes me lose my saved library!

Good value. I tried the app because I was not sure if I would like reading on my iPod touch because of the size of the screen. For the price loads of books to choose from. Happy to say reading a book on my iPod was good, size of print & background easy on the eyes.

Ok. This is a ok app it has only older books from like 1880 and older!! So don't be expecting twilight and it randomly brings you back to your home screen.

Great app. It is old books that are no longer copyrighted, but that's okay. I've found a whole bunch of gems through serendipity. Well worth the couple of bucks I paid for it.

Amazing. I recently purchased "Beyond good and evil" from Chapters, unfortunately I just found it on here too! I guess I've been wasting money on books for years because there are so many good books on here for basically free. I'd pay 20 dollars for this app. It's amazing, and very easy to use (read on)

Old Books. Most books for this app are pre-1923. So if you're looking for newer/modern books, then don't bother with this app.

Love it. I love having a single source for all public domain books. I just wish they would add more free audio books. But I hate that this latest update has removed the screen locking function. Makes it very annoying to read laying down

GOLD MINE. What a GOLD MINE of old timeless books!!

So happy to stumble across this app.. The sheer number of books is staggering.

Great App!. Canadian - Never without a book, great for travelling.

Good choice. Have spent countless hours reading a wide assortment of books. No more waiting or waste time wherever I go. Great reading the old classics. You could add another category for religious titles but other than that I highly recommend this app!

Love this app!!. One of my favourite apps - I highly recommend it! Definitely deserving of five stars.

Kel. The books will not load! So frustrating. I used this app a lot a few years ago, read up on a few classics. Now I will have to search for something new.

Great app. If you love books, especially old ones ,this is like having the world at your fingertips. Great for fiction and research too .

This is a GREAT app!!!. This is a great app, there are so many books to read! Oh and for all those si-fi fans there are stories by frank Herbert, Fredrick Pohl, Phillip K. Dick and Olaf Stapledon. The onlything I would add would be stories by Arthur C. Clarke, Robert Heinlen and Isaac Asimov! That would be GREAT!

Application awesomeness. Great app, well worth the money!

Saskaman. Rate Free Books? Hmmm, thought I paid $1.99 for this... Anyway, I like it.

You don't need this if you have iBooks. Most of the 23,469 books appears already available on iBooks. The usability and user-friendness of iBooks are better than this one. Feel that i've wasted two dollars.

Excellent. Great app with lots of classic content. I really like the ability to email the book to my computer if I don't want to read on my iPhone.

Free classics!!!. What else needs to be said.

well done. Selection is impressive. Different font types and sizes are available. Background page color may be selected. I don't seem to be able to find bookmarks though. Reading position, while kept in memory, is stored by page only, but only one such position is available for each work, a minor negative point. Adding bookmarks and the ability to jump to specified chapters would be very helpful.

Awesome!!. I don't know why anyone would complain about this app. There are thousands upon thousands of books (yes, they're classics, which means older books, but still good books) and you only have to pay 3 bucks one time to read any number of books how ever many times you want. They have them in English as well as in whatever language they were originally published in. If you like reading digital books, get this app!

Best app ever for people who like to read.....alot. This is my favorite app. It is like having a library on my iphone all the time. I use it to read at bedtime, when waiting for an appt. or just in the middle of one of its books I can't wait to finish. I always have something to read right with me on my phone. I have found wonderful new authors like Anna Katharine Greene. It is just great. Very easy to use...its the best.

Freebooks. This is my very favorite app. I'm finally getting to all the classics I never got around to reading, and I get so excited to browse the endless selection. Page layout is easy to read. Collections and genres nicely organized. The recent upgrades of reviews and similar books that come up when you choose a book are awesome. The only minor thing (which does not dent my 5-star rating) is that I wish the search function was a bit more forgiving for minor errors. But still, the best app in the world.

Waiting made less painful. This app does a great job of organizing public domain works into an easily searchable, downloadable format. The set-up is user friendly, books download quickly, it saves your place, and best of all, it makes good reading available wherever you are: waiting for the doctor to see you, waiting for your flight at the airport, waiting your turn at the license bureau...you get the picture. Yay! Waiting is no longer miserable, it's my chance to read!

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Loving this app! Wonderful selection of books, and the interface works very well. Easier to read than I anticipated on this small iPhone. Read Anna Karenina, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, a number of Dashiell Hammett stories, a Lord Peter Wimsey (Dorothy L. Sayers) mystery, an Agatha Christie mystery, the Mysterious Stranger by Mark Twain, and now in the middle of The Mysterious Island (another Jules Verne). Great stuff! Might not ever have gotten around to some of these had it not been so easy and convenient with this app.

Worth every penny. I'm not much of a reader, but I've always wanted to read some of those old classics that I was too lazy to buy or check out at the library... As for improvments, not all of the pictures work, and when I try and go to the next page with my left hand it sometimes goes to the previous page instead, so it needs to be less touchy... But other than those picky things, this is a great app and I'm finally enjoying reading!

Excellent. This is the app most used and best loved of some 70 on my iPod. I am so delighted to have access to so many wonderful classics and books out of print, many of which I have wanted for years! Now, instead of looking into vintage shops, physical or online, I come here first. It is also super because I have limited physical storage space, and can store sooo many more books this way! Many thanks! No bad points, by the way.

Great, Reliable Book Reader. This is a great app, you can read any classic book ever written. Nothing new is put on, only the books that stood the test of time are in this app. They still have 23,469 books, so chances of finding a book your looking for are very high. The reader is a simple, easy to use interface that makes your reading experience worth while. You can also e-mail the book to your computer to provide a larger screen. I highly recomend this app no matter what the price to anyone who has missed a classic or wants to reread a classic.

App Review. I LOVE this book app!!! I have read a dozen murder mysteries from the 20's & 30's- so much fun! Best for me, though, has been finding biographies and first-person accounts of Abraham Lincoln written during his lifetime and immediately after his death. Amazing to read the perspective of those who actually lived with the Civil War and the assassination tragedy!! I tell everyone about this app! I absolutely can not recommend it highly enough!!!

Good content, Poor execution. This app is impressive in the breadth of the books that it offers. I was especially excited to see editions of books in thier origional languages. I love being able to read Beowulf in the origional Old English as well as in translation. However, this app provides no way to turn to a specific page other than a crude slide bar. This makes it impossible to read anything other than short, light works such as essays. Who wants to flip through an 800 page poetry collection cover to cover? Or how about navigating 500 pages of Kant without even any form of contents. Until the developers add a search system, bookmark system, index, or, at the very least, at table of contents, this app is usless to me even for most light reading.

A Near-Perfect App. I have only had this app for about 5 days, and I've already read Sophocles' Oedipus plays (which were handily all included in a single download) and am halfway through The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Goethe's Faust is next on my list. The only thing I don't like about this phenomenal app is that there are very few books past the year 1923. We need books like 1984 and The Lord of the Flies to be available. Other than that, absolutely amazing.

Classics always the best. I'm not much into the new literature, not much Imagination all seem the same repeat of stuff. Where can you find books on history of tea making and Edgar Allen Poe all in one nice package. It's simple and to the point and for those who want more, go spend your 299 bucks on a kindle I'm sticking with this app. I prefer common sense logical literature any day over mass produced fantasy induced rubish.  just mu opinion.

Mobile Library. I am a busy person and this app is just awesome to have on hand when I have a few minutes to catch up on some good reads. Many titles that are hard to find that I have seen here which is even better! And no searching just all right at your fingertips. I like the fact I can browse catagories so easily and I am finding books I didn't even know about or had forgotten about. Great user interface too!

Great app for classic book readers. I enjoy this app very much. I have one criticism. I downloaded War and Peace, and I believe that not every word of the novel was copied. Some sentences are not complete, and it seems choppy at times. I know the book is very long, and I can understand it can't be easy to get it just right. I do greatly appreciate this app., and the work that is put into it. I recommend this app. if it will work for people's phones.

Reviewed: the free books. I've always read a great deal and since my retirement began, one of life's pleasures is to me a veritable treasure with stacks and stacks and even more stacks of places to visit, people both high born and low to meet, mysteries to solve, jungles to learn what a fight for survival can be. Let us not forget the opportunities to read of virtually of place near and far and the stories which reveal our greatest heroes and the odious swine who would harm everyone without our Cops, Frontier Marshal's and Rangers and certainly the young who were and are sent to fight and die for old men's Peckish natures. What a tremendous wealth, in a moment's effort, one can read always of the who, the what, the where, when and how of the world and even beyond. And You offer it FREE ! What a truly great gift, for in books you give us the whole world in every scenario! Thank You, Indeed. PPartri727.

Free books excellent!. I read the reviews and was about to decide not to download this application. I did not follow my instints and to my surprise I found myself downloading all kind of books. I have not had se experience as those that tell you it freez your iPod. I have no idea what they do to freez it. But I downloaded book of around 1900 pages and I haven't experience any freez. Fort the price it is worth the money. $1.99 is nothing. Hope you enjoy it as I am enjoying it.

Overall a solid reader. Free Books has a smooth interface and a pretty good selection of books. The option to view the book in the app or have it e-mailed is a nice touch. My app crashed twice when I first started to use it, but it was fine the second day and ever since then. The page scrolling/flipping works well, and the hidden menu function while reading is very nice. I would recommend this app; it is worth the (current) $.99 price. I was impressed with the book titles offered; I expected much less titles.

APP OF THE YEAR. Ths is a great app. I am currently a high school student and we are required to read multiple classic books. 1.99 for twenty something thousand books is a great deal. You don't even need wifi do download them and it only takes 2 seconds to download an entire novel! I ABOSOLUTELY love the highlight feature because it's easier to find definitions for my vocabulary words. This app will help me a lot throughout school!!! 😃👍

Excellent. In my opinion, this app is excellent! I love having access to full length classic literature for such a decent price. The selections are great, with such books as War of the Worlds and Gulliver's Travels. The only thing I wish I could get out of this app is more modern classic literature like The Great Gatsby and Fahrenheit 451. If you could that this app would be ten stars! All in all though, this is an awesome app if you are into reading. I highly recommend it!

Free eBook Reader. This is a pretty good app. The selection of classic books is good. The only thing that I have found that would be nice to change is having to download again books that have already been downloaded before. Sometimes I may download a book but not read it right away. Well, if it sits too long then you may have to download it again. And a lot of times this happens when I don't have connectivity.

Fantastic!. This app has a lot of the rare old science fiction and fantasy, as well as history, religion, and many other subjects. A free app that does all of this and does it well will always be part of my phone, tablet, and notebook. I don't understand the negative reviews, particularly those about performance. Free Books has always worked for me and everyone I know. In my experience tech problems are usually operator malfunction and should be heavily discounted. This app even works reliably with Windows!

Pretty Cool for the cost.. I have studied Buddhism for over 30 years now. Does that statement make me a spiritual narcisis (Sp?) Anyway, this app is pretty cool for the money. I haven't listened to it for a long time yet but, from what I have heard, it is pretty good. I usually listen to the spiritual stuff and so far, so good. If you factor in the cost, this is a great app. I am also a disable Navy Veteran and apps like this one, and other apps like it, says it only covers stuff from the 1927 and back but that is not the case. This app has "State of the union addresses" from presidents as recent as Pres. Obama. I served under Pres. Carter and is in Iran Hostage rescue task force. This app covers stuff like that. Anyway, co app!

Loved The Old Curiosity Shop.. This app is fab. I have a companion no matter where I am. I adore classics. No torn pages, losing my place, or books stuffed in my purse. Happy, happy me. Whee! I have spent time pleasureably in horrid situations such as DMV or hospital waiting rooms or boring staff meetings. A downside is not having certain titles, but this is not even a blip on the radar. There are sufficient to keep me occupied for quite some time. Phenomenal price, incredible app!

Fabulous. I have always looked for something similar since I first bought my I-Phone. This is a huge collection of classics, some of which I heartedly wanted to read but never had the chance to lay my hands on. There you go! Thank you guys for giving us this tremendously-appreciated opportunity to have access to such a great collection of books. We will always look forward to having a wider ranger and a bigger collection of temporary authors, as well.

to get the older version back.... So I love this app, it's definitely worth $2, BUT I liked the old interface better. If you want the old version back and you DIDN'T update though Itunes, just delete the updated version before you sync your device. Then go into your apps, enable the check box for this app and sync. This will restore the older version. Hope this helps! WARNING: you WILL lose your places in books and have to redownload all of your books.

Free Books. I think that free books is great, there really is a deep archive for the $0.99 cents that is paid. I also like the feature where you can store books to have them on the go. The only drawback are the limited current titles. I would like to see more titles written up until the 80. Some great examples: Hatter Fox and When the Legends Die, both great books, but currently very hard to find or out of print. They however would be great aditions to any library. Other than that, Free Books, keep up the great work! :)

Love this!. I love the free books app! I have read many stories from the early 1900's. I was telling my father-in-law about a series of books that I liked, "The Rover Boys" and he smiled and said that they were his favorites when he was a kid! We don't have much in common, but now, we have very old books in common! I love reading for free! It is like going to the library without leaving your house:) I do not think I could even come close to reading all the "public domain" books!

No words?!!. No words to describe the hidden gem I happened upon when I discovered this app!!! After download I was very impressed with the collective works offered at only a few bucks!... Well I love that Poe, Dickens, Twain, Stoker, HG Wells...are at my fingertips at my leisure. The list goes on... All the classics you dreaded reading in 10th grade English that as an adult you secretly wished you had actually read the book, instead of BS'ing the book report! Are in this app!

Worth the money for older literature. Used the free app and opted to purchase the full app so I could bookmark places in what I read. No problems with the free app and none with this so far. Love the choices of old literature I can choose from to make a library. Glad I downloaded this app because it allows me to read on the go without a wi-fi connection and without carrying around paperbacks. A must have for literature enthusiasts.

Wonderful App!. This is a simple, innovative app that provides access to reading material that isn’t in the average household library. Even though most of the content is pre-1920ish, its still a great source of reading. I discovered a few old favorites as well as several titles that were on the “must read” list that I just never got around too. The e-reader is easy to use, but it would be nice to be able to jump around inside the books. Perhaps a page selection in the future? All in all, WELL worth the buck. This is one app I’ll never regret buying.

Poor quality app. I am very disappointed with this app. I expected a normal screen size book such as comes with a typical iBooks selection or Kindle selection. The size of the page appears to be more suited for an iPhone than an iPad. When choosing 2x size the page then fills the screen but the text is not fitted to the screen it is merely 2x size and blurry. I was looking forward to classics available with a normal page viewing size. The Three Muscateers for example goes from the normal book page count of about 700 pages to almost 3000 due to the reduction in word count per page! Don't waste your money as I have.

Great find!. I really like this latest version. I like the new ability to switch page orientation. I've recommended this app to many of my friends and family. The expansive library offers the largest selection of material than any other app I've found. I'll never be without a book again! And just think of all the trees we'll save!!

WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE!!!. You'll be hard-pressed to get more for your money anywhere. This app is exactly what it says it is: thousands of the greatest works of literature free with a one-time $2 app purchase price. The books download easily and quickly; you can store many of them at once on your phone; and the app opens up right where you last left off. Smooth, seamless, attractive interface. What's not to love!

Great Material!. You will never be bored. You can educate yourself on almost any topic and read possibly every Sherlock Holmes story there is, among others. And yet, this app needs: (1) To show the 1st publication date of a work on its title/author listing of search results, because now you have to download and open a book to find out, which is a pain when you want to read series, or other materials, in the order they were written; and (2) to include at least any/all illustrations or figures referred to in the text; (3) color would be great, but (1) and (2) are a priority. Overall, a superb resource!

Needs better organization. A really good app, with access to all sorts of classic books, short stories, etc. However, I find it extremely frustrating when (1) browsing a category (such as mysteries) by author, or (2) going through my "library" of downloaded books to find a specific author, because the authors are not listed alphabetically by last name. They are listed alphabetically by first name, which is especially irritating because some authors who are known by their initials (such as P.G. Wodehouse) are hard to find when you don't know their full first names. Otherwise, I would have given this app 5 stars.

Pretty good. The book program is pretty good. The only problem is that it is a little misleading with the number of books it claims to have as a great many are in languages other than English. Also, because there are books in other languages, there should be filtering options... if there are, I couldn't find them. Overall very much worth the cost.

Forget the library!. All classic books are here! I'm reading Ulysses and it's a great! I read on iBooks on my ipad, but when I'm at worm u try to read a few pages on my iPhone, alot of these books can also be found on iBooks for free, but then ibooks isn't on the iPhone yet, but when it is, you can get the audiobooks version of this app, and listen to booms in the car, I have both, and hey it's got me reading again for the first time in 10 years!

Superb Selection of Classics. Having access to so many terrific books, many of which I had read years ago but many more that I had not, is so very rewarding. It is an education to browse through the selections. Of course there are some books that may not be "great" but that is irrelevant; they can all offer something. Finally, I direct all to the wording, punctuation, grammar and thought (or lack of) shown in all of the less than 4 star reviews. Comical and sad but they also convey the excellence of Free Books by their ignorance.

Classic! . This is a great app to access books that are public domain, which means the copyright is past or never was. I love the page turning! So easy to keep your place. This app is well designed and is great for midnight read without need for a booklight. I love how it bookmarks each book so you can read a few at a time. And love that they seem to be unabridged!!! Worth the price!

Enjoying it. I really enjoy this app. I find it awesome that I can go on and pull books from pre-1900s which is really one of my favorite areas of literature. The only complaints I have are that I wish it had some more collections of novels and more poetry, and I wish their was a chapter system which would make navigating the apps a lot easier. Also, provide a few more color schemes for the pages because sometimes the blatant colors hurt my eyes. Great app! Keep the updates coming!

So worth it. . Best app I've ever downloaded. I honestly spend more time on this app than I do using any other feature on my phone. I think all these books are pre-1929 and exempt from their copyrights, and that's why they're offered so cheaply. However, their lack of price does not reflect a lack of content; these books are the epitome, the bare essence, of literature; and the classics are what all writers look to. They are the inspiration, the last original human ideas forged in our time.

Thats alot of reading for $0.99. Okay, I admit it, I havent been reading enough lately because I havent had a ton of free time. This little app is great though, I can read whenever I have a spare moment without having to lug books around with me. Besides.... 20,000 books is pretty hard on the back.. My only complaints are that I cant choose to use a scroll movement, I have to turn pages, and theres no way to jump to a specific section. Not all books are meant to be read from to back - Id like to be able to jump to a section from the menu.

Books. There are so many books on this app. There not modern, but you can find something different. I also like how the reader is set up. It tells you how many pages, let's you change font, and black on white sepia or white on black. For such a cheap price, why not get it??? There are many genres and collections by authors. They have Jane austens books in one place. Also once you download you can read anywhere. Awesome app. Buy it

correction. In one of the reviews I read, the person spoke of not being able to skip around in the books and that she had to read it from front to back. That is not correct. If you look at the page examples, at the bottom of the first one there is a "slide bar" that looks like the music volume controls, you can use that to skip anywhere in the text. This is a really cool app, if you like to read!!! Especially cool if you like to read classics. Also has some interesting literature (nonfiction), as well as the bible, etc. Enjoy!

Wonderful titles, great accessibility👍🌟. This app has a wonderful variety of genres, authors, and just plain great reads! For those that need accessibility, bOth this app and their free audiobook app are highly compatible with apple VoiceOver and the font size is also adjustable. My husband is visually impaired and he is able to enjoy these titles fully. We have recommended this pair of apps as true winners! My only wish is that more titles had synopses or reviews so that you could get more of an idea of the subject/style before choosing to download a title.

Freebooks. I've collected books most of my life (mostly classical literature), and I have a massive text library. I first found this app while looking for a good text reader I could easily load many of my books into. I'm impressed with it's selection of public domain works as well as the format of the books and the layout of the browser. Definitely my favorite app regardless of a few small flaws. With the recent updates, it's only gotten better.

Do you want access to a library of Public Domain books?. ..if so, you got 'em! While this app is not the most exciting piece of software for your iPhone, it does have a large library of books as advertised. You could read The Bible, Huck Finn, Edgar Allen Poe or even the Autobiography of St. Ignatius - for all you SJ enthusiasts. Since we know it has books, let's talk about the features. -Easy to navigate -Easy to search -Easy to load the books -Easy to read Seems like a slam dunk if you want these books. I only rated it 3 stars because it's not very inventive, but it's a good app. Like the Iron Curtain styled icon too!

Possabilities.... I am having problems, I think the book has downloaded in full, and the reality is that it hasn't. I would like sone kind of measuring indicator, a dial, a line filling up. Unambiguous experiencing an occasional boot out of application like when the phone rings or I receive email... This app is so important on so many levels, it creates access for so many that do not or would not have the opportunity to tap into the wealth of knowledge. I hope the app creators will continue to update the application more assertively...

Free Books. This app. exceeds all expectations. I now have easy access to a wealth of great books, which I might not have ever read otherwise. The sepia pages are easy on the eyes, and you can tailor the font size to your preferences. I do wish the option were available to scroll the document, though. I would prefer this, to only being able to flip pages, as is.
