Great app! Worth the $. This app has been a great help while looking for books for my children! I wish I could type in the titles but being able to scan the barcode is also great too! Love the app! I think it’s well worth the small amount of money paid!

It WAS great last year. I’m a Second Grade Teacher and I used this app all the time, last year my students even used it with ease. It was so helpful in finding the AR level and number. It hasn’t worked yet, for the 2 1/2 months we’ve been at school. It keeps saying it can’t find the Accelerated Reader site, whether I’m using our schools network or my own personal network or any other network. It used to be great. *Revision two days later: I deleted the app and reinstalled it, as recommended by the developer. It’s working great now!!! I’m so thrilled. I took my rating from a 2-star to a 5-star!!

Not sure what happened!. When u first downloaded the app it worked great, but every book I scan now will not give me the reading level.... I’ve looked them up and they are on the ar bookfind list!

Mixed Feelings. I have mixed feelings about this app because it works effectively as described; but if you want the Lexile number, you have to pay an additional fee!!! I bought this app to locate the Lexile levels of books that aren’t already listed elsewhere. I’m an Asst. Librarian serving parents of school children, so I look up Lexile levels often. I can’t afford to pay this additional fee for every book! This rating would be 5 stars if I didn’t have to pay an additional fee for the Lexile numbers for the books.

Faulty Reading. Lately, when scanning books, it shows the cover, gives all of the info (test number, points, words) but none of the info is correct. When my kids type the test number into the AR site, a totally different book appears.

Fails to recognize the correct book or quizz. It is a good tool. But, in a many occasions the book scanned and quiz number is not recognized in the school AR. Which means my kid wasted time reading a book that will not count or be done for an AR quizz.

A dream come true for educators and parents!. This app does a wonderful job of identifying books quickly and efficiently using the ISBN number found on the back of the book. This is a game changer for any teacher who is organizing their library or constantly updating it with new books. Any parents who are trying to find books that are in their child’s reading range, purchase now! Totally worth it!!

Add to history problem. When searching for a book title, if only one book comes up, I can easily “Add to History”. But if a list of books pulls up and I select the one I want, it takes me to a new page and the “Add to History” link is Greyed out. I use the add to history feature a lot to help remember books my child has read before he can take the AR tests. Also, a lot of scholastic books and Scooby-Doo! Books pull up a Spanish title when the barcode is scanned. These are books that are on the AR list and I can find them if I type in the title, but the barcode scanning function is not finding the correct book.

Wrong about several... Labeled all my books for AR this summer but my poor students have had several occasions where this app provides a quiz number and matching book cover but there is no quiz on the AR site. When it works it’s really convenient ! But Feel awful for the kids who discover those incorrectly labeled books.

Wordy. I just love this because you can scan any barcode on any book and it will still tell you the name and author of the book even when it is not an AR book. 😀

Disappointed. As a librarian I have loved this app for years. Lately I have realized it is not reliable. I don’t always have my computer in hand to search for books. Especially when it’s bookfair time. Students don’t want to buy books if there is not an AR test available.

Helpful with limitations. For lower grade individual books it’s great but it doesn’t work with anthologies like “a collection of dr Seuss” or 10 Pete the cat stories. Wish it could use title but the scanning feature is great

Okay. I’m a mom using the app. It works most of the time. There are some books I can find on Renaissance but not through the app. I’d love to be able to add check marks to books my son has tested on. I love the ability to scan on the app but then have to run to Renaissance to see if my son has taken an AR on the book.

Immediate Information. I have just spent my lunch break downloading and trying this app. I think it’s great. However how can I retrieve this information to attach to the books in my classroom library. Do I email myself? Help!!

Best app EVER!!!!!. So worth the price. This app was AMAZING during our Book Fair. Took only a few seconds to find a book. My new favorite tool for the library. No more searching for AR quiz numbers, BL and points.

Good so far. So far this is quick and easy to use. I wish I could search by title directly from the scanner (rather than going to the website). I also wish this gave dra/scholastic levels with 1 scan. Other than that it’s been great

A MUST HAVE for teachers. This is the best $1.99 I’ve ever spent for school related apps. I have hundreds of books in my class, but I’ve never finished creating an AR library because it was just too daunting. With this app, I can scan all my books, pull the ones that are AR, print my list, and make labels at home—so incredibly handy!

AR reading program. If you’re child does the AR (accelerated reader) program at school this ap is a time saver. It allows you to scan the barcode on the back of the book and you get the reading level, quiz number, title and author. My stress level has been reduced by having this ap on my phone when shopping for books, at the library and for the books we have at home. Love it! I will be telling my children’s teachers at their fall conferences this week!

Not working/updated. Update: reached out to developer via FB page. Quick response and quick fix. Thank you for your responsiveness. Excited to upload my personal library into the app. Thanks! Have had the app for about three days and it won’t connect to AR today. Was able to scan a few books using my iPad when I first downloaded the app and those didn’t transfer to the app on my iPhone. Disappointing to think I can’t switch between devices to scan the books into one database. Overall disappointed. Not worth the money.

Disappointed. I purchased this app because of the high reviews. As a teacher I have a lot of books to level. Out of the first five books I scanned, the app had no information on three, the fourth book scanned came up with the wrong book altogether and the fifth gave a Lexie level but not the F&P.

Best app ever!. LOVE!!!! As a teacher always looking for books to fill my classroom library, this app is a lifesaver! I can quickly scan the barcode at a garage sale or goodwill and know immediately if it is appropriate for my students. Seriously don’t know what I’d do without this app!!

So Helpful & Easy!. My child needs to read books for the AR program and this app makes it so easy to determine if the books she selects are eligible for a quiz and helps us determine if it's at her reading level. We use it all the time at the bookstore and library as well as books we have at home.

The app would be much improved in my opinion if it would list the books in alphabetical order.. Also, get rid of the RockStar book that pops up for some indecipherable reason. It slows me down.

Not as good as it was!. I am a librarian and I use this app to mark our accelerated readers. In the past two weeks I have had kids trying to test with quiz numbers provided on this app and they are incorrect. I am now hesitant to use the app. Please correct problem.

Very helpful. I am happy with this app. But I would love for it to have a couple features not currently available. It would be a huge help if we can put a check mark next to the books that have been read. I have more than one child’s book list here and it’s getting harder to keep up with who’s read which book. Maybe adding a few different color check marks can help tell who read what also. That would make this 5 stars

Barcode doesn’t always work. I got this app so I can scan the barcodes and not have to go to the AR website and type in the name of the book. But many many times the barcode says not found but the book is found when you type in the title to search.

At. I think this app awesome because you get to see if your air book has points a lot of points or if it has less votes and you can see if a book is AR think you and I love you

Don’t waste your money or your time.. This book scanner can’t find the right books 90% of the time. I’ve had better luck just going to AR Book Find and typing in the titles. That website finds them every time! I thought it would be amazing to have an inventory of my library books, but it keeps adding the wrong titles to my inventory, so it is pretty much worthless. Use your laptop or chromebook.

AR Reading time saver. This app saves me at least one hour when I go to the library to find AR books. Scan and get AR level, point value, word count and more.

Totally awesome!. I used to have to log into my daughters account and punch in all the numbers on the barcode of the books to find out something so simple like the AR level. Now it’s just one beep and I know the info. It makes life so much easier.

Needs work. Often crashes Has delay in finding books Can't find many AR books The basics are not done well These should be improved not sure why they have not been in the 4 years we have been using the app

Horrible app. This app is horrible. It scans and gives you information but when you have your students actually try to use the Quiz numbers they aren’t even for the right books. I would say 90% of the books I scanned were wrong. Time wasted. Just used Accelerated Reader websites. I wish I had my $3 back. I’ve spent enough money trying to make my job easier and this has cost me more time than anything!

Hmmm, Dinosaurs Before Dark. Every Junie B. Jones book I scan comes back at Dinosaurs Before Dark unless I type in the ISBN. So it appears if it can’t find a book, the default is Dinosaurs Before Dark. Tips: make it easier to search by ISBN (not have to scan a UPC to pull it up) Make it easier to search multiple books (instead of going back to home screen each time)

Not what I expected. At first I was happy to use this app instead of having to type every book into the AR book finder website to find the quiz numbers and reading levels. But then the students started coming to me saying that the book quiz didn’t match the title or it wasn’t on the website. So now I have to check all the books that I scanned to make sure they are AR books and have the right quiz number printed. Don’t purchase it. I regret it and haven’t used it since.

Love this app!. So great to have this tool when purchasing books. Great to use while thrift shopping for books and easy for the kiddo to use!!

Fantastic App!. This app is so easy to use. It has helped me find books for my kids for their AR tests. This app is the best thing that has ever been created for finding AR books!

Love it. Awesome app! Some books have not been rated (if they are new.) Maybe if a book is scanned, and there is no data, the app can alert you when that book is loaded into their system? Just an idea...

AR must have. I search through used books with AR Bookfinder at my side. I have passed it on to many others and the schools now reference it for parents to use on their website.

Classroom Library Game Changer. Love this for helping me to level my classroom library books, as well as allowing me to record the AR Quiz numbers inside each book. My students can easily find books are better fit with their reading levels along with giving them more independence and control during their weekly book shopping time. Even my students can use the app to check for quiz numbers for almost any book they pick up. I love, too, how I can quickly find the levels for books I wish to use for small groups and book clubs. So glad I found this awesome app!!

Doesn’t have Guided Reading Level (GRL). I purchased this app to help my daughter’s teacher “level” some new books in her collection. Unfortunately, the standard GRL system that the school uses does not show up in the information after you scan a book. It looks like a decent app otherwise, but didn’t do the one function that I was looking for.

Search. How do I search with the title of the book? I clicked on the globe looking thing it’s takes me to a blank page with search and history at the bottom but When I click search it takes me to the scanner!!!! I do not want to scan I want to type in the title?

This app needs work. This app needs to be updated. Why is it faster to type in the ISBN then it is to scan it? Why do so many books need to be manually searched that are years old? Why do I need to search the same book over and over? Once it’s found, all other copies should register. I could go on and on! Someone please develop a better app!

Lost all of the History. I’ve used BookScanner for several years now. Today while using the app, it would continue to not scan my barcodes correctly. So I looked back at some previous reviews and saw that others were having problems in the last few months. Someone with app company said to delete the app and reinstall. Well, I did that and now ALLLLL of my history of books (over thousand of books) are missing from my history!!! I’m sooo incredibly frustrated and disappointed as I use this for my classroom library to keep track of books I have purchased! Ughhhhhh!!!

I wish it had.... I wish it had the ability to keep count of how many books I have for one title. It doesn’t keep track of how many books you have in your library at all. Id also like to see it have the ability to send my complete list to my pc. Not as happy as I’d hoped to be.

Love this app.. I downloaded this app for my daughter, and it’s incredible, I use this app on a daily basis and it helps me tremendously when looking for the right A.R book for my daughter

Expected More. The scanner works only on a few of my sons books. When it gives me the option to search by title, the page goes blank and does not work.. I hope this can be resolved as I feel this would be a great app to help me figure out the Lexie level of his books.

Have to pay more than once for info. I needed guided reading levels. Once I downloaded the app and paid for it, I found that you have to pay extra for that information. You barely get any info for the price of the app, unless you pay extra. Other apps give you that info automatically when you buy them, so I would suggest checking other ones instead.

love this. I love the app. Please add the option to mark the book as loaned and if it is a favorite. Please also allow a setting to add multiple books without having to hit scan each time. There is so much potential for this app for teachers and parents.

App Price does not include Lexile info!!!. I paid the extra money because I wanted the Lexile information but the app price is deceiving. The app scans the barcode and you get some information but as a teacher, the information you want is actually another fee. 😞😠

Parent. I volunteer at my children’s school and read with many different kids on so many different levels. This tool is great to help kids get a quick idea of reading level, if it is an AR book and point value for an AR quiz fast!!! Love it.

Unable to level many books. Had to manually find too many

I used to really like this app. When I first got them app it would let me know the grade level of almost any book I scanned. Now it will find the title of the book and author but give the error message of it can’t find the book. What? I am sad that this app isn’t working well any longer.

Great app. This lets me see if I can take an AR test I love. Keep the work up.

Better before the update.. Can't manually put in a isbn number or book title. So if you're trying to decide to order a book or not you cannot tell if it's in their reading level or not. Before the update you could put in a number but they took that away.

Issue. Having issues scanning books

10 Books in a row not found :(. I am in the book store, trying to find books for my daughter and students. I have scanned 10+ books, and all are coming back with “not found.” I suspect this application is not being maintained, to include newer books.

AR readers. What any easy way to stick to my child's reading level. Love this app.

Good but one bug. When I ever scan Junie B. Junes books the results are dinosaurs after dark book(Magic treehouse).

Works ok.. I upgraded to also include the GRL. It is great when it works, which is much of the time. However there are many books that are in AR, but not in this system.

Finding book levels. Many books don’t show up when I scan them or type in the title on the app but do when I look on renlearn.

Books not entered. We buy A LOT of Scholastic book order books but they don’t all have A. R. levels. Who ever is in charge needs to get crackin’ entering the newer books.

Not working again. I’ve used this app for my classroom for years. It’s a lifesaver - but recently it has started glitching & turning off when i try to scan a book .. PLEASE FIX IT I will update my rating when it gets fixed

Books in Spanish. I teach in a bilingual classroom setting and I wish there were more books available in Spanish.

What a rip off. I bought this app to get F&P levels only to find out that in order to get that function I needed to pay some more. This is lack of transparency and integrity! Just get Book Leveler does the same and charges less.

Get Points Scanner!. An expensive app. About 25% of the books I scanned weren’t in their book bank. Points Scanner is a free app that has a LOT more books than this one

Review. Book scanner is very useful, but lately I’m not finding some of the newer books on it.

Waste of money. I’ve sat here for 2 hours and effectively labeled 25 out of 70 books because the rest come up unfound or without a reading level. I wish I could get my $2 back.

Great idea, bad database. I’m disappointed with this app’s ability to find books for my library leveling. I didn’t go with bookwizard by scholastic because the ratings were low. However, I find myself going to the scholastic site to find the information anyway. Hopefully this app can get stronger with time.

Don’t Buy This App. Just downloaded and have tried using for five minutes. Consistently freezing and not working. Such a joke of an app!

Label the book as fiction or non fiction please. I love this application. However, it would be great if this app could also label the book as fiction or non fiction.

Only partially accurate. We have found that 75% of the time, this app is great. The other 25% of the time it gives a false AR score.

Can never find any book for AR testing. This app is not user friendly and many bookshelves child read can’t be found. Wonder what books he or she should read for AR testing.
