Good app. Update: Feb. 15, 2012. Volume still not as loud as I would prefer on most readings. Cannot place comments or give stars since we do not have a "facebook" app. Odd, that you would need some other app to comment on an app. Updated to 5 stars in spite of the above since I listen a lot while ironing,or carving, or doing chores. ************************************************** Some readers are not pros, smacking lips and similar, but I can choose other books and readers that are more acceptable to listen to. Some of my favorite authors are not on the list - yet, I presume. Would be nice if the story's were a bit louder. Even at maximum setting I can barely hear some readers. Oh-and add don marquis' books (archy & mehitabel et. alis.) please. Still find a lot of readers are not talking loud enough. But really enjoy the books that I can hear. Thank you.

Works good, but buggy. My experience on an iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1 has been positive. This app understands audiobooks better than the Apple Podcast app. Pre-fetch of chapters is superior. But a lot of bugs: wants to jump back to the beginning of the chapter on resume, especially after a few days of non-use. Won't stop play when you unplug the earbuds or lightning cable. Can't be stopped or started from the locked screen. Bugs when used in my 2012 Hyundai Sonata: no way to start/stop from the car (Podcast app you can control). There is something in the iPhone that an app can register itself as last app to play, to allow easier resume. This app doesn't do that. Updates car display with book name and chapter, but minutes counter always zero. Fix some of these bugs to get a wonderful app.

Awesome. Great app. You can download all the free books you want. Great classics. A little side note to all the reviewers who give low ratings and keep asking for "more recent" books, like Harry potter and twilight: these are PUBLIC DOMAIN books. This app will never get copyrighted works and offer them for free. If u want new books, u have to pay for them. Check out audible. If u like great books from the beginnings of literature and philosophy, up until a little ways into the last century, this app is for you.

App does not load. App crashes when trying to load.

Multitasking!. Yes!!! They delivered beautifully! My earlier review is below, and this new update shows how well these developers listen to their customers. Multitasking is exactly what I needed, and the revamped interface looks great. Upgraded from 3 stars to 5 stars, as promised. *** I use Audiobooks all the time and I'm happy with the wide selection and quality. This is an excellent app if you are driving, working out, doing housework, etc. However, it desperately needs multitasking! It would be a five-star app with multitasking, but without multitasking I am limited in how and where I could use this app. Please add multitasking!

Audiobooks. Great app lots of selections. I listen to a lot of sic fi. The only tiny downside to this is the way they are listed. Sometimes I have started a series an need to download all chapters. While I am at it I will download all other chapters of other audio books. The way they are named makes it a little hard to find the left off book. There is also no way of tagging already read books or favorite chapters I would like to replay or share. I think the tagging would be the best improvement. The readers make the stories interesting. Great app.

Crashes on Open. The app used to be good, but now it crashes on open on iPhone 7 w/iOS 10.1.3. Please fix!!!

Old school Knowledge. Audiobooks is AWESOME. Not only are they free but they contain the knowledge built in values from a time past. Having the ability to hear my books allows me to take in stories an information. Like good things to eat by Rufus. I cannot help but wonder how many people on the planet outside of Audiobooks App have heard that book? Audiobooks could be a child's best companion and a parents greatest tutor. Masterful!. After searching for a an audiobook for quite some time, I decided to set my sights in this gem. I was not disappointed! The vast array of books I a welcome sight and the natural feel of the app definitely adds to the application. Everything works perfectly except for one small minor issue. After downloading some audiobooks an closing the application, the app will sometimes delete all the files downloaded, forcing me to re-download them. It would be very nice to have this issue resolved in the next update. Keep up the good work!

Great app!. Love this app, easy to use and i love how the narrator copies accents and makes each character unique! Some of these books i would have never picked out myself, like the secret garden, but am finding them quite enjoyable. In my rating, i took away one star because i would love some different, more recent books, if possible please. Other than that, this app is worth it! Also this helps me a lot in school... We read a lot of the classics, and sometimes just listening as some one else reads can be very helpful in understanding the reading.

Good but with problems. The volumes needs to be normalized. It would be nice to have one reader per book instead of multiple people with all sorts of differing accents and reading styles. The chapter indicator doesn't advance when progressing. The volume control is relative to current "music" volume setting instead of absolute volume. I like the "recommend" suggestions feature. I wish I would have been told beforehand that clearly most of the books are pre-1923. The huge selection of material is impressive. Satisfied with app but waiting for some big improvements to fix annoyances.

Changed my life!. I wish I had downloaded this app sooner. It took a bit to adjust to not having a professional reader, but now I think it's great. Instead of shuffling around on the radio or listening to the same music on my iPod on long drives I plow through books I probably would have never finished otherwise. But my favorite thing is to turn it on while I'm doing housework. The time flies, my house is cleaner than it's ever been, and I'm filling in the gaps from my high school reading lists. Love!

Best App Investment!!. When I bought this app it was 99cents, but I don't know what it is now. But I'll tell you! It was work every penny!! Sometimes it acts up and all of the audiobooks are available on Librivox but you can download chapters and listen to them when you don't have Wifi. I have listened to probably at least 20 books, but fair warning, only pre-1930 books are on here so get this if you like old books, which I do!! I'm about to listen to Rilla of Ingleside. Great investment!!

Very impressed. I just downloaded it today and started a couple of books - these are perfect. Pros: *App Menu- the app is super easy to use and surprisingly elegant for $1.99 - easy to navigate, responsive, clean, stylish, and well organized. *App Player 1 - This is very well done. The time indicators, pause/play, 30 sec rewind are well done. Even a sleep timer function! The app will remember your placement for when you close and reopen your app. Recommendation: add a bookmark feature, for reference. *App Player 2 - This app ties into the lock screen player, which is good since your phone will be playing files for a while and you can save the screen without having to log all the way back in to pause *Price - can't beat it *Selection - some of the most well known titles in the world. Art of War, Through the Looking Glass, Moby Dick, Pride and Prejudice, etc. *Value - I was looking for audiobooks for my work out sessions and driving - Found it here. Cons: *Some of the reads have some weird voices - and their mics are sensitive (you can hear them clear their throat, move closer/further from mic) - but thats not the apps fault so no negative stars - if you can get over this, you'll be fine. Recommendation to developer: Maybe have 2+ reader choices for users - perhaps. a male and a female voice option

Happy with app after reloading. I updated the app today and now I can not open it. It just crashes each time. I tried restarting and still crashed. Deleted app and reloaded it. Seems to work fine now.

Not perfect, but a nice app!. A large variety to choose from, nice when I can't read but want to make good use of time. Several different readers during the book, each taking a chapter at a time. Most are good, but a few of the volunteers have a low recording volume and a strong (i.e not American English) accent, a combination which makes it difficult to understand at times. I got around that problem by buying the companion app (from the same company) that makes the written version of even more books available. By loading the audio book into iTunes, I could continue to listen while looking up the unintelligible part in the written version...

I'm very Excited!. I'm new to this app but it's absolutely fantastic! The only reason I put four stars is because I just got into the app, so I'm honestly not fully aware of what all is there yet, but I'm already thrilled to see the massive amount of classic audiobooks essentially, for free! I'm thrilled to see that many of the founding documents of this country including the Federalist papers and the anti-Federalist papers as well as the Constitution and Declaration of Independence the Bill of Rights, many of these important priceless works are in a handy audiobook format. To a conservative Christian these so often Judeo-Christian-based revolutionary documents are of unbelievable worth.... along with many great sacred classics by great saints such as William Bradford,John Bunyan, Martin Luther, Augustine...

Worth every penny a dozen times over.. I don't pay for many programs but the gamble on this one has paid off immensely. You could go to their website and get the books and work them into iTunes yourself and listen to them. But this 2.00 is well worth it. They have exactly what the claim. Books in the public domain recorded by volunteers. You can even help them out record more books if you choose. More than classics, they also have historical documents. Many of the books will be found on college reading lists. Candide, The Federalist Papers, Lincoln's Letters. If you have ever enjoyed listening to audiobooks then you will benefit from this program and the content it gives you access to. I always tell the program to download the entire book because I don't know I'll have an Internet access.

Audiobook review. Greatest titles in the history of international literature at the touch of a button for the less the the cost of a cheeseburger!!! Love the 4000+ titles! Do many great books to choose from. Helps me expand my thoughts and my mind. It increases my vocabulary and betters my views in life. Sometimes hard to follow some plain voices yet still a brilliant application. Much rather read but this is much more economical for me and saves our beautiful green planet from the retched logging disease our world has which is a terrible obsession that impacts every organism on this planet!!!! Thanks for a truly wonderful way to expand my literature!!

One of the best apps we own. My husband and I take long road trips when we vacation of two or three weeks. We have always taken a couple audiobooks. Often we have just picked a title from what was available at the library and have been disappointed with the story, turning it off, resulting in days and miles with only our own company. ( which isn't bad but after 33 years we have heard each others tales). This last trip to Yellowstone I used the audiobooks app and was wonderfully surprised. The readers were very professional. We could download books as we pleased, changing titles if something didn't suit us. The library is, of course, excellent as they all have weathered the critics and fashion for the past 90+ years. Thank you for providing a worthwhile addition to my iPhone apps.

More than Adequate. The app functions well and the book selection is awesome! However, with audiobooks, my level of enjoyment of the actual story is heavily influenced by the reader. These are not professional readers and we should not expect that for the price! I have downloaded three books so far. I didn't finish the first because I was so put off by the reader. The second reader was not too bad and I am thoroughly enjoying the third. So finding a reader that you like will be hit or miss, but the app is still a tremendous value!

Great app.. I love to read but I never seem to get to enough books as I would like. And reading some of the classics is kind of a chore for me. This app makes it easy. My only real complaints is that when I leave the app alone for a while many of the audio books I had downloaded don't work. And I can't really say I am overly fond of some of the narrators. A lot of them speak in this expressionless monotone voice that puts me to sleep. But that's something the app can't help. Over all, it's a great app. Definitely worth a buy.

Love the ap with one tiny exception. I love this application and don't even mind listening to different people reading the various chapters. However I agree completely with Ardesco when it comes to listening to someone for whom English is their second language. I've only had the problem once so far (I expect to run into it more, since I use this ap on a daily basis) and that was with The Count of Monte Cristo. I could not understand a word that one volunteer read. Thankfully I also have the book on my Kindle application. Whenever that particular volunteer was reading I had to stop listening and would have to wait to advance in the story until I could read that chapter for myself. If I had not had the book on my Kindle I would have not been able to complete the book due to the one volunteer that I was unable to understand. As it was that volunteer probably read a dozen chapters in The Count of Monte Cristo. I still love this application and highly recommend it to my friends, along with the Kindle ap. I also especially love it when some kind soul reads an entire book. I've listened to two books so far where just one person did the reading. I realize that that requires a large time commitment, more than most people have, which makes me appreciate them all the more.

March 2017 Update Works w/ Reinstall. As the other reviewer commented, DELETE the app from your phone and then (re)download it from the app store. Unfortunately you lose your place in you book(s), but this is how you make the updated app work again. This app is the absolute BEST. I have been using it for several years now during my commute. I find it amusing that the same liber vox readers keep turning up when I finish everything by one author and go to another - they've become familiar "friends". I started w the classics I always wanted to read but never did. Then/now I just work my way from the top down the Mystery genre list, doing a search for everything by the author if I like the first book. LOTS of great dime store detective and sci fi books. Also amazing to see how much was known about other places/cultures 100-ish years ago despite the obvious communication/transportation problems. So wonderful on so many levels! The app is simple and straight fwd, yet still has a "pretty" user interface and does not feel cheap. Chapters are about 23 min each (several book chapters may be combined). The first downloads over "roaming" in about a minute or less. Subsequent ones queque as you listen so that the story keeps going and going w NO interruption. (In "Settings" on for the app on your phone you can set it so it does not download while roaming, btw. If you are worried about dats usage/charges.) Bottom line is that you need to get this app! lol!!

Like it. I have been enjoying listening to classic books as I work. I like the feature to disallow downloading new chapters until I'm home on wireless. I have been listening to about six books at any given time at three chapters each. Leaves me with a lot of cliffhangers but gives me something to anticipate on the next day. Took awhile to get used to different readers on each chapter but I like to think of it as friends passing a book around and reading aloud. Tends to start with previous chapter next day do I have to manually forward one. Won't download multiple books so takes awhile to download all queued chapters each evening. No real complaints. I've been enjoying using the app.

Lovely!. This is a free app that leads you to free audiobooks--public domain classics! It's an easy, attractive app, and the selection is incredible. If there was any downside, it would be this: occasionally the readers of the audiobooks have voices or cadences that make it a little difficult to get into te stories, but it is still doable. And I realize this is all free, so we're not listening to actors/voice actors. It's more a file problem than an app problem. Otherwise... Get it now! You know it'll get put to very good use!

Worth purchasing. This app is great. It gives free access to lots of audio books. All the audio books are free, so this app pays for itself after one book. The books are all read by volunteers, so sometimes your listening experience can be interesting. I have not however found any book which I could not understand. If you are looking for perfect readers, this would not be your best choice, but if you are looking to listen to a lot of great books for free buy this app.

Great App!!!!!. This is great app. I'm not sure but I think I paid .99 cents or $1.99 for this app. I would have gone a lot higher! I like mostly non-fiction. This app has a lot of political stuff like various president state of the union addresses. Stuff like that. I was in the covert ops to get the hostages out of Iran in the early 1980's. I can read about stuff like that. Carters state of the union address I have not looked up yet but I saw it there while browsing. Also, the Manhatan project. Stuff like that so it does have stuff later than the 1929 years. Anyway, great app for the change that you pay! 4 out of 5 stars Good app but does not always have the stuff, mostly Eastern philosophy, that I like. They have other stuff like Greek philosophers, etc.

Audiobooks Review. I have thoroughly enjoyed audio books, especially when waiting at the doctors office and the pharmacy. The selection is good; I am now listening to a diary of a WWI American who went over early and flew with the French Air Force. I read a lot, and this gives me another and different avenue to our world, past, present, and future. If you do not read, you are missing the knowledge, vocabulary, and joy of infinite possibilities that you could never otherwise dream of. Audiobooks is a great place to start.

Just amazing. In order to fully appreciate this app, let me tell you a little story. 20 years ago, when I was getting an English minor in college, if you wanted to read some classics, you had to, well, either read the book or find the audiobook. Finding the audiobook pre-Internet involved a trip to the library, then hopefully finding it on CD and not tape. With luck, all the tapes/discs were there, and they weren't too warped or scratched up. Or they weren't already checked out. You might find Moby Dick or Robinson Crusoe, but Prisoner of Zenda or The Land That Time Forgot? No chance. Now for literally chump change, you can get just about any classic you want read to you. So. Frickin. Cool. This would have made my life about a million times easier back in the day, and might have even made House of the Seven Gables enjoyable.

#1 most personally recommended app. Ok, so maybe you find yourself like me as a delivery driver that loves to read. Any knucklehead knows reading and driving doesn't mix. (I know it doesn't seem that way out on the road, but humor me here folks!). Enter one savior of my life, the Audiobooks App. I have recommended this app to more people than any other. It's just great. I have caught up on some classics, and found new favorites I wouldn't have found otherwise. Creators and contributors to this App, I would love to give you all a hug. Great job people!

touch screen. I love this app. I have my favorite readers and have let them know. I love the selection to choose from and also really like to see books available that I've never heard of before. My only complaint is that the touch screen commands do not respond as quickly as they should. Sometimes I will touch and touch and touch etc. and nothing happens and this does make for problems especially when someone starts talking to you and you can't make the reader stop!! I also wish that I had an option to enter a keyword and have a list appear but I' m not complaining--I love this app.

Good value. Good selection of classics. I really like this app and am on my third book. I love the books, some I'd not read since childhood. I'll be able to listen to great books forever with this app! I'd give it 5 stars but just had a problem with a book I was partially through. I attempted to open the book and it and the chapters had been deleted. I needed to re-download the book and find where I was. Not sure why as I'd not done anything since my last listen.

Audiobooks. These are a great way to spend long car journeys! I'm catching up on and, in some cases, having first time experiences of some of the classics out there that I didn't ever read as a child :-) My only possible issue is that some of the storytellers either read in muffled ways, read incredibly slowly (so you lose interest in a book), or that a very long book will have several different people reading each chapter; I find it odd to hear "The Three Musketeers" being read by both male and female voices, with a variety of accents, instead of just the same one. That said, it's an exceptionally long story to have to read aloud, and so can understand many people reading it, but why not choose to have just all men, or all women, read the book. That would help with the continuity. When all said and done, it is an incredible ap to have at one's disposal, and has helped add real pleasure to pass many potentially boring driving hours. Thank you to all those who have volunteered their time. I now feel inspired to do so myself!! 😃

Philistine or not you should buy this. Buying this app is analogous to buying 1000 books for a dollar. But really it's more like buying 3000 books for 3 dollars. Because that's what you're doing. Fo realz. Even if you don't like all the titles, or maybe precisely because you don't like all the titles, you NEED to buy this app. There are some really good and really important works on this and as much as I love reading I don't always have the time or energy to, so if you're not a supernerd with a super metabolism but want to at least be acquainted with more books, this is indispensable. Buy it or live in regret :)

Crashes now. Ordinarily 5 stars, but the most recent update crashes without fail upon opening on my iPhone 5c. :-/

Good idea, but.... I really like the concept and started several books. However, I was unable to download all the chapters. It would get stuck in a waiting pattern and then never download that chapter. It would download the future chapters, but that didn't help me much. I ended up having to reinstall the books over and over to get the chapters I wanted. Furthermore, this particular app caused my iPod to stop playing ALL of my music/ podcasts/ audiobooks that I had on my iTunes account. I had to delete the entire app in th end. Too bad. It is such a great idea and I loved listening to books while folding laundry or mowing the lawn.

Download Delete Redownload. It had been a while since I had chosen and downloaded a classic book from the app. I tried to open the app to no avail. Opened the Apps app, entered audiobooks, went to reviews where a few said to delete and redownload. I did that, now it works with new features and found now I have no library. Luckily I did not purchase any titles as I am an avid reader. I would be terribly upset if I had to repurchase my library. Still very inconvenient and unnecessary. The provider of the app should know this. Thanks

I like it. It functions well, looks nice, and offers a lot for the price. You will find very few things that it can improve on. Its label system while playing tells the author and title but not the chapter name when there is one. You can't browse the library to find a new book while listening to one. And you don't have just a plain complete list of books outside of set catagories or author searches. However, I still recommend this app and have bought it for all my iPod owning friends.

Really helpful app. It is so nice to have quick access to the canonical literature I need. I have found all of the books I needed for my English class. So, I can read-along and then listen when my eyes get tired. I really appreciate what the volunteers at Librivox are doing. The readers of the texts speak clearly and have some style to their storytelling. There is a nice little quick 30sec rewind feature in case you need to hear something again. It automatically pauses when my Iphone rings and saves my place. I can even leave the app and go take notes in in another app and the recording will keep playing. I think it might be helpful to have a way to find out the total length of the book recording. Overall, the app is really useful.

This is my favorite app!. I love this app because it has a broad collection of all genres (pre 1923). It is illegal to "give" away newer books with copyrights. So logically, that is why most of the texts are old. I recommend this app to anyone who enjoys classic literature, philosophy, politics, economics, exploring religions, and history. I never had time to sit down and read a 700 page book, yet easily finished it in less than a week while listening, driving to and from work.

Great app, suggestion for Future upgrade. Great app, particularly like the feature that allows forward / rewind by 30 secs. The "pause" "play" button is grayed out a bit too much so didn't realize it existed until I searched around. If developers are thinking of what next to do for major enhancements here's a suggestion: present the free text (also available in the public domain) along with the audio ....just need to have to text skip to the appropriate section being read out ( there should also exist tags for this). That way the reader can easily check I they want to verify when the reader has misread or the concepts are difficult to follow in audio in that particular section. Right now I have to download a copy if the free text in a separate app such as iBooks and look up the text.

Selected audio is a good thing. I like this app because you can download only audio books from the public domain that you want, rather than a pre-determined library. This saves space on your device. I hope it will be updated with future audio books. There is a wide range of reading talent out there; some excellent, and some not so good. My biggest gripe is when the reader's gender changes among chapters within the same book. This makes for confusing listening. There needs to be a concerted effort to be consistent within the same book, especially if the gender of the first-person narrator is known.

Good, but . . .. I like being able to find so many classic titles wherever I am, but this app has problems. It's great that i can get all these books for just a couple of bucks, but most of them are unlistenable because of the voice actors they get to read it. Obviously, to keep the cost down, they're using volunteers to do the readings, but most of them are so monotoned, unenthused, quiet and slow, I find myself losing interest in what I'm listening to very quickly. I would gladly pay $20, maybe even more, for this app, if they had more skilled readers, and if they fixed the responsiveness of the controls. I can still stomach a few of the books on here, but there are so many books I would love to listen to that I simply can't.

Excellent. My favorite app to use on my iPod. I listen to books often to fall asleep, when I ride the bus, and when I'm on airplanes (which has been often this year, so this has been a life-saver). I love that I can download several books without using all of the space on my iPod, I can send chapters to my email if I want to play solitaire while I listen or listen from my laptop, I don't have to wait for all of the chapters to download all at once, and the selection is extensive. I haven't had any problems with crashes and I am just trying out the timer, which I'm really excited about. Sometimes the readers aren't the greatest, but that's to be expected with Librivox volunteers and you get used to them. I've been finding a lot of great literature from the suggestions when I look at the listed similar books above a selection and am thoroughly pleased with this app.

Great Audiobooks & Player. This is by far my favorite audiobook app. The narrations are of high quality and the player is simple but powerful. The app crashes less than most and always keeps my spot even after a crash. Bookmarking does not appear to work, but I may lack an upgrade. I would like to be able to add bookmarks with notations or simply be able to add notes at specific points, which would work as bookmarks. It would be great if it was possible to sync the written book and audiobook and move freely between them.

Great value but could use some improvements. I love this app. I use it all the time. It's a great resource for free audiobooks and a great way to experience the classics at no cost. Audiobooks are expensive and if you like to listen to them this is a great way to do it for free. That being said there are a couple of drawbacks. The books are all read by volunteers so their abilities vary. Some are not as clear as others or as dramatically gifted as others. Some have some annoying background noise as from an air conditioner or something that affects the sound quality. Most are easy to understand though. The one thing that irritated me most initially is that for some works (a few) the chapters are each read by different people & I found it to have a negative effect on the continuity of the book. Also, each chapter is prefaced by a blurb stating that this is a Librivox recording in the public domain and lists the title of the chapter, book & author twice. I find it to be excessive that this is in front of EVERY chapter and again it interrupts the continuity of the story. I don't know why they couldn't delete that part when they edit & assemble the recording into a single recording. These things would make the app a lot better in my opinion but I have gotten used to it and still listen to it on a daily basis. If they fixed these few issues I would give it 5 stars.

Fairly good app,. I love to read and/or listen to books. This app is a decent audio book app. I do wish you could set it up to replay one or more chapters. I listen at night and while I sleep or do other things. I prefer to be able to listen to the same chapter until I have really heard and understood it. I also would like to be able to listen to all the librivox books. It is also irritating to have it always trying to sell me the other audio app by the same people. Especially since I already have that one as well. I didn't like having to buy two apps, then finding out that they had many of the same books. I felt like that was a ripoff. However, as I said before, this is a decent audio book app for listening to some of the free librivox books.

Good. I've recently discovered te joy of audio books, and it is due to this app. I can listen to them in my car! Or it can help me forget how dull it is to fold laundry. One puzzling thing occurs sometimes. The audio gets jumbled for a chapter or so (in 50% of the books ive tried) and I'm forced to skip it or find the book. I think this can't be from the original recordings, as it is the same kind of odd jumbling noises each time. I've yet to ask the question to the creators of the app. Suggestions The reader of Jane eyre (version 3) is a pro, and the secret garden is nicely read. I have had bad luck with the readers on Sherlock holmes so far. Lol not so good. But I've only heard 2.

free audiobooks - GREAT is all i can say!. I love to read. I have learned that the classics are so well written that they are like a wonderfully prepared meal. Many books i endeavor to read will make me fall asleep as i find myself troubling with the meaning or utilization of the words. I am now listening to the meditations of Marcus Aurelius. Philosphy written by a man 2,000 years ago. Listening to the words is much easier for me to deduce their meaning. I am enthralled at the opportunity that awaits me now with all of the books provided to me. This app alone is worth many times the price of the Ipod. Thank You!

How did I live without you.. I have no complaints after listening to one of the great classics. I recommend giving it a try. So many wonderful books to listen to for $0.

Good and some disappointment, but mostly very happy. I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to books as I have done my housework. It has put me in a better mood and helped the time pass. It is amazing to have so many books freely available to me, with just a small initial charge. I also love books but have little time to read and am too tired if I do have a moment. This is my most used ap. my only disappointment is the quality of reading is varied. I grew up being read stories in a very animated way and few readers have come near capturing the characters I have in my imagination, some readers even pause and lose flow as they turn page - and to mispronounce a well known authors name is utterly unbearable ! I was looking forward to hearing Sherlock Holmes - but that simply cannot be done if the reader has an intense non-English accent, the stories are as British as any could ever be! Further, one must endure libra vox advertising every chapter, but one does get kind of desensitised to it. Overall, I am delighted at being able to listen to stories - something I had no time to do.

Some great old classics. Easy to find quality old books. Keeps place well.

Books. Took me a while to figure out how to download the whole book but now I have and love it. I have to do a lot of driving for work and listen while driving.

Audio books. Very good I don't always have the time to sit and read a book so audio books are great.

New update keeps crashing.. Used this app for multiple years and never had a problem until this last update. Please fix

Poor narrator. I think the narration is everything in audio books. After all, you're listening to that person continuously and relying on them to tell the story in an engaging way. I found the narrators so far to be too hard to listen to. Monotoned, at best. Such a shame but I can't see myself listening to a lot of the books due to the poor narration.

Great. I'm an abject bookworm and was addicted to Project Gutenberg before I got an iPhone and then embraced Freebooks. I have an embarrassing habit of starting to read on the train and then keeping reading as I walk to my destination. Audiobooks have let me enjoy my passion safely. Thank you. I haven't tried the email to iPod yet, but look forward to trying this workaround for listening in the background. Some idea of the size of downloads would also be welcome. ******************** I think the thing I enjoy most about this app is the love and devotion of the readers. Many thanks and praises to them! I've used the download to iTunes function now. It is great to be able to do other things on iPhone while listening (like wwriting this review). Two observations... The option to download a whole book in a zipfile is welcome as it takes less user intervention than the chapter-by-chapter download. Also, the chapters don't play backinorder onitunes. Any suggestions? I still give it 5 stars.

Good App while it lasted. Good selection of really old classics, but there should be a more careful selection of some of the readers whose voices can be sooo annoying that you can hardly stand to listen to the chapter! Particularly the few monotone voices and the occassional one that sounds like Sylvester the cat!!! Finally an update to OS4 on the iPhone stopped this program from working altogether! Not compatible. ## Update ## Downloaded the OS4 update and the audio works once again, but it is not fully OS4 compatible as it cannot continue to play when accessing other iPhone apps or features. Does not appear to be compatible with OS4 multitasking feature.

One of the better audiobook apps but.... I like that you can prioritize but there is no progress bar when u are downloading a chapter. Also I had 3G downloading off but the app didn't tell me. So it was just stuck downloading the next chapter with no progress bar and no end in sight. I almost deleted the app thinking it doesn't work until I saw the 3G setting under the main iPhone setting section. There are so many obvious and presumably easy fixes that could make this a great app. Plus the contents and book list should be expanded. Please have more science fiction and science fact books!

Audiobook. I'm Nacoleptic and can't read books without falling asleep within 5 minutes. Anyone who enjoys a good book in bed would understand how invaluable this app is to me. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou.

The Art Of War. I have always wanted to read this book since I was a Kid, so it was great to sit back in a Big Recliner Chair and have it read to me, thanks to all involved in bringing this APP and story telling together in my Livingroom.

Really enjoying it!. I'm currently listening to "pride and prejudice" and thouroughly enjoying it. I love books but rarely have the time to read. This way I can enjoy some classic literature while folding the washing, driving or even doing the grosscery shopping!!!! Some readers are hard to listen to because of their accents but if you're lucky, there are numerous versions of the same book. Only glitch I've found is the email to itunes option has been unsuccessful for me. Also, some chapters skip and fault but as mentioned you can usually find another version. Excellent overall.

Great value for money. This is an easy to use app that gives instant access to a library of classics for the whole family. Listening to great books is slowly edging out TV time!

My most-used App. I love the new design, the range of books, and the easy listening. Most narrators are excellent. My only negative comment is that chapters do not always download sequentially or logically. Frustrating process to figure out. Also can't listen while doing another activity on Ipod.

Great app. If I were paying for the books, I might complain that changing readers within the book isn't great, but for free access to classic books from an app that is easy to use and works well, I'm happy to accept. Thanks to all the volunteer reading who have put a lot of time into making these books accessible.

Excellent app. No more dropping my favourite books in the bath- I can bathe and listen instead- perfect. The preview option is great for checking if the reader is good or not or if the accent is going to grate on you prior to downloading the whole book. Bugs with downloading seem to be sorted on this version. Thanks Audiobooks!!!

Classics. Variety of titles to choose from & interface makes this site easy to navigate around. Would be good to be able to do other things while this site is open as it currently closes down when I attempt to open another app.

Was the best App.. I would use this every night until the last update. It keeps crashing.I would like to see some books not so old tho.

Great app!. A fantastic and convenient app! All the readers I've heard so far have been great although some of the American authors mispronounce words. Still, it's easy enough to work out what they mean.

One of my favourite apps of all time. Fantastic and well worth it!! Loads of books to choose from. I like listening to them when I'm cleaning the house or going on long drives. There is also a sleep timer that turns the app off after a chosen time. Great for when you can't sleep. A truly essential app!!

Most used app. There are a huge collection of stories from every genre available for download at no charge. These tend to be classics (out of copyright I presume) and as such have stood the test of time. I have recently revisited the Sherlock Holmes adventures. They are just the right length to accompany me on my morning walk Enjoy

Great App for classics. All the books available are outside the copyright date (so mostly classics) but hopefully with more funding they can purchase rights to more recent editions. Fantastic interface and user friendly, perfect for people interested in the classics.

Totally worth it!. Besides the fact that one book is read by many different people, it still does the job! Quality is very good overall and downloading is easy.

Good app. I listen to it in the car on the way to work and it has a great selection of classics that I have always wanted to read. Having different narrators for each chapter can be annoying at times and you have to download the entire book or it freezes after chapter 3 or 4. App well worth getting!

It's ok v1.2. It's not bad that you have so many books to choose from was not aware however whilst doing a search within the app it could not find the book and came up with a msg stating most books are pre 1923! Would have been nice to know before hand Also I struggle to listen for more than a few minutes this is due to readers voices which are not that exciting but it could be just me

Great sociological study. Excellent app. with lots of functionality, I love being able to set the time so that if I fall asleep it doesn't wake me later. Some of the readers are less skilled than others but become characters in addition to those in the books. I love Charles Dickens and being able to listen several times and draw down layer upon layer of meaning is a real delight! I have not yet listened whilst driving but looking forward to an enhanced stimulating drive in coming weeks. Please keep the classics coming.

Buy. This is a brilliant app but some of the voices are unclear and hard to understand. The send to itunres feature needs to be improved as out of all the 47 books ive sent to itunes 2 got through successfully. This is a great buy and I higly recomend it ti any classic reader.

Great value. I think Free Books is one of my best value app purchases so was excited too see the designers have branched into audiobooks. Easy to use and easy on the eye. Have only listened to one book so far and the narration was pretty good but even if there's some dodgy ones in the mix I'll still be happy. I've bought audio books with cringe-worthy narration before so when it's free I won't be complaining.

wonderful app. What a wonderful app...the most used on my iphone! I have trouble getting to sleep and this app has solved that problem, I put my iphone on my pillow on at night and listen to a story....however it is so effective in relaxing me and putting me to sleep, I havent got past the first few books. But I'm happy that my insomnia is cured!!

Excellent app and service. Haven't physically read a book in ages, but have 'read' loads of audio books. This app is an awesome way to do that. Works well, good ways to search out more books. If you are sassy enough to make your own audio books from mp3's, or whatever, great, if not then definitely get this app and enjoy! Get it anyway as a good way to search for books. Perfect for driving, traveling, doing work, lying in bed, you name it. Better than tv as you can do other stuff. Get the app and go from there!

Review. It's t best app I've got. I work alone n it's a companion to me. It make work flow easily. I never read as a youngster. Now I catch up with the past learning I didn't receive. It's a great idea. I use it everyday. It has been very educative for myself.

Wonderful with a slight tweak. I love the narrations, not so professional as to sanitize the book from any ordinary member of the public. It's a good way to wind down. I often snuggle under the covers, & listen for an hour before dozing off. A couple of improvements would make it even better: 1/ Being able to start the narration, & then go out of the app to do something else ie. check emails/calendar. 2/ As the book goes into the next chapter, the chapter numbers would change, keeping pace with where the narration is at. At the moment they stay at the chapter you started playing.

Mr. Works pretty well except some of the readers are not loud enough when I am listening in a noisy environment. Also sometimes when I stop and resume listening the book starts again some minutes before. That is I am listening to what I have already heard. Despite these problems I will keep listening to the app and enjoying the experience.

Great so far!. I just downloaded this app and love it. I've started listening to the secret garden and it is very well read. The reader has a lovely accent. I saw that other reviewers complained there was no sleep button but I found one. Maybe a new feature?? Certainly easy to find. Defiantly worth it! I only downloaded it because i couldn't sleep and fell asleep partway into chapter 2!! Can't wait to listen to more.

Great. One narrator per novel please... And make sure they have the ability to read the text well... Otherwise what's the point.

Fair. The selection of titles is good. I found it annoying that sometimes the reading would start at the beginning of the chapter again instead of where it was paused. Occasionally had trouble downloading subsequent chapters I found it much better to go directly to librivox.org where there is a much bigger selection of books that I download to iTunes and sync to my iPhone. No problems with starting at the wrong place and I don't use up my data plan either.

Upgrade is disappointing. I have lost my original app where I could set the timer at night so the nook could stop if I fell asleep. I really liked that. The free books are great but I prefer English books to be read in an English accent also I liked to be able to search by reader? What happened to the original app , the upgrade is not as good.

Ok. I like that you can download. Then you can listen any time and not need internet. But I often doesn't download the whole book. Then I have to finish it on a website. That's frustrating!

Pretty good!. So I really like this app. I do wish you could search for books by the narrator. Some of the readers are horrific but most of them are at least decent. I like using this app to fall asleep to.

won't let it sync for ipod touches. this is a good app....but i paid $2 for it and it won't even let me download it because it's for the iphone, and i wanna put it on my ipod touch...a ripoff, don't buy it if you want it for your ipod touch because it won't let you sync it!!!

Princess of Mars.. This app. Is terrific, I have read all Tarzan books all the Sherlock Holmes books and have enjoyed them all but my favorites are the John Carter books by Edgar Rice Burroughs. This app. Has given me the opportunity to read these old books and I thank you.

Update library. The best thing would be to add some new books to this collection. Looked up Stephen King and got Sir Stephen King lol.

Books won't download!!. I'd give this 5/5 if not for the fact that 2 of the 5 books I've tried to listen to so far won't download completely. Also I don't think there are really 4000+ titles available, as advertised. There ought to be a simple, all-inclusive alphabetical list in addition to the collections. Even so, the selection is great, and the recordings are ok so far and the price can't be beat. All titles can be had for free at librivox dot com, but the app makes downloading convenient (or would if it worked). I wonder what the button on the left in the player is for. Thanks to all the volunteer readers!

Love this App!. Being a busy person I don't get much time to read, so now I can listen to these audio books while I'm driving. There's a wonderful variety to choose from. Also since they're free if you start listening to one you're not crazy about, you don't mind quitting and moving to another one.

Great for insomniacs!. I love reading before bed but that actually keeps me awake. Instead I snuggle down with a great classic, pop in my ear bud, set the timer and happily drift off to sleep. I have "re-read" so many great books I'd forgotten about since high school and college plus now I can't wait to hit the sack! Some of the readers are awesome, some not so much but you'll find the ones you like.

Fully Awesome!. I used this app a ton in the summer. But haven't for the last month or so because I was busy. I just started using it again with the new interface and features. All I have to say is that this is awesome!! I'm pretty sure it was the best audiobook app in the world before, but now there cannot be any questions. This is a pleasure to use and worth every cent of the asking price! Don't hesitate! Download and enjoy some classic literature.

Double edged sword. Though I risk sounding unthankful for a free app and wonderful idea, I must say people should not use an opportunity to volunteer as a reader as a means of learning English as a second language or practicing their weak expository reading. Volunteers: please seek a second opinion on your reading skills and/or read the book several times before recording the final cut. That said, I try to use this app daily; it's a double edged sword teaching both wonderful literature appreciation and patience when listening to weak readers.

I like this app very much!. I like free stuff. I like books. I like when people read to me. I like people reading books to me for free. Some recordings are not perfect and newer books aren't available but you can't beat the price. Waiting for titles to enter the public domain may not be an ideal situation but it has prompted me to further appreciate the classics. This is a great app. If nothing else get it for your kids so they'll be inspired to read.

Audiobooks. I love these audiobooks. When I was younger I did not like reading the classics but now that I am older, I have learned to appreciate them. Better before the update. The app was great before the last update, simpler and almost crash-free. Now it became REALLY VERY ANNOYING! It works after many MANY trials. the app was needless of this update, i don't even like the new look, i actually liked the app in the first beginning because it wasn't over-done in decoration but only to function well. The only good feature added to this update is its ability to resume after calls or when i exit the app..... It's a daily app to me I use it while driving so PLEASE FIX IT!!

My most loved app!. I got both the audio and text versions, when I switched to iPhone in 2010. I am in love with these works of the 'dead authors'! The beautiful use of language the economical turns of phrase! I thought the classics would be dull or wouldn't be relevant. I was wrong. I've learned to love genre that I never tried... Still listening and using this app almost daily!

Still having download problems!. I love this app, and the recent upgrade makes it look really nice. I appreciate features like the 30 second backtrack. But the app STILL has problems downloading chapters! I've deleted and reinstalled it twice, and it still won't download more than one chapter. I'm stuck! If the developers would fix this one problem, I'd change my rating to 5 stars, even with minor problems like the playback not always picking up where it left off.

I love it!. The description of the app made it very clear that this was just for works in the public domain and that the readings were by everyday people like you and me. Knowing that I wasn't getting paid for professionals and modern books, my expectations weren't high. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Not every reader is amazing; not every book is perfect, but enough are great enough to make this little app a hidden treasure.

Not delivering.... I love audio books, however, performance of application is frustrating.... Email books doesn't work, neither does loading que. I get great reception and even have wifi at home but app is rendered useless when traveling. So, I think the apps premise is worth the download and hope that a registry indicator of differentiation between partial downloaded books and more operator flexibility needed... I wrote company that makes application and went to there website provided specifics, tried calling for assist, no answer... I remain hopeful...

A Treasure Trove. While one has to get over the belief that newer is better, the selection is unbelievably rich. There is diversity in the style and quality of the readers. Some of the books I wanted to hear were in languages other than English, which is an advatantage to others. But overall I love this app. There is so much I adore in this collection, so much that is so unique. I am sure I will be using it for years and years.

Works well - with a few flaws. I like not having to go to the library for more books on CD (I've listened to most of theirs anyway). A couple of annoyances: if I end my drive and pause near the end of a chapter, it throws me back to the beginning of the chapter next time. A bit dangerous to find my place if I've already started driving. Another irritation: Wish they didn't have to insert the Libravox announcement between every chapter. 3-4 times per book should be plenty! But otherwise a great app.

Good but.... I love this app when it works! Librovox does not seem to review their volunteered recordings because if they did, they would realize that some of the readers have such a strong accents, you can barely understand them. This is where I believe Audiobooks needs to evaluate what they make available. Also, when starting the program, it will sometimes automatically kick me out. And lastly, it would be nice to have a button where you can skip forwards or backwards a chapter without having to go into all the chapters.

I can't remember the exact name of the book but was one of those science- fictiony compilations.. This was so fresh that all of the plots have been stollen and reworked in movies, tv shows, car and beer comercials ad nosium. On a scale of 1 to 10...like a 12.5!! Also, if read at a 6th grade level like I know I do, you will appreciate that they found some guy who reads like he didn't drop out til around the 10 th grade. Enjoy!

Love this app.... ...though most of the readers are, granted, mediocre. It takes such a great lot of training & practice to be a truly polished oral reader that we can't expect perfection here. We are delighted with wonderful literature, otherwise difficult to find, and I, for one shall tolerate a less than perfect reader without major complaint in trade for that utter delight. This application is well worth the cost! Frankly, I am reveling in the literary gems here!

Good therapy. I am more of a book reader but have not been able to read much while undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. Listening to Audio books have become my daily routine and a source of enjoyment. I look forward to the next chapter in the current book. Thank you,volunteers for the hours of work you have put in.

A little princess. I'm 47 and didn't realize I would enjoy classics and children's stories?! The only trouble is that I have no one to make me turn them off and get some rest at night. Reminds we of when my kids were young and we would snuggle together in bed and take turns reading to each other. I hope I never grow up completely.

Really??. Right now if I could I would give it no stars. I've had this app for almost a month not once has a book downloaded. First thing, it took FOREVER to download and if I left the app it would stop downloading. Why?! I don't want to sit there and wait for this book to download and then after it has finally downloaded it tells me I have no books in my library. Are you serious? I have no books?! I just sat there and watched multiple books download and now after all that, I have no books. Wow. I wish I could get my money back. This is literally money thrown into the trash.

Can't beat it. The new upgrade makes this a truly great app. All of the classics at your fingertips. Just wish the interface was a little better, you have to use the search function to find most of the books you're looking for. I also wish it would list the librivox reader and length of the recording.

Toddler loves it, and so do I!. We've loved this as a wholesome source of bedtime and car entertainment for my toddler. What a great app!!' I prefer to read, so haven't yet ventured out of the children's area too much, but the adult book selection is plentiful as well. I've found a number of audiobooks in French, and I use the sister app (freebooks) to read along to practice my french which is wonderful!

Nice app!. I would not take the time to read these books. I have so much to read always that I would be reluctant to read these titles. They are all the great titles we know and have read or have had a chance to read in the past. I am on my third book so far and I could not be happier. I knew I would enjoy the stories but I did not expect to enjoy listening to them read to me as much as I have. Only have had app about one week. What a great service!

Entertaining. It's hard to complain about an essentially FREE audiobook app that provides countless books. I will mention two negatives in an otherwise wonderful app... 1) The audio is sometimes very low, making the occasional accent even more difficult to understand. 2) Range of books limited to classics. Great so far!

No easy task. I am a non-traditional master of social work student. I spend a lot of time in my car driving to rural communities to check on my clients. Because I am dyslexic this app is great for me. Many classic stories have social work value to them and I draw some strength in the characters to pass on to my clients. I enjoy the diversity in the different readers. I can't read out loud without stumbling over my words. So thank you to the volunteers who are willing to put it out there and make my driving time pleasant from your words.

Love Audiobooks!. Audiobooks has permitted me to "read"- actually hear so many wonderful classics I have long known about but never read. They are a highlight of my day. After working-reading & writing all day as an attorney, my eyes are too tired to read more. And if one is ever agitated and unable to sleep, the Audiobook will divert your mind, calm you, entertain you and put you to sleep. The absolutely best therapy! Thank you for this invaluable service.

Great app. One of my most used apps. As I have interest in history I have learned much from listening. Many of these old writers had a knack for interesting plots, colorful descriptions, and insight into human nature. Some of the readers are better then others and at times I have had to reload a book to finnish loading that book. Considering the price I have no complaints. Thank you those who read.

Love it!. $1.99 couldn't have been better spent. I love to read, but as a mom, employee and college student, I don't have a lot of time for leisurely reading. I listen to this while driving or cooking or cleaning. Most of the readers are very good. You'll get a couple who will drive you crazy, but it doesn't take long to get to the next chapter, and probably have a better narrator. Don't hesitate to purchase this app!

A great app for those wishing to enjoy great works of classic literature. A huge selection of classic works in the public domain. Sure the narration may sound robotic at times because they are read by volunteers instead of paid professionals. If this troubles you then get your audiobooks from Audible at 1000 times the price. I think most book lovers will see this app for the tremendous value that it is.

Excellent!. Thousands of books, great and otherwise, to choose from. The app only DLs a sample at first, which lets me decide whether to commit myself to the whole book or to move on to another one, before wasting bandwidth, memory and time on a bad choice. Some of the volunteer readers are superb. Most are pretty good. And a few are embarrassingly horrible. An excellent app, free books. Five stars. [edit Nov 29, 2012] Recent updates make it possible to leave written reviews of the books, after registration. I started to register and discovered that Facebook membership is required! Since I will never join FB (too much self respect) I can't register and won't be able to leave glowing reviews of my favorite readers.

Lov'n it!. I've been listening to books to unwind and drift off to sleep for about 2 weeks now and it's been perfect. Added bonus: no tv flicker to disturb the missus! Great selections as well. Some favorites and some I've been meaning to read for many years. Absolutely value! So far my only complaint is that the readers can be a little dry. Nothing will ever beat "the little voice in your head's" way of coloring characters, but it falls a little short of the mark when I'm listening to the Iliad and there's no verve in the readers delivery.

Perfect. It's actually perfect. I don't think any other app I have is. Such a wonderful thing that all of this is publicly available with such ease. I recommend this app to anyone I know who is even remotely interested in literature, and it was kind of my own introduction to literature in the first place. I used to hate reading, but this was kind of a gateway for me into reading fiction (until halfway through college I only read nonfiction).

Princes of Mars. Great fun but then all of Burroughs books have been for all of the past 65 years. Now, when my eyes are old and tire so easily it is such a blessing to have so many kind volunteers to read them to me. I hope they all know how very much they are appreciated. The book services and the new technology is such a blessing. I have hundreds of books (and thousands more available) all on my IPhone in my pocket. WoW!

Why'd i buy this app?! There's a sucker born every minute.. Had an iPhone for at least 3 years. Never bought an app before this one. I figured $0.99 for >4,000 audio books was an incredible deal. It turned out to be a big disappointment. I have a great wifi connection, but the app doesn't handle multiple downloads, will drop even single downloads, and the single downloads it doesn't drop take forever. I've managed to download only the first chapter of each of two books. Attempts at downloading the second chapter of either book have resulted in complete stall-outs or utter drops. Why did I pay for this app?! There's a sucker born every minute. I must be a newborn.

Great app!. I love this app! I love being able to listen to books on my long commutes to and from work and when I'm working around the house. It only has older books, but it gives me the opportunity to hear the classics that I've never taken the time to read before. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars is that it has "crashed" (their words) and it would be nice to search by reader. Great value for the price!

Rate this app. Not at all what I expected. Boring books and time consuming to download. The readers are for the most part quite terrible. Had to stop a book as the reading was so poor I couldn't understand it. At first I thought it was another language. I had hopes this would be good for long road trips. After trying a few books I did get one that was fairly decent. However after every chapter and before the next the reader announces the end and the start . This disrupted the flow of the story .but the app is cheap enough.

Rocky Start. Disappointing start, the first searched book requested came back with a notice"Heads up" books here are written before 1923!!! It would have been great to have known that before I chose this app. My second choice was Weathering Heights was narrated by an Asian female voice who I frequently could not understand. My third choice was Connecticut Yankee which I tried to download twice but it never came through. However - the second connecticut Yankee choice worked and the narrator is Great, so I guess patience remains a virtue!

Great app--but be aware of difference. I love this app as it has made previously unknown books available to me---it seems some people think this is like a purchased audio book only free-- it's not--it's regular non voice actors like you and me reading the book aloud--a bit like when you were a kid--once you get past that, it's fairly enjoyable, though I wish they'd stick to using volunteers who aren't hampered by a heavy foreign accent--it can make understanding a bit difficult.

Good....But. I really enjoy this App so very much but I ran into a problem here in Idaho when we had 70 mile a hour winds knocking out all the power....because this App only down loads 3 chapters at a time I couldn't enjoy my book I was listening too...I was stuck right in the middle of a book with no way to get other chapters.....I wish the App would let you down load the whole book....I know it would of help while I was out of power for a couple of days.....I love and enjoy this APP very much..

Good stuff. Though the quality of the audio is mixed there's so much selection that it's hard to complain. I could find all these recordings for free on my own, but for $2 this app saves me the effort and organizes them for me. My biggest complaint is that it sometimes freezes, but so far this only happens while I navigate the interface and not while the books are being read. Keeps me well occupies during long car rides.

Good one. Like hearing the classics. Sometimes the readers are not very good or have too thick an accent. Would love more Jane Austen and Sherlock Holmes. Also about half the time I stop listening in the middle of a chapter when I go back it starts at the beginning of the chapter. Wish that they didn't have to say the whole intro over again at every chapter break. Other wise what a great deal for so many classics!

Great app. I bought this app thinking "What the he'll? if it ends up being lame I'm only out two bucks." As it turns out, I almost feel like I'm ripping them off. I've barely scratched the surface of the library yet, and I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the audiobooks. I would definitely recommend this app.

A must have. Excellent app. Try downloading the number one book every soul should have in possession and then listen to it. "KJV BIBLE." word by word, chapter by chapter, book by book. I listen to it even while driving; it keeps me from cursing at dumb drivers on the road. I thank those who made this app and made it available to us. Thanks.

Audiobooks. I have listened to a number of books and enjoyed them. I listen on the car radio while driving and find it makes the trips much more enjoyable. I have not exhausted the old classics that interest me and that I have never read,freewheel free books are great. In future I would be willing to pay a modest fee for other books if they were offered.

Rip off Alert!. I payed 2 bucks for this app and it seemed to be fine until you get past the first chapter. After that no others will load. I tried several things to fix it and when they did not work I tried to email them at the above posted email. hello@freeaudiobooksapp, only to have my email refused because it is not even a valid email. Man, can you imagine what you could do if you got away with two dollars from that many people? I can only hope it is a mistake that either the company or the app store will quickly remedy.

Very good. I really like this app. I have really enjoyed listening to all those books you have always heard about. The only thing that holds me back from the 5th star is the volunteer readers are sometimes thickly accented and difficult to understand, and in some books change readers too often. Other than that, I love it. I have never enjoyed driving so much!

Easy on my eyes. Im a couple hundred pages into listening to the bible king james version. Very impressive reading, it's a nice change from staring at words on pages. Great at night or when you'd rather take in the view. Would be great for visually impaired. Improve by adding landscape view and when adjusting time position with scroll feature your finger covers the time. All in all I'm very impressed.

Rmarion. I've just started using and I've downloaded two books so far and had no problems. Now I can listen to all the classics. I would listen to them better than actually read. I'm trying to figure out how long it will take me to listen to over 2,000 books! At first I had trouble downloading but now I have Wi-fi. I cam listen to book anywhere after being downloaded.

Love it!. This app is one of my favorites. Since the last update it has been vastly improved because it now bookmarks where you stopped. All of the titles are classics but that is okay with me. I have bought books on cd and was always searching the library for good books on cd and believe me that can get very expensive and a pain in the backside. I would recommend this to all of my friends! Thank you!
