Actually Good. I went through a few Japanese apps. Being the weeaboo I am, this app is awesome; it walks you through the language in great depth. It has quizzes with a points system. Honestly that's my favorite part, and it provides Japanese lore and explanations for the way the words are. It feels like you are talking to someone; it is like you have your own personal teacher when you use this app. The interactive quizzes are great.

Unbelievable!!. This is really an awesome app!! It's super easy to follow along and has many different ways to help you practice learning so that you don't get bored or feel like all you're doing is reading. I highly recommend this!! It also gives you a little history and talks about other aspects of Japan. Love this app!!

Outstanding!!. Very user friendly. The set up is great and very interactive which helps learning and makes it fun. I love the quizzes at the end of each chapter, it really shows if you truly understood everything. Great app! Would definitely recommend to anyone trying to learn Japanese.

Spectacular app. This app is truly one of the best I've ever used. The person who wrote this knows very well how people learn things, and he does an overall incredible job describing the language and country. I almost didn't pick this app, but I'm glad I did; otherwise, I have no idea where I would've been with the language. Definitely deserves a five star rating from me.

どもうおりがと for making this app. Very good app to learn the language. The creator(s) did a great job making this app so smooth. My only problem is that I get so intrigued by the chapters, and writing style of the author is so casual and relaxing that I move a little faster than I should through the chapters. My advice take it slow and really master hiragana before you start the phrases and verbs so that you are comfortable and don't have to rely on the romaji. I started in the light version as I was trying to find the best app for me. I think this is the one. Once I reach the end of the light version I will most definitely purchase this app. The only thing I wish that this app has would be a chart or something that shows all of the hiragana and katakana so I can easily access it if I need the help or get stuck on a character. Sort of how even after you learn all the letters in English teachers still had the entire alphabet on display in the class.

Absolutely fantastic!. こんにちは！ This app is great. If you're looking for a solid path to follow, you've found it. With this, you will have a quick and fun start to your Japanese journey, as I have so far. I will mention that some outside resources will help you a lot with learning kana. I tried the old fashioned way before, and ended up giving up for a long time. I recently tried Tofugu's Hiragana / Katakana, and have learned both syllabaries in only 1-2 days! Aside from that, once you learn kana this app flows very well from what I've seen. Very well done. A big thank you to the creators!

BEST Japanese App.. I downloaded and tried every app available in the App Store and for really frustrated because while I was learning sentences and vocabulary words, the particles confused me so much. I kept having to look up why the particles were where they were and became even more confused. This app explains everything as you learn, as well as things about history and cultural significance of words. I had no idea why the Japanese even used Kanji and I knew the kana, lol. So it’s so nice to understand why I’m learning what I’m learning. I’m definitely going to buy the full app when I’m done with the lite.

Awesome Language app!. This is a great app because it systematically approaches understanding Japanese language and hiragana in a way that is clear, and can be learned at your own pace. His approach demystifies the hiragana and i am excited to learn to read at the same time as speak. I work with Japanese patients and workers and it will be great to continue these studies because your format of instruction is so straightforward. I definitely recommend this app highly!

What a find!. I'm just starting out with Japanese and have tried a few other free courses, but this one is by far the easiest to understand! It has explained everything in an extremely comprehensive way, and I finally feel like I am getting somewhere with this language! I highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn Japanese.

Who Knew It Could Be Made Simple?. At first, I dreaded going through this and having to rote memorize a whole series of diagrams, (knowing that the numbers of characters in Chinese was voluminous), originally written by the Chinese, and adapted in different ways by the Japanese. But this program, by keeping it paced, simple, and logical, has me looking forward for more...

Mainly for writing rather than speaking. I’m trying to learn to speak the language, and then learn to write it once I speak it, after all, a toddler learns to say “mama” or “dada” way before writing it. I did learn a few things but I’m definitely not up to the skill level needed for this app yet. It teaches the writing well though, so I can’t fault the app/creator for my wrong choice. It’s perfect for what it does. :D

Perfect for beginners. The sensei who guides you through the app explains the reasoning behind Japanese characters and grammar in addition to helping you learn the language. It's a comprehensive approach that you won't get from a textbook. It really is... Human. No risk downloading the lite version; I think it's great, so I might just buy the full version.

Great teaching sequence and very user friendly. Would recommend if you’d like to learn the Japanese language and culture. I’m currently just starting, but the integration of practical application/grammar with the teaching of alphabets/symbols paired with culture/history make this such a valuable resource in learning.

Almost perfect. Let me first start off by saying this is a fantastic app. The GUI design is elegant and the instructional design is well thought out. I have forgotten most, if not all, of the Japanese I learned in college. Human Japanese has allowed me to stimulate those forgotten brain cells. However, It's lacking a couple of key tools for practicing content retention. 1) Built-in flash cards selectable by single, multiple, or all chapters. By chapter 10, vocabulary words are shot out at a rate similar to water out of a fire hose. I had a difficult time remembering all the words and going back into the chapters became difficult/tedious. 2) Quick Reference for the letter. I forgot several of the letters as I advanced further into the chapters, but had a hard time remembering which chapter to find the answer. A quick reference to all letter already learned would be extremely helpful Great app overall, Bravo!

Helpful with other apps. The best part for me was being able to hear and see the different combinations of characters and getting to practice that over and over again. For writing the characters I used a different app to prattle stroke order. Also the cultural information was helpful as well.

Sooo goooooood!!!!. This is like talking to a language teacher with years of experience who knows all the right things to say. This is the best Japanese language learning app; it's fun, funny, detailed, user-friendly, has a lot of available practice, and is super easy to follow. I'm buying the intermediate version just because I think whoever made this deserves some of my money. Thx!

Great Japanese language app!. I am new to learning Japanese and so I wasn't sure how an app would approach a language that didn't use the Roman alphabet. So far I've been pleasantly surprised. The writing has been conversational and engaging. It keeps a light tone which keeps the process fun and exciting. Highly recommended!

Update!. After many weeks with this app I have finally updated my review. The learning curve for this app is a little steep but once you get the hang of it everything is smooth. I wish they included a chapter by chapter course instead of freely choosing what ever chapter I want. Also it need some kind of reward, achievements and accolades system to keep you motivated. Over all good app.

Very helpful, it's outstanding!. Before I downloaded this, I thought I would delete it right after like the others apps. I tried it out the first few minutes and then I didn't put it down! It's amazing! It goes over the basics of hiragana, ect. I've learned a lot over a short period of time of using this app! I just can't believe it's free! DOWNLOAD IT🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵. I was looking for an app that worked more like a textbook than just one that quizzes you. I saw the normal version that costs around $10 and didn’t know if it would be worth my money. I then found this version and decided I’d try it out first. After using the app I can say that I 100% think it’s worth the money and will be buying it. The app has a really warm approach to learning Japanese, which can seem scary at first. They break everything down well, teach you everything you’ll need to know about the different topics, and include fun lessons about the culture, geography, and history. Whether you are looking for an app to help you learn Japanese from nothing, or you just want to review what you know, this is the app for you.

An enthusiast to make learners enthusiastic. The best part of this app is probably the educator who writes to the audience. She or he is seemingly so passionate and it incites excitement in me. She talks about Japanese culture, history, geography, and tradition. It's much more than a lesson in language. As for the lesson in language, the app is great. I learn how to write, how to pronounce, how to spell, and how to construct sentences. Great app. Takes the apprehension away.

Amazing ... but iPad users beware. Great start.. But if you go on to get the real version on your iPhone, you have to buy it again on your iPad. Strange, in my opinion, given the price (not cheap). But the app itself is fantastic (and the lite version at least teaches you the alphabet and some interesting things about the country of Japan). It makes a COMPLETELY foreign difficult language make some sense, and the very personable style is fun.

Delightful, engaging app. This app is beautifully designed and makes excellent use of multimedia, including colorful pictures, audio pronunciations, and animated stroke order for kana. It's a pleasure to use. I've only gone through the first few chapters and am looking forward to what comes after the kana (as I already know them - even so, it is an enjoyable review).

Best app for learning a 2nd language. When it comes to learning hiragana and katakana, i used other apps to give me a strong foundation like mnemonics. This app builds on that and more. You literally get an entire crash course on japanese history, language structure, and other lessons. I have learned so much and i am just getting through chapter 6. If this app cost $50 i would buy it! Its that good! But lets hope they don't lol very fun language to learn and excited to keep going! Hope they can get a Thai version soon *wink wink* developers

A great refresher!. I took a semester of Japanese a few years ago and have been trying to get back in to learning the language. So far this app has been an excellent way to brush up on things I he already learned, but it has also taught me a few new things along the way. The cultural "break" chapters are also really interesting!

So great already!!. I JUST got the app and it's already the best one I have encountered! I have at least downloaded 11 apps for learning Japanese and all off em' have in app purchases, so I was scrolling through the App Store trying to find one with no in app purchases, and look what I find!!! The perfect app for learning Japanese!

Amazing App!. This app is absolutely amazing! Unlike many apps I've seen, it starts at the very basics. Instead of teaching random or often used words, it teaches the way to pronounce each sound, as such, reading and making any word. Also, it's feature of reading the written words out loud when you click them is wonderful. I've tried out a few other languages, but never really dove in because it either lost my interest or I had a hard time picking it up. I never imagined the language I've been looking for was Japanese. But as it stands so far, (because of this app) I actually may follow through and do this! I'm very excited to see how this will go. And, back on track, I highly suggest this app to anyone who wants to really learn the language!

Best way to learn!. This app is by far the best program I've used to learn Japanese. This one explains things well and in a simplistic way that doesn't confuse or bore you. It's not overly wordy, yet gives you background/history and explains differences between English and Japanese. It also finally explained how to pronounce the 'r' sound in a way that made sense to me! The drawings and audio files are flawless and easy to follow/understand. I love this app and am making so much progress so fast! I wish I had started using this sooner :)

Truly the best!. I've been studying languages for about 9 years but was honestly intimidated by Japanese because I thought it would be too difficult of an undertaking. At first, I was right. I've downloaded and deleted more apps that tried to introduce me to Japanese but I never followed their rigid structure for more than a week before I realized I wasn't learning anything. Then I downloaded HumanJapanese and I am shocked at how much I learned just within the first 5 chapters! Not only do I feel I am grasping the alphabet and structure of the language but I learn bits about the culture and area to where I feel I have a better understanding through immersion. This is truly the best app I have found for learning Japanese. It is well worth your time to work through the chapters and I think you'll be surprised as well seeing how much you learn!

Just right. I'm enjoying this app to pieces as it's well structured and at a good pace--small bites and quizzes to help it stick. I hope to someday use what I've learned in Japan. I wish I had gotten started sooner while my daughter was in Okinawa, but someday my granddaughter might want to see where she was born and I believe this app will prepare me for taking in so much more around us. I can hardly wait for another Mos Burger and sushi. With this, I'll know how to ask in Japanese and there will be smiles all around.

It's better than you think.. This is my first time I wrote a review and this was so well made done I just have to make a 5-Stars review. What makes this so good is that : -There's optional quizzes and tests meaning you don't have to deal with : *Pass this Quiz to unlock this chapter!* -High quality sounds clips instead of those Text-To-Speech or this jungle of mess here : (/prəˌnənsēˈāSH(ə)n/) -This is fun and interesting since there was a sense of humor scattered around, it also gave you facts about Japan and it's history along the way. -Teaches you with animations of the strokes of the Japanese characters and tells the difference in typing and writing spellings instead of just giving smack right in front of you. -Tells you what to do and not to do just in case you're making mistakes and didn't know.

Extremely thorough. The best app to learn Japanese. Everything is explained, between cultural notes, historical context references, stroke order... If you want to save yourself time, and you're an absolute beginner, just click 'Install'. That's really all there is to it. I wasted a lot of time with other apps, but this one truly is a one-stop shop.

5 stars all the way!!. It's just a preview app but it gives you an amazing example of what it will be doing and how you will be taught! I learned a lot just by this example app and would definitely encourage buying the real thing. Not only does it teach you words but also; Grammar, pronunciation, culture, Japanese characters, and more! It gives you simple quizzes to keep up your memory that you can retake at any time and lays everything out simply for you. I love it!

Amazing app!. I just started using this app this week and I have not put it down much. When you really want to learn a language it's important to start from the basics. This app does just that and it is explained very well so it's easy to understand. I downloaded about three different apps before this one, and after downloading this one I deleted all the others within a couple minutes of starting with this one. It's a lot of reading, but totally worth it if you truly want to understand and learn Japanese. I love this app! Download it now.

Extremely interesting.. I've only been through a few chapters but so far this is really interesting. Even if you don't learn the language, the information about the history, culture, language, and why the language has developed this way, is well worth the time. App is beautiful and seems to work flawlessly. The information couldn't be presented any better.

Great App. I’ve been trying to learn Japanese on my own for 10 years. I’ve tried books and other software programs. I’ve learned more from this free app in one year than I learned from all those other sources combined. I can now recognize all the hiragana and create basic sentences. I’m ready to move on to the full, paid app now.

Thorough and easy to use. I just started on this app (only on chapter 3), but so far it has been very comprehensive and easy to use! It provides much more of a foundation than apps like duolinguo in that you learn the why and how behind words and grammatical structures.

Didn't start getting good until around 7th chapter.. I didn't think much about this app when I first picked it up. I've already got a metric boatload of Japanese study material and a native speaker to my whimsy. The thing about this app is- it's better than all of that. Then delivered in a package that pretty, entertaining and informative. Not to belittle some popular Japanese study book, but the medium of a tablet or phone works better here and this app shows off what a good app can do. Here's a tip from someone who has the phone and the tablet version: the tablet is better. If you have the mini, it's a perfect app. I'm using an 6plus and the screen is still too small. If you don't have a tablet, ask your college professors if they can lease a tablet for you in their name. I didn't think too much about this app until it started to explain sentence structure and then the translations that go with it. Why not sooner? I've already studied, memorized and drill the hiragana and its modifiers into my skull. If you've done this than that's the first 5 chapters. Chapter 6 is greeting. Don't skip over the greetings there's nuggets of information which even I didn't know- cultural differences. It's at chapter 7 that really made the difference. If you've struggled with understanding sentences in Japanese and why things don't make sense but they should this is where the app earned my money. Twice.

Realized later how great it is. I also didn't think much of this app until I was three weeks into living in Japan. Once I dove in, it was invaluable. I needed more context and annunciation and it provided just that. Paired with a Japanese audio book is now my way of learning.

Incredibly made and incredibly effective. I’ve always been interested in learning new languages yet no matter how many classes I’ve taken or apps I’ve used, they never seem to be altogether effective or capture my attention. This app however did all of that and more. Just by using this app I can understand so much of the Japanese Hiragana as well as some additional syllabary. That may be unintelligible to someone new to all of this but I promise you that this app can get you there in no time at all. I felt thoroughly understood and very well supported by the teaching structure of the lessons and I honestly can’t even put down just how much I enjoyed working through this app. I’ve just purchased the full app as well as the intermediate one simply because I know that I will be willing to keep up with this and make it more than worth my money. Do yourself a favor, do everyone else a favor. Download this app and begin the journey.

Very helpful!. The most helpful part of this app is the cultural perspective. In other apps, I see the usage of some phrases that will make you sound moronic and/or impolite if you actually try to use them when you speak to Japanese people. This app gives you the vocabulary and the "human" perspective of a language, instead of just the mechanics of the language. Def recommend this app. 5☆

It really is done well. Today I decided to find an app to refresh my Japanese (1 year of college and 1 year abroad). I went through a few, quickly not liking their presentation or materials but this one has kept my attention. It really is true to the "human" touch in its name and I like the little anecdotes and pieces of background information. I never buy stuff off the app store but if in later chapters I am actually learning and retaining new lessons I will buy the full edition.

Upgraded to full. I am very picky about apps and I don't like to spend money on them but HJ is the best Japanese app if you're actually serious about learning the language. My advice is to get this app for learning the language itself and then the free Memrise app for studying vocab words.

Only One. Like others here, I've tried my fair share of Japanese learning apps. This does have a lot of reading to it but you feel like you're in a lecture for the language. The history of the language as well as the Japanese culture are infused into the app. I deleted my other Japanese apps. This one is magnificent.

Best Japanese App I've Found. A friend and I are learning Japanese together, this app is very clear and easy to follow, has interactive text, and quizzes at the end of each section, not to mention facts about Japan itself. Can not recommend a better app for self learning

Entertaining, edifying, excellent. The other apps I tried left me bored, confused, perplexed, and sometimes all three. I find this app to be incredibly educational about both Japan and the Japanese language. It even helped me confront my fear of hiragana. I use this app with Pimsleur recordings and the combination is about perfect.

Needs a little more work. Using this to relearn what I already know from 3 years of high school Japanese classes. Finding out there’s more than one meaning to multiple words. Would rate 5 stars, but I would add to this some sort of word review or flash cards before reaching the actual review and test. Otherwise, good work!

Seriously in depth. Human Japanese is a very in depth examination of japanese language and culture. The author writes in a manner that is very approachable and friendly, while also not being too informal. The author obviously cares a great deal about the work they do, and it shows

The contents are clear to understand, and the "listen and learn" bit also adds up to this. I love the geographic history behind it while studying, it's just perfect. Makes language learning easy. Learning Japanese in retirement seemed like an interesting way to pass my time so I looked for a comprehensive, intelligent yet accessible program and found it in this app. After completing two chapters, I can honestly say this is one of the best teaching tools I have encountered in any language. The instructions are clear and straightforward, and it appears the developer has forgotten nothing in the design of the app. I look forward to completing this module and moving on to the full version.

Amazing!. I am former Japanese language student who had lost a lot of the language over the few years that I haven't studied. I found that with this app, above all others, I have already regained so much of the language that I had lost using this lite version. I will definitely be purchasing the full app for further study!

High quality, deep learning. I was surprised at the quality and depth of understanding that is presented. The explanations, examples and analogies help an English speaker to delve into Japanese in a way not accessible using phrase and dictionary apps.

Best app out there for learning jap from nothing. I tries this free verion and went straight to buy the full version. After 2 weeks I could read katakana an hiragana! And was well on my way to learning Japanese. I'm only half way through the full version but lovin every second!

Better than ever. I last used this app several years ago before a trip to Japan. It was wonderful then, even better now. Clear, fun and thorough.

Has me looking forward to studying. Let me just start out by saying that prior to posting my two cents about HJ the app presented me with the ever present 'review this app' notification and I declined just as quickly. I'm always trying to find those easy LISTEN REPEAT and MEMORISE apps out there. Since downloading HJ however I've found myself on it at least an hour a day reading through it. In fact I make time for. Yes there's a lot of reading involved, yes there's history involved, yes there's no %100 guarantee you'll be speaking like a native by the end of it etc. etc. But if you want an app that teaches you Japanese. THE RIGHT WAY. then there's no better way. PS. I may or may not have been so eager to write this review after acing that chapter two QUIZ.

Awesome app!. Having wanted to learn a second language for some time now, I came across this app and discovered how refreshing its approach was. Now I hope the makers of this app can bring the same sort of passion for the roots of other languages. I'll be looking forward to, say, "Human French", whenever you decide to make it!

Wow... Just... Wow!!!. This app is the best thing i have eva got off itunes. I have learnt more in 2 days than i have from months of online lessons tutorials etc. It is so brilliant and has an excellent approach to learning a language. I am going to by the full one!!! Xx

Broken and Unuable. I had to hard power cycle my phone just to close the app. Not recommended.

You won't regret downloading this.. I am planning on travelling to Japan in the next few years so I decided to learn the language. Instead of getting a tutor straight away (and spending heaps of money!) I decided to check if the iTunes store "had an app for that". I came across this and downloaded it along with a coulpe others. Human Japanese was the standout by far in terms of a quality app, ease of learning and fun. The creator of this app is a funny guy and I enjoyed learning the language and history of it and picked up alot within the first day. I will most definately be buying the full app. It will be worth it. :)

Finally!. I have tried *so* many English>Japanese learning apps and this is by far the best I've found. Perfect for complete beginners who can't yet read or write any Japanese characters and still perfect for those who are familiar with the characters but aren't familiar with many words or how to structure sentences. This app gives you clear and accurate examples of how to pronounce any and every Japanese word or character that appears. It will give you information about how things came to be, easy ways to remember things, it lets you go at your own pace, it has a quizzing feature at the end of each "chapter" of the session so you can feel confident with your newly learned knowledge. And it's free (so far)! But even if there was a purchase option, I'd purchase immediately. Just absolutely beautiful. A must have for learning Japanese.

Sugoi!!!. This app is fantastic!!! I've been self-teaching myself Japanese, which is not easy, and I have found this app extremely helpful! Before getting this app I only knew half the hiragana characters & I could never remember what sound they turned into after adding ten ten & which characters you could add ten ten to etc but after using this app I'm a whizz at hiragana & I understand the structure of Japanese soooooo much more now! I'm definitely buying the full version, it's worth every cent!

Un... Believable.. I love it. LOVE it. This program is funny, cute, helpful and fun. Above all it doesn't condescend or belittle the student, it makes this very rich language make dynamic sense, and gives the student the undeniable feeling that learning Japanese is not only enjoyable but well within reach.

Almost perfect. I’ve just started using this app and I must say, having an understanding of the language, rather than just learning words, has suited my learning style perfectly. My only issue is not being able to pick up on my iPhone where I left off on my iPad.

Simply the best. Hands down the finest language learning aid I have ever seen. The explanations are grounded in a deep understanding of what the learner needs, so they are crystal clear without talking down. Uses the technology beautifully - every feature is there to move your learning forward, and works right first time and every time. And the text glows with an infectious enthusiasm for the Japanese language.

Reccomended. I find this application to be rather informative, and it deals with the teaching of Japanese very well. It's also good that as well as attempting to teach the language, the creators have thrown in cultural lessons too. As helpful as this app is, I have found mistakes. For example, where it is trying to explain the verb tenses and whether the said subject exists or not, they make a crucial error with the use of the verb 'arimasu/arimasen'. You see, you only use 'arimasu/arimasen' for INANIMATE objects. If you are trying to refer to a LIVING/ANIMATE thing, you would use the verb 'imasu/imasen'. It is vital to know that, and I find it quite a let down for an otherwise excellent application to miss that important grammar point.

Siiiiick. I began learning Japanese through Duolingo and I wasn’t diligent because it got boring. This app is sooo much different and much better. Best app by far. This is by far the best app to learn Japanese if you’re a native English speaker. It reads like a textbook, but you can also do (or redo) tests and vocabulary quizzes. Also whoever wrote the text is adorable, and clearly passionate about 日本語！ I can’t recommend this app highly enough, if I had stuck with other apps I would be completely lost because they don’t properly explain grammar or sentence structure.

Like a tutor!. This is the best app for leaning Japanese I've come across so far! Fun, easy to use with a lot of awesome features. You get to practice your newly acquired knowledge by taking quizzes and playing matching games. The audio feature is also fantastic, as it greatly helps with pronunciation. This app also answers a lot of questions you might be pondering as you study Japanese. It's honestly like having your own personal tutor!! Highly recommend!

This app is awesome!. And I'm not saying that very lightly. I'm the type who doesn't really leave reviews/ratings because I just can't be bothered. With this one though, I had to. I've always wanted to learn Japanese but never really got around to it. This app helped a great deal and I was able to read and write Hiragana in just a day. It's as if you have a private teacher who speaks to you at a personal level. The name is VERY fitting - Human Japanese. Love it! Definitely recommend this.

Outstanding, obviously created by someone who loves to help you learn. I downloaded Human Japanese after I realized my progress with learning Japanese had stalled about 45 days into Duolingo. Human Japanese turned out to be a delight. Everything is explained, from why the letters look the way they do to how words are pronounced, long with some history, culture and photos. My progress is rapid because I really understand now. Human Japanese is fun and I value being able to click on words and letters to hear them pronounced. The chapter quizzes are fun, too, as every time I answer correctly there is an exclamation of delight. I will use Human Japanese and Duolingo together as I want to learn some useful Japanese before meeting my Japanese daughter-in-law’s family in a few months, but If I could go back in time, I would choose to start with Human Japanese and then later add Duolingo for practice. The creator of Human Japanese has considered every word and page clearly, and this is obviously a passion project aimed to help people learn. I am using HJ lite and it is free

Wonderful. With a wonderful design and a very nice way of teaching you without assuming that you know anything, it's a great app. The games to practice are a pretty good basis and helps targeting your weaknesses, but for the writing you'll still obviously need to practice on paper (don't worry though, they give very good advice about how to write those characters) and some other app can be a nice help to learn some vocab some other way, but I want to precise that the vocabulary mentioned in the app is very well organized and spaced with awesome cultural info which makes learning all the more interesting! I can't wait to get the full version.

Easy to understand. I'm half Japanese and have always wanted to learn the language but I have never gotten the chance to because there are no places to learn it around my town. I have learned so many new things compared to my other apps and I plan on buying this soon.

Great start. Teacher takes mystery and OMG out of learning. Makes very relevant comparisons how English and Japanese are similar. Ex. One stroke in Japanese can alter a word. But same is true in English: interior-inferior. I am excited to study and am very pleased I got this course.

Best for 1st approach. If you really want to start learning Japanese, look no further. This is the simplest method I've found that will simply explain to you that characters are not that scary and DO have a logical order. If you do 10 minutes a day for each 5 vowel/consonant-vowel sounds. You will learn to write Japanese in a few weeks. Most books beat around the bush and do not explain things as clearly as this little app that could!! A definite must!!!

Very engaging. The writer gives good advice on learning the japanese alphabet but what i like most is the detailed description on the proper way to write the strokes and nuances. The tone is also casual and supportive, and not monotonous, making learning the material easier.

Holy smokes!. This app lays out Japanese in the best way I've seen. He gets to the guts of the language so you can understand it and not just parrot some useful phrases. It's exactly what I've been looking for.

Amazing. I honestly have never written a review before for an app. However, this app truly made me understand Japanese a lot better. Before this app, I tried duolingo, which was good at making me memorize words, but I didn't understand why certain aspects of the words were changing (I had to figure it out on my own). This app, though not prefect has been much better in making the language as a whole much easier to understand.

Excellent.. This, along with anki (wish it or some delayed flashcard system was part of the app) is amazingly fast for very basic Japanese. There could be more examples, but otherwise Human Japanese is super good.
