Great app. Love the word a day feature to help build my vocabulary

Usefull provider of handy words. Although you can't learn a language with this app, it's usefull for giving you those random, handy words you can use to impress your girlfriend and whatnot.

I ❤️ Egypt. This is the perfect App for learning Arabic on the go. Thanks for All U do to Make It Better 😘. Eygyptian Arabic is all I've ever wanted to learn. Not German, not French, although my heart belongs to these countries. Arabic is All I Want to learn.

Alright. It's alright. Some of the words are pretty lame. But some are alright.

Great way to learn. I love this app. It has helped me to gain a better understanding of Arabic and I am learning how to say the words.

Teacher. Words should be in purposeful sets to facilitate learning but this word a day format is interesting.

v1.5 update erases your wordbank! :-(. Although the v1.5 update gives you the ability to add more than one word a day, it also erases the wordbank that you might've built up over months by launching the app every day! This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional on the part of the developers, showing such disregard for their users' time & effort. Skip this update & wait for the next one that does NOT trash your hard-earned wordbank!! I'll change my rating from one star after they fix this.

Not fully Egyptian. Northern Egyptians pronounce ج as /g/ and not /j/. I have not once heard /g/. Also at times some words are not common in Egypt and are more Shamy or other dialects on the Arabian peninsula. At times the word pronounced is not the word written.

Favorite app. I have 2 word light! Arabic and Hebrew I awaken to find 2 new words to practice. It is a great opportunity to hear and say each great new word. Thank you very much.

Which Dialect?. I have been teaching myself Egyptian Arabic for the last few years using audio CDs. This product has been a nice complement to those other resources in terms of vocabulary and Arabic script. However, the vocabulary and pronunciation of the dialect in these lessons seems quite different from Cairene Egyptian Arabic as spoken on my CDs. There are many dialects of Arabic, and it isn't clear which one this is.

You Should Read Before You Comment. Not all Arabic letters are connected. Some are, some are not--it depends upon the location of the letter within the word and what comes before or after it. This is not designed as a program to teach you how to write in Arabic, but to understand simple words. For what the program is intended for, it is quite good.

great start. This is a great start, especially at the .99 price, and I might even be willing to buy the full version if I could get a better feel for the additional features. I'm writing this within the first 24 hours of downloading it, so I only have one entry to go by, but it's missing the phonetic spelling (as seen in the screenshot - important), and the recorded audio produces crackling/static. I'm using brand new $90 headphones from the Apple store [there should also be a note in the writeup for any program that involves recording that the *iPod Touch 2G will NOT record unless you buy special headphones with a mic*], and other voice recording software produces good sound, so... I'd like to have the option of starting out with the alphabet, since I'm just starting to learn and the squiggles don't mean much to me yet :). $10 is pricey for an app, so the lite version needs to give a better taste of what people will be paying for if you want them to buy it.

Ok but the bolded Arabic isn’t correct. I really want to like this app, however the bolded Arabic at the top isn't correct. If you compare it to the smaller underneath the transliteration, it’s missing all of the vowel markings, and there’s no way to zoom in on the smaller version to see the word better.

Great Arabic Vocabulary App!. There are several mistakes in this app, but not enough to deserve a bad review. This is the only of its kind app for learning Arabic vocabulary, and I have found it extremely helpful for learning and understanding Arabic. I would recommend this app to anyone learning Arabic!

poor execution. One: factually incorrect. Today's word was "yatamasha" which it translated as "to go to work" -- there is no such form in arabic. The convention when teaching arabic is to use the third person past tense because the other forms are transformations from it. "yatamasha" is not third person past tense Two: it does *not* present the words in arabic. Throwing out arabic letters in independent form is *not* spelling the word. The transliteration uses an s caron fro the "sheen", not a character most Americans will be familiar with. It also put in two s carons, presumably because the "sheen" in "yatamasha" has a "shadda" over it (is doubled) -- but no shadda is presented in the arabic script. I can understand a lack of voweling, but noting shadda and nunation are important. That said the pronunciation of the word itself was clear, the ability to record and playback is useful. Instead of recording some arabic words and slapping a "whatever works" presentation on it this needed to actually take the time to deal properly with arabic.

not a good program. The letters aren't connected, and you can only get one word a day (which they do advertise, so that's not a problem with expectations, just with the program itself). Not worth buying or downloading.

Product Review. I am a first time Arabic language learner. This product has complimented my learning in so many ways I had not expected. I get to know new Arabic words almost everyday. It's a great all round product starting with the pronunciation, writing words both in Arabic and in English. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who has a desire to learn Arabic. Kassim Kano USA

Not Egyptian Arabic. This was advertised as a way to learn Egyptian Arabic, which I need. But it's classical Arabic instead. Love the set-up and ease of use. Unfortunately the actual vocabulary is of no use to me.

Not accessible!!. Does not work with Voice Over glad it was free so I didn't waste my money on it!

Really?. I've had this app for a while and have gone through all the troubles they've caused with their updates and I'm really angry now. Just did their latest update and now none of the flashcards play sound because it is disabled now, I'm just waiting for a new update soon hopefully, take it from me... if it's working fine DON'T update it.

Random. Words are random. I would have preferred a more useful word set. I did not try the Voiceoover part.

Lot’s of fun. I studied Arabic years ago, and it offers a chance to review vocabulary and alphabet at my own pace

Decent Language App. Decent vocabulary...appearance and interface could be cleaned up a bit...good tool for reviewing and refreshing languages skills

Very random. I'm actually learning how to pronounce a lot but the words and phrases are so random that it will be months before i can hold a short useful conversation!

Quick study. Just pick up your pad, and do a lesson anytime. Work on it a while or a short time.

Dig this app. I get a word everyday. Love to look through and practice. Wish I did more often.

Power words. Love it so far been very helpful & would recommend it to any of my brothers & sisters enjoying it for now mashallah

Oh Well. Not at all what I expected. Plus, before I even got started if was trying to get me to upgrade. Very bad marketing ploy. I know it is free, but I feel tricked, and I would buy from someone who tried to trick me into a sale.

No sound. There are no phrases and no sound. iPad 2 latest version available plz fix soon شكراً

Not bad. The app helps me with the pronunciation and English translation of words, but doesn't actually help in the long run. To be more effective, it would need to provide day-to-day lessons in their entirety, rather than words. Learning an irrelevant word everyday won't help to learn the language as a whole overall.

The letters MUST connect to be useful. I would buy the paid app IF it had connected letters, and I only downloaded this one so I could say that. What is the point of a fantasy app that displays words in a way they would NEVER appear in life? I would be soo hapy and even pay if you came up with an app that represented actual words as they are written. Please do!

Decent start. Many audio playbacks are bout correct with the selected vocab word. There is only so many words you can look at on the free version.

not even worth the free download. A lot of the pronuciations are incorrect and instead of giving you the real word they give you only the english word in arabic writing.

Free app. Are you complaining about a free app? I learned 100 words at no cost. Good enough for me

App doesn't work. It doesn't work. There is no sound and the word bank is empty. Would be nice to have instructions as well. Didn't get the point of the app. Very poor.

Wonderful App!. Listen record review great way to learn fast. Thanks!

Good App!. Word Power-Arabic is providing me with solid vocabulary building words and phrases. Definitely a good app to have for those interested in learning basic words in a foreign language.

What a piece air Arabic crap. I downloaded this twice just to get to work. The app does practically nothing. Maybe I am too stupid to figure it out. The next and previous buttons do nothing. There is no info on what you are even supposed to do with the app. It's free but don't waste your time or hard drive space. Total Arabic crap.

Useless. I thought Arabic letters were connected like cursive... And the first word it gave me was "record player." How about some useful words first??

Great presentation &idea! Useful &effective!!. Very very good tool for learning! Really encourages you to check daily cause if you don't, you don't get to keep that days new word in you flashcard stack. Good push to check and keep learning. Also excellent pronunciation+ phonetic English spelling, and translation. Have Farsi and Arabic wordoftheday as well, and though all are GREAT to have (better than nothing FOR SURE), Spanish choice of words has been best so far. I just hate the ads in all :P wish they'd be less intrusive.

A great and useful apps. I enjoy it everyday !

Almost a great application. The benefits aren't all too great for those who decide not to pay. The app has some issues displaying text; it's not uncommon to see words written over each other. Terms given are sometimes not the words pronounced or written. Over all the app isn't bad for a basic arabic student to pick up some new vocab

Love it. But I wish the word bank had more storage capacity!

This app is great. Sometimes it gives you the randomest words. But it gives you access to lots of words. It gives you the pronunciation and you can save it to practice later. Awesome.

Good in the long haul. Good to accumulate vocabulary over time, not to quickly learn the language

Flashcards. Got new words to learn everyday. Great useful words.

Great. I like the way one can replay the word, hearing it pronounced is very helpful, along with recording yourself as well. Being able to go back n forth one can hear their own mistakes... Awesomw!!! I would suggest that we be able to collect the daily words without actually having to open the app daily.

Easiest way to learn in a couple minutes a day. I have used this program to gain background in a number of languages. It gives you a good introductory vocabulary and a couple example sentences for each word. In addition, it has both Romanized and authentic writing for languages with other writing systems. For example, for Chinese it has the English transcription for pronunciation, along with the simplified and more complex characters. This is a fantastic program, and I recommend it to anyone trying to learn the basics in a new language.

Amazed it's free.. I've built a pretty impressive collection of words and phrases. Nothing huge I can't speak the language but I can ask for the manager.

Slight difference between the pronunciation and the Arabic script. It can become confusing at times as the student tries to learn vocabulary. I believe the target Arabic dialect is Masri (Egyptian) which is not too different from Modern Standard Arabic. Otherwise the pictures, sound, and script are consistent. The category groupings offer just enough learning content without being too clustered.

Arabic word power. Easy to use, like the word of the day.

Not Egyptian. Good program if your trying to learn Arabic but it's not Egyptian arabic. All the words are a more tradition/Jordanian dialect

Great language app. Easy to use, great features like record/listen/compare for pronunciation, clearly structured.

Mr Nan. Very useful

Educational. Keeps up to date and very easy to use. Easy to learn more or less and integrate at your own pace.

Downgrade. Was happy with the previous version but new interface isn't great and notifications can't be disabled - via the app or via the phone controls

Only has one word in free version. The free version only has one word to study. It also does not automatically show the pictures relating words, you have to select to view them. Other free apps have clusters of words to learn such as numbers, colours, clothing and so on but on this I can't see if the full version would have this functionality and it is definitely not included on the free version.

Handy but.... There are a few mistakes and sometimes what is said doesn't match what is written. With the Russian version I have had a native speaker tell me some words are not used or are just plain wrong. Audio quality on some Arabic recordings are of lower quality. Need more words and complete number lists not just random numbers. Also alphabet pronunciation for all the languages would be ideal. Proof reading with a native English speaker would also correct the A / O mix ups with what is written and what it actually sounds like... Should be phonetic.

Good!. Nice app! I just wish there was sentence structure.

Helps. Good

Useful. The program is useful, inoffensive, and easy to use

Fun to learn and use :). Easy to use and to learn

Just ok. Fun at first but gets boring after a while

Arabic. I am enjoying learning more Arabic words & it helps me understand a few more words when I listen to Arabic music.

It's ok. It is pretty good. I will probably buy the full version. The interface is confusing though. I like the word of the day.
