Map My Ride With GPS Tracker Comments & Reviews 2026
Long time user first time rater. I like the app and use it frequently for tracking bike rides. I have used it for years starting when it was just Map My Ride. The breakdowns / stats are cool and I almost always add a photo or two so it makes a workout diary. I totally recommend this app. Really like the auto stop / start feature A weird thing happened in the last year: there is clearly a major difference in the map function which smooths out the route as you ride. It is really noticeable as the same trails I have ridden in the past now show fewer twists and turns on the map view to the extent that they are now recorded substantially shorter than they were previously. I doubt this would affect and is probably a good thing for riding on a road. All the best UnderArmour. Thanks for a great app!
Going Backwards. I have been using this App for about 3 years. Since they started making some major changes earlier this year, such as taking away the wheel size the App no longer recorded accurate mileage. Same routes I always take recoded a different distance every ride. Off anywhere from 1 tenth a mile to up to one mile. Also segments measuring speed is all over the place even though doing same speeds. Still use the App, but go by my Bell Speedometer for mileage and average speed. App is usually off at least under 15% on most rides. So disappointed that they have destroyed this awesome app with upgrades depending on satellites. 😞
Minor tweaks would go a long way!. I’ve been using this app for years and I love it but it needs a few minor tweaks that drive me mental. Once your ride is finished you can read the data, such as calories burned, elevation gain and top speed, yet these vital stats cannot be included in the voice feedback. I live in the Idaho Rockies and elevation gain is really important to us. We’d love to know it as we are riding, not just at the end. Same for calorie count and high speed (to better our times on the downhill segments). I’ve been requesting these for years but the developers seem hell bent on other features that no one in my circle would ever use. Also please have the time read out correctly! 2:01 is read as 201, not 2, 1. Whoever coded this in the first place needs to go back to school. It’s an embarrassing feature. Apart from these things the app works great! And I really do love it!
Apple Watch Series 3 connectivity is lackluster. Having so much trouble mirroring workout data with my Apple Watch and my phone through this app even using UA’s troubleshooting guide. It’s the second time I deleted the app, as per UA’s troubleshooting guidelines, and reinstalled it from both devices just to make these two things work together during workouts. First-world problems. Lost a lot of critical HR data during long rides and some didn’t even collect GPS distances. I may be working with “older tech” but I’m not buying the latest iPhone and Apple Watch just to get mediocre workout tracking service from one of the top leading health tracking app (only second next to STRAVA, that is too Radically Left for my taste buds so I dropped them off the face of this earth.) Also, let’s make buddy following and safety contact GPS (when it’s working) following for relatives a little easier to accomplish with just a simple link send via SMS instead of having to create a member account that they will never use for its intended purposes. Get with the 21st century UA.
Not sure if I’ll keep using this one. I don’t really write review but I’m not as thrilled with this as I was in the start. The map building was super easy and sold me on trying it. It seemed to work well but has failed to log my last three work outs. I go to stop it and it logs a few steps that I’ve just taken. Total workout run: .01miles. The first time I thought it was me so before my next ride, I doubled checked quickly. When I finished nothing. The third time, I thought I wasn’t careful enough so I double checked and went for my run. When I stopped it, the same. I don’t know if I’m hitting something, but I can’t keep checking this thing to make sure everything is going. It’s bad enough trying to carry my iPhone 8 Plus around let alone it not really doing anything. Someone mentioned if was unreliable, that if you hit a wrong button it aborts your work out. Big problem is you start it and try to put it away and might hit something, especially on a big smart phone. If the could fix that it would be a great app. I’m not sure if I’ll switch back to the other apps, but it worked fine for a few workouts not require too much maintenance for me to keep using it. Also, the menu layout is a bit confusing. I have a hard time trying to navigate to pages in the app I’m trying to get to. I’d get used to it but I wish it were more intuitive.
No cellular or wifi u screwed. The app can only record your workout id you have internet access at the time when you want to save your workout. IMHO this is kind of lame because what if you go mountain bike riding and as you know, many mountain terrains have spotty cellular connectivity. Also, what if you want to record a long 5 day backpacking trip? Forget it. Those workouts are bot recorded and when u try saving the app just spins. In fact, even when you finally drive somewhere with internet, it is still spinning so your only choice is to shutdown and restart the app. By then, your workout is gone. This app works for all urban workouts but fails pretty miserably at anything outside of civilization.
Long sync times for watch to phone app.. Primarily track with the Apple Watch. 2 out of the past 2 times I’ve logged a workout with the watch it takes more than a day to “sync while it’s connected to the Internet” which it is. But now as I’ve written this, it is still trying to sync my ride from yesterday (17 hours later). Yes I have also tried the troubleshooting “tips” to make it sync but the watch and phone app just won’t sync. However, for some reason it has no issue syncing the data to the Apple health app just fine..and yes they are up to date. Just did a dummy test and that synced to the app 10 minutes later. Otherwise the app is nice, full of information even with the free version.
Love this app. I’ve used this for 6 years and love it. I use the auto pause option so when I stop for a break, the time stops running, and starts again when I do. I have it announce my distance and average speed every 5 miles. I’ve found the distances to be very accurate when compared to trail mile markers. The main display and announcements are customizable. I like that I can save all trips and share them on social media if I want to. Only once has the app frozen and failed to save the trip, but I’ve never had any other issues. No need for a dedicated bike computer anymore.
Good All-Purpose App. I use MapMyRide (MMR) on every outdoor cycling and Chi Walking effort for it’s adjustable intervals and it’s audio updates on both average pace/speed, segment pace/speed, and progress towards goal in 1/4 segments (25%, 50%,75%, 100%). I suspect the distances rely on cell tower rather than Garmin’s sophisticated Satellite tracking, but do not know that as fact. I rely on my Garmin Edge device (Edge 1000) to record a host of performance data and am confident that the Edge devices are the most accurate. MMR seems to declare a 30 mile ride complete about 0.4 miles sooner than my Garmin Edge does. In actuality, that’s only about 1.3% off, but I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 for that reason. To avoid duplication, I delete the MapMyRide data after stopping it after each ride, but MapMyRide accepts the Garmin Edge data, too and I like their analysis of the data it uses from my Garmin Connect App. All and all I really like this App. I use an ear bud connected to my phone with Bluetooth to get clear updates during my rides or speed walks.
Fix your account management process. This app is ok, not great, but serviceable. What is really lacking is the account management experience. I’ve had the app for a few years now. Haven’t been riding during the winter but got out today and needed the app. It took me 20 minutes reloading and logging back in because UA lost my account info. Tried to login with FB which failed. Then tried logging in with email and password..fail. Requested a reset, which never came..fail. Finally created a whole new account via FB and was able to use the stupid app and start my ride. I was literally 10 seconds from deleting it. So, poor account management ruins an app experience.
What if.... Update after some recent update (Summer 2020?) A recent update added a character limit when entering the title of a workout (I only use road biking, but I presume this problem extends to all types). Previously, there was no limit, or if there was, it was long enough that I never reached it. Now, you can be typing away, and then notice that the app has stopped accepting new characters. This is after some embarrassingly small number, about 30. However, when editing a workout, there is no (practical) limit. Thus, I always edit. In addition, there are occasional times (maybe 1 in 20) when I get the worrying message, "This content is no longer available." This might happen while I am editing the content, in which case the changes are lost. Happily, the content is not actually lost. It is on the list of workouts. So I have reduced my rating from 5 to 3 stars. -------------------- Original review I understood and used all of the functions the free version of this app already offers? Then I might be able to offer a useful suggestion. As it is, I'm extremely happy with the ease and power of the Map My Ride app and website, and cannot think of any way they need improvement. I've been using it for years, and don't even consider looking for an alternative. --------------------
App is unstable with bugs. Unfortunately had to downgrade the rating from 5 stars to 1. After reaching support te issues are not being resolved and Support doesn’t follow up on my emails. Here are the issues after some of the recent updates: 1: red trail sometimes disappears mid-workout and doesn’t show your route during the workout. The workout still gets stored. 2. Sometimes, when you load a pre-existing route, the summary of the Workout and the workout summary shared on Facebook shows the route of the previous workout even though when you view the details of the route it correctly showed the right route map. 2a. When this happens, the route does not get recorded on My Routes list. 3. The new companion Apple Watch app sometimes does not show the current workout in progress and instead shows the start button to start new workouts but it doesn’t sync up to the current workout. Usually it happens while the current workout auto-pauses. 4. New companion Apple Watch app sometimes doesn’t track heart rate. As a result the calories tracked are all estimated and quite different than those tracked by Apple Cycling workout app. When it happens, I checked and the Heart Rate tracks Fine in Apple apps. When Under Armour fixes these issues I’ll change the rating. I’ve been a loyal Map My Ride customer for many years and are an MVP member. However lack of resolution to these issues will force me to re-think my relationship with this vendor.
Map My Ride Unreliable. I’ve used the free version of this app well over a year now. If you are going to use for shorter rides where there is good coverage, it’s fine. But hit the wrong button by accident and it aborts the whole exercise segment. It’s recent upgrade adding new buttons hasn’t helped but added confusion. I lost both of my last 23 mile rides, because the first time I didn’t like the picture it took and the language deleting didn’t say it would delete the ride. Today I had the app closed but operating and when I hit a button to continue, or so I thought, it started a whole new route without asking if I wanted to save the old one. I ride on rail-to-trails and have also had occasional times the app would not sync. I am glad of the manual option, speed function, and gps catch-up that figures out if you rode a bit but forgot to unpause and figures in the mileage in when you do. But I think also more than one pic should be allowed and the major flaw is no BACK UPS!!!!! If you don’t make it to the end and sync, your ride is lost-you can add a ride manually but without the cool maps. Remember GPS also uses lots of phone battery power.
Love it. Few features needed. Love the app. It is part of Under Armour‘s app ecosystem - which means same profile works with MyFitnessPal for example. Love the convenience. Moreover, it tracks any activity you can think of. Running, kayaking, walking... Etc However there are a couple of things that are needed so I don't have to use another app for those specific activities. (1) swimming: either it needs to integrate well apple watch to automatically recognize laps. Currently I have to keep count and input it. (2) or have a way to import workouts from apple watch/workouts app. (3) integration with music
Everything I need, so far. I returned to biking recently and this app is exactly what I need to track my progress, set goals, challenge my riding friends and such. Honestly, it's everything I need at this point in the game. 2017 update: I still love this app. I don't get the same functionality on my phone as I get on my laptop but it's still a terrific mileage tracker for me! 2020 update: still enjoying the app. Occasional glitches but never enough of a problem to warrant finding a different app. This app does everything I need it to do.
loved this app for the last 6 years until I got the Apple Watch. I’ve used this app heavily for the last six years. I had a Tomtom cardio spark plus music watch for the last 2 1/2 years and everything synced to the app just fine with no problem. I would have gotten another but they are now discontinued. Now I have an Apple Watch and I thought things would be even smoother and better since it had an actual Map My Ride app but I am disappointed with the limited metrics that are shown on the watch as well as the syncing abilities. Sometimes my workouts don’t show up on the app on my phone until the day after they are completed. On my tomtom watch, workouts used to sync within seconds of completing a workout. I used to be able to change what metrics I could see and take off ones I didn’t care about and toggle to whatever ones I didn’t have set to my main screen in the middle of the workout. I really miss that! Now I can’t see a lot of mymetrics until they finally sync which takes F.O.R.E.V.E.R!
How the Map My Ride App. Changed My Life. Today I rode my bike 10.4 mile. So far in this month of February, I’ve ridden just over 55 miles. I enjoy the Map My Ride app tremendously. Last summer I rode over eleven hundred miles and burned over 61,000 calories. As a result I lost 53 pounds, lowered my blood pressure and reduced my glucose number from over 7 to 5.5. The app is a great motivator. Each time I ride I log my statistics, the animals I see, the weather conditions, and my mental state of being. I started riding just five miles a day and now I routinely ride 15 miles easily in just over an hour and a half and as many as thirty miles. Not bad for a 72 year old. With biking I don’t feel 72 at all my doctors are all amazed. I think it was the Map My Ride app that made the difference. By cataloging my efforts, I am more motivated. I frequently ride the Atlantic County Bikeway which begins in Mays Landing, NJ and ends in Cardiff, NJ. It 7 1/2 miles one way. The round trip is 15 miles. That 15 miles has become my routine. I have a hybrid Trex bike. I get a kick out of seeing much younger bikers struggling as I pass them. I greatly impressed with this app. I know that I would not have achieved what I have without it Question: Is there a way that I can use the app when I’m on my stationary bike? New Jersey has some tough weather at times and I can’t ride outdoors. Respectfully submitted, K. S. Nelson
Inconsistent mileage and pricey. Generally good app, but the mileage is inconsistent. For several months my ride to work was measuring approximately 11.5 miles - sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less - but it was fairly consistent. We’re talking a couple hundredths of a mile (i.e .03 miles difference). Then - about the same time the app modified its algorithm for calories expended - the distance changed. My route started measuring 11.0 miles. Again sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less, but generally 11.0 miles. So I assume that was the reason. That lasted for several weeks. Then it shifted back to 11.5. This is the EXACT SAME ROUTE. Not a meter more or less. No explanation. Just wonky. But again, overall a good app. Not sure it’s worth paying for except to get rid of the advertisements - $30 is rather pricey.
224 workouts 2,970 total miles!. I can't tell you about other apps, but I can tell you, I use this app almost every day. It works. It would has glitched but I think it was a server issue. The key is if you're riding, ride consistently and use the app. Explore it's options to see if they serve you. I don’t use all of them. I use to weigh 330, I'm at 250 now. My goal is 200. I use this app with Fitbit and UA's MyFitnessPal. I’d like to add this is part of my life, I try to get the most of it I can and this app and sore muscles let me know I’m heading somewhere. Don’t know where that will be or when this ride called life will end but I’m enjoying it as much as I can. Get out there, ride!
Useless Customer Support for Free User. I’ve used this app for years & had no problems, in fact I enjoyed using it until May 8,2023. Since then it’s become a useless app soon to be deleted. The reason behind this change of heart….11 days into a support ticket & no help at all. Initially, I received a response that was basically cut & paste from any number of sources. I responded with more information(9 days ago & more 4 days ago)and screenshots as the cut & paste response didn’t fit my problem at all. Now 11 days later I still have an app with no solution, shame because the next app doesn’t have some of the features as this one in their free model, maybe that’s why the lack of response. Customer service is customer service, I don’t pay for the premium subscription now the possibility of futures subscription members from my recommendation of the app are gone. The only reason you have 2 stars from me is the years that I didn’t need support.
Cust SVC. Needs improvement !!!. I’ve been an MVP user since inception of my account years and years ago. + I have it on auto pay and all of a sudden everything started going wonky with Ads and Nicole asked me to use new app to fix it in February. I told them at that time that my MVP still wasn’t working so they said they would fix that aspect of it and obviously didn’t. It’s April now & it’s not working again and Cust SVC keeps missing the point as if they cannot be bothered to research my longstanding account history. I’m asking repeatedly if they’ve read anything and looked back on my account since inception. They do not understand that I’ve been an MVP member on auto pay been using all those features for years so it’s not their place to tell me otherwise AND it REALLY is their problem to fix. Just like I have to worry about the related My Fitness Pal Data Hack. Sheesh
No longer reliable, no customer support. I used this app for about three years, however, have now deleted it. With each update, it became less and less reliable, and the ‘support’ for the app is non-existent. I had the same route show over a 3 mile difference in tracking (the route itself is under 1.5 miles) however often records as over 4.5. Recent updates to the watch app made it possible to track workouts without taking a phone, but this app is less reliable than the app phone. It auto-pauses while I’m biking at 15+mph, leading to miles. It tracked. The last workout I tracked showed 2.30 miles on the phone but only 1.4 on the watch. These were stated at the same time as starting it on the phone pulls up the watch app to allow you to quickly view your stats (even though they’re totally different than on the phone) but the accuracy is not there, I assume because of the auto-pause issues on the watch.
Very useful. Studies have shown that the best way to maintain weight loss is to write in a journal your consumption of calories as well as your exercise. For biking I just need to click "start your workout" and my bike ride is recorded; the map with the route I chose, my different rates of speed, the incline of the hills I take, and the calories expended, according to my weight (higher weights consume more calories). This app works in conjunction with the app My Fitness Pal, giving me a total picture of the exercise I'm getting and the food I am consuming. The two work very well together.
Don’t buy MVP through the App Store!. Beyond pitiful customer service. I purchased MVP through the App Store the first year. The second year it auto-renewed the MVP…but the app kept saying I need to upgrade to MVP to see all stats. After a back and forth with Under Armour support, I was told I should not have purchased through the App Store. I asked for a refund and had to send proof where I purchased it. Which I did. It has now been weeks since I’ve heard back from support, even after numerous requests for an update. Needless-to-say, but I will no longer be using this app to track my fitness. I understand Strava app does a much better job and they have good customer service.
Unexpected results when starting from Apple Watch. I have been a long time user of Map My Ride and have used it to log my road bike rides. However, a recent update urges me to start a ride from my watch, rather than my phone, but when I do, it dramatically reduces the estimated calories burned for a ride. The same ride that it used to calculate used more than 1000 calories, it now calculates at less than 500. I will continue to use the app, but no longer trust the caloric estimates. I do like the idea of being able to start a ride from my watch as well as my phone, but would be happier if they produced the same results. I notice there is a new update. Perhaps that will fix my problem.
Good Endomondo replacement. This is by the same company that used to run Endomondo. I have used Endo for over 6 years and it was great. MapMyRide is a good alternative now that UnderArmour is no longer supporting Endo. MapMyRide has all the features one needs for a variety of activities, from biking, running, to various other body and cardio workouts. The only bug/flaw I have been reporting to MapMyRide support is that once you enter a “note” you can’t go back and edit it. This is a feature that worked in Endomondo and should work with this app. It’s not difficult to make it so a user can edit their exercise notes. This is an important feature to keep track of user input information regarding content that a user may use to track variables in their workout routine that is not a default choice in the MapMyRide options.
Best for bikes by far. I’ve tried various for my road biking and this is easily the best FREE app. When I say free I mean you might be able to get some other cool features by paying a fee but I get all I need without paying a cent. Compared to the app I used to use (Biketastic), Map My Ride uses perhaps an eighth of the battery on my phone. With Biketastic, I was usually at 60ish percent battery after a 12 mile ride. MMR only drops to 90 or at worst 87 percent battery. I also find MMR to be more accurate to distance when comparing to my Garmin vivoactive HR tracking. One suggestion only: when announcing time/distance, pause the music so riders don’t miss anything. Works great with my Panobike cadence counter too! Overall awesome app!!
Needs “Drive-off Detection”; better Watch functionality. Overall, a pretty good app. Needs to detect when you get in your car and drive off, because forgetting to stop exercise apps seems to be a fairly coming thing for many people. Or at least alert you that you’re near your starting point. I have missed a TON of walks from getting in my car and driving off only to hear the mile-marker ding down the road, screwing up all stats and basically requiring that workout to be deleted. Also, it could do better with Apple Watch functionality…constantly defaults the type of walk I’m doing to “Road Cycling”, which I have never and will never do. I do all Dog Walks…please make it default to the type of “Workout” most used.
Solid app, but could use some improvements. The functionality of this app is good overall, but there are a few things that could certainly be improved. #1: When I initially end and save my rides, it displays my average pace over the course of the ride. For some reason, I cannot find that data anywhere after the ride is saved. #2: While displaying the “full analysis” of each workout, the data is cropped in a strange manner, which cuts off some information in the bottom of the display. #3: The overall user interface looks a little outdated and could certainly use a refresh. The user interface of Strava and Apple’s fitness application are much more visually appealing, and more user friendly in some aspects. I’m kind of torn about switching to the Apple fitness application for the superior user interface, but I’ve been using MapMyRide for years and enjoy having all of my data in one place. With some subtle updates it could certainly be a 5 star app.
Best free app I've tried. Of the apps I've tried, this one works the best for me. I don't have any fancy sensors or anything, all I do is ride and listen to Apple podcasts. 7 or 8 years ago I think that, there was a problem where this app wouldn't pause the podcast when it was giving me my mileage updates and I wrote a review about it then I think they fixed it in less than a year and now it works great. It even rewinds back about five seconds or so, just the right amount. Works pretty smoothly now, although I might tweak the way the app pauses when I stop at a light a little, but I might not actually... really, at the moment I have no complaints. I do sort of wish I could just pay for the full app without getting hooked into a subscription model but, I don't think that's an option on most apps like it used to be "in the old days" and the fact that I will actually pay for the app means I really like it.
Goals Never Work; Stops Activities Short. Not a bad app if all you need is speed and mileage, but not the greatest otherwise. The “Goals” feature never records workouts, even though I’ve repeatedly created goals that should be completed daily and weekly based on my activities. The mileage tracking is a bit short, compared to other activity trackers and known trail mileages. Also if you need help in the app, you will not even be able to access the help link because the screen scrolls up before you are able to select “Help”, probably due to the advertisement link at the top of the page. I enjoyed this app before, but it looks like it’s about time for me to find a replacement since this app is inconsistent with its performance.
Very inaccurate distance and speed. They updated the app to be more accurate but the opposite happened. On a 30 mile ride the app is off by 2.5 miles! I compared milage to my apple watch and ua’s own route planner. I also drove the route and measured with my car. My watch, my car,and ua’s route planner all agree on the distance, the mapmyride app is simply wrong. I have been a paying subscriber for years and was very happy with the app. I had over 20k mile accurately mapped, then the update. I contacted their support and at first they said the app was right and was now more accurate. Then i showed them the comparisons including their own route planner (which is a cool tool on their website). They sent back a long list of bs things to do with my phone like killing all apps, rebooting, and then riding with only mapmyride running - silly but i tried it but the results were the same. I switched to strava and while i like mapmyride functionality better than strava, at least i get the right distances now. They may have improved accuracy for some limited specific set of use cases, but they broke the app for the majority of users.
Good potential, many important things do not work. I love the clear, easy to read display. Set up options are a breeze. The problem is the app is hard to pair with BT devices, and impossible with multiple bikes. I did an experiment a few days ago where I tried to pair a simple HRM. Map My Ride would not find it. Strava and Wazoo fitness connected right away. Strava and Wazoo also seamlessly and effortlessly support multiple bikes (and multiple BT devices). Also recently, I issued a trouble ticket when I tried to pair my DuoTrap speed and cadence sensor. In the response I received, the developer admitted trouble pairing with this speed and cadence sensor device (with iPhone). The ability to pair BT devices is basic, and these problems are inexcusable for this type of app. These problems really bother me as I love the app and I want them to do well. I also paid for the ad free version, and I want to realize the full value if my purchase. With their affiliation with UA, you’d think this would be fixed. Get it together UA if you want to earn the respect of those serious about their fitness.
I really like the app and have the free version but a few Ext. A few extra features could drastically improve the experience. 1. Better customization of run distances. My military run distance for pt is 1.5 miles can only set for 1 or 2 miles which requires constant app monitoring when nearing the 1.5 mark. 2. Ability to auto stop a gym workout at a certain time. Lost track of how many times I have left the gym and forgot to stop my workout which completely destroys my data tracking. Half the times I don’t realize I forgot to stop it till I am at the gym for my next workout and open it to see it’s still running 😔
GPS fix!!. So, I’ve have used this app since 2010. It appears to be the oldest “voluntary” app on my now-fourth iPhone. For me the process of becoming has been a difficult one. I self-identify now as a runner but my high school glory days were as an offensive/defensive lineman. Completing 9 full marathons and an equal number of halves created a different view on running than that bestowed on me as a child. This isn’t a brag or therapy session but I thought background on passion level was relevant here. The apps historical GPS tracking has been less than great, in my opinion. Seven of the nine marathons have been completed with a human training partner since 2002. He upgraded his technology since 2010 while I have stayed committed to MapMy(was ride now run). At the end of each run we would compare speed and most importantly distance. Shorter runs would have little to no difference but longer runs would be off and in recent years it would consistently get wonky at mile 7ish. Voice feedback would go from the correct 7.25, 7.50, 7.75 to 7.24, 7.49, etc. and then might completely stop or report even stranger numbers. I don’t need to tell you what that does to your mental game at this point in a longer run but we can agree it’s not good. This seems to be fixed! Today I ran the third of three runs over 7 miles in the past week. The problems at that distance are no longer there. Also, the accuracy seems to be better. Several points in the run I yielded the sidewalk to walkers (for social distancing) and that seems to be tracked correctly. During the last mile I zig-zagged along the street to see if that was recorded and it appears to have tracked that correctly. A good resolution!! Happy running to you in these crazy pandemic days and thanks for reading my diatribe here.
Sync with watch not good after update. I’ve used this app for 2 yrs. after it updated this last time it doesn’t sync with my Apple Watch correctly. I used to open the app on my watch, open it on my phone and hit start on the phone and the watch and phone would sync. The app would tell me my heart rate through my headphones. Now it keeps telling me to start the app from the watch. When I do, it doesn’t link up with my phone and I can’t hear my stats through my earbuds. If I start it from the phone now it doesn’t record my heart rate. I loved this app and now it’s just messed up. I’ll keep using it for a while but if it doesn’t work like before I’m going to find a replacement.
Map my Ride. I’ve been using MapMyRide for probably 10 years now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the most motivating fitness applications I’ve ever used. The app has tracked and logged my rides for over a decade, which allows me to look back and see the progress I’ve made throughout the years. That alone has been incredibly motivating and rewarding. The app is easy to use, reliable, and great for tracking cycling activity, routes, distance, and performance. I strongly recommend this app to anyone looking to get into bicycling or anyone who wants a great way to stay motivated and monitor their activity and progress over time. Great app and definitely one I’ll continue using.
Unreliable. Not for serious use.. Update 20 May 2023 I’ve continued to use the app, but it never fails to disappoint. There have been no improvements to the app in several years. My biggest frustrations are that you cannot edit a workout and if you either hit the wrong button or forget to hit a button, you will lose everything. What started out as a Five-Star app is now barely worthy of one star. The app needs some major work. I’ve been using Map My Ride for years. It was a great application when I first started with it. It has gotten worse over the past couple years. It randomly stops recording. I record both walks and bicycle rides. I might go on a 20 mile ride but when I finish it will sometimes say that it was something much less, like eight miles. Lately, I’ve been walking more than riding. After a two-hour walk yesterday Map My Ride said that I had only walked for half an hour and had only walked half a mile. The app also often fails to record workouts even when the entire workout was properly recorded. If you accidentally forget to stop recording, you cannot edit the workout and have it synchronize with Apple Watch. The app frequently hangs up and remains connected to Apple Watch long after a workout has ended. That causes the Apple Watch’s battery to run down quickly. The only solution I’ve found is to reboot both my phone and my watch at the same time. I am using the paid version. As I am writing this, I am wondering if I am being too generous giving this once five-star app two stars.
Good app. I have difficulty rating this app. Under Armour makes it and MapMyFitness and others. I usually use the one that I named. Unless an app stands out for its positives, I rarely give 5 stars. I read other reviews about it. I updated and went for a short walk. Cycling might be different. It worked correctly. I read a review with an iPhone 8 Plus. Mine is a 7 Plus. I know about buttons (screen) being pushed and causing problems. I carry my phone. If your app will not record the workout, I have a suggestion. If you want to know your speed, this does not work. Record the start and end times. Know where you road. When you are done, use a desktop or laptop to create the route you rode. I suggest logging from the phone. It starts you at 12 am otherwise.
New version. After to a long hiatus (starting when we found out my late wife had cancer and continuing long after because I was lazy) I’m back on my bike. Since I had used Map My Ride so much before I continued with it. It’s easy to use and tracks the ride length, average speed, duration of the ride, number of miles, calories burned, and even the elevation change. The only thing I don’t like is that a couple of weeks ago they changed what you see. You used to see number of miles, duration, average speed, and current speed at one time. Now it rotates through one or two at a time. Really tough when you’re trying to watch where you’re going but want to see your speed or distance.
Kayaking?. I have been using this app for about 10 years now and there was always an option for kayaking. I went to use it today and could not find kayaking anywhere and I had just used it a few days ago. Where did it go? I love the app but that’s the sport I use it for so it’s not gonna do me much good anymore. Also the last time I used it for a dog walk the music kept coming on and I kept turning it off but that was a waste of time as it seems to have a mind of its own. I did restart my phone hoping kayaking would resurface but it did not.
Ok so far. Just downloaded yesterday and so far so good. I have noticed a few glitches: unable to edit your hometown if you are not currently there. It'll only let you change based on your current location. Also, when joining a challenge you're unable to see the very bottom of the screen where it lists rules, specifics, etc because the pop up asking if you want promotional notifications won't get out of the way. Otherwise though seems to be pretty straightforward and does the basic tracking I needed it for.
Decent but…. This app is nice to keep track of your route and all the statistics in it. As in average speed, distance, the area you’ve covered, etc… one thing I don’t really like it the info… I chooses to identify as non-binary, in the info tab, you can only choose to be male or female… sex and gender are two different things. Sex is and person reproductive organ in their body. And gender is what you choose to identify as. I know there’s a lot of mixed opinions on this topic everywhere, but this app should be a place for everyone. If I were to change it, I’d ether put a ‘choose not to say’ option under the gender info tab, or have non-binary and or a blank option there.
Not fixing the problem. I have used this app for years and have really appreciated it. However, about two years ago it suddenly stopped working with the Bontrager DuoTrap on my Trek bike. One day it worked, the next day it didn’t. I reach out every few months to see if they’re fixing the problem, but the response continues to be that it’s harder to fix than they thought and they’ll let us know when it’s fixed. This app still works for logging other activities, but not for the reason I got it in the first place. The good news is that Strava and Wahoo have always worked great with the DuoTrap, so I’ll keep using those until this gets fixed.
I Love This App!. I love this app. I've been using it for over a year and it hasn't failed me yet. It's really easy to navigate, I love the real time map display, and it's pretty intuitive overall. I downloaded Strava a few moths ago because it's so popular but it hasn't won me over yet. I find this app to be way easier to use and it displays what I want to see without my having to make any selections. I'm sticking with it! I do find I prefer to listen to my music separately from the app. I think it uses less battery that way and it's easier to navigate through my playlists. The only issue I’ve had with it is that it will occasionally shut off and stop tracking so when I open it up again it makes a straight line between where it shut down and reopened. This doesn’t happen often but when it does it’s frustrating. I still prefer it over Strava any day.
Cool idea but.... Cool idea but has quite a few bugs. At first it seemed really great. Until I started “checking” it’s data for accuracy. It doesn’t handle gps very well which leads to most information being inaccurate. I used this to map my bike path. And see my speed, distance, top speed and the entire path that I traveled. It had all of that in the free version and the ads are minimal (except one in the last few days which the x button wasn’t shown on iPhone X screen). The issue came quick when I started doing math and known distances. Nothing added up and I noticed when checking my paths, sometimes it would just auto jump me from one skipped me 2 miles and instead of showing actual path just showed straight line. Which still isn’t that bad. I continued to use it. You know. Free and all that’s not bad. The issue is it doesn’t turn the app off and requires phone to be rebooted completely to close app or it just constantly stays open killing my Apple Watch. No matter how many times I manually close the app on phone and watch, every time I lift my hand after a couple minutes, it just shows the app open and wanting me to continue my already finished. And synced my work out. I uninstalled due to heating phone and watch and destroying battery so quickly.
Been a member since 2007 - now leaving.. I have used these MapMy products since before UA bought them. They have been really good products for riding and hiking - the two things I use them for. I haven’t been too active for a while but on getting my bike ready and starting to ride again, I tried to link my speed and cadence sensors up and had no luck. In searching the web, I found lot’s of advice on how to do it but nothing worked. Then I found their announcement page where they told us that support for those things was discontinued. In order to use their app I will have to go out and invest in new sensors and get another app that will sync to their app. Sorry, I’ll be getting a new app. To me this a pretty egregious abuse of their customers for MAP MY RIDE! I mean, really, if you can’t get accurate speed and cadence to combine with your heart rate while riding… The speed that I get when using just the app jumps all over the place from 21 mph to 11 mph so it’s not real clear what you are doing. Hate to say it but BYE!
The new versions are poor quality. I have used the app since the beginning of 2015. I also bought a premium membership when it became available and then the company made the application for free. Never got any money back but that was OK. The new versions have caused the speed indicator could be slow in responding to changes and very deceptive. Also when you come to a stop or when starting again the app is very slow in responding. If you don’t really care about the accuracy of the data it collects then this might be fine. Is that used to be very reliable And good to work with. I am currently evaluating a couple of other apps to replace this one. I am somewhat annoyed that they are now offering a premium product with new features supposedly. Since I was a premium member prior and they made it for free; I will not trust them going forward.
Love it mostly. This app is versatile in that you use it for biking, running, walking. It also lets you customize aspects of your bike and works with iPhone fitness tracking. My only issue with it is I feel ripped off on distance at times. Started finding with friends who use other apps and some reason mine always comes up different. We ride 20-25 miles and the other 2 apps as well as one person also using a cateye show anything from 1-2 miles more than I do. At first I figured it could be their app, but cumulatively when I noticed it was all them within 1/4 mile of each other and me with less I decided this almost has to be shorting the distance some.
Glitchy [glitch resolved]. [Update. OK, it turns out that you have to go to the Map My Ride website in order to save this location request. The app does not include a possibility for doing so. I hardly ever log into MMR on my computer, so it did not occur to me initially. Once I went to the website I was able to complete the request, and it has disappeared from my phone app. Thank goodness.] I've used this app satisfactorily for quite awhile, but in the last couple of weeks the app keeps asking me to confirm my location (country). If I select the country and click "next" I get a dialogue saying there was a error and the info was not saved. It at least then provides an option to "skip" and proceed using the app, but since it won't save I have to do this dance every single time I open the app. I tend to make lots of starts and stops each day, so click, click, skip multiple times a day is getting really annoying and makes me think it is time to find a new app for ride mapping.

Awesome app..... Got sick of ALL the adds though so bought the Pro Version
Faulty connection to gps. Since I upgraded my iPhone 5 (3 weeks ago) I’ve had problems with connection & tracking, I connect & have the app but it doesn’t work I have no control can’t find friends can’t start session, can look at previous rides etc. System has improved dramatically now it works 95% of the time.
Enjoying riding again. This app makes it really easy to connect and monitor my kms.
Distances. MapMyRide is a good app because I can record really far distances on one go.
Great app for different sports. Love this app - great that you can set it up just how you want it re. Type of workout, coaching etc. only improvement would be if it had an auto pause feature.
Pushed Wrong App. I walked pushed wrong button didn’t have my glasses
Needs fix. Since the latest iOS and Apple Watch updates, the app will not work on my watch.
Speed is not getting calculated correctly. When it comes to speed calculations it’s wrong and I did not expect this from this app. Interestingly it was all working fine until last week
Been using it for years .. Love it for keeping track of my ride and runs .
App will not open on iwatch after latest release. Have fully reset watch and resynched with iPhone. Click icon to open app and get blank watch screen then returns to watch face. Only started after release a day ago
Good but wish it would pick up I’m from Australia. Love the app but the only thing I don’t like is it shows other people all around the world but not people from where I live. It’s nothing major but it would be nice to see others around my area etc. I’ve set all my locations to my area but that’s the only fault I have with this. Everything else is perfect.
Devices. Connecting devices hasn’t worked for a few months. Now it works & it’s automatic, but that means it’s connecting the wrong devices & it appears impossible to disconnect a device up the list to get at ones further down. Please fix this soon.
Split time option. Be nice to have an option to have split time being announced like split speed
Unreliable tracking. I’ve had a few issues with the tracking, but recently the app would just stop tracking my rides after I’ve pressed start. Incredibly frustrating to get halfway through a ride to realise it hasn’t tracked anything. Better options out there.
Conflicts with Apple watch. I just wanted to track my rides on a map. The app was saying that there is more tracking via apple watch. But on the free version not only does it not pull any data from the watch, it doesn't even stote the ride as an exercise. Why would you disable functionality that is already on the apple watch? Free version not worth it.
Poor privacy policy. This is one of those apps that won’t let you use it without consenting to share your data. Sorry but this is a pathetic approach to privacy. You should always be able to use basic features of an app without having to share all of your data. None of these companies can guarantee your data will not be used for marketing or protect it from external intrusion. I work in the software industry so I know what I am talking about. My advice is to use one of the many other apps available.
Lance come back. We all know if it happens where it happens - still the best Lance.
Just a ride to the store. Beautiful ride this morning while wishing walkers a Merry Christmas.
Increased motivation!. Love this app & how it combines so many features that motivate me and help me enjoy my ride! It makes me want to go for more bike rides!
Restart timer issue. Great except sometimes doesn’t auto restart after stopping for exercise circuit.
My favourite app. Initially I downloaded the run version to sync with UA shoes and loved it so o downloaded this for my bike ride and love it. No glitches and I can customise it to suit my riding style. Love looking back at my data, track and compare my different rides. I use it with every ride now. Highly recommended!!!
Logged out and support is useless. I’ve been using this app for about a decade. Having recently upgraded my iPhone, I discovered I needed to log back in to use the app. I’ve asked for a password reset multiple times and continue to be sent on the AI generated help page merry-go-around. It seems to be impossible to find a way out of this catch 22. All support pathways lead back to the same original password reset page. Previously this app has worked glitch free and I’ve used it for logging bike rides and in particular love to use it running when I’m in a new location (I travel a lot for work). It’s a sad state of affairs when a loyal user feels the need to leave a one star review in the App Store to get some customer service for a simple issue like logging back in.
Map my ride. The best app ever I was looking for an app so I could know how far I rode and this did the trick
Very clever and useful!. I use this in combination with Fitbit and MapMyRide. I don’t always have the discipline to keep up the recording but great when I do!! Keep up the good work!
Great. Exactly what everyone needs
Great app!. Great app. for keeping a record of dates, distances, time taken and personal notes on the type/difficulty of the ride. All for FREE!
Nice with Apple Watch 7. No heart rate data and everything works really well on the iPhone and Apple Watch. However it would be really nice if It could totally share data with the iPhone health and workouts apps. There is some strange behaviour there.
Love it. I really enjoy using Map My Ride, keeping track of my rides 💕
Great app easy to use. Easy to use and great information
First day and I am smiling. Took the app for a ride and compared to other apps it is far superior the updates as you are riding is just awesome 😎
Map my ride/walk. Love this app use it everyday to log my workouts. I can easily share with my friends and family which has been great since Covid 19 has taken over our lives. Brilliant app!
Excellent app. Always reliable and easy to use.
Great app. Really impressed with MapMyRide. Only thing missing is the ability to enter a destination and be provided with directions while cycling.
Best App. Such a great app, it's easy to use! It's clear and simple and keeps me motivated to get better each ride!
New App Rate my Ride. I was recommended this App by a cycling friend. So far I have been amazed at the amount of information it generates and it seems very user friendly
Wednesday ride. Everybody in my bike group enjoys the updates emanating from my back pocket as we ride along. Kilometres time and wind speed etc.
Best by Farr. I use it to track my sailing. Really good for studying times, course and splits. I also use it to track outboard motor fuel usage! Great app.
Good app. Good app - great tracking and stats. Would be great to have street names on the map.
Happy camper. I love the running commentary whilst I'm riding. The maps are accurate and the times are correct.
Best. I’ve used this app for years, one of the best apps out there and hasn’t missed a beat
Pt. Works really well does everything I need but some max speeds are way optimistic
Not letting me sign in. This app will not let me sign in saying you do not meet the terms and even though I am over 13 years
Scooter. I’m in my 60s scared of bikes so I use this app with my scooter( like the kids only for big people) this is great it naps out my route, counts my calories and syncs with myfitnesspal app.
Review. This app is so easy to use and makes tracking your rides a lot more fun!
Badminton not there on Apple Watch. Why is badminton not there as activity on Apple Watch for MapMyRide. I can see that activity on the mobile app but don’t see on Apple Watch. Would love to see that as activity on watch as well. would greatly be appreciated!
Nearby routes. Why has this been removed? It was a great feature that enables you to pick a ride based on length and elevation. Please bring it back ASAP
Exactly!. This is exactly what you want, if you have no other tracking equipment and just want to use your phone. Works perfectly.
Birtinya to Dickie Beach - off road. Once at beach it is a ride thru bush on great 2 m wide concrete/wood surface. 100 m from beach then around Currimindi Lake before following beach Tk again. Return journey great as well. Good coffee at Dickie Beach. Will encounter a few walkers , kids on bikes etc who are not paying attention.
Works perfect. Using this app since a few months. Works perfect along multiple cycling tracks.
Under 13s. Why is the App rated for age 4+ but someone under 13 cannot use it. My son does a lot of riding is almost 13 and it’d be good for him to be able to use the app to keep track of his bike ride kms.

Under armour app 👍. Love this app, works awesome 😎
Wonderful. I use this app for my biking and hiking. It’s a great way to track your route, distance, speed and time. I highly recommend it.
Review. App is easy to use I like the flexibility of this app and the breakdowns
Love it. Great app to keep track of where you have been
Won’t work with Apple Watch. It’s not working with my Apple Watch. Really disappointing!
great app!. very easy to use!
Randomly Shuts downs. Update*** this is my third review and it doesn’t get any better, time after time this app is a let down. If it’s not one thing then it’s something else. I open the app this morning and lost everything, I lost all my workout history (2 years of data), my list of friends/connection etc… it’s like the apps restored by itself. My second review They have fixed my first review (see below). But just like other reviews, this app is full of bugs. I no longer can see who “likes” my workouts and I cannot load previous comments when checking out someone elses workout. For those reasons I’m still giving this a 1 star….. My first review Randomly Shuts down This app shuts down randomly while in use. Very frustrating and I’ve written down the same review 3-4 times now and nothing has been done. Will change apps after my yearly challenge.
My 5 star rating. Easy to use.
Still not working. Still not working
Thumbs up. Great app! I use this app instead of the app that my cyclist team uses
Good app and accurate. Very good app and accurate. Works well with my Apple Watch. Highly recommend
Map My ride issues. Map my ride app has been great for me the last few years. This year it is hanging up and not tracking my rides. Anyone else having that issue?
To not register!. If you want to receive promotional emails from under armour, sure. I have clicked on unsubscribe and entered my emails for a million times! But they keep sending me promotional emails every single day!
Best free activity tracker. I got this app for cycling and it performed better then I expected. Then I discovered that it has several activities to choose from, including Nordic walking (urban polling) which I do whenever I head out for a walk. Tracking/GPS is very accurate. It’s great that I can turn on voice updates to let me know time, distance, pace etc. I appreciate that I can add photos and notes about each workout.
App stopped launching - can’t access my data. App was working fine until it stopped launching one day. I’m still trying to get access to my data but can’t find a way; I had some good souvenirs of past family rides that I had unfortunately loaded in it (pictures along the way, rides distance with kids, etc.) I’ll probably lose it all. Very disappointed to see this happening, and many others are in my situation.
1st run after back recovery. First outdoor run and was ok.
Great App. It keeps track of my workouts without too many complicated bells and whistles
Not working on Apple Watch. I love this app, and since the last update a few days ago - it won’t work on my Apple Watch - very disappointed - before this I would have gave it 5 stars
Missed half my ride. When you pause it when you stop writing and then someway hopefully you guys can figure out to start the bike ride again right after even if I forget because I didn’t log about 33% of my bike ride
Great app. Love this app
Bugs all the time. Keeps freezing after starting a run
Athletes best training companion. The app is great for any multi- sport or outdoor enthusiast. Track your activity and route for multiple activities. Load pictures and comments for future reference. As a traveller who lived hiking and running in other countries it is always fun to look back at the routes you have travelled.
Données fournies très pratiques et précises.. Merci pour ce bon logiciel très utile.
Needs Apple Health Fix. Will not connect to Apple Health. Will not display heart rate in workouts. Fix that and you’ll have a great app.
Great app. App is easy to use and syncs with my watch. Nice to have workouts tracked.
Will not sync data with my Apple health. I loved this app and it worked great and then suddenly will not synch any data with any of my other health apps. As a result I deleted it. Very disappointing and frustrating
Fun app. Great
Très bonne application. Très bonne application, fidèle, stable dont le système GPS est très exact et efficace. Je recommande. En plus cette application est gratuite avec des tonnes de statistiques interessantes.
Recommended !!!. App works great! However after the last app update, the GPS (for Apple Watch) stopped working.
Amazing app but laggy. I finished a 140 km bike and the app was perfect until I finished and it’s frozen on the save workout option, not letting me click on to it and I tried resetting my phone and even deleting the app and reinstalling it but it doesn’t work.
Wish it synced with Fitbit. This was my go-to app for years - until I got a Fitbit and saw my calories burned were not accurate (Fitbit using heart rate). Wishing this sub yes with Fitbit now.
stopped tracking. the app stopped tracking
Great but…. I wish the app went back to notifying you every Km that you bike instead of every 5 km. Developers please could you write that into the settings??
Great App. This is a great app, keeps track of all the data that I require. The only enhancement I would like to see is for the time to stop running when I am stationary I.e. when waiting for traffic to pass when crossing a road.Everything else, maps, elevation, distance etc all good.
Perfect. It is a very excellent and practical software that has a wonderful user interface and is very easy and efficient to use
Great app. The app never seems to fault, and has never let me down
Great app!. I love the simplicity of this app that tracks and accurately measures the distance of my cycling activity, including off-road ventures. Greatly admired and appreciated.
App works okay. Sometimes the GPS on the app isn't too accurate. And records more distance than travels. Otherwise a great app.
Running great. With last up-date app no longer crashes on opening. Thank you for the fix.
Wowza. Great app and just amazing features
Does not connect. I have a Polar and the app does not connect to the heart monitor Sucks
Lost accuracy. Dall the readings - distance, time calories - don’t match the workout recently.
Very satisfied. App works well. Use it consistently for walking, snowshoeing and cycling.
The best. Gives one the motivation to keep pushing when you see your trail. Very rewarding and encouraging to see your results in real time
Not working on iOS 15. Looks like the app is broken on iOS 15. I can’t start a workout or access any options in the app.
Nice. I am enjoying the app and it is a nice motivator to exercise with its helpful features.
BH walking. Great app, lets you compare other rides. Good detail.
LOVE this app :-). Thank-you for providing a FREE version, which is so wonderful!! Giving me the option to upgrade. That I probably will because it’s prefect for when I go riding and will probably use it with other sports :-)
Map my ride. Great app! Can do everything on my phone which makes my life easier! Thank you!!

My Cycling Partner. I’ve been using this app since 2013 and it is an integral part of my cycling routine. In fact, I’ve come to a point where if my phone is low on charge, I’ll wait until it’s charged just so I can use this app while on the road. Overall, it works great though it would be wonderful if the app had a multi-mobility function in it such as being on a train as part of a single journey. Otherwise it’s an incredibly user friendly, informative, and essential application. Kudos to the MapMyRide team.
I hate the new upgrade. I recently updated the app (to the orange ombre icon from the red icon), and I really dislike the "upgrades." The app now only does 5 mile splits rather than 1 mile splits (presumably to convince you to buy the pro), and it starts sound loudly and immediately when you start and stop a ride--which is awkward when I bike to work and have to turn it off in the office. I wish I could revert back to the previous version, which I loved.
Nice app.. Started using it seriously for a couple of rides. I have some concern regarding how much cellular data it uses and I plan to monitor it. Also, I am not sure if the app supports this but I would like it to pause when I come to a stop or a slow rolling stop. Seems that it should not count stops into average speed. I usually have no control due to things beyond my control such as stop signs and traffic. This should be an option
Stopped working properly for no apparent reason. This app used to wear a great. I’ve been using the free version for a couple of years now, but all of a sudden it just stopped working. I mean the tracking is very inconsistent. It seems to pause on its own. I’ve checked the settings, and it’s not set to auto pause. But for some reason it seems like when my phone goes into screen saver mode, the app stops tracking me. When it worked, it was great. But now that it doesn’t work, it’s useless to me. For your information I’m using an iPhone 6 Plus. I know the phone is a little bit older, so maybe that’s the problem.
Became unreliable. I’ve used this app for a couple years now. I used to love it! It tracked my walks, runs, bike rides and gym workouts. For the last few months though it has become extremely unreliable. It has trouble starting on the Apple Watch. I’ve spent close to 10 minutes before a workout just trying to get the app to work. I’ve uninstalled and re installed and same thing. Then if it does work and I go to end workout and save it’ll go back to pause and only option is resume. This app barely every works as it’s supposed to. I wish the developers would fix these issues. In the meantime I’ll be looking for another app to use.
Great app most of the time. I've been using this app for a few years and it does a great job of keeping track of most workouts. GPS a little inaccurate sometimes but just by small distances. Syncing between iWatch and phone has been an issue but not sure if that is the app's fault or my phone's. I called customer service to get some help with syncing issues and was basically advised that I needed to buy an upgraded package if I wanted it to work better. Wasn't a great sales pitch to ask me to pay money for a plan when they couldn't fix the free one I've been using.
Good tool for tracking and coaching.. Have used this for a few years. Like the audible call outs for miles and pace keeps you moving. Route tracking is very good and auto start/stop works much better now. Can give it 5 stars now because it has dropped the a login request every time I open the app. It retains my ride history as well which is good reminder to keep after my workouts. Better at working even in sleep mode.
Great app Except for 1 problem. 1 problem: the pause button is right at the very bottom of the screen so it is almost impossible to close out the app (swipe up) on iPhone without accidentally and unknowingly pausing your workout. Then check to see how far you went when you’re finished just to find out that it stopped tracking you a quarter mile from your house.
Not current when you share it. I like everything except the fact when you get Done with your bike ride, which could be two or three hours long, when you share it on Facebook a post all the way back to the time when you left and not current on the newsfeed so no one even sees it. I have to comment on it to get it to refresh and be new again in the newsfeed. Kind of useless for Facebook posting anyways. Other than that it’s a wonderful app and I love keeping track of my rides and all the stats
The worst cycling app is updated with more ads.. I have been using six tracking apps simultaneously on my bike rides. Every program is within way less than 1% of each other on tracking mileage. That is, except for Map My Ride which records between five and 7% less than every other app. So, if you do a century ride with all of your friends that use Strava you will only cover 93 miles versus their 100 miles according to map my ride. To compensate for this, Map My Ride has now started using far more push advertisements. This does not help. The features in map my ride are excellent, however they seriously need to update their mileage logging to get in line with Every. Single. Other. App. On the market.
This app changed my life!. I love map my ride. I can do bike or run or power walk etc. Best part is I am accountable and can see my improvements and my weaknesses. Bad part of app is the coaching seems inaccurate. It seems to stay stuck at the same speed a lot and it’s definitely not telling me when I am going 3.5mph or 3.9 mph etc. Cell signals are strong on my iPhone so not sure what the problem is
Distance?. I’ve used several different apps over the years and this one rates among them in the top 75-80%. The one curious thing is that it measures the same course that I use differently depending on whether it’s in a walk mode or a bike mode. I’ve both ridden the same course in both a walk and bike mode and walked the same course in both a walk and bike mode. Either way it measures the course about 10% longer when in walk mode than in any of the bike modes.
Fantastic bike app. Map my ride is one of the most comprehensive and accurate apps that I’ve used in a long time. I would strongly recommend this it also gives you updates on the half hour on how fast, how many miles, andAverage speed. Great feature have used it for about three months now and I’ve enjoyed it. Will stay with this app. Recommend it highly to all my bike riding friends.
Good App - But. The app works pretty well for the rode biking I do. I appreciate the display and the ability to configure it the way you like. The distances sometimes seem inconsistent with previous rides but no two rides are exactly alike so it’s probably just “operator error”. I used to use Endomondo, which was also by UnderArmor. I liked it better and was VERY disappointed when I couldn’t bring my workouts over from it before they stopped supporting it. I tried following their directions but they didn’t work.
Doesn’t work with Apple Watch. I am having the same trouble other users are having. I have use this app for years and loved it. It seems with every update the app gets worse. It used to pair seamlessly with my watch with respect to heart rate. Now sometimes it takes about 10 miles before it syncs with the watch if at all. I have also noticed that my current speed is not accurate. Foe example it may register that I am going 20 miles an hour when I know it is closer to 12 - 15mph and vice versa. I wish they would fix it because it was a great app.
What??? No power meter, cadence or speed sensors?!. I just re-entered the biking world on a relatively serious basis after a ten+ year layoff (kids will do that). My past penetration into the power meter world involved the CycleOps Power Tap, e-Trainer, and Pro 300pt trainers. I’m looking at some of the newer power meter and app combos, and chose MapMyRide. I recently downloaded this app and began using its basic functions. Unfortunately, UA recently decided to cease support for all external devices except for rate. Bummer. See ya. This is a good thing, though, as it forced me to have a serious look at Cyclemeter. I like it. Much more inexpensive for the premium features, too. Check it out.
Help!!. I downloaded this app and I logged in. Began entering my information in and it keeps coming up with a error creating profile and a retry option. Literally does this non stop. I have a My fitness pal app and when I tried connecting it it made me go through the whole process again. I tried contacting support and it makes me log into my account which then takes me through the promps as if I’m registering for a new account. Once I go through it it says you already have an account. So I hit logon and it takes me back to the beginning where I log in and then it makes me enter information as if I need to register. It’s so frustrating!
Voice Feedback time is messed up. Repeated trouble tickets over the years about this apparent programming error have resulted in acknowledgment but no correction. This failure reflects deficiencies in their process and operations and leaves one wondering what other problems & inaccuracies have been neglected to reduce costs. Specifically, if iPhone is set to use a 24-hour clock, Voice Feedback will not recite the hour of the day between 00:01 and 09:59. Only the minutes are recited. They have had years to put this on their docket but have failed miserably. So once per mile, I hear the result, and think how fortunate I am to be able to pay them to ignore me. If only I could get the spammers on that plan!
Good, basic free app. I choose to not pay for the added features I can get from other free apps, like weather and wind speed, etc., so that is a bit annoying. And the app is funny in that it records different distances for the exact route I ride frequently. For example, the difference in the round trip distance from my front door to the end of the Galveston Seawall and back can be as much as 1.5 miles. Perhaps this is due to satellites the app uses to measure distance, but it seems like a large variance for a ride that is only 18-20 miles. Just sayin’....
Love yet weird sound from app. The app seems good. Used it a few times now. My problem is that when I start a workout if I get out of app (and it’s still calculating miles etc) let’s say to change music there is a subtle scratchy sound. It stops once I’m back in the app. So I get to a beautiful mountain vista and there’s a subtle noise from my phone. Granted I can just open app or pause the workout but it’s weird and has been inconvenient. And for the cost and for a big brand why does your app make sound when I’m calculating a ride but the app is not open? Ps I have an iPhone 7
Long time user great app. This app gives great information and syncs data from my Garmin watch perfectly. The free version is good enough for most but the paid version will give you a bit more, obviously. I use it mostly for mountain biking and road biking. I find it more useful that Strava which is just a social media app to me and an expensive waste. The paid version of this is very reasonable and does more.
Accurate mileage; supportive community. The app is easy to use. Sometimes I forget to pause the app but it will pause when it senses no movement. If I forget to restart after a break, the app will restart. I’m a recreational biker, so the lapses in time/distance/speed aren’t important to me. But you always have the option to be in control. The user community is wonderful with lots of encouragement. There are many challenges to keep me motivated. Always have fun!
Ad keeps my screen active. Previously I was unhappy with how it calculated distance, but they seem to of fix that. Now the map records the walk in the “ wrong city” another new problem is they have an ad which keeps your phone open at the end of your walk. If you’re not paying attention you look at your phone an hour later, it’s screen is open, on and you’ve lost half your battery life. Very disappointing! I’m not against the ad, just let it close my phone so I have battery life when I need it!
Accurate enough, at times MPH is off. I really do love this app. It is SO easy to use right out of the gate. Only thing that needs improvement is the MPH tracking. I KNOW today I was faster than 29 MPH going down the same hill, that last week the app said I was going 39MPH. One down hill it clocked me at 70 MPH, I know I never went that fast! Over all it’s a great app for the casual athlete. And it is SO nice that routes/rides I’ve taken years ago, are still on the app, so I can see how I’ve progressed. And it’s all free! Thank you UA! 💙
Good when it works. When it works, I like it. I don’t love it; some things it doesn’t seem to keep like cadence; even though I can see my cadence as I ride with my Wahoo RPM I don’t see anywhere to see that data afterwards. But it’s decent. However lately, I’ve been having so many problems between my iPhone X and my Apple Watch Series 4. They don’t sync when I start a ride every time, one or the other crashes, or it doesn’t save my data to Activity. Little things that seem to happen randomly but make for an unsatisfying experience, especially when you’ve paid for premium features.
Huge increase in crashes recently. I’ve been a loyal MapMyRider for 5+ years with a Pro (paid) account but a recent release may change that. The app consistently crashes in the background a minute into my “Walk” exercise, and the workout is not tracked. This has happened four times in the past week, never occurred previously. I’ve contacted Support twice, never heard back. As a paying user, I expect the app to work. Please.... Fix this bug, Under Armour team!
I wish it were better. The app for not support my watch (2nd gen, watch OS 4.3.2) so the app does not actually record my heart rate. If I were using this for fitness tracking rather than route guidance I would be pretty sad about that. Also, the app integrates control of iTunes, which is all well and good, but not Audible nor Stitcher, which also makes me sad. The route guidance is very nice, and I appreciate the split announcements, which let me feel like I’m making some progress. Also, the route map showing altitude gain/loss is really nice, so I can plan on cresting that hill. Very helpful for a route I haven’t gone before.
Love it tremendously…. My brother who lives in Florida and is an avid rider recommended this app to me three months ago. When I first got into bike riding for exercise and fun I wasn’t sure I was going to use or even like this app. Now I can’t get on the bike without it. I absolutely love it. I use it even when I go just to the store on my bike. If you’re looking for a riding app that gives you everything (information) this is all you’ll ever need..!
Good app. Bug with “Split Speed”. In the current version (it wasn’t always this way), when it reads the average speed and the speed over the last 5-mile split, they always match. I’m not sure if it is reading the average speed for both or the split speed for both. But this bug has been around for at least the last 6 months or a year and hasn’t been fixed. Otherwise, it’s a nifty, helpful app.
Total malfunction as of late. I would have given the ap a better rating in the past, as I’ve used it for years, but recently it has completely started to malfunction. Originally stopping my workouts at exactly 2 minutes 23 seconds without warning. A total bummer after finishing a five mile run and getting no “ap credit”. Six failed attempts later, I downloaded a new iPhone software update (mine was just one version old) and now the ap stops immediately after starting it. There are way too many exercise apps out there to continue to be frustrated with this one. You served me well for many years “Map My Ride, Run, Hike...,” but our relationship is going nowhere now.
Trouble ticket open since Nov 2021. If iPhone time is set in 24-hour mode, voice feedback will recite minutes only for time of day between 00:01 and 09:59. For example, at 07:52 (7:52 AM) “The current time is fifty two.” This easily replicated error has gone multiple development cycles without being addressed. They broke it, and now they won’t fix it. When I wrote to the CEO’s office, I received no response. I have been a paying customer for many years. The way Under Armour handles problems affecting customers says everything you need to know about their focus: Shareholder returns and bonuses for management, but “sorry loyal paying customer, we just don’t have the resources to fix mistakes in our products.”
Better Than Nothing. This app works reasonably well amidst all the pop-ads, Under Armour logos pasted all over it, and the nagging to pay for the Upgraded Version. It has been reliable, however the constant "updates" are baffling as to WHY? At random intervals the font will change along with the graphing and the color choices. Seems as if someone gets replaced by someone else who is under pressure to Make Changes. And we get new and head-scratching ones. Are they really necessary? Other mysteries include the choices of which routes are considered worthy of Clocking. Still further mystifying is the Ranking System within the routes & the little Brownie Points awarded. There is no correlation between ranking and speed, time, or times done. It's a fine way to keep track of mileage, and time spent cycling. Just don't take it too seriously.
Terrible, doesn’t track 5/6 of distance. Used to track really well. But this company has become hyper corrupt and terrible. My last few reviews have been deleted. This app used to work amazing in tracking distance, but now it didn’t even have track 5/6 of my distance. I road my bicycle for 6 miles and it counted 1 mile and told me I had been riding for 16 minutes. I cannot take this app anymore, going back to Strava, even though it’s basic in comparison at least it works consistently. You’d think a company who makes several billion dollars a year could afford to make apps that consistently work.
Good only when it works - full of bugs !!. User hell is here Can’t understand why UA can fix it and why people and organizers keep using this buggy app... probably sponsorship dollars $$( Sharing routes - send email or phone number or even searching routes by name just don’t work. Imagine struggling with your dark glasses trying to get a friend to share a route that does not show up. Latest on iPhone X is that when you send route Via email to phone, the app hangs up! Ridiculous! Do your developers actually ride and share routes ? Ride while trying to make settings - so many steps needed for a single item or feature. Or do they sit at their desk and fantasize what to do? Advice to users - don’t use this until there is no other option .. Only thing that works is making your own map4 stars. Everything else deserves 0 stars
It used to be Great. Like many apps these days, the developer wants to lock you into a subscription. I bought MapMyRide+ to get rid of ads, but that app will no longer be supported and gives way to the subscription model. Instead of letting users use the old app that they paid for, we will be forced to upgrade and pay for features I have now. I think not, with all the underarmour merchandise I bought over the years I should get a ten year subscription for free.
Needs updating!!. I really like this application. It is really handy when logging my runs and other workouts. I also like that it is friendly and no one is above anyone else and we all help each other. I do however don't like the fact that I can not see my own personal awards anymore. All I can see it my awards from the challenges. I would be nice to see where my personal best is and what else to work on. This needs to be adjusted so it be back to where it once was.
Always logging out. This app is inconvenient. I should be riding right now but instead I am trying to get into this dumb app that logs me out a lot. I don’t have internet when I ride my bike! Can’t fix anything on the road. You better make sure it is all good to go before you leave your house/ internet. Can’t save it until you get back in house. If you forget you won’t be using it for the next ride unless you trash the old ride to start again. Unreliable.
Review of old and mmr.. Like mapmyride had it for several years. Actually liked the old version a lot more. Any chance I could revert to the old? Will continue to use it but a bit disappointed. Would give the old version 5 stars. Please make sure you don't make it more complicated, at 58 don't need more stress trying to use the app! Please don't make it more complex. Have been using it since its original release and continue to use. Bill
Great app!. This app is outstanding. It functions as I need to map out my rides and to review work outs. Thank you for providing a great app. With the being said, I had recently purchased an Apple Watch and to my disappointment, this app is not compatible. Please make a version for the watch too! I use the exercise app on the watch and have to start this app on my phone as well. It would be useful to be able to start it on one device.
Good on iPhone, iffy on Apple Watch. The app for iPhone has always worked very well for my uses and has done a really good job tracking my routes and distances. However, I like to check the current stats on my watch (even though they play through my earbuds) and every so often the app on my watch freezes. I do NOT recommend pressing “Start” on the watch (it does not track correctly). I have to have the app open on both devices and press “Start” on the phone for the watch stats to appear. It takes a couple seconds but works well.
Better than other free alternatives. I have a suggestion. During a ride, you can expand the details and hide the map. This is the screen that I usually have open. On this screen, Speed and Average Speed are diagonal to each other. You should swap Distance and Speed so that Speed is above Average Speed. These are obviously related, so it makes to have them together somehow, instead of diagonal. A bonus idea is to change the color of Speed in relation to Average Speed. Make it green if your current speed is faster than average. Make it red if slower than average. You could adjust the saturation too. If you're close to average it could be greyer (but still noticeably a color). If there's a 5mph difference, make the color fully saturated. Let me know where to send my UX consulting bill.
Been using your app. For several years love it.. I don't like the apparent update I miss the mile by mile stats. I gave it 5 starts last time only 3 this time because of that. This last update that has been made has stopped my Apple Watch from sinking with my phone have lost many miles also it does not sink with my fitness pal app. Not happy. Two stars and I’m being generous 😡😡
Don’t subscribe!. I’ve used the free version for 3 years and it’s worked flawlessly. I tried the paid version a week ago(2 week trial) and in the first 10 days, for no reason, it stopped right in the middle of my workout 3 times. Twice it paused 10-12 miles into a 25 mile ride and once it ended the workout early. I haven’t used it any different. Start the workout, put it in my pocket, ride my bike and stop it at the end. Never did this once in 3 years with the free version. I concealed the paid and thankfully was still in the trial period.
Want to love this app but they make it hard to do that. There’s so much potentially right about this app but they have things they’re not addressing that are just a mess. Here’s a few: 1) MVP subscription. DO NOT DO IT IN APP. It doesn’t work correctly and you have to do it on their site. Their support team is slow and not helpful here. 2) The bouncing between all the different sites for MapMyRide, MapMyFitness, MapMyRun, etc. they have an identity issue which makes for a mess for users looking for help, support, subscriptions 3) Within the app they have identity issues where they want me to connect smart sneakers for a bike riding app. Makes no sense. They don’t know what features do/don’t belong in a riding app 4) Music shuffle doesn’t. Same songs same order every ride. The app is nicely designed and tracks well. Their MVP subscription is cheaper than others. This could be great if they’d get out of their own way. Right now it’s average as they’re unfocused.
Watch app is not done. I like the iPhone app. It works well. Your Apple watch app has several issues. I’m used to the iPhone app auto-pausing. This doesn’t happen on the watch, which meant that my average ride speed was recorded at 7.92 mph rather than 14 or so which is the accurate number if pausing had occurred. Additionally the watch-only workout didn’t sync with Apple health like the phone app. I suggest you stop “advertising” that people should use the phone app every time the iPhone app opens when it is inferior- unless you explain the trade offs.
Bike riding. I read the review that was posted on June 18 and I had the same issues that they had except that I am biking.....today I ride and I know my route is over 3 miles and it recorded 0.5 and essentially stopped recording all together except calories...I map my rides for the Children’s Cancer ride so I can post to my sponsors so sorry to say this app does not work..Never had a problem till the last month...sorry but had to rate it low and am looking at Strava
Buggy and broken. I want to like it, but it’s too buggy. It wouldn’t pair to my Apple Watch, so my rides are showing as 0 bpm and the calorie count is too low. Couldn’t export workouts to Health app. Couldn’t connect to Withings (my backup plan for failed health app sync, since Withings is connected to health framework)— the form just eats credentials and sits there doing nothing. No errors, just nothing. The app freezes and needs to be force quit if I swipe left on the “share” panel. Too buggy and my data is trapped in the app, unable to be exported. Think I’ll try a different app.
Awesome app, loved it for years. I’ve recorded every bike ride I’ve done since like 2016 on this app. Something I’ve always wished it did was automatically pause your ride if you’re at a stoplight. But that would probably be too glitchy to implement, other than making the app run a tad faster, considering how useful this is/has always been, I’d give this 10 stars if i could. Love MapMyRide!
Years logged in app. Only recent struggles. Man I have years logged into this app. I maybe had one Snafu a year, where the app didn’t log. Since the new apple os update it’s 50/50 whether or not the app will track. I have all the correct permissions set, I pay for premium, and I click the workout button and I watch the clock start. I live track so my wife can keep tabs on my whereabouts in case of a crash. But it barely works anymore . Not sure why I’m paying premium for something that isn’t reliable currently. I probably won’t change apps, I just wish they would fix it.
Sync issue. Noticed for awhile, but tired of it and reporting it finally. There is a sync issue if you try to submit your completed workout with low/no network connectivity. I have to continuously toggle between the workouts and friends feeds to try and get it to reinitiate the submission. Sometimes it’s days of trying and I just give up. Had this issue on iPhone 16 pro max and iPhone 13. Seems to be consistent but across platforms.
