Telnet Lite Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Not a good choice. I am looking elsewhere. I wanted to use this at work, but it won't even let me enter my log in.

Newest update. I did the update on the software as it showed up in my Update list and now it does not work properly. if you get the notice to update and your Telnet is working fine>>>DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway to revert to version 2.0?

I disabled auto update because of this. When I originally downloaded this app, there were very few limitations, mainly concerning which keys you could press. Then the developer updated the app and changed the limitation: the full keyboard was available, but sessions cannot last longer than five minutes. I held off updating for three months, and would have waited longer had I not accidentally hit the button. It was uninstalled in less than 60 seconds. Sorry, but I’m not allowing that.

Good for casual mudding. I mud at a site called actofwar. I tried using imud which was unreliable and a couple other cheap clients. For people who like to mud this is the best free/or cheap telnet client ive used for mudding thats less than 2 dollars. Havent tried the more expensive ones yet, but as a client this works for me.

Don't bother, this app did not. work on 3.0 and the developers don't care to fix the issue. Rate 1 to raise their attention. Since many commented this app is not working at all why app store not remove it?!

I should have listened.. Oh well. I only downloaded the free version so I didn't lose money - only a little faith in developers who put out stuff that does not work at all. Couldn't even perform one connect. Just crashes. iTunes needs to allow a zero star rating.

Works Great for UPR RP Students. I you study at the UPR in Rio Piedras, this is just great. Replacing TeraTerm in PC by being mobile.

Won't even start. I haven't been able to get past the connect screen. It's just frozen. I have updated to 3.0. So maybe it's not compatible? Either why I give it the lowest rating for not even starting. Update please!!!

BBS surfing!. I can access my BBS hobby with this app and I'm very happy it was free!

For what I'm using it for, it's alright.. I downloaded this light app, simply to try out an online MUD server. So for what it's worth, it does the job, and so far has given no back talk or nagging.

Good. Cant scroll text on ipad 2 in landscape mode Cant increase window size with text Simple, fast, stable

Great. Just what I needed. Makes the iPhone more and more like a 'full' computer for me.

Worse with every update. I first started using this app years ago on an iPhone 4. It worked great, scanned quickly, didn’t have a 5 minute limitation on the free version, and did everything I needed it to do. After upgrading phones and getting the updated app, I noticed that each update is making the app worse. The scanning feature deteriorated to a point where it takes forever to properly find a barcode. Why would they update an app that would make a newer phone harder to use than an iPhone 4? The most recent update moved the enter button and replaced it with a second, useless keyboard button. Years ago I contacted the developers about issues I had with scanning after an update and they basically said they didn’t care. If the scanner worked like it should and the developers didn’t continue making the product worse with each update, I would happily spend the $5 to upgrade to the unlimited version, but until that happens, I guess I’ll just reconnect every 5 minutes. If there was another app option, I would use it in a heartbeat.

It's not the best choice. If you want a terminal that has hundreds of libs. And a telnet cliet that actually works. Jailbrake and get that and istall the telnet package. Oh and it actually works.. And this one doesn't. Work even let me input my commands.

Convenient!. Does exactly what a Telnet client does! It's like being at my computer using Telnet from command line and might be even slightly better than that. There is some minor configuration to be done like turning on LR to CRLF switch for most telnet servers but you'll figure it out pretty quick. Handy tool for support! Convenient!

Export only exported last session used. Export broken, purchased app and tried to export and it would not export all sessions.

Excellent for "Colegio" users!. I used for "matricula" and it was great! Thanks to this I have a excellent semester.

Can’t type and bait/switch issues. Keyboard no longer works, and now I lost the ability of using app for more than five minutes. Those two issues were not there prior to updates.

Another Mocha Application. Lots of people have commented on the functionality. I agree. So let me address the support in general for this, or the paid version. Mocha has a history of dumping applications onto the market and then not supporting or updating them. The purchaser is willing to live with the problems because he presumes it will only get better as updates are released. But before long he realizes there aren't going to be any. That's what happened when I bought Mocha VNC for the Mobile Windows platform years ago. And if you look at the release dates of the their iPhone apps, you see the same thing. This app has not been updated in over a year. Really? There is not even the tiniest problem that they could address in the last year to improve functionality for their customers? Now check the release dates for similar apps. My advice it to never buy an app that hasn't been updated in the last six months or year. The iPhone market is still young and growing fast. All developers should still be in a growth phase, trying to polish and expand what they offer. Customers are willing to live with a lack of features or occasional crashes as long as they believe the software will improve over time. This did not happen when I bought Mocha VNC years ago, and I don't see it happening on the iPhone platform either. Look at the release dates for Mocha VNC, Mocha Telnet, Mocha Remote Desktop, TN5250, and TN3270. They are all a year old. No bug fixes or feature enhancements for ANY of their programs in a year? I recommend that in every category, compare to other developers and buy from whoever is actively developing.

No tab, control keys = distinct nonstarter. Since this lacks a tab key, I cannot use it with TinyFugue, which requires tabs to paginate. Likewise, I can't issue control commands without control keys. Without such vital keys, I have a hard time seeing what use a telnet app could possibly be.

Unhelpful developers. You cannot control how received line-endings are handled. I need to connect to an application that sends lf (\n) terminated lines. But, Mocha Telnet Lite (and probably Mocha Telnet) will not insert the cr (\r). This causes the output to "stair-step" down the screen. I wrote the developer and their response was "we don't do that." Well, I don't buy their products. Otherwise, the app does, mostly, what it says. But, the display is crude and the characters hard to read. Too bad there is not a better free telnet app out there, and I don't feel like paying $10 just to find another app with the same problem. I resolved my problem by creating a special account that runs the telnet as its login app, and I connect with ssh.

Nice app. works great. was able to assign the esc key to F1. Thanks!

Doesn't work. Simply does not work. You connect to a host and do not get proper prompts to log in as you do in terminal, so it's worthless.

Once great, now useless. ****WARNING - this will quit your sessions every five minutes.*** Don't bother. I was a happy Mocha user for years, and this "update" was foisted on me without warning. I will never buy a Mocha product, and will actively celebrate their demise.

Hard to use. It's pretty terrible that the return button is at the top of the screen. It really needs to be switched with the done button.

great free telnet/ssh client. Works great to ssh into home router/gateway. Even saves ssh credentials if you’d like. Nice keyboard and control key layouts. I’m impressed.

Keyboard covers input line!. If keyboard is up, the bottom of the telnet window is covered by the keyboard. U can't move the telnet window up far enough to see what u r typing. Not good for BBSs.

Barely usable. Text entry is very slow and the keyboard animations are very laggy, if this were fixed this app would be so much better. A separate input line would be nice, as would ANSI color support.

Works Great. After using the Mocha VNC app I couldn't help downloading Telnet Lite, this app just like VNC work great. I am a network admin and often require access to my cisco gear while on the road or when I don't have my laptop around and now with this app I have the missing link to become 100% mobile. I recommend this app and works as described.

Telnet Lite. This app works great for remote access via my I Pad.

Incredible App!!!. This application is awesome! I'm a network engineer and having access to my Cisco devices from the palm of my hand is an incredible thing to have, with VPN enabled off course.

Very useful. Even the lite version has proven to be an asset while needing to check progress or stability of my Linux servers. Very good app

Not good. I am finding a telnet app, this is the only free app I can find in the app store, it's not working after I download it. I am using 3.0 version.

Just would not let me configure. There is no Done button, so it would not accept my settings.

Awesome. Use to connect to a unix server at my school. It works flawlessly. If you did not know that this was unencrypted you should not be using this. Use ssh genius.

Very useful app, makes life easier. Well, maybe only if your life includes some amount of IT administration. I have been using this developer's RDP app (for iPad) for a year or two, mainly for simple WOL commands. Recently I setup several FreeNAS servers and wanted to be able to send WOL commands through an SSH Terminal to other systems on the network, from external networks. This app makes it very easy; using macros to store commands for different machines. Now, at each site I need only the FreeNAS server running, Telnet in, execute a macro and wake any other machine up. This app saves energy!

Not worth it.. This app used to be good for occasionally connecting via ssh to another host. Now that sessions are limited to 5 minutes, I'll be deleting it. Turns out there are competing apps that do what this app does, for free. UPDATE: Developer updated this app once again to hide all the recent negative reviews. Beware!

Actually works, slowly. I tried five other terminal apps before this one. None of them worked. This on runs but it is slow. If you’re using IOS then you likely are happy when your Apple device does anything so let’s call this app a win.

Capable emulation. Adds Control key to keyboard. Use Control-[ to create key for VT100 keyboard emulation (e.g. OP for F1 or PF1). Can be used in a pinch for most needs. However its a pain to use the key since it's not available on the keyboard but has to be selected from the app's header section, the same way you select the key. Should be available via the normal iPhone keyboard. Best used in landscape mode (yes, even for 80 column) since screen can't be resized or moved like in other apps.

i love it. needed ssh2 on the go. this has been working perfectly for the minimal usage i require.

Horrible. This app crashes every other time I try to use it, and I have NEVER been able to send characters to the remote machine.

Can not connect. Connects to host just fine, but you can't log into the server.

Good, but strange design decision. While the app does what it's supposed to, and does it well for the most part, the decision to make the in-keyboard button the "done" button, instead of the enter one is odd, especially considering that's usually where the enter button is located. Other than that, it is good.

Once decent; time to get rid of it. I used to use Mocha Telnet on a regular basis. When the developers, in their infinite wisdom, decided to make a 5 minute limit on sessions, that was the beginning of the end. Since then, I’ve moved to Termius and found that it does everything that Mocha does, but better. Bye bye!

Telnet. Awesome... Thank you for your creativity

Love it. It works great with my system! Recommend!

Doesn't work with OS 3. Crashes repeatedly when trying to connect to my cisco router. Needs an update because it is unusable now.

Great App. This does exactly what I needed so it's a winner for me

Playing old text games!. Downloaded this & after a few tries to understand how to get it working just right I was able to log on to a TWGS server & play Trade Wars 2002, an ancient BBS game, on my iPhone. Very happy with this app. Wish you could scroll up further!

Great. This is the Most wonderful app I have ever come across with. I was able to connect with my universitys network to do my class schedule this was very useful for me!!!

Err.... This app does nothing. Literally. If the "lite" version crashes/locks immediately after opening it doesn't really convince me to fork out for the paid version.

Great!. Great app! Works straightaway and has many options to configure and connects very quickly.

Really nice app, but crashes on 3.0. Love the app would buy the full except the lite one crashes on me after about 4 mins everytime.

Neat App. I use this to check status of Windows servers. Great way to check in less than 5 seconds if an Excahnge server is up & running with an SMTP check. Love it

Not real enough. There was up arrow, tab, or anything that a real telnet app needs. Look elsewhere if you use arrows keys, tab, or other features that are a necessity in telnet

This one works. Provides a functional terminal with 80 or 132 columns. Old dumb vt220 rather than enhanced xterm. If you need a terminal install it.

Loved it... before money grab update. Time limit makes free version useless. Takes away functionality in an update. Uninstalling now.

Not for SSH. This is a useless app for SSH.

For a free Telnet, this one does what it needs. If you need to use telnet to open a terminal to some other box and you only have an iPad, this is a good tool to do exactly what you need. The only limitations I can think of is the keyboard imposed by apple iPad that doesn't easily allow ctrl button to be added.

Great!. Works Better then I even thought it would. Great job. May concider the paid version.

Telnet. Not impressed so far - screen is garbled

Does exactly what it says it does. You can scroll the screen up/down and left/right to see text outside the current iPhone screen space which is nice because your terminal text maintains its proper line width. I wouldn't want to use it in place of a laptop, but in a pinch or for light duty this is a real blessing. Thanks!

works ok. Works tolerably well. However, the Lite version lacks the Esc key, which seriously hampers its use with a lot of Unix software.

👉 Are you looking for an Adsense alternative advertising platform?

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Great app for telnet. First of all, this is a utility. I expected it to be rudimentary. It does exactly what I wanted and needed it to do. It works on Windows servers. I love it for telnet alone! So much so, I am gonna purchase the full blown version because the guy deserves to get paid for what I use in the free version. For old school telnet guys like myself, it's perfect.

Doesn't work. ...on even a basic Linux set up with no firewall.... Can't log in.

Useless, cant type in anything. How am i supposed to do anything if none of the keys do anything?

Telnet lite. This is a very useful app for me. This enables me to connect my iPad to ham radio dx spotting network which is telnet based. At a glance it provides dx station callsign, frequency, mode of operation, be it phone, digital, code, etc. in this case the iPad is really just functioning as a dumb terminal, but the app has many more capabilities beyond what I use it for. Thanks for a good solid application.

Doesn't work. Can't seem to even get a to send to the server. Poor and clumsy implementation.

AWESOME!!!. UP THERE⬆️

AVOID!!!. Dumping this app. Not worth the hassle of the 5 minute limit, and too costly for what this app does. Look for an alternative.

Out of date. Not v3 compatible. It's totally useless, don't waste your time.

Big stick, no love. It connects to the MU* servers I want, but it won't log on, manually or with automatic logon. Basically no use for me.

Great!. It worked for me!

Great App!. Works as advertised. Thanks!

Perfect for what I need it for!. Works perfectly for my server running perl. It sends and receives just like it's supposed too.

Crashes on iPhone GS. Does not support iPhone 3.0!

No one Telnets anymore. SSH is the standard for security, I see some folks gave this more than one star, but then I question anyone who is using telnet.

Not good for telnet BBS. Needs a way to press arrow keys and a way to change font codepage.

Does not work. Login prompt is displayed but no matter what you do it does not respond to any input.

Excellent app. Good

Exile. Exile works great on it...

arbitrary time limit. Adding in a totally arbitrary 5 minute session time limit = 1 star rating

I have to pay for the control key?. This is a basic terminal emulator. It does telnet in 80 columns. • Screen shot does not match application • Enter key is awkward • No scrollback • No color or xterm emulation • Limited configuration settings per connnection. Heavy use of global settings. • No encryption of passwords, etc. (limitation of telnet)
