Huh?. So the alarm goes off if you drop it. Its not going to make it hover in midair so you can catch it before it smashes into the ground!!! But when I was walking in the alley behind my house watching spongebob, it saved my life. a man in a ski mask held a butter knive to my throat, luckily my ninja like reflexes made me flip through my 14 pages of apps and click alarm free the thug went running off in sheer terror, then i hurled my iphone like a ninja star and knocked him lifelessly to the ground and then i managed to have a cup of tea, read the paper ,call my mommy, document this in my journal, take a picture, finish watching spongebob, and call the police..... then i woke up.

Great for babys apparently. I know it was not intended for this, but my 11 month old son loves this. It makes him laugh everytime i start it, and very few things make him laugh

brilliant. I think this is quite useful. why? its a freefall detector! the thing that has always worried me about mobile devices is what if I drop it? this is an easy solution, if I drop it, then it will beep!

Choices, choices. A choice of alarms would be nice but it's still fun to freak someone out!!! But, A mugger is going to attack and you say, "you have under estimated the element of suprise!!!!!......... As you turn the alarm on and wave a $400 dollar phone in his face! Now instead of just taking your money, now he has a fancy phone. Producers, mabye it should be a silent alarm to a friend/parent/police/ECT.

Awesome. This is hilarious! I use it against my sister when she, "is doing something wrong," regardless of if she actually is, and it's soo HiLaRiOuS!!!!! LOL. Definately worth it. Unless you are someone who gets all huffy at apps that DONT NEED A POiNt!!!! I would say get this.

Fun alarm. This alarm is fun. I use it for jokes and other things. It may be a little pointless, but it is not boring.

Saved my life. Best amp I was getting mugged and I managed to pull out my I phone he got scared of the light coming from the amp and ran into a wall

This is the killer app I bought my iPhone for!. I can't believe I've waited this long, but the payoff is finally here. This thing looks sweet, and I can't wait to get it on my iPhone.

meh. I could actually see this being possiby usefull say if you didnt have a flashing light on your bike and you were riding at night....or if your car broked down and didnt have any power for flashers at night, or if you really just wanted to mess with a drunk friend...lol.

Annoying flashing red light. It seems to me that it does nothing but flashes and makes an annoying sound. I tried to pick up my phone with the application running and nothing even happened. I then tapped the screen and then the annoying noise began. Don't waste your time with this app.

Important. this is an awesome app. I really recomend throwing your 300$ iPhone at a robber if you are being robbed. I don't even know what to use it for. What's a coconut??

Useless, but.... Hey, so we all agree this alarm is pretty useless right? It's true. But given it's shortcomings, it's design is pretty remarkable. 1. Look at it. It actually looks awesome as it lights up an blinks. I've already looked around here and there are not that many apps that look even this close to good. 2. It senses free fall. That's so awesome. It senses when iPhone or iPod touch is falling in mid air. We have a 1st here. So I have to give it 4 stars for ingenuity. Now, all we need it to do is have some kind of point and be of use. Maybe a redesign ala Apple TV "take 2?"

Simple and perfect. I'm a diabetic and am always afraid I will go hypoglycemic which can cause an inability to articulate and the ability to perform only simple functions sluggishly. This is perfect to let someone know I need help without having to push a lot of buttons--just the icon. Well done, folks.

Needs to run in the background. I thought this app would respond on any drastic movement (like falling or beating off a stalker), which it does, just when its running which may not be when it drops out of your pocket. If this app can run in the background, or even somehow wake up the phone on detection then I would buy that as a safety measure since I'd hate to get up from sitting at lunch and drop my phone and not know.

So fun!. I enjoy this app. I freaked out my brother with it. It's fun if you just walk up behind a person and set the volume all the way up. :D if you tap it crazily it will beep really fast. I don't know if that's what it's supposed to do. But it's fun.

Yeah. I'm totally going to use this as self defense. I can see it now. -insert flashback here- I'm getting robbed by some guy an ms I'm like WAIT. -pulls out iphone and waits for phone to turn on and then unlocks it and turns this application on- BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. SELF DEFENCE. And then I'll call the cops after I've taken a picture of the guy with the camera on my iphone. And they'll catch him and they'll ask " so how'd you stop them?" and I'll say. ALARM FREE! On my apple iPhone. And I'll be the hero of the town. Ridding evil using my ALARM FREEEEEEEEE! ps I turned it on and touched the little thing and the sound scared me haha Very useless

Dumb app. You people seriously think this app is going to save your life maybe if this was voice activated maybe it would but as it stands you still have to spend time unlocking phone/iPod find the app and turn it on by that time the person could be gone. I don't recommend this app at all.

Works Better than You Think. you can get a lot more use out of this app if you hack your phone and get backgrounder (an app that lets app store apps run the background).

pointless..... This app has no practical real world application. It would be much more usefull if the sensitivity of the alarm could be changed and it worked while the phone was in standby. That way maybe while im sleeping at night the alarm would go off if somebody else picked up the phone or something...

Others are right. Other reviewers are right, this is pretty much a useless app, but it's pretty cool. It really works for trying to get others attention, and it's also fun. ...turn it on and leave your iPhone in a place where our friends could grab it, it they grab it quick enough, the alarm will be activated. The alarm is easily activated when you drop your iPhone too, I dropped it on a pillow to test it out : )

Hilarious. I have the itouch with the speakers, and my friends get so freaking mad when i use this. it's the *BEST*

Genius. This app is simply genius! Not only could it save your life(so i've read)!!! It lets me annoy my friends on a level never obtainable before!!

Pointless!!!. Even if it is free your iTouch won't make a sound just a flashing light so everybody pausing to take out your iTouch with an alarm its just a flashing light and with your headphones no one will even hear the beeping and the beeping didn't even work on mine. So save yourself some time a flashing light will not help you in any situtation =P. The worst that it could do is give you a seizure so you won't feel anything.

Update Request. I would like to see an update on this app where triggering the alarm also triggers the camera to start taking photos which are automatically uploaded to a pre-defined email address in the users email. This would be a deterrent to real crime. You could then turn the iPhone around and say, "Hey, this camera is now sending your photo to the police, with the gps coordinates of where we are right now! MAYBE you can get away if you start running NOW!" Hey, that isn't bad, hooking it into the GPS coordinates and emailing the FBI or local 911 offices is a great idea. See what you could do about that and you could reasonably charge 5 or 10 for this app and the world would be at your door. Keep the photos running until you shut it off.

Guys seriously stop complaning. The picture of you holding the iphone of the alarm free thing is only a SUGGESTED USE when do u actually think your itouch/iphone against a mugger hmm? Uts ab overall good app. Once i left my desk to get a book from my classroom and i left my itouch on my desk. I usually get things like mechanical pencils stolen from me, i just turned on the app and placed my iphone on my desk. Then some fat kid in my class who takes stuff from everybody tries to yank my iphone abd then guess what! The alarm went off abd the teacher made him go to the office. I was wearin those sports shorts so i didnt have any pockets, this saved my iphone!

Meh. It's cool to show people but it has minimal real functionality. It's be a terrific idea though if it was louder and worked in the background without needing to be activated every time. If it at least worked with the screen turned off. A password to deactivate it would be nice also.

Alarmingly fun!. Best application to bug anyone! It gives me a chance to let anyone close to me know I have an expensive G3 iphone and that I'm better than than they are. Got to Love it!!!!!

No sound from speacker. iPod touch, this app makes the alarm noise coming from the earphones only.. Not from the device speaker.. Hope thyr make an update..

Pretty good. I don't know why you would ever need this app, but it pretty much serves its purpose - you can tap the screen to turn the alarm on and off, and the alarm goes off if your device falls.

Slight problem.... Since Apple won't let any 3rd party apps run in the background, doesn't this mean that for this to be useful you have to have this app up ALL THE TIME? And if you do, then you lose access to other features of the phone/iPod... Like making calls and listening to music... So all in all, pretty much useless as-is right now, sorry

Horrible and useless.. If the motion sensitivity function worked, I could see some limited use for this. However, on my touch, I never could get it to trigger based on movement. Using it with manual activation is just pointless. It may annoy people, but it offers no self defense value at all. No cool factor either, so complete dud.

Quit complaining. So what if the iPhone speaker is not that loud. It does exactly what it is supposed to do: flash and make noise if triggered by the pushing of a button or dropped.

. Recent update has elevated this app to a whole new HA!mazing level. They have just added a feature that let's the alarm spontaneously alert the local police department with information about your location and your personal description! Ha!mazingI have also noticed that it comes with an option that allows you to take a picture of the asaillant without even taking the phone out of your pocket, holster or wherever else you mightve put it before the attack. To make it even more Ha!mazing, it now comes pre-loaded with pepper spray that can bring the attacker down without you even lifting a finger! Case in point: I was listening to the latest news recently on nion news network when suddenly. The news made me so sad that I started ing. I put my head between my laps and wept!. All of a sudden my cellphone let out this crazy alarm! I was like holy . What the hll! I quickly turned around and noticed a man with a  in his hand pointed to my ! He yelled! "your life or your money!" I quietly replied: "take my life and leave my money", because I can't imagine living without my freaqui money. Just as he was about to pull the trigger, there were everywhere. As he tried to run, I noticed splatter of pepper spray from my shirt pocket where my cellphone was. In seconds he was down, handcuffed and taken awayto jail! Thanks to this app! Without it, who knows what wouldve HA!ppened So in one word, this app is HA!mazing!

Ms. Review. Everyone who is writing those mean reviews really ought not to. If the designer of the app read them he/she could be really offended. How would you feel if someone was saying all if those mean things to you. If you wish to share your opinion it is always better to do it with a some tact. By the way, an app cannot be "gay", the would can only be used to describe someone/something that is extremly bright and happy or a homosexual. I'm not saying this app is useful for everyday, but it was an interesting idea. It did not interest me,but who's to say that it won't interest you. Have a lovely day!

Seruoously the drawings of a guy using his iPhone to stab the attacker is worth the dl Instead of a big red HAL light it could cammoflage itself as an empty box of cigarettes or something Instead of an alarm have "I've fallen and I can't get up" or a gay guy yelling you r soooo gay and everything turns pink and another thing I'm SO SICK of all the complainers complaining about the complainers yes that's right I'm complaining about complaining complainers

Amazing.... Did anyone mention how it looks just like an old Japanese firealarm box? Very nostalgic. I bought over a dozen apps today and I gotta say this is one of my favorites. Perfect comedy app!!

I think its a wink wink app. It's not that the program is so useful, but that when you think about it is really a hilarious in-joke. Take out your Iphone at parties and explain the app in as serious a manner as you can muster. Wait for the reaction and viola, instant comedy.

Hours and hours and hours of entertainment.. This has been my favorite app since I first got my phone almost 2 years ago.i play it all day. Its useful too, cuz I haven't been mugged once in all that time and I know I have Alarm Free to thank.

Needs more options to be useful. I initially thought this would be handy in the scenarios where the iPhone drops out of my carrying case onto the floor. The problem is that it is far too sensitive to have enabled while wearing it on your belt. It really needs a sensitivity adjustment slider.

Is it worth getting?. One word, useless. Waste of space. When will you ever need this? A mugger comes along, "Hey hold on wait, I gotta whip out my iPhone." The sound is not nearly loud enough to be heard in a crowd. The light is not visible during the day and if you drop you iPhone while listening to music you get this shrilling beep though your headphones. Useless, pointless, waste of time and space. Press "Yes" if you agree.

Can it hurt to have it?. Would love to tie this to a real alarm like if a meeting goes to long What about if you are stranded on side of road and dead battery ... Yeah I got you thinking

Five Stars for the laughs and reviews!!!!. I think the reviews are so funny, I have to check back every now and then for a good chuckle.

Definitely has it's uses.... If you can't get the attention of the bartender in a noisy bar, this app definitely does the trick. Also, if you need to get thrown out of a bar and can't, this will help.

Most useful app... Saves money.. All of our sales force company supplied iPhones are installed with this app. It has saved the company thousands of dollars in dropped/lost iPhones! The loss rate has dropped over 97%. We went from an annual rate of 34 iPhones lost to just one. The dropped phone alarm is a godsend! Very ingenius! Just read the directions and set the sleep mode to override.

What the CRAP?!?!. Great app just fabulous. My teddy bear Mr. Snuggles wasn't being nice so I tried throwing my touch at him. But unfortunatly I missed and it hit the wall my iPod got dinged up but who cares?! Great job apple keep making those useless apps!

Make sure your phone is not on viberate. Fun to annoy. Also tells if some one is moving your phone.

This is way underrated. You can put on then put your phone in a moveable object, such as a purse or backpack. That way you'll be able to tell if someone is trying to move it.

Ehhh. Who Is Honostly gonna carry the iPhone around waiting for someone to jump you do you can drop it making the little light blink?? Isn't the whole idea of a mugger to get your stuff?? Doesn't sound like a good idea to drop your phone!!! You'd be better off running!

Saved me $200!!!!!. I went out boating the other day and I happen to leave this app running until I caught a 600 pound shark in my backyard and you know what????!?? My iPhone slipped out my pocket and hit the floor bouncing towards the ocean. As it hit the floor the alarm went off and I was quick enough to catch it! My screen broke completely but who cares????? At least I got my phone. :) THIS APP IS WORTH IT 100%!!!!!

Review. It's a good idea but don't work with iphones needs a rethink, it will make a nice blinker though for your car.

Needs to be louder. I think this app is a good concept. I was searching for a personal alarm and this was the only one. To make it better, the developers need to make it a lot louder and change the sound to one of those high-pitched personal alarms. I dunno if there's a way to override the volume settings so it always sounds at it's loudest even if the phone's on silent (the way a phone's built-in alarm does). I think with this update, it could be an awesome app! BTW, I have an iphone and it works perfectly.

Is this useless?. How can this work unless the app is running and your phone never locks? After a few minutes on my iPhone the screen turns off and the alarm no longer functions. Think again please!!

It's Fun. This app works very well, but the problem is that even if this alarm goes off the thief will run away so its basically an app that has no use, but its a fun toy

No use. How is it going to scare a thief. Pointless... app. Is not even loud, plus it damages your speakers if you put the volume on max.

Well, at least it's pretty.... It's an alarm that goes off if the button is touched or the iPod shakes. Oh and all it does is flash the screen no sound is emited. Need I say more.

Not good at what it's made for.. It isn't a practical freefall alarm, as it keeps going off inside one's pocket. No, the REAL reason why you want this is to annoy people with the horrid alarm sound and flashing red light. Also, I found a glitch. Tapping it really fast or tapping it as the freefall alarm turns on makes it glitch up.

Love it. Fun to play with when your bored or want to annoy people! I love the glitch in there guys! It's funny when you tap it while its in freefall, makes funny sounds! A must have for anybody cool! If you don't like it than that's just your opinion! (you chach!)

nice. Excellent app for self defence but to expand on that function user should be able to preset a password lock, instead of the bad guy picking it up and tapping the screen to mute.

Does what it says on the box. It's an alarm. It flashes and makes a loud sound. It's a BIG RED LIGHT. Any questions? No? Enjoy. (iPod Touch users will have to settle for hearing the alarm through headphones, but that's not the software's fault.)

Needs improvement.. I would like to see this app work when the phone is locked but have the alarm go off like a car alarm. Possibly have a 30 second timer if the iPhone is touched or moved and the passcode must be entered to make it stop.

Useful. I tape mi iPhone to my door, hook it up to speakers and when someone opens the door, it makes that annoying sound.... Believe it!!

Alarm Free Amusement. Amusing and simple application that sets off an alarm if an acceleration change is detected on the iPhone. I guess you can use to see if something moves ... like if someone tries to take your backpack while you are eating lunch. For some reason it puts a smile on my face!

APP SAVED MY LIFE. I was playing with my kitten, when suddenly it pointed a gun at my head. It told me to give it my money and I freaked out. But then I remebered... THE BIGGEST LOSER IS ON TONIGHT!!! so I pulled out my itouch, opened the app and BEAT MY CAT TO DEATH WITH IT!!! After eating my itouch, I returned to painting my computer green. Alarm or dog caller??. My DOG loves it. She runs to me every time I turn it on!

The best part. The alarm doesn't go off until your phone hits the ground. Completely useless. But I will say, this app was useful when... I was going to say something witty and funny here but I just can't, this App is completely and totally useless.

Not useful. When iPhone goes to sleep, this program goes as well. If this would work when the phone was in sleep mode, and your phone dropped out of your pocket, than it would deserve 5 star. Sorry, not useful at all.

Love it. Great app!!! I use it to break the tension in the room. That awkward silence interrupted by flashing light and loud alarm sound form a bad 60's SH-FI show.

I... I love it.... I was at a bar the other day and I saw this really hot girl. I walked up to her and tried to buy her a drink but she wouldn't have any of it. So I went to the other side of the room and remembered that I had an iPhone! And that iPhone had an alarm on it! So I pulled it out hit up the alarm and she took the noise that it made as a mating call. She liked it. A lot. That's right. This alarm got me laid.

Volume. I think it should have it's own menu in the settings button so you can put it at full volume without effecting music and video. It isn't loud enough

Useless. This application was useless. There are no features with this app, it's just a simple "touch the middle to make the alarm buzz" and the alarm sound is horrible. They should have atleast invested in a cool alarm sound but it sounds like crap.

Ehhh. Well the idea is great. If it was alot more sensetive or adjustable. Also have a password to turn it off. If it's updated, I'd definitely download it again.

Rob. Yeah, it's a clever app, but when I tested it, it seems as if the attacker would either steal the iPhone, or punch it which effectively stops the noise. There needs to be a more complicated way of turning the noise off so that the attackers elbow doesn't accidently turn it off.

This comment is for useless. 1st of all the app is for u the push the button to get attention or scare off your attacker. 2nd the proper way to spell is (know) not as you did (no). BEST APP EVER!. I think the tile sums up my opinion for this app not very usefull for stopping a mugging but it can at that funny atmosphere for your every mugging need.

Seriously?. Are you kidding me with this? Maybe if you were beign mugged and you just had to throw the phone at the mugger and it would detect the "free-fall/sudden stop" then it would diall 911 and send your GPS location to the police and then spray the mugger in the face with mace and THEN handcuff them. Then it would be okay.

Pointless, but kinda cool. This app is stupid and shouldn't cost any more than $0.00. However, it is neat to show off that the iPod/iPhone knows when it's falling.

Pointless. This might just be me... but I REALLY think this is one of the most pointless Apps I've downloaded so far. I kept it for about 1 minute before I uninstalled it.

Why?. Why would anyone need this application? I tried it out and got rid of it shortly, i can honestly say i can never think of a use for this.

Doesn't scare a cat. So, I downloaded this thinking I'd use it as an irritation if (when) my cat jumps on the counter while cooking; and then maybe have it ready if I got into a sticky situation and wanted a deterrent. Nope, already uninstalled. It didn't even bother my cat.

Nice but needs work. I would like to be able to set the sensitivity level.
