A great start. This is a great start to a complicated app. This sort of software takes a lot of time and effort to write and we’re only going to get great iOS Amateur Radio apps if we supporter developers willing to take the time and risk to write this kind of software. I look forward to increasing stability and more features.

Great addition to the iPad and IC-705. I really enjoy this app. It has been solid and easy to learn. The Wi-Fi configuration on the 705 was easy enough using the built-in manual. The native FT8 system is a real bonus. Seems to work well with my Sony Bluetooth headset for SSB QSO’s. Vox or PTT. The access to the radio memories is very handy also. A very good choice !! N1GZZ

Amazing App. This goes far beyond anything I might expected from such an app on my iPad for my IC 705. Not only does it provide a full-function remote control capability, but adds other tools such as FT8/FT4, logging, Pskreporter, and more. These are functions I would not have expected. It works beautifully.

Connection drops. Ipad no longer stays connected. Constantly drops wifi connection with the rig. At times it requires powering off and on again to reconnect.

Lots of potential. I want to start off by saying I really like this app. I do a lot of portable operations such as POTA and keeping an iPad powered up is a lot easier than a laptop. I am running an iPad 2018 with latest update and the radio was an IC-705. I recently did a POTA activation where I used the app for approx. 24 hours straight using FT8. You could say I put it through the ringer. Overall, I enjoyed the user interface and how the app was setup. That being said, I found some nits that really need to be addressed. In order of severity. 1) All through the operating period, the app would randomly disconnect from the radio or completely shut down. It would often take several restarts to get it up and running again. Unfortunately, it would also clear all the data in the FT8 window. If you were in the middle of a QSO, you lose the data. For this reason, I am going to refrain from using this app until this get fixed. I turned my radio off and on and I restarted my iPad several times to no avail. The app was doing this enough to become annoying, and I did end up losing some QSO’s. 2) In FT8, the app has a pause function if another station contacts the DX first, the app waits until it hears a CQ from the DX before it will transmit again. However, other stations are transmitting their info to the DX before the DX calls CQ again, so you are caught waiting a long time while everyone else jumps ahead. I suggest the behavior be changed that the app allow transmit after 73 with a button push or automatically at CQ. Right now you can trick the app to transmit early, but it is a hassle. 3) Logging, change the auto log to log after the report exchange and not 73. It is the report that is important. What happens now, is if another stations transmits to you before 73, the app switches over to the new station, and the old QSO is lost and not logged. 4) Add at least one user defined field to the log that can be sticky. For POTA we use my_sig_info ADIF data field to record which park we are at (eg K-4450). This data field is necessary when uploading logs to the POTA portal. RumLog has a good example of this. I know this is a long review. I like this app and I think once these few issues are taken care of it will be a great app. Right now my use of the app will be limited, but I am looking forward to future versions.

The killer ham app for IC-705. Works great, awesome built-in FT8, just wish it did JS8. The Mac app is also a must.

Choppy Audio, freezes up, had to reset my radio.. The audio through the iPad on this application is choppy. If you try to tune around using the panadapter it freezes up and stops responding altogether. The software reset something on my radio that made so that my hand mic no longer transmitted audio when using SSB. I’m sure it’s some setting buried deep in the menus, but I couldn’t find documentation on it anywhere and so had to reset my radio to get my hand mic back. There’s a lot of potential here, but my radio should be returned to working condition after the software is disconnected and I shouldn’t be seeing things freeze up or hearing choppy audio. Overall, this still seems a little bit half baked. If I wanted to fiddle with flakey software, I would have just kept using my Xiegu.

Works Perfectly with IC-705 !!. I just finished a 6 day POTA activation with this app running on my iPad Mini and it wirelessly connected to my IC-705 in AP mode. The app worked flawlessly !! Marcus, DL8MRE is amazing. I did have to turn off Bluetooth on the iPad because it was overpowering the Wi-Fi signal from the IC-705. 73 NC4RA

Does NOT restore existing radio settings on exit.. The current versions of both the Ipad and MacOS apps Do NOT restore existing radio Data Mod settings on exit which changes the audio in / out paths for the radio. The authors solution is to “manually restore” the settings on the radio after exit - not a useful solution for remote use. A well behaved (useful) app WILL restore existing radio settings on exit.

Game changer. Using this with my IC-7610 and as the title says it is a game changer for me. I can now work SSB remotely without any problems! Thank you developer. Well worth the money to me.

Great Potential - Disconnect Issues plague…. Overall this is a great app and comes strong out of the gate! One thing I would like to see is an actual waterfall of which I can tap in my transmit location instead of having to input it manually. It’s just awkward the way it’s set up and not easy to do quickly or often. I’m using an iPad Pro fourth generation. I am also experiencing the random disconnects from the IC-705. It gets tiring after a while. I would hope that there is an easy fix to this. Minus the ever present random disconnects, I would give the app five stars! It’s still better than anything out there! Fix the disconnects and this is a rock solid app!

Great App.. I never sit in front of my 7610 anymore, I just sit on my living room chair and completly enjoy this app. The app is a masterpiece in programming and a joy to use. Jim, K6QE

Bit dodgy to link; doesn’t do International CW characters. Took me almost a week to get it to connect and then only direct from radio (IC-705) to iPad. All else now appears to work. At least the regular stuff. . . . But if you work CW in Norwegian, German, Spanish or Italian, you won’t get Å or Ñ out of the CW keyer. And no cyrillic alphabet either. Strange, considering the developer is in Germany. Maybe an update? . . . All in all, appears to be a pretty interesting app for armchair ops. Be interesting to try it on ARRL Field Day. ;-)

Fantastic App. I use this App for my ICOM 9700 around the house or when I’m away. It works WAY better than the official ICOM remote control software does and is more feature rich. Dual VFO Watch , for example, is not even a feature on the ICOM official software for the 9700. Great contribution and well worth the cost! This is a must if you have a IC-9700, 7610 or a 705

Best IC-705 control app. Incredible job of remote control for my IC-705 radio. Beautiful design and operation. Controls work smoothly and quickly across a network. Very happy to have this program.

More Fun than a Barrel of Patch Cords. This App is a gamer changer for my IC-705. It makes FT-8 a breeze to setup and use. Getting to lay back on my couch and operate the rig is a true blast. And, that is a wonderful thing for any operator that has serious health issues. I’m in awe of what the developer has already provided and I look forward to new additions.

Ipad Issues Resolved. Awsome App. More modes like WSPR and Winlink would be fun, or APRS. If your Ipad keeps randomly disconnecting try turning off your routers 5g radio forcing your Ipad to stay on 2g. Cheers Earl AB9TX

Buggy. Update to below. Developer responded quickly with a revision. Problem was with dual waterfall display on the 7610. Works well now. Great app! —- My original review: Shows GREAT potential but quite buggy on initial use for me.

Game Changer!. I’ve been really enjoying the Mac version of this app for several months, so I got this iPad version the moment it came out. So far I’m really happy with it. The ability to sit on the couch and pop on 20 for a little FT8 really changes the way I use my IC-705. It’s great! Having the full control of your radio from a UI like this is really an empowering experience. It takes a few minutes to find where all the options and settings are hidden (some things in ‘view’, some in ‘tools’ others in ‘settings’), but it’s all in there. I’ve configured mine to log to MacLoggerDX on my Mac as well as to iCloud so contacts go right into my standard workflow. I’ve been using AirPod Pros with good results for audio. I love the 3D earth maps for PSK Reporter and received signals. It really helps me visualize my signal propagation. Bottom line, this is a really fun app. If you have an IC-705, IC-9700 or an IC-7610, you should get this app. This app is great, but not perfect (yet). Here’s my wish list: • I’d love to see support for other modes like HF Fax, RTTY, PSK and maybe even JS8call or APRS decoding. • It would be wonderful to have a mode for operating remote for SOTA and POTA. I imagine a mode where it sense remote operation when you connect direct to the IC-705 WiFi and then it can calculate your grid square and maybe even look up your park number via GPS and log to a separate log file for that session. • I wish there was support for a physical keyer. • I really wish i could talk to other users. Could we have a Discord/Telegram/Slack/something to share tips and tricks between users and give feedback?

Excellent value and ease of setup. After spending over an hour trying to get ICOMs RS-BA1 up and running, this app was recommended by a good friend. Took less than 5 minutes and I was making QSOs using my earbuds. Not much else to say, but a good, solid, product.

Wow!. Having had it for over 12 months I find this app an absolute pleasure to use. Controlling my IC-705 remotely from anywhere comes with ease. I’m particularly enjoying the FT8 mode, with its simple layout and automatic log book entry. The map is great addition and helps visualise what the band is doing. Looking forward to seeing more modes added like SSTV. Love the tools and there are plenty of them. Next step for me is adding a bluetooth mic. There is plenty to enjoy about this app, making Amateur Radio easy.

A great app. I’ve been using this app for a few days now, and I have to say, its been getting me to use my Icom 705 a lot more. The large waterfall makes it easy to hunt and peck around, save memory channels quickly on the fly, and just jump into FT8 super quickly. It literally makes the radio “friendlier”. I look forward to any other innovations the app author may care to add (WSPR, PSK-31, JS8Call, etc, etc).
