Where Is The True Deep Black Mode?. This is more like a milky-gray mode that certainly doesn't take advantage of iPhone's deep black OLED mode. Even my older free dark mode browser supported true deep black nice. Many web pages remain white with inverted colors that are unreadable. Web pages often freeze up and I can't even close Safari. Some pages are frozen displaying a completely white screen. Why does it say "free" and "forever free" in the app store but I paid 99¢? I've since deleted Neo Noir and gone back to my older free one. This app is half baked, can I get my 99¢ back?

Won’t display on iPad. Once I reboot the extension menu appears, but after an unknown amount of time, it only displays a bright box.

Beat app for "adding dark modein Safari". I've used many similar software, honestly, this is the best, great adaptation for elements and images, and the ability to manually adjust the brightness of images.

BEST ONE YET. Used to use dark reader. Many websites would still be white. After downloading this all those websites are now dark mode! I see it gets updated regularly as well so thats a plus!

I found this extension while looking for the “Noir” extension, after seeing several positive review videos online. Works better than the others!. Neo Noir seems to work better than either Night Eye dark mode for Safari or Nitefall: Dark mode for Safari. I'm willing to pay money for this app. White screens with light grey lines are rendered very nicely in dark mode. One example is Atlassian's Jira Project Panagement Software. --Griff

Works well most of the time. I bought this app and use it on iOS and MacOS. It does its job well most of the time. But there are some websites which are immune to its magics and retain their original theme unaffected. The most annoying issue with the app it that it keeps dark mode during the day allegedly based on the OS setting of dark mode, when it is not true. It requires Safari to be restarted to realize it is not night time anymore and so disengage. The opposite is not frequent nor does happen at all. This happens both on iOS and macOS. When it works, it results in a dark mode as you’d expect with the option to reduce images brightness and easily create a list of exceptions for those websites you don’t want it to modify. Here too, it sometimes is inconsistent, as it does not recognize subdomains on certain website and you might find yourself forcing your settings when browsing various sections or pages in a top domain due to inconsistent results. Finally, it would be nice to be able to pick from a variety of dark themes. Sometimes I feel it is too dark or that we could spice things a bit with a different color pallet. Hopefully it will evolve to become better on the above mentioned issues. Anyway, the price is very fair, allowing family and cross device share (thank you!), and despite the pointed flaws I continue using it, as it does not totally detract from the general purpose of being gentle to our eyes when browsing at night.

Perfect!. Hey developer, Thanks for making a free plugin for this. You're saving the eyes of cheapskates everywhere. I was a bit put off by the security preferences Apple brings up when you activate the plugin, but seeing the response to the 1 star review on here makes sense. No way to alter page color without access to the site. You're doing God's work.

Light. Hi there's a bug when you go to google search there's a white background at the top. Hoping for a fix, i love this extension.

Option to disable extension for PDF documents would be welcome. The extension works good overall, but a fix/change to allow users to enable/disable extension for certain file types opened in Safari (most often PDF documents) would be welcome

App is not free anymore. This app was free until I stumbled upon it again, and then it wasn’t. This app is well done for free, but not a great deal if not. If you just want dark mode, download hyperweb which adds the feature (and many others) for free. That being said, it works well.

Protect your Eyes from Bright Websites. This app works like absolute magic! Every website in Safari goes from light mode to dark mode in a matter of seconds, swiftly protecting your eyes from an excessively bright screen. This app also collects no data at all and works for any or all websites in a pinch. Overall, an amazing app that makes browsing the web at night a little more tolerable.

Dark mode. So I downloaded this because the white backing blinds me. So why is your site white mode. I can’t see it to fill out the info on to it but can not see it. You offer dark mode but yet your site is not.

This is the one you want.. This is the best, most reliable dark mode extension for Safari. Period. I'd love to see a simple slider or switch that would let you select between a few levels of dark, but that's not a complaint; that would just be icing on the cake.

MALWARE. This single extension for "safari" was slowing down my entire macbook air and it's the only thing I changed. Going through a bunch of troubleshooting I found this application to be slowing down my mac and as soon as I uninstalled it, I didn't get the spinning orb and websites worked right away. Now my wife can sleep!. I often wake up at night and can’t get back to sleep. At such times, I’ll grab my phone to wind down again, but some of my favorite websites have no dark mode and the light from my phone will often wake my wife as well, not to mention hurting my eyes. Rather than wait for every web site in the world to offer a dark mode option, this Safari browser extension solves the problem in one fell swoop. Works as advertised… Nicely done!

Why does it need to read, alter and view all history?. I don’t get why this is necessary.. I will change rating later as I haven’t used it yet

Better than Noir coz it’s free across devices. The developer has made this free across iOS and Mac where as Noir you have to pay for the iOS and Mac version. So it’s no brained here. Also this one works beautiful with no hiccups

Great when it works. It doesn't switch back from dark mode at the morning for me. The newly opened websites remain dark until I restart this extension manually.

Caused my safari to be unable to open. This extension was great and darkened my pages perfectly until a few days ago when I could not open safari any more. Any time I tried to open safari, it would instantly crash. It was not until I deleted neo noir that I could use safari again.

Doesn't get better than this. Follows system mode. Perfect rendering on all websites (in my experience). No reloading of pages (unlike Night Eye), blackens already loaded pages instantly. This is the end of my search. I have found the best possible Safari dark mode extension. Thank you developer. To offer this amazing thing for free, you must have a heart of pure gold.

Great app. I was looking for an extension which allows me to get dark mode on safari and I have finally found one. I didn't really want to pay money just to get dark mode. I have finally found one that does an amazing job at converting a web page from light mode to dark. I just hope my privacy is safe because it asked for full access.

This is unique compared to others. This extension uses the Dark Reader engine which is open source. The developer should definitely make this extension open source as well! Also, I haven’t seen any advertisements about this extension at all especially on Reddit, so you should do that too!

Doesn't work and is mimicking another app. Trying to mask as another app for some sort of clearly dubious reason and doesn't work without FULL access to the browser.

Doesn’t follow system dark mode settings on iOS!. First of all, great app, especially for a free app! I use this throughout macOS and iOS and discovered that while the extension works well on Auto on macOS, it won’t on iOS. So even after the iPhone switched to dark mode on sunset automatically following iOS settings, the extension would still acknowledge it to be on daylight mode. I have to turn dark mode off and on again to enable the extension. Other than this bug, it’s great overall.

The extension is pretty good but,. I hope they add a exclusion list so I can filter what websites the dark mode is disabled in, in case something is broken, and I want to save myself a few clicks.

Best Dark Mode!. First, thank you to the Developer for making this extension, its amazing. I have a feature request, if it would be possible to exclude an enitre domain including all subdomains in one shot. Also not sure how hard it would be to detect if a site already supports dark mode by checking if it mentions `prefers-color-scheme` in any of the css

no 'off by default' mode. frustrating for a lot of websites.. This extension, arguably, works very very well. the problem is that theres no way to have it work on an opt-in basis which can make elements on some sites hard to see/interact with. I would love an option to reverse the extension from being blacklist based to whitelist based.

Kind Of Works - Crashes Webpages. This Safari extension I thought started out pretty good but it quickly became apparent that this would not work for me. Here are the reason: it refreshes, restarts and crashes any and all webpages you are on within minutes!! So if you are filling out an applications and forms or doing online college classes and tests or reading because of this extension any webpage you are on it refreshes, restarts and crashes within minutes!! I am running updated iOS software: iPhone Software Version 15.3.1 and iPad Software Version 15.3.1

Works mostly. Generally okay but some images are invisible and text remains dark and can’t be read. Had to remove app unfortunately.

Feature request: whitelist mode. Awesome app and idea. The only thing that prevents me using it is a whitelist mode. Instead of it being automatically on for a new website, then if I want to turn it off for just 1 particular website, I have to blacklist the website. It would be great if there was another mode where neonoir would be automatically off for new websites, then if I chose to whitelist the website it would remain on going forward when ever I visit that domain. Simple, affordable, useful. Enough said really. I don't want a subscription or to spend $50, I just want to be able to choose which domains are dark and which aren't. This works great!

Pretty neat! But I would prefer…. I’m pleased with this app. I like dark mode on all my phone the time and whilst it delivers, I’d prefer my safari to be light during the day, and dark at night. At the moment the change would only happen if I have automatic light to dark chosen in Settings. If the developer would add the kind of functionality where you could customise by app, my rating would be 5 stars!

Works amazing but. When you flick pages it flick's white then goes to dark mode. Could you fix that issue please? This in talking about when it's automatically dark mode. The rest is perfect!! Thank you.

"about:blank" (URL) page in Safari, remains white – AA > Neo Noir > On 'Enabled for available websites' > "about:" "Disabled for current website". Could "about:blank" page, please display as dark, when Neo Noir is set to Dark Mode, for all websites. "about:blank" page used often (unusually, for sure) – still glaring, all-white screen, at maximum lumens. Thank you, so much, for your Neo Noir Dark Mode endeavours.

Random blue tint to images. The app worked well and fine until a few days ago when it started giving a dark blue tint to images I had my finger on while scrolling. This is important since I read a lot of mangas, with loaded images of pages. When I turn off neo noir the images lose the blue tint but I need the dimming that neo noir does. Please fix this, or tell me a way to fix it.

Bugs youtube.. Bugs youtube, that's super annoying. If you open tabs in background it loads just past of the webpage in background and you need to reload it constantly.

Excellent dark mode extension. I haven't used any of the paid Safari extensions, but compared with a number of free Chrome extensions, this seems to provide all the essential functionality and is free to use. Apple's App Privacy information states that the developer collects no data from the app, so on those grounds it appears safe to use.

10/10, best free dark mode extension for safari. Basically, this app is awesome. It has everything that is int he paid apps, and makes sure the colour of links and other stuff is right with the background, makes sure images are not inverted, etc! 10/10, would definetly reccomend this app

Seems to slow down scrolling through webpages on my 2019 16" Macbook Pro (intel) - Lately, I end up turing the extension off due to the lag but it still is the best one i think.. I need to re-test the other dark mode extensions-it has been awhile. Wondering if silicon users experience the same lag or not..
