There has to be a better system.. So now the toll road is going from transponders to stickers. But they don’t tell you how you are supposed to take the sticker that affixes to your windshield and move it to a Rent-A-Car. I guess the toll authority wants to charge you and or the rental company three times as much as if you had a transponder. The only thing the sticker is doing is saving the toll road authority from having to replace batteries. Which should be part of the cost of doing business. After all, I don’t see them, lowering the cost of the toll roads. it might be best just to go back to a cash system, back when it was only $.15 per toll.

Very good once I corrected my fault. I didn’t realize I had changed by ID name and I could not get verified until I figured that out. The system probably should not allow you to the verification stage if you put in the wrong id, but maybe I don’t know why it shouldn’t.

Confusing. I find the I-Pass app and website confusing. It seems that I am enrolled in the transponder portion, which is true, but occasionally, I also seem to be charged by the plate and that does not come out of my account even though the plate is properly registered with the transponder I just don’t get it. When I tried to look on the website at pay by plate, it just pushes me over to the transponder area, so it feels like I am destined to get unpaid toll charges because the system doesn’t work properly.

Money Disappears from account. I have been having issue where I had auto-replenishing on but was being auto-replenished ($10), but almost every day even though it would auto-replenish. I use the toll two times a day five days of the week which should be a total of $7.75 but I am getting charged $30. I asked to have the auto-replenished removed thinking it would solve my problems but nope money keep disappearing from my account.

Impossible to access anything. I have a account already but was forced to make a new account under my wife’s name because I can access mine to update anything. I’ve changed my password still nothing. I’ve called to many times to count but I can never get through. So after several attempts to create a account I finally did I think. I cannot input my vehicle information right now it just keeps sending me back to the beginning of the section for adding a vehicle. I hope I can when my transponders come in the mail. I’m not one to complain but it’s been like this for years. That’s why I just pay the bill when I get it in the mail. I’m sure someone who runs this department just figures the state makes more if they don’t fix the issues because they make millions in late fees and higher fees for not having a I pass. It’s a win win for them. Just another reason how Illinois is poorly ran and operated.

Just Awful. Had to download the app because I couldn’t pick the correct end date through the website. Had to create an account because Pay-By-Plate actually means you have to sign up and give a whole bunch of info first. And apparently I have no tolls! I have a funny feeling the rental car company will make some excuse to charge me anyway, even though I did everything I-Pass asked of me. What a terrible way to welcome visitors to Chicago. This app is trash and whoever approved it should be fired. Pay-by-plate means you punch in the plate number and pay, not all of this. Tourists should be exempt so as not to turn them off from coming back. Other states do it much better, Illinois is a disappointment in so many ways.

Questions and concerns. I recently received something in the mail, and it appears to be a couple months behind and it says I missed tolls and I now owe in excess of $250. I specifically downloaded this app, provided my financial information so I could avoid any possibility of something like this happening. I don’t see why I’d pay anything considering the toll system has worked perfectly and billed me without issue. Now, if for some reason, I owe the state of IL for driving on their roads, I will pay it BUT I will not pay the excessive fines associated with it due to me not even knowing there was a fee missed. Communication. The app and the tollway in general make it difficult to communicate. There needs to be a way to message or email in times of need. I mailed my transponder in for replacement before it expired and have been waiting for two weeks for the new one with no way to contact anyone other than calling during business hours. I live in Ohio so an in person renewal wasn’t an option. Now my account says my transponder has expired but I have not received a new one. Frustrated

Far better than the website. I wish I had known about this app sooner. The actual website is poorly designed and kind of frustrating but this app does everything perfectly. **I use an I-Pass** Most of the negative reviews seem to be about the pay by plate system itself or other toll problems which is not the app’s fault. To be fair, the pay by plate system is garbage. You have to either know exactly which plazas you went through (are you supposed to write them down while driving??) or you have to wait for an invoice with a fine.

Well Thought Out App. No complaints, easy to use app with lots of information. Even includes a map of all the toll charges you’ve incurred which is a nice feature for figuring out where you got charged. Also IL tollways are reasonably priced unlike Indiana and the East Coast

Frustratingly annoying!. The app sent me a message saying that my card was declined. I added a different card, set it as primary and received another message that my card was declined (not sure if it was the new card or the previous card). I crossed the tolls twice, I was waiting to pay them both at once-maybe the app doesn’t do that. I have not seen the second one come thru yet (I know it might take some time). So I waited to pay the first one just to see if I can take care of it at once… all fine and good. Except… when I open the app it says that I have a pending charge, but if I click on ANYTHING else (like my payment options), the pending charge disappears and I cannot get back to it unless I close the app and reopen it. So frustratingly annoying!! You’d think they’d get that glitch figured out!!

Sign up with this app before tolls still got fees. I’m new to this whole Tarl thing, but everybody told me to sign up with iPads online add your vehicle and your license plate number and your tolls automatically get added I just received a notice in the mail almost 30 days after my traveling and even though the site says that it could take up to 30 days to show up on the app I was charged another $39 in fees because I didn’t pay it within 14 days told this was an automatic thing where the tolls pick up through the app and automatically charge to the card that’s on file that clearly did not happen

Multiple issues. I found out that I needed to pay tolls online for a trip through Illinois, so I used Pay By Plate and set up an account. After my return trip, I waited two days and then checked the app, but there was nothing. When I checked on the 4th day, the app said I had unpaid tolls, but I never received a notification or text. There is not a map of my route or the toll locations to review for reasonableness. I input my credit card info to pay, but the Submit button remained unresponsive. I had to open the app again, save a credit card, and try again before I could successfully pay.

Time Zone Change Flaw. Beware if you live in a different time zone! Specific time and date was entered to cover tolls for a rented vehicle. The Illinois system apparently converted the time entered, which was pacific daylight time on my page to Central Daylight time on the Illinois tollway system page. This represents a 2 hour difference. This was not communicated. So on my page 3:00PM was displayed and on the Illinois tollway page they apparently saw 5:00PM and this is what was being used by the system. The result was one the tolls incurred was missed and sent to the rental car company who in turn sent the toll to us with a hefty fine.

Trying to make me pay for tolls that it’s telling me I have already paid?!. What sort of scam is this? On the first page, it’s telling me some of my tolls are already paid and some are pending. But notifications in the app are directing me to a different Pay-By-Plate page where it’s trying to make me pay for the total of all tolls, including the ones it says I have already paid! Pretty shady and ridiculous app behavior.

Thieves. I turned on “auto replenish” to draft any time my account falls below $3.00. My current amount was $9.80 and literally the same night I activated “auto replenish” they ILLEGALLY charged my card $5.00. Again - I had $9.80 in my account balance and I only authorized them to “auto replenish” the account when it dropped below $3.00. This state is absolute garbage run by petty thieves. I will now have to dispute the charge with my bank. Needless to say DO NOT activate “auto replenish” or they will just charge your card illegally at will.

Malfunction. The portal has a great set up. Can’t get my card number correct in the AP. I’ve removed it and tried to put it back in 4 times now, including calling in twice. Card number is correct in system according to two different phone reps, but the portal malfunctions somehow and won’t allow the last digit of my number to be correct. No matter how many times I put it in as a “2”, it changes it to a “3”. SUPER frustrating. Phone rep can’t fix it. Only told they’re gonna report it. So have to call in to make money moves, cause the web portal refuses to store the correct number. I LOVE technology 🙄

Chicago needs a better (toll)way. I got burned after last year’s trip to Chicago because I didn’t know about paying the tolls online. When I did download the confusing app and (thought I) paid, it turned out I had paid on an old plate, so I was penalized with a late fee. When I finally found a telephone number to speak with an actual person and explain the situation, I was given a “grace” period but never a resolution. I eventually ended up paying the fee plus the late penalty. For this year’s trip, not only did I know to use the app, but also warned friends traveling with us about the challenges Chicago visitors face using the toll roads (which no longer have tickets/booths, only easy-to-miss/confusing signs that say “Pay online”) and reminded them to use the app. I just went on to see what I owe and the app says there are “no current charges” and that I may wait up to TWO weeks to see my charges. Unfortunately, there’s only a TWO week period to pay the tolls without penalty. So, now I wait around to see if things come through the app in time for me to not have to pay a penalty. Do better, Chicago. This system is stressful to visitors and not in the least customer friendly.

Not sure this is legit. I contacted IL tollway customer service and informed them that I made payments through the app but noticed when I logged into my account online that the balances did not match. She said the app is not affiliated with them and to only make purchases through the website as they do not have an app… I then look at my bank account and see payments to the app had a different contact number that was local while transactions from the website included the IL tollway’s customer service number. Starting to think the payments I made from the app didn’t actually go to my IL toll account.

Rip off. I received invoice for four tolls plus unpaid toll fees even though I had a registered Pay By Plate with a valid credit card number. My email account and cell phone number was on my account. I received no invoices or alerts that I had used the tollway and had unpaid charges until unpaid fees were due. Why wasn’t the tolls paid automatically with the registered credit card???? I am an infrequent user of the tollway. Your website does allow me to get a text as a reminder that I have a toll invoice.

Absolutely worst website/app ever. First, just to get an account in order to pay your tolls is more difficult and more hoops to jump through than accessing a bank site with your account info. Second, no idea how to make a payment after scouring the website, downloading the app. A simple “pay tolls” button somewhere would make life 100x easier. Worst website to try to make a payment on, this should be a very simple process

Most arcane crap app ever. First off, no guest mode, so I had to create a whole account because Apple Maps screwed me on directions and said I was on a toll free route into Chicago when I really wasn’t. All to pay a $2.50 toll. Second, no auto fill or other dynamic integration to allow apple to create a new password and save it in the keychain. Then within a minute of having to enter in credit card info for an account 3 states away a pop up asking how I like the app… so here we go.

Great experience.. No fun paying late fee. But with the app it has been the best way to avoid late fee and also don’t have to worry about any missed tolls by mistake . App is a worry free driving experience. Thank you so much IL for making it so easy to travel on your toll roads.

One of the worst apps ever created.. No way to set up iPass if you created an account using Pay by Plate. Just pure garbage of an app, pure garbage of a website. I had deleted the app from my phone previously, and now trying the app one more time made me realize that deleting the app from my phone was the right thing to do, so I deleted it again. When you have morons (likely from 3rd world countries) creating garbage apps, you get garbage products like this app. Make the app better. Make it user friendly. Make it easy to have pay by plate AND iPass. These are the basic points of creating a decent app, which this app is not!

Representative don’t know nothing. Came in the the oasis and I guess our account was frozen! I asked how much do we need to pay to get it out of that! She kept saying she couldn’t know how much we just had to make payment! So we did and now we asked again so how much do we owe and stated she wouldn’t know! I’m just so annoyed how they are really good to collect and send bills but don’t know exactly how much we owe! I’m just so annoyed how unprofessional and not knowing any information! Not only that two employees were arguing about whatever one of them did wrong! But that is so unprofessional and both couldn’t focus on helping customers!!!!!

Can’t get site nor the app to work. I keep getting notifications about owing money. Which i do from a trip last week. Can’t add my credit card successfully via mobile nor home computer. App times out just ‘thinking’ forever and home computer keeps giving red error messages when trying to add it that way. So, what else do you want me to do to pay this? Advice: set up one time payment options instead of forcing people to ‘add’ credit cards for eternity just trying to pay one simple gd toll

What a piece of crap app. I’ve tried to pay my invoice 4 times and the stupid app won’t accept my payment. Why? I don’t know. I tried to pay it the day I accrued the bill but I couldn’t pay then either. Why? The website wouldn’t accept my payment then either. The website states that I need to sign into my account to pay the bill then, it doesn’t have a way to login or even get signed up. So I get an invoice fee in the mail of an extra $18 because apparently, the state of Illinois is rather fond of billing people but, isn’t very excited about taking payments. I know high school students who could create a better app than this. Likewise a website.

No Thanks. Avoid when you can. It often processes a payment to show a positive balance and then when I go through a tollway suddenly those funds are as if the transaction never happens and suddenly my balance is negative. And if you’re negative you accrue a $20 fine per transaction. Pro tip: if you pay the fines to avoid any negative issues on your end you automatically give up your ability to dispute the fines. Paying is “an admission of guilt” so if you don’t pay it and you want to dispute the fines you have a very short window of time for that dispute to resolve before you gain another $20 fine per transaction. In short: I've never had a positive experience with the tollway.

Ease of use and payment method. I have received multiple notices in the past to inform me that I have no card on file I have had one on file since I have opened the account. I try to find an easy way to contact someone about the issue but none is provided just a long page of frequently asked questions. I tried to see if I could manually pay the amount I could not find one. Then I checked the payments and none where made it says but when I checked the tolls it says payment is pending and will be done next billing cycle so why do I keep getting notifications that I have no card on file and emails warning me I will be charged more for late fees when the charge is processing not the most intuitive system here in my opinion.

I avoid Chicago like the plague. I had to pick up someone at the airport and for a second I was lost and thought I may had gone through a toll. When I got back home I looked up your site and tried for hours to get in and see I have charges. I tried again and again.. I finally googled you and got the phone number and a nice lady tried to help me. The crap you have to go through to sign up and or cancel existing account or do anything is impossible. I’ve worked for customer service for over 20 year and this is the worse systems I’ve had to use. I rather poke my eye with a knife before I step foot in Chicago. You people already know how crappy y’all systems are. You do it to steal money from taxpayers. You should be ashamed of you selfs

Watch out for bogus charges!. I loaded and used this app once in 2021 while traveling through your godforsaken state. Paid the tolls. Worked great! Never planned on going through there ever again so I deleted the app. Suddenly, I get charged for tolls on that car that I have since traded in. I only noticed when my credit card showed a charge from the Illinois tollway. Beware if you plan to use this app once and never visit again. Remember to remove all cards and cars from the app before “deleting” the app - Thanks Apple, you can never really delete an app. Signed, A very disappointed app user

Difficult to maneuver. Forgot my transponder so tried to connect the pay by plate to my IPASS account. Been working on this for a half hour. I had to set up a separate account and the tolls still haven’t shown up. I called earlier but I think my call was dropped since I got absolute silence. I will have to try calling again tomorrow, I can only guess that they are closed.

Excellent service. I am very pleased with the ladies and gentleman that I spoke with by dialing toll-free number to Illinois tollway system. They were so kind understanding and helped me to get my account set up correctly and reimburse me for late fees. Thank you for your patience and understanding. I am excited to continue traveling to Illinois from Wisconsin and I have peace of mind knowing that my vehicle will be identified and automatic payment set up. Thank you!!

Easy to use!. Had to update my credit card in a hurry. Took less than five min to download the app, open my account and update the credit card! Amazing! Haven’t used an app with that ease in a while.

Inactive vehicles and camera adds wrong state. Past vehicles, even used within the last 30 days, do not show under the Inactive Vehicles section. Also when using the camera feature to add a plate the wrong state is detected. I selected the correct state (Wisconsin) and then moved onto the next field and took a photo of the back of the car. I was focused on verifying the accuracy of the plate numbers. What I did not realize is at the top of the form, the photo had changed the state to the incorrect state (Minnesota). I did not notice the state was made incorrect by the photo of the license plate. This resulted in a $38 fine for a $3 toll! Do not trust the app to capture the plate info. Take the save path and enter it manually.

Still waiting to receive my previous invoice. I called 2 months ago requesting access or a copy of my invoice for a pay by plate transaction and was tossed from one rep to another. Then the last one said they would call me at a particular number but I never received any call. I saw multiple transactions charged from my card I couldn’t have possibly incurred. Thank God I figured out how to use the app to monitor any transaction on my account.

Invoice. I had an invoice but it made me pay with my debit card and not the balance on my Ipass account would have preferred to use that money. Just an easier way to pay and it’s in the account already. Also find it hard to use the app after the ipass was taken out of my car took me forever to find that the charges would be added to my account because it’s associated with my license plate. Also why can’t it just take the money off the account like the ipass does I had to actually go in and pay the invoice.

So confused. Have any of the people giving the app a 5 star review activated their transponder through the app? It is impossible! First it didn’t show me I had received the transponder so I closed and reopened several times until it finally showed me I could activate it. When trying to activate I would select scan the barcode and the app would crash. After trying several times I deleted the app and reinstalled. When I tried to activate again, it asked me to give the camera permission, which I did, only to see the app crash again. I then tried activating by entering the serial manually. The first time I tried the app crashed when I tried to select my car on the dropdown list. After opening the app again and trying a second time the app just froze. Uninstall and reinstall again. Try both methods a few more times. Nothing. I mean, seriously? Is it a problem with my iPhone 15 Pro Max with iOS 17 or is there something fishy with all these reviews?

Pay by plate is not accurate and confusing. I’ve had an invoice on my account since July 20th and have tried paying it several times since then. I also have an invoice since the beginning of September. I’ve tried paying them through the app and an error message always pops up. I’ve called Illinois tollway and they told me it takes about 2 weeks before they charge your card. My September invoices finally came off as paid but my July invoices have not. I wish I could just plug in the tolls a drove through and pay for it that way like I did a few years ago.

Problematic. I have been trying to load just one vehicle/ car into the app and it just keeps spinning the wheel of not loading the information. I mean can the Illinois get this thing figured out! I mean there isn’t anything listed for toll payments when you are traveling but then we received a bill that was outrageous with extra fees. So I ended up paying the invoice and now trying to update my information into this state regulated app and it’s not working! Please get this issue resolved so folks can upload information.

License plate not found. Went on this tollway have an account and it has been over 30 days and still have not received a bill. Last time this happened, they sent me the bill in the mail and charged me with fees and other dollar amounts due to I did not pay it within a timely manner. my credit card is on file with them and they do some stuff like this that is pretty underhanded so the tollway is a nice road to drive on, but if they’re going to do stuff like this, I will avoid them like the plague in the future.

Disappointing. Great idea but the execution was a failure. Come on State of Illinois based on the amount of money your collect for tolls, you should raise your standards and have a professional application that actually works. This app is very buggy, every time I tried to activate a new tag it closed down. It would not allow me to have multiple vehicles and gave me an error when I tried to update vehicle details. Funny part is that it took my money just fine. Shocking!!!

Not able to activate a new transponder with the app. Clearly there was minimal or zero QA on the activation process in this app. Tried multiple times to activate a new transponder and kept getting “sorry, we could not activate” with no detail on what went wrong. I just went to the website and was able to knock it out with no problem. But it was a solid 45 minutes of wasted time dealing with this app, which looks quite similar to the website anyway.

It was confusing at first. (Pay by plate)Ok, so at first it’s confusing but it takes 2-3 days for the tolls to be processed and you will get an email saying that the tolls are there and you can put a payment, then I put my payment information and it took 3-4 days to process , ignore if it says it can’t be processed or paid just submit again as long as your card is there and say primary on the card you put and you should be ok. Then it’ll accept payment before 14 days. You will also get a email confirmation stating that your toll has been paid as long as your card says primary and you submit your card you should be ok but do it right as the tolls are up and ready to pay or if you start paying 1-2 days before the 14 days it’ll take 3-4 days to process that payment and it’ll be considered late and you’ll pay a late fee. It was confusing but now I know.

Please help. This is a horrible app! Last October we traveled and I had tolls I tried to pay . It always said no activity. Months later we got a bill and were charged extra because we didn’t pay on time. On Wednesday the 25th we went through 2 toll booths and tried to pay but couldn’t get the app to accept our email. Today the 29 we went through one booth and I have been trying to pay for an hour but cannot get anything to work. Other friends say they have tons of trouble too FIX THE APP

Yet to work correctly. This app has yet to work correctly. It would not recognize a pre-existing account, unless in Pay-By-Plate options (still took three attempts). It continues to load errors and re-directs me (upon login) to add a car, not a dashboard or home page. I cannot get it to stay on the homepage even when navigating back. The only option is to try to load a new car (which I don’t want to do, as I already have them registered). But even when I try, it will not process, but is stuck loading the “Submission.”

You are screwing with my account.. Having just updated my payment method, on the phone with you after several attempts to wait for a callback, sent me a letter that says my card is no good. Please get your business in order. We aren’t paying tolls to so you can harass people. Your letter says you verified with my banking institution verified that the upward was no longer valid for use. You are apparently and obviously are referring to the previous card for that account WHICH I INFORMED YOU WAS MISPLACED!!! You took my new number and then told me everything was in order. Get on the ball SUPERVISORS!!!!! ACCOUNTING AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. It’s appropriate for government agencies to return calls particularly when your message says you will call back in 24-48 hours. Called twice and signed up for the call back. Nope, called a 3rd time and finally got a person. AND YOU STILL HAVE MY ACCOUNT MESSED UP. There’s nothing wrong with my payment method. I just used it today.

App Inadvertently Changes Credit Card number. I tried to process a payment through the app and it failed, only to find out the app inadvertently changes my credit card number by one digit. It shows a different number than online. No matter if I delete and re-add through the app or phone it always shows the wrong number on the app. Called customer service and was of no help. Was told to contact them via their website with a reply in 2 business days. I did twice and and get a generic reply telling me about their terms and conditions. Useless.

Super convenient and easy to use. I love that this app is very easy to navigate. I register all my cars on the app. I’ve gone through toll roads without the transponder and I’m able to pay for the tolls easily with the app a few days later. Loading the account is super easy too.

Two Bad Experiences. I go through Indiana and Illinois once a year for a basketball tournament for my kids. Last year I set up this app since they do not do change in tolls any longer (shows how often I use these freeways). Last year I passed through 4 tolls in and out of the area, yet the app changed me only twice. Then after never showing the charges I receive and invoice with a $20 late fee for not paying the tolls they never sent me. This year I review the details for pay by plate (same method from last year) to ensure I can drive through any lane (and they will take the picture and add to the invoice). I set up a new payment method, made sure the app was active and thought I’d be all set. Same trip in and same trip out, no charges to me account. Concerns me now that I will get the same type of invoice like last year with charges and late fees for no good reason.

Print. How do I forward, my tolls to a printer?

Terrible. Doesn’t work. I got a rental and the app and then the set-up times out in a loop multiple times. Had to just drive and pay exorbitant fees because the app simply did not work.

Payment. I’ve spent hours trying to add my credit card to my account. It won’t accept my card. Very frustrating.

I can’t add a vehicle. Been tryojf for an hour. This sucks

System finally updated. Never wrote the Governor for years many login issues outdated system. A literal manifestation of 400 years this place was “great” u use lighthouse I bet underpaid but the training that’s where u wicked mf excel. Vs bothering the supervisor like everywhere else I bet these ppl are thoughtfully trained that way the leaders can MAGA march. Paid of tolls don’t use and now I have invoice again????

New update bugs. The Apple iPhone Face ID login is not working. You need to login app every time even after allowing Face ID. When I start app it shows you a selection list like I am a new used. I pick the first option and it asks if I want to set up an account. I select existing account, login (again), select yes to Face ID login (again) and finally see the origin home page of my account.

Works just fine for me. Was easily able to add a rental car to my I-Pass, update my account, see my balance and tolls crossed, and manage everything else related to my transponder and account. Works as advertised.

Horrible/Buggy/Doesn’t Work. Every time I try paying a toll, the app and website say I have unpaid tolls but when I try to pay them, they show a $0 balance OR they say “you have an unpaid toll/invoice on a vehicle” and then I click to pay and it shows an error screen and makes me reloggin. After logging in again, it does all of the same things and never works. Horrible app and is trash and not taken care of.

I use to be able to get any and all info for years, now it’s only two years??. I wish the website could give more information that was before two years, I use to be able to see all information about my account, going back to the day I actually started using ipass, it would be extremely helpful for business reasons!!

Not good.. I pre-registered my truck plate number before going into Illinois. I dropped my wife at the airport. I left O’Hare and drove back into Indiana. I checked repeatedly for any tolls that I should be paying on the app after I got back to Indiana. the app said I had no tolls to be paid and then five weeks later I get an invoice with a $12 toll and a six dollar late fee even though nothing shows on the app. This stinks of a scam by the government.

Pay. Needs to give an option to pay now, got a notification for a decline and added money to pay card but can’t find a pay now button to fix it.

Get the stickers, they are easier! Not!. So I have a sticker for my car. I go to deactivate old transponder. I get tonlart to deactivate and I get an error message to try again. The tey again could go on all night. Then I try to unassign vehicle from old transponder and guess what? Same error. That go on forever too I feel. So now I have a sticker that is active and can’t assign to the car its in because that car has an active transponder that needs to be deleted. What garbage!

Ill. Tollway Payment plan….. This app makes it easy to pay overdue tolls; even offers a payment plan. I let someone borrow my car who ran up a bunch of unpaid tolls without telling me. Now I’m stuck with paying the tolls!!! Payment plan made it easier for me. 😉

Garbage app. I went through the toll over a month ago and it still hasn’t updated. I wanted to just pay when I was going through but that wasn’t an option. No customer service number, what a joke. I just want to pay and be done but they make it so difficult so they can fine you extra. Also the remember me box to stay signed in doesn’t work either. If I could give this app 0 stars, I would.

Good at first. Was good at first my tolls were getting paid automatically, and then out of nowhere I had to do it manually long story short I paid 3 times for the same toll way and it still doesn’t want to go awayyyyyy but yeah they took my money happily. Very disappointed they didn’t even send me a receipt which they usually do right away. So now I have to contact my bank and told them that the app STOLE FROM ME thanks a lot

It would be nice but does not seem to be working. It’s a nice idea but my tolls do not seem to have been captured, so there’s no charges. The credit card reader function did not work at all after trying three times. However taking a pic of the back of my car successfully captured and entered license plate, make and model of car so that was nice. I just like to pay my way and so maybe the tolls will show up in the next day or two.

Seamless. I already had an iPass account, downloaded the App, logged on, my credit card, balances and personal information showed up immediately. Have no issues or complaints with the App.

Confused.. A few weeks ago the website said they were replacing transponders with stickers for the windshield. Now I’m looking at it because I was going to go to the tollway office to get the stickers. Now the website says nothing about that. I live in TX. Because I spent most of my life living in IL and my family is in IL I use the Ipass. I’m in IL now. I want to get it taken care of while I’m here. I’ve been under the impression that the transponder will just stop working

Poor App. The app does not list transactions with easy to tabulate fund balance sheet. I believe this is done purposefully so tabulating actual tolls becomes so cumbersome. Errors have appeared, they should never happen with today's technology. When I had a rental, I unconnected it from my account, but the app reconnected it to my account when there was a later toll unpaid. That was not my toll. Really have to watch and complain when things aren't right.

The worst app on the planet. This used to be such a simple service where you typed in your plate and paid for unpaid tolls. Now they make you create an account and go through endless, unnecessary steps. The app is a disaster. Fields don’t auto populate, error messages pop up continuously and it takes forever to process simple stuff and eventually takes you nowhere. It’s pretty clear they make this impossible so you have to buy an I-Pass

Not working. For some reason the app isn’t matching the website. I have a different amount on the app versus the website and that’s rather frustrating because if I solely based my money on the app then I would think that I was fine…but according to the website I need to replenish…what gives??? Fix this please!!!

40 years IT experience this is a very well developed app. As a 40 year IT and cyber security professional my opinion is that Illinois or whoever they’re contracting for this app have done a great job! Very convenient. I wish everybody much peace and success. 🙂

Login broken. App is absolute trash. The basic functionality begins with login. However, it never accepts the password on the first time and requires additional attempts with the exact same information before it logs you in. Then whenever you close the app it forgets your account. If you make and prefer people to use an app for your services the least you can do is make the logins functional and consistent.

No Adjustment Option To Show Car As A Rental. I opened a pay-by-plate account for a rental. For some unknown reason, the car showed me as the owner. I tried to adjust the status enter an end date, but could not. Now I am constantly getting emails requesting me to enter a payment method and warnings of unpaid tolls. I have a receipt for the tolls I have paid. I have no idea how to make this stop! Maybe I should just delete the account.?

Switching from Pay by Plate to IPass. Has been a very poor experience. Originally just payed by plate, which takes too long to process any fees to display on the account when I attempt to pay for them. First it shows I have no tolls to pay, the weeks later receive an envelope in the mail saying I’ve got to pay a fine for late payment. Next, I purchase an ipass transponder and have made at least two or three phone calls attempting to resolve the issue to switch my account to ipass without success. Lastly, when attempting to log in to the ipass app it states it recognizes my account is pay by plate, then when I click the button it states my account is closed.

Frustrating and erratic app. Why isn’t there a sign in option on the very first screen? When I do find the sign in option it takes me to the screen for creating a new sign in instead of to my information. A menu option would make it easier to navigate. I’ve also found that after closing the app and reopening it takes me back to my last screen and not the main menu nor log in option.

Transponder Expiring. What can’t I find the letter saying I need to swap out my current transponder for a new one when using the smartphone app (for Apple)? When I login to the website on Safari on my smartphone it says click her to download said letter but nothing happens when I click that Download Letter link??? What the heck? Guess I’ll wait for the snail mail letter to arrive. 🤨

Doesn’t work. I have added my cars in my account through the browser so I think it should reflect in the app too as it’s the same account I use to sign in. But none of my cars are listed in the account when using this app. I tried to add my vehicles several times over several weeks in the app but keep getting an error message asking to try again later!

Absolutely worst website/app ever. First, just to get an account in order to pay your tolls is more difficult and more hoops to jump through than accessing a bank site with your account info. Second, no idea how to make a payment after scouring the website, downloading the app. A simple “pay tolls” button somewhere would make life 100x easier. Worst website to try to make a payment on, this should be a very simple process

Nice Overview Of I-Pass Account. It’s nice to finally see an an for easy management and overview of my account. Developers, would love for the app to send iPhone notifications when I go through a toll and also when a replenishment payment posts.

Cannot filter activity by transponder. I can log in and display the usual information, such as transponders, vehicles, and activity. However, the web app allows me to filter the activity list by transponder number. I am unable to do that here. I can only filter by agency, which is of little use to me.

Easy!. I had an account and the app is way easy to use and really useful. It’s better then going on the website and look at everything.

Find out when Transponder isn’t registered. Nice to see when transponder doesn’t get registered and I am charged $5.50 instead of $1.18 Wish there was a way in the app to say I exited the toll. Using my phone camera or even gps

Update the app and website Please!. This app needs to be updated and managed better. You cannot see your recent toes via the app nor are they updated on the website. If I click on to replenish my transponder if I fall below $10, it does not automatically replenish once it has reach less than $10. I recently went through the tolls, Plaza 48 and 38 and I cannot view any transactions especially since I was in a loaner car from the dealership.

Wanted I pass got pay by plate instead. I have had an account for years after a divorce. I’ve been having issues using it. I thought I set up a new pass account, but I just found out it’s paid by plate which has a much higher rate and now I am trying to set up a new iPad account and it keeps sending me to pay by pay option and will not allow me to set up my,Ipass!! I have a $200 balance and should be no where near that amount. H.Wilson

They charge more than they suppose to.. I had a really bad experience with my ipass acct they been charging too much and when you have the autocharge on they process the payment more than one time amd they don’t give the extra money that they charge you !!!!! For example i had my auto replacement on and they charge me $20 seven times in total was $140 but in my ipass account i only have $22 thats not right !

Good first cut, needs some work still. Solid effort, clean UX. Hopefully more refinement iteration over time. Consider dropping the security question for passkey support. Maybe support providing account info from another toll authority for pay by plate billing instead of credit card for transponder misreads/misses. Looking forward to improved versions!

Tolls. Very confusing to drivers unfamiliar with the protocol. I kept looking for a worker at the tollgates, but then realized there was nobody there. I tried to make payment online two days later, but there was no record of my plates. I’m trying hard to avoid a fine, but the system is frustrating. Illinois and West Virginia are the only states among the six that I traveled through that have toll on their INTERSTATES, but West Virginia at least has toll keepers to assist drivers. I hope I never have to be in Illinois again!

Absolute Illinois Trash. Downloaded this app and set up the pay by plate feature to pay my tolls. Over 30+ days the app never registered any activity so I was unable to pay the tolls. Instead I received an invoice and fine in the mail for $19 in tolls and a $33 fine. I have since uninstalled the app and will do everything I can to avoid that Illinois pit again. I only gave one star because I am unable to give zero stars. Don’t be fooled you will get burned.

Nice Interface!. App is clear and easy to Navigate. I had no issues updating from my old windshield mount transponder to the sticker version! All went smooth. Nice job to the Illinois Tollway Authority!

Excellent app; simple and accurate. I use this app only a couple times a year, when I have to drive from Michigan to (or through) Chicago.l for work. Don’t have to worry about missing tolls. Also, app is well designed.

Never can pay until an invoice. I have my pay by plate set up. Twice now I keep checking after using the toll road for an invoice on the app. Both times nothing showed up on the app to pay but an invoice comes in the mail with a late fee. The second time I even received an email with a mailed invoice. Clearly the email address was taken off the app so why don’t the invoices show on the app so I can avoid late fees?

Easy Download. I already had an account with password so downloading this app was very easy. My auto payments and credit card on file were automatically downloaded into the app. Thanks!!

Scammers. This app is a piece of crack. Literally scammers. First charges you for both transponder and plate. And then you get random late fees they never told you about . Then your transported is suddenly out of nowhere is not assigned to your vehicle anymore, thus they have been running through your funds and double charging you for every trip just because the app somehow decided to not assign the transported to me . So stupid and waste of money and resources

slow, unreliable payment information. it takes a while after you post a payment to your ipass for it to actually reflect on your account and deductions under the “activities” tab are 2 weeks behind so it makes tracking very difficult. it also will give you false notifications that you have unpaid tolls on your vehicle, and the notification will pop up in the app after every time you switch which page you’re viewing. mediocre app at best. 2nd star is only for the convenience of adding funds easily, which again, takes days to reflect on your account.

New Credit Card. Your lady who returned my December 16 call was polite and friendly and especially professional. My credit card got hacked so I needed to put in a new number. She fixed it right away. Thanks for the excellent service. Dennis Cripps, Colorado.

Confused. Payments and balance and deduction are not clearly mentioned. Please mention ‘paid’ in front of every entry. Can’t figure out which is paid and which isn’t.

Excellent. Takes advantage of latest technology. Way better than having to slow down wait and no worries about not having enough cash on hand.

Manolito Evangelista. Pay by Plate & IPass Transponder must recognize if the car is equipped with Transponder or not & must have only 1-account to make transactions for payment in the Tollway app. Currently I have to set up 2 accounts, 1 for a pay by plate & 1 with the IPass transponder Not a friendly user app too

Disappointed. The IL Tollway website is antiquated making it barely useful to users. For example, we changed a license plate on one of our vehicles, and there's no way to edit it. Also, when switching between Applications on the website, you're required to login each time. It appears most resources are directed to the IL Tollway app. Please improve your website.
