SponsorBlock for Safari Comments & Reviews 2026
Love the extension but....it's 100% free!!!. I feel a little duped by Apple since this 100% free, open-source code/extension is being sold for a profit on the App Store. Now, I'm happy to pay for this product, especially since the developer will get something. I've supported alot of small-time developers in the past for creating and sharing some rather nifty apps. I just strongly disagree with the way Apple has monetized this BROWSER EXTENSION and will ultimately reap some profit. Hopefully Ajay gets more than 50%. I bet you can even find it by searching under your browser's extensions....Anyways, awesome little extension that ACTUALLY works and I love the crowd-sourced aspect of it.
hmm - youtube ads are still there.. not what i was expecting.
Great but not as good as the desktop version. The desktop version has support for 3rd party YouTube clients like invidious. It would be nice to have that, other wise it’s good: just do the setup and it’s great.
*Update* Hit or Miss. Update: looks like a ton of issues were fixed including the issue I posted. Changed review score to reflect that. It used to work in Safari (not the YT app) but it seems a month or so ago it’s definitely hit or miss, with more misses. If you watch YT in portrait mode it seems to pick up the sponsor segments but if you start a video and immediately go full screen landscape it doesn’t appear to detect the segments. You’ll need to open the settings in the address bar and refresh it so the video is detected and segments get picked up. Weird since I swear it used to work and it’s solid on MacOS…
Stopped working on mac safari. It was working earlier today. I went back on an hour later and no segments are showing up whatsoever
Essential!. Massive improvement to the YouTube viewing experience. With how constant and intrusive advertising has become online, it's a releif to see there are ways to push back.
I won't go on YouTube without it. Honestly, this is a really good extension. I don't write reviews much but this developer absolutely deserves it. I pay for YouTube premium but hate sponsor segments in the videos. This absolutely that one last annoyance 10 out of 10 recommend.
Stopped working weeks ago. No longer works as of December 2022 on the mobile YouTube site as Google changed something on their end and this app is yet to receive an update, do not buy.
Great app. I encourage you to purchase it.. Although it doesn’t work on the YouTube app, I’m more than happy to use YouTube on Safari. It’s so satisfying hearing YouTubers getting interrupted thanking their sponsors and I hope more people use this app, so we can put an end to YouTube sponsorships.
It Really Works, no more boring sponsored ads!. Recently YouTube Premium raised their prices up to 18.99 per month, and for that price I am sick and tired of having to hear these sponsored ads within the videos, so I thought I would buy this app to see if it works and it actually does. Love it, everyone should buy it. It really does work.
Unfortunate bugs. At one time this extension used to obey the "Auto Skip" setting, but nowadays — and for the last couple of months — it doesn't. The sponsored segments are marked and identified but none of the skipping ever happens. And it's not just sponsors: intros, like 'n subscribes, and all the other crud no longer auto-skip. It's funny because according to the markings the program recognizing these segments. It just... doesn't skip them any more.
The same sponsorblock you know and love. As someone who has skipped hundreds of hours of sponsors on chrome and firefox im perfectly happy to pay the devs 3$ in exchange for their continued updates. Keep up the good work.
Can’t get it to work on an iPhone. I don’t see how to enable this plugin on Firefox on an iPhone. No help at all! How do I get a refund?
Best extenstion ever. I've been using SponsorBlock on my other devices for a while now & can't imagine watching Youtube without it. Best $$ I've ever spent.
Pleasantly Surprised!. I was skeptical this would work on mobile especially when there were only a couple reviews but it works perfectly just like on my desktop browser!
Same extension you love on firefox/chrome etc. for anyone wondering why this is paid, its because apple charges $100 to publish apps on the app store, of which the developer is only getting 50% of. ajayy definitely isn't a making millions off this, blame apple
Amazing extension. My favorite thing to do is to check to see just how much time of your life you’ve gotten back from all the segments that you’ve skipped
Finally, the holy grail of YouTube watching experience!. I’m so glad that SponsorBlock is now on iOS, and it’s such a godsend for what it does! A few annoyances/comments to the developer: - the settings seem to get “wiped”/reset every now and then, and I have to set it to the values I want again and again. - the app is missing features from the desktop plugin, in particular the ability to enable sponsorblock for invidious instances
This is great. I love it
Works just like the PC version. I was surprised to see it for $10 and not free like on desktop on browsers like Firefox I use it so much that it didn’t matter to me I know the usefulness of it outweighs that price point with this combined with an adblocker it makes the YouTube app useless to me definitely a 5/5 if you use YouTube on a browser
More Customization, please. (Or more apps?). I am very well pleased with this extension. For the developer that made this on Desktop Browsers both Chromium and Firefox based. I usually use Firefox Focus, Brave Browser app, or the YT app to watch vids. I would have deleted Safari if I could. But now, thanks to both his sponsor blocker and my new ad blocker (thankfully works and was a OTP app, unlike AdGuard), my safari app finally has some value and purpose added to it. It doesn’t seem like there is a way to submit sponsor segments on IOS, which is reasonable. However that is not why I give this 4 stars instead of 5. I’ve wanted this on the original sponsor blocker for desktop, there is an ability to whitelist channels for all sponsor segments, but is there a way to whitelist certain channels for certain types of segments. For example I like watching the intro and outro of Game Grumps but not for SomeOrdinaryGamers. Would it be possible in the future to have the option to whitelist GameGrumps intros but not whitelist intros for another channel? Of course I don’t just mean for only intros, but to have the ability to whitelist a certain types of segments for one channel but not another. But also, my second grievance is that sponsor blocker is only available for safari but not for the Brave Browser App or Firefox Focus App which have built in ad and tracker blockers. Would it also be possible in the future for sponsor blocker to be available for those apps? Regardless, I’m very grateful that you made an IOS port at all. I’m gonna recommend this to my family for sure. Keep up the good work!
Works just as expected. It does what it says on the tin. Good extension.
Amazing. It makes watching yt so much better
it works when it wants to. sometimes it skips, sometimes it doesnt. the green bar on the seeking bar is there but sometimes it just plays like normal. ive noticed toggleing "skipping is enabled" off and back on sometimes fixes it for a couple of videos.
Don't forget to change macOS Safari Settings. Just installed the app and it worked on the iOS Safari browser but I couldn't seem to get it to work on macOS Safari. Turns out you need to go into the website settings on Safari and 'allow' it access to all the YouTube related things.
Heck yeah!. New support for invidious just dropped! Thank you SO MUCH for responding to feedback from your users and implementing this feature! This app is THE BEST.
Works perfectly. Works just like the desktop version. Highly customizable settings so you can tailor it perfectly to your preferences. $3 is a great price to get rid of the annoyance of sponsors. Highly recommend
Works great on iPhone!. Thanks for making this available on iOS. It works flawlessly on the iPhone. I’ve also installed this on my iPad, but it doesn’t seem to skip the segments. Is there a fix or workaround for it??
Absolutely worth the cost. Yes I know it can be retrieved for free but Apple are not kind with their $100/year fee, so for how much I use this program I'm more than happy to have paid for this addon for the about of time it saves me.
Wonderful Extension. I remember when browser extensions were cool, I'm talking back in 2006-2012. There was an extension for everything! Nowadays, browser extensions are boring, lame and many are not even worth it at all. Even userscripts are so underwhelming now. This extension is actually something different, something that you must have. I've been using the free version on Windows for a long time, but since I got a macbook, I was happy to see the extension on Safari which has become my favorite browser. Thank you for developing this must have extension!
Total scam. Don't do what you're supposed to do, don't buy it, don't spend your money on this.
doesn't work on ios. It will always say no video detected, ive checked the settings and enabled the extension in both settings and safari. But it doesn't seem to work.
No buttons please!. Jesus why did you put these annoying green buttons next to the title of the video? I don't want any buttons. These need to GO! Immediately!
Works. Been using this for a while on Firefox, glad to have it on Safari now. Works as expected!
Thank you for doing this. I've used this extension for quite a while on Chrome and can confirm that this version works on Safari. I'll gladly pay a couple of dollars to not have every other video I watch imploring me to smash the like and subscribe buttons.
Youtube without the fluff. This extension does what it advertised. Right now with the limited number of submissions people have provided it's only best on some of the most popular videos but I have been able to see it at work. So far so good. One thing I want to mention is it only skips sponsorships by the fall. You have to go into settings to automatically skip intros, self promotion, and other annoyances throughout the video. Just go ahead and turn them all on. I did have issues submitting my own. I kept getting an error saying that user ID not found. But after quitting Safari a few times and using Youtube for a while it just started to allow me to submit timestamps. I have no issue recommending the one dollar for this app. Hats of to the dev.
Amazing app. Works flawlessly. Love it
Doesnt work with vinegar. Doesnt appear to work with vinegar extension
Works great on YouTube, not so much on Invidious. While the Firefox version is able to handle both Youtube and the Invidious frontend, this version can't seem to reliably pick up Invidious instances or even remember that you've asked it to work on 3rd-party Youtube front-ends. That said, if you're just looking to cut out the crap in your favorite Youtuber's videos, Sponsorblock is great.
Works Just as Advertised. It’s great to see the developer of one of my favorite desktop browser extensions wasted no time porting it to Safari on iOS. It’s clean, functional, customizable, unobtrusive, and reasonably priced. While there are still some limitations (e.g., only works in default Safari app and not other browsers or WebViews), these are restrictions entirely on Apple’s side. I have little doubt this will be updated as soon as Apple unfurls their belated extension API at whatever glacial pace suits the world’s first $3 trillion company.
Can overdo it sometimes. This app works great…but also can go a bit overboard. I notice I’ll open a video and it will immediately skip halfway through the video! If it keeps up, I may just uninstall it, which is a shame, as I did pay money for this app, as I thought it well worth. Update: now it’s only blocking some sponsor ads, not all :( Update (Jan. 27, 2024): blocking more ads, but always messes up with YouTuber James Hoffmann. Upon clicking on the video, it will 100% of the time jump 3/4 of the way through the video. February 8, 2024. Deleting the app, way to inconsistent. It’s nice when it works though :(
Works, but…. I would love to see this working with Invidious as well, seeing as there aren’t really any viable open-source YouTube clients on iOS.

Worth it. This works well and saves a lot of time, helps maintain focus. The only downside is that if you watch something that is recently released it may not yet have skip sections added.
Time Saver!. I already have Youtube premium but this helps skip through opening titles, sponsor messages, and a whole load of rubbish. Saves a lot of time and youtube is dream with this app. Thank you to the developer for making this amazing app!
This app is great. This extension is good. Works nice on my pc and its nice on here, its worth buying. If it was free like on pc it be good but $5 is ok ill still get it.
Needs more browser support. Edge for iPhone with its bing chat support is a must have, so it would be good to be able to use this extension on Edge, and probably Chrome and Firefox too.
Poor. Does not work when initially opened. Poor instructions on how to make it open and operate.

So good, I want to switch back to Web on iPhone. This extension + dearrow elevate the YouTube viewing experience so much, that I've slowly started to switch back to viewing on the Web even on iPad and iphone. Truly great work here, and we'll worth the couple of bucks cost. If youtube premium gets another price hike, I'll probably switch over to this for mobile viewing full time.
Great. Use it on desktop and it works great here on iOS safari too
Finally for Safari!. This is one of the most useful extentions that there is, and I'm glad it's finally available for Safari. It just makes YouTube *so* much easier to watch. Not being innundated with baked-in sponsor ads for crap like Raid Shadow Legends has made my life much better. This review brought to you by Raid Shadow Legends.
Works better on mac. The iPhone app has a tendency to overheat the phone. It only activated maybe 80% of the time so sometimes I would still see sponsor messages. I ended up turning it off on iPhone but it works well on mac.
Doesn't work anymore. dunno what happened, but the extension doesn't do anything anymore
Edit: Problem resolved.. Edit: Problem resolved. Checked the settings of my YouTube app, browser app, YouTube setting within my browser and couldn’t find any way to turn this on as stated when you pay for the app. Still got sponsor adds in YouTube. Total waste, would not recommend. 🗑🗑🗑
