scratches the itch, but lacking. i have problems with petting my nichelings so much, especially when im selectively breeding them so much especially when finding new genes that theyll end up thrown out or retired before they could start benefiting me, that and i just have arthritis..so… yeah. You can also get abit soft locked if you level up an area too much that your nichelings cant even get food from it, like i managed to get level 20+ nichlings going on the first island, i have the frost island now but now i just have my forest island nichlings running through level 0 island area for food because its just more profitable than the high level biomes but, all that aside ive been opening the app and breeding more and all for days since i bought the app, and it had me revisit the pc version that is just far superior quite abit. Unrelated but im also a big fan of wandering village too lol, i hope if you guys made a mobile version for it aswell after finishing its development that itll be more true to the original if not just a nice direct port unlike this app, which is still nice atleast, and i hope it can get some tlc some day

What I think about niche. This mobile version is really good but I am seeing some glitches. My only suggestion is that you can choose other mutations for your nichelings instead of in hansing them. But overall this is buy far my favorite game.

This is super cute. I just wanted to do another review. The cutest things: if your nicheling has shortsighted eyes it’s eyes wil be a little higher. If you have a platypus beak (dominant) it’s super cute. BUT the survival and strategy game is a little more fun.

Been waiting for this!. So, I’ve always been interested in games invoking genetics and survival. When I found Niche for my computer I instantly fell in love and it became one of my go to games to relax. The only thing was I remember wishing they had an app for casual play on my phone. Look no further, it has arrived!

Great game!. I have Niche on nintendo AND on the ipad now! I like this game but I don’t know how to pet the nichelings. It doesn’t really work. But I think this game is great! But where did the immunity and fertility genes go? It is also kinda complicated to use the mutations, But other than that I rate it 4 and a half-5 stars! Great game and I love Niche! This game is really fun, just a segestion.. You should make the gameplay more like the original niche, because i would love to try hunting bunnels and escaping bearyeanas on mobile where im more experienced. This would be a really good addition and would maie this game so much better! If you cant change this game, make a new one with normal niche controls, please.

Great game. This is an Awsome mobile game. Would love to see more updates adding new game mechanics or different gene possibilities . Would also love to see more space added for new animals. Note- yes this game is not like pc niche. But for the mobile version I think this is a great game and worth investment

Amazing! But…. To start off, I love this game so much! I don’t have steam so I saw this and HAD to buy it. I read that it focuses more on breeding, and less on strategy and fighting. (and whatever else it said) I appreciate that you made it that way but I truly like the PC game more. Though I can’t play it on PC I do watch other people play it. I must say my favorite part of the PC game is that it is 3D, let’s you have a sandbox mode, and has so many islands you get to choose from! But this version of the game does not have that. It is more childish and watered down then the PC one. I loved that the original game had to make you use your mind and much more. Perhaps you should add a button where it makes you go to a more strategized version of the game. With another button to go into more of a breeding version, like this one now.

cute game with nice style!. I adore the first / original Niche game so I was delighted to hear that this game was out! if you enjoy pet sims or breeding sims this will be right up you alley. I really like the stylistic direction in this game as well. all I can say is I hope there’s more but I’m happy with this!

Great game!. This game is really fun. You breed your nichelings to be able to gather food successfully from the food mini game. The difficulty slowly rises forever and you just keep breeding stronger and stronger nichelings to compensate. I now try to breed for specific colors and patterns while continuing to breed their stats higher. I just pop in anytime and set up the next breeding or gather some food with the mini game. I like how respectful the game is of my time. The only downside is the devs have not released new content for it in a long time. Since it is pay once I think they are not financially motivated! However I would gladly give them my money if they offered an expansion with some additional islands and new genetic traits.

Unstable game. I really wanted to like this game. Unfortunately, after 2 hours of playing I've run into frequent crashes; worse, this would often cause it to lose progress on leveling up the biomes, making an already grindy part of the game even more obnoxious.

Great potential, needs balancing. This is a really fun game about managing your creatures genetics, but right now it is a bit buggy and feels very unbalanced. You have to do a lot of selective breeding in order to get the stats to progress, which costs a lot of food. The problem is that it takes a long time to get food because you can only really farm the starting area when you get star-locked out of the other areas. This starting area only gives a small amount of food and doesn’t increase despite your breeding costs increasing. As a result, the game feels very Grindy and that grind just gets worse the higher you progress as breeding costs rise faster than you are able to gather food and unlock new areas.

Fun but needs QOL upgrades. I’ve been playing this for several days and it is fun, but I am frustrated with trying to keep all of my breeding goals straight to unlock new levels. There are a few easy quality of life updates that would help a lot. 1. Tell me the parents of each nichling. Since it takes time for pregnancy, I sometimes lose track of the breeding and it would be helpful to have that info. That should be easy to add. 2. Allow me to move nichlings to different positions within an island. I would like to organize them by biome to make hunting and breeding easier. 3. A little harder, but it would be nice to have the notebook update with previously discovered dominance relationships. It is hard to make breeding decisions without having this recorded in-app. I am enjoying the game, but would love the chance to enjoy it more 😊

Hi for devs. Hi I’m 14 and I love the game it works great and I’ve always loved niche but I’m at the snow island and I would love if you added more biomes like the swamp or water biomes but other than that I love this game and the non mobile version thanks

Lots of potential!. This game has so far been very fun and rlly addicting lol however.. There are a few things that i'd like to be changed number one being. there's no family tree, making it easy to inbreed nichelings For number two, traits don't have multiple uses. I am only on the first island, but i've noticed that all of the traits on my nichelings don't have more than just 1 effect. I personally think that traits like horns and the boar tusks should be able to be used for something like fishing.

Fun and easy to learn!. This game is a great time killer. I love Niche Deskop, and I have over 350 hours in it. I wanted to try this game out, and donate to the developers. I hope you add more islands soon! Like a jungle island.

My thoughts on “Niche - Breed and Evolve”. My initial review didn’t save, so I’ll do my best to recreate what I wrote to the best of my ability. Niche - Breed and Evolve is a mobile version of “Niche - a genetics survival game” but in this version it’s more so focused on the genetics aspect. So far I’ve been able to collect Nichelings, explore islands, and breed. I’ve been a fan of the Niche franchise since before it’s full release, so I know the mobile version has loads of potential, and has the ability to become more immersive as time goes on. Therefore I’m giving it 5 stars, to inspire further development. I recommend “Niche - Breed and Evolve” to anyone that loves cute animals, biology and genetics. From what I’ve been told Stray Fawn studios has lots of plans and ideas for the game, but in order to implement them, they require further support. So please consider trying it out, so far I personally have enjoyed every bit of it! Before I leave, I want to thank the developers for everything they’ve done to make Niche what it is today, and congratulate the on the mobile versions release! :)

Different Game Entirely. I really wanted to support the developers and love this app. However, this app is totally different from the PC version. There is one foraging mini game and it is repetitive and boring. There is no exploration nor family trees nor death nor blood types nor what made Niche unique. The genetics are really dumbed down. This is a pet owning game geared towards children. I would not have paid three bucks for this app had I known what the gameplay would be.

Visual Glitch?. I love the game! I just want to tell you that there is a glitch with the paws of baby nichelings. If the baby has one no paw, then the no-paw doesn’t show up, visually anyway. Let’s say that your nicheling has a berry paw and a no paw, well both paws would show up as berry paw, the only way to tell is to go into the genetics.

Not enough mutagens. I was enjoying my way through this game thoroughly but I found that there’s very minimal chances to earn mutagens which are basically a tool to add to say a strength mutation to make it stronger for the requirements in biomes. My issues is that the biomes progress too quickly in requirements for the nichelings but there are not enough wild nichelings with good new mutations or mutagens being earned from the challenges to keep my nichelings up to date for the biomes they need to take on. I feel as if I’ve hit a wall in game play and it’s no longer fun to play when you’ve found yourself unable to progress any further due to the fact that I can’t earn mutagens anymore

Fun, ad-free, but a little hard to advance. I love this game, it’s a great time waster! There’s no ads that I’ve encountered yet, I’ve never been prompted to spend more money, and all the features of the game are included with purchase. That’s a huge plus for me. The progression is solid, if a tiny bit grindy. But it’s still not a chore to progress, because while you’re grinding levels, you can also be breeding your nichelings. I personally had a very hard time finishing the Creek level because for some reason none of my babies seemed to inherit fishing genes despite my best efforts. I haven’t played much of the original game yet (just bought it during the steam sale) so I feel a bit confused? The dominant/recessive trait system is so much fun to play with, but I don’t understand the genetics. Theres no clear indication of what traits ARE dominant or recessive in regards to each other. There’s an encyclopedia of the traits you’ve discovered, but all that tells you is the stat it boosts. I can’t reduce the star rating for something I’m just personally unable to figure out, but it is a little frustrating breeding nichelings only for the traits you bred for to never appear.

Good, from what I can tell. It’s probably a great game, but every time I click play it crashes. This is in no way the developer’s fault, but i am going to note that you shouldn’t purchase this if you have an iPhone 6. I’m glad I could at least support the developers, as I am a fan of their games, I have their other game on my switch, and it is high quality! I wouldn’t doubt that this one is just as great! I am giving it 3 stars because The game is probably really good, but I myself cannot rate it.

Here’s what I think~. This is one of the only five star ratings I’ve ever done! I’ve been waiting so long for this game to come out because I had a feeling they were gonna, it’s different from the switch version but also a lot like it! This game is so fun, so great! I’ve always loved breeding/genetic games and this is 100% A game you need if your anything like me!

Cute and Addictive Genetics Game. So, I love this little app. The gameplay is super relaxing and cute, the nichelings are just gorgeous, and the genetics are super fun to work with! I for one love genetics, so this game is one of my favorite. I must say: this game is NOT supposed to be like the original Niche game, you do need to actually use your brain with the genes or else you won’t be able to keep up with the biomes, and it’s not for people who want super fast paced, exciting games. One tip to the developers is to add more islands. I think they might be working on this, but I could be wrong. Ideas: jungle island, rocky/mountain island, maybe even a volcano island!

Please continue updating!. I absolutely love this game, but I wish there were more environments and such, and maybe new genetics. I love both this game and the original niche game❤️ one thing that would make me and probably many others happy in the future is a possible mobile port of the pc/switch version, since the strategy is what drew me to the game as well as the genetics. I’ll still play this along with the other version, as both are enjoyable in their own right

What happened here?. I love the original pc niche game and coming into this I knew it would of course be different however I was lost the second the tutorial ended. I didn’t know you could adventure to different places so I just sat there adventuring in the same place for 10 minutes. It takes so long to go to the next place I gave up after half an hour. It takes so much time with little reward. I’m not sure how you could fix this all I can say is It is NOT worth the money for this game. Don’t know what happened or why it has so many good reviews.

An exercise in selective breeding. It’s a rather good game if you’re planning to breed animals, but it doesn’t have any consequences for inbreeding so my niecelings ended up being so inbred the reason I say it’s selective breeding is that the game sets the goal you have to figure out how to meet that goal and then you have to meet that goal and it can take quite a while

For Biology Lovers!. This is a great game with pretty realistic genetics and a decent variety to make your own unique creatures! I love this game and enjoy playing with the different genes and creating spectacular beasts! Its excellent at teaching the basics of dominant and recessive genes and is easy to get the hang of. Im very excited for more islands to expand upon, the game felt a bit short, but im eager for further development!

Amazing game. I love this game and I have a lot of fun playing it. The only thing that i dislike is that there is no family tree, and I like knowing wether I’m inbreeding nichelings or not. Either way, this game is great! Thankyou!

Almost Perfect. The game is not the same as the PC game but that is to be expected. One thing that I do find disappointing however is the lack of color within the Nichelings. I feel like everyone I've bred is just a variation of brown. I think improving this function and allowing for more diverse colors would make the game a lot better! I look forward to future updates and hope that new colors will be included! Until then I’m pretty much played out with the game. Response to Developer: I think a huge variety of colors would be fun. Any color in the rainbow would be great! I would be cool to see tons of colors implemented in the base coat, patterns, horns, eyes, etc. Reds,Yellows,Oranges,Greens,Blues,Purples,Pinks,Black,White and other variations of these colors! It would make breeding a lot more fun because the genes could throw out so many more options and variations!

I LOVE THIS!!. I’ve been playing Niche since the beginning. To see it come so far with an amazing mobile game is great! Oh man what I wouldn’t give for an Adam plush. XD So cute! I love the cool down times for this, I LOVE a game I don’t have to wait hours for cool down times, they are very reasonable. I hope that never changes!

Love it! And some requests. I love playing the computer version and heard about this version a wile ago, I’ve been waiting for this game and I’m am greatly excited that it’s out and that I can play! It is a very fun game but I do have some requests: • Changeable color gems- like the original Niche game this greatly helped me organize my nichelings and especially when I’m deep into the breeding and the pelts look the same. • Family tee - I think it would just be more nice to see where you started with your nichelings. • More food options - like your own farm you make or food missions that are longer. Not to go against what you guys already have in the game, I think it is already so great, but these are just my thoughts and ideas to what would make it more fun for me and others. It won't stop crashing. I've really like niche but when I downloaded it on my phone it won't stop crashing i get to the play button the. It loads half way and. Then crashes and I don't know if it is because my phone is outdated or it just doesn't work on the iPhone 6 so someone pls help me

Dead. Very engaging. Would be 5 stars, but while the game says there's more content to come, there hasn't been an update in 2 years. It's not even finished. The game is still good as it is, but seriously.

Fun, Adorable and Addicting!!. I’ve played the PC version ever since it came out of the switch and the mobile version is just as cute! Sure, it’s not as complex or big, but it’s still really fun to play. Things I love: - Even after you move on to the next island, I love how you can visit and continue working on your previous ones - Instead of dying like the PC version, you can hang on to your nichelings as long as you want until your ready to send them to retirement island, and even then you can still visit them and give them pats. - You can switch the nichelings between islands! One of my albinos named Missy had perfect genes for the desert, so I could moved her back from retirement island and into her new home! -You can PET the nichelings. Unlike the old game, you can love on your adorable little thingys. -You don’t have to grind to get anything OR pay money. Everything is really quick but challenging to do, so you can get something quickly, but work your brain for it. Things I would love if you added: - The family tree. The PC version has a family tree witch was really nice to look at. For instance I’m always forgetting if the nicheling I’m about to breed with one of my lady’s is her son or her father or someone random lol. It would be amazing if we had a detailed tree that would fill the whole screen. And don’t make it too minuscule, cuz you can just make a few pages of it to scroll through. -More colors! I loved it when (in the old game) I could breed bright pink or green nichelings. It felt like it was really a different creature. I know you probably wanted to tone it down so it looked more realistic, but o will there were more colors. I relise coded things and making art to go on it takes time, and you might not want to add any of the couple of suggestions I wrote down. And that’s ok!! There just suggestions! And I also relise that the PC version is NOT this game and it’s it’s own thing all together, so again, sorry if I want this to be too much like the computer version. PS: thanks for making it super cheap! I’m under 15 and don’t have a job, so it was nice to just scrounge around in my couch cousins to get three dollars. I love your game!!! Bye!! -Eve

Missing something. I loved niche for so many years and I knew this app would be a simplified version of that, however it got repetitive so quick. The breeding and genetics aren’t as exciting, and it feels weird that there’s no consequences for inbreeding so anyone breeds with anyone. You don’t necessarily lose your nichlings either unless you send them away so it feels like there’s no challenge.

Great game. So glad this is finally out! So far I have really enjoyed it! My three biggest requests would be for a family tree, a way to manually sort your nichelings, and for a way to compare genes of two nichelings without having to switch between the two. I would definitely recommend this game to any mobile gamer

I love it / some requests. Let me just start by saying I love nieche and it's creators. I spend a lot of time on their PC game which happens to also be named nieche, and even though I bought this game a little less than a week ago I have been playing it non-stop. As a new game, it's got some small nitpicky things that I find confusing, but over all I think it is doing very very well. Having said that, I have a couple requests that I feel would make the game just a lick more addicting than it already is: * Add a feature that helps influence genetics when breeding * Add an extra mission that takes longer and rewards more on each island Here are some extra requests for already implemented features. * Make mutagens a little more common, or make a mutated feature more likely to pass down * Make a loop option for each mission so you can keep sending niechlings over and over again with out having to select them every time or Slow down the increase of needed attributes for each missions Disclaimer: I'm not making this post to try and make the developers change the game to another design, I am simply putting out my personal opinions that I express while playing the game. In my specific situation these requests would only serve to strengthen my enjoyment of this game. -chieph

I watch people play it it looks so good! This is a good game. I love it but add a fam tree I get so mixed up. Not the best game…. To be honest I kinda wanted it to be like the pc version, this version is kinda disappointing. A lot of the function in the game aren’t here and there it’s no unique genetics, aka, Wings, fins, Etc. But most disappointingly no sandbox mod, DO NOT PURCHASE IF YOU WANT THE THINGS MENTIONED. I guess I’ll just wait for the pc price to go down,

Good but needs a few fixes. It’s good but the only thing wrong with it is that unlocking stuff cost to much berry's or add less rocks bc there kinda annoying but that’s it the game is amazing

Super fun but big bug later on. I love this game as have played up till frost island, but then the foraging becomes unplayable :( I’d really like to see that fixed so I can explore that area. Anyway overall it’s so fun.

Highly recommended! Super Fun Mobile Adaptation!. While some aspects of the game could use some better explanations or instructions like for example - what effect does the perception stat even have on the foraging - the game’s so simple that trial and error will suffice for figuring out much of the mechanics even if all is not entirely clear. The game itself is simple yet has a super fun gameplay loop free of any in-app purchases where you breed to get the traits you want using the principles of real genetics and then you send your nichlings out to gather food by themselves or help them in a cool strategic minigame where you control your entire party of nichlings to gather as much food as possible and make it to the end goal in as little turns as possible. There’s a surprising amount of locations to explore, but I feel a bit underwhelmed on how many genes there are and would love to see even more locations and genes added even if the genes are only cosmetic. Another feature I’d like to see is a notebook feature where we can mark our predictions and conclusions on whether we think a specific gene is dominant, recessive, or co-dominant so that we can compile this information ourselves during gameplay and can easily reference it again for our breeding projects. Highly recommended and worth the price! This game has given me hours of fun and it reminds me of an addictive free-to-play game in it’s appealing gameplay mechanics and ease to pick up and play but without all the horrible in-app purchases that will drain you dry. If you like or find appealing breeding, genetics, simple turn based strategy games or puzzles where you need to optimize, or management games, you’ll probably enjoy this game too!

Not The Same Game. I hate to be critical, because it’s clear the team behind this game worked hard on it. That being said, they shouldn’t market this as the mobile version of their computer game. It’s not the same game. The original has sandbox elements and focused more on the genetics and strategy of the game. This version is a pet simulator, in a market with a bunch of pet simulators. The bright side is they kept the genetics aspect of the game, but it’s really watered down. This feels like a kiddie version of the original game, and I don’t mean that to be disparaging, but everything from the art style to the cutesy focus on bonding really does feel like it’s for grand schoolers. I wouldn’t be as critical, except they force you to start with Adam and Eve. I don’t want Adam and Eve. I want a random pair of sandbox characters so the world feels unique instead of like a preset. What set the original apart was that it felt like it treated it’s audience like they were intelligent. This just feels like Nintendogz with decent explanations about how breeding works. Not the worst game ever, and probably fun for a first timer, but if you’re getting this because you like the original then please save your money.

Long time fan of Niche. I’ve played Niche on steam since it came out and I loved it! When it came out on iOS I 🏃💨 to download it and I don’t regret it! The art is beautiful, and though it would be nice to see the nichlings react to where you pet them (like lil head scratches) it’s more of a suggestion than a hindrance! Besides that, I’m super excited to experience more of the game and whatever updates hold for Niche! 🥰

I appreciate that this game is a one payment and done. You buy it and you have it and it’s relaxing enough that I fall asleep playing while also scratches my breeding game itch. I look forward to further updates and wouldn’t mind supporting the game with purely cosmetic micro transactions to be honest.

Fun Game!. Wish there were a “contact” feature to report potential bugs. My nichelings often have genes that glitch, that express despite being absent from the genome or don’t express despite being dominant or even despite showing up on both the top (dominant) & bottom (recessive) halves.

Above and beyond!. I found this game looking for something new and since day 1 it has not disappointed as a mobile game! Then today I nearly $@!& myself trying to find a new game for my XBox One console and YOU GUYS MADE A BEAUTIFUL CONSOLE VERSION!!!! Y’all truly went above and beyond when it came to thinking outside the box props to your development team for its creativity!!!
