Great app but change to subscription model got me looking around.. I’m not completely anti subs I understand you have to pay something of the support but I’m a one and done person. I don’t want to have to remember when I gave to pay etc. I would rather pay a lifetime fee and or just pay for the new version app once and they do yearly improvements and add another number behind it so you can choose to support them or not. Call me crazy but I wound rather pay a one time fee every year when I choose to upgrade to the new and improved app then to have an auto subscription model the same one every year model.

Fix the video issue. I hate to write this review, because I love this app and have been paying for it in various forms since the 1st version came out, but videos _will_ _not_ _play_ in this app reliably and all I get from the dev is a shrug about it. Same tweet, video will play in Twitterrific fine, it’ll play in the Twitter official app fine, but in Tweetbot, I get a loading indicator then an error. And it’s happening to the majority of videos I try to play, on multiple devices. Everything else about it is as great as it’s ever been, it’s the best-looking app in terms of UI and typography by far, but the video thing is a deal-killer. Ending my subscription.

The best client still has a few shortcomings. This is my preferred Twitter client. The speed of adding to a mute list as well as syncing mute list changes (when you have a large mute list) and position syncing is fixed and that alone is worth it to me. Seeing polls is a welcome addition. Saving a search remains broken as it has been for years. Adding a user to mute list is thankfully moved to the top of the list but hashtag and keyword are still require lots of scrolling to find them. Adding a mute filter now adds it directly to the list so if you wanted to only mute for a number of days you must now find the newly created filter and edit it.

Tweetbot was why I used Twitter. Now that baby Elon has begun vanquishing the final elements of innovation from Twitter, I come here to say that Tweetbot is the reason I have enjoyed Twitter these last 12 years. Using the official app for one day had made it clear to me that my time on Twitter is coming to an end. Ivory will keep Tweetbot's memory alive, and hopefully we will look back on its loss as a sacrifice towards a more open, decentralized, and innovative social platform. Many thanks to Paul and Mark and their efforts over these many years, and we are fully with you.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.. Thank you Tapbots for an amazing app. It’s a shame the service you worked so hard to support and evangelize has forsaken you in the most insulting and incompetent of ways. Your work was appreciated for years, and I happily paid my small portion to have the best experience on the bird site as possible. Truly one of the all time greats of iPhone apps. You will be missed. Godspeed.

Thank You, Tapbots!. After Twitter bought Tweetie and ruined it, Tweetbot stepped up to show that the mobile Twitter experience could still be fantastic. Twitter’s been slowly eroding the 3rd-party API for years now, so it was clear the end was inevitable. Now that it’s here, I feel bad for Tapbots. Tweetie is an amazing app, and has been the only way I’ve accessed Twitter on my phone for 11+ years. It’s the only app I’ve purchased a subscription for. I wasn’t considering moving to Mastodon, but now that Ivory has been announced, my Twitter days might be over. Thanks for being amazing, Tapbots!

Tweetbot makes Twitter better. Tweetbot is the only way I have used twitter for many many years. I have Tweetbot on my iPhone, iPad, and Mac. I would pay much more than the low annual subscription for it—it is that useful and valuable. Right now, Twitter has unethically shut down third-party app access, including Tweetbot. I’ve been forced to use Twitter’s ‘official’ app—thanks, I hate it. I hope Twitter will come to their senses and re-enable Tweetbot’s API access—but it seems unlikely, at least under current leadership. Until that changes, I am thrilled to be using the early access version of Ivory—the Mastodon client from the good people behind Tweetbot. Onward!

🤦🏻‍♂️. It’s the same app as last version, except now you have to pay $1/month or $6/year. Literally nothing in terms of look and feel of this has changed from current app. Still these giant bezels in the app on top and bottom despite bigger iPhone screens. So no full screen viewing. No additional themes, colors, options to choose own colors, etc. Nothing. Kinda pathetic. For me this is the worst of what a dev can do - bait you into starting to pay for a subscription for an app you already paid for with “improvements under the hood” and nothing else. Updated with new API doesn’t do it for me if you don’t make real changes. Website says some changes maybe coming later. Meanwhile last version 5 hadn’t been updated with any type of changes since that came out in years. Have little faith there will be any changes to function or look. Sorry. Not usually a pessimist. But just going based on dev’s history with this app

The best Twitter app. I feel for the developers of this app. To be cut off completely from the API without any communication is unforgivable. This was my go to app for Twitter. The interface was intuitive and easy to navigate. The official Twitter app is crap and I’m not using it. This has been my last straw with Twitter. I’m closing my Twitter account after I pull my data. What a shame one man, Elon Musk, can destroy so much. In any regard, thanks to the folks at Tapbots for a great app that is now unusable through no fault of their own.

A steal at twice the price. If you’re going to use the bird site you might as well use a client that you know isn’t going to suddenly change everything overnight and make you even more miserable than you already are. And if you use the bird site enough to be irritated by that sort of constant change-churn then $6/year is a bargain to be insulated from it. I’m just glad the bird site has apparently eased up on their efforts to squeeze third-party clients into oblivion—and this is still the best third-party client out there if you just want to read posts in chronological order, like our fathers and forefathers did.

You would think they were charging a thousand dollars. Like many, I’m not sure I agree with the transition toward subscription models for many of the apps I use. However, for something I use every day, the annual fee for this specific app seems very reasonable. Not to sound too old, but “back in my day, we used to buy magazines for information and entertainment.” Meanwhile, for nearly the same price as one magazine I can support this developer to keep my daily information looking nice and modern for a whole year. I just recently downloaded version 6, but have been using the previous versions for years. While I haven’t yet seen any drastic upgrades, I quickly subscribed without hesitation. Again, well worth the price for something I use everyday.

The same again. You have not improved the application for many years. The new version has the same functions as 3 or 4 years ago, no significant improvements. You can't see the likes or retweets directly ... we've been asking for it for years. And now I have to pay again monthly for something that I paid many times in previous versions. You are killing your own app.

If you’re going to charge a subscription, you better update the app more often. I have used Tweetbot for awhile now. Even buckled down and paid for the subscription, though I was kinda miffed about it. I am used to doing twitter this way. But, I’m kinda starting to think the developers are asleep at the wheel. I watch a regular rollout of new twitter and iOS features, and expect to see them roll out to this app a couple weeks (a month?) later. But nothing. It’s been 7 months since an update and things haven’t changed at all. Even the updates we did get 7 months ago are hidden in such obscure places as to be almost impossible to find. There was nothing tweaked for iOS 16. I hope the reason we are waiting so long for new features is because you have a big update coming next week. In the meantime, I think it’s finally time to start trying some different twitter apps.

The best twitter app. Soon to be releasing the best Mastodon App.. This has been my go to twitter app for many years. I’m disappointed to see it go. Please update and add an option to tip. I’d like to support you guys financially. I know you’ll be releasing Ivory soon (and it would be kinda cool if this app just “updated” into it). Please be sure to build in a tip option into that app! I’m already using the TestFlight for Ivory and it’s already my favorite Mastodon client. Missing a couple of features but I know you’ll get to them soon. Thanks for all your hard work.

Thanks for many great years. I got started on Twitter because I had heard of a brand new app called Tweetbot and wanted to try it out. All these years later, I’m still using Tweetbot. I was, until an insecure billionaire’s fragile ego killed off all third party Twitter clients. Mastodon is a much nicer platform - best of luck with the upcoming Ivory release. I’ve been using the beta for quite some time and it’s really excellent. Thanks for all the years of support and being the best Twitter experience out there. (Twitter has ads? Who knew? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

The best twitter client for iPad hands down. I have been using this app for a while now and absolutely love the interface and look of it. The way it deals with polls is great considering how difficult Twitter has made it for third party clients. The safari extension has been very useful too. My only wish is that there was a way to enlarge the little “pop-up” view that shows when you redirect from a safari page. the iPad screen is so big please let me use it!

Great update to a great app. Finally Tweetbot is showing polls and with the adoption of the new API viewing threads is more reliable. Pinned tweets on profiles is a nice addition too. The paywall could be more clear about what functionality is available with and without subscribing. I certainly prefer paid up front apps, but $6 a year for the most used app on my phone is totally fair. Especially if that means we don’t have to download a new paid update every few years and setup everything again.

I won’t renew my subscription. I’ve been in love with this app for years. I bought Tweetbot 5 the moment it was released. When Tweetbot 6 came out with a subscription plan, I hesitated for a while, but bought a yearly subscription because of the new features and cool themes. As a person who only uses Twitter as social media the quality of the app is important to me. But for the past few weeks I’ve been experiencing A LOT of lag when scrolling through tweets on my iPhone 11. I even deleted the app and reinstalled it to see if it was a cache problem. At first I thought maybe my phone was lagging but no other apps have this issue. In fact, the Tweetbot 5 that I’ve purchased years ago works like a charm. I prefer a smooth experience with lack of features, to a lot of features with major lags. So I will just use my Tweetbot 5 from now and won’t renew my yearly subscription if it’s not fixed.

Happy to support Tapbots. I’ve been using Tweetbot ever since the first version was released and have always been happy with it. Due to the high polish of the app and how often I use it, I have no issues paying yearly for it. I understand the developers have to eat, put a roof over their heads, and support their families. I also think the yearly subscription is a small price to pay for an app I use multiple times a day, every day. Tweetbot 6 is as great as ever. The new features are welcome and I look forward to where Tapbots takes the app in the future.

A landmark app. Tweetbot is why I ended up engaging a lot more with twitter around 2013. And over the ensuing 10 yrs, I’ve grown my professional network on twitter. I’ve been invited to conferences, to speak at conferences. I met my book coauthor on twitter. And a lot of this woulda been a lot harder if I didn’t have an app for that platform that was a delight to use. Thank you for a decade of excellent user experience. I can’t wait to pay you again for Ivory.

Almost There!. I think it is a definite improvement from tweetbot 5 but there a few things that should be changed. i think there should only be 4 tabs on the bottom instead of 5 it would make it easier to switch between them when using one hand, for example put the profile selection in the top left corner where your picture is and leave 4 tabs at the bottom giving the option to select which one you want for 2 tabs on the bottom right.. that’s all i have right now, if this change could be made i would use tweetbot full time, great app tho!

Streamlined. Very streamlined for engagement. You’ll know all about your replies with their super easy to navigate UI. However, you won’t get much notice about likes or very many ways to follow them outside of a number count. (I’d really like to be able to expand on this in the analytic menu. Having such broad info isn’t very beneficial for a smaller page like mine.) I would also love to see translate added to the 3D Touch when hovering over a tweet rather than having to expand it > settings > translate for a 3 word sentence. Still mildly prefer the vanilla client (aside from their ordering and ads) because it feels more personal, but I’m giving TB an honest try!

App feels bored. Having been using Tweetbot since it came out 11 years ago, it is an app I use daily and I’ve paid more than $50 to Tapbots over years, but new functions and design refinement of Tweetbot 6 doesn’t feel like warranting a $6/year paid subscription. If you can can live without Twitter API V2 features and use official app as substitute as I do, you’re probably better off just using Tweetbot 5 until it’s dead. Also, a $4.99 app every year or every other year, rather than a subscription just feel like more appropriate for a social networking app. Subscription adds unnecessary cumbersome management to end user and I really don’t need a social network app appearing in my already crowded App Store subscription section. That being said, it’s worth noting Tweetbot has vastly better app efficiency, data privacy policy comparing to official clients. And if you’re new to Tweetbot, it’s still a great purchase. Also, if a subscription means it will works cross platform, including Mac, that will be a big value add for end users too and I’ll happily subscribe. Hope Tapbots can consider.

Absolutely satisfied. My favorite two features in Tweetbot include the ability to translate tweets to English. I follow international leaders and sometimes don’t tweet in English. Secondly, immediate reader view when clicking article. Super simple and I love it. Two minor complaints? It seems a little slow fetching data when compared to official Twitter client and my custom Icon setting doesn’t work. I’ve been using Calcbot since it was introduced into the App Store many years ago and STILL my only go-to calc app. I was happy with the built in sounds, very familiar. Thanks again!

Software as a Service strikes again. The mass explosion of the subscription model is one of the worst things to happen to consumer software. Professional software suites like Adobe can get away with it for the reason that their alternatives don’t have the same market share and integration, but as a third party social media client, you’re already the underdog, and you’ve got more convincing to do to get me to use your product. Fortunately, Tweetbot 5 was a stellar app, and in spite of Twitter’s stinginess with their API for all those years was full of really nice features. Tweetbot 6 brings all of that and more to the table—time will tell how much more—but I’m not sure the added features make it worth it the shift in business model. I realize developing a good application takes time and money, and I’m all for supporting developers. I paid good money for Tweetbot in the past. But at the end of the day, for an average person like me, it’s literally just Twitter. It’s not so important to me that I won’t just keep using TB5 and the Twitter web client rather than shell out even more than I paid for TB5 every year for something new. Perhaps if the Tweetbot iOS and MacOS clients could be bundled together this could be a good deal, but otherwise it’s sad to see one of the all-time greats go this way.

Save yourself from the main app. Now that the main app is changing on a whim and utterly ruining the UI and recommendations algorithm, Tweetbot has once again become a neccessity for interacting with this website. It’s still not perfect due to API limitations but it’s way better than seeing those stupid view count numbers cluttering your feed. We can only hope twitter doesn’t kill API access out of jealousy.

Tweetbot never fails to deliver the best experience. Tweetbot 6 is one of the most polished apps there are, never had an issue using this app or even old versions, they’re always really stable. I tried many alternatives but none come close to what Tweetbot offers. Can’t wait to see what new features will be added along the new Twitter API. I wasn’t too excited at first about the subscription model but considering how much I’ve always used Tweetbot and the really cheap yearly price, it wasn’t a very hard decision to make. Developers need to get paid for their hard work so I get that

The Best of Tapbots, But A Touch Outdated. While I’ve been a Tweetbot user since the very first version launched on the app store and pushed it like crazy against all the competitors when third-party Twitter clients were the norm, I shied away from using them in recent years because of the design language and lack of modern twitter features available on the first-party client. What you get here is the best of the best Tapbots can bake into a Twitter client along with no tracking or ads for 99¢ per month. If you enjoy the familiar functionality and design of Tweetbot, you’ll love the app and feel right at home. For me though, I can’t help but feel as though the design language hasn’t evolved much beyond 2012 era cues and would’ve loved to see a reimagining of the interface. While I suppose it does align more closely with the goofy (neo-skeuomorphic) nature of macOS 11, you’re still left feeling trapped in an app that hasn’t changed in a decade. Granted, Twitter’s own app has only recently added changes. Part of me enjoys the cartoonish icons that bring me back to simpler times on twitter, but I mostly wish they felt modern at least. Essentially, you are paying for an app free of ads and tracking and the trade off of features like Fleets and Spaces (and voice tweets and polls). Covering the cost of ads alone is enough to justify the sub to support the Tapbots team for me, but I do wish there would be a reimagining of the visual interface.

Nice Update, But Subscription Hmmmm..... The devs behind Tweetbot are amazing and deserve support for making what I would say is the best Twitter client out there. To be honest Twitter should pay Tapbots for their designs and efficiency of the app. Even though I will continue to support the app as well as the devs, I think maybe quarterly feature updates that you have to pay a upgrade fee would be cool or even a decently priced upgrade charge for the yr. I think that everything going subscription doesn’t make sense when people are starting to get subscription fatigue. I think that yearly update charge, or even every six months not being advertised as subscription but something someone would have to consider and purchase it especially if the features are worth it. Which I believe this app and the devs do a great job of doing so I can see people supporting it. Maybe some creative thought can go into a different model but I’m all for this update and the devs being supported because I want them to continue going with what is the best Twitter experience that they are allowed to make because Twitter themselves took away a lot of the features.

Another subscription… ugh. Been a huge fan of Tweetbot for years. Have gotten used to paying $6-$10 every year or two for an upgrade and always happy to do so. However, I can’t move forward with another subscription. As many have mentioned, we’re already overwhelmed by subscription services and the management/ end user experience of managing them is a pain. I’ll be looking for a replacement Twitter app for the first time in years. Tapbots- please consider adding a one time payment option. I’d be happy to even pay $10-$12 for the one time option. But please don’t force all your users into another tiresome subscription.

UX/UI can be weird and there are some bugs. My motivation in trying this out was mainly to use Twitter without ads and without all the other bad stuff they use to hook you (curated timelines, suggested stuff, etc.). I'm happy that this app doesn't have any of that stuff and I'm fine with paying a small subscription for that. I also liked all the customizability. Going between all the other social media apps I never have trouble getting around, but going from the normal Twitter app to this I had some trouble. Mainly the way you open a thread is to swipe, which I thought was totally bizarre. I did get into the habit of it, but when I'd go to a different app I'd be used to doing it the weird swipe way and I'd do something else by mistake. There's other weird UI stuff, like when you go to someones account pictures don't show up until you scroll down and hit "show all tweets." I feel like there's lots of little slight misses like that that kinda make the experience a little clumsy. I also encountered a bug where a thread would not show replies sometimes. The reply count would be correct, but they wouldn't show up. This app seems cool, and I'd be excited to use it if all that stuff was fixed.

Sorry, you priced me out. I’m always willing to pay for a quality app and Tweetbot has always been a quality app. I’ve purchased and used it since v2. It’s been nearly 5 years since v5 was released. As a developer myself, I know it shouldn’t take 5 years to develop a social media app, especially when cosmetically it hasn’t changed much. I’m not sure what Twitter v2 API offers, but v5 of Tweetbot has always suited my needs. If this was fixed price (and fair) I’d pay, but I do not support subscription models as a rule. It’s bad business. If it takes 5 more years to develop v7 then I’ve paid $30 for this app. I don’t pay that much for apps. Sorry. I’ll stick with v5 until it doesn’t work anymore and if you’re still pushing subscription models I’ll move to a different app.

Great Alternative!. I’ve been using Tweetbot since early 2010 and have loved it! Makes the Twitter experience so much better. Yes there are missing pieces now (full push notifications, etc.) but I’ll take it over Twitter’s ads and curated timeline. The latest update with background notifications makes it even better! However the “re-refreshed” ticker is a little small. I understand the removal of the arrow, but if it could be larger (similar to the previous refresh but without the arrow) it would be great! Keep up the great work Tapbots! 🤖

Beyond Poor. This application does not comply with A11Y standards or work properly with voiceover enabled. I have communicated with developers several times over the years and they have always promised to resolve issues, but never do. How is it expected that visually impaired individuals will use the app when alternative descriptions are missing for buttons and items and numerous elements are either skipped or not spoken aloud. Additionally, tabs and settings can only be selected if VoiceOver is deactivated. Clearly they either don't know how to build accessible apps or care to do so! I strongly discouraged the use of this application and encourage others to do so until they ensure it is accessible to all, regardless of their disability.

Syncing between devices is troublesome. Tweetbot is one of the few applications I’ve purchased as a subscription, mostly because for several years it’s been the only Twitter client worth using. It’s dissapointing that sync between devices is still not up to snuff. I should be able to pick up where I left off on my phone, and resume on my iPad (and vice versa). In practice, this doesn’t work, especially if I’ve gone a day or two without opening the application. Another annoyance, it seems there’s an arbitrary number of messages that you can fall behind (around 1500). Fall behind more than that, and your timeline is truncated. This could be the fault of twitter’s api, and out of control of the developer.

Enjoyable but needs work. I think the app is pretty good for the most part. The look, aesthetics, and display are attractive. However, there are a few cons that I think bring down my rating for it. The fluidity of the app is a little clunky. I find myself having to press the home button multiple times to refresh to the top of the page which is a turn-off for me. Also, I do not like the tab bar at the bottom too much, I don't find it to be very helpful. Especially when I'm simply trying to find out who recently liked my tweet or mentioned me. I have to go to a certain section of my profile to see who liked/retweeted any of my tweets opposed to how the original Twitter app I have all of that information in my “Notification Tab” that is merely one click away. The way the app functions when trying to interact with a tweet is just rough all around tbh. For example, on the home screen, if I see a tweet that possibly has other people interacting with it and tuning in to a conversation, I cannot simply press on the tweet to see what's going on. Tweetbot makes me press on the settings of a tweet to look at the details of everything which is honestly time-consuming and annoying. I do believe these are easy fixes that would improve the functionality of the app. Overall, the functionality and the clunkiness of how the app operates need to improve in my opinion. Once these things are addressed and fixed, I will have a higher rating.

Thank you devs!. Tweetbot has easily been my most used app over the past decade. I bought the first iteration as it was released back in 2011 and have used it ever since. The app has been such a delight to use and we were fortunate to have software of such caliber. It’s truly terrible that the new Twitter team has decided to immediately revoke access to the API with no regard for developers or users. I will fondly remember using Tweetbot daily. Thank you so much Tapbots team!

Tweetbot 5 is more responsive than this…. I dunno what they are doing with this, but it is becoming very sluggish and unreliable. I opened it this morning after a few days and it just sat there with the loading bar going back and forth forever. After several minutes, I closed it down and reopened it but now it only showed a couple new tweets and that’s it. The timeline was missing the last 3 days of tweets, which never loaded. I went back to version 5 and everything loaded quickly and fully. So I am back to TB 5 and am cancelling my sub to version 6 til I see some serious updates. No reason whatsoever to EVER lose/miss tweets in the timeline.

I prefer the subscription model. I’ve been a Tweetbot user pretty much from the beginning and am pleased that I can now be a subscriber because it is easier than periodically throwing 💰 into the tip jar which is what I used to do because … well … Tweetbot the best twitter client and my most heavily used app and I want to show my appreciation. You never hear Tweetbot users complain about ads, or that their timeline is out of order. Those advantages alone are worth the price of admission. And Tweetbot’s developers continue to innovate. (I came to the App Store today to check the recent release notes because a new feature just appeared, and ended up writing a review, which is turning into a dissertation, lol.) I like Calcbot, too 😆.

The Best, and ONLY, Way Twitter Made Sense. I do not understand how anyone deals with the algorithmic timeline on Twitter’s website or official App. I have used Tweetbot for ages and to see it sunset’d in such a ham fisted and disrespectful way has put me off Twitter. The TapBots team had no warning from Twitter that this was going ti happen and then 5 days after the fact, we all got a nice Tweet from Twitter support declaring “these devs broke the rules lulz!” Inexcusable. My experience using Mastodon thus far has been splendid, albeit sparse on content since not a ton of folks are there yet. Hopefully with time, we’ll have a great community there. RIP Tweetbot. I’ll gladly fork over money for Ivory the first opportunity I get. Best of luck.

RIP. When a lot of people I knew were leaving Twitter, I always said I would go down with the ship. It’s been too important a part of my life for the last decade, and still provided too much value, for me to quit cold turkey. At least I thought. Since Twitter cut access to third party apps, I haven’t returned. Twitter’s official app and functionality are atrocious, and seem designed specifically to make the experience of accessing the community worse. I know I cut my self among those who have left Twitter, though not for any philosophical reason. Simply put, without the filter of Tweetbot, it is just a bad product. Seeing that, Tapbots is developing an app for Mastodon has finally convinced me to create an account there, and I eagerly await it’s release.

No badges. I have a paid subscription, I’ve contacted support in the past, I have the feature turned on, but I still don’t get badges working. I never got all the other features to work, which would’ve been nice, but would settle for badges. I’m still giving it a few stars because I do still like it better than the regular Twitter app. But now it even seems like I’m even missing tweets on my lists.

Tweetbot Goodbye no regrets. It is disappointing, and unfair to take money and take advantage in this way. I was one of the few who bought the two previous versions of the weetbot app and would recommend it to others in all social media, and it was worth the money that we paid, first of all, and we were more loyal than you and wiser that we continued to use it despite the progress And other applications developed on it (in a short time) after the fourth application version and with many steps, and you could have reduced the payment fee for those who bought the previous two versions at the very least, or by updating the old version without another application for the program, and all applications do that.

Early access, at Full price. Ive been using Tweetbot 5 or whatever the version prior to this new subscription based Tweetbot. Ive had some issues here and there over the years but they have usually been resolved eventually. When i heard of a new Tweetbot i decided to jump all in. Even at the price of admission with the new features i was excited for a breath of fresh air in Tweetbot. Then i subbed with the free trial and off i went….my excitement quickly vanished like an accidental alcohol spill it evaporated in mere seconds. Looks like nothing has changed except for one thing, the subscription price. Im not against subscriptions if the usefulness of the app is warranted (June Cloud owns me for life with Deliveries) and i will gladly pay it to ensure the devs get paid enough to keep working on the app. However i found that even in early access, its just not warranted. So i did was any other user would do, cancel subscription, delete app and re-download the old one. Well thats where I was wrong. The app is slowly falling apart to the point where media no longer plays correctly if at all. When i asked for support, they said i needed Tweetbot 6 to remedy this as the API has changed and thats all good, except you have to pay to use the new version. So im basically left with a broken Tweetbot 5 and and my only recourse is to pay the $5.99/year for Tweetbot 6. Off to the official twitter app i go! Thanks for all the years TapBots, but today i say good bye.

I would likely have stopped using Twitter if not for this app. The official Twitter app for iOS seems to be trying desperately hard to be a social network when that’s not how me (and I suspect most people) use the service. I would’ve likely stopped using Twitter long ago if not for this app. Tweetbot has made sensible design decisions at every turn. It’s a godsend. If you actually want to read every tweet in your feed (honestly can’t believe this is a real differentiator) this is the app for you.

Nice Update for an App I’ve Used Over 10 Yeara. Great app - in looking at my purchases, I see that I’ve had almost every version of Tweetbot for the last ten years. I’ve been using version 5 since 2015. So…I get it, I’m not a fan of subscription models. But I look at it this way. It’s a great app. I haven’t paid the developers anything for over five years. They’re asking $6 a year for the new version. In this case, it seems pretty cheap. The reality is you can’t expect developers to create, support, and enhance applications on an ongoing basis at no cost. Rejecting a modest cost out of hand (especially when the existing version continues to remain available and functional) seems to put you in a position where you want something for nothing. Doesn’t work that way.

Disappointed with paying subscriptions. I have to say that this is sad because I have used this app for many years now since it came out and the company was known for their Utilities app’s once I found out they were doing an Twitter client I was on board, but after many years. I wouldn’t mind paying for a new version of the app every year, so now playing for a subscription and keeping all the most useful features behind a pay wall call subscription is not ok with me at all I can’t support it. I don’t have any type of subscription because I don’t believe in them, I don’t even pay for DLC or micro transactions in the video games I play and love the most, so I would have rather be charge up front for this update than being looked out of the features that matters the most to me and many other users it doesn’t matter how cheap the subscription is. I just don’t appreciate and like subscription I would have love for the developer to let the previous version of the app users that they were going to lose some of their features after the update. Not recommend, and I’m sorry but this update is trash great app though, just don’t like and appreciate the new subscription model they had adopted, but hey a company needs to make a profit in order to survive no other choice. Good Luck to the company and the users. It didn’t have to be this way.

Hasn’t kept up with modern Twitter usage - limited functionality. I was a huge fan of Tweetbot 1 and 2 many years ago, using it after Tweetie got bought out. When the newest version came out, I really wanted to support and love it, instantly buying the 1 year subscription. It made me realize how much Twitter has grown in the past decade - because Tweetbot is lacking all the most important functionality. You can’t read through threads - replies appear just as they did in 2011. You can’t even view quote retweets of tweets - which are the most interesting part of discussion in my usage (juicy ratio-ed discourse - where you get to read the range of perspectives on one controversial tweet). In addition, it seems to have constant network issues, and fails to post when the regular Twitter app has no problem. It requires a long press to view the individual tweet and see replies to it - making it slow and awkward to follow any conversation at all. It seems meant exclusively to view tweets in a linear format and not engage in discussion. The only advantage is no ads - which sadly makes me wish Twitter officially offered a no ads subscription.

Still the only usable Twitter app on mobile. We all know the official Twitter client is garbage. Littered with ads, attempting to regulate how you view your timeline, “features” added suddenly and without warning that are annoying at best or harassment vectors at worse. Tweetbot remains the only usable Twitter client. Chronological timelines and ad free scrolling are the number one features, but the added features tweetbot offers are nice if they fit your particular use case. The app is nice and cleanly designed, and offers some nice theming as well. Since the Twitter API change, we haven’t been able to view likes or RTs on our tweets in tweetbot, but I’ve since learned that I didn’t need that additional noise in my life and don’t mind it being gone. This is the third or fourth version of tweetbot I’ve paid for and as long as it exists I will continue to pay for it. The issue in the past was that If you weren’t paying attention, you might have missed a new version being released. I hope the subscription model prevents that from happening in the future. While I agree that subscriptions are hit or miss for people, the ability as a long time user to continue to support the developer of their favorite app beats the alternative of having the developer go under or be bought by a worse corporation. In conclusion, if tweetbot one day is unable to function due to more restrictive Twitter api rules, I will stop using Twitter itself.

Read-only without subscription? Nah.. The title says it all. Without buying a monthly or yearly subscription, you get a read-only version of Twitter. Can’t like or retweet, can’t post tweets. What a waste of time. Out of curiousity, I went ahead and purchased a subscription to see what amazing and magical abilities this app was going to give me over the official Twitter app, and I was very disappointed. Not does the app still look and feel like it was written a decade ago, but aside from not seeing ads and being able to do some more advanced filtering, it didn’t knock my socks off. And those aren’t features I need, especially if I have to pay to get them. Canceled my subscription and uninstalled the app. I won’t give Tweetbot another shot.

Way to kill a great app.. Paid for the last two versions of Tweetbot - and was happy to do so when the payment got you new features. Now in the quest to force you to switch to their new subscription business model, the version you previously paid for is now broken - images and video don't work. Not a great way to support long term customers.

Too Late :(. Review is too late given that Twitter shut off third party support. Thanks for the years of service, tapbots. You’re awesome and I hope you can develop elsewhere. Bye, Twitter.

Undeserved death. Someone’s ego got dented and now they’ve blocked the best Twitter experience around. I’ve moved over to Mastodon (you should, too), and can’t wait to buy Ivory.

Lol delete Tweetbot 5 so we have to pay to use this. Smd lol I’ll go back to the official app. Rude.

Shady. I purchased Tweetbot 5. Let me try and understand this… rather than update the app I paid for already, did you create a new one that is almost identical and then create a recurring payment system to unlock features I already had access to? And then remove the previous version from the App Store?

Waste of money. App is no longer connecting and the developers rarely issue updates. The native Twitter app is now a better option.

Thank you for making Twitter better. I can't even remember how long I've been using Tweetbot, but it's been years. In that time you protected me from the non-linear timeline, ads, the unwelcome recommendations and random insertion of tweets from accounts I don't follow. Through political shenanigans and global pandemic, this kept me from completely drowning in unwanted "content" and kept me in touch with my friends and possibly even my sanity. My sincere thanks to your entire team for the work you've done to provide a stable, easy-to-use and unfussy way to sip from the firehose.

Wow. I had purchased this app a while ago because it was quite a good app back in the day. Can’t believe they’ve changed it to a subscription based app, which you can’t even tweet from on the free version. Terrible. Use the default twitter app.

Updates are slow, otherwise it works fine :). No Issues with the App so far, but the updates are slow and sometimes causes it to close, can be frustrating at times when trying to scroll up on it.

It's Great, But. It is great. Shame Twitter is trying to kill third party clients.

Not the app's fault. This app (and several other third-party Twitter apps) stopped working because Twitter has blocked their access to the data they need. This was done with zero warning, and two days later Twitter has given no information about it. Seems more and more likely that Twitter deliberately broke this in order to force people to view it on their own app. This isn't a bug with the app. If you want to yell at somebody, yell at the guy who broke Twitter. My rating is based on several years of using an earlier version of this app, but be aware that it's unlikely to be usable unless Twitter reverse their decision.

Beautiful design and worth the subscription. There are so many things that make Tweetbot better than the normal app. A timeline that’s always chronological, mute filters that are actually useful, no ads, no silly things that show you tweets other people liked in your timeline, and no messing with core features every 5 minutes. No ads is worth the subscription alone, but as a bonus you’re funding the active development of an app that’s only going to get better and won’t just be abandoned when the devs get bored. If you can’t justify $10 a year on your $1000+ device, go enjoy the bloated “native” experience I guess.

Tweetbot Review. There are a couple of features unavailable, that I’d love to be incorporated. (Access to bookmarks, individual account notifications etc). But despite this, & Twitter hampering their accessibility. The developers do a phenomenal job, & this is a great app. Easy to navigate, intuitive, visually appealing. A great, cost effective alternative. This is the little Twitter app that could ❤️

Tweetbot was the best thing about Twitter. Tweetbot has been my favourite Twitter client since the beginning and was the only reason I still used Twitter. Now that Twitter has cut off third party apps I’ll be saying goodbye to the platform, I can’t stand their app or web interface. Thank you Tapbots for the awesome work you’ve done and for all the love put into this app over the years. I wish you all the best - looking forward to Ivory.

Don’t download. I have purchased Tweetbot a few times in the past, but I’m not going to join a subscription service version of Tweetbot. All the greatest Tweetbot features (except chronological timeline) are all gone now, so not worth paying unless we see the return of statistics and other features.

Can’t access Tweetbot after 7.2.1 🤬. Cannot access app after updating. Told to sign in to Twitter but constantly get Failed to access Twitter message. 🤷‍♂️ Email to Support has gone unanswered.

Subscription required to even use the app. I’ve enjoyed Tweetbot for years now and have purchased each new version but a subscription model is an utter joke.

New update failing to contact Twitter. Long time user and ongoing subscriber. Just installed the latest update. Now Tweetbot unable to access Twitter. Logged out then in again on Twitter app and Tweetbot - no good. Same on the Twitter website - no good. Uninstalled and reinstalled Tweetbot - no good. Disappointed.

The best Twitter client. Simply the best Twitter client - whenever I try another I always end up back on Tweetbot. Great UI and fast lightweight app. Even though part one time purchase model was cheaper, it’s still well worth the subscription price.

The best.. This is simply the best Twitter client on any platform.

Download this NOW!. If you spend ANY time on Twitter then you need this app. This is the best way to use Twitter on iPhone

Pass. The audacity to go with a recurring subscription model for an average (at best) Twitter client is off the charts. All of the nope.

Nice UI but needs improvements on.... There’s a reason why Tweetbot has a cult following, the app is smooth and the UI is next level. With version 6 they introduce cards as well as polls (viewing them, not creating them). There’s a few other minor UI changes that work well. Looking forward to seeing what other features are added to version 6! P.S Push Notifications are delayed by approx 7 mins which is not the fault of the developers but more a limitation imposed by Twitter on their API 2.0. Also once again there are no push notifications for likes or retweets, also a Twitter API 2.0 limitation but hopefully they change this in the near future.

Don’t use the official app. Like it says on the tin. Using the official app leads to anger and confusion. Tweetbot will bring enlightenment and happiness.

What’s the point of the sub?. When tweets don’t show any replies and I have to open them in Twitter app or Safari? This is annoying and not what I expected from the subscription.

Exploitation!. After paying for every version/update of Tweetbot, now I have to make a recurring payment to use the app? Lost another customer!

App no longer works. The app no longer works. We pay for the app but it’s disappointing to have a multi day outage

Can’t do anything. The tweet button is grayed out I can’t dm and to refresh anything I need to delete and reinstall the app 😒waste of time use official Twitter app instead Why not use tweetbot? Easy Terrible performance Unusable experience DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY 💸💸💸💸💸

Unfair. I paid for the Tweetbot 5 app. Within a month they converted it to a free app, which allowed them to force ads at me to tip money as if I was a free user who never paid for it in the 1st place. Suddenly, I can’t watch videos on Tweetbot 5, I go looking for an update to see if the issue is fixed and, would you look at that, they made a Tweetbot 6 with perfectly working videos and I need to pay a monthly sub to use it. Disgusting.

Overpriced and underdeveloped. For an app that is subscription only, and you can pay for yearly updates, you’d expect it to be constantly developed. Yet 2 months after the release of iOS 16 while apps such as Fenix (no subscription) have updated to include all new features, Tweetbot lags behind. I’m fine paying for subscriptions, but the expectation is the app is at least kept up to date with iOS. Would not recommend.

Version 6 is fabulous. As a long time user of @tweetbot I am impressed with “Tweetbot for Twitter Version 6″. There are no ads. There is a smooth predictable timeline. No ads alone is worth the annual $AUD10 subscription. You certainly get what you pay for, and more. Keep up the good work.

Pricey. It's by far the best twitter client, but you need a subscription to even like or follow someone. I'd rather pay a one time fee for the absolute basics and leave all the pro features to people who want to pay more for them

Terrible app. I purchased the yearly subscription and the app worked for approximately three hours before it logged me out of my account and will no longer log me back in so it doesn’t work at all. Do not purchase this app!

Changed the rules. This is the wrong way to tweet loyal customers. App is now useless. Time to finally move on. Fraudulent and misleading conduct guys.

$10 per year for what?. I’ve previously purchased this app a few times over the years and it’s been good. But I see no real value in a $10 (AUD) per year subscription model for a Twitter app. You can’t even send a tweet unless you subscribe, that’s pretty greedy! If you had allowed free users to send 10 tweets a day or something like that it might have been usable for light Twitter users, but as it stands now, this app is useless and I’m done with this developer.

Makes twitter usable. The best twitter client been using since version 1 and more than worth the yearly subscription price.

Just Sad. Sad to see my favourite app die 😞☹️🙃.

Twitter the way I want it.. I’ve been using Tweetbot for years. It gives me the tweets of the accounts I follow. Sounds simple, I know, but it’s markedly different from what Twitter itself gives me on the rare occasions that I log into the website. Tweetbot means I’m not being manipulated by an algorithm and I appreciate that. And, of course, it’s well-designed software and all that.

Hidden "feature". What developers didn't mention is that the 6th version of this app includes a subscription that most likely is to be enforced on all users, even these that paid for the old one. Will keep the "5" until it's clear. Enforcement of a SaaS trough abandonment of older paid version is ethically questionable regardless of the subscription fee.

Best Twitter client - until Twitter killed it. This app was, no question, the only thing that kept me on Twitter for as long as I was. Now that the third party API is being killed, it’s what pushed me off of the platform altogether. Thanks for a great ~6years Tapbots team. Can’t wait for Ivory!

Terrible app.. This app used to be amazing. It used to have way more features than the original Twitter app. Now; it’s got so much less AND you have to pay a subscription for it. No thanks.

What the?. I've been using the older version(?), no subscription and got no notice the app was no longer available or that it would no longer be supported. As well for the time I did use it, it was terrible (tbh the entire platform itself s*cks IMO). Biggest complaint; there is no way to view an entire thread at once which makes this app (IMO) totally useless. I'm done with Tapbot.

Three generations of Tweetbot on my phone, but I can’t tweet!. I haven’t accessed Twitter since Tweetbot got shut down. Maybe it’s time to go I’m using Toot! 🦣 It’s nice

Yet another subscription app?. Yet another subscription app? Byebye

World-class Twitter Client. With the addition of background tweet notifications, Tweetbot is almost feature complete to me. If there was a way to link threads like Twitter does, that would be phenomenal. I know longer need to use the terrible Twitter app full of ads. Great job Tapbots!

Best app for Twitter. Long time paid user of this app, and it was worth it, so long and thanks for all the laughs, the awwws, the tears and the nods! Long live Ivory!

The best. Simply the best. Unfairly killed by Elon Musk but that doesn’t change the quality. Will be buying their Ivory client for Mastodon the moment it hits the App Store.

Near Perfect Software. I’ve used Tweetbot since it launched. Twitter just isn’t going to be the same without it… To the extent that I might just leave the service. Good bye Tweetbot, Hello Ivory.

Great app I’ve used for a decade.. Was the only way I could use twitter. Thanks Elon, now I’ve found the new client Ivory from these Dev’s for my twitter replacement- Mastodon. :)

Good-bye. You were the best Twitter client.

The BEST Twitter app by far. I’ve been using Tweetbot on my iPhone, iPad, and Mac for years. Even though it was tempting to leave when the Twitter API was crippled, I stuck with it, because it’s just that good. Super happy to pay the modest yearly subscription (which my husband shares) to continue supporting this great app!

Killed by Space Karen. It was the app that made Twitter Twitter. But then some dickwad killed it off. I look forward to paying good money for Ivory on Mastodon.

Developers Screwed People. Paid money for this app, only for it to go free as a subscription service and now I am forced to subscribe to even TWEET. Hope the app crashes and burns.

Great. Great app. Has a lot of icons and different themes. The app is very fast compared to other third party Twitter apps. Can you please add an option to bold the font? Also would like to see your Tapbot icon in white and black as one of the icons to choose from. Otherwise great work.

I am sad. This app no longer works because of Elon Musk and I am sad. Goodbye sweet prince…

I need to pay!??!. I need to have a subscription in order to use a free service!??! One time, I’m in. But a monthly sub!??!

Godspeed. It’s Fenix, but you get to pay for it every month.

I loved you Tweetbot. I’ve been using Tweetbot since I started using Twitter in the before times. I refuse to use Twitter without it. Musk’s decision to pull API support without the courtesy and respect to even tell someone means I’ll be leaving Twitter now. If they wanted me to use their app they should have made it enjoyable. I’m not going to be tricked into switching apps to be another advertising number. Tapbots: Thank you for everything over all these years. You’re the best.

The best of Twitter. This app represents the best of what Twitter was. It was designed to put the user first. Your timeline. The people you follow. In chronological order. No ‘algorithm’ pumping crap before you eyes. It also represents the best of iOS apps. Thoughtful. Well designed. Considerate and respectful of the person who’s using it. Every iOS app should aspire to Tapbot’s example.

Subscription? Why?. After almost 10 years purchasing the app and being a loyal customer, now is subscription based? Congrats, you guys just lost another one. Ridiculous!

No Push Notifications or Fleets. Not worthwhile. Would be a good app otherwise.

Amazing and beautiful app. Used Tweetbot for years, happily pay the subscription, for Tapbot’s amazing app. Sad to see the white supremacist destroy Twitter and now I’m looking forward to Ivory!

Downgrade. Feels like a downgrade. Looking for a different service now.

Love the app, hate what Twitter has become. Loyal user for years, unwilling to use Twitter if I can’t use Tweetbot. Looking forward to Ivory.

Tweetbot was Twitter!. I never used Twitter website or native app - Tweetbot was always my favourite way to use Twitter… I doubt I will be able to handle Twitter without Tweetbot - user experience is terrible in my opinion, also timeline is even worse… I will gladly renew my subscription for the last time and immediately will jump on Ivory - mastodon is a lot of fun!

RIP A Legend. Elon took you away too soon.

The Best - Looking Forward to Ivory. Unfortunately Elon Musk seems to have cut off Tweetbot customers’ access to Twitter. Sad end to a great app.

Lack of updates. I don’t mind paying a subscription, but I do mind a lack of updates to the app. It has issues and it’s been 8 months since it was updated. Why should I continuing paying monthly if you won’t update the app regularly?

Thanks for the ride. Happy customer since the beginning - thanks for all you did! RIP Twitter

Pay 2 Tweet. What a dumb app…you have to subscribe to send a tweet. What a waste of time.

Subscription based apps are cancer. The amount of greed this company exhibits is astronomical. First, they make you pay for every new version they come out with, even though they add practically nothing new each time, then they switch to a subscription model just so they can take your money continuously without adding anything new! And on top of all of that, they put the fundamental features of Twitter (tweeting, liking tweets, etc.) behind the subscription paywall. Almost as bad as Facebook in terms of being the scummiest company.

Overall good, with one annoying issue. The app seems to be preventing device from going to sleep…

Good app, but killed by Elon musk. Elon suspend all third-party twitter app

Subscription for nothing. I have nothing to pay for you. If you thinking you can cut day/night theme change and get money for this every month, good luck! I bought previous version but I will not pay all time. I will pay twitter more than you. And will get more future

So long…. Late: Twitter Lamented: Tweetbot

59 cents refund?!!. I didn’t expect to get back anything because the App was broken long before current management decided to cut their APIs! I also stopped using this App long before that - and ended my subscription about 6 months ago. Today, I received an email that I will receive 59 cents refund! Now, I am not sure how these developers came up with this number but looking at their new invention (another App for yet another Twitter wannabe) and how high they expect people to pay - I am not surprised how cheap they are! The problem is that it (refund) is actually an insult NOT a warm / honest invitation to give developers another chance and pay them more $$.

Complete as it can be. I can only say good thing about that app. It’s working well, allow me to have things on chronological order with the number of tweets still to read to catch up with my feed. On top of it, real nice change log to let me know what’s up with every update. Btw I laughed and choose an owls icon because of it. I don’t know who is Mark, but thanks. Now I still expect Twitter will allow you api to let you keep up with that nice app. I wouldn’t be still on Twitter without Tweetbot as I’m no longer on Facebook. (Maybe a client for Facebook from you is already considered)

Subscription. Subscribe to follow?

Great value. For $8 CA per year, I get a beautiful and customizable Twitter client, without ads and that doesn’t track me. Just compare Tweetbot and Twitter privacy “sheets” on the App Store. It’s not even close. Definitely worth the small yearly amount.

It’s great, bite the bullet and subscribe. So here’s the deal: I love Tweetbot because it is so much better than the native Twitter client, but I despise the subscription model like everyone else. Hate it with a passion. Yes, it would be better if apps just charged for major updates instead of subscription, because most apps just aren’t worth the subscription asking prices, and renting software is user hostile. Most developers can go to hell with their subscription models. However, I am willing to make an exception in this case, because their subscription price is pretty darn cheap, and it is pretty much what you would pay if you had to upgrade every year anyway. The Twitter API is a moving target. If the developers don’t stay on top of it, the app functionality will eventually die. So for that reason, I am willing to give the developers my money. You should too. This app is great. The ability to strip ads away from your timeline alone is worth the price of admission.

Expensive subscription. Seriously. The previous version does exactly the same thing but without the expensive monthly payments. I’d rather pay once.

The best Twitter app.. Get this one.

App is nice. Really cool app to use Twitter however been a very long time without any news. Also the history of new app instead of a new update is really bad. I wonder if I lost track and there is a new paid app by now.

Best bird app ever. Until Musk the clown took over 😔

Dumb. What a dumb app. What’s the point of making it a free download when you can’t even do basic things like tweeting or liking stuff. I don’t use Twitter just to browse my timeline sorted badly. 😒

A great 12 year run. The app no longer works due to the incompetent new owner of Twitter. Tweetbot was an absolutely incredible app for over 12 years, and was really the only thing keeping Twitter usable. The developers were constantly innovating and making the app better for customers. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Tapbots.

Thank you, Tapbots. Tweetbot has been my most-used app every single day since its release in 2011. While the official Twitter experience degraded over the years, Tweetbot’s features and chronological feed have kept the service a delight to use. It deserved a better end. Mark and Paul, thank you. I can’t wait for Ivory!

Pay to unfollow? Bait and switch. NOT free.. Don’t you dare say it’s free in any sense of the word. If I have to pay to unfollow someone, that isn’t free, that a shady way to do business. Happy Twitter is crashing and burning, I hope this app goes down with it. I have paid for this app for two years now, my sub lapsed and I didn’t realize until I tried to unfollow someone and was met with a “you must be subscribed to do this.” And with that, you will never get another dime. All you had to do was not be like every other money grubbing twit, but no.

Keep coming back to Tweetbot. I’ve tried all the other clients like Aviary, Fenix, Twitterific, etc. and I always get back to Tweetbot. None of those others compare to this app. It just works, right out of the gate, no problems, no “missing” tweets from my feed (Aviary still gets this wrong). I happily paid the $5/yr subscription for Tweetbot 6. Thanks for making a great Twitter client!

The best gets better!. Tweetbot has always been the best Twitter client. Over the years they’ve lost features from no fault of their own when Twitter started limiting 3rd party API’s. That has changed. Twitter seems to be changing course and letting developers implement more features into their apps, which is a huge win for Tweetbot. Excited to see what comes next!

Excellent app, well worth the subscription. Miles better than the official Twitter app and well worth the subscription - I’ve used this app since the iPhone 4 and have gladly paid for upgrades for iOS and the Mac App. Never regretted it, especially when friends in my TL post about how annoying the official Twitter app is.

Much better than the actual Twitter app. I use Twitter as a massive news feed, etc and have for years. I don’t tweet but I read a lot and I can tell you switching to this app on both mac and iOS has been so nice. It’s smooth, we’ll designed and gives me the options I want.

Amazing timeline, horrible Trending section. I love this app! I just wish it was easier to follow what is currently trending. The filtering is weak for the Trends section. Following a trend like #UkraineRussiaWar leads to a ton of unverified accounts just posted anything they want. It’s not putting news at the top and doesn’t care what country or source the posts come from. Using filters does not fix this.

Pour One Out. I’m honestly heartbroken that this app no longer works due to api changes by Twitter. Been using this app for what now? A decade? I knew the official app was bad but I’ve now been officially realizing just how bad it got unfortunately. I have no intention to move to mastodon if the sports/tech writers I follow aren’t moving either but I’ll happily pay for ivory when it’s released to continue to support these guys.

It’s not their fault. They didn’t break any API rule. Space Karen just decided to arbitrarily block all the popular Twitter clients because he prefers you use their horrible first party app so that he can keep showing you garbage posts from people you don’t follow and ads. If you rate this app 1-star, you are being a tool.

Twitter API block updates. Is there any way that Tapbots can give users/subscribers updates on the future of Tweetbot? Is there a reason for patiently waiting for a resolution w Tw, or is there no hope and it’s time to delete the app from our devices? I have appreciated the Tweetbot app. It’s so good that I’m too spoiled to revert to original Twitter on the web or mobile app. Too frustrating. Update please? By news media or elsewhere, since we can’t communicate but tweets anymore.

Disappointed in subscription model. Always loved Tweetbot. I understand that funding software development is hard, but I vastly preferred Tapbots’ approach of releasing major versions of the app as paid upgrades. Subscription fatigue has set in, and I’m tired of not feeling like I own the software running on my device.

Love this app!. Typical TapBots quality, I liked this app initially and the devs have been providing frequent updates, even as they are limited by what Twitter’s API allows slowly. I had been using the official app because I enjoy list pinning and swipe between timelines but now that it’s in Tweetbot, I just deleted the official app. Great work!!!

Tweetbot 6 > Twitter app. While the new Twitter API still leaves much to be desired, what the lovely Tapbot team have done with it in Tweetbot 6 is just overall a great user experience. From the design to the functionality, this is a well crafted piece of software that deserves a spot on page one of your homepage. Good job team, I knew I’ve stuck around since V1 for a reason.

Elon musk ruined my favorite app. This was my favorite twitter app. Without this wonderful app twitter feels terrible. While I’m super sad that I will never be able to use this app again, I’m super thankful for the time I did get with it. Hopefully Elon Musk fails at his venture and in the future 3rd party apps can resurrect. This app will forever be in my top 10 apps. I’ve ever used.

Solid experience, but still missing some things. This is a really great app that makes it actually feel good to use Twitter. I never write reviews for apps. I genuinely love this app. That said, and understanding that it’s still in early access, there are a few features I’m hopeful the devs will work on adding next. Chiefly, the ability to access and add tweets to your bookmarks, and the ability to quickly share tweets to a Twitter DM. Otherwise, I’m loving it!

Thank you. I switched between this and Twitterrific quite a bit over the last decade or so and I loved the aesthetic and powerful features in a unique, careful design. With the API cutoff by that narcissistic idiot and his goons, I was genuinely sad to let this one go, but can’t wait to throw money your way for Ivory! Thanks for everything—Tweetbot deserved a better ending, but it was money well-spent!

RIP Tweetbot. For 12 years Tweetbot was the best Twitter client. But now Twitter has turned into a cesspool and the new owner decided to kill off the 3rd party clients. I deleted my Twitter account as soon as Elon became involved and moved over to Mastodon. The developers at Tapbots who made Tweetbot are wonderful and are releasing a Mastodon App called Ivory that will undoubtedly become the new Tweetbot of the fediverse

Thank You Tweetbot. The dedication, innovation, and ingenuity you’ve put into this app for over a decade has been a bedrock of defining modern app development. The software world has much to learn from you still and cannot survive ignoring the boundaries you’ve broken. For innovators like you, the road ahead is still bright.

Tweetbot IS Twitter. Since Elon broke Tweetbot, Twitter is broken. It’s amazing how good design can make such a difference, but difference it did make, and that was to make browsing Twitter both easy and a pleasure. I’m going to miss the people I followed, but I won’t miss Tweetbot so much if Ivory is half as good. I’ve faith that it will be even better.

Subscription? No, not worth it.. I’ve used this app since version 3. Every once in a while these guys create a newer version as a new app and require you to pay the full price again. There was no discount for previous version users. And they delete older versions from the store. Finally, the subscription plan came out. I would say, NO. Whether this app is way better than an official app or not, still depends on the official API and has limited functionality. I’m not gonna pay every month just for a tiny improvement. Not worth it, will never be worth it.

So far so good. I’m really enjoying this new update, especially when you can see more article pictures instead of clicking the link. I’m not sure if I missed it but I can’t seem to find a feature to mute/muffle specific topics. I hate when social media ruins a show by posting spoilers. If there’s a way to mute/muffle these for a specific duration that would be great. Other than that it’s a solid app.

The best part about using Twitter was Tweetbot. This is hands down one of my top 3 favorite apps on iOS. Such a shame what Twitter is doing to them, because Twitter’s own app can’t even hold a candle next to what Tapbots created. To the developers: Thank you for creating such an incredible experience. Ivory is so good already and I can’t wait for it to launch!

THANK YOU FOR BEING THE BEST!. I've used various versions of Tweetbot for years and years and it was literally the most used app on my phone for many of these years. Thank you to the developers for the incredible experience - It saddens me greatly that it is going away, along with my Twitter usage all together! Until perhaps the next person buys Twitter (🤞🏽🙏🏽), so long!

Elon nuked it without warning. Stop giving Tweetbot one-star reviews for something they have no control over. For over a decade this app made Twitter usable. Now that it’s just become Elon’s attempt to recoup the $44,000,000,000 he overspent, I have no use for the official app. It’s awful in every single way. Hoping Tweetbot works at some point in the future, but for now RIP Tweetbot. Thanks to Tapbots for all their hard-work.

One of the best apps going rogue. Live the app, love the developers and have been a loyal user till Twitter screw ups that limited usage of third party apps. However, subscription??? Agree with other reviewers saying you should charge for feature updates but NOT subscriptions. This trend is insane and not justified. Really disappointed in the model, hope you reconsider. You are one of the few app developers I really admire for the quality of your work…don’t ruin it with mainstream commercialism.

Love the look. This app is def appeasing to the eyes; having different themes and a few fonts. It allows you to quote, retweet and share GIFs which is rarely found on 3rd party apps. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is bcos this app does not provide who ‘liked’ your tweet. You can view the ‘like’, but not who ‘likes’ it. Besides that, I def recommend this app.

RIP Tweetbot. A happy user for years. It expanded my knowledge and horizons. It’s sad Twitter stopped the third party apps from working. Regular Twitter website and “official” app are so frustrating. I’m sad Twitter didn’t just find a way to work together with the third party apps. Alas. Can’t express my appreciation strongly enough for the Tweetbot guys. It was worth so much more to me than the minimal yearly subscription cost. Thanks for the memories.

One of my favorites. Aside from my web browser, Tweetbot has been the most opened app on my device for over ten years. I opened it instinctively. I can only hope that Twitter will unblock it, or at least work with Tapbots in some way. If not, at least I can still continue to wear my Tapbots t-shirt once Ivory hits the App Store.

It’s fine. The app is a fine improvement over the last major version. Seeing polls is nice, having alerts is nice, and the subscription price is solid enough. Not being able to vote in polls is pretty big knock against it, given it was one of two real features to justify the costs to users.

This made all the difference.. The features of Tweetbot are what made the difference for me. The difference between considering Twitter to be the hellsite and truly, genuinely, daily bringing me joy. I will buy Ivory the moment I can, and in the meantime I’ll keep Tweetbot installed just in case. Thank you Tapbots for engineering this tool that provided me so much delight over the years. ♥️

Better than the twitter app. Been using this app for over 10 years and it’s been amazing till Elon decided to eliminate his competition. Been using their mastodon client and it’s exactly like tweetbot. Makes it feel like the old days of twitter before the ads and algorithms ruined it. Long live tweetbot

Just the best. One of my standby apps for… a decade?! Tweetbot made Twitter usable, even when the platform itself was doing its darndest to be unpleasant. Multiple account support, filters, lists, everything worked a treat and was a delight to use. I know this review won’t matter, but y’all deserve it anyway. RIP, and looking forward to the official Ivory release

Really terrible.. I hadn’t used this app on any regular basis for years until last night when third-party clients went down. It’s hard to overstate the horrible shock of moving over. Every useful feature is buried and all of the monetization is brought to the forefront without and regard for the user experience. Other platforms like Tumblr and Mastodon suddenly seem that much more enticing. They don’t have all the people I follow, but it’s hard to see those folks’ content anyway when it’s been shuffled by the algorithm to obscurity. It’s sad that the company and its leadership seem to have no idea why people use their app.

Made Twitter Usable. The official Twitter app is awful, but Tweetbot made it actually nice to use. 3rd party Twitter clients invented so many of the things that are today considered a core part of the Twitter experience. RTs, hashtags, even Search. Tweetbot had the ability to mute accounts long before it was added to the actual Twitter app. So long Tweetbot, I’m sorry a thin-skinned billionaire killed you and the other 3rd party Twitter clients.

It’s good. Have paid for and used the app (on both iOS and Mac) for many years... the latest update unfortunately added very little in the way of useful functionality. Still the core features are great and it’s prob the best UX for Twitter, but I don’t think it’ll last much longer.

Game changer. The ability to tap the timeline to switch lists is a game changer. I love Tweetbot. I’ve been using Tweetbot as my primary Twitter app since v3, but the extra taps to change lists has been my primary reason to move back to using the stock Twitter app. As soon as I saw Tweetbot updated to make switching lists easier, I knew I could leave the stock Twitter app behind once again. Great job!

Infrequent updates for a subscription app. I’ve been a Tweetbot user from day one, paying for every version released for both iOS & Mac while subscribing from day one as well. It’s rather unfortunate to see that the developer has evidently abandoned this app, as it hasn’t received a single update in over 8 months. Thus, it hasn’t even been updated to support the newest features of iOS 16 to include the dynamic island. Devs of subscription apps owe it to their subscribers to push out regular updates.

Nice update. Come on guys ! Don’t complain about the subscription model, it’s just $6 a year, you spend more on a fancy coffee that you don’t even like , if you are a Twitter fan it’s a fact that you are gonna use this app every day of the year , let’s support the developers, it’s a nice app ! No ads, your timeline will look clean, I’d recommend this to everyone.

Stopped Updating App after moving to Yearly Subscription. At this point, it seems like the developers have abandoned this app. They moved to a subscription model where you pay a yearly fee 11 months ago, and their last app update was 10 months ago. This app used to be good back in the day, but they removed tons of features a while back and now it’s basically junk. I only use it for chronological timeline and position sync, and there are plenty of alternatives that do that (and more).

Fast, compact, efficient. Tweetbot is a Twitter client for iOS and OS X. It includes all the features Twitter allows. Missing: threaded tweets, long history, slow delivery of DMs. What you get: an app that works, is fast, and delivers what it promises. Tweetbot has one feature not available in Twitter native clients is the ability to delete a tweet. Highly recommended.

A good ad free Twitter app, but a little wonky. This app is a very solid one for browsing Twitter ad free. However, it misses the mark in a few areas. Firstly, please let us customize or disable the secondary swipe right to reply thing. Its way too sensitive, and I find myself accidentally starting up a reply far too often when I just want to like a post. Secondly, please axe the unnecessary "tossing a photo away" animation when you close a photo. It's horribly slow, and feels like a speedbump in the pace of an otherwise quick and snappy app. And thirdly, it would be very nice to have some sort of "media only" tab for browsing users profiles. As someone who follows a lot of artists, this would be helpful to discover their art.

Makes you pay every month yet bugs linger. I’m a fan. I’ve bought so many versions of this and now pay monthly and previously it has been worth it. However, it is almost unusable on iOS 15. Swipe too close to the edge and you’ll have to force quit. Constant lags and delays. If you’re going to have the gall to charge a subscription for a small utility app that thing should be bulletproof with routine updates. Tweetbot is not that.

Very lovely app!. It’s a great app! Much nicer than Twitter’s first party app and so much smoother. It’s a much nicer experience, especially with the tiny little details like the image flying away when you swipe off of it in full screen. The only thing I’d suggest is being able to see regular notifications, such as recent tweets/retweets of yours that people have liked as well as tweets from people you have notifications on for. Otherwise absolutely amazing app!

been a user since the beginning. We probably all deserve a better ending, but as that comes with the recent decisions I just wanted to say this is the best application I’ve used on iOS over the years. It is actually so good it kept me purchasing apple hardware for over a decade now. Just want to say thanks to the developers, and best of luck to whatever comes next.

Subscription!? 🙇🏻‍♂️. Been using Tweetbot since version 1. Was excited to see an updated version. Disappointed that they went the subscription route. Maybe I’m old fashioned but I miss the days where purchasing an app was a onetime deal. At least you could decide on whether you wanted the features of a major upgrade rather 🤷🏻‍♂️ Obviously this review is limited because I have not signed up. I suspect it will work wonderfully given their historically amazing app. But I guess I’m stuck in read only mode for now.

Do not get Not worth the subscription. Lame updates App it doesn’t release many updates and nothing much changes. Depends to much on twitter API for any cool features to be implemented. The app can be so much better if they worked on actually making it better. It’s not a free app so there should be more work put into it. Take advantage of screen size more customization for the user. Viewing images shouldn’t be hard Many things like UI can be changed and further customization should be done. Make the app feel better than the stock twitter app and a cleaner look. Twitter iffic is better

Everything is fine, but not without flaws.. Everything is fine, but not without flaws. I would like it to be possible to like a post with a double click or slide. In general, I like everything, I bought a paid subscription to support the developer.

Great app, don’t enjoy needing to pay for a subscription to use the app.. I’ve used Tweetbot since version 2, and I think it is hands down the best app for Twitter. I have purchased this app for my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook every time there was a new version released and I had to pay for it. I didn’t mind it because it was new, a massive update, and I could use it as I wanted. Now there is a subscription to use all of the features of the app and that’s annoying. I don’t understand why the developer wouldn’t just charge a one time fee and be done with it. I’m more apt to do that then sign up for yet another subscription.

The best. The folks at Twitter have no idea what they’re destroying by removing Tweetbot’s access to their platform. Tweetbot is thoughtful, useful, and wonderful to use software, and I plan on supporting these developers in whatever endeavor they choose next. I know a lot of people are piling on, but my goodness no one at Twitter knows what they’re doing right now. Without this software, I have no plans on ever returning to the service.
