If you liked Tweetbot, you'll like Ivory. As a longtime Tweetbot user, I was not happy to see it cease to function after the bird site shutdown API access. I started uising Mastodon and found the existing clients lacking. While there are now several good clients available, I have stuck with Ivory. The Tapbots developers listen to their users, and are quick to fix bugs and enhance features. The only thing I find lacking is search functionality - I often come up with empty results, when the same search in a diferent client results in several items.

Clean. Concise. Multi-columns. The Tapbots developers have hit a homerun again with this app. You can tell they have spent tons of time and put a lot of care into this app. It has been rock-solid since day 1. The interface is clean and intuitive and they have ironed out some of mastadon's own rough edges, providing easy onboarding even if you don't have a mastadon account yet. The multi-columns from Tweetbot are here. Love it!

Great App, Missing Features. This app is great! It has most of the features of Mastodon and is (in my opinion) by far one of the best Mastodon clients for iOS. However, there are a few features which this app is missing. 1. The ability to manage filters. Although the UI for managing filters is there, it doesn’t save your filters from the web UI. This is especially problematic considering I have a list of NSFW filters I made on the web UI, and now I have to go to the web UI to edit them. 2. No emoji picker There is no emoji picker, so I can’t use any of my instance’s emojis. 3. Custom emojis don’t show in posts Custom emojis used don’t show in posts. Instead, the name is what is rendered. This is weird considering there’s already a “badges” feature that moves emojis in someone’s name to their avatar. I would give this app five stars were these basic features implemented. Thank you for making a great app.

Already the best way to access Mastodon. The guys at Tapbots did an amazing job of taking their years of experience with Tweetbot and applying it to Mastodon. Even though they’re not finished with all of the items on their roadmap, this is already my favorite way to access Mastodon. I can’t wait to see it evolve and grow even better from here.

No Place Like Home. As a dedicated and unwavering Tweetbot user, one of the most jarring parts of picking up Mastodon was finding an app that suited me. There are a number of clients and they all have ideas, some of them are even good, but for my timeline the Tapbots feel is what my eyes and hands need and now here they are. I used Ivory in beta, it felt great on day one, every update feels even better. Could not smash the subscription button fast enough, very excited for what’s to come!

The Real Twitter. The gold standard of Mastodon clients. Even in its early release stage, it is far better than any app on the market. And Tweetbots is a company you can trust to keep improving the app. For years, Tweetbot by Tapbots was the real Twitter for me, no ads, no algorithmic timelines, pure greatness. Now that Space Karen has ruined Twitter as a service, Mastodon has replaced Twitter as the backend. This had some serious rough edges. With the release of Ivory by Tapbots, it just feels like home.

The perfect Mastodon client, and still getting better. I've used Ivory since its early testing period on an iPhone and then on Mac, and watching Tapbots constantly improve it has been inspirational. They took feedback well, particularly in helping add descriptive text to images, something many people want and need. The experience takes Mastodon, already a great federated service that continues to evolve, and makes into something vibrant. It's easy for me to say that without Ivory, I'd be enjoying Mastodon much less, as Ivory fits my brain perfectly. It's great having the same client and same approach now on my iPhone and on my Mac.

Refreshing. Honestly the app is still beta but I can see it getting better as they implement more of mastodon’s api since I’ve also used the tweetbot client before (rest in paradise). The integration with SwiftUI is awesome and smooth with some good customization options for the end user. So far I’m happy enough to subscribe since it’s not to costly, I do hope that out of the subscriptions revenue they generate that they may potentially create a free version of this in the spirit of mastodon being open source and what not. That would be amazing I’d still be happily subscribe even if that’s the case to support the dev team.

Great on iOS, great on the Mac. I've loved using Ivory on iOS for the last several months - it has become my primary Mastodon client and it's the main way I interact with social media. But typing a long thread is easier on the Mac, so I'm glad to see Ivory come to the Mac! It's got the same great UI polish and touches I've come to expect from Tapbots. I love being able to keep my place in the timeline across devices, or easily just pop open my laptop to reply to something that requires more typing. The Ivory UI also does a good job of surfacing Mastodon features that I forget even exist. Great stuff - so happy it's here!

Best mobile app for Mastodon!. I know this is still the early release but it is designed beautifullyand flows so well i’m enthusiastically supporting it and loving it. Great support for timelines, local and federated. Statistics for seeing social vanity metrics. Fast performance and smooth scrolling through all timelines and sync between devices. Much love from Universeodon Instance. oh.. a gift keyboard. Cant wait to see what the future holds on the fediverse with apps like Ivory

Best app. Best platform.. I never, ever, ever write reviews, so I can promise you I mean this: TapBots has a reputation for building intuitive, aesthetically lovely apps, and this is definitely another win. Getting into Mastodon can be intimidating, but the fact that Ivory’s UI mimics TweetBot’s (RIP) makes it a heck of a lot easier to make the jump. I’ve tried a lot of Masto clients over the last couple years, and there’s no question that this is by far the best. I was ticked at EM for hobbling all 3p apps, but the one and only good thing was that it let the TB crew push this fantastic client out a little faster. Well done, folks!

Awesome. I was an avid Tweetbot user but had to give it up when I left Twitter last year. When I saw Tapbots was making a Mastodon app, I knew it would be the app for me and boy was I right. I’ve been using it for a bit now since I was lucky enough to get into the beta and have had no problems. It’s intuitive, which is saying a lot since Mastodon can be quite confusing. It reminds me so much of Tweetbot it’s like seeing an old friend again. What else can I say but the app just works and looks amazing. Well worth the subscription.

Perfect app for Mastodon. Talbots has been making apps for a very long time and Ivory shows this experience and attention to detail perfectly. This app is way ahead of the other Mastodon clients in look and finish yet it is still in Early Access. This is because the tap or folks are never satisfied with “good enough“ and strive for great. If you are looking for a great app for Mastodon you just cannot go wrong with Ivory.

Wish Free Version had more functionality. Free version only allows viewing — you can’t post, comment, like, retweet, etc. I understand the financial needs of development, but wish I could at least like and retweet posts. For such a small social media network, it definitely needs more interaction to survive + knowing most users are going to use this client for free, I don’t want to see larger creators leave the Mastodon platform because of little interaction. I usually don’t feel the need to use 3rd party clients for software, but the official Mastodon app is really confusing. This guys really clean and makes me want to use the service much more. Great app. Sad to see what happened with Twitter.

Expensive app with little pricing transparency. Quality of the app is great. You can’t save gifs or videos in this app. Also they aren’t transparent on what features you’re paying for. You just have to guess around until you run into paywalls. Knowing the features let’s me assess the value. Existing functions are great but the lack of download options for media and pricing transparency has me doubting whether I’m going to continue to use this beyond free trial vs metatext.

Well Worth It - Like Coming Home. This app is one of the smoothest, well functioning Mastodon apps on the market today. Tapbots do incredible work as a small team to turn out this level of craftsmanship and quality. For apps like this to exist, they need to make money and I am more than happy to pay them to continue their incredible work. It’s odd to me how many people can buy a $600-$1500 device and not be ok paying a few dollars a month for quality apps to run on that device. Seems like an odd choice to me but what do I know?

These Are The Droids You’re Looking For. If you used Tweetbot on Twitter Ivory is Tweetbot for Mastodon. If you didn’t use Tweetbot then Ivory is simply one of the most polished Mastodon clients available. Keep in mind that Ivory is in early release stage so all the features that the developers want Ivory to do are not complete. But even in this early release form Ivory is a better experience than the many other Mastodon clients I have tried. I trust the guys at Tapbots to keep adding features and innovating on what a premium Mastodon client can do and that’s why I didn’t hesitate to hit the premium subscription button.

They are back!. This app is great. It feels like being home. Everything is so familiar after using tweetbot for years. Everything is where I expect it to be and it works the way I want it to work. Everything is chronological and synced to iCloud and it makes sense when I use the app. Support Tapbots. They made a great app.

A great app from a reliably fantastic dev team. Already a great app hustled out in record time, and only going to get better as the Mastodon/ActivityPub ecosystem grows and Tapbots have more time to put into improving and expanding the capabilities of Ivory. One of the rare apps where I couldn't wait to give the devs my money—and the same goes for the Mac app when it's ready.

Like Tweetbot, but better.. Tweetbot was the only reason why I liked Twitter. The experience delivered by it was unrivalled. Ivory feels even better. A lot of the shortcomings of Tweetbot were due to artificial constraints set by Twitter that are not relevant in Mastodon. Ivory will undoubtedly become what the vision of the folks at Tapbots has always been. This is the social media experience we all deserve!

Ivory is awesome even in early access. Loved tweetbot for a long time, love Ivory as well. You should know there are some rough edges, but the level of polish of this app more than makes for it. The public roadmap helps understand what's coming up. Def worth the subscription price, but if you're unconvinced, you can use their 7 days free trial.

Great App but charges for basic features. I’ve been having a good time using the app and I’m really hopeful that one day mastodon will be a suitable replacement for Reddit after the whole mess they’ve been causing this past month. I just have one issue right now. I’ve been trying to use the search function to find new users to follow and it keeps telling me “no posts found” “search may not be enabled on this instance.” I downloaded the regular mastodon app to try the same searches there and it worked just fine. Is this an issue stemming from not having a paid account or just a bug in the app? Editing my review. Still a great app but I realized that aside from my issues with searching which is a whole problem in itself. I cannot even follow or unfollow users without a subscription. This is kind of a dealbreaker for me and even though the app is cleanly designed and pretty smooth to use I can’t get behind paywalling features that should be stock. I would give an easy 4 or even 5 stars if this was not the case

My Favorite Mastodon App. I was a years-long Tweetbot for user. To me, it delivered the best Twitter experience on iOS for its design, easy navigation, and reliably fast performance. I’ve been using Ivory since its alpha, and I can confidently say that it brings the best of Tweetbot to Mastodon. While still in early preview, Ivory comes packed with features and a roadmap for more. The new set of open-ended interface icons play off the mastodon’s trunk, providing whimsy and a handcrafted luxury feel. It’s hard to explain, but the icons add a feel to Ivory that’s really pleasant. Tapbots hit a home run with Ivory, and I believe it will be the standard bearer for Mastodon apps on iOS. Ivory will certainly attract more users to Mastodon with its awesome user experience.

Really pretty but…. missing a few important functions, namely: a mute button, the ability to search and follow hashtags, and the ability to search for specific accounts. I’m going to keep my subscription for another few months in the hope that updates are coming because Ivory looks great and is super-customizable. But for now, I’m sticking with Metatext.

By far the best Mastodon client ever made.. Tweetbot was unceremoniously killed by Twitter in January, but Ivory takes Tweetbot to the next level. It makes the Mastodon experience so much better, has a native iOS design, and feels buttery smooth with no hiccups or glitches. It’s worth $15. It’s worth $25. It’s one of the best apps ever made for the iPhone ever. Don’t hesitate; get it.

It’s nicely made but missing some features. This app is clean and well done. But it’s missing some of the main features that the web version has. The main one that it’s missing is hashtags in the search function. On the site you can see the trending hashtags but in the app they are nowhere to be found. I’d say if they brought that to the client it would be the only client I used as it’s clean and fast.

Great app, new custom emoji picker isn't good. Ivory is spectacular. 7/5 stars. My only complaint is that in the most recent update, the standard emoji picker was removed in favor of a custom emoji picker. Now the only way to get standard macOS emoji is via keyboard shortcut. I don't use custom emoji so I find this cluttery and weirdly non-platform-compliant. Please go back to native controls with an additional option for those who do want custom emoji!

So good I quit Twitter over it. I used Tweetbot for many, many years. When Elon Musk killed Tweetbot's access to Twitter, I killed my access to Twitter, and canceled my account. The writing is on the wall with Mastodon, and now Instagram's P92, and the twitter offshoot Bluesky ... federated/decentralized social networks will eat the world, and I expect Ivory (or sister apps) to be there with a great user experience.

Ivory has surprising polish at launch. Ivory is both easy on the eye and easy to use, even on iPad Mini-5 which gives other Mastodon apps layout fits. The photo chooser is quite nice giving access to all Photos albums and proper layout and sizing. Image description editor works correctly. Ivory controls layout makes access to most Mastodon capabilities easy and intuitive. Features missing at launch include followed hashtag access and posted post editing.

Good, but lacks critical features. I will start off with the positives: first, the UX is amazing, as expected from Tapbots. It feels polished and well-built. However, after months of development it is still missing features that I would consider critical, such as custom instance emoji. At least in my social sphere, custom emoji are used heavily and it can be very confusing to follow a conversation when they are not supported. I understand that the app is in “early access” (which I’m surprised Apple allows, given App Store Review Guideline 2.2: ”Demos, betas, and trial versions of your app don’t belong on the App Store – use TestFlight instead”), however it seems strange to charge a subscription for an incomplete product. Updates are few and far between, often taking several months. I would prefer a quicker development cycle with more piecemeal additions. I will be unsubscribing and switching to a different client, and may come back in the future when the app is more complete.

Another Phenomenal App by Tapbots. Tweetbot was my most used app by a mile, so I was heartbroken when it was abruptly killed by Twitter. Thankfully, Mastodon is far more welcoming to 3rd parties than Twitter ever was, and it shows with Ivory — Ivory is basically the Tweetbot we could’ve had if Twitter cared about 3rd party devs. Incredibly well polished like you’d expect, and with features Tweetbot could never support like in-app voting on polls and real time notifications. Thanks for everything Tapbots 🫡

Price is real hard to justify. I’m not sure why I should consider paying $15/year perpetually for this app. It’s visually pleasing, for sure. But it doesn’t offer anything that several other Mastodon clients don’t already offer, for free or way less money. I could see the cost if there was a special Mastodon hosted instance they were offering. But without any true standout features, I think most people would be better served with one of the equally-attractive and even more feature full alternatives. Some of which are open source software, even.

Another Excellent App from Tapbots!. The tapbot boys have done it again. Under some circumstances that weren’t fair to them at all from a service that we all know, they beat the odds and got this wonderful app pushed out to the world. They may be missing some features here and there but they have a strong community supporting them (including myself) and I have no doubt they will implement the missing features very soon.

Provides a very polished Mastodon experience. They say it’s “Early Access”, but I’ve been enjoying the app so far and don’t notice much missing. Back in the Twitter days, I just used the official Twitter app, but for Mastodon this is just so much more polished than the official app. The subscription is very cheap for something you use multiple times a day. Great work by the developers, and I look forward to seeing what they do with this over the coming years.

A bit slow to load. I subscribed to support after what happened with Tweetbot, which I used for a decade. That said I’ve been finding this app slightly frustrating. My home (feed?) takes very long to load, and it always takes multiple taps of the status bar to finally get to the top and see the newest posts (toots?). I only check in once in a blue moon, so I think I probably have a lot more unread to catch up on than the average. I’d love an option to just start at the top of the feed, or better yet be able to go to the top with one tap of the status bar. With the official Mastodon client I don’t have this issue, one tap always brings me to the top of the home feed.

Tweetbot reborn. I have used Tweetbot as my go to Twitter client for the better part of the last 10 years. Recent events have pushed me not only away from Tweetbot (involuntarily) but also voluntarily away from Twitter. I found a new home in Mastodon but the none of the available apps, while all good in their own ways, were able to make my experience of the service as smooth and frustration-free as Ivory has. Fantastic app that I’m proud to support.

A Better Experience. I created a Mastodon account last year just in case. I only used Safari to access it. Had used Tweetbot for years as my primary Twitter access but Twitter kept throwing monkey wrenches into its functions. Then killed it. Ivory makes Mastodon a true pleasure. When, or if, more of the posters/accounts I hope to follow appear here this will be the best way to do it.

Fedi-ready! Way to go, Tapbots!. I've sought refuage from the big datafarms of social media in the Fediverse, and wound up finding communities I want to participate in where the people are polite and kind. I run my own instance (soc-kvet-ch) and have used a dozen different clients and apps and Ivory is hands-down the best-in-slot choice for me. If you are interested in privacy, security, knowledge work, productivity, gaming and open source projects Mastodon is amazing and more accessible than any other platform of it's kind. So glad Tapbots are here, I feel like this is a hail mary but it's a beautiful throw, love and respect to all of you and yours.

Fantastic.. This app makes Mastodon incredible. Worth every penny, the guys at Tapbots have done it again. I loved Tweetbot. It WAS Twitter for me. When that experience was taken away due to Twitter shutting down the third party API with no warning, it changed how I felt about using Twitter. With Ivory, Mastodon now has the same feel I used to love, and in a much more sustainable, and better, social media platform. Definitely give Mastodon a try if you haven’t yet… and if you do, get this app… it’s fantastic!

Ivory makes Mastodon a delight for my brain. I’ve tried a bunch of Mastodon iOS clients, but the beautiful Ivory by the brilliant folks at Tapbots is just right for my brain. The design is polished and delightful, from the appearance to the sounds, and the interactions just make sense and expose Mastodon features that the official iOS app omit entirely. This is the Mastodon client I’ve wanted since I joined the Fediverse in April.

My Favorite Client. I’ve messed around with a handful of Mastodon clients (and the web version) and this is easily my favorite. Has all the features I need and I trust the development will continue to include even more nice things. I can’t really say anything bad about the experience, perhaps someone that has very specific needs could find an issue, but this app makes the Mastodon experience fluid, simple, and fun.

Best. Mastodon. Client.. If you enjoyed using Tweetbot, then you’ll enjoy using Ivory even more. I’ve tried many Mastodon clients since joining in November 2022, and this is by far my favorite. Yes, I’m biased because I was a longtime Tweebot user and Ivory feels like home. The app is good in its own right. The interface is nice looking and easy to use. There aren’t an over abundance of options to overwhelm you. It’s well worth the money if you frequently use Mastodon.

Ivory. Half baked mastodon client rushed out because developers put all their eggs into Twitter's basket. Missing a ton of features. now, I know it's new but these dev's expect us to pay for beta quality. they claim other apps do the same, I'd like to them to point out which mastodon clients require their users to pay for beta. that said, I won't use ivory because of the short sightedness of these developer. I was invited to beta test Mona, get this, for free. anyways, good luck to tapbots. you did lose a customer. replying to this won't make a difference.

Makes Mastodon work for me. After many years of using Tweetbot as my Twitter client I tried to use the Twitter app. It didn’t work for me. I don’t mind ads and if Twitter had offered 3rd party access with ads even with a fee, I might have stayed there. That decided me to move to Mastodon. Ivory will keep me there because the experience is so much better than other Mastodon apps I explored. Thanks to Tapbots for bringing a first class experience to Mastodon. I’m glad you’ve set up a subscription model so you can pay your people and continue to innovate.

Ivory. Totally unfinished app that was rushed out. and it looks and feels as such. look, I was a fan of tweetbot. the fact this developer blew of mastodon until Twitter booted them and that isn't something I particularly care about. noty problem. so they rushed this product out thinking 10 years of blah blah will help them out. maybe it did, maybe it didn't. my main gripe is they expect us to pay for using their app and being beta testers. they fall back on "other apps are unfinished" which is true bit they aren't charging their users to beta test. anyways, I'm done testing this lackluster tweetbot clone. unless you pay me ofc.

Feels like home. This has the great experience for mastodon I was missing when Twitter shutdown 3rd party apps and my beloved Tweetbot was no longer able to function. I really love how familiar this app feels after migrating from twitter to mastodon. Can’t wait to see how great Indy developers, like Tapbots and others, build this community with fantastic apps like Ivory.

Best Mastodon Client. I was a huge fan of Tweetbot and so I’m happy to see the developers have come up with another great app! While I am not fully sold on Mastodon as a platform yet, I am a very curious person and am definitely keeping my eye on things. The performance of the user experience is a step up of competing apps and is the most compelling Mastodon experience yet.

Almost perfect, and I hope it reaches perfection soon. This app took the Masto world by storm due to the developers already being established awesome app devs for another service. Ivory is smooth, beautiful, and overall outstanding in every way. It is missing one function common in other apps… The ability to pin or save local timelines of instances without having to create separate accounts! The absence of this when so many other apps have it is why I hardly ever use Ivory now.

Delightful. This app has dramatically improved my mastodon experience - great as it was before! They’ve acknowledged their roadmap and seem to be making excellent progress. The team is communicative, helpful, and downright FUN! A lot of apps are functional, but I’m pleased to have discovered this one is functional and delightful! Keep up the excellent work.

Looks amazing, but missing one key feature I need…. There’s no :emojisupport: for keyboard warriors! Perhaps I just missed an option in the config, but I use this app on an iPad with a keyboard it takes me about 0.5 seconds to throw in an emoji by typing a colon + a few letters  versus having to take my hands off the keyboard, tap the screen a few times, put them back on the keyboard to search for an emoji, take hand off the keyboard again to tap the one I want… it’s 5 seconds minimum That’s a LOT of friction when I’m just trying to send a few quick replies and I’d love if you could add this feature. The web app has it, Tusky has it, and I even think the 1st party Mastodon app has it.

The best Mastodon experience. Together with Ivory for iOS and iPadOS this is the nicest way to interact with Mastodon

I shouldn't need to pay twice. Gorgeous app as expected from Tapbots. I always try to support devs, however I'm disappointed I'm expected to pay a subscription for both iOS and MacOS separately, especially since both apps are essentially the same.

Like finding an old friend. Tweetbot, the Twitter client from the same devs, made Twitter a joy to use. Like that app, Ivory has a smooth and responsive interface and a degree of finesse you can’t appreciate until you’ve tried. Ivory is still early release so it doesn’t have some of the niche features from older Mastodon clients. I haven’t missed any features from all the other Mastodon clients I’ve tried. However I expect they’ll get any worth having. Ivory features I did miss from other clients were: excellent filtering/muting support, and timeline search. The filtering is powerful and easy to use, far beyond simple word search, it can also filter based on content like links, images, or replies, or even patterns of text (regex). Local timeline filtering is amazing. It’s extremely useful when you want to find a post you’ve seen earlier, but you wouldn’t be able to find it in other clients’ limited search. Ivory lets you search within the posts you’ve scrolled past, using keywords, or useful filters to narrow it down. Without a subscription this app is read-only, that means you can’t post, you can’t follow. Worst case you can do that from the web interface. However I spend significantly more time reading Mastodon than I do drinking coffee each day, and full functionality costs less than a coffee a month. It is worth supporting the love and care they’ve put into making this app a joy to use. If you’re not sure then try it for their week long free trial. Free apps have been mentioned in other reviews. I’ve tried them all wishing I had Ivory. One or two are okay, but none are close. I think Metatext was the closest, but if you’re not sure try each for a week, with Ivory’s free trial, and see the difference. Ivory is already a lovingly made app, but in future I’m expecting the reliability, and attention to detail that I’ve come to expect having used their Twitter client for over a decade. They’ve earned my trust, and they’ve reinforced that here. However, they couldn’t have done it without the reliable income from being paid for their work, I’m happy to pay.

Great app. I’ve tried multiple apps since switching from the bird to Mastodon but none quite met exactly what I was looking for until Ivory. This app is great to use and has all the functionality in after, plus more’s coming, win win! Even better on iPad I might add. Great work Tapbots!

Basic functions require paid subscription. Locking basic functions behind a paid subscription is absolutely not what I expect from a mastodon social app. Most of your competitor apps offer those same function for free. You guys seriously overshot the mark here. This will be an instant uninstall.

So nice. Hands down the best Mastodon client for iOS

Subscription info is clear as mud. It looks like a neat & clean app, but “we’re not going to list our features” has turned me right off. What would I be getting for subscribing? No clue unless I painstakingly try to do a bunch of things to see where the paywalls are. Sure, there’s a free trial but how does that tell me anything useful? I have enough subscriptions going right now that “trust us, it’ll be great” isn’t doing it for me.

Home button function. This app is great but I would love to have an option to jump to the top of my feed by tapping the home button.

It’s simply the best. (DUN DUN DUN DUUUN) Better than all the rest (DUN DUN DUUUN) Better than any app (DUN DUN DUUUN) Any app I’ve ever used to access Mastodon

Yet another subscription. Another perfectly good app that could have been a once off purchase, but instead chose to be a never ending subscription.

Looks can only get you so far. Looks great, but have to pay to post to my own server. No thanks anyone with development skill can clone this app and make it free.

Excellent!. A well-polished Mastodon client that’s smooth and fast, and improving all the time. Great to see the core of Tweetbot enhanced and even better!

Fantastic. Slick and beautiful. Makes using Mastodon a joy. Everything you would expect from the makers of Tweetbot.

Definitely worth it. A high quality experience. Definitely the best of all the clients I’ve tried for, what I’ve found to be, the best of this new era’s social networks.

Great app, looking forward to more features. It's a great app, feels very solidly engineered, like their former twitter app...the only thing it lacks is it's not quite as feature rich. Once it gets there, it's a 5 star app.

Basic functionality requires a paid subscription. “We're not going to try and convince you to subscribe by listing out a bunch of features. A great experience is everything!” And yet simply trying to follow other users requires a paid subscription. What a great experience.

Best Mastodon client. Even better than tweet bot ever was

Great start, carrying the legacy of Tweetbot. It's great to see the legacy of Tweetbot live on - this is a great start to a Mastodon client. The (necessary) rush to market has left a few features behind, but the Tapbots team have communicated clearly about the roadmap and the velocity is there. Solid start, and supreme levels of polish and quality, as you'd expect.

Fantastic app. First, important to remember this is still an early access version so not every feature is available yet. The developers have listed their road map on their website so you can see everything coming and it is looking great. The level of polish that has been applied so far is fantastic and I can’t wait to see where they go.

The Best. Ivory is a beautiful, sensible, reliable app. When I first migrated to the fediverse, I was worried that the iOS & macOS tooling would be a barrier. I was wrong to worry! Having tried a *lot* of the available options, Ivory is the stand-out winner on every front.

Absolute rip-off. So many free Mastodon apps, and here comes Tapbot with another subscription laced app that doesn’t have half the features of free apps. Based on previous apps it’ll also be updated maybe once a year. Save your money and use any other app.

Great Mastodon Client. Absolutely beautifully designed client. Makes mastodon a join to use

The best UX of any Mastodon client. Something I keep saying to people, you can have a pretty UI or fancy features, but User Experience tops any of those any day. The years of experience running other social media apps and good UX background makes Ivory such a good way to experience Mastodon. From folding out action buttons to swiping to see detail, it’s turned Mastodon from something I’ll look at when bored (because the other apps were so clunky to use for any period of time) to a daily driver to interact with interesting people. The subscription price is reasonable for an app I am actively seeing development and investment in. Just pay the elephant, it’s well worth it.

Expensive. All the save expensive for a born social network… Especially since I still have a subscription to Tweetbot wich ends in april and is no longer of any use to me!

If you know, you know…. Makers of fine apps since 2008, these guys once made an app for weight-tracking and it was dope beyond description. Now they’ve made a Mastodon client. C’mon?!

Absolutely the best client for Mastodon. Looking for a Mastodon client for iOS… look no further , Ivory is it. It’s a masterpiece made by the developers behind Tweetbot, which itself was the choice client to use on Twitter

Amazing App. Another amazing App from a fantastic developer who really understands iOS aesthetics and UI design. The best Mastodon mobile App (i’ve tried them all). Please support this developer and their great work! Really looking forward to the coming MacOS version!

Makes Mastodon feel polished and enjoyable. I love the way that new posts are loaded — you never loose your place when scrolling through messages like you do with the official Mastodon app. This app makes Mastodon feel just as polished as Twitter!

It was the bot I loved all along. since tweetbot 1, I had a window to the world that I controlled and curated. all these years later, I realize what I really loved this whole time was the work of Tapbots. Thank you for making an amazing Mastodon app!

Finally !!. The world of Mastodon clients is split in two: there is Ivory on one side and the rest on the other.

Simply the best. It’s the only way to Mastodon! There’s a lot of new clients out there but the quality of Ivory leaves them all in the dust. Looking forward to continuing work from TapBots. Thank you so much!

This should be the official app. I appreciate all of the work that went into the official app, but this just blows it out of the water. From a UX perspective this is incredible. Animations are satisfying, menus and icons are clear, and customization is top notch. Good work guys! Keep it up!!! My only bit of feedback would be possibly making it available on Apple silicon macs? I’d love this on the desktop!!!

The best Mastodon app. Reverse chronological timeline! Unread posts count! Preserved (and synchronized) timeline! Great interface, easy to use, & so much more. I finally feel whole again.

So long Twitter, hello Ivory!. If you loved Tweetbot, you'll feel right at home with Ivory. Great, great app!

The Best Mastodon App Out There. Ivory brings all the polish of Tweetbot (and more) to Mastodon. The subscription isn’t as cheap as Tweetbot’s was, but I suppose that makes sense given that there are fewer Mastodon users than Twitter users, so the cost of maintaining the app is a bit higher per-customer. Either way, $20 a year is very affordable and I’m happy to support an excellent developer like Tapbots. Highly recommended!

Professionally Made App. You can tell Ivory is professionally made app with great craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Am amazing mastodon client. Despite being at 1.0 and in early access, Ivory is a piece of software that’s built on Tweetbot. As such, it’s a great app that’s a pleasure to use. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for Ivory.

Feel at home in Mastodon. I was sad/angry that Twitter shut out Tweetbot. Regrettably, I still access Twitter but have also started using Mastodon. Hopefully someday I will be able to leave Twitter. I tried the native Mastodon app but it just felt odd to me. I heard about Ivory and decided to give it a try and happy that I did. I feel at home even though it’s a different environment. My Tweetbot subscription is worthless now, but I am ok with subscribing to Ivory because it is a quality product that should be supported; otherwise it will go away.

Great, but only for Mastodon. Hands down the best Mastodon client I’ve used but worth noting that it does not support ActivityPub servers like GoToSocial and won’t even allow you to try to use them.

It's not free. There's no free version of this that you can use. The "in app purchases" is that you have to purchase this to use beyond a free trial demo.

Amazing performance and design for a v1.0. Ivory is responsive, smooth-scrolling, intuitive, and so very beautiful in its style. It quickly became my primary Mastodon app. Also I subscribed right away based on the great previous apps from this team and the transparency about the roadmap too. Can’t wait for every update!

Tweetbot reboot for Mastodon. Fantastic Mastodon! If you used Tweetbot, you will feel at home. High recommend.

Ivory is Mastodon for me. And it’s fantastic.

Knocked it out if the park. Great app for Mastodon, tons of great features, works flawlessly. Very polished both the iPhone and iPad app.

Too pricey, free version is just a useless demo. Look, I feel sorry that Tweetbot suffered. However, you can't charge this much especially for a service which is just barely getting off the ground - it's unrealistic and a bad pricing model. From all the people I follow on Twitter, only 2 are on Mastodon (and one of those is a refowarding bot). So, rather than trying to attract more users and encouraging early adopters, Tapbots is doing the exact opposite by penalizing early adopters, charging a huge premium, all with hopes to recoup their Tweetbot losses. Great coders, but maybe not so great on the business savy.

Tapbots does it again. Been a longtime Tweetbot user, and this makes the switch to Mastodon that much easier. Super polished at such an early stage.

Best Mastodon Client. Super happy with this purchase! Go TAPBOTS! Also bring back ConvertBot!

It’s OK with annoyances. It was good to try the app but I will not be renewing my subscription or continue using it beyond that. The app looks great. It feels better on the iPad than iPhone, I don’t like it on the Mac. The main annoyance is how the feed loads, it’s slow and have to keep tapping to get to the top, not the case with other apps. For what the app is, it’s way too expensive.

Just as you'd expect from Tapbots, a quality Mastodon client. Ivory on Mac (and iOS/iPadOS) make my Mastodon experience feel more like 'home'. Love that my Mastodon timeline is in sync no matter what device I'm using! As expected, the app is solid with a great UI, and is clearly built for macOS. Subscribing on both platforms is a bargain!

Unable to install on iPadOS 15.1. The app is absolutely wonderful but unfortunately it’s not officially supported on iPadOS 15.1 which is a shame. It works perfectly on iOS 16.1.2 and I actually subscribed but since it requires 15.6 I’ll be forced to cancel it because I use my iPad way more than my iPhone

Ivory is simply the best !. I'm using Ivory for Mastodon (MacOS/iOS/iPadOS) because, after testing all other clients, Ivory is simply the best ! Tapbots thought about every detail of the application. Icons, filters and all other great functionnalities. I will always recommend Ivory when I'm asked "which client should I use for Mastodon ?" Ok it's not free like others but, believe me, you will get the best of all ! Benoît

New App New IAP Pricing. Whether the app deserves to be published or compared to Twitter is up to each individual but you’ve gone from paid upgrades to a subscription. Tweetbot was $7.99 a year and now it’s $14.99 a year. Yet it seems most of the apps internals were striped from Tweetbot. Way to milk a bad situation, and try and still look good. 1.0.1 Wow. 1.0.2 update changed IAP to $19.99 a year. Avoid at all costs.

You already know. From the team who brought the very best Twitter app, Tweetbot, comes the very best Mastodon app. It has the same design language, the same style, the same feel. It's ideal if, like me and many thousands of others, you've left Twitter for good and sufficient reason. Get it! Try it! And support indie software makers!

Not bad but threading needs work. It definitely has a lot of good features. I found threading very difficult, though. If there’s a way to create a thread without having to go find the posts and reply to them one by one, I haven’t found it. Very annoying

Fantastic interface. This app really enhances my experience with Mastodon. I love the visual presentation and the thought behind all of the swipe gestures to reply, repost, and favorite things that I’ve been posted.

Absolutely exquisite.. I didn't want to like Ivory. The app requires a subscription, and still isn't officially "done". But... 20 minutes into the free / read-only demo, I was so impressed that I went ahead and put my money on the table. It is UNBELIEVABLY good.

HELP Don’t see easier way to reach top of posts. For the love of god, please reveal the so-called easier way to see new posts, because I’m still having to tap the skin off my forefinger to go to what is not the top then back where I was then back to not the top. What is the secret??????????? The app still makes me double tap multiple times to reach the top, and I don’t see any new options in the settings. Help.

Excellent in every way. The Tapbots team knows how to design thoughtful, beautiful, and functional apps, and they have raised their game to a new level with Ivory. I’ve been using it since it was in alpha, and even then it was a genuine pleasure to use. It’s good. You’ll like it.

Order out of chaos!. I was a longtime Tweetbot user and really missed the ability to sync my reading position while reading my Mastodon timeline. Now I can dip in and out of my feed without worrying about missing something important. Ivory looks amazing! Thank you Tapbots!

5 stars for the app, minus two for the sub price. This app is as great to use as you would expect from the makers of Tweetbot. It’s a great Mastodon experience. Not unlike with twitter, they make the network more usable. But the subscription prices are insane. Twice as much for a year as Tweetbot was, with about 1% of the users you’d want to follow actively using the platform. Really nice, but not worth the price.

Game changer. I used tapbots previous Tweetbot app for 10+ years and the way twitter banned the app got me to follow them to mastodon and ivory is shaping up to be what tweetbot should have. Thanks to the devs for the hardwork and making this new social media experience very friendly and right at home.

Refined Mastodon client. After what happened with the network that shall not be named and the mass migration to Mastodon, I was ecstatic when I found out Talbots was working on a Mastodon client and released it so soon. The app is refined, works perfectly and has plenty of customization options. It makes the Mastodon experience enjoyable.

A very fine-tuned Mastodon experience.. Not surprisingly, Tapbots did an outstanding job with their Mastodon client (see Tweetbot fame)! This is such a joy to use, with enough whimsy to make it fun. Love the haptic feedback throughout the app, and the color choices. Thanks, team at Tapbots! You've got a happy subscriber here.

Better than Tweetbot. Everything you love about Tweetbot is here, except all of the features actually work because Mastodon’s API is so open. If you believe a good social media experience is worth paying for, this is THE app. I’m excited to see where Ivory goes and how far it pushes the Mastodon network.

Not just the best Mastodon App!. I came from Tweetbot and Ivory is a perfect fit. Navigation is intuitive and it makes a very “techy” mastodon experience feel polished and user-centric. The app also allows you to add other federated accounts although I haven’t found a home in other places just yet.

The best. These devs always bring you the things you need. So glad they’ve put forth efforts to bring Mastodon to an even bigger audience. It’s sad to see Tweetbot go, but to usher in Ivory was a much needed & welcomed product to give their followers a better place to socialize.

Well on its way. While there are still some key features missing, Ivory is already the most elegant and easy to use Mastodon client. I’m happy to support the devs while they iterate and improve on the app.

RIP Tweetbot. Long live Ivory!. There was a split in the space-time continuum 10 or 15 years ago, and through some miracle of science, Tapbots has captured the version of Twitter that everyone in Universe B has been enjoying for over a decade.

The best way to interact with Mastodon. This app is as simple as you want it to, and as complex as you need it to be. It makes getting a sense of Mastodon something manageable, while also instantly familiar. There’s a level of polish that’s superb, and it’s just fun to use.

Service. The app itself is fantastic. The customer service from the developer is not. Tweetbot subscription was never refunded or carried over to Ivory. Contacted their support and was welcomed with rude & passive aggressive responses in return. Told me to contact Apple, Apple tells me to contact them… it’s the principle of being a long time Tapbots supporter to be let down by a money hungry developer that doesn’t care about its users. Moving on from this developer and not looking back. Suggest you do the same.

Outstanding Mastodon Client. Really great design, incredibly smooth, really stable and reliable. Subscription is a bit higher than I initially expected, but it’s still well worth the price. Tapbots always delivers high quality stuff and this was a no-brainer for me

App fine, access terrible. I expect this may be a Mastodon issue but sort of unhappy about paying for a subscription that I am unable to use--have been unable to access Mastodon with Ivory since the beginning-sadly. Longtime Tweetbot subscriber and wouldn't have used TWitter without it I don't think---but right now Ivory is of no use to me--again, sadly.

Thrilled. I’m utterly thrilled for this app as my Twitter replacement. After twitter killed third party apps making it even more unusable, I was thrilled to see the launch of Ivory for Mastodon. It has made kicking Twitter to the curb a joy.

Subscription based. Looks like a good app but I had to download and sign up to learn it was a subscription app. There are good apps like toot! That cost a few bucks and work well for what I do on mastodon/fediverse. Might be worth it to others but passing. Can’t even try out full featured to see what I might be missing.

tbh it shoud be free because... mastodon is not a big social media and with alot of users. so it's not getting used that much , like Twitter and the app it self got a long way to be perfect and worth subscription, but i get it. it can't be for free. i just hoped there was a version with the futures with ads. or some other business plan, or at least buy for life time or something.

If you loved Tweetbot. Ivory for Mac is Tapbots' Mastodon client. It looks, feels, and works basically identically to Tweetbot. It's especially great if you're also using Ivory for iOS, because your timeline position data is synced (over iCloud) between the apps.

This is the one. Amazingly full-featured for a brand new 1.0 app. It has everything I need and everything I wanted. It’s not open source which is a bummer but still a solid 5 stars. Check it out with a free 7-day trial.

Best Mastodon app. Ivory is the best Mastodon app available now. It does almost everything I want and it works more smoothly than apps that have been out much longer. There are still a few rough spots but I’m sure they’ll be fixed soon.

Generally great, few details missing. Post filtering doesn’t work for me. From my mastodon settings, and the local Ivory search/feed filtering settings, it doesn’t work. Posts containing blocked works still show up in my timeline.

Favorite Mastodon App. Been using Tweetbot since the day it first released and was so excited for Ivory to be released. Missed the TestFlight and was so jealous watching all the posts about it. Bought it as soon as I saw it got released. I have 10 Mastodon apps installed and it instantly became my favorite and go to.

Amazing start. It is pretty amazing that this brand new app has a smoother interface and as many advanced features as many more established clients. It’s still missing some things like instance emoji but everything else from custom timeline filters, polls, and the ability to follow timelines are all here!

It’s Tapbots. So it’s great.. The team at Tapbots hits another home run. Well polished (for being an early access release), and everything has been working great. Can’t wait for all future updates and features that might come. Well done! (And the pricing is extremely fair…)

I didn’t want a Twitter replacement, I wanted a Tweetbot replacement. I fled from Twitter once Elon came and trashed it. I was on Mastodon and trying so many apps. Nothing felt good until Ivory became available. Now Mastodon is a friendly place with loads of great place and the best app is Ivory. It works the way I expected and even syncs between devices!

Best Mastodon Client. I love the UI. It supports almost all Mastodon features and gets better with each release. The ability to filter my feed is far better than other Mastodon clients. Love this app!

Smoothest Feed Scrolling. Of course this is the tweetbot child proving it can do laps around the birdsite but on a better platform - Mastodon. Scrolling the feed is like slicing warm butter, easy and smooth. There is no doubt that this app will continue to mature with the features we need. Thanks for the smooth as butter experience so far!

A Mastodon Experience Crafted With Care. Ivory is stellar, with a flourish and personality that makes navigating Mastodon a delight. With a solid foundation of features built on a easy on an intuitive interface, it is for me the most fun to use Mastodon client on iOS. Looking forward to the future roadmap and more people joining the federated social revolution thanks to Ivory.

Really high quality mastodon client.. Feels really good on iPhone. Ivory makes mastodon a native feeling experience. The design is very simple, and backgrounds, icons, and customizability are exceptional. It makes mastodon feel like the best parts of Twitter while having its own identity.

It’s fine but nothing special to justify a subscription. The stock app is fine for me I don’t get why this is a subscription. I would rather pay one time $20-$40 or something. I hate not owning any version of an app it’s just annoying. But the app works fine from what I can tell but so does the stock free app

They are back!. This app is great. It feels like being home. Everything is so familiar after using tweetbot for years. Everything is where I expect it to be and it works the way I want it to work. Everything is chronological and synced to iCloud and it makes sense when I use the app. Support Tapbots. They made a great app.

THE go-to Mastodon client for iOS!. Ivory makes life so easy for Twitter refugees. Mastodon can be intimidating to the less tech-savvy but Ivory makes a lot of that beautifully hidden yet still accessible. And, speaking of beauty, look at those screenshots! This is an Apple app as they are meant to be. Gorgeous and intuitive.

New to Mastodon ex-Twitter User. Hi there. What’s it like to compare other Mastodon apps to Ivory? Let me just say- out of the box, this is a solid functional application that is only getting better with each iteration. UI is awesome. Come join in in the awesomeness. 😎

Works good, I guess? Terrible pricing model.. In short, make money like MeWe. Basic functions work. Pay one time fees for additional features like Dark Mode, higher levels of encryption, multiple accounts, statistics for content creators, and additional image or video storage space hosted by Ivory. Read Only unless we pay a membership fee? Have you seen metatext?

No Brainer For Tweetbot Users. For “early access” this app is amazingly polished. I used Tweetbot since the beginning and am so happy to have essentially the same look/feel/experience with Mastodonright out of the box

Amazing. This has been such an amazing app. Not just in what it does, which is bringing community together in a new (to so many of us) platform, Mastodon, but in such a timely way - when we need it most, there it is, working so well, a familiar experience. We're so grateful for what you've given us.

Awesome app. I've been using the alpha since the 2nd or 3rd drop and this app has been rock solid the entire time. Some features missing which the developers are aware of, but this is a great app to get the core Mastodon experience. Welcome to the fediverse!

The Best. The Tapbots guys have done it again! When Space Karen killed all the great Bird Site apps, all eyes were on these guys, and they haven’t disappointed. Ivory is a fantastic Mastodon app and succeeds in filling the gap left by Tweetbot. Worth every penny of the subscription. Well done, and can’t wait for the Mac App.

Great. Personally not a fan of Tapbots interaction design, but this is the best Mastodon client out there right now. I've been using the beta and was happy to subscribe immediately. Looking forward to when toot editing is added because I still need to keep another client app on my phone for that.

Worth every penny. They're still working on it, but this has really made Mastodon feel like a familiar place. $15/YEAR is negligible for the ongoing development of this client, so I opted for $25. It's really great now and I can't wait to see what it becomes.

An AWESOME Start!. The quality of the build even during beta has been wonderful. Sure it’s not feature complete yet but it’s already edged aside all the other clients I was using. Looking for ward to greet things! I’ve been a longtime Tweetbot user and Talbots fan. The bird site may be a thing of the past but it’s legacy lives on in the battle scars and knowledge the gang brings to Ivory.

A wonderful addition to the world of Mastodon. Ivory is performant, easy on the eyes and easy to use. The company has a long, storied history of producing top notch apps. They have shared a list of features coming in the future. They are good people. I like that Ivory Just Works™️

Such a Beautiful Mastodon App. I tried Mastodon earlier in the year and none of the apps really made it feel worthwhile, but this app completely changed that. It’s gorgeous and so easy to navigate. Can’t wait to see what features you have coming!
