BAND - App for all groups App Reviews

I love this app!. I’ve been using this app for a really long time, and I probably use it more than iMessages or any other social media. One thing, though, I wish the chat rooms would be worked on a bit more, because I’m always finding small glitches here and there. They’re usually fixed with the next update, but with that one there come more. Of course, I’m very nit picky and can’t judge. The number one glitch is when it was trouble loading messages, and just doesn’t tell me. Or when it doesn’t load notifications or feed from a specific Band. Other than that, though, it’s a fantastic app.

Fix Please. I keep trying to get ahold of Band in regards to a bug in their system but they won't give me a direct answer or even explain why they do this. It's extremely annoying that band puts a limit on and deadlines and dates for things on the app I can only plan my deadlines for a couple of months ahead (Currently, mid October is the latest I can set one). I can't keep coming back to band EVERY week to add in another sign up deadline whenever the deadline becomes available on the software, I have way too much paperwork to do in my job and it's such a simple thing to fix on the developers end. It makes no sense at all why I can set an event or a poll or a sign up for 10 years in the future, but for some reason I can't set my sign up deadline for whenever I need it as well. Come on guys, this is such a simple fix on your end but it's INCREDIBLY frustrating as I try to plan out the school year for a group of students if I have a limit on when I can set the deadline for something.

Very confusing collection of threads. This is the most frustrating and confusing app I have ever used for group communications. I don’t know why the city league switched to this when there are far better communication platforms. Threads run together like they all happened one after the other. Nothing stands out as new material other than a small dot. When there are multiple parents asking things and the coaches posting things, information is scattered all over and nothing seems attached to the original post. You have to do extra steps to achieve anything. Nothing is quick let me check when practice is or anything hats the last thing said about a topic. VERY CONFUSING and I use multiple communication platforms regularly. *****I DO NOT RECOMMEND******

I just want band. Hi there! So I haven’t used the app yet, but my sisters have. They say it’s great and they love it, and they like using it for the friend groups since some of their friends have different type phones. Now I wanted it for the same reason, so I got the app and tried setting it up, I put in my birthday and once I did everything it said get the kids band! Even tho I’m 12, and there’s no way to say no thanks. All I wanted was to be able to use this app with my friends EDIT I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE band! I set my account up today and have literally not stopped using it! I love the calendar feature especially, it’s really nice, and I especially love how you can see when people are online. One suggestion would be that you should make it on the chat so that there’s typing bubbles, it kinda bugs me that I can’t see when people are typing. But that would be it. This is probably my favorite app and deserves way more than 5 stars, although still, I don’t like the whole kids band thing, it’s nice that you made that for people but I wish you could get normal band even if your under 13. Just a simple no thanks option would be great.

Too many annoying notifications. It's a pretty good group messaging app. It doesn't do much that competitors like GroupMe don't also do, but it doesn't fall behind anywhere either. The only major difference is that GroupMe and others don't feel the need to bombard the user with pointless notifications. Every couple days or so Band will send a notification with no real substance, obviously just trying to get the user to open the app. The worst part is that you can't turn notifications off or else you'll risk missing important messages from your groups. Very annoying and would never recommend this app while it still does this.

Group call ending. Great app for me so far but it starts getting annoying and troubling us with the group call ending by itself after about an hour. In the middle of important meetings the call will just end; that very bad for such a great app and causes a lot of our meeting to be aborted before the end. And if you relaunch the call it will tell you to wait for another minute to start a new call. This is an unnecessary and most annoying update ever. We have meetings that lasts for hours and sometimes for days for 24hour fellowships so we want it to be ongoing without ending. That would be really appreciated. Other than that great app. Also is there a purchasable version for it that may work more efficiently?

Terrible UI. You get a notification, you open the app and see that same, one notification, in 3 different places and sub menus. I have to open the message 3 different ways just to clear it. And it doesn't help that the things that I don't care about mask themselves as notifications as well, such as new stickers and news. You start with one notification and immediately become overwhelmed when you open the app when you see red, unread, dots in 3 different places. The problem only gets worse when you're having multiple conversations at once. The conversation layout is unintuitive and confusing. Even after disabling everything, I still get notifications for stickers and news. I have never met anyone that uses the app because they like it. It’s always due to a work requirement. How sad when your business model predicates on people being forced to use you service. Not a sustainable business model in the long run.

Annoying notifications & navigation. My phone is constantly receiving notifications from this app to the point it freezes all other applications. It's not user friendly for those of us New to Band app. However it is easier to figure out and has a crisp clear voice chat compared to apps such as discord. I'm mostly annoyed by the settings because if you want to change anything in the app you must customize each band individually. If you attempt to change the notification settings for the entire app you only have 3 choices to turn off for 1 hour, 3 hours, or until 8am. I have multiple band groups and would like to shut off all notifications while my app is not open and during certain times while sleeping or busy. I literally have to put my entire phone on do not disturb to stop band notifications from waking me up every 3-5 minutes.

I can not stand this app. I have used many apps to connect with teams and organizations. This app by FAR is the most annoying and confusing app I have. First of all, I constantly am checking the app because it appears I have a notification. 90% of the time it is an offer from the “sticker” shop or a notification from the “band” guide. I am 43, I don’t need stickers to talk to my daughters coach. My time is to valuable to constantly have to check because this app is advertising. I told the coach to do emails because I refuse to respond on this app anymore. I have every setting possible set to not receive notification except for the one “band” group I am on. On top of it the threads are super confusing. You don’t have the option to delete an old thread off you messages unless I am guessing the administrator of the band or if your the person who started the thread. The threads all look alike. It’s infuriating. Had enough. Told her to get S.I. Or huddle. At least the info huddle offers is useful, not unicorn stickers. I gave it one star only because it actually works and you can receive messages. Other than that, trash.

Major bug issue. I want to leave a good review for this app but I have had a major problem with it. Since last year I have been unable to view videos posted to the band in the app. I am a college athlete and watching these videos are the ways my teammates and I get better at skills. When I watch a video in the app it will say operation stopped and then not play. I have tried looking through all the settings on the app to fix this problem but nothing has worked. I have also emailed the help email multiple times seeking help for this problem but haven’t received a response. There also is no help number that I can call to receive help. This app is great in all other areas but this problem has caused me a lot of trouble. I would be so grateful to the band app if they would help me fix this problem and would change my 2 star review to a 5 star review.

Can’t view who have read chat messages. I’m the tech admin of our church and just started trying Band as our church has a need to switch from FB Messenger. So far we think Band is very good and pretty useful for what we need, except 1 feature we really need that Band doesn’t have: We can’t view who has read messages in chat rooms. We can see how many have read, but not who. You can see this in posts, but only in original posts. Once people reply/comment on a post, others in the group can’t see who have read the comments. The read status is a really important feature for us that we’ve been enjoying on FB Messenger. Would’ve given 5 stars if this feature were there.

The Newest Update. The newest update on band has recently been bugging myself and a lot of other friends of mine. Everything about the new update is fine, but the only issue is the auto-correct was terminated off the chat rooms. As well as the red dots under a word to indicate the word was spelled incorrectly. The deleting messages for everyone now is a good update (like, really really good) but, no one would really want to delete a whole message and then type it out again. Even with copy and paste, it’s an annoyance to look through the whole paragraph to find the misspelled words that were not underlined with red dots. It saves time for people to just type a quick message and it could be easily auto-corrected if one or two letters are spelled wrong. It is really a nuisance to type slowly if you’re a fast type to make sure you don’t make any word mistakes within your sentences or paragraphs. Even right now as I type this review, I’m using auto-correct which is correcting my words since I type fast and don't have the time to look over every word to find error. A good number of band users have the app on their phones, which is why auto-correct comes in handy along with the red doting under a misspelled word. To end this, all I am recommending is that you would reconsider adding back auto-correct and the red dotings back into chat rooms.

Super annoying self promotion is not ok, app otherwise is.. As far as a platform for groups talk to each other and having a feed set up. The app is fine. What is super obnoxious is how many notifications and how much of your feed is actually cluttered up with things telling you about the app itself. I’m already using the freaking app!! Please stop telling me about it! I don’t need 15 different notifications telling me about how I can incorporate it into my life and work. I just need to know if practice is cancelled this week! Also, changing the notification settings changes the way I actually receive important and relevant information from the groups I’m in. The fact that I can’t see what my group is actually talking is about without filtering through ad-like notifications defeats the whole purpose.

Best group app I’ve used!. I am a public school teacher and a mom, so I’ve tried a lot of different group chat apps, and this one by far has been the best one for organizing, and the most fun! Currently, I have 10 groups in my BAND and the organizational elements of this app help keep me sane through all of my groups. I refer to band so often throughout my year so that I don’t have to remember everything! My students love posting pictures and video and participating in the group chats. The calendar feature is perfect for scheduling and sending out reminders and seeing who is coming to events. Thanks for the app!

Not very user friendly. This app has potential but it’s not there yet. The layout is really set up for someone who plans on creating groups. Should be more designed for participants of groups. Example - if you are in multiple groups and want to see a combined calendar, you have to click “more”, then click “my page”, then “upcoming events”. There should be a combined calendar icon from the home page. Instead their are 9 icons to create a new page. Creating new pages should be in the “more” section. Also don’t accidentally log into one group with your Facebook login and another group with your email address. You can’t merge the profiles. I deleted one but had to get the help section to allow my phone number to be used on the remaining log in. They helped but with a snarky comment “FYI, If the same case happens again, please understand that we won't be able to help you. So, please be careful when signing up BAND.”

AH-MAZING!!!!. I’ve been looking for something that can do many of the capabilities that BAND has to manage the youth that I serve and just like that, I came across BAND. I have grown to love it so so so much! The only thing I wish it had was forums and maybe groups within each BAND. If you all could do that, you’ve got me forever. Otherwise, considering it is a free app, it gets a solid 5! It’s gets no better than that. They give a lot in exchange for a free download so BAND, know that you are appreciated and that I’d advocate for you ANY DAY! With this new payment option, that gives even more hope and excitement for what else there is to come. Thank you!! Keep being great!

Still My Fave App!. I've been using Band for over two years now for my MMO Guild and it just keeps getting better!! It makes organizing raids and keeping updated outside the game so easy! Band offers almost anything you could ask for groups and better than most social networks since it actually allows for more privacy. It's also a lot more organizational and tidy than other chat group apps. You can even have large group calls while gaming so there's no need for separate apps, Band offers almost everything! The new "online" feature is awesome, but I would like to suggest that admins can still be able to view who is online, regardless if a person hides it from the rest of the group. I also agree with one of the other reviews that asks for a feature that allows people to see who reads comments in the chat room, which would make my previous suggestion unnecessary. The only thing missing that would be perfect for gaming groups is the ability to add synchronized timers, but I'm not sure how complicated it would be .. but it's just a suggestion. Other than that, I wish there was a way to turn off Suggestions, but Band is awesome either way and I wouldn't use any other app for my community of gamers :)

Best app ever for coaches. The BAND APP has absolutely everything a coach needs for their team. Scheduling, live streaming events, the ability to post team material and updates, chat and sub group chat for athletes and parents etc.... If you ever wished you could find one app for all of your team communication, it’s here. I’ve been using band for the last 2 years and it’s hands down the best team app out there. If you have a problem with the app, the customer service staff is on it quickly to fix it, and if you have suggestions for improvements, the developers are on that quickly also. Thanks BAND for making my life easier.

Great app, but needs one fix. This app so far has been be great! I’m glad there’s an app where my directors can post announcements without a problem. Anyways, there’s one problem. Whenever someone sends a video, it doesn’t play, and buffers a lot, or it either takes a very long time to play. Saving the video and watching it used to be the solution, but now that doesn’t work. I don’t really know if this has been an issue for other people, but please try to find a way to fix the bug if that’s the case. Thank you!

Great app but room for improvement. This is an edit from the previous review, which was very professionally resolved by the Band team. It entails suggestions for improving the app’s capabilities. I’ve really enjoyed using this app for my online clan; we can set up events and communicate effectively and clearly. But there are a few things that my team and I would appreciate more than anything. 1. The ability to create notes like in the Line application - Posts which you could access from the chat room directly. An example would be a list of rules easily accessible to anyone. It’d be like the shared photos function. By clicking the 3 bars on the top right of the chat room, you could access a in-app document that’s been created or post that’s been highlighted by an admin. (Also, the ability to edit said document) 2. The ability to edit a message you’ve sent in a group chat room. Sometimes we post events or trainings and then we pin them to the top of the screen. Then the time of that event changes but we have to post an entire new message because we can’t edit the wording of that text. 3. Some more emojis to add as “shouts” such as an OK emoji, or a thumbs down emoji. Thanks for creating such a great app, we’d be euphoric if you could actually implement these suggestions for us.

Needs a Mac app, new Calendar interface, & refined video chat. Please make a Mac app for those of us that use Band as a main form of communication with their teams. It would make a serious competitor to Slack. All the the chat options are stellar and I love the file manager. It’s so great for teams that need to be on the same page with certain files. The chat is amazing I love all the post & cheat features with the ability to manage your teams. Additionally, I understand that video chat is in beta but it would be amazing to refine the experience. I can’t wait to see a stabilized final version :) keep up all the great work!!

Love the features but.... I love all the features that are offered on Band. This is the reason we switched from GroupMe. Unfortunately, Band seems slow to update. When I open anything- a band, a chat, an album etc., it takes several seconds to load what originally showed up in a notification. Several of our Band members are having a difficult time uploading videos. Lastly, a Band chat that we started 4 weeks ago is already telling us the storage is full. If you can fix the lag and the storage, we will continue using. If not, we will probably move back to GroupMe. Also tried to “contact developer” before writing this review but that was a completely different language and I was not able to change it. 👎🏼

Great app/Falls slightly short. I love ALMOST everything about this app. It does have some setting that get close to what I need but not all the way there yet. I like that you can select who can comment or post. But I WISH there was a way for me to select who can view or receive comment. Like most Group Texts. The most aggravating part is the constant replies. Some people leave groups for that very reason. I would LOVE this app if there were a way for me to select that anyone could comment... but i would be the only one to get the comments. Not everyone needs to get notifications when members ask ridiculous questions or reply and unheard of hours. I would like to sensor that as a leader, but still have a way for the team to reply to me. BONUS, of this app could also have a time restriction setting for notifications allowing some of us to sleep. DOUBLE BONUS... Allow team members to receive messages and reply... even if they don’t have the app.

Great app for a community band. I give the app 5 stars because it works so well for our group of volunteer musicians. Pros: It links with our google calendar saving me time. It has a variety of tools to fit most situations, And overall it is the best solution for our group’s needs that I can find. And I looked for a vey long time. Cons: I consistently get 2 complaints from the musicians. One is that the email notification does not send the entire mess and they need to click a link. The other is that the app defaults to too many notifications, so they turn them all of instead of the ones they don’t want, then complain they don’t get important info 🙇🏼‍♀️. I would like to see the admins and moderators see the default notifications the app has now, but the group subscribers just get the basics. I think that would get them to use it more often. As the admin, I’m having a tech issue and can’t find help. The tech button brings me to a Korean language that I can not change. My problem is with the link to the Google calendar. We canceled several rehearsals and events due to the COVID. the app updated the calendar but is still popping up notifications. Since the event no longer exists I can’t seem to turn it off.

Anything video related is AWFUL. This app is great, my job uses it for all of our communication including our staff meetings. One big problem that I would like the developers to really pay attention and fix is anything that deal with videos. Video uploads take forever and the buffering for videos even longer! Video calls have delayed glitchy sound and terrible quality. No matter what internet connection you are on or how great your service is. This is now 2022 with matured technology, not 1990’s and early 2000’s when this was all brand new. I believe this could be easily fixed if the developers just gave it some attention. We all love this platform and it holds great value for many communities of people and workers. Everything is all in one place and makes communication between a mass of people very easy, until it comes to anything video related, which is important these days. I hope the developers see this and fix it eventually. Thank you for all you do.

App Fine, Notifications Annoying!. The app works fine if your band director knows how to use it and takes advantage of all the features, plus takes the time to set everyone up correctly. But the notices to refer a friend, new features… they are only relevant for the band director. What is the point of annoying students and parents with them? I’m a parent. I don’t need stickers to communicate with my kids director. I definitely don’t need to be notified there are new ones. It’s so much advertising that is just annoying, since it doesn’t apply to me. You can’t turn off push notifications about these, but it’s still everywhere in the app. And you can’t customize your notifications enough. If you want to be notified about posts, you have to get every comment as well. So if your band director has birthdays turned on, you’ll not only get a notification for every person’s birthday, but also for every person who replies happy birthday to it. I got 78 notifications in one day, then the band director turned off the birthdays completely. I liked knowing when it was a kids birthday, I do not want every comment.

Thank you Band!. I have had the Band app for a couple of years now. Initially I started using it for my fitness classes to keep my students up to date with last minute cancellations. In 2020 when we were unable to have classes in person I was able to easily livestream classes, and continued for about 6 months even after we got back to the in-person classes for those who were not comfortable coming back right away. We still use the app for class schedules and announcements and it is our primary app for this purpose. I enjoy the different groups and the newsfeed and have recently made a Band group for my family since I am not on any other social media.

Exactly what I was looking for. I help organize a small group of teen leaders who are all on different platforms. Facebook seems to be not as popular with young people like it once was, so I started looking some an app that functioned just like a Facebook group, but without all the other stuff. That's when I found Band. I've been using it for over a year now, and have had a great experience. I've even recommended it to other people who have similar needs. The only thing I would change is to allow me to turn off notifications for other groups in the area. Perhaps a premium feature?

Good app for our youth group. Our church youth group leaders recently switched to this app for organizing all of our program activities/events. I am getting used to it and we seem to like it so far. We were using viber (just a messaging app) previously. This app has been useful in different ways, having a chat, a calendar, and specific events in the app. My one request, however, is for the Events calendar section. Below the calendar, there is a chronological list of events in the current month. It is currently the 29th of October, however it still starts with the events from the beginning of the month. I wish it would skip down to the next available event so I wouldn’t have to scroll past the whole months worth of programs. Thanks for a great app!

Not intuitive. I have 3 different kids on two different teams within the same group of lacrosse teams and the organization uses band. There’s a general group that has everyone, then there’s a 14U group. Then a 12U group. And while there’s inherent confusion in that setup to begin with, it’s made way worse by the way the app formats things. Example: you have bands, feeds, notifications, and chats. And when you need to go back and look at a message it’s hard to figure out where to go. For context, I work largely in the digital realm and am pretty tech savvy. And this app simply isn’t intuitive. Though I will admit this: the overall high(ish) rating makes me wonder if it’s maybe the group I’m with that has made band such a cluster. Because it’s not just me. Many of the parents I’ve spoken with are having a hard time with this app.

Good, but still needs a little more…. I recently switched my sons sports teams to Band from Team Snap and although I do love so many more feature in Band there are a few major lacking features. These features wil be for any sport I’m sure, but since I just added our baseball team I’ll use baseball as an example. 1. The need to be able to enter and save a location while also naming it is a must for calendar entry. It was so annoying having to enter the field address for every game instead of just selecting from a list of saved fields. Further there needs to be the option to name the address to easily select the correct field location from the saved list. 2. There needs to be a field for opponent and playing field # on the calendar entry side. A lot of these sports complexes have multiple fields/courts. 3. An arrival time would be great because our coach likes the players there 45 minutes before the game, but we don’t want to alter the game time. 4. Final outcome for the game entered in the calendar to track our record would be great. I know these options aren’t for everyone that utilizes Band, but are necessary for sports teams in my opinion. Maybe they could become original fields that different organizations could select which appear in their band so you could add scholastic titles, corporate titles, etc.

Great app! Except.... So I love this app. I use it for work in the daily with keeping communication between everyone available. New sale? Post to band. Tagging mistake? Post to band. Random pile of clothes? Post to band. I LOVE IT! However, the only issue I have is a recent development and that is the live streaming option in the app has been crashing at random times in the live stream, and when it crashes it deletes the entire video! However, it gets counted as one of your 5 live streams. Please fix this, the live streaming option is what I use for our weekly meetings so we can do it in the comfort of our home, and the desktop option is too confusing since all the streaming services y’all recommended don’t stream to BAND. Please fix ASAP! Also, try to make a way to live stream on the desktop without a third party streaming service.

Broken app, silent support staff. With the 6.2 update came all kinds of headaches, most notably messages appearing in some unknown order rather than by recent, and load times that are frankly unbelievable. Using 6.2 it takes 2-3 times as long to load each chatroom, which is frankly unacceptable when when I monitor so many. To top it off, in response to the update I messaged the support team and have yet to hear back. I now have sent three requests for assistance in the approx. 12 months since I started using Band, and I have yet to receive a response for any of them. After the 6.2 update, Band is absolutely unusable. Edit- Chat error resolved promptly, thank you🙂

Awesome App!. I use the hell out of this app EVERY day! As an active duty service member, it is hard to keep leaders up to date in an ever changing environment. With band I am able to keep communications up, pass events, and well as changes to those events. What’s even better is the ability to add or drop members of the band. As people come and go (as they do in the service) I can get their replacements in and they now have access to all of the content of their predecessor. Ive been using it for about 2 years and it’s been an amazing tool. So much so, it has been catching on in other areas of the units I’m in and every seems to be into it. Great job to the developers. Please let me know if you guys want some new insights. I am telling you, I’m sure I could find ways to continue to improve you amazing app.

Great but it’s the little things. Let me just say that I love Band, all the features are wonderful for my volunteer team that uses it for communication, meetings, and up to date information. However, some of my team members are older and some hard of hearing. All notification sounds included in band (known as Default 1, Default 2, etc) are too quiet, and too short in duration for them to hear. I have asked twice now for either longer louder sounds or the ability to add custom alternate sounds. The response I got was basically “we will see”. I can’t believe this is hard to do given the scope of all these wonderful enhancements in the latest release this seems like a nothing. Please prioritize!

It’s very useful but. So I love using band it’s very useful for sports and other things even school whoever whenever I go on and try to watch videos it’s kinda slow and sometimes it does not load and then I can’t get it to work if you could please just try to help it load or run better that would be great because right now if I can’t get on and watch the videos then I can’t see what’s happening or know and sometimes in the middle of watching a video when I can it just stops in the middle or something if I could please be seen and heard so you can fix this app and get it to where it will be able to do allot more that would be great I do love the call and text feature so please continue making this app good thank you

App does not give notifications. I have been using this app for three years for my daughter’s sports teams. The notifications either happen right away when someone has posted, or I don’t receive a notification for two days and miss an important announcement. Or, you get a notification and the app is so slow or hasn’t refreshed that it will not show you the updated notification. If someone sends a chat, or a response to a post, it takes forever for the app to update and show the response. I keep the updates current. But, this is something that needs to be fixed. Years. It’s been years of this and I keep hoping it will be fixed, but it hasn’t been. Please, please, if we are forced to use the app for a sports team, it’s important for it to be efficient, updated, and follows through on it being an important communication tool.

Awful App!. This is like a giant run-on sentence. It’s really difficult to find specific posts in the past. Especially if you have people who post frequently. There are no categories to look things up through or narrow your search. Yes, you can search but if the same person posts a great deal and you can’t remember what it was about or titled, good luck finding it. Most of the items are impossible to download or print. If you are a paper person, this is not the app for you! This is another example of data collection for the sake of data collection under the guise of being helpful. I can’t overstate how frustrating and counterproductive this app really is. The developer reached out and suggested the posts use hashtags. That’s great if you aren’t old and have no idea how to use them. I remember when # meant pound. They also suggested giving posting privileges to Admin and co-Admin. I’m not sure how that helps anyone. If we can post already how does this help?

Buggy. This app worked really well for the past year, but recently it has been having some issues. If I go into the “feed” tab, it only shows posts from not that long ago and then a “search not available” thing pops up. This didn’t bother me THAT much at first, but recently if I go into the feed tab the pop up continues to show up even after I click “cancel” to get it off of my screen. It makes it to where the only way to escape it is to completely shut off the app and then click on each individual room so I can read the message. I’m going to try deleting and redownloading the app, but I honestly don’t know if it’ll work.

Most important features are spread throughout the app. I’ve been using the app for a couple months now. The app has great potential but it’s the little things that create the most problems for my parents for usability. For instance you basically have to back all the way out of your team board in order to see the calendar from iOS devices. So the parents of my team are always calling, texting, and messaging within the app in order to figure out when/where a practice or game is. Why in the world would you not have the calendar, posts, and messaging in the lower navigator of every screen your in when using band. In today’s age, apps shouldn’t require me having training sessions with parents who aren’t old to figure out how to use an app. They’re almost always simple enough that anyone can use them. I hope you fix this soon before I find another tool for parents. I of course don’t want to go though that learning curve again so please hurry.

Works Great!. I’m going to disagree completely with mom198. Most of the issues expressed in that 1-star review are a function of not fully understanding how to use the app. She recommends SI, which is used by my son’s rugby team, and I can positively state from experience that BAND is a much more powerful and user-friendly app than SI. Does it have a learning curve? Of course it does, but once you learn to fully utilize it, it’s great. I do agree that some of the pop-ups can be annoying, but it literally takes 5 seconds once every week or 10 days to turn them off for the week. Not really something to complain greatly about. I do have one request from the developers...can you make it possible to “bump” a post back to the top of the feed? As my organization’s leader, my important posts sometimes get pushed down in the feed by other posts. (I already have other equally important stuff pinned to the important notices area.) It would be a nice upgrade if I could easily bump the important stuff back to the top. Overall, great app! Easy to use and a powerful communications tool for my organization.

Editing privileges. I’ve been using this app for years and am a member of over 20 bands. I use this for family, friends and church volunteer groups. The bands that I’m a manager of, I would love the option to be able to edit posts of others. I will ask other members to post information and I will look over and double check for miss-spelled words and content. I have to text them to correct the post instead of being able to quickly edit it myself. It would be great if managers of the band had the permission to edit posts from others. Right now, I can only delete the entire post, which is not helpful unless some posted something inappropriate.

this is 🤗😲🥳. band is such an amazing app, especially since my theatre uses it for choreography videos and schedules. who ever knew you could just click a screen and you’re next two weeks are planned? overall, great. one tiny unfortunate thing keeps happening to me though. i have a hotspot, but everytime i’m in the car trying to watch one of the videos they posted, it won’t load. i don’t know if it is the internet or just my phone, but it NEVER loads. 💀i just WISH this would stop happening. if ur still reading this, just make sure NOT to watch videos from band whilst in the car. overall, i VERY great app, but the videos could be fixed (also pls tell me if it is a bug or?).

Not sure. “I keep trying to sign up but it won’t load. I’m not sure if I have bad reception or WiFi but I can’t seem to get an account. Help!” As my old review stated I had rly bad WiFi and internet connection. I have now had the app for about a month now and it’s great! I am instantly able to receive notifications on when and where events are happening. I also love the feature of when you are in a group you can comment or add to a post they have made. It helps everyone out. I would definitely recommend this app to anyone that is a part of a group or event because it makes planing so much easier.

Last update?. Our group has been using this app for a few years now and it is great. I was glad to see that this app was now going to have video calling. I have updated the app several times and restarted my phone. Don’t believe it is operator error because I have looked everywhere and do not see where this is located in the app. Can you advise? Will be willing to give 5 stars if it works. You get the five stars now. Thanks for the quick response. I will say though the video calling should be easier to access and more prominent. Pretty awesome overall. I recently made the switch to Band from Team App for my teams and love quite a few features about it. It looks professional and is fairly easy to use (a little tricky for my parents who don’t understand phone apps though) and allows me to post videos of more than 1:00 to my teams so they can practice their choreography/routines. Inputting events into the calendar is quite simple and I am able to change the color of certain events so that they show whether it’s a class or an event. I LOVE how easy the albums are to create and add multiple photos vs team app where you could only add a couple at a time, as well as letting parents and students contribute their own. My only tip and question for developers would be to let admins see parent/student emails that were used to sign up for the app. Some of my participants have not changed their name to display both their first and last names (despite my reminders), so those with duplicate names are difficult for me to differentiate. Would it be possible to add something like this?

So hard to use, even for the simple things. Of all the group chat apps I’ve been forced to use because of my kids’ activities, Band is by far the one I dislike the most. It is hard to make a comment. Text is very small and hard to read. There is no way to edit a comment once it has been made. You have to set up a new profile for every group you use. It isn’t always clear to me where my comment will end up (as a comment on the OP or as a reply to someone else’s comment (probably because the text is so small on the mobile app). Because there are so many messages from Band promoting Band, I sometimes miss messages that I should have seen first. There is no prioritization of group messages vs Band spam, so it is easy to simply dismiss notices as unimportant. Ugh! I know this is a disjointed list of gripes, but honestly, I feel anxious and frustrated every time I have to open this app. I avoid using it as much as I am able, honestly. I wish I’d never heard of it, and can’t understand why my daughter’s gym thought this app would be a good idea. I hope they stop using it soon. It’s awful.

Server and app unresponsive. This app was good, until the recent update, in which I was looking in my band (which corresponds to a clan in clash of clans) and everyone started saying the server wasn't working. Immediately I saw as well. the server wasn't loading with an error that said something about an invalid certificate. people in the clan who didn't get the update said the app worked just fine. upon uninstalling and reinstalling the app, the app just froze altogether when hitting "already a member? log in" link. should i exit the app, if i try to get back in, it will crash every time. i've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, and i have the same result. thank you for reading.

Notification bubbles. The app itself is great, you can easily join a community and make posts, even let others know if you’re going to be there or not. However, the developers of the app seem to think that not having an account linked with your band account is worth a recurring red one in a circle. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s just quite annoying. Developers, let me put it this way for you: Imagine that you had a coffee shop you went to on a semi regular basis when you were hanging out with a group of friends, but only then! Now imagine that same coffee shop is nearby to the one that you go to on a regular basis, and every day they put up a sign that says “today’s deal:____” however when you go in to see what the deal is, the shop owners are asking you to fill out about 3 forms before you’re even considered to be on the receiving end of the deals. Wouldn’t you want to stop going to that coffee shop, even if it meant not hanging out with that group of friends? Yeah, well your app is about 10,000x more annoying than that coffee shop with your stupid “link Facebook or google, otherwise we are going to put up a new red bubble every 1-3 hours.” And I’m honestly considering deleting it just because of that one annoying thing. Otherwise it’s an alright app.

Beware Band Will Delete Your Group!. I just wanted to let anyone that downloads this app to create a social group that Band can and will delete your group at anytime without a reason, which is what they did with ours groups!!! They will freeze your account for 7 days so you don’t know what’s going on and they delete your band group without a reason! All your members that try to access the group will see a message saying you are restricted by admin which is you and shows a icon asking members to leave the group and you will lose all your member contacts as you can only talk to members in groups that you belong to. Our band group consisted two local airsoft community groups called “Norcal Airsoft Classifieds” & “Norcal Airsofters” we had accumulated 1000 members between the two groups all from Northern California which took a lot of time to build up the group. We used it to communicate about future games, chat, trade/sell gear, and to help grow the airsoft community. We heavily moderated both groups to make sure everyone one was treated with respect. We have been using this app for a few years without any trouble and then all of a sudden our groups are gone. This greatly saddens me that the group me a my fellow airsoft player spent 1000’s of hours putting together is all gone. Band should be ashamed at the way they treat their users. They have greatly damaged our airsoft community. Please don’t let this happen to you!!!!!

Can’t update albums. I used this app all during lockdown with no issues. Returned to use it again but can’t add any videos or photos to albums from my iPad 😢

It's alright. You have copy these apps messages and Instagram why do you copy them. Only thing you have done like no other one is that fact is you use band group so people can join groups public, private or secret groups these are reason why firstly you copy when you can get some stickers or to purchase secondary you don't know how to choose your own ideas you copyright others thirdly you suck this is worst it's not quick access!! Instagram is simple and about pictures. Messaged is where you can call. These are main ideas yours is copyrighted others with band which is pointless you can make your own with other I talked about to text only them you send invite rather than codes. Your unpopular after 21days since release no one used this because no one knows this and cause it's terrible and when you try to advertise this no one went to download this including myself. Perfect. This app is great, it’s perfect for making a social media group just for the people who are involved. I would recommend this if you wanted to have a chat room with your friend group, where you can also make posts and polls and do anything else you can do on another platform. It’s no good if you want it to be public of course, but it’s perfect for having a private group. You get a notification as soon as someone posts something and it’s super easy to respond to stuff quickly. It just has everything, I love it. Recommend for sure

I like this app, but I’m starting to see a trend toward the feed and even my posts getting cluttered by Band app messages telling me about some feature I don’t care about or some thing I can do that I don’t want to do. I think it’s great that they want to promote new features, but not in my feed/conversations. Help and app update notes for that guys.

Getting better. This a cool app for managing my bands availability! Good functionality that every member can use. 1 thing needs to be changed ASAP though... Add the ability to add multiple days in one event! Adding one day at a time is such a pain! Fix that and she's 5 stars!

When I first found this app I was like yay! I finally found a app I could use to text my Xbox friends when I'm offline .(Arcticwolf266 has already said this). To hard to join a group.. Struggled with the invitation process. Was not intuitive or easy.

Not happy so far. Seems like a good idea but the screens become locked. I couldn't establish that I was a female. The screen freezes when I try to add a cover photo for the group or change background colour.

Misleading premise leaves a bad taste.. It asks you to accept a "Terms and Privacy Policy" it gives you no access to. There's no link while signing up to view the terms. Ads on Facebook convey that it can receive from multiple platforms, but it's just an alternative platform. I was hoping it would replace or organise other forms of collaboration, but it doesn't, it's just a new one. These things make me distrust an app I've never heard of but was willing to have a go at. It's poor delivery of what could be a good app.

Band app review. This app is great because I use it for dancing. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it glitches a lot. Other than that I love it!!!

Needs better sharing options. As a skating coach I love this app as my students who aren't allowed on Facebook can use it, it also lets others post to your band page where Facebook pages only lets the admin do that! Something that really needs to change is that when you share a post, say to Facebook, others can't view the full post through Facebook unless they download the band app and sign in themselves, something many people won't do! Just let us share the full post to other social media with like a band app link underneath instead of forcing ppl to download ur app to view the post! At the moment sharing a post to other media is pretty much useless!

Fantastic. Still in its early stages but this app is awesome it combines chats group chats or private chats there pic and video sharing plus so much more just needs more people but it is awesome 😄

Not very reliable. We use it for dance and the teacher uploads videos for practice. Nearly impossible to watch-the circle of death keeps spinning and none of the videos are watchable. It’s actually really annoying because my kids can’t practice. Wish they’d fix it and wish our studio used a different app.

I love band but.... This update that is coming is NOT what we want band for. There are a million social networks to connect with people outside your sphere based on interests etc. I use band with young people and the joy of band is that they can't access anyone else without being in a group with them. Wish the decision to become a generic social network had been considered more before taking away the unique feature band has.

Tiny suggestion. I love Band but it'd be awesome to have the option to use different sounds for different chats and even have the option to have no sound for certain chats and notifications. If I could set the chat sound per chat instead of as a whole,that'd be awesome!

Links not working cannot add anyone. I set up the group then send invitations- the link is not working. None of the links work and there is no way else to add people to the group.

Love this app, just needs a few tweaks. I use this app for my Girl Guide unit and absolutely love it! One minor but significant upgrade that needs to be done it allowing co-admins to make changes to the posts created by another co-admin. Lack of this option makes it challenging to do sign ups that can only be changed by the original posting admin.

ㅎㅇ. The calendar is inaccessible. Every single time I click on the calendar icon in the bottom, the app just closes itself on me. (After the current update, that is. It has been working just fine until this latest update. Totally regret updating the app now.) Our family uses this app to share our schedules and it's really bothersome not being able to access any of the future schedules. I can only see the most immediate plan of a family member in the top area. 달력을 들어갈 수 없어요. 맨밑 중간에 있는 달력 아이콘을 누르면 강제종료됩니다. 한두번 그러는게 아니고 무조건 달력을 누르면 강제종료됩니다. 업데이트 하고나서 이상해졌어요. 고쳐주세요 ㅠㅠㅠ

Crash. I’ve never had a problem with this app but lately I haven’t been able to open the app because it continually crashes as soon as I open it. All the other apps oh my phone function normally

Amazing App with so many features!. Ignore the previous reviews, there must have been some impressive changes since then. This app is incredible, and easy to use even for tech challenged people like myself.

not fully support iPad. Band is still not supporting fully on iPad. Horizontal screen mode is not supported, yet. With external bluetooth keyboard, it cannot be good, cause screen's laying down....

Hyphenation Issue. I use this app all the time. Whereas the new update fixed the IOS9 bug of chat text extending off screen, it introduced a new one where there is no hyphenation. Words are just cut in half and carried on to the following line. It makes it very hard to read a conversation. Given how frequently they update this app we'll likely wait months for a fix.

Spell check/Auto Correct missing after update. After the latest update to version 8 of Band, the spellcheck/autocorrect function is missing from the chat.

SIGN UP DOESNT WORK!!. After I add the verification code it says “this account isn’t available” whatever that means!!

Overall great option for those wanting to avoid social media platforms. Works great for our needs of group and individual chat, calendar/events, feed with more details, file uploads, polls etc. We also love the option of use on desktop. Navigation can be a little clumsy and it’s sometimes slow and clunky feeling, but overall has worked well enough for our it to be our go-to for 4 years.

Good app, Could be more inclusive. I enjoy this app a lot! My Roller Derby team and I use it to communicate and share information and it works very well! I do have an issue however with the profile options regarding gender. I am a genderfluid person and there is no option for me! The options are: Male, Female or Other. These options arent very inclusive. Im assuming it would be easy enough to change the option to one where you can type it out or at least have more options.

Freezing. I've noticed the app freezing on my iPhone 6+ and on iPad Air 2. Both most recent iOS not impressed. This is my way of communicating with my gaming friends.

Great group messaging app. Fantastic app to communicate and share with a large group. However, if you are to make a smaller group chat within a Band, you cannot manage/remove any of the users from that chat. Band developers, could you add that option, please? Thank you for the work you put in to the app!

Awesome. Great group organization app. Easy to use and so far has lots of functions. I would really love the ability to name group chats like you can on Facebook. It could use some updates in that department.

Glitch!. I installed the app to try to join a group set up by my kids daycamp leader. It continually loops on a message “Sorry! Unable to complete due to temporary error” So I deleted and re-installed, to no avail. 3 days of this so far. It’s not the issue of the group, others have had no problem

WARNING: Read this before you download. This app seemed like a good answer to my remote teaching needs. It allowed me to talk to students one on one and receive assignments via their private chat option. Little did I know that private chats have a default setting where if you change devices or even log out once, all the chats are deleted. I mean, what? How does that make any sense? Well, I found out the hard way when I dropped my phone. All chat histories with the students were deleted. Luckily, I had already manually backed up each assignment. But I was shocked that there was basically no data integrity on Band. I contacted Band twice and both times they said the same thing. I should have known that this setting existed, and I should have changed it beforehand. Great help. With all the other options out there for (basically any messaging app), there is no need to use this app. Especially when your data can disappear at the drop of a hat.

Buggy app!. After the last app update (iOS), only a portion of my chat messages appear after I press send. Not just for me but also anyone else who is in the chat group, sees exactly what I do...a short perhaps 25 character subset of my complete message. What gives Band???

Horrible Navigation. The idea of the app is good but the way it makes you navigate through it is horrible. I can’t just go from a chat and bounce over to the calendar to have a look at an event and then bounce back to the chat. If they can fix that so you don’t have to go back five screens to go over to the calendar from the chat or over to files you’ve uploaded or whatever then the app would be much better.

Good app, needs a couple minor changes. Main thing needed is the ability to have the code not change every 24 hours. I have to create a new code every time someone wants to join which is a very large hassle. The second thing is somewhat broken notifications. This has been somewhat fixed but add an option so you receive notifications only if you have commented or liked a post. I get random notifications for people laughing at posts that I don't care about. Thanks

Has country restriction. I am a North American user visiting Korea but it wont let me join Korean band. Pretty stupid to have such restrictions

Great app!. My experience with band has been great so far. I really appreciate the different options for inviting people to your boards, the 24hr password in particular is a nice touch. It's much better than whats app for that reason, so you don't actually have to exchange private info with people if you want to talk to them. This works great for the group i use it with, we play a strategy game and Band allows us to communicate outside of the game to strategize, post pics and links etc. I also like the shouts, great to have more options than a simple like. Oh and one of the main features that drew me to this app (other than the fact that its free!), is the layout is much better than other group chat apps where the whole convo stays in one box. This app allows you to post something and then have people comment on it, which is much easier to read. I was a fan of Glassboard before it went under, Band is my new improved version!

One stop shop. For our members it is one stop and they can find everything they need! Announcement page, chat groups, calendar of events, RSVP, polls etc. Easy to load videos, pictures and documents. Admin can even see who has and has not seen a posting!

Bugs bugs bugs. Keeps telling me I need to check my network when not using wifi. Therefore useless over 3G. Fix it.

This app has everything but..... This app is incredible! It simplifies everything down into one app, a calendar, messaging board, team pages etc. However it’s rather difficult to understand your first few days using it, that feeing of unsureness never really goes away as the app can crash and run at very slow speeds. The actual features built in within the app are novice; for example you can get a better calendar by downloading “TeamUp” a better group messaging board using “GroupMe” and a simpler user interface using “Facebook” I personally would not recommend using this app in Lou of downloading two or three other apps that are designed to a better quality.

Sounds good. Works.. If I didn't have to disable the SUPER annoying notifications...FOR STUPID STICKERS THAT REQUIRE CHALLENGES then I'm sure it would be a lovely app. This isn't 2009, apps that are annoying get ignored. Apps that are annoying get deleted. I would love to use it more for my groups but as is, it's very annoying. It works...stop the spam. *Update* Updating score to 4 stars from 1 due to developer's prompt response addressing my complaint. It’s good!. I very much like this app, and have started using it with my team. I would like to know if it’s available and I’m missing it, or if there’s a way you could add it, where there’s an attendance associated WITH a calendar event (rather than just “join / decline”) so that the expected names are on the event, and then all you have to do to know who hasn’t replied is see who is left. Maybe an attendees RSVP - I have both parents and children in there & it’s laboring to remember who comes what days and which parent is which kids for EVERY day I hope I’m making sense!

1 update away from 5-stars!!. I really want to love this app! Overall, I love everything about it in terms of organizing group messages with a team of 30 people. But we’ve decided not to use it because we keep getting bombarded with notifications for “stickers” and in-app purchases. The only notifications we want to receive are from our messages, the rest are pretty annoying to be blunt. I’d be happy just pay a flat fee like most other apps to stop any advertising notifications. Otherwise, unfortunately, I’m trying to find another messaging app to use.

Live streaming gone wrong. Band overall is a great app! I love it! Me and a lot of my friends use it! Recently I started my own band, so, of course, I was the admin. I got to start using features like live streaming, which I knew was there from band notices, but never had been able to use because I had never been an admin. It worked fine the first 2 times, but now on live streaming when the camera is on face mode all that is there is quiet static. You can’t hear anything. When the camera is facing the other way, rear, I believe it’s called, the sound is great. Please look into this

Too much happening. There are many options that are great(calendar, messaging, photo albums), but their is too much happening. For a majority of users such as myself, we just have one group. There is not an option that I have found to make it default. Constant notifications about ways to create a new group for different kinds of groups are annoying and help turn off users. When you run a group like mine your biggest problem is people getting annoyed and shutting off notifications. Sending pointless push notifications about “new stickers” helps push busy families to that point. I will be switching my group back to groupme until this app is uncluttered and simplified.

Love it! Great for School!!. I use this app with my band students. It allows me to have a safe space for students to talk to me and for them to talk to each other in a monitored environment! It’s very much like a social media app, so the kids get it and they know how to work it. I use it for everything … from making announcements to posting copies of music and even videos of performances. I have parents and students on the platform which allows for quick and efficient communication! 10/10 would recommend!!

Ok app… but…. I like the app, but It’s so slow, and buggy. There’s times that Im typing and it freezes and there nothing that I can do because the app shuts down and restarts. That happens quite frequently plus the app itself is difficult to use, for people that are not tech savvy the app needs to be more user friendly. The other thing it needs is like an option to delete all posts and texts from a previous season at once. I’ve looked all over the app and it’s pain staking deleting one post or message at a time.

No Contact Us Assistance. Hi, I seemingly have been forced to pretend to download this app in order to leave a message. Is there anywhere that customer service is provided? Do you have any way to contact this platform? My phone number was added to your platform without my authorization. As someone who is quite familiar with app’s and the use of MFA steps I have concerns about my information being used by another entirety. Concerns that could be easily calmed if only there was a way to contact someone. Please let me know what I need to do to ensure my information is not being used without my authorization. Please direct to wherever it is you’ve hidden the customer service page. FAQ does not seem to provide the assurances I’m seeking. I look forward to your reply.

I need help and the support website is in a different language I don’t understand. I updated the band app today, and now predictive text and autocorrect does not work in the chatrooms. I know that it is an issue with band app itself, and not my phone because Auto correct and predictive text works on everything else on my phone, and even works if I am making a post in a band, it just is not working in the band chatrooms. How do I fix this? Other than that the app is pretty cool most of the time

Band problems. Hi! The only problem that I’m having with this app is that when I used it this past time it would take forever to load and I would even check my Wi-Fi and internet connection and it wasn’t that . Ive used it for years for the same band groups so I’m very familiar with it. I deleted the app and tried to log back in several times but when im in the process of logging in it brings a little bar down and says “the internet connection is lost” or “check your internet connection” and I do and it still does the same thing. Please help!

Need calendar filters!. Love everything about this app except that there’s no way to filter the calendars you can see! I run a small studio with different level classes throughout the week and would love for my members to be able to view only the classes at the level of their choosing. So if you tapped “calendars” from the menu, you would first see a list of the calendars that Admin has already created, and then you can select one or multiple to view events for. Unless there’s already a way to do this and I’ve missed it??

Annoying. I’m pretty stinkin annoyed at how difficult this app is to navigate. I only use this because of my daughter’s middle school sports team and honestly wish we’d just use email because the only thing I want to know from her coach: the schedule. And finding that on this app is ridiculously frustrating. So many clicks around. And then I’m being notified of messages and haven’t even found where those are because it’s not in the chat box. So where is it and how can make them go away? Do I care what other parents are talking about anyway? Nope, I usually only care what the coach is saying and it’s way easier to ask in person or send her an email.

Sports Talk. I have been using Band for just about 3 years for all of my volleyball teams and it has been amazing! 🤗 👉🏼 This app is an awesome way to keep in contact with not only parents but the players and fellow coaches as well. I find it helps us communicate in a fun and interactive way that keeps us all updated instantly. 📸 From sharing posts to photos, it’s definitely been a game changer and I won’t use anything else. Check out the stickers you can add to your pictures as well, makes for a fun team picture. 😏😉

App won’t let you delete it in IOS. The app itself seems to work fine but it turns out I didn’t need it any longer so I tried to remove it from my device. When you try to delete it only gives you an option to remove from the Home Screen which then leaves it in the App Library. There is no way to remove it from the App Library so you better make sure you want this app forever because it’s not going anywhere. Very disappointing and seems like a loophole Apple better figure out otherwise they will soon have App developers using it to keep an app connected to a user forever!

Glitchy notifications. Been using this app for almost a year now, the last few month it has been giving me false notifications. For example it will say I have 4 new messages, but when I click into the app, there are no messages or maybe just one or two, not the 4 it notifies. Also sometimes my messages don’t load right. I would have a message from person “A”, but the message will have a picture from person “B.” I have to restart the app too fix this. That issue does not happen often, but the incorrect notifications is getting annoying.

This thing is a rusty App. Loading pictures is a battle. I link to pictures and I have this stupid question asked. Then I say select more. My most recent picture is not available. I cancel it then go back and it is there. Heaven forbid I try a second time to upload a picture because the stupid question box doesn’t appear so therefore I cannot upload a picture until I close it all and close the app to make it work. Are we working with young apprentice to design this thing. This is just one of many gripes I have about this stupid app my son has chosen to keep in touch.

Videos need to stop freezing. I have promoted Band to all of my kids groups because the organization abilities and management aspects of the app are great. I love the separate groups within a main group so I can get info that only pertains to my child but after 2+ years I still can’t watch an entire posted video without it freezing. It isn’t an internet issue. It’s an app issue. Many parents complain because students can’t practice if they can’t view the videos. I try to download them but I never know if a download has started so either end up with no download or multiple of the same. It’s frustrating and I end up not even bothering to try viewing anymore.

Deletes chats. This app can be very useful for groups to keep everyone updated which is why I gave it 3 stars. However, it keeps deleting messages in the chat when I go to look at them. It has happened several times when I’ve been trying to share important information to my daughter’s coach. I am missing important messages because it will give me the notification that there is a message but when I go to read it there’s nothing there. And it has happened more than once….might have to use a different app for communication.

More spam than anything. I am at a loss with this app. We got it for a weekly meeting group, and the whole purpose was to eliminate the notification spam that can happen in a group text thread. In the app’s settings, I have EVERY notification turned off except for comments and posts in my “band”, yet I still get push notifications for stickers, new feature announcements, and random “happy st. Patty’s day!” notifications. Im going to revoke notification privileges, but that is also not ideal. My Response to developer’s response: Yes I know. They are off. I still got them. I finally just revoked notification privileges from the app altogether. If I miss an important update from my group, well... that’s better than constantly having my life interrupted by useless advertising from this app.

Actually works pretty well. I am a staff member of the largest art centered group on the App. I have been using the app for what will be a year in June, and I really have no issues with it. I’ve made amazing friends, and the user interface is fine. Most of the people on this claiming the user interface is “bad” or that they have trouble, really have NO idea what they are doing. Their problems are easily solved. The BAND team is helpful and helps us with art contest prizes. I think they’re doing pretty well.

8.5 series Updates Ruined Band. Our Jazzercise classes were moved from Zoom to Band because of serious disconnection issues. We thoroughly enjoyed Band without interruptions. About 2 months ago, Band did an update starting in the 8.5 series updates and we have been getting kicked off and continue to get a black screen for the live streamed class with an error stating we “don’t have permission to view…” We are able to make comments but not see or hear the video. This is so frustrating for us students and happens so much that we are angry. Band needs to revert back to the 8.4 series updates before all these problems started. Maybe we should just go back to Zoom!!!😡

Chat Feature Bugs & Help Center not Helpful. I am involved in three different Band groups two of which have been very active for several years. Generally speaking we love the app except… Since the latest update the Chat feature is extremely buggy. Some people added to a chat can’t access the chat. Other can access the chat but can’t see the content. I have contacted customer support through the Help Center in the app but receive a general response asking for information that was already provided. Please fix the chat bugs!

Love this app. This app has been such a great source for communicating amongst managers within our soccer club. It has definitely helped in keeping everyone on the same page while saving time by cutting out having to make individual phone calls. I love that you’re able to sync dates & times of meetings etc. that are posted into your calendar on your phone. I also like the fact that you’re able to view the questions & answers so it’s not repeated, as well as who has viewed the post. All around this app is superb!

Loving the App so far! would like to suggest some features!. Currently using the app for a worship team. I love everything implemented in the app so far. Great work with the integration of uploading different types of files, this will make things easier for everyone to access lyrics and notes in one app. I have a few suggestions to some features that would make this perfect for myself and maybe others as well. 1st suggestion: would be letting the admin share his/her screen with everyone during a video call. 2nd suggestion: Having the ability to assign members to events. example : I have 2 drummers and 2 Keys players, I would like to assign 1 drummer and 1 key player to a Friday event and the others to a Sunday event. With this they will easily see which days they are assigned to. But overall I am really loving the App, Makes it really easy to keep things organized and manage the team. Good work !

Horrible for Sending Photos and Videos. I have used Band for the last two years with a dance team and it is by far one of the worst communication apps I have used. We use band mainly for sending videos of our performances and teaching material and almost everyone in the group has trouble playing the videos and saving them to their device. All types of phones, carriers, and wi-fi strengths have been used and everyone has the same issue. If a video does play, there is a lot of buffering and it is very long. I do not recommend using Band if you have a lot of video and/or photos that you have to share with the group.

Great for church leaders. We use band for our church groups. It’s great to have all of your leaders in one place and be able to contact them all with one easy message. They can then comment easy. No need be looking through email threads or receiving lots of texts messages from group text messages. My only issue is that the app takes forever to download new posts. I often have to back in and out of the app to see a new post, comment or shout. It is also super easy to miss a post because a notification or red dot didn’t load. It would be great if this could be fixed.

Good, but too many notifications!. Generally, the Band app does a decent job of keeping groups well organized and for getting critical information out to everyone. However, the app generates far toomany notifications, and the notification settings are quite limitted. For every post in a band/group, I get at least two notifications: once when the post is first pistedy, and again later to "view any posts I may have missed." Chat messages also generate a lot of notifications. On top of that, I frequently get posts from Band itself about the product or sales they are running. That's just too much. I'm a parent using Band to keep track of my kids participation. I don't need product posts, I'm not going to setup my own group anytime soon. If there were more settings to control what notifications are generated, then this app would be a solid five stars. But right now, it's just far too noisy.

Band. We use Band for our Cub Scout Pack and it’s pretty nice to be this organized and not have to select every member in a list of contacts to send a text to the whole group! However, what I would like to see is the option on the Calendars - to allow my Leaders or “everyone” to edit specific Calendars and not have to give them blanket admin or co-admin rights to the entire group. Also not to be able to edit all calendars, just specific Calendars. That would be even more awesome!! Thanks for keeping your app updated with new abilities!!!

With the intensity of 1000 white hot suns…. That’s how much I hate this app. Not intuitive, not clean, cannot delete outdated chats/notifications/feeds/…TOO BUSY! TOO MANY NOTIFICATIONS! Too much internal Band promotional garbage. Holy cow, I’ve been on group apps for years with kid sports and never had to deal with one this infuriating. This is the worst yet. And I’ve been mandated to use it. Bzzzzzz. Update: even better. The app developers sent me the boiler plate response of how to turn off Band notifications. In it they also had a link to “speak with a developer” that when clicked generated drop down menus written in Korean. And it still doesn’t answer how to turn off “leadership by Band” streams and other themes to follow. Enough!

Great Ideas, So-So execution. I love the BAND app… seriously- it makes cataloging our exercises and run throughs so easy. There are a lot of great functions- however some features on the app just don’t work super well… For example, the labeling feature. I love the idea, but it’s super buggy. I try to label something, and sometimes it flat out doesn’t work, sometimes it links to the correct label but doesn’t show the post anyway… very annoying but if it gets fixed, that will be an awesome feature!

The worst app I’ve ever used!. I have used this app for 4 years while on a competitive dance team, and never has the video function EVER worked properly. The video feature was a very important one for my dance team, especially during covid when many of our routines were taught not only on zoom, but recorded and posted to band. There were so many other reasons we needed the video feature, but let me tell you guys it does not work. It glitches, bugs out, buffers constantly, and I’ve tried everything; I also make sure my I have good internet connection or full bars of LTE. So basically if you need an app to connect with your team, and videos are something you guys use, don’t get this app.

Terrible Company Stay Away!!!. They deleted our local and highly active airsoft group out of nowhere. It’s been around for almost a year. Band fully locked me the admin out of my account for 7 days, and now I have access to my account and I can’t communicate with any of my 700 plus members or any previous chatrooms or direct messages I had with members. On top all this all the members of the group lost all contact info of their fellow members. This is complete censorship! They emailed and told me that in their terms and conditions when you sign up they have the right to delete your group for any reason and theirs nothing that can reverse their decision. I asked for their superiors contact info but they keep ignoring the request. Complete waste of 1000s of hour of work on this group.

Suggestion. I love the ease and convenience of the BAND app, but it’s a serious drawback that admin/moderators can’t delete chat messages after they’ve been sent for 5 minutes. I use the app for youth group and teens say stuff they shouldn’t sometimes without thinking. The only way to get rid of a message, then, is to delete an entire chat room. Is there a reason why this isn’t a feature? Otherwise I love having the calendar and post features all in one app, and adding members to the group is easy yet secure. I just wish this one feature was implemented!

Really laggy.. This is an essential app for the arts program at my school. We use this for setting up events and posting tracks, choreography, etc. However, it’s sooo laggy. Everytime I click on a video to watch it, it takes a good minute for it to play. Even then, it often decides to stop playing out of nowhere. My main issue is with downloading videos. It refuses to download anything without me having to repeatedly tap on the download button for a good few minutes. Overall, I wish this app wasn’t so difficult with videos.

Slow to load, quick to notify. The app will notify you of something faster than actually downloading the content of that data and having it ready for you once you open the app. This makes it very annoying. Most times I will get a notification on my phone that I got a message in one of my chats but it won’t load it into the app till you open it. Sometimes it won’t even load till I back out of the chat and then open the chat again. File uploading is clunky. No good desktop support. App itself isn’t optimized for speed seems like.

Great, but one thing NEEDS to change. Im am a kiddo. Not gonna say the age, cause (duh), and needed this app for a school organization. Love how the app is very fluid and very easy to navigate. But were not here to talk about that. I had to sign in to access the group chat and after putting in my data for age and stuff, was not applicable. Like, what the frick? I had to use My parents phone, so now i have to use their phone instead of mine. So if someone doesn’t have the luxury of a parents phone, do they have to lie about their age? Very uncool. VERY, VERY uncool. If i knew it was like that, i would have just used Remind. And not gonna mention the bugs and glitches. Please fix the broken mechanic

New user. We are trying this out for a travel softball team. I'm still learning a lot of the features and I think it will work great for us. One feature that I don't see that would be super helpful is a way to reimburse the coaches or send money directly through the app (like Facebook) Pretty much every team/club/group I know requires dues and payments so I think this would be a helpful option. If you have it already and I'm missing it please point me in that direction. Thanks and looking forward to better communication :)

App is “okay.”. I can’t say I love - or even like - this app. I’ve had to use it for one group I’m involved in for 2 years now. The app is not direct or simple. I get the same notifications for feeds and comments (which are the same, so I have to click on both to remove the notifications). I can’t turn off the notifications for Band offers and stickers, so that’s annoying (seriously, who cares about Band offers??). I do appreciate the ability for our group to post pics and files, but again, not the best app set-up for us accessing this stuff. Overall, I would not recommend Band - way too repetitive and not streamlined in format.

Live-streaming Issues. Overall, the Band app is a great. The issue that I come across is that the live streaming option Will not the available for certain groups. Everything is the same, but one of the groups will not allow for live streaming… So I am unsure how to fix this. We at our studio advertise this as a way for parents to watch their children, and when the option is not available, it is a huge disappointment to the parents whom were promised a livestream. Any advice on how to deal with this would be fantastic

No ads!. I have used this app for a few years now and previously loved it, but the recent addition of ads everywhere makes this program look like spam. I don’t care if they are only on the adult feeds; I run an educational nonprofit and ask parents to use your services, but this does not reflect the values of our organization. They cheapen the product, ruin the user experience, and make us appear completely unprofessional. Furthermore, I will never ask our parents to join a program that requires a paid subscription, if you are heading in that direction. I am currently exploring other options for my groups and will stop using the program if this doesn’t change.

Just updated and the app keeps giving me error messages. It is a good concept but very buggy. I joined 2 groups on Band a few months ago and today I was looking at old posts and the app keeps giving me error messages. I updated the app and after updating, I couldn’t access any posts and wasn’t shown as a member and everything was deleted, nothing was shown. A few hours went by and then I was shown as a member again but after I tried to view older posts I again was not able to go into the group and was not shown as a member. I emailed support so I’ll wait to see what they say. It’s very annoying though!

Notifications don’t go away like they should. This is a great app. My child’s high school marching band uses it and it’s very handy. We used it extensively during our trip to Disney World. My biggest gripe is that when I follow the notifications to read the newest messages, it still shows the red dot on the home screen as if I didn’t read it. I then have to go back into the feed and open it again. Even then, it’s rather slow to make the red dot go away. I practically spend more time going in and out of messages and waiting to make sure the dot disappears than I do actually reading the messages.

Terrible app!. I just downloaded the app and entered my information to access the app,verified the account and was sent to the login page. I entered my credentials and then it sends me back to the login! It did this several times and I created an account with my email. Same thing happened except this time I was told my account didn’t exist or that I tried too many times to access it and it told me to start another account. What kind of foolery is this?!? Straight up ridiculous! The worst part is,I want to delete the accounts I created-which I can’t access because it’s telling me that I entered the wrong info or that it doesn’t exist. Someone needs to contact me about this! Bad business!

Smoke Signals Would Be More Effective. This app is terrible. It is poorly organized and hard to use. My current issue is that when I attempt to enter or reset my password the app gets hung up on the spinning circle and then times out. I have lost close to an hour today just trying to solve this problem. This app is trash and I will be glad when I no longer have to rely on it to provide me with information. If you are just starting to use this app appeal to whoever is in charge to use anything else. A phone tree, or email would work better than this shoddily conceived programming nightmare. Save yourself now while there is still time!

Love it!❤️. This is such an amazing app! I can talk to all of my friends and post pictures and text them all even if we have different devices! And I don’t have to worry about it going on to social media because this app is just basically social media to your friends devices!! So if you aren’t allowed to have social media but want to post pictures and like photos and comment on other peoples post (well at least your friends only the people in your “BAND”.) well than this is defiantly the app for you

Still learning!. Using for our competitive dance team and I am happy with new updates. However, there are 2 things I REALLY wish were there. 1. The ability to delete a specific chat room. We added a chat room for national competition. It contained about 42 members. Now we are stuck with that chat room when the event was over in July. 2. The ability to preview a post before everyone sees it. I was learning the attendance feature, and I had to edit several times but not before everyone could see it and freak out about what was going on.

Why so this so hard?. Why is it impossible to download pictures from my phone into this? You have a picture album page but no way to import pics. First I have to download a file to Dropbox then to the app then when you open it you can’t move it anywhere. This is what I hate about these types of apps, there is so much junk in them you don’t really need and the stuff you would actually use is neglected. When I first downloaded the app and set it up I was able to pick a photo from my phone’s files for a profile pic. No way to get back to that. At least not that I have found from searching for the last half hour.

Great for our church group!. This app is great for our group because it functions similarly to Facebook groups without being Facebook. It’s easy to use and organizes events and conversations well. The only thing I wish we could do is attach files/embed signup lists/etc. directly in a new calendar event instead of just in a post. We have to add those things in a post separate from the calendar event and it would be so much more efficient to just keep it all in one place.

Annoying App. What’s the point of a notifications settings if over half of the notifications are from Band talking about their app? Allow me to turn those off like a can control any other group or put them somewhere else in the app. I’m going to the notifications section to see important relevant information not updates, tips, notices, stickers, learn mores, holiday messages, use examples, and other things that belong in the “more” section. Response: The “solution” offered doesn’t prevent those notifications from showing up inside the notifications tab in the app.
