Do not waste your time. Absolute trash. They use their own server and DNS. TOTALLY INACCURATE. App said I was getting 125 Mbps download, turned around and used the Speedtest App and got 650 Mbps and I’m getting 916Mbps at my modem. Wasted an hour and a half doing 50 points through out my 2000 sq/ft house.

Don’t waste your time.. Don’t waste your time. This does nothing until you purchase a $600 plus dollar professional app that works with it. They should say something.

Not what I expected.. This did not do what I thought it was going to do at all. I read that this was going to help me identify my Wi-Fi band that I was operating it. Instead, all it did was test the speed of my network. Which I can get for free all over the place. The planning option of a Wi-Fi map is not something that I think any consumer really needs. Unless, they have a huge house. Nine dollars for this is criminal.

Don’t waste your money. App provides a speed test that you can get for free and a heat map that requires a floor plan. I wanted this solely to identify what channels my neighbors are using. Please refund my money. Used it for 2 minutes and found it useless.

Requires hardware. With out the hardware device the only thing you can do with this app is an Internet speed test, but in the app description the developer says that this app works without the device. Recommend that they develop or update the description to properly describe what works out the hardware.

WiPry not needed???. “Get started by connecting WiPry 2500x via USB” is the message I first see after install. Why bother with this app when all you can see is speed test by clicking top right corner. There are better apps out there and provide better visuals and functionality than this one. Deleting app within a few minutes....pointless.

Bait and switch - remove this app. Don’t download this app. The developer makes it seem like this will work without their expensive WiFi spectrum analyzer device but that’s a lie. You have to buy the WiFi spectrum analyzer otherwise you’re limited to only performing speed tests. There are better apps for speed tests. Stay away from this one.

Works as described. I know that the title of this review doesn’t sound like a ringing endorsement but it truly is, considering how many apps simply do not live up to the hype promoting them. I found NetSpot tone user friendly and intuitive and the information derived from its use very useful.

Pointless app, don’t download. It requires a hardware purchase, but the market it as “free”. Should anyone buy network security hardware from a company that tries to scam you before you even download the app?

What site survey?. I’ve been an IT professional for many years and while I understand that there are different language choices, by site survey I was expecting the app to give me information about other Wi-Fi connections in the area. The explanation in the App Store is ambiguous at best and apparently, despite the use of the term “site survey” in the description, and on the graphics, There is no such feature as I interpreted it. I tried to find more information on the developer website, but when I do a search for something, the results read more like marketing language, and do not give any detailed information, that I can find, that is helpful in anyway. But oh well for me because I already paid for it and it is not eligible for a refund. It’s useless for my purposes without being able to survey the site for other Wi-Fi networks including, but not necessarily limited to, channels being used.

Seriously?. I saw on the app notes that the desktop connection was not required. But the app indicates otherwise when loaded. How is this even allowed in the App Store?

Still wants an Oscium. Downloaded it for a WiFi analyzer. Got the message about the WiPry, and the only other button led to an internet speed test, which I don’t need. Deleted immediately.

Misleading. Only does upload and download everything else you need desktop app. Should be pulled from store or updated correctly.

SPEED. AMAZING APP

Requires expensive hardware connected via USB. The only functionally provided without the hardware is a pretty useless download speed test. The app should state that it requires the hardware in its tittle or immediately visible part of description. Currently it mentions it below the fold.

Click bait - good tool but does not work with desktop app. This is a really great tool but there is no way to share the captured data with the desktop app. This leaves you with making a huge time commitment to view a heat map with no ability to work with the data except to export the image. This is frustrating as every time you use the app it offers you a discount to download the app.

Costs $649?! That’s too bad!. This app requires that you own a $649 external device. Why should I even consider doing that when your desktop app uses the internal hardware inside the machine to analyze interference in Wi-Fi frequencies and their respective channels? This is what I was hoping to do on my iPhone, but there’s no other app out there that can do that, and unless this app can utilize the internal hardware of an iPhone without crashing, and not require that expensive $649 external hardware, I’d say this app is pointless, and a complete ripoff, regardless if the app part is free.

Sketchy. I opened the app to a minimal developer opening screen and that was it.........literally. Not sure if this was some sort of joke, an app in a development phase, or something harmful; I deleted to be safe. If any responsible rep from Apple is reading this, please check it out. Thanks

Worthless. I bought the app and wanted to use it for heat mapping a friends Airbnb. We drove an hour to the place and didn’t bring an architect’s map so we couldn’t use the app. Here is a thought - use the camera to create the map. Then use the software to heat map it. But as it is, I have wasted time, gas and money for a useless app! If I could give negative stars, I would.

Not what it advertises!. False advertising! I was looking for a simple WiFi signal strength meter. This app shows that’s what it is. NOPE! This app is the instruction manual on how to plug in your device with an ethernet cable and says that without it all you can do is a simple speed test. I can get that in any browser. Don’t waste your time with this app!

Garbage. What a stupid app. I downloaded because they released an update that said didn’t require wipry, but all that doesn’t require it is the speed test which isn’t why I downloaded the app in the first place. I wanted it to do what the netspot desktop app does. Secondly to use wipry with the phone you have to attach it via usb dongle which completely defeats the purpose of having an app. Huge fail all the way around. Someone wasted a ton of money developing this.

This app is not what it’s advertised to be!. I purchased this app because it came up first when I searched for “How to find info about hidden networks on home WiFi”. Well after purchasing, this app does not pick up any info or that there is a hidden network present, but go to available networks and the hidden network is there! Just like every other app in the store! Does nothing it’s suppose to do! It’s false advertising and theft by deception!

Terrible App. I read the other reviews but figured the app would have functionality of some sort without the 649$ appliance. I was totally wrong. It prompts you to connect to it on app open, and the only thing you can do if you don’t, is a simple speed test. Do not bother with this app.

App helps to build wifi heatmaps and measure wifi internet speed, works well, but limited…. I did not expect they would do that, but they did. For a long time, this app had a 1-star rating because to use it, you had to buy an additional, expensive hardware device. But with this release, they somehow managed to visualize WiFi and create heat maps using just an iPhone, and it's really free. What I didn't like is that the app looks like a beta version, not a full-featured release. It lacks any settings and offers just two features: WiFi Internet Speed Test and WiFi HeatMaps. So, don't expect to deal with a full-featured WiFi Analyzer. But overall, I would say it deserves a 5-star rating

Barely works. I was hoping this app would help me easily map my wifi strength in each room. It requires a survey or some sort of aerial photo so I found one. But then it asks you to stand for 30 seconds in each 5x5 square section of the house while it calculates the speed. Why this can’t do it real time with gps is beyond me.

Requires a picture of your home. What kind of stupidity is this? Just draw a map based on motion. If Roomba required a picture of a home, they’d never sell any vacuums.

Exact additional hardware required. They have really cool options available on the app, but you have to have an external expensive piece of hardware to use it. That should be listed in the title and their website should also state that clearly.

Easy to use tool. Simple to setup and use. Takes a little adjusting to set max and min speeds for the heat map.

scam - should not even be on the app store. this is a paid app disguising itself as a free one. I do hope that apple did its home work and did introduce a hacking app on its store. deleted the app within seconds of using it

Heat Map Time Consuming. The heat map requires a schematic of your facility. Then every few feet you need to test the signal. A regular size house could take hours. If the app just showed detailed WiFi signal strength it might be worth the money. It will test internet speed and do ping tests easily but I bought it to measure WiFi. Wasn’t worth it.

Sells under false pretences. Avoid.. Netspot is a great desktop device. However, to use the iOS version you have to connect to a desktop app called Wipry2500, which costs $649. Yes, you read it right. Ridiculous. Deleted immediately. The thing that gets me was the perceived dishonesty. They could have been upfront about this. Such a shame as they have a nice little desktop app with Netspot.

Can’t even scan house. I uploaded an image of the floor plan of my house, set a known distance from one side of the house to the other, set the right sized grid, and scanned the first location. Then I walked to the other side of the house (like 50 ft away), and tried to scan a 2nd location. Error: “Data point too close to the previous one”. There is no apparent way to get past this. Useless app.

Not NetSpot’s Fault. Apple, in the interest of privacy and security, has locked down everything; the ability to scan surrounding networks and map signal strength and channels being one of them. On the one hand it’s ridiculous that can’t be done on my phone, on the other hand, unrelated apps tracking this info may have gotten too much and I appreciate the extra security precautions/restrictions Apple has placed on IOS. So, I can’t rate this app a low score for requiring a separate USB device to do something with the iPhone that would normally use iPhone hardware. Note: I’m not affiliated with NetSpot developers

This is a wifi speed test app. That’s all it is. If you want to run any sort of analysis you need to buy a $600 external hardware and connect it to your phone to run the diagnostics. Completely useless without it.

No instructions; can’t get to work. First, there are no instructions. If you’re going to have an app the functions on intuitive steps, the steps need to be intuitive. I set up a project, imported a map, defined distance and took the first reading. Then moved to a second point. The locator moved automatically and I got a 2nd reading. But when I moved to a third point, the indicator did not follow. “Scan” was non-functional. I manually moved the map so the new point (why did I have to do that and not for the 2nd point?). Still no functional scan. After multiple tries, finally a message appeared saying no signal. But I did have a signal (both WiFi and cellular). Tried all this again. Same result. No idea what to do. Gave up….

Finally a worthy WiFi survey app. Oh my, there’s finally a decent WiFi heatmapper for home users and small biz. Fast and very smooth. Great for my network design classes, too.

Too basic. Only overlays download or upload speed tests onto a background image. Can’t do signal levels. Does not work well for multiple access points. Can’t even view individual results. Does not important from maps. Results will be unreliable if done on a n operating network.

Wifi Heat-map is very easy to construct. The Wifi Heat-map app works as per description. Very quick to get started with, and easy to use. Option for adding floor plan helps immensely. Does exactly what I want straight out of installation.

Useful but reported speeds aren’t accurate. Maybe the app has changed at some point, I was able to install and start heat mapping without any additional hardware that others have mentioned (iPhone 12 Pro). The speeds being reported are lower than the speeds I can attain from other speed test apps at the same locations at the same time (Speedtest.net, fast.com, testmy.net, self hosted iPerf), but still pretty good. I suspect this is likely from geolocation to yet another speed test service, but havent looked into it. Really great feature that I find useful is that you can set your own definition of upload and download speeds, and the heat map respects that, therefore you can easily visualise the map based on your on preferences.

Disingenuous - requires a $1K Spectrum Analyzer. It is not really their fault. The App Store blocks wifi site survey apps, and has since 2010. They should point out in the description that a $1000 spectrum analyzer device is needed to do a site survey.

Very bad, terrible, useless. After using the excellent macOS version, I am very disappointed with this iOS version. This is not at all what I expected. I can’t do anything with this app: no signal strength measurement, nothing.

No price indicated.. My app store button only showed a “Get” and I was charged $10 for something that doesn’t offer any diagnostics. I’m upset that I’ll have to call to attempt a reversal of charges. What an awful app.
