Trash app. This app is garbage. If you don’t pay the 40$ a month fee then you literally can’t contact rental properties. They hold your message for a week until (obviously) the property is already taken.

Satisfactory. Overall it’s a good app. However, there are some improvements they can make. One of them is they should do a follow up of listings that have already been taken because so far many of the listings of rooms have already been taken and it still shows as though it is still available. This should be corrected. Another thing I didn’t like is that I paid for their phone numbers to show but that wasn’t the case because in most of the listings the person has not shown any number anyway, making that payment useless.

It works in such a simple way. Very effective and intuitive app for anyone looking to rent a room or looking to rent out a room. The resources on the website/app are very useful as well.

Popular but average with issues. This is a popular app for finding hoisemates. However the app lacks a lot of functionality. The lack of remembering selections or limiting areas. A radius search feature would be greatly appreciated. Interface improvements are greatly needed too. Have it remember rather than wipe everything if I accidentally click back once too easy. Also the staff do not ever remove dead listings when reported which is an enormous problem.

Thank you Flatmates. In this climate of hard to find safe secure housing l am grateful to have found a home after my third application through the App Flatmates , after months of visiting so many realtors and having no luck.

Horrible service. Really stressful and frustrating the fact that the app doesn’t help me at all, I can’t delete my account and I can’t deactivate it also. The app doesn’t have an easy communication with the customers, I paid $24 for nothing. Just wasted my money. I regret every second and cents that I’ve been spending in this fake help. I really don’t recommend it. If you are looking for an app that is helpful and easy to manage your account, this is definitely not the one. Horrible service. Liars.

Easy to use. Found a great flatmate using this app within 1 week. Great app but the chat feature could be better. It lags a bit and the notifications don’t always align (in terms of messages read and unread). The verified feature is amazing and the ease of listing your property (along with uploading images) is also great. Great app overall!

Recommend. I’ve used this so to find places within my budget and desired location and is was so easy and I have already recommended it to friends and families who are thinking of renting out spaces or for those who are looking for affordable places to stay that can accommodate their needs. I would 100% recommended this and I’ve used it for almost a year now and I’ve found what I need every time

App won’t log in. App used to be good to use, now whenever I log in with my facebook account opens Facebook in my web browser instead of my flatmates account, and there’s no option to stay logged in to the app. Being unable to log in to my account on the app means I can only use it on my pc which defeats the purpose of having the app

Nothing. This is the worst site I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. I have been told to finish my draft several times but don’t know what else I can do I have had enough of paying money for a service and getting know where. What is missing from my listing? You never say just want more money. My listing is finished and I expect something for the money you don’t mind taking. I expect a reply from person y tomorrow or i am going to the Ombudsman first thing Monday, brenda

Important and useful app, could use some improvement. The app itself is an integral part of finding a share house, but they could really update/improve their interface. The app itself glitches, and the messaging interface could be improved.

A great site to find someone suitable. The site makes finding someone easy, especially when you’re trying to find someone who fits your ideal criteria. People are usually polite and friendly and respectful of each other’s preferences. I’ve never had a bad experience.

App has some technical issues. Not a bad site but with the app there has been issues with typing messages, it plays up a lot when I start typing, I have to keep trying to start a message, it jumbles around the letters I type or does not recognise the first letters but once it’s started correctly there’s no issues with continuing the message and it lags as well. Otherwise a pretty good site.

Room mates. This concept works a lot better that I thought it would at first. I’ve met a lot of great people through this app and the people I have chosen to rent my my rooms have worked out great.

Amazing. Thank you so much for this app. I have found a place to live with wonderful people. I was hesitant to pay for this service but I’m so glad I decided to (The best thing I did). Thank you for the excellent service and experience.

No longer happy. I’ve used Flatmates for years but there seems to be lots of problems with the app. I put in the postcodes Flatmates may be searching for and the results come back for all over the state. I waste loads of time trying to find new flatmates who are actually looking for houses in or close to our suburb. There is also not option to remove unsuitable people from your feed. If I’ve looked at a profile and it’s not a great match for one reason or another, id like to be able to ‘swipe’ them off the list altogether so I do t have to keep wading through the same list including all the ones that are not a match for us. There also doesn’t seem to be a system of flushing out the no longer looking profiles which remain up for months.

Bug for view message. The application has too many bugs. Sometimes it shows available rentals that aren't actually available. Moreover, some scammers roam the app without facing any consequences, as they reappear in other listings weeks later. There is also a major issue with the messaging system; you have to constantly refresh, refresh, refresh, and it still doesn't work properly.

Needs work. Iphone 6s ios15 Going through pages of search results and when viewing a profile then returning to search results means starting back to page 1 everytime… not possible to maintain the search result page i was currently on? Very frustrating. Trying to copy a message i sent in inbox results in app freeze/lockup. Also very frustrating. Fake profiles also contact me pretending to be interested in my listing and then straight away say they already found somewhere else. Then why are these multiple accounts still active and online weeks and months after saying they found somewhere? Seems like bs

Great platform; mostly very good app. Flatmates as a platform is great for finding new places and new housemates. I’ve successfully used it for both. The app is mostly very good; improved message functionality would be good (e.g. ability to search inbox for user name; ability to filter and sort by different parameters e.g. newest to oldest). Currently the messaging function is not very intuitive.

Fix this please. can you please help me most of the time if i am in a listing and try to just one strp back it takes me all the way back to main menu please fix this.

Good app expect one thing. When you press on someone’s profile in the short list category and then get out of it to click on the next persons you have to wait for all of them to reload again which takes a while. It’s very frustrating

The worst app!!!. I can’t be the only thing that thinks this app needs a lot of work? I’ve used it a few times over the past few years and hoped it would get better - can confirm it has not. My biggest complaint is when you click on a listing and click back, it makes you start the entire search and enter the suburbs all over again. It would be a great platform for renters - pleaseeeee fix this! It’s so painful to use

Do NOT use this app. The people running it would rather punish people who are vulnerable looking for a urgent place to stay then remove people who are dangerous and have dodgy listings on their app, there are lots of shady people ilkegally subletting on here and when confronted with proof flatmates would rather just ignore the facts and allow these dangerous individuals to continue their tyrade looking for desperate people to move in who will tolerate their behaviour towards them. Utter joke.

Improving but needs a bit of work. Chat format needs improvement and is a bit clunky. As soon as you leave a page or chat, your draft is wiped. Would be good to specify if you are open to multiple things like car parking (off street and on street) not just selecting one

Great App to help get a Flatmate. Flatmates is a great app to connect with people who need a place to live on it or you’re yourself looking for a flatmate! It provides a clear picture and description of your potential flatmate, whilst you provide a series of pictures and description of the place you’re offering. This allows easy inspection online to rule out any people or places who/where you won’t vibe with. The free subscription is just as great as paying for the subscription so really just yo to you’re own preference!

Excellent customer service. I have reached out to Flatmates after an awful experience with a female tenant (no lady ) Never have a experience the filth and attitude from an individual who claimed to be a professional cleaner. Thankyou Flatmates for your ongoing support

Clunky app. Really annoying app is pretty difficult to use. Could do with a bunch of improvements, one being the messaging window when you are typing a message, when composing one you sometimes can barely see what the person has written. Or you randomly can’t scroll. App is slow to load, and going through search results is annoying

Various issues with app. 1. The app still does not send push notifications, despite setting push notifications in both the app and in the iPhone settings. 2. New messages do not refresh unless the app is hard reset each and every time. 3. New messages do not appear in the inbox notification section of the app. 4. When an email is received advising of a new message, the app has to be restarted every time in order to load any new messages. 5. The ‘View Conversation’ button does not work / never works. The app has to be restarted each time. For an expensive app, these basic issues should be resolved, particularly the push notifications.

Weird people on it. The overall app is great and there’s lots of good options. However, it doesn’t look like they screen people well enough. There’s some creeps who try to flirt with you and others that create fake listings and ask you to meet them in places. Be careful and make sure you never go to an inspection without telling someone where you’re going.

Great site !!!. This is the second time I have used flatmates and I have found lovely people who appreciate the property and their kindness has been greatly welcomed!!!

Michal. Flatmates is best ether you looking for just room or whole property fast and easy. I was always using Flatmates just to find room in shared house in last 7 years and found the place every time in same week. But last 3 months i was looking for whole property, i tried everything realestate and other agencies and it’s just cost me time and money and in the end i couldn’t find right place and than i was like i will try find property through the FLATMATES and here you go again this website confirmed me that is the best place to find place. 14 day wait period. The app makes you wait up to 14 days to see messages from users, and if you reply to them it’ll also take >14 days for them to see the message, so a total of up to 28 days before you both share a sentence. How on earth this app has nearly 5 stars is confusing me, they make you pay about $30/week (or month?) to get ‘instant’ messages. Marketplace does it all for free, which makes me think what is the purpose of this 14-28 day buffer for free users… The app says it only happens to new users but i’ve been on this app for months and every time someone messages me the message had at least a week’s delay. THEYVE ALREADY PICKED ANOTHER RENTAL/TENANT BY THEN AND IF U REPLY THEY MAY NOT SEE UR MESSAGE FOR TWO WEEKS because of the app’s built-in paywall, i could send WRITTEN LETTERS VIA POST/SNAIL MAIL and it would be quicker 💀 tl:dr if you download this app and try message someone, 14 day message delay occurs unless you pay expensive subscription

System lag. When typing you have quite a significant lag from touch to displaying the letter. Hopefully this can be fixed as it’s frustrating when having to reply to so many requests. Takes up more time having to type slower. The app also doesn’t show new messages for each person. You have to click on it to see if there is a new one. Doesn’t refresh and update the page display

Great option to use for LGBT+ community. Super easy to use. Had a great looking listing up in no time. The boost option certainly helped get my ad noticed. And I had 20 interested people and 13 inspections in 2 days. And was quickly able to find my perfect Flatmates. One thing I loved was the quality of candidates I had the option to choose between to flat with. I’ve used other Flatmate/ share sites before catering directly to LGBT market so have always used those in the past. But they have always led to some really questionable people asking really inappropriate questions. So I decided to use this site instead due to its option to let others know upfront that they would be sharing with a gay person without being in your face about it. Making it really easy to find other gay or LGBT+ friendly Flatmates to share with. I would definitely use this app again over any of the others, for finding LGBT+ friendly Flatmates

Do not pay for premium. Fake listings and no response.. Used to be a decent place to find houses but lately there seem to be fake listings. There are listings which have been there for months and most listings have response rate of 30% or less. I’ve paid thrice and got so many 1 month extensions. I message 30 ppl and get response from 3. If we call the numbers listed nobody received or responds to texts. Don’t bother with this app or gumtree. Seems like everyone has moved to fb. Thanks for making me pay so many times for your useless service. You need to make it mandatory for listers to respond. Looks like you only care about having more listings whether it’s real or not. Do not buy the premium service. Even these early bird listers barely respond. Btw I’m verified with a proper profile pic.

Feedback. I have been using the App for 2 months now and I will say it is very temperamental when it comes to clicking on a profile. I’m very lucky if I am able to open a profile or message first time. Also, it would be helpful if there was a way to tell if your message was received and indeed be notified if it was read by the recipient. I am a paying member.

Frustrating. This app often won’t let me go back and look over a conversation I’ve had with someone. It’s like the limit 2 times before I have to delete the app and then log in again. It gets very frustrating. It does the same with any touch link. Twice and then it freezes.

literally a SCAM. i purchased $25 plan which is a rip off in itself as it only lasts a few days?! and then i cancelled my subscription straight away to avoid them recharging me again. Flatmates STILL charged me another $25 despite me being on a free plan?! they asked me to renew my plan, i did not, they still charged me another $25 to my account. what a joke. do NOT make ANY in app purchases with this app they will charge you and take your money without permission. now i’m following up a refund!

I can't afford expensive rents, also renting sites are anti user friendly and confusing, but not flatmates I found a Lot of options on Flatmates, most were okay, Until I found the perfect one with the perfect price, this app (which I thought would be a waste of time) changed my life, the premium subscription was worth it... NOTE: be quick, check for places everyday, call if you find a match

GREAT LITTLE APP. ‘Flatmates’ is one of the most efficient apps available to find people who need renting. I have used Flatmates for so long now and never been disappointed with their ever improving service.

Over priced. I think it’s ridiculously over priced, can’t contact half of the people on the app because you need to pay almost $30 for a 10 day plan? That’s ridiculous, people are struggling enough as it is for money and struggling to find somewhere to live and your charging that for 10 days !? The app is great in every other aspect but man , cmon , the price for it is stupid.

Feedback/Request for App. Hi Sorry, I couldn’t find the feedback/request section in your site. I frequently use your app for rental needs and wondering if an option to delete or archive the messages be added in the app? It is easier to keep track of potential individuals and remove those that perhaps just enquired or those will not likely proceed with further. Thanks for the work you guys do! Cheers Dee

No responses. I feel that people that have 0% should have their ads removed, it makes no sense to pay for the subscription to have advertisers never respond to people, there should be some incentive for people to respond, I.e when it drops to 50% or lower their ads can be removed in a certain amount of days and when it reaches 0% ad is gone

Far too expensive for no return.. This app is basic in functionality compared to others. I’ve now paid twice and again ZERO matches despite living inner city of Melbourne and having a decent house right near thr beach. There is minimal people signing up these days likely because the service of this app has dropped significantly from years ago when it was good to use. The pro version differences also make no sense - this app needs a revamp in marketing to start attracting users again!

Some aspects are easy but the app is buggy. It’s easy to find places that are the best fit for you - the map is especially great to visualise potential places. However, messaging is a nightmare on the app. Incredibly laggy, buggy, and finicky. Ended up having to message people from the browser on my phone rather than the app.

Seperate appartment from house. This site is well put together and is easy to use. Took just a couple of days to find somewhere in both happy with the location and price. Andrew

Scummy app preying on vulnerable people. This app forces you to spend ridiculous amounts of money to find a place to live. It’s basically useless- as people can’t message you first unless you pay, and it delays your messages to most listings for up to two weeks if you have a free account. It already costs an arm and a leg to rent, and now they’re trying to profit off every step in the process of finding a place to live. Scum.

App needs major updates. App constantly showing that I have a message when I have read all messages, can’t contact anyone to send feedback or suggestions. Unless you pay for the service you have to wait days/weeks to get a response, feel like I’m missing out on a housemate because I don’t get responses from people for days/weeks. When I search for people in my area looking for a place to live, If I click on their profile to have a read and then go back it takes me right back to the search and I have to refill all the filters rather than just going back to the list from the search I just did.

Took me 2 weeks. 2 weeks was all it took for me. Got the plan upgrade and it didn’t take long but I’m glad I got this app. Worked for me, hope it will for you too.
