Less - Alcohol Tracker App Description & Overview

What is less - alcohol tracker app? LESS - Alcohol Tracker

Less is a simple, elegant, intuitive tool to help people who drink alcohol do so more mindfully, and make space for more drink-free days. From the creators of ZERO, the top rated fasting app, Less makes it easy to track your alcohol intake so you can stay aware of how much you drink and when. It’s a science-based approach to taking control of your consumption. As the saying goes, “What gets measured gets managed.”

This app is a judgment-free zone. It’s designed to help anyone who wants to moderate alcohol consumption, no matter what the reason. Whether you’re trying to sail through social situations without overdoing it, overwhelmed by the ocean of work functions involving alcohol, or seeking to chart a course toward better health, Less is your companion to navigate these stormy waters.

**This is v1 of “the drinking buddy that helps you drink less.” We’re rapidly iterating and improving, so we welcome feedback to help make Less as upbeat, engaging, and helpful as possible.**

MEET LES AND LESLIE

Choose to experience the journey toward mindful consumption as either Les or Leslie. You’re the captain of this ship, and every decision is yours. As you log drinks, your daily intake affects the weather while your weekly intake affects your speed. Stay under your daily limit to keep the skies sunny. Stay under your weekly limit to keep the wind at your back. If you exceed your limits, you’ll run into stormy weather and slow your progress.

TRACK YOUR JOURNEY

SET LIMITS. Our algorithm will recommend a weekly limit, but you can customize that limit up or down to work at your own pace.

LOG DRINKS WITH A TAP. Quickly and easily log each drink from the homescreen, or use the widget to add drinks without opening the app for a more discrete tracking experience.

BUILD STREAKS. Less tracks how many drink-free days you rack up in a row so you can visualize your progress.

REVIEW YOUR WEEK. See when you drank and how much. Use this information to inform your choices moving forward.

REVIEW YOUR MONTH. The calendar view lets you see your entire consumption history so you can see the big picture of your alcohol intake.

CHART YOUR PROGRESS. Less transforms your inputs into easy-to understand graphs so you can see how your habits evolve over time.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

With Less, you can…

...Adjust your weekly limits up or down depending on your goals.

...View and edit your history. If you forgot to log a drink, or logged one incorrectly, you can adjust the number from the “past days” screen.

...View key statistics like your 7-day rolling average, your 28-day rolling average, and total drink-free days since joining.

...See how much drinking is costing you. Less estimates how much money you spend on alcohol.

Great for Heavy and Light Drinkers alike!. I’m a light drinker (average 4 drinks or less a week) but I wanted to watch my calorie intake (drinking always increases my weight) and wanted to try this app. I found it helpful in showing me the days I drink the most regularly (weekends) and it also shows approximate calorie increase and cost you have spent as well. I found the character showing you on a calm sea (light drinking) and a stormy one (heavy) very clever and cute if you are more a visual person. I like this app and I think it’s appeal is pretty broad for both types of drinkers.

Great, simple app. Needs Apple Watch app!!!. I love this app because it does exactly what I want. A simple way to track my drinks, with useful visualizations to see my drinking habits. This app would be perfect if I could add drinks from my Apple Watch instead of having to pull out my iPhone each time. Please add an Apple Watch app!

Great job developers. Kudos to whoever built this. It’s a high quality experience that’s helping people better themselves. Thank you! It’s sad to read the entitlement in some of the sub 5 star reviews. This is a free app that someone took the time to develop. Why are you complaining about not being able to import data from other apps or some minor color preferences. Again, great work devs!

This app helped me moderate my drinking when I could never do it on my own. I’ve worked in a bar the past 7 years and could never get sober no matter how hard I tried. Then I started using this app. The beginning was hard. I was still drinking heavily but at least I was tracking it. Once I saw how many drinks I was having a week/month, I snapped out of it. I love the design and ease of use. I love the streaks! Only downside is it’s extremely buggy. I wish the devs would update it more often. I would pay for this app! It’s probably saved my life.

Would love to use it but not connected to my Apple ID. the app seems great and would love to use it but when i cannot go further unless i enable 2way identification on Apple i had to stop. I think it should give me a choice of sharing my data or not. I’m cool to pay for an app that allows me to control the information that i want to share and the level or type of security i want. The idea is good especially if one wants to become more mindful of their alcohol consumption by using automation. For now i will stick with my manual data entry and management. I really hope one day to be able to have more choices.

Nice app with some flaws. Pros: The app has a nice UI that’s easy to understand and use. Doesn’t bother you with ads or lots of unnecessary things. I’ve used it for about 8 months. Cons: The days without a drink and streak counter logic always seems to be broken in one way or another. The “?” drinks count is confusing. If someone didn’t enter a drink that day just treat it as a 0. It’s a nice app that otherwise loses points because some basic functionality is broken.

Simple. Effective. Almost perfect.. As another commenter said, the main issue with this app is the inability to change daily limits. While the drinking trends tracker appropriately labels days as “drink free,” “within limit,” and “daily limit,” on the monthly progress timeline, days that are at the daily limit are marked as “over limit” which feels very defeating. Additionally, I’ve learned that I need to have a weekly limit of 15 drinks to have the daily limit be 3 drinks. Ideally, I’d like my daily limit to be 3 and my weekly limit to be 7. One small change there and this app had everything I’d want in a simple accountability tool!

Simple and useful. There are other drink tracking apps, but they are all so complicated that I don’t use them last. I love that this just has one option and not a million types of drinks to select from. I do wish it had a small selection (beer, wine, liquor, cocktail for example) but it’s not the end of the world. My main request is that the reminder timer be customizable. At least for me a reminder at 8pm every day is a bit too early. Also the contact support button in the settings doesn’t do anything

Easy to use and track. Easiest tracker I’ve used with just a simple tally of drinks per day. Only thing I would change is showing year over year data. I can’t see if my drinking last April is more or less than this April bc the yearly stats only show May thru April. Sort of frustrating.

Amazing concept, needs improvement. I love this app in concept but could be so much improved. Numbers are often inaccurate until you refresh. Weekly totally should say ‘daily’, monthly totals should be ‘weekly’, year should say ‘monthly’. Articles should update or rotate. Daily tally and calendar should be front and center. Give options for what is displayed at the top (eg. days drink-free instead of how many calories I’ve consumed which NO ONE wants to see.) or add how many calories and money I’ve SAVED by cutting back instead of consumed… or the ability to set that timeframe to week or month (a year is just way too long). But that said, I think this is brilliant. I love the art and how the language is around ‘less’ and ‘drink-free’ and ‘streaks’. I appreciate that there is no imagery of wine glasses or language like ‘stop drinking!!’ Which is heavy-handed and counterproductive. Very nice app, just needs a few improvements!!

Great app!. This app is fantastic for helping you keep track of the drinks you’ve had. The UI is easy and beautiful and I really enjoy using it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I’d love an option to add half drinks. I work at a brewery and sample beer all the time and sometimes only have a couple ounces, but still want to log it. Hopefully there will be an update in the future that will allow me to do this.

Super buggy for something that should not be.. I have to quit this app constantly because it displays incorrect information. I’ll open it and it won’t update the day, displaying 2 days ago for example. I get notifications that say I had 0 drinks last week, which was incorrect. It’s the best drink tracker because it’s so simple but they have some serious state management issues in the UI.

Beautiful app but not enough support. This is a beautiful app but there’s just not enough support to make me feel like it’s impacting my life and/or keeping me accountable. When I am under or over my weekly limit, the app doesn’t make me feel like I did a good or bad job, respectively, aside from some animations. I use the developers’ other apps Zero (for fasting) and Oak (for meditation). Compared to Zero, Less just does not get the attention it deserves. This app would be truly great if they added more features, added coaching, and updated the research section more frequently. I will continue to use this app and stand by the developers’ other apps; thus the four star rating. Less could be so much better.

So far mostly good. I really like the simplicity of it, but for being a “judgement free zone” I really don’t like the red every where. I am a beer drinker only and even though I’m 4 drinks under my 10 drink a week limit, logging my 4th beer turns the counter red. Which having 4 beers on a Saturday night I don’t think is that bad, especially when I’ve had two beers the rest of the week. Plus in your rolling average it’s also red. This app is supposed to help control consumption, which I think it it does, and does well, I just don’t like the red everywhere on stats just because we have drinks. The people that are going to use this app, drink, so don’t make us feel bad for logging the drinks.

Helps you see the big picture. Exactly what I was looking for after trying and giving up on a few other apps. Less helps you understand the big picture of your drinking habits, rather than getting lost in the weeds of the number of ounces or calories in each and every drink you have. It’s simple and discrete to log drinks and the calendar view with streaks are nicely presented. This app has helped me be more mindful about moderation.

Great concept, love the simplicity. I absolutely love this app. I was looking at other apps to cut back on my drinking a little and everything was too expensive or complex. The only thing that I would need for this to be five stars is for you to be able to change your weekly limit week by week: for example, last week my limit was 12 drinks, and I drank 12 drinks, this week I want to change the limit to 11. However, when I do that, it says last week I was over my limit. Can you fix this?

Good concept, with early bugs. I really like the concept of the app. Nice to have a historical way of tracking my intake. But with any new app, bugs/feature requests to be expected. Two things. 1. I literally just lost all of my drink logs over the past week yesterday (had to re-enter them by memory). Database issues? 2. FR: Wish there was a way to set a push notification at a specified time of the day (eg bedtime) asking me to log how many drinks I had. It’s too burdensome to remember to pull the app out. Sure I could use an Apple reminder but I prefer the integration. Other than that, great concept and hopefully room for improvements.

This app is exactly what I needed.. I wanted to be more mindful about my drinking, and this app does exactly that. It’s simple and no frills, but sometimes setting a goal and seeing it in front of you are all you need. One change: I wish I could have gone further back in the past on the calendar for tallying drinks in the beginning — I had already been tracking my drinks on paper for some weeks and would like to have that data in the app for comparison.

Great app. Simple, no frills. It’s all you need in a tracker app. For me, the unnecessary bells and whistles the other apps have just distract from the true point of the app, which is to come to terms with your own use. Even when I’m drinking more than I want, this app has become a habit that is easy to keep up, and when it’s time to be mindful again I have the record I need.

Simple and lovely. Been trying to cut back my drinking this year and I love how easy this app is! No searching for drink titles etc... The calendar view is lovely and makes it easy to see the red days :-/ I’m trying to reduce that and stay in the blues and greens :) it definitely makes me more aware and mindful of my drinking trends... So excited to see new features - any preview for what’s on the roadmap?

Makes a real difference. If you track it, it will change. You might know how much you drink, but just having to see it in black and white leads to improvement. One thing the app needs: set start date (or re-start date). Say you’ve been drinking 4-6 drinks a night every night and you decide to make a change on March 1. There’s not really a way to make that the start date of your new lifestyle of moderation. So for the rest of the year, the app acts like you had no drinks all of January and February – which isn’t true, you just hadn’t started yet.

Decent overall, but still a few kinks. As other people have pointed out, there should be the ability to set daily limits, tell me how many calories/dollars I’ve saved by NOT drinking, etc. I’ve also experienced the “logged a drink one day, then had it vanish the following day” issue, and also noticed that I can only log one drink at a time via Siri—telling it “log two drinks” doesn’t get recognized. I’m also not sure why hitting my daily limit causes Less to mark it as “over limit” on the calendar. Overall, though—it’s a perfectly serviceable app that’s allowed me to keep track of (and cut down on) my drinks. That’s all I really need in the end.

Revised from 1 to 4 stars. I was having problems logging data and to my surprise got contacted by the dev team with suggestions on how to fix the issue, which worked. Needs some bugs fixed as others have noted, but what a great concept and customer service experience! I find this app really helpful to track and be mindful of my intake.

Beautiful and Pleasant. This app is the one I am going to keep on my phone. I wish it was a little more aggressive with the notifications, to really get on my case to make me enter data because the app is no good without accurate data, and if I forget or get too drunk or whatever and end up not logging my drinks it will look like you have been drink free when actually perhaps you were on a bender. Also, would be nice to swipe between days, navigating to past days in attempts to enter missing data is a bit difficult. The design is beautiful, I do wish there was an option for a non binary character, but other than that I love my sailor friend. Get this if you have ANY inkling of concern about your drinking, this helps put many things in perspective—-but I am looking forward to some great updates

Really solid, almost perfect. I’ve been using a similar app to track drinking, but given that it want built for the purpose it wasn’t a great fit. Setting a weekly number of drinks goal has been really helpful. My only complaint is the stats are somewhat limited. Would love to see some improvements like more robust graphs and charts like Sleep Cycle or Habitify.

Watch?. App is great - I love it. Bare bones and to the point! Not all this extra stuff you don’t need. The Siri command doesn’t work tho, and that would be SUCH a wonderful feature. It would be so nice to be able to Siri command “add a drink” since when you’re out and about it can be hard to remember to open the app and add etc. Please fix this 🙂

Wish I could set my own start date. Nice app so far, but wish I could add data further back than a week. I just downloaded the app (March), but I started my mindful drinking/sobriety break in January. I really wish that I could enter in all the data since my sobriety date so that I could see my full history, not just the time since I downloaded the app.

Requires cell service to function. Downloaded this app to track my drinks at social events to make sure I didn’t overdo it. But a lot of my social events are in places without service (I live in a small remote town). The app won’t even let you increment your drink count without internet. Like, you click the “add drink” button and get an error. There’s no reason this type of operation can’t be done locally and put in a queue for upload later. Unfortunate because I liked the UI, but it’s basically unusable for me.

I’d pay for more features. This is from the same developers as Zero, a fasting app. It was free for a year or two and then they added pay-for features. I happily pay for Zero now. I’m hoping this is the same model they are using for Less. Very simple, aesthetically pleasing app to use now but hopefully they will add more pay-for features later. I’d really like to be able to adjust price of drinks as I log them and calories if I wish. I also like what another user suggested to be able to do half drinks. Right now I track my alcohol budget through the YNAB budgeting app but it’s a household budget, not just me. I track my calories in Cronometer but it’s not really convenient for just alcohol/accountability. I want a separate tracker for all alcohol related variables. I’d love to see calories consumed+price+number of drinks all in one place, hopefully you guys will deliver!

Beautiful simple app. I love this app for its ease and simplicity. It doesn’t try to manage your entire life or beat you over the head with advertising and complicated steps. You set a weekly goal and it tells you if you’re meeting the goal or not with some helpful feedback along the way. Thank you!

Visually pleasing, couple problems. This app has aesthetically pleasing visuals and I like how you can view past alcohol consumption. My main problem is that when you set a weekly limit, it’s automatically assumed that you’re spreading those drinks evenly over each day. So for example, if my weekly limit is 7 and I put that on one day I have two drinks, it says I’m over my daily limit. But I don’t drink every day, or at least I’m trying not to ! When I do drink it’s probably a weekend where I’ll have several and it’s annoying that the app counts this as a breach if I’m still under my weekly limit.

Buggy.... I reinstalled this app, intending to start over and be more consistent since this is the beginning of the year. Firstly, the app literally forces me to “sign in with Apple”, then proceeds to access my old data BUT without the ability to delete that data! Despite the option being there (the buttons are non-responsive). I loved the simplicity of this app but some aspects are SIMPLISTIC. For instance, if someone starts using the app on June, it tracks how many drinks that person has had in THAT year. That is obviously ridiculous. If the user only started tracking later in the year then those stats are obviously incorrect! Compounded bu this failure to reset and start over this just makes this app all the more useless, and that is before I even get into the issue of NOT being able to access and delete my data!! Disappointed... I love ZERO, am a premium subscriber, but this one is subpar. Am now deleting it for good and looking for another option. Pity though it could have been great..

Nice app, possible to log drinks of last year?. Very nice app, I like its design and simplicity. I logged my drinks for over a year in another app and would like to switch to Less. I can't seem to find a way to log my drinks of last year in Less, only for the last couple of weeks.

Helpful app but.... I had recently started tracking my drinking in habit apps and realized I was drinking more than I thought. None of the apps I had tried were really well suited for this kind of thing though (they’re more for things like exercising more) so I’m glad I found this app. The only thing that frustrates me about it is that I can’t input the data I had tracked for the last couple of months. There’s a calendar view, but you can’t edit from it which seems like an oversight. In the last update they also changed the week to start on Sunday which I’m not a fan of, I wish they had made it a setting instead. Other than that though the app is great. It’s definitely been enlightening for me to see how much I was really drinking and caused me to cut back. I’m sure it will help a lot of other people too.

not everyone is trying to count calories. i was really excited to find Less because it’s unique in that it will let you keep track of sober days without being a full-out sobriety app. it is also extremely cute! however (and i’m actually pretty bummed by this) because of the feature that forces you to see how many calories you are consuming, i am not going to be able to use it. i am trying to recover from an eating disorder and the calorie thing is a deal breaker. there is no way to turn it off or hide it— you’re forced to constantly think about the calories you’re consuming which, for someone in recovery, is absolutely counterintuitive. i would also guess that i am not the only person in recovery from an ED who is trying to use this app— a lot of us have more than 1 harmful coping mechanism. ultimately, i think the option to hide, turn off, or not include the calorie count would be a really useful addition.

Revealed how much I was really drinking. I meet the definition of “moderate alcohol consumption”, rarely more than two drinks a day and definitely not every day. So I figured I was doing pretty well, but this app charted how quickly those drinks add up. Also, it revealed how I can easily slide from max 2 drinks, to occasionally 3 and sometimes more. While this likely wouldn’t be considered a drinking problem by anyone, it was affecting my energy levels, mood, and mental clarity. The app itself is simple and clean. It does one job: shows you your drinking habits over time. Definitely worth using.

My Favorite Tracker. I’ve tried just about every drink tracker on the App Store and this one is my favorite. It’s easy to use, straightforward and lets you consider your alcohol consumption from several different angles all at once. It’s definitely helping me make better choices - and it’s free! I would pay for it!

Overall useful and beautiful!. Overall useful and beautiful app! I enjoy using it to track my drinks and look at patterns over time. I do wish that the settings were more customizable. For example, allowing the daily limit to be set separately from the weekly limit. Hope to see the app continue to improve!

Works great for tracking # of drinks. Lacks some of the tracking sophistication of pay apps but works well for tracking the number of drinks you have per day. If you are wanting to track the quantity you are consuming over a period of time this app works well.

No way to set daily limit. As others have said, it would be very helpful to be able to manually set a daily limit. I have a rather low weekly limit, but still want to be able to have more than one drink in a single day, as long as it won’t put me over my weekly limit. This seems to me like a very basic feature, so it’s strange that it’s missing.

Wonderful. A beautiful, premium-feeling app for free. It has such a simple and elegant UI. My only suggestion would be to add a feature for converting quantity/ ABV of drinks to standard drinks (for example, a 12oz beer of 6.8% ABV translates to 1.4 standard drinks). It would help provide a more accurate picture of overall drinking habits.

Great app for my use. I’ve been using this app since the start of 2020 and it’s really been helping me keep myself drinking less! It is an easy way to remind myself to get those “drink-free day streaks” and when I do drink, I find the app makes me aware of how much I am drinking so I consume in moderation! The stats page is helpful to review from time to time, although the calendar function is a little slow. I like that I can look historically back on my years and also have the option to export my data should I choose. I really look forward to seeing my progress over time! It’s a great app for me and I appreciate how all of this is free, in a world that charges for nearly everything nowadays! It would be neat to be able to select a time frame (years, or custom dates) to view the total numbers (drinks and average $ spent on drinks) on the stats main dashboard, but as this is free, it’s simply a wish if there are future updates.

A Little Bit Of a Nag. I got this primarily to track my alcohol usage. I have not ever been a problem drinker. Some of my bottles of liquor have been sipped a drink or two a year. Wine at dinner is regular two or three times a week. This little app tends to be on the don't drink side of the equation. It congratulates for going a certain number of days using alcoholic control language. Does what it is supposed to do. But maybe not what I want.

Download it. I love this app, it’s really helped me to track my drinking and slow down. My main suggestion is that you should be able to change when the day changes mainly because I don’t track my days based on 12am -12am I usually start drinking in the late evening and go until 2-4 am which makes it kind of awkward logging my drinks for the previous day before I go to sleep. Otherwise it’s a great app that I’d highly recommend to anyone trying to show down control or track their habit. :)

Great for Those Who Don’t Want to Quit. Let’s be honest. 2020 (and now 2021) have been rough on our livers. Now that we’re coming out the other side- it’s time to get healthy again. Less is great because it’s designed for those who say “Hey, I want to cut back but let’s be honest- I ain’t quitting entirely.” It helps you practice conscious drinking. Just being aware of your consumption leads to less consumption. All in all, a great app! I’ve cut down my drinking about 60% to a level I’m much more comfortable with and I’m sure my doctor will be too. Give it a whirl!

Almost There. I really like the app, it was easy to set up. But there seems to be no way to change my daily limit. It says I go over the daily limit on different days, when I have a 6 drink a week limit and don’t drink all week until Friday or Saturday and have even 2-3 it tells me I went over my limit for that week. Even if I stayed at or under my weekly limit. I don’t want it set to have one drink a day for 6 days. Please let it change daily limits, doesn’t feel “guilt free” and “no judgement” tracking and having it tell me I go over, and it’s red. I’m trying to use this to be more mindful of overall consumption and give my body a break on more days of the week. Not to feel like I’m failing when I have 3 drinks on Friday and saved them up from the week.

The math is frequently off… so Force close to refresh. Great app, but when the app comes back from being in the background (say a day or two later) it often needs to refresh what day it is and the current daily tally. Pretty obvious when it’s my first drink of the day and there’s already two there. Possibly compounding this issue is using Siri to say “add a drink”. This is an awesome use of Siri, but I think it too it isn’t always targeting the right day. As an Apple Dev myself, I know this is difficult to test in a live environment because the Xcode Simulator isn’t going to leave something running in the background for days at a time. But devs, there is definitely something going on. And no, it’s not a case of forgetting that post midnight drinks count toward the next day. Gets 5 stars anyway, because I’m sure this will get resolved eventually and at that point, it’s perfect

Best & Only Real Option of its Kind. I’ve tried several different apps. Habit trackers, creating custom templates in journaling apps etc. Nothing is specifically heard towards curbing your alcohol, until I found this app. It’s great! I look forward to future updates— the recent addition of the calendar view makes me think they have a good idea of what should be improved.

Good, but…. This is a good little app, but would be great with a few additions: (1) it should have daily goals on drinking nights - this is as important as weekly goals; (2) multiple reminders on drinking night - when you add a drink so it knows you’re drinking that night, occasional reminders you can setup to tell you to slow down or drink water would be great.

Beautiful app. Been searching for a nice tracker to better be in charge of my drinking for a while and this is by far the nicest app. No unnecessary frills and the graphics are really cute and encouraging. I just wish the developing team could spend some resources on updating it. The app doesn’t always seem to synch well with the amount of drinks entered. And maybe add a few more fun features like severe weather, ship breaking, Leslie getting sea sick, etc to really show the severity. Plus aloe for better comparison on the weekly stats. Id love to keep using it and am recommending to all my friends.

Love the simplicity but some bugs. I love the simplicity of this app - it doesn’t over complicate things. One bug I notice though is sometimes when I launch it it’s stuck on the previous day so have to kill the app. Also if more than 100 drinks in a month (oops) the text gets truncated on some of the graphs.

Not much more than a counter app. All you do is click whether you’ve had a drink or not. And it keeps track of it. That’s it. It doesn’t calculate blood alcohol level, it doesn’t sync with Apple health and the articles in the Tips section go to NY Times articles that are behind paywalls… It offers no reward system for keeping a streak, it only tells you the bad things like how much you’ve spent and how many calories you’ve consumed. For a company whose 3 apps are centred around positive change, this one is a very negative experience.

Sensational. The best app on the market to cut down or stop drinking. What a fantastic design. These developers also do and amazing fasting App called Zero. Would love to see them also do an app for sleep! Thank you!!!! - A yearly calendar view would also be amazing to see long term progress !!!!

Useful. Early days with it but making me mindful of what I’m drinking. Set a limit of 10 drinks per week. Keen to see how fast I can get that boat going, like to see Leslie skiing behind it 🤣

Great app, simple effective, nice to look at. But.. only issue and reason for 4 stars, not 5 is that no Apple Health sync so it doesn’t talk to the rest of my health data… For me that seems like such a fundamental feature in any iOS health app. but I’m hoping that will come in an update and will keep trying this out… If you don’t need / want that feature then this is a top app and really nicely done!!

Less works. Great App. Makes tracking easy and limits easy to follow

Sign In with Apple ID - privacy. The only way to use the app is with an Apple ID, I have my privacy concerns with the app having access to my Apple profile. I haven’t really tried the app so I’m not rating the app’s functionality and usefulness.

Fantastic app. This is perfect, exactly what I wanted. A simple easy to use app, to track all alcohol intake. It has useful data on my past intake and some education around alcohol use. This, oak and zero are great apps, thank you so much.

Finally. An app to help moderate and track drinking that doesn’t resort to abstinence or long/short non-drinking challenges. The design is great and encourages me to ‘check myself’ and be better informed so I can change my habits.

Good app with a key suggestion. Simple app that does its purpose. I would make two important suggestion: - The app might induce people to drink more in one go, since the limit of 6 drinks is weekly, it would be useful to have a daily limit as well. Instead of “You haven’t had a drink today!” it could be something more positive and motivational: “Good job, a day without alcohol and towards your goals” or anything that it’s less emotional conflicting.

Help please 😊. I love transparency & honesty...so am concerned that this impressive app, is one I’d love to use...BUT can’t find where it openly displays its cost. 😟😳😀🦋 How much is it to download please? Thank you.

Should be 5 stars. This app should be a 5 star review but it doesn't sync with Apple Health. It's a pretty major oversight and limits it's usefulness. Seems like this app is not getting any love from its creators anymore which is a shame.

Hoping this works. I have had this app loaded for a short time and it seems to have issues and glitches while providing the most basic of functions. I’m fluent with about 6 alcohol goal setting apps over the last 10 years and they all seem to be lacking in features and functionality. This one is bare bones minimum and it doesn’t seem to work right….? I have an older phone (6s plus) but it has the latest version of the software IOS on it. For example; 1) glitches and seizes up 2) no decimal point on drinks is one pint is 2.2/2.3 of the beer I drink. 3) entered some drinks yesterday after I had the app downloaded. In the morning they were no there, gone, had to do it again. 4) on a positive the fellow in the boat is a great feature👍🙏. 5) no entering in prices per transaction……? Have to roll with an average…..? What if your buying through the take aways as opposed to bar or happy hour at the bar……? All the prices will be different…..? Also; one week after using it.. why doesn’t the tally calculate accurately for the week….? When u switch from WEEK STARTS Sun/Monday you can see this feature is not accurate…….? Used this now for two weeks and seems to be a good little app. Doesn’t include all it would be needed, but basic easy to use and quick. Nicely done and useful app.

I want to simply start again. ie make today day one. Not whichever day it was I signed up.. I want to simply start again. ie make today day one. Not whichever day it was I signed up.

Started having issues. I like this app and have used it for a while, unfortunately just recently any data I enter is not saved.

Could be great but too buggy. Unfortunately this app is weirdly buggy, and tapping on options frequently does nothing. Sometimes a quit/restart helps, but not always. Such a shame!

Helped me cut my drinking down by 90%. I hardly ever review apps, but I had to review this one. It’s super no - intrusive unlike a lot of other apps. It’s doesn’t want me to sign up, or join a group, or analyse my behaviour. It just lets my track my drinks, and very occasionally sends me a push notification to ask if I’m drinking and forgot to log it. Brilliantly done. I’d pay $10 for this.

Good app but some issues. Good app to keep track on your sober challenges. Only issue is that there is no health app intergration and the longest daily streak is stuck at 99. Can’t seem to register 100 days+ for the longest streak, even though the actual streak is higher.

Great app and a few bugs. Over all this is my favourite app in this space. If the app has been open in the background for a few days and you open it again, the dates are all messed up, work around is to kill the app and relaunch. If you have been using the app for over a year, there is no way to see the data from over one year ago, in the Drinking Trends area. A welcome addition would be to swipe left and right on this area to go back further.

Simple, yet effective.. This is a wonderfully simple, but useful app to help me become more accountable for my drinking. There’s some good advice to help steer you in the right direction and it easy to log drinks and keep track of how much alcohol you’ve consumed over an extended period of time. The animations are a nice touch too! Thank you!

Why does app require my apple ID name, email etc?. App required verified full name and email associated with apple ID to track my alcohol consumption? Very dodgy. This is personal data, how will it be used? And bad user experience to ask for that after configuration questions. Wastes all our time. Deleted app immediately.

Great app. Loving it and helps to track drink free days which is great - however it would be awesome to also be able to not only log your drinks ( beer/ wine / scotch etc ) and then the app not only calculates the calories and the $$ but also the BAC and then syncs with the HealthKit ? Cheers

Dates don’t line up correctly. Easy to use to track your drinks however when you click on the monthly tab it shows each week and the dates are off by 1 full week. Hopefully the developers fix this.

Simple but effective. This very straightforward app helps encourage fewer drinks per week, without a lot of input or fuss .

tries to be fancy. but you can’t even get a count anywhere of the number of drinks you had in a month. Even on the screen that says month.

No widget, should have daily limit and notification. The widget mentioned to be able to track drinks is non-existent (at least on iPhone 11, iOS 16) A missing feature that should really be in the app is the daily limit with a notification to let you know you got past the set limit Nice to have: Drinks per hour limit plus notification when you get past the limit 😋 Liking the app so far but does not feel super useful without those limits/notifications

amazing. beautiful design, so clean and smart.

Simple to use. Helps keep on track w/o pressure.

Nice habit tracking app. UI/UX are clean and simple. Since there’s no Contact Us form in the support Zendesk, I’ll post feedback here. Under the ‘Drinking Trends’ tab, the labels for time periods are off. ‘Weekly’ shows days, ‘Monthly’ shows weeks, and ‘Yearly’ shows months. Separately, the Tally page says “You are drink-free for 16 days” but the ‘Streaks’ stat says I’m “Current Streak: 5 days without a drink”. Also, wish there was a way to add data going back further than June 1st 2020. Otherwise, nicely done!

Can’t use!. App crashes instantly after account creation.

You had one job. Every time I’ve tried to use this, drinks get attributed to the wrong day, or not counted at all, by the time I come back to the app next time.

Handy app but missing a few features. Easy and simple to use. Would be nice if it integrated with apple health (not sure if this is an apple limitation). Also would be nice to have a widget and an Apple Watch app for quicker more convenient logging.

Easy to use. Simple, fast and visually appealing. Better than other apps I’ve tried for this purpose.

Buggy. I tried it for 3 weeks and it went buggy. Would not save drinks on Sunday June 4,2023. It just disappeared on close. Uninstall made no difference. Reinstalled and same error occurred on June 4th.

Nice simple app. Nice simple app. Clean and does what it says on the tin. Needs offline support however. Like the support for AppleID and data export.

Beautiful app. "Five years ago, I used Less to successfully quit drinking, and it changed my life. However, I never managed to kick the smoking habit. I wish Less could expand its scope to cover smoking as well, as its approach to tracking and reducing habits is unparalleled. Still, an amazing app that has helped me make a positive change!"

More community. Love the simple app and features. Would love to be able to add friends to keep each other accountable and compete for better behaviour. But mostly I want to make fun of them when they fall off the wagon. :-)

Simple but effective. If you’re honest with your tracking, it shows how well you’re doing.

Simple to use. Unsure how the animation of the ship helps…but just started to use the app and I like its simplicity

Doesn’t know the date, can’t add, stuck on... Stuck on ‘drink free’. Other than showing my mother, pretty useless.

Useless - Doesn’t work with apple health app.. The only reason I downloaded this app was to easily add data to my Heath app on my iPhone, literally the one thing this app was supposed to do, it doesn’t work for it’s intended purpose and is therefore useless. Hopefully you fix the app so it can do the one thing it’s necessary for, until then it gets one star from me.

Great app. Thank you!. Nice UX. Simple and effective. Nice job.

Apple sign in??. One star for Apple signing Not gonna sing with apple id

Only Apple ID Sign-In. Please allow users to create an account via email address. I found this app and was looking forward to trying it but am forced to use Apple ID so I cannot use it.

Useful and nice. Not too stressful, friendly and motivating. I like it.

This one’s a winner!. I’ve really enjoyed using Less so far. It’s quick get in and out when adding a drink, and the stats help me know how much I’m actually consuming over time. I’d love a home screen widget and the ability to change the size/strength of of drink.

Great app!. Recommend to all who want to start drinking more mindfully.

Love it!. Simple to use, and perfect timing for my new year resolution. I love the graphics. Super beautiful. No trouble with account creation or navigating the dashboard.

Being mindful.... I have found using this app extremely helpful in my being cognizant of my alcohol consumption. I find myself reaching for non-alcoholic choices more since I started tracking. I feel better and have lost a few pounds which is an added bonus!

This is an awesome app. Provides interesting historical data and it’s fun to use

Simple, Functional, Beautiful. We’ll designed app, no ads, really great if you’re curious how many drinks you actually have a week.

Needs some changes. This is a great app overall but it’s very frustrating it does not refresh unless you close the app.

Helpful. I find this app to be extremely helpful in self-monitoring my alcohol consumption. It’s simple to use and getting your data is convenient. Thai app has everything I need.

Love The Concept… Could Do More. Phenomenal app that is on the right track! Great features that should/ can be expanded on! Being able to track my alcohol intake is super important to me and this app has helped along the way… A few suggestions: not all drinks are priced/ portioned equally and the options should reflect that more closely… milestones matter and more support for achievements would be great… community for alcoholics is crucial so a social tab to connect with others along the journey would be great! Over all a 7/10 app could be great but for right now good is enough.

Works great for tracking # of drinks. Lacks some of the tracking sophistication of pay apps but works well for tracking the number of drinks you have per day. If you are wanting to track the quantity you are consuming over a period of time this app works well.

Needs Daily Limit Option. For an app that’s supposed to be judgement free, it sure does insist on me having 2 drinks a day max. I know it’s not healthy to drink that much in one night. Maybe remind me once but then leave me alone and let me live my life. Looks great and I’ll probably keep using it, but I need better than this and I hope they fix this oversight.

Love the concept. Amazing concept and easy, no judgement way to track your consumption. Would recommend and am highly pleased!

Easy-to-use, fun interface but lacks precise alcohol input. I love the interface, it is really nice and simple BUT I would like to be able to input UNITS of alcohol, not just a “drink”. So, unfortunately, I will not be using this app. It is a shame though, I love the simple interface.

Crashes [Edit: Fixed, works great!]. App works great now, excited to track my progress for the month! ~Love the idea but app crashes every time on launch after on-boarding :/ makes it unusable on my iPhone 11 pro, iOS 13.3. Happy to update this review once fixed!~

Lovely app, easy and helpful. Great app that makes it easy to track your drinking, set a goal and help you meet it. Just counting drinks has helped me see my patterns, cut back and develop fun/healthier alternatives to having another glass of wine.

Great tracker. The only thing I’d like to see is being able to look at a yearly calendar and make adjustments manually. For instance, I downloaded the app in March and would like to enter the drinks I had in Jan and Feb. I’m allowing myself 65 drinks per year so I have to keep remembering to add the 5 drinks I had between those 2 months.

Easy to use and track. Easiest tracker I’ve used with just a simple tally of drinks per day. Only thing I would change is showing year over year data. I can’t see if my drinking last April is more or less than this April bc the yearly stats only show May thru April. Sort of frustrating.

Simple clean UI, no Apple Health support.. I love Zero and use it a lot. The UI design for this app is similarly clean and fun to use. Unfortunately, it does not seem to support writing alcohol consumption or calories to Apple Health so it’s not very useful in combination with other diet and health tracking apps.

Cute app. Would be nice if you could put the prices of drinks you’ve purchased so you could see how much you’ve spent, as a deterrent to spend more. Overall lovely app, the calendar view is great (add S M T W TH F S plz!), great start, hoping it really gains traction and adds on more features

Great, simple tracking app. This app does it right, respects your data and privacy with export and delete options, and makes you feel good assuming you stick to your goals.

Please add a half option!. Like it so far but wish I could put when I’ve only had half a beer

Great App but outdated. It has a very user friendly UI and experience. However, lately whenever I want to update values from a previous day, the date might not show up in the list of past day. I have to close and reopen the app. Also it would be great if it could connect with Apple Health.

Effective and Elegant. My ship has set sail. The app looks beautiful, but honestly the best part of it is in its simplicity and UI, so that I actually use it. I’d say it’s just what I needed to help me be more conscious of my intake and start off the new year on the right foot.

Great tool.. I’m finding this very helpful. I’d like to see times recorded as well. Having a place notes would be nice too.

Using for 3 weeks. This app is great. I set my limit at 1 drink a day and have averaged 2/week. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because there is no place for users to share their experiences or suggestions with others.

Great app. Helps a lot of people but 1 thing is missing.. This needs an Apple Watch app. Nobody wants to be at a bar using their phone to track how many shots they had. They want to quickly go to a complication on their watch and add data and get back to the fun!

Needs improvement, but does the job (used 1.5 years). Could be technically better, but I do like it a lot for its basic function of keeping track in an easy manner.

Please add ability to mark true sobriety date (not the day the app was downloaded). Honestly, this app is perfect except for the fact that I can’t enter my true sobriety date (six days before downloading Less). I’d love to see an update that allows you to enter data from days previous to the date you downloaded the app.

great app, just glitchy. this app is very helpful. i love that it makes me keep up with frequency and quantity of my drinking (and can be a real eye-opener for some days). my only issue is that sometimes reporting drinks isn't accurate. like, sometimes i have to close down the app and restart it to be on the correct day, and i currently have a big issue with the app not being able to retain the data i put in for this past tuesday. i've restarted, logged out, and still zeroes it out after i exit it out. otherwise, a very useful (and sobering, haha) way to evaluate my alcohol consumption. cheers to responsible drinking and healthy habits!🍻

Super easy to use. I drank a lot. I’ve tried to just be mindful in the past but this app helped show me what I was doing. I didn’t think it would help but it did.

Sober Starter. This app is friendly and encouraging and serves as necessary accountability… i do wish it showed the current day earlier for my time zone or became the current day at midnight in my area! 🤗

Good but glitchy. It’s a great, simple app. My only complaints are (1) no ability to track 1/2 drinks and (2) it’s glitchy. It frequently misses days on the calendar so I have to track manually for a couple days until it resolves and I can go in and enter my tallies.

Doesn’t refresh count. For a simple app it is surprisingly buggy. If I bring it up today, it’s stuck on Sunday, I am writing this on Tuesday. This requires killing the app and restarting it. Basic functionality like refreshing the view and showing the current count seems to be basic programming skills for anyone over say 12.

Nice app, possible to log drinks of last year?. Very nice app, I like its design and simplicity. I logged my drinks for over a year in another app and would like to switch to Less. I can't seem to find a way to log my drinks of last year in Less, only for the last couple of weeks.

Retroactive Tracking. I love the concept of this app but wish there was a way to retroactively track my drinks. For example, I have successfully completed Dry January, but I’m unable to go back to the first few days of the month to track my drinks because I can only go back 2 weeks. This means my dry streak isn’t accurate in the app.

Good app, but wanted it to be interoperable. Downloaded the app and was impressed with its simple and snazzy UI. However, the primary reason for me downloading it was in hopes that it would ‘push’ the data inputted to Apple’s Health app. This data is valuable, but siloed, I’m not sure how valuable it is for me. Would give 5/5 if it pushed its’ own data to the ‘Alcohol Consumption’ portion of the Health app.

Less. I like the app because it allows me to track my drink intake. You can customize your notifications so it doesn’t bother you too much.

Simply to use and free for now. Really well designed app, User interface is very straight forward and easy to use, and it’s free for now. Hopefully it doesn’t become a monthly subscription thing.

Excellent app. I recently realized that I’d become a bit unmindful of how much I was drinking of an evening, with the result that I was drinking a bit more, and more often, than I’d like for health reasons. This app is slick and easy to use, and has helpful reminders to track your drinks, or celebrate a non-drinking day. Recommended.

Health app integration. Hi Team, thank you for the app. It is very helpful to meet goals. Can you build in a way to add your app’s data points to the iOS Health app? It would be nice not to have to enter the data twice. Thank you, ER

Love it but. This app is easy and fantastic. My only request is that there would be a connection to Apple health. I’d love to be able to correlate this With my other stats. Same goes for Zero. Would be really powerful to have all of this in one place

Great Concept, Needs Some Work. Love the idea behind this app, but there are some really basic things that are broken. For example, when I select “past days” there are days missing from the list. I tried to add a drink to Thursday 7/13, but it’s not there. The list goes from Friday 7/14 right to Wednesday 7/12. Where is Thursday?!

After almost a year of tracking data is gone!!!. Suddenly after almost a year of tracking my "drink-free days" count is reset at zero!! The calendar shows past months of data even tho I haven't had a drink in 11 months. App support is nonexistent they have not replied to any of my support tickets and still no update fixing the problem. What's the point of this app if it loses your data?

Good app. Needs more. Great app. Easy to use but there needs to be an option to go back and edit beyond 2-3 weeks. How can your yearly stats be correct if you cannot go back and add them?

Good idea, annoying to use. It can barely do its primary function, which is tracking drinks. Often have to force close the app because it doesn’t even know what day it is and thinks I’m a few days in the past. It also doesn’t sync with Apple health.

Zero drinks vs no tracking. Is it possible change the app to differentiate between a zero drink day and a day when no tracking is recorded? I like the app, but will probably stop using it without this change, because I don’t like that when I forget to log a day or more, the app automatically gives me credit for a zero drink day. Thanks!

Feature request!. Love the simplicity and the lovely UI. I’d love to be able to flip through previous months on the drinking trends screen, viewing monthly and weekly averages over time, it currently only shows the current month.

Helpful. I like the concept and it’s a well made app but I wish it integrated with the Apple Health app which has a section for alcohol consumption. In addition, the Apple Watch notifications are great for reminders, but lacking the ability to add a drink from that notification is a big loss.

Supportive. This app\tool is a simple and effective method to hold yourself accountable for your alcohol consumption. Currently a free app. Hopefully will remain that way to give needed support for all who seek a better understanding of their personal relationship with alcohol.

Thanks. Thanks for making a simpler app for tracking drinking. Finally something I can use and not trying to force joining groups or interupting all the time. Perfect if you want to just be more mindful of when you drink.

Great core concept, but buggy and not updated. I have to restart the app each time I want to see previous days or log a zero for today. It’s a cute UI and it’s motivating, but clearly there are outstanding bugs in this and no updates for more than a year. I may still continue to use, despite its quirks.
