Amazing. You don’t have to pay to get cinematic mode it may seem like it but you don’t and they say in the app you don’t have to pay for the features that you will probably use the not thing I hope for in a future update please add a future in how to make the background more blurry on cinematic mode please and make this feature free or you will kinda get a bad reputation like the other apps

Needs slowmo. The only thing holding this app back from five stars is slowmo. For that buttery B Roll combined with what this app is capable of doing would be a game changer. The line is blurry and only getting more so moving forward. It’s never been a better time to be a mobile videographer. But give us slowmo, please. Nail that and boom! Check both apps out, you won’t be disappointed.

Really good app. The app is really good it has great features such as ( filters, clips that come with app, audio editing, and more ) they have lots of stuff. My only pet peeve is that not all features are free. If you want to have access to all features you have to pay a premium subscription for them.

Only work with front camera.... I love this app after tried it but wish if the developer could have made both front and rear camera work for the focus blur background. Currently only the front camera work for the portrait mode which isn’t useful when you want to use this feature to record someone in front of you.

I bought the pro version within 5 minutes. THIS is the video editing app I’ve been waiting for! I’ve loved Focos for my still photos, so I had a hunch that Focos Live would be good. Within just a few minutes of playing around, I could see that this was the phone/tablet video editing app I had been searching for. The interface is pretty intuitive and the feature set has just about everything I need (the only thing I can’t figure out is how to fade to black). Developers like this need to be supported, so I immediately pulled out my wallet for this one!

Way too many bugs.. I’ve used this app for a while and the more I use it, the worse it seems to get. Sometimes you cannot use chromakey without soft locks, frame rate stutters, and the more layers you have in the timeline (which every good video editor utilizes), the more bugs will appear. I've edited my current project for about 10 hours and now I get a “cannot complete action “ error in the middle of the export. It just isn’t worth the hassle. Stick to PC editing if you want it done right, although I give this 2 stars for the amount of features it has.

Latest release broke bokeh in video. In earlier versions the app was doing a pretty good job to add bokeh in video. In latest version you see a boundary around the person that is not blurred even though the person is at least 8 ft away from the background. This is while using iPhone 12 pro with LIDAR and using the correct back camera. With LIDAR depth info, it should be obvious which pixels are in front and what is in background. I know the review sounds critical but it was improving so well and latest version made it unusable for bokeh in video. Please fix the issue (at least for stationary subjects in foreground ). Vasant

About the background blur video. Very well the blur of the video but one mistake is that the video is used and playing slow sometime Lip sing is anywhere else in the video movement anywhere elseI mean lip sing is getting late and video is playing but very excellent blur blur gotten thank you

Scammers. This app costs $2 a WEEK. No other package. That’s over $100 a year for some basic video editing plus missing a ton of features that would actually be worth the price and having to go back and forth between other apps for those features. I really only used the app for the stabilizing effect but even that gave poor results and just made the clips glitchy so I canceled. I canceled my subscription last week and was charged again three days before my subscriptions expiration date. This app is a waste of time and money.

$15 to achieve bokeh (blurry background effect). Bought the app just for the “bokeh” effect (the blurry background effect), super legit, not dslr quality but I prefer filming with my phone for the convenience factor and I’m a beginner with shooting video so this does a fantastic job achieving that effect without needing the bulky camera or an expensive lens if you already have a newer iPhone. I have 2 feature requests I really wish they would add however: 1) being able to use the size/autofocus bokeh feature from a video you recorded with native camera app instead of having to record from the Focos app, you can manually edit it with imported video, but it just works so much better and smoother if shot initially in app and I really wish that feature would carry that over to imported videos 2) and this is by farrrr my biggest feature request, please please please add bokeh effect to the wide angle lens, not manually editing the blur, but with the size/autofocus like with the other 2 lenses. That would make this app absolutely amazing. Overall this app is absolutely fire if you’re looking to achieve a more professional looking video in combination with the ease of using your phone

Powerful Video Editing Solution. I just edited a short video where I started with a 4K clip, applied a series of markers, zoomed, and reposition the video's primary subject. The result looks like a perfect zoom+track clip. I would not have thought it possible to get such good results from an app on my iPhone. I'd still like to see improvements in text and "titles" but that is small compared to the power features it already has. Reply to developer's "have you tried subtitles?" - the subtitles feature provides plenty of control over the text but when looking to add "titles" and other text to video, it would be convenient to have in/out effects to choose.

Best Mobile App for Mobile, Minimalist Creators. I loved the focos photo app which led me to try focos live. Blown away! I always worried about backdrops, etc, They had to be perfect because they were in focus. Not anymore. Even a moderately passable background becomes complimentary. It creates so much depth. And with the background slightly out of focus, it draws more attention to you and your message. Easy to learn. Hyper functional. Perfect for bloggers at all levels. And a steal! ¡Gracias!

Aperture feature does not work. Every single time I tried to do exactly as the app instructed, taking video using portrait mode, I always got an error message saying that the aperture feature (which is really the whole point of this app) only works in portrait mode (which, again, I tried multiple times). More frustratingly, aperture as an option would completely disappear from the menu until I literally removed the app, reinstalled it, and started over, only to encounter the same problems. Considering the $15 dollars I just paid for this, it is a downright outrage. I want my money back. The unfortunate thing is that this app, in theory, seems like it would have some really useful features, but I no longer trust that this app will ever work. And I have extraordinary little faith in the company that created it.

Amazing Bokeh effect. Totally love it’s video editing skills. I totally love love love it’s Bokeh effect and it’s editing ability; fast forward,slomo,video/picture in video effect .... My only issue (that I can think of right now) is the fact that after cutting some bits in a video during editing, if there were any texts, they would become disorganized so I would have to start rearranging them again after cutting. Imagine having to rearrange texts & pictures & mini videos every single time you make a little “cut”(/change) for a 30minutes long video

My Favorite Video Editor. Luma is private and professionally powerful - but complicated. Splice is okay for simple stuff, but much less private. Focos Live is the best of everything. Private, extremely powerful, beautifully intuitive - and does things easily that I can’t touch with other editors. I can do layer-based editing, complete with masking, blend modes, and keyframed control of things like blur and opacity. Like Pixelmator or SuperimposeX for video. Scoring straight from GarageBand is cake. And that’s all BEFORE you start shooting portrait-mode video and start playing with the aperture and focus control stuff. This is a beautiful app. I’m using it on a Gen 7 iPad, a 7 Plus, and an XS Max, and it’s great on them all - but I can hardly wait to run this on an iPhone 13. At the one-time lifetime purchase price, this app may be the App Store’s best value ever. Astonishingly good.

Audio not being recorded. The app’s bokeh effect and editor are really amazing but I keep coming across videos being recorded with no sound. I would record a video with sound and right after I try to record another video without changing any of the settings and the video ends up with no audio. I am using a iPhone 11 and paid for the PRO version. Why is this happening? Besides that it is truly a gem for anybody interested in creating awesome looking videos.

Amazing.. Not only is portrait video beautiful, but of all the video editing apps that exist, this is the ONLY one that can do everything I need to do to a clip. So happy I found this I’ve been telling everyone I know. The audio can be a bit buggy sometimes…and a desktop/web version would be great!

Definitely one of the beat. Use this app quite a bit in my work flow especially for quick and decently powered editing. Pros: feature packed, lots of free goodies, great workflow. Cons: Some functionality needs a little work like in the timeline when moving clips from one layer to another and how previous layers clips response or snap.

Must pay.. This app is not free. There is no way to use or even try its features without signing up with a credit card for a week trial. It’s really frustrating to not even have access to any features before paying, I don’t like paying for apps and then being disappointed in the features so it seems more fair to allow one or so features (maybe allow people to take new video but not edit uploaded ones without paying) as opposed to hiding everything behind a paywall. If I click anything in the app it takes me to the paywall. Just charge folks a flat fee for using the app if there’s no way to use it without paying.

Great Editor for the Price. I’ve been happily using the paid version for over a year now and it helped me step up my production value of videos significantly. I’ll probably be looking to step up to a professional editor on my computer soon, but the capabilities packed onto my iPhone is hard to beat!

Simply Incredible! No Slow Motion Though. The developers really invested into what’s important when it comes to photography and that’s creating depth and perspective. Can’t praise it enough for the magic this and their other focus app for pictures creates. Only frustration is, in contrast to their photography app “Focus”, you have to take the videos in app or else you won’t be able to add depth in post. Unless I missed something, I can’t find a slow motion capture option in-app which means I can’t add depth to any of my slow motion videos taken from my default camera at all because the videos require being shot in-app and there is no slow motion option within the application. Please correct me if I’m wrong and I’d love to to see that feature added if not!!! In conclusion, a must have!

Phenomenal developer, unique creative tool. I put money into this app shortly after it was released on the strength of the history of the Focos app. One of the Focos Live shortcomings, for instance, I was most disappointed over is, according to the change log, fixed in the recent update. I’m going to try it out as soon as finish this review! So my review is this: If you like the power of the Focos app, reward the developer by investing in the Focus Live app in faith that whatever shortcomings you might find will be addressed eventually if they can be addressed at all. And just as importantly, in the meantime, have fun! The Pro tools already support creativity beyond the core Focos “bokeh” capability. The included audio tracks are most welcome in an app of this sort. The video editing tools are robust even if things like basic transitions are (currently) manually done (if I’m not missing something). Enjoy the creative possibilities and never leave the app! TL;DR. Just buy it. 🙂 EDIT: Completely my fault for missing the transitions feature. Thank you for correcting me! I got sloppy in my testing and in my verbiage; one of the things I was thinking about when I wrote my review was video fades in and out, say for a single short clip to be uploaded to Instagram (of course I could still be missing something!). But I still messed up my review and I appreciate the correction.

I’ll never need iMovie again!. I can’t believe all the features! I initially got this to try the presets but then I found all the other features. This is an amazing app for the cost. It’s like I have a DSLR camera and editing software all in one. I’ll never go back to using anything else again. This app has saved my sanity and my pocket! I hope there is a version for Mac desktop soon!

Best Video Editing App. I have used so many different video editing apps and this one is by far the best. The only complaint I have is that when I move clips around on the timeline, it shifts the positioning of the other clips that are further down the timeline. If the other clips would stay in place, it would make this a five star app. Other than that though, this app is so much better than all the others I’ve tried and is the closest thing to a desktop editing program that I’ve found yet.

Creative Liberation!. This app liberated me creatively. Using a touch screen to jump into edits is the way to go. Focos Live is packed with features and totally worth the cost. Would like to see a few more possibilities in adjusting audio such as EQ and if it were possible to lock tracks, clips and titles to keep them from sliding around, it would extend its potential for longer edits. However, for producing two minute videos for social media, it’s clearly my go-to app.

The most recent update broke the app. I had paid for the life-time version off the app so I can use on my travels, and the most recent version of the app needs the app to be connected to the internet. Guess I found that out when I was stuck on a long flight with a lot of pending video editing that I just couldn’t get to. Don’t get me wrong, this is one of the best video editing apps on the market, but the most recent build that had a huge warning about tracking, metrics and analytics only broke the app. Dear developer, please give us the option to use the app offline. I really wish that users who had paid full price didn’t have to stress about the app being connected every time it was used.

Not bad for the price. Presumably like most people, I bought this for the Bokeh effect. It turns out to be pretty good at the actual video editing too — far more intuitive than standard programs like iMovie. A little more detail in the instructions would be helpful. Sometimes, it’s hard to even know where some of the gif-style tips begin and end. Showing what is actually being clicked and being able to slow it down would shorten the learning curve dramatically.

Better than I’d hoped. I’m a veteran documentary filmmaker, and I’ve had this app since I bought my iPhone 12 Pro Max a year ago. But I didn’t use it much because I have several “serious” digital cinema cameras at my disposal… A month ago I was asked to shoot a short film for a friend’s website, so I decided to use the iPhone in 4K. The results using Focos Live are stunning… I’ve already pre-ordered an iPhone 13 Pro Max, but I only hope this app continues to be available as iOS upgrades continue. The 13 apparently doesn’t use Lidar, which is what makes Focos Live so amazing…

Paid for within minutes. It didn’t take long for me to decide to pay the $15 for the full features. I was testing it around with a random video clip I made earlier and I learned how to use the editing features quickly. For something I didn’t know how to use, they have tutorial videos set up in the Settings. This has all of the features you need to fully edit a video and as someone who rarely uses a computer, I’m happy to have this on my phone. I’m so happy with this app that I’m going to be editing everything I make and even make pointless videos just to be able to use Focos Live! It’s so fun to use! 5/5

Almost Great!. Such a bummer. This app is the most user-friendly of its kind and does exactly what you need. Makes your old iPhones camera a worthy opponent to the iPhone 13/14. The downside is that they’ve taken away the lifetime subscription and yearly subscription and now all that’s left is the weekly subscription… I don’t know about you, but I’d rather pay once, or once a year rather than weekly. I’ve switched to ProTake which essentially does the same thing.. If they ever add those options back I’ll gladly switch again for good. Almost there, Focos Live! Keep trying!

Thanks for pay-gating your entire app. After using and loving this simple camera app that adds a bit more cinematic feel over the factory iPhone camera, this company decided to make 100% of the app premium out of nowhere and now won’t even let you use the camera at all. Not a single piece of this is available without signing up for “pro”. Which makes no sense since there is no “lite” version anymore. Terrible and greedy decision. Uninstalled.

Best editing app. Working a lot on GoPro videos, but quick can’t give me all the control to the videos I needed. Focus Live is the one greatly reduces editing efforts and provides almost all the tools I need: very continent trim/split, speed control, fade-in/out, text. Focus live could be better once a few stability issues were resolved.

Best video editing APP I've ever used!!. It's the best video editing APP I've ever used!! I have never written any reviews for any App I am using. But for FocosLive, I want to share to let more people know about it. It’s Easy to use, no complicated operation, functionality is powerful, smooth speed for iphone 7 untill iphone 11pro max! The most importantly----no ads ever !!! If you've read this feedback, congratulations! You're lucky as I do to have found it among thousands of App.

One of a kind - good. I own literally hundreds and hundreds of apps so I’ve had experience that was a little costly, but very useful in checking what kinds of apps work well. This app is exceptional for its video editing and for combining different videos into your finished project. ItIs my number one tool for that kind of work. Support from the developer could be better, but most of the features are self evident.

Bokeh, fantastic editor, and great customer service!. I’m using this on both an iPhone and iPad 12.9 (with LIDAR). The bokeh effect is greatly improved with LIDAR and the editing suite it comes with is very impressive. The ability to add key frames, chroma key, stabilizer, etc is something that Adobe doesn’t even have on Premier Rush yet (and this is a one time payment). I had an issue with Bluetooth remote shutters not working with the iPad version (which I prefer to shoot in because of the LIDAR and extra processing power - which does make a difference). I emailed the developer, and within the week, they had a fix pushed out on the App Store - that is amazing customer service. In my ten+ years on the iOS ecosystem, I’ve reached out to many developers over the years, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a quick response. Thank you!! If I had any suggestions, it would be to add mouse/keyboard shortcuts. A mouse works with the app, but you cannot scrub through the timeline while editing, and there are no right-click functions. I use my iPad Pro as one of my main computers, so adding this functionality would take this already amazing app over the top. It’s not a big deal as the touch controls are good, but it would make it feel just that much more powerful. All in all - great app, highly recommend!

Nice bokeh video, but editing is absolute nightmare. Finally got the bokeh video to work, but trying to edit my video with additional clips was a nightmare. They kept getting reordered and the automatic ripple delete was a pain because it would move clips that I didn’t want moved. I’ve worked with other video editing apps and have never had this many problems. I’ve had to constantly rearrange clips that seem to jump around. I want to like this app and invest in a subscription, but the editing experience needs to be vastly improved.

Awesome Video Editing App for the iPhone/iPad. I found the app on a humble, randomly searching for an application that delivers stabilization capabilities. What I found is my new video editing staple. Like any other app, you wishfully think of things they could do easier (like when you are deleting items, being able to apply a hold on the other fields so nothing else adjusts), but I use the app everyday. 4 1/2 stars, until the fix the above complaint in an update, but I HIGHLY recommend you purchase!

Excellent Movie Maker. I have spent a good portion of a day review the tutorial in the app and learning how to use this tool. The tutorials are really a bit to short and can be hard to follow but eventually I got it and came to find this tool very versatile and easy to use once you learn your way around. A few elements were pretty hard to figure out. They key frame button was hard to find. And its still not totally clear when the Ramp button is activated. The most impressive feature is the ability to resize a video clip, combine multiple clips on screen at the same time and me able to move and modify the clip as it plays! It would be great if this feature was available to all the object types ex. Pictures, text, emogiis, etc.

Great App, but.... I love this app, but I need to be able to sync projects across devices. I take videos with my phone and I'd like to be able to sit down at home and edit my footage with my iPad but there seems to be no way to get that done. Maybe I’m missing something. I love the stabilisation feature. It removes the need for the added equipment haul of a gimbal in every situation. The overall learning curve of this app is very reasonable. I purchased the unlimited access because I believe in this app but I need to be able to sync projects over my WiFi to my other devices, so I’d appreciate if the developers could slip that into their project pipeline. Amazing and powerful video editing app for your phone. Excellent Video Editing App. I am a Final Cut Pro user... and have always been reluctant to use video editing apps on my phone... until I tried FOCUS... It totally changed the way used to see editing apps on my phone. Now, I shoot an edit right on my iPhone and the results are simply amazing. If you still haven’t tried it... do give it a try.

From a run and gun videographer. In progress, but...nothing else is close, stands out from the crowd. Get it. With the iPhone 11 and 12, you can approximate true film results. Bokeh is great. The only reason I cannot give this five stars is due to the lack of stabilization. This feature is available on a lot of other apps. Would love to see it implemented in this one as well. You can always go out and buy a stabilizer, but for a run and gun shooting straight off your iPhone, this would be an invaluable addition. Thumbs up to the creator!

I rarely buy pro versions of software that just came out. i’m a big fan of Focos for photos. just tried Focos Live and I’m pleased with the app. The mobile editing controls are intuitive and easy to use. I believe you have to shoot video with the portrait camera to be able to control the background sharpness. I’ll do that next time.

Great App 🌟🌟🌟🌟. Love this app it really makes quick video editing easier. I would love to give it 5 stars. Only complaint is that when your trying to find music to add to videos the search function is not accurate when your trying to type song or artist names. 😫 Otherwise it’s very convenient.

Portrait to cinematic??. I can’t get into the app because it keeps saying it’s “converting all portrait videos to cinematic mode” and I “can’t exit the app until it’s finished processing”. And I realize it’s transferring all my videos to my phone . I have an iPhone 11 so I’m not supposed to have cinematic mode. I’m not sure why it’s doing this and I haven’t done anything differently. It’s been like this for over a week and I’ve tried offloading and reinstalling the app and it’s still stuck like this. Please help.

“Minor” issue. I would like to start off by saying that this is a great app. I have been using it for a while now and bought the lifetime license not long after I started using it more regularly. Then came along the latest update. And in the release notes, you know, it looked like your regular semi-major update to an app, nothing out of the ordinary there. But then I tried copying a Cinematic video (The Focos Live version, not the Apple version) from my Mom’s phone to my iPad Pro. The first time I tried it, it worked; I opened the Focos Live app and the video I had copied over showed up as a Cinematic video. The second time I tried doing that, the video seemed to transfer just fine, but when I opened the Focos Live app, I was surprised to see that the video I had copied over had not registered as a Cinematic video. Instead, the Focos Live app thought it to be a regular video. And moving forward, this is the result I got every time. I was not, and still am not, able to copy a Cinematic video from one device to another and have the Focos Live app on the recipient device think it to be a Cinematic video. It always thinks it to be a normal video.

Suggestion. I really like this app, NO, I love this app. But I do have a suggestion that you guys are probably already working on. But if you guys can port more features from Focos that’d be super awesome. I know the performance would be an issue though. Like I want to be able to add transparent backgrounds or even green screen backgrounds and be able to add depth dependent effects. I would love those features so much, all the creative stuff I can think of doing with that is insane. Anyways, thanks for even making this app and bringing portrait video to iPhone! Love the app, I got the lifetime membership a while back and I love it.

The BEST Video + Editing App on the Planet!!!. Huge fan. Can’t say enough good things. I feel like it has so many great features and it regularly gets updated and improved! I love that I can add my own LUTS. Also, the bokeh effect is like having a DSLR in your pocket everywhere you go. HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GET THE PAID VERSION. Worth every penny!

Decent App… But Not impressed. Has some nice features but I got this primarily for the blur background feature. Which is basic and static. You can use the blur feature if you purchase the app and once you edit in the blur, the blur doesn’t adjust with your movements. Also if you record using the app.. There doesn’t appear to be an option to delete recorded videos. Overall barely impressed by this App.

Worth the one-time purchase!. There are so many video editing apps available from amateur level to professional level. None of them offer the flexibility on the iPhone or iPad that Focos Live does. Focos Live is somewhere in-between and fits in quite well in the semi professional category. It is basic enough for a complete newbie but very flexible enough to handle ‘pro’ video editing. I have imported my own LUTS without issue. Focos Live has its very own filters that are very impressive, too, as well as an impressive array of sound and transition options. The export options are easy and simple to adjust, and hands 4K output with ease. I absolutely enjoy and love using Focos Live both on my iPhone and especially on my iPad Pro. This app will get heavy usage - it’s that GREAT.

This app would be great with cinema stabilization.. This camera app could quickly rise to the top of the camera app food chain with 10 bit Dolby Vision. It would also benefit immensely from Cinema 1 / Cinema 2 level stabilization by tapping into the IBIS hardware / sesnsor shift technology of the iPhone 12 Pro Max. You should also consider adding ISO control, shutter speed ,white balance control and 24 fps. I hope some of these items are already scheduled for inclusion in your next update?

False advertising. It’s called focos live which is very similar to focus live but you can’t do any focus things (aperture) without the paid version

Great, but needs a free plan. I personally think this is a great app, but one great addition would be to add a free plan with limited resources but still able to adjust focus and that sort of thing, similar to the photo editing version, Thanks for listening/reading 😀

No image stabilisation. Optical image stabilisation isn’t enabled and can’t be enabled so you lose all of the inbuilt image stabilisation of the phone. Controls are very basic too. So pretty much pointless to me.

Absolutely amazing. I had bought Focos a while ago, and was looking for an application for Portrait Mode Video when this was announced. The Pro Version as a one-time purchase is definitely worth it. 10/10 would recommend.

Better Audio Options. I would love to see more audio options, such as EQ and background noise reduction added in the future. In saying that, I’m just about to purchase this outright because the rest of the app is fantastic!

Amazing. Whenever I am too lazy to edit on my MacBook focus live is my go to. Easy to maneuver

App not working anymore.. I ended up buying the lifetime use for $20 a while back. It was working fine for a year and now it keeps freezing, deeming it useless. I suggest not using this app and using something that works better and has more features! Capcut and videoleap are better alternatives.

No features work without payment. Just make this a paid app at this point, why allow free download?

You sacrifice a lot to have a blur backs effect. You totally lost the video stabilization

App crashes on iPhone 13 Pro. The bug is never fixed. Always freeze while I’m editing then the app crashes. When exit the app and re-start my edits are not saved. Not able to use at all.

Great uses, terrible pay structure.. I tried FocosLive during the first free week trial and quite liked it. It has a great “Blur” feature for videos, which is a “Pro” feature. I would be happy to pay an upfront amount for full app use — say, $50/year, as an example, but it is structured as $2.49/week and cancel whenever, but that seems to be the only option! $130/year for an app seems ridiculous. I don’t want to pay $2.49 every week I want to use the app! Instead, I will just delete this and look for others with a better/one-time payment structure with similar features.

Easy to use and works well. This is a cool way to shoot video with a phone! I would love an update to offer 10 bit HDR recording and exporting.

It has potential but it crashes so much and it’s full of bugs all over. This app is ok for short form content, however it constantly crashes after a few minutes of work, you can get around it, but it makes it super stressful when you’re often loosing your work. There’s bugs with the titles.

Can’t do anything without payment. As soon as you open the app it forces you to start a subscription. It does give you a free week but only if you start the subscription. You can’t do anything, you can’t even click on settings. If i can’t edit even one video without giving my payment information i refuse to try this. I’m very happy to support and pay for apps i find useful but why don’t they just be honest and make this a paid app. Nothing about this is free.

Good app - Price too high!. That you should pay weekly to use this app is ridiculous… What started out as a great and fun app turned into the worst money making machine. Honestly I’d rather buy an iPhone 13 to film cinematic mode than to pay so much money for an app that I don’t even use on a regular basis! Sad!

Bokeh Background effect Review (aka blurred big deal). August 2023 Review of Cinematic effect with bokeh (aka blurred background) on iphone 11: doesn’t work well for wide (aka YouTube)video ratio. There’s even a warning to shoot cinematic in portrait style for best effect. The render time is more than double the vid time. and it failed to convert a 20 second video. The cost has skyrocketed to 5.40 per week Canadian. That’s $259.20 a year folks! And you don’t even own the app😮 Take away: If you are shooting short video for Instagram or TikTok and have somebody else paying your bills, then go for it. Otherwise walk away. there are much better options for bokeh effect out there

Good app but subscription model is a deal breaker. Good app for applying effects with an iPad but I hate keeping track of subscriptions. They bait you with an unlimited lifetime access but greed has taken over and another cheesy gym membership model has come into play. For me subscriptions are a deal breaker but if you like accumulating financial outflow this is a good app to help with the drain $10 a month/$120 a year. From Developer I can’t subscribe to the lifetime plan. How do I do this? Disappointing!. I downloaded the app with the free version, a while later nothing was working! I couldn’t press anything without your pop-ups telling me to get the pro version! I never signed up, nor enter the free trial! Nothing is free! The download is free, but the app itself isn’t. Disappointed, a month ago everything was working, except for the pro features, however, now nothing is working! Even the free features!

This used to be amazing. Now everything is a paywall. You used to be able to use the core features for free which was amazing. I was content with the base app, but now you can’t tap anywhere without it asking you to buy the premium subscription. I’m not even joking. You can’t start a new project without the pop up, open previous projects, open videos, you can’t do absolutely anything. Even tapping the blank space at the top of the app initiates a paywall. Is this intentional or is this a bug? Just make the app paid or free with ads or something. I would rather make one payment of 9.99-12.99 rather than subscribe to an app I’m not always gonna use.

This is amazing!. I bought Focus Live Pro because I was interested in the higher output resolutions and frame-rates. I probably wouldn’t have been as comfortable purchasing it had you not allowed me to experience so much of the app in the free version. One thing I would love to see added is a histogram or even better a waveform monitor to get a more honest view of my exposure levels. How will the new iPad Pro with LiDAR work with Focos Live? Will it get similar results to the front facing TrueDepth camera on the iPhone 11 Pro? It would be nice to have a device with a rear facing camera that worked as accurately as the TrueDepth front camera does.

Please add option to brighten all layers in a project. Great app and live that is blurs the background making videos look more professional, but can they please make it so uou can adjust the brightness/color/ect of all layers at once instead of like 100 layers individually?

Why only 10 minutes?. The app stopped recording after 10 minutes. Why? This isn’t listed anywhere as a limitation of the free version, and nowhere on the App Store or the website describes the differences between free vs pro. The depth effect is good but it was infuriating to shoot a 45 minute clip only to find out that it had cut me off at 10 minutes.

Amazing.. Not only is portrait video beautiful, but of all the video editing apps that exist, this is the ONLY one that can do everything I need to do to a clip. So happy I found this I’ve been telling everyone I know. The audio can be a bit buggy sometimes…and a desktop/web version would be great!

Wow!. This developer is one of the few to create magic on iOS devices. Focos for still photos is certainly one of the best post-capture apps available. Now, Focos Live promises the same for video! And he says more enhancements are coming!

Great App. I used this app to make GIF and it’s works really well. I also used it to edit my videos before sharing it to my social media account. I haven’t used the paid version yet because as far as the fee version goes, it is great for me.

Apple should buy this out. They did “cinematic“ video before apple. Also made portrait mode better. I wish apple would buy them out so he can join the team and really work on this with unlimited resources.

Was a 5 star app. Over the course of less than three months this went from being a great app to an app where you have to redo projects several times because the app crashes and loses progress, and when you overcome all that…well…good luck downloading it. Paid $9.99 because of my past experiences only to be thoroughly disappointed. Oh Focos, what happened to you?

Used to love this app. The app used to have free features and features that were for a pro subscription , now you have to pay to do anything on the app and that is such a horrible update. I really loved the app and wont be able to find one where i was doing this specific thing. I cant even click on my old projects without it taking me to the subscription screen and its very cringe. Why did you guys ruin your app.

About the background blur video. Very well the blur of the video but one mistake is that the video is used and playing slow sometime Lip sing is anywhere else in the video movement anywhere elseI mean lip sing is getting late and video is playing but very excellent blur blur gotten thank you

Fantastic quality. Excellent editing features.. Focos Live is perfect for shooting portrait or cinematic video on my iPhone 11 Pro. This is my go to app for editing videos. I love the control the app gives me to shoot and edit how I want.

Crashes constantly all of a sudden. Useless and frustrating. This app used to work great but in spite of uninstalling and reinstalling and trying everything the app often crashes when it tries to play the next clip in the sequence. Those crashes seem to contribute to an inability to export as well. I like this app. I used to teach with it too. But I can’t justify paying a SUBSCRIPTION for something this buggy.

Keep crashing. Some of the videos are being stuck on processing and never gets to another side. 😭 I love this app but because of this issue will have to look for a new one

Great background blur. I use this just in case I’m not using my mirrorless camera. If I didn’t know any better, I would think I was using just that with this app! This app is the reason I don’t have to upgrade to the new iPhone 13

Great app, brings cinematic mode to older iPhones.. Great application. Not only brings cinematic mode to iPhones other than iPhone 13, it also allows you to shoot in frame rates other than 30 FPS.

Perfect. I’ve been using this for maybe a month now and I have checked other apps as well and I think this app has some awesome unique effects in it. I think everyone can use it and its very easy.

Needs ISO control. Can you add an ISO setting when shooting videos unless that is the brightness setting already on there ? It would be nice to know what ISO you choose to set it at. It’s basically necessary for having great looking shots unless that isn’t possible?

Removed the 15$ life time purchase. They want to charge you 4$ A WEEK just to be able to use it. Went from free with the lifetime payment option to what it is now. Long time user since early development of this app (even before cinematic mode was a thing). Unfortunately I can’t support the developer at this rate unless they go back to their reasonable lifetime plan. Same goes with their photos app.

Great app, easy to use. I also really love the tutorials, which are simple but effective. Perfect for social media posts. For real in-depth editing, I’d still recommend computer editing.

Paid to use functions that didn’t work. You have to pay to use certain functions and when I did they didn’t work which was being able to export videos in 1080p and 4K, when I finally bought the premium I tried exporting them to these qualities but they still exported at 720p using the video stabilizer

False Advertising. BUYER BEWARE! There is no one-time purchase available in spite of what it says in the on the App Store. This is a subscription model only. Dev should change the description or make the one time purchase available. Until then my review stands. Fine app, but the false promise of a one-time purchase is shady and unethical . I have contacted the developer and Apple about this, but more than a year later the issue persists.

No portrait mode at 1x zoom for iPhone XS. Great App. Unable to take a portrait mode video at normal 1x zoom due to hardware limitation on iPhone XS Max. For some reason it work with the front facing camera though. Image stabilization is possible in edit mode. Really useful.

Focos Live. The camera and editing features are a favorite tool of mine to create short videos and easy to share with others.

Awesome. Love love love. Has everything I need. Incredible bookeh and filters, great for social media share. Wish it had more font selections tho. Like a mojo app fused with focusLive. Some glitches with the iPad version when editing longer videos (10:00+) but overall great app.

Best yet. I’ve been using KineMaster to create and edit videos for a long time. Focos Live gives me even better control and has a few additional features I really appreciate.

Thanks for pay-gating your entire app. After using and loving this simple camera app that adds a bit more cinematic feel over the factory iPhone camera, this company decided to make 100% of the app premium out of nowhere and now won’t even let you use the camera at all. Not a single piece of this is available without signing up for “pro”. Which makes no sense since there is no “lite” version anymore. Terrible and greedy decision. Uninstalled.

Really good app. The app is really good it has great features such as ( filters, clips that come with app, audio editing, and more ) they have lots of stuff. My only pet peeve is that not all features are free. If you want to have access to all features you have to pay a premium subscription for them.

DO NOT BUY. Whatever you do, do not by this app. Save yourself the headache because it freezes all the time and projects don’t save. It just stopped being great. The options to edit are fantastic but the ability to save or even complete a project is AWFUL now. It’s a waste.

Incredible App!!. I Llllllove this Focos LIVE app for videos and their Focos app for photography. I do a lot of heavy editing. And almost everything I do crosses this software at some point. I hope to see more royalty free audio added in the future. 😁😁😁😁

Best out there. One of the better “aperture-adjusting” video apps out there. Some if the background bokeh is a little squiggly in some videos, but it’s still better than anything else out there

Freezes. I’m using in iPhone 11 Pro and the app freezes while recording video. It picks up but then the video and audio are not in synch because the audio is never interrupted but the video is. I’ve turned off all other apps, thinking that maybe the phone was overloaded. Nope. It’s a great idea and I was able to record one video without problems. But nothing after. I was going to buy the full version, but after re-recording over and over again with the same problem, I won’t.

Help. I got the app and is keeps saying Portrait mode but it’s crossed out i tryed reinstalling it after trying the app focus and it worked and i have been trying for an hour and if my resonpose is short it’s because i wrote a big response and it got delete before it got sent so yeah (I am on an iPad 6)

How do you delete videos?!. I absolutely love this app but I have an issue as i can’t seem to find how to delete Portrait Videos that you have taken within the App. My phone is bloated with all these video clips that I can’t delete, please help! Thanks, Zach

Sound is gone. Lost hours of recording.. I was excited about this app. I tested it recorded a few test videos all seemed fine. Then when I recorded the videos that I actually needed which took me a few hours. When I went to edit and export ALL the sound was gone on the longer videos 5-7min videos. What a waste of my time and effort!!! How is this possible! I contacted support and no answer. Hopefully I get an answer here. But based on other unanswered reviews highly doubt it.

Hopefully you haven’t stopped updates. This has been the best video editing app I’ve found but unfortunately for the last month or so it’s been crashing after a few tasks. It freezes. You have to force quit. I sent an email but no response. Hopefully you fix the issue.

WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION!. I am trying to cancel the free trial but when I emailed them they said to go into the app and “settings” and cancel there, however, THERE IS NO “SETTINGS” button and nowhere to cancel. I saved screenshots and will dispute with my credit card should they try to charge me after I sent REPETITIVE EMAILS telling them to cancel my account. This isn’t about how good the app is or isn’t, it’s about being a scammer to get your money when you decide you don’t want or need that app.

Great Video Editor. This app is amazing. I love the way you can easily add and edit videos from your photo library. It’s easy to learn, simple to use, and packed full of tool. This is a definite buy for any amateur photographer/videographer.

Dysfunctional. I payed for the fifteen dollar fee to use this app to it’s full potential a couple years back, and I wasn't disappointed. But after redownloading this app on a new phone, and iPhone 8 plus mind you, the application began crashing, stuttering, and glitching non stop. Since the end of last year Ive been having nothing but problems. I’m just really bummed out this application just up and stopped functioning for me.

It’s great, but…. I came across this app yesterday. It’s amazing!… But there seems to be an issue during export. The pink “progress bar/circle” completes, but nothing happens. I sat there waiting almost 2 hrs, but nothing came of it. Hope this can be resolved in the near future.

Amazing. Effortlessly binds videos that get split into four while recording a single stream. Therefore you can record HD video with various filters. Only now with this app, you have the ability to subtract the minimized quality due to the auto splicing on apps that use Stories and such.

The new developers who purchased this app don’t seem to want to do any development.. - Please add HSL color grading - Remove the constant pop up’s for AppStore reviews [even after reviewing] It seems this company bought this brilliant all to kill it, in order to bring more profits into their poor editing app called “Splice” It has now turned into a cash grab, milking the app for money without adding any new features. Focos for life. Been waiting for this for a while. The original Focos app is magic and underrated by a long shot. The developers for these tools design apps that can create beautiful things and also a ton of fun to play with

Constantly freezes on iPad. I love this app, when it works. My iPad version is virtually unusable now and I cannot figure out why. Updates and available memory are not issues. I just purchased a new iPad Pro with mega memory and it is still not working. Super sad, please help; I don’t want to quit the app. My iPhone has no problems with the app.
