Very Accurate On Available Chargers, Pricing And Percentage Of Charge. I have taken 2 road trips of 300 miles one way and I have been impressed with the app. It lets you know if the chargers you are looking for are available as you get there. The availability on the app is similar to that on location. I have set up my card to be topped up after a certain monetary level in the app and while charging, if I go away from the car, I am able to accurately check my charging status. Electrify America chargers are getting more reliable and using an non-Tesla EV on road trips would be impossible without EA chargers and the app makes it so much easier to navigate your route. The app would be complete if it would allow you to plan a trip from point A to B whilst accessing the chargers. You have to use some 3rd party apps to do this eg Plugshare, ChargeHub EV, Chargeway, usually a combination of those to effectively plan a trip.

“Complicate America”. Electrify America frequently brags, “we make FREQUENT UPDATES…” Some bragging right that is! For those of us in rural areas, not having real internet service, apps that have to be updated nearly every two weeks through our cell phone service results in getting “throttled” by our phone company because we have to make frequent updates. “FREQUENT UPDATES” is nearly the equivalent of your dealership telling you twice per month “we screwed up and you need to bring your vehicle in because we need to install different wiper blades.” Stop with the FREQUENT updates! Additionally, the payment method for EV charging through this app is not convenient. Why not make your app simpler by allowing us to PAY BY CREDIT CARD at the charging station? I’m fed up with this app and deleted it!

A Work in Progress?. I have been using the Electrify America system exclusively since August 31st because my townhouse has no permission to plug in my new electric car. The charging speeds vary tremendously for every pump I plug into (I have tried every pump at a location more than once) and one pump consistently wants to charge my car at almost double the KW of what my car is requesting. The pumps always display this behavior and I have never once seen a maintenance technician at any location. Why it usually takes me twice as long to get to an 80% charge as is expected is very frustrating! And I have reported these issues repeatedly to EA and to my car dealer once. October had better be a different experience or I am reporting these issues to my National, State, and local agencies!

Chargers out of service. I have been using EA for 2 years now and it slowly but surely deteriorating; every single station i have ever been has at least one charger that is unavailable due to being out of order. A recent trip from Eureka, CA to San francisco took me 7 hours for instead of 4 and a half hour plus charging (1 hour, 2 stops) only one charger out of 4 available at willits, 3 cars waiting….. at safeway on Noriega street chargers running at 44KW instead of usual 115kw i get. Finally at BofA in los Gatos, ca, only one out 3 chargers working and charging at 62kw….,very frustrating i reported all of them, but call center cannot do anything but request service, rep acknowledged they are unable to start anything, they must request maintenance. I have seen chargers out if order for months. Really.

Horrendous!. I bought an Ioniq and got a two year plan which sounded great. However, they have so few charging stations (I live in the 4th largest city in the US and there’s only 5 stations) and the ones that do work have NEVER have all the charging ports working and the ones that do work are throttled down to 50KwH instead of the advertised 150 KwH. I suspect they do this so that you’re forced to go over the 30 minute charging plan thus allowing them to charge you more money. In addition, the app rarely recognizes me when I sign in so I have to manually enter all my information every time I sign in. This morning when I needed a charge, the app showed no stations in the 800 square mile area I’d be driving which I know is false so here I am sitting at a non existent station with half the chargers out of service and the others taken and only charging at 1/3 the advertised power. On the bright side, their customer service people are helpful. Believe me, you’ll need customer service a lot with this company 😩

Couldn't get the chargers to work. I recently bought a 2023 Kia Ev6 around 3 days ago and apparently with the purchase comes free charging at Electrify America stations. I found out this was a thing when my car had around 90 miles left so I made my way over to the nearest EA charger. When I got there, I immediately started having problems with the charger where it wouldn't register me unplugging it to start a new session. I also tried to tap my phone against the charger at the phone reader for the membership screen but it did nothing. I then tried swiping it and holding it against the phone reader multiple times but neither worked. I gave up and went to the guest screen to pay using card which then declined my card. It was working before and after I got there so after all my effort I couldn't even charge my car. I tried to contact the customer support number but the call failed all 3 times. I assume it was because of reception but I was able to call family immediately after leaving. Multiple other cars pulled up and had their own issues during my time there and all of them left without charging. Overall some of the issues I had weren't their fault, so I'm giving this 2 stars even though I have to wait until my home charger gets installed in 2 days to drive it again.

Did not work for me. This is my experience, albeit short. I downloaded the app, stopped at a station that had four units. To charge my EV, I tried to pay through the app without success. I called support who walked me through the steps. Still no go. I added my membership card to Apple Wallet, added funds. No go. Tried another unit at the same station. No go. Also, the plastic plug fits very tight into the car receptacle. I had some difficulty removing it. The cable rather heavier than competitors’. Tried to log into my account on my laptop: I could not: message problem with captcha but there was not captcha! The bright spot is customer service: prompt and competent (hence two stars rather than one.) Alas nothing else works. Deleting my membership.

Confusing & Unrealiable. Yeah, their chargers are fast, but the app incorrectly shows the amount in your account, so it’s always auto reloading when I thought I still had $ and is more confusing and annoying than it’s worth. Plus you have to completely delete your account to get back your balance if you want to cancel your plan and just use up what’s still there, and instead wait for them to credit it back to your bank. P.I.T.A. Meanwhile you don’t even have an account to log back into to check on it or save that history. This company is has real scammy values.

The Charging Stations are the problem. There are very few charge American stations here on the East Coast. And even fewer in the New York City metropolitan area. Here on Long Island there’s only one that’s convenient to my hom. I have a Honda clarity plug-in electric hybrid. It only works with the 50 kW charger and there’s only one of them at the charging station near me. The charger is constantly having problems and unavailable. The Customer service team is very professional and understanding and tries to be very helpful. But at the end of the day there’s very little they can do if the charger that is at the service area is sub par. I never have these issues when I go to other charging stations on other networks

Worst customer service ever!!!!. I drive for Lyft and I went to charge my car after a long fare. To be clear, I was 188 miles from home and the gate concluded at 12:32am in the middle of nowhere! There was a problem with the app and I was unable to charge my car. I called the customer service number and Daniella answered the phone. Daniella was polite and courteous. I asked her to help me and that I know they can give a one time free charge if the situation calls for it. So she asked her ‘leader’, a man called AJ, and AJ said no. I again, asked her to explain to him that this was a rather desperate situation and that I have (literally) no way to charge my car and that I am 2 1/2 hours away from home. I asked them to make whatever concession they could; a one time free charge, or just allow me to pay it later or bill me, anything that would allow me to get home as I was T 1% battery and I didn’t even have enough charge tk get to the next station. She asked, explained the situation thoroughly and again AJ said no. Essentially saying , we really don’t care, just go away. So like I said, worst customer service ever! Stay away from this company!

App A Little Clunky-Stations Not Reliable. Did my first charge today since becoming a member. Went to an area where there are 4 stations. First station I went (350kw) to both said not operational. Next I moved over next to another car that had finished charging but had been idle for over 45 min. I tried to use the same station with the second connector and couldn’t get it initiated (again, this was a 350 kw station). So only one out of 4 possible 350kw station was working. Moved to a third station and hooked up to a 150kw and it worked. I couldn’t figure out how to use the app to register the problems at the site. Hopefully this will be seen and responded to. p.s. the apple wallet payment app worked just fine.

Not working with pre-iOS 13 devices. Every time I open the app, it requires me to update to iOS 13 in order to use it, which isn’t possible with my iPhone 6 Plus. Think about it: how am I supposed to road trip an electric car using this network when the app doesn’t even work. Can I use a credit card? Yes, but I’m paying for a membership to get a discounted rate. In my entire life, I never would’ve thought that the only limitation with road tripping an electric car is that my phone is too old. You don’t think there are elderly EV owners that want to go places with this network and don’t even have phones? Come on, you can do better.

Just says Loading and doesn’t show stations. I don’t have a compatible vehicle but wanted to use this app to see where the charging stations are in my area, to see if they might work for me in the future. I launch the app, skip sign on, and am staring at a map with no charging stations and a Loading indicator that lasts for minutes. Sometimes a few stations appear eventually, but if I pan or zoom the map they disappear again. I have really solid internet so that’s not the problem.

Need to discuss etiquette. Chargers are great. People, not so much.. Outside temperature was 108. No shade. 1 charger was off line. Three people charging beyond 80%. 3 people waiting to charge. The man in front of me waited 1.5hr and I waited 45 minutes. I fortunately parked uphill from the chargers. I had zero range and coasted into the charging space when it was my turn. One woman unplugged and sat in the space looking at her phone until I got her attention and explained thru the closed window that there was a line waiting to charge. She didn’t seem to understand the problem. There is no way to get a queue started so people who are there first get next available. Just three guys standing in the dead space talking about electric cars directing traffic. Did I say it was 108 degrees? Slow charging cars like the woman in the Chevy taking up space in fastest charging station and a faster car can not reach top charging speed. Otherwise, a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

App works well, the charging stations are not always great.. The app works great. Unfortunately the charging stations tap function doesn’t always work. A lot of the chargers go out and need maintenance. It does seem like they fix them frequently but they are constantly going down. So unless they have a tech for every location that is a problem. Another issue is that many of the places the chargers are at are not organized well. When putting the chargers in they should design it to have places for people to line up, instead it is often a bit of chaos and I’ve seen a few arguments get out of hand. They could fix this by designing the flow when installing the chargers.

Great customer service. I just bought a VW Id.4 and I have used Electrify America twice. First time worked perfectly with no problems. Charged from 20% to 80% in about 25 minutes. The second time I parked on the wrong side, read the wrong pump number and then I couldn’t remove the plug from my car. I thought something was broken and called customer service. The woman on the phone politely worked me through all my mistakes and guided me through how to correctly charge it. Great customer service. Super quick. Free for VW owners for three years! I haven’t paid for any charges yet!

Glitchy, needs UI/UX testing. The app is slow to load and poorly designed. As others have said, it would be better to design the ports with A/B as opposed to the charger ID. Often I end up relying on locals telling me which station works because about a third of the time, what the app shows and what in reality is available are two different things. Also please remove the option of showing me “future charging stations” — that’s not helpful in most situations. It would also be good to have integrations with Polestar, Google, etc as often I have to search across three apps to make this one useful.

Tested with multiple vehicles. I’m a car journalist and use EA on a daily with EV vehicles and many will run into issues I’m writing this to let future users know that chargers aren’t the issue it comes down to the manufacture. I’ve driven the Kona EV with every charge didn’t run into any issues but well testing the EV6 I ran into many issues that I couldn’t charge. The Mach-E had some issues months ago but on the latest updates they vehicle didn’t run into any issues. Each vehicle will be a unique experience. The EA team has been helpful in the past when giving feedback on vehicles.

Simply Your EV Charging Experience. We drive a Hyundai Kona Electric. We have recently started using our EV for long road-trips. Electrify America has easily become the most reliable and well-spaced/placed high powered (150kw+) charging stations for us. We quickly learned by experience that you should get the Electrify America app and set up an account (no charge) to make paying easy as the card readers are very finicky/unreliable. Once you plug-in simply swipe the selected station number within the app to pay and start your session. Just get the app, save yourself the frustration and make charging a breeze.

Barely good, definitely it great. The good: easily find and get directions to a charging station The bad: - must tap an icon for a charging station three-to-four times to select and view the details of that individual charging station. Use the app enough and this will bug you too. - filter doesn’t consistently work. For example, can’t filter to view only 150kw chargers and can’t filter out “level 2” plug. - when “the maximum power of a charger has been temporarily reduced in order to improve service and perform an update” (actual message displayed on a charger), the app does not reflect that information. - charge history is not accessible/displayed Not necessarily bad about the app, but still: - when an charger is having an issue, I have called customer service to troubleshoot. When unsuccessful and the agent admits that the charger is not functioning properly, the agent is not able to label the charger as “unavailable” In the app. Therefore, the charger remains available and more customers come to the charger and try again. The cycle repeats.

Poorly maintained. Always full cuz auto makers give this network away for free.. Do I eventually get a charger to work after going to multiple locations? Yea. Sure. Sometimes. But usually they’re broken if not just straight up full. It’s super rare to find an open location during the day. If you expect to be able to just pull up plug in and be done forget it. Get a Tesla. The only positive thing I can say about this network is they’re actually starting to upgrade their units to 350kw chargers. But they’re so coveted it’s a vicious experience dealing with other on edge charging people. This network just isn’t there yet. The whole experience everyone is on edge trying to get into a spot then make sure they can even charge. And it’s like omg what if I pull into a broken one and someone pulls into the working one after me. For real this experience is currently in shambles and almost a scam.

Stations always down and not showing on the app. I travel some distance from my house to use these superchargers. It is very frustrating when the app says they are all up in functional, but when I get to the charging station only one or two out of five are functional. It would be great if they could keep their stations up and going, especially in heavily populated areas. It would be even better if their app was accurate. Starting to use the FP&L evolution, charging stations that are popping up. Their app is up-to-date, the stations are almost always online and functional, and the pricing seems to be better.

Wish it worked. I go to EA when on trips or when I need a quick charge. Never fails there’s always at least one or 2 non working chargers. I went to the coast a week ago, stopped at Indio to charge. 4 chargers there, 3 were in use, 3 cars waiting. I roll to the one charger no one is using. It’s not working. I look at the connector and it’s broken. I plug in, hold the connector up, and initiate charger. It works as long as I hold the connector. I called EA to report it. I explain exactly what’s going on. The tech support person tells me it working fine, she can see right now that it charging my vehicle. I again explain why it’s charging. Still no help. Couldn’t wait to get me off the line. I’m guessing it’s still broken. All we need is a good reliable vendor and I can’t imaging it wouldn’t make money. They’re charging $.50 kWh. There was 3 cars waiting the whole time. EA needs to step up their game.

App generally is fine but…. So, I don’t necessarily have an issue with the app as much as I do with some practices the company does with it. The fact I can’t turn off auto-refill is shady. I get they want it to remain continuous - but that doesn’t make sense at a refill at $5. If it was a dollar - sure - but $5? The other option is to just use card which leaves a whopping $50 hold on your card. With the app - I also don’t like that they sometimes list some of the stations as having open chargers only to find that that charger is out of service. Wish I could love using their services - but just feel like they could be better. I honestly try to avoid using their stations as a result of these practices as much as possible.

Easy to use!. Not only is this app easy to use, but I live in King County in Washington State and these @&)#% charging stations are EVERYWHERE even when you venture out of the county in any direction. They charge fast, this app helps you find them notifies you of charging updates. One thing I’m not sure of is if the charging stations are keeping track of our license plates because the other day I pulled up to one and it told me that my session would be free and sure enough the session fee was zero after charging for 45 minutes!

Hoping for some basic improvements. Charge scheduling on my home charger is not friendly. When I set up a charge schedule, it isn’t always saved (and no way to know but after the fact , i.e. it didn’t work). If you have a saved schedule and decide to manually charge you car, you have to disable the schedule and all the information is lost, so next time you want to use the schedule, you have to reprogram it. Simple features that are common to many apps that have scheduling are missing, e.g. setting the same schedule for every day of the week vs manually programming each day. Would have been nice if there was a physical “on/off” button on the charger that didn’t require the app to run.

Absolute Joke. I pulled into a station with 5 chargers, and frustratingly none of which would accept my credit card. So I downloaded the app and became a member. When I tried to add my credit card, the app repeatedly told me to “check my payment details and try again”. I tried another card, same thing. I finally got a card to work, so I added the payment method to Apple Wallet. When I tried to tap my phone to the scanner, it told me my payment method was invalid. Luckily I had enough charge to get to the next station or else things could have turned out horribly. Ultimately, it’s ridiculous that I even need to download an app to pay when it just uses my credit card anyways. It’s ridiculous that I have to set up the app well in advance in order to charge my car. The app is pointless and poorly executed.

Charging my car. Okay, new car, first road trip. I used my credit card the first time, then I realized I should become a member. Remember, I’m a newbie. I pull up to the charger, plug in and open the app. It asks, which charger. I was using #1, so I enter #1, like you would at a gas pump. I end up calling for help. My problem was a rookie mistake. Electrify America could have used “A” and “B” for CCS v CHadmo (or CCS#2). The charger number they wanted was up at the top, oof, silly me. Okay, I’ll know next time, but I’ll bet others have made my rookie mistake. Okay, it’s charging. My predicted time was 22 min at 50kW. It’s going to be a lot longer at it’s current 27kW rate. If you are electric, you don’t have any other options. Is it my Chevy Bolt, the charger, or the combination? PW

Add some helpful features please. I only use this app to check status on the availability of the chargers in my area, which is only somewhat helpful. What would be better would be if the app could show me what the in-use charging status of the current users was. For example, when I get to a full station, it would be helpful to be able to get a rough idea of how long I can expect to wait for a charger to open up. In other words if I could see that one of the cars being charged was currently at 85% , I would be able to assume that I wouldn’t be waiting very long for it to open, whereas if I saw they were at 20% I would know it may be a while. Without this feature I’ve had to get out of my car and walk up to the charging station to physically check the status of each so I could determine whether I should stay and wait or try back later. Please consider adding this option to make charging my car a bit easier.

Very helpful but it should allow users to share info. Great information about available charging stations and up-to-date status of chargers. It would be great if there was a way we could share feedback in real time in the app about how many cars are waiting at a full station. It would help other drivers know whether to find a different station. This feature would be similar to how Waze allows users to report accidents and traffic conditions to each other. Thanks

Horrible App. Roughly 50% of the time this app absolutely refuses to start the charging. You plug in and get the message “communicating with vehicle, this may take a few minutes” after a few minutes the screen on the charger reverts to the main screen and no charge occurs. You end up going through the unplug Re plug several times with several chargers if they are even available and they you get lucky and charging starts after 30 minutes and sometimes longer. Then most stations have only 3 chargers, sometimes 4 chargers and most times there is at least one out of service so 25% to 33% are not operational at all. Get ready to spend 4 to 6 hours a week trying to keep the car charged This is the worst app and the worst charging infrastructure in the world!!!!!!! It boggles the mind they are still in business On Monday I am visiting Hyundai dealer and will try and return the vehicle because this is not what they promised Meanwhile the same plaza has 22 Tesla Chargers and there are always at least 6 to 12 available. Nobody ever waits to charge at the Tesla stations

No charging status & history for Home sessions. As another reviewer noted, the app stopped providing charging status at home around July 1st. We are using the EA HomeStation Level 2 charger. App is up to date (version 7.5.1) on both mobile devices. Home router and charger have been through several power off reboots. Once when the status indicated not connected to our local network, we went through the app setup instructions again and that did restore connection status. However, the app is still not providing home session history. The “last charge” recorded for us was June 28, 2023. HomeStation does show that it is connected to our local network and still charges the EV as long as the EV is in the control of the charging session. The Home charging station session history was very nice while it was working and one can only hope that Electrify American restores this functionality in the near future.

Electrify America need improvement - both app and support. Traveling across country and therefore charging about 3 times a day for 2 months. I have 7 apps for different companies and use EA frequently. Hardware problems aside ( about 20% of the chargers are faulty) the app which normally works ok has just not worked during busy times ( this is Thanksgiving week). My guess is the account verification server EA uses is much too small to handle the traffic. I have had to use my Credit Card directly and pay the non-member fee. Back to the app, when it works it works, when it doesn’t work it is a pain, especially standing outside in 25 degree weather trying to get it working.

Terrible software, reasonably good hardware. I got the home charger, and I have to say: The app is really bad. The home charger hardware is good (delivers the juice, feels well built, etc). Things about the app that are hard to live with: 1) the home charger has the ability to schedule charging. This is great for those of you on time-of-use pricing. However, the time window cannot be longer than 12 hours. So, if your TOU window is 15 hours, like mine is, you’ll have to pick which 3 hours to sacrifice (to lose charging automation in the beginning or end of the actual window). 2) sometimes, the scheduled charging just… doesn’t. I have no idea why. The customer service team told me to reboot my charger and that seems to have helped. This can be a big problem, since you’ll wake up expecting to be able to drive to work and be unable to since your car will not have juice. 3) the current charge status does not provide a graph of power vs time like some other apps, so you don’t get a full picture of how close your car is to getting a full charge. Sure, you can see how many kW and kWh, but that’s a bit hard to interpret. 4) the charging history contains all charging events EXCEPT the most recent. Why?!

Unreliable application. 6 month owner of an EV and it seems to only get harder to charge as time goes on. Aside from all the issues with the charging stations (or lack thereof), the application is now glitching. I stopped at a station to charge before a long road trip. I had to charge again in the middle of my trip and the application was still showing that I was charging 5 hours later. It wouldn’t let me initiate a new charge, so I had to wait 20 minutes to speak with support. I had to sign out to fix the issue, but when I tried to start a new charging session, the application froze on the initiating charge screen. Now I can’t even logout to fix it. Reinstalling the app seems like the only fix. My suggestion would be to have other options to charge using your account that don’t depend on the app.

Incompatible with iPhone 5S. I have been using this app to charge my car for about a year now, and a few days ago I opened it to find that an update was required, which would be fine except that it required iOS 13, which is not supported on the iPhone 5s (or 6/6 Plus for that matter). As a result no one in my family can use the app anymore, and we are forced to use a credit card or call them every time we want to charge (so we can’t check charge progress remotely). This is really disappointing since I have been very pleased with the rapid expansion of the network. I was considering purchasing a membership, but now it would be pointless. Even before the update, the app was incredibly slow to load, so much so that if I plugged in the car before finding the charger in the app it would often time out. Hopefully the incompatibility can be rectified ASAP. It would also be great to have an RFID card and web portal, which would alleviate this inconvenience.

The new idle fees are absolutely ridiculous.. It is now not feasible to use EV fast charging when planning family outings. Meanwhile, Tesla drivers can use these spaces just to park, and Electrify America will not do anything about it. Want to eat? pay us an idle fee. Want to see a movie? Pay us an idle fee. Want to work out at the gym? Pay us an idle fee. Want to charge at the mall? Idle fee please. This is simply a greedy money grab and this company has just lost my business. If this was really about making sure everyone had access to EV charging, then they would collect fees from towing vehicles that aren’t plugged in instead of harassing paying customers. Even if using the “free charging” the cost is built into the vehicle pricing. Electrify America gives me the ick. I’ll be paying to charge at competitors because it’s cheaper than the idle fees for coming back a few minutes late to the charger. RIP Electrify.

Can't rely on them. My car came with a free 3 year subscription for Electrify America. But for that subscription, I wouldn't use them and I've begun to pay for other charging services, like EvGo, rather than deal with Electrify America for free. Their problems begin and end with reliability. Case in point, they have 3 chargers in my local area. On the last 2 weeks, all have had at least 1 of their chargers down and two have had all but one charger down at varrying times. All three have had their charging speed throttled down to a third of capacity for that entire time. I havent had issues with lines at the chargers even though the free plan makes them the most popular in the area, but have had to abandon charging at them multiple times because they simply stopped working. The support staff has tried their best to help, but doesn't seem to be able to do much. I've loved my car and thanks to EVGo, charging has been easy. Electrify America on the other hand, they're just around. If I can use them for free, great, but I never count on them.

Please Create Privacy Mode at Chargers.. Please create a privacy mode to where people driving/walking by can’t see where you’re car is at with your charge. I’ve seen and heard of many confrontations happening because people get upset and confront others who are charging if they’re charging over 80%. For example, my car’s manufacturer recommends charging the battery to 90% for optimal battery life so for me charging to 80% only will just cause problems for me in the future. It would be great if the screen at the station had a privacy feature that way we could just see where the charge was at on the phone app but not on blast on the actual charger.

Poor usability, data glitches, requires force-closing app. Electrify America’s chargers in my experience are not bad and I’m comfortable using them. However, I mostly only use the CarPlay integration to start my charge and avoid the app otherwise. Here are my main issues: - If you have any issue starting your session within the app, you have to force-close the app to get back to a place you can start again - Starting a charge from inside the app with swipe (it just stays on “Initiating Charging” for minutes on end, whether it starts or not) - When it eventually does show the charging state, viewing the time remaining to your target amount is wrong - it shows “-1 minutes to 0%” which is obviously a bug - The app launch animation is so annoying, just make it start up quickly! - The actual charger data - like which are available - takes too long to update after sessions end, like multiple minutes, which is ridiculous when people are waiting for chargers - Often, the app has old session info when you start it - for example, it said “charging” on it when I opened the app this morning and took a while to realize that was yesterday and I am long since done. Similarly, my CarPlay interface will sometimes freeze on that screen too, thinking I’m still in a charging session. The app overall is alright, but they’ve got to fix these issues.

Never work on the first try.. I’ve had my Mustang Mach E for 6 months now and in all that time not once have I been able to just pull up to an Electrify America charger and plug it in and it work properly. Every time at every location I’ve ever been to I’ve had to take it out and plug it back several times. Sometimes as many as 10 times or more. What makes all of this worse is I have to wait for the app to realize that the charge has failed before I can even try again. The app will keep saying “initiating charge” long after I’ve had to unplug because it failed to start charging. This sometimes takes 2 minutes. Having to sit at a charger is already a hassle but to have to wait in between tries just to get the thing to START charging is absolutely ridiculous. EVgo never gives me any problems. I just plug up swipe to pay and it starts charging right away every single time. Electrify America needs to fix its issues ASAP. Once I close the app, I shouldn’t have to see “initiating charge” still on the screen for an additional 2 minutes. I honestly shouldn’t even have to plug it in more than once!

Easy and fast. Had trouble charging and with the app the first few times but after some good advice from support I realized some tricks and haven’t had an issue since. If I plugged in first (which is what the kiosks tell you to do)the app would show that the station was unavailable that I was plugged into and I couldn’t charge unless went back and forth with imitating charging and u plugged etc. I kept getting errors and charging would stop. Support asked me to try intimating on the app first, then plug in and for me it’s the only way charging works for me. Now charging is a breeze and I have not had an issue since. I can get to 80% in about 20 minutes now.

THEY DONT WORK IN THE COLD. Nothing is more frustrating than not being able to charge your car in the cold!!!! Sure, this place is a little cheaper than other places if you pay the monthly membership fee, but it’s not worth it if the chargers don’t work. Once it hits under 20 degrees, these chargers absolutely do not work. Not to mention there is typically one or two chargers at EVERY station that will be sown for maintenance. Thankfully I live in Colorado and we have many other choices that have GREAT reviews for even COLDER temperatures. I personally will not be supporting this company anymore. I saw a video from over a year ago addressing this problem with electrify America and they still haven’t bothered fixing the problem 👎👎👎 let’s support companies that listen to their consumers and make quality products, electrify America ain’t it

Useful for finding charger information but pretty limited. Ok, hard to not use this app if you plan on using their charging stations but I’m always using in partnership with one or two other apps. So it’s pretty single use. One of the most common things I use it for is exploring their stations and finding out: what’s nearby, how many chargers are actually working and charging speed. But… Please fix this: when you tap on a charging station it zooms all the way in to the location, then you must tap it again to see details. It’s super annoying because there’s so much zooming in (automatically) then manually zooming back out to see what other stations are nearby etc. Lets make that an option or just remove that function. It’s annoying. Pleas add this: option to use Google Maps or Apple Maps or just copy address when tapping “directions”. Instead it defaults to Apple. And that’s annoying. We should have options (similar to PlugShare), including sending the copied address to our respective navigation systems (Hyundai allows this on the iPhones). That said, it mostly works when charging etc. I appreciate being able to add the EA charging pass to your Apple Wallet. I’ve been using those app for 2 years now.

Critical UI flaws. If text size in iOS (Settings>Accessibility>Display & Text Size>Larger Text) is set to anything larger than microscopic — even if Larger Text is switched off — app won’t scale/scroll the screen to show critical buttons, so you’re stuck on that screen with no way to escape short of quitting the app. The only workaround is to reduce Larger Text size just to use the app, then increase it back when done. Even so, when entering text in important fields such as VIN, the field is obscured so it’s impossible to see what you’ve entered, or make corrections without deleting and starting over. There is no ability to set a search radius for nearby chargers, so it’s impossible to know where the nearest one actually is. Did the developer actually even test this app? It’s not ready for prime time and not worth the hassle to figure out. I’ll use EVGo instead.

Awful purchasing options, laggy. I just want to make an account and save a credit card. Nope, confusions abound. Gotta select a “plan,” one of which is free (that’s not a plan, bro). Then I can’t just use my card straight, I have to auto dump money into my account in $10 increments. Oh and don’t forget a laggy bad experience where it asks me for location access multiple times (including demanding location access 24/7, which lol no you’re nuts) I think I’ll just stick my card into the charger. App deleted. Terrible experience, I hope this company either gets with the times or gets bought by anyone else with a less predatory clue.

So many issues with my first charge at EA. I follow the electric mobility news closely, and I was curious to see if the EA’s reputation was founded. I was not disappointed. 1. I subscribed to a plan but the car wouldn’t charge, so I had to pay with my credit card. Got charged twice 2. The charger wouldn’t unlock once the car was charged at 80%. I called and stayed on the phone for 15 minutes, nothing happened 3. I ended being charged $70 for charging for 20 minutes 4. Because of the charging station not unlocking the car, I returned the rental car (Kia EV6) a few minutes late. I was charged $33 for the delay 5. The app crashes every 30 seconds telling me an error occurred This charge ended up costing me $100+ 6. The help tree map from customer service didn’t make sense. None of the help options applied to me 7. How is it that I need to select a station to contact somehow, but there is no smart search? So I have to close the message I’m trying, research the app to find the ID, type the message again? Please refund. Such a bad first experience.

App hasn’t worked properly for months. I have submitted issues with the app functionality repeatedly and there is still no fix. The tech team always reaches out for the same info (iPhone model, iOS used and Electrify America app version), which I provide, then the app never gets fixed. For months, when I open it, I get the same message that says “Oops! Something unexpected occurred…” This message prevents app users from seeing available stations, beginning charging from the app, etc. Alone, this might not be a showstopper, but given the other issues like broken RFID readers, etc, it makes for a poor user experience that can add considerable time to a charging stop. 2 days ago I stopped to charge and every user was griping about how the app wasn’t working and they were experiencing the same problems I just described. Not an electrifying experience.

Not awesome. I use charging stations all the time. I drive electric vehicles, I test and repair chargers. I almost live at charging stations M-F. I see so many people struggling with this app. Many times I walk them through the charging process and get them going. Many of the problems I see is when there are failed charge attempts. The app cannot keep up with what’s happening in realtime. You have a failed charge attempt and you change dispensers and try to use the app to pay at the new dispenser and it’s still stuck on the first one. Or you complete a charge and continue on your road trip, get to the next charger 200+ miles away and the app still thinks you are stuck at the last charging station. Many times you get a successful charging start, so you walk away and go get a coffee or start buying groceries and the app will send you a notification “charging error” so you go back out to look and everything is going just fine. The app is alright, but I really wish it worked in realtime.

Can’t change billing. I spent 13 minutes on the phone trying unsuccessfully to change to a no fee pass. First attempt on the app had an option for changing the billing. The app didn’t update my details. After that the option for a no fee pass disappeared. No amount of logging out and back in brought that option back.

Flaky App. I find this APP fairly flaky. I have created a bunch of FAVORITES a couple of times only to find them disappear a week or so later. Today the map in their APP wouldn’t even show their locations in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

Canadians Cannot Use While Travelling. This app does not allow you to use a credit card that does not have a US Zip code, precluding all travelling Canadians from paying with it.

Wrong app or in the wrong store. Why make this app available to Canadians if a Zip code is required?

Useless. I can’t remember ever wanting to rate an app as badly as this one. The app always bugs, there is no ability to see payment or charging history and it freezes regularly.

Can’t update my Canadian cc.. I can’t update my Canadian cc info on there even tho I’m doing the “00” trick. This is really frustrating. What I’m I supposed to do to travel at thanksgiving now!🤬

Routinely loses transaction and session history. Usually it only loses one or two but today I went to review my charging history and and there is nothing. Nothing under transaction history either. Phone support just “escalates” and I wait weeks to get an unsatisfactory response.

You may be able to use this as a Canadian. For the zip code use this format: “###00” where the numbers are the numbers in your postal code.

Charging History Unreliable. So far I’ve used an EA home charger exclusively. I have not used any public chargers since purchasing my first EV. I have been using it for approximately a year for scheduled charging during non-peak hours. Initially the EA app reported charging histories up until July 2023. I updated the app and the history updated but now the charging history hasn’t updated since January 19, 2024. I have had no other problems with the home charger or app. I wish they would fix this history glitch permanently!

How much left?. So far I haven’t had many issues with this app but I do have a suggestion. It would be nice if not only did the app tell us which stations are available or not but also how long each unavailable station has left, till 100%. That way we don’t have to guess which station is going to be free first and we don’t need to invade anyone’s space by having to walk up and check ourselves.

What an Improvement‼️. To be honest, I struggled with the tap and charge method of starting a charging session. It was finicky and frustrating and often required two or three plug and unplug efforts to get a session started. Once I read Joe to start a session with the app, it’s been one and done every single time. Thank you for an easy to use, easy to manage app. Excellent!!!

Keeping up with savings. I like the past thirty day total I have saved being displayed at the top of my charging history. Mentally I add that to my payment I was making on my Chevy Equinox, a much lesser car than my VW ID. 4. That cost plus the other items that EV never need wills always total more than the Equinox payment alone. This app is easy and intuitive. Looking forward to what improvements will come next.

Who created this piece of c***?. Horrible app and it doesn’t communicate properly with the charging station or customer service. I stopped charging earlier at 60%, unplugged it, and drove away. The app then told me to remove the car within the 10min grace period, which was counting down to zero. Had to pull over to call the customer service. The rep stopped the session on the charging station but cannot stop the countdown on my app. Restarting the app or the phone didn’t help. Now several hours later it’s still counting… not sure if I’ll be able to start a new charging session again, or if they’ll charge me on the “overtime” for the coming days or weeks…

Terrible service and even more terrible policies. I was charged an idle fee after Electrify America charger stopped charging all by itself. I was initially told that I would be reimbursed for the idle fee on recorded phone line, since it was not my fault, but then was sent an email days later taking back to refund because they had no record of an error on their charger. Problem is the lack of a record is an error itself. Why would somebody charge their car from 21% to 35% and then stop and rack up 24 minute idle charge fee, only to return to their car and have to charge the car for another 45 minutes, making them late for their appointments?

Availability. Hi, While I have app richard and enjoys Electrify America’s services, it has been a challenge finding stations available when needed. I usually have to wait for anywhere from 20min - 1hr for an available charger. I recommend and request for you to provide more charging stations at Marina Village n Huntington Beach. I think that Huntington Harbor in Huntington Beach would be a great spot to put them as well. Long Beach has none, but could benefit from some in Belmont Shore area. Same with Marina Del Rey and other areas nearby. Thank you!

Always broken. The app will tell you there are 3/4 chargers available when you’re there in front of the chargers and all chargers are taken. Many times one charger will be broken and the app will not let you know that, so you’ll park and find out the hard way. You call the support number and be met with the same scripting that they will report the broken charger but there is nothing more they can do for you. There is definitely no consideration for places that are ev heavy. No consideration for the driver who is waiting for the next charger to be free. No consideration for thee customer who drives far to charge to find a broken charger they were unable to report through the app.

Horrible! This company is a scam!!!. I went to the Bal Harbour shops across the street from my job and decided to charge my car. After 15 minutes trying to get one of the machines in the parking lot to work. I decided to call the support team so they would try to connect it from their end. Throughout the ordeal after over 45 minutes in total. The lady from their helpline was unable to help, I could not charge and ended up having to be towed as a result on my way home. I added $20 to my “electrify” card on my apple wallet. I have contacted support via email and they still have not refunded me. They are criminals!

Prescott Perfect. I like perfect. These new units are kept in good repair. When there is a problem, they get fixed, pronto. I’ve called customer service several times. They are always helpful and kind. The machines get fixed. Personally, I think EA should eliminate the touch screens as they are easily damaged and the app works perfectly well. Just require everyone to download the app.

Please fix the app!! Its so important!!!. When a charge cant start for whatever reason its almost impossible to exit the app n select the charger station number again to restart!! Charging itself is faster than getting started! So much time is waisted trying to wrestle with getting the app to end the failed session!! It just loads n loads even if u left the app to clear it even if u put airplane mode nothing clears it! Finally it randomly decides to end the session after secretary minutes have been lost!! >:(

For those who see “Oops…” error pop up. I would like to appreciate the customer care team that investigated my issue with the app. If you are keep seeing “Oops.. something happened” error pop up asking to check the Internet connection since 2022 summer: try to change your language settings to English. The dev team has not yet updated the app as of Dec. 2022 as such this is the only walk around available now.

Decent but not sufficient. It has decent functionality but it lacks good user experience. Here are few things I observed : 1. Search - type Fincastle,va - nothing happens for some time but with a lag it shows up Fincastle town. No EV charger there , click on stations nothing happens. Zoom out then it shows one charger and click on it then it shows up under the Stations. Why all this drama? Simply zoom out to the required level to show nearby chargers when we type something to search. 2. Login immediately instead of making us press the green arrow even though the app knows that there is Face ID registered. 3. Why force us to look into plans every time after logging into app? Many others but for brevity I stop here. Bottom line it’s a decent app it has most of the functionality needed but lacks User experience vision.

Unreliable App. This app is one of those that when you need it to work, you need it to work right then. And yet the last few times I’ve tried to use it I’ve had issues. It will log me out, lose my plan information, be unable to log in at all, etc. The wallet integration has never worked for me either so when the app doesn’t work I’m stuck at a charger unable to use it. Combine the app issues with the charger reliability problems and I’ve been using other charging systems despite having a plan through my car purchase.

App broken. I cannot accept the terms and conditions because the green “I accept” button doesn’t do anything. I’ve tried scrolling to the bottom of the T&C, skipping account creation, force killing the app. Every time it still shows the terms and conditions and a faded accept button that does nothing when I press it. This is so frustrating and makes the app completely useless. Update: I had to delete the app and reinstall it. The setup process is awful and painful. Makes me glad I have a Tesla and don’t have to deal with this. But also makes me sad because I’d like a new car that isn’t a Tesla.

STOP UPDATES WHEN THEY ARE NOT READY. The app isn’t ready for prime time to be released to public. Why did they roll it out? First of all, it forces you to update before you can use it. I was blindsided because I don’t do automatic updates. It should let users to decide if they want to update or not and still use the app. But no, you are forced to push that update button. Second, it went to update and nothing is downloading. No, it is not my signal because everything else is downloading and loading fine. Now I’m stuck at a charger, forced to use my CC at the regular rate while I paid for premium member with discount.

Do Not Download. The "Terms Of Use" are completely disagreeable; it litterally says they can sell your information, of which you NEED to submit multiile degrees of information such as phone number, name, and email adress, before being able to view said "tou". They claim to allow 3rd party links and features in their app that they presume no liability over. and they revoke APPLES APP store policy, the one that is required for uploaders to follow if they upload an app to apple? is that even legal? section 16 for reference. and it keeps getting more and more sketchy as you read it. honestly, the price i am being charged to Charge is CRAZY expensive and i thought being a member would have perks but it is WAY to sketchy and insecure.

Super Buggy. I get constant error notices with this app. For instance, I will swipe to start the charge and my car is charging, but then I get a message through the app telling me that the charging has stopped due to a problem. However, the car is still charging perfectly fine. Today I charged my car and now I’m getting text messages every five minutes (for the past hour) to give me my charging summary. These are super long texts and I have received four of them in just the time it’s taken me to write a review. I don’t know how to make them STOP! Every day it’s a new surprise from this app and not a good surprise.

Fixing the App is One Thing, fixing EA’s Network is Another. It’s nice that you improve the app every now and then, but c’mon, let’s put your resources into making the EA charging network reliable, available and convenient. At any given EA charging stations, 25 - 30% of the chargers are unavailable due to repair issues. That’s completely unacceptable. It’s also frustrating when on I-5 you stop to charge and 3 out of 10 charged are down when just across the street I’m staring jealously at the 125 Tesla Superchargers, most of which sit unused.

Don’t Maintain Their Chargers. Tried to charge at a public station for a road trip. Out of the four stations at this location, only two were operational. Reported the issue via the app. Came back through four days later and not only had they not fixed the two stations that were down, but a third station was also down. I waited for an hour while a car charged at the one working station only for it to stop working before I could charge. There’s no value in the electrify America partnership that came with my VW when there are only two charging locations within 100 miles of me and one of them is never fully functioning.

Not working if you have IPhone 6 Plus. Hi was using this app and I am a memener since last year but now I am unable to use this app anymore can’t even update the app because I have iso 12.5.1 on my iPhone 6 Plus and when I try to use the app it says me you need to do the update and when I update it’s says you can’t download because you need the iOS 13 to use or download this app and my phone has the latest 12.5.1 IOS version so useless for me to need to call every time when I need to do charge my car and give all details and wait despite of reposting this issue so many times to the customers service issue is not resolved yet please do fix the problem a soon as possible so we can use the app

Getting better. I recently (last week) did a round trip from SF to LA in my Ioniq 5. Charged to 90% at home before leaving and again in Atascadero on EA’s 350 watt unit. No waiting at all. Charged twice while in Thousand Oaks and only waited a few minutes on my first visit. On my way home I charged at EA’s Paso Robles location where there was no waiting. All the chargers were working and charged my car as expected. EA is not perfect but it operated fine for me on this trip.

Always being Laughed at by the Tesla owners!. I have an ID.4 with the 3 years of free charging. The joke is that it never works! I have automatic updates for both my phone and this app. I have confirmed that I have the newest update of both each time I am forced to call in to start a charge. I have also closed, forced closed, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, restarted the phone etc. Despite this I still get an error when I try to use the app to initiate charging. The app then requires you to call the help number to get a remote start. This works 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time you play frogger trying to find a station that will work, enter laughing Tesla owners. The worst part is you spend the first 10 minutes of each stop trying to get the aap/charger to work while jumping though all the hoops, and then you still have to 30 min to charge. If I could go to an alternative charger even if I had to pay I would.

Bad App reflects bad station experiences. Been using EA for 6 months now. Experience has gone from bad to worse with more and more out of service chargers at stations making it impossible to charge. That experience is mirrored in this app which often misreports availability of stations. And when I use the contact us in the app to try to report an issue it often fails to submit and shows an error. This app and the whole EA experience represents everything frustrating about owning an EV at this moment in time and I can’t imagine EA not going bankrupt in the next 5 years with this kind of service.

Disappointing. The app often doesn’t reflect reality on which chargers are available making the charging experience needlessly frustrating. They often show chargers that are down but not being used as available on the summary of how many are available. Chargers themselves often are also down and there’s no easy way to know what the situation is until you get there and can’t charge with a line of others trying to figure it out. Frankly embarrassing that they spend so much on infrastructure and can’t get the app to reflect what’s actually happening.

It’s SUPER electric. It’s a little hard to find the stations through the search, but they populate themselves most of the time. Chargers are usually operational occasionally one goes down, but there’s always others there pricing is very reasonable and if you get the plan and add money to the wallet in the app it’s super convenient because you have to worry about money when you go to charge your car. Electrify America doing it right

Needs Some Help. Most of the problems are on the home side. The app will lose the wifi connection with the charger on occasion and you have to do set up again. Of course this loses the history also. There is a place to put the physical address of the chargers in and when you hit save, you get an error message Oops it looks like you don’t have an internet connection try later. In fact no Internet connection was lost. A little work by IT could make the app a four or even five.

When the system works. There are a lot of times I pull up to a charge station, specifically at Pleasant Valley in Raleigh NC, and most of the chargers are offline. That’s a problem because there are only three stations in the area. With that being said; when the systems are working it’s very good and efficient. The app works fine and the membership plan is worth the money.

Expensive Product and App is not intuitive. First off. ElectrifyAmerica should only be used on road trips when you don't have a choice or u can’t make it to another fast charger in a city. There is no need to use them with so many other, better priced competitors. Second. The app update doesn’t tell you how to use the wallet feature first time. So after uploading the card to my wallet i was never told (on the add to wallet screen) I had to pay in app first before using it. They need to make their instructions more robust and more obvious how to use the apple wallet feature.

The app is pretty good. It is pretty easy to plug-in and open the app and swipe to start charging. It takes maybe 30 seconds to a minute to get out of the car plug-in and swipe to start charging. I like seeing the history of my charging in the app and refer to it often. Whenever I need a really fast charging and an app that works well, I have Electrify America

Display Time Left to Charge?. Thanks for the recent update identifying what chargers are out of service. That helps a lot! In addition to that, can you all show how much time is left on he current charge? Sometimes all stations are full and it’s a bit awkward pulling up asking how long or trying to peek over at someone’s machine. Displaying how much time is left til finished would be much more efficient so we can decide whether to stay or go to the next destination.

Charger NOT.. In the 6 years I’ve been driving electric and dealing with charger service not working, EA has been at the bottom as far as reliability of a working facility. The one I really on the most is 7 miles from my house and only has two that for the most part can be counted on and the third seldom. This is in light of the fact that there is a changing station that’s less than fifty yards from my house that was installed 3 years ago and has yet to be powered up. There was always an excuse as to why BUT now they are using old excuses. I was thinking of making a road trip but now I’m not.

Charging. I have a Kia niro ev and I have been to these chargers every now and then during the month a few times and love how fast they r and not to bad in price but could be a little cheaper but when traveling I think it’s great they r about 100 miles or so in between each other on the highways so there won’t be a reason to run out of electric on your battery thank god for these I hope they get more with more and more people getting electric cars

Zion Crossroads Sheets EA Station. Chargers worked well with close to advertised speed. I do wish the charging cords and parking spaces could be set up a little differently. Basically the cords are a bit too short causing customers to need to back up very close to the chargers themselves. Also each charger has 2 plugs but given the limited parking. It is really only possible for customers to use one of the 2 plugs on each charger.

Constant banner notification. Can't get the banner on the bottom of my screen to go away notifying me that EA app works with bluetooth devices. Not using the app and turning off all notifications doesn't make a difference. This is after going to FL Mall a few days ago (there's only ONE charger near Orlando, an area with MILLIONS of people) and trying to charge when half the chargers don't work and you're vying for a spot against Walmart delivery vans. Some guy was freaking out about missing his cruise. In other words, EA non-reliability has made for dangerous situations in some places. We got three years FREE CHARGING with EA and since I've NEVER BEEN ABLE TO USE IT, I deleted the app and will continue to charge at home. What a joke.

Updated: Finally a long-standing app issue appears fixed. Working pretty well now. No major app problems to speak of. Also I have not encountered any dispensers that can’t find my account number from an NFC tap as of late. This used to be a problem. Background: I noticed that a long-standing issue where my settings and favorites were deleted whenever the app was fully closed, or after a short period of inactivity was fixed. Going to watch but this was a major point of annoyance and it is good to see they finally addressed it. Update: Nearly a week of use and the app is indeed fixed. Favorites are saved and are persistent when the app is stopped or is pushed out of memory.

No longer working “sad face”. Had no issues up till this past week. Everytime I open the app it asks if I drive an EV. Sometimes my account loads with my information, other times it’s completely wiped - no car info, payment plan, credit card etc. The stations are shown but the individual chargers don’t pop up so I can’t swipe to charge and of course “tap to pay” is 90% unavailable. I have read there is an issue with the app on T-Mobile phones…my husband had the same exact issue last week with his account and his EV. He had to install a VPN to get it to work. Hopefully this is resolved on the next update.

A very bad start!. Today, I attempted my first EA charging experience. I have used ‘ChargePoint’ extensively in the past several years & they are SUPERIOR to this useless App! The only charging point close enough to me is at a Target location. All 4 DC ports were listed as “available”! After many repeated & unsuccessful attempts in under the extreme hot sun, watching others also experiencing problems, a guy passing by informed us that none of them have worked in months!!!!! Worse, this usless app does not even allow to ‘report a problem’!!! Electrify America: You are a DC charge company, the most advanced charging technology to date but your lack of management and customer service is more like 19th century era!!!!

The worst app and stations. More than half of the Electrify America stations have broken card readers, so you’re required to use their app. Unfortunately, every time I try to make an account, it reads: “There was an error submitting your details. Please try again later.” Well here’s to 4 months “later”. No way to make a login via the website, you’re just redirected to the app. Which doesn’t work. So I can’t pay with card or chip reader, but I also can’t make an account? Does the company even want to exist? Don’t waste your time trying to plug in with this company, you’re better off waiting on a ChargePoint or Volta tap. There’s a serious reason they’re always “available”.

Worked, until it didn’t.. App worked well at first with locating charging stations and tapping card within mobile wallet to initiate charging. Now the app nor wallet membership card work reliably. Often get “payment declined” and a EA phone rep has to assist. The app also shows stations that are available as “in use” and stations that are in use as “available”. This doesn’t help because if you want to swipe to initiate charging from within the app you can only do so at stations that are showing “available” within the app. The app and corresponding chargers need more reliability built in.

Location on map doesn’t always work. I searched for nearby locations. It said none found. I then changed the location to where I knew there was one. It found one just 21 miles away. They need to allow users to indicate distance from home like every other location app. I see no way to integrate with Apple Maps or Google maps so I can locate stations on my route. I just now took delivery of the Lucid Air. It will search for nearby charging stations, but there is no way to restrict to Electrify America chargers only. This is important to me as I get 3 years of free charging at EA, and I know they have rapid charging for 300 miles of range in 20 minutes.

In three years they’ve moved from worst to… slightly better.. EAs app started off EVen worse than their card readers, slow onscreen UI, and short, stiff cables. It has gotten better, but I DCFC twice per day, and have been using this app daily for months. No updates, phone acts normal, but suddenly my saved password is invalid and the reset process fails. Card reader is of course out of order on the only CHAdeMO plug out of eight, but telephone support staff got me charging again, seeing no issues with my account.

So far so bad. My car came with 3 year free subscription to Electrify America but the experience has been pretty poor. First of all, there aren’t many locations here in Los Angeles. Second of all, A LOT of them are out of order. In the beginning (a few years ago), the customer service was more responsive. Chargers were usually back in service soon after reporting the issue. But lately the amount of issues seems too overwhelming for them. The charging machines need to be upgraded as more people are buying an ev. The machines don’t seem capable of their current working load. Sometimes people are fighting over a charging machine. It’s been crazy to say the least.

Avoid this. I have been using this app since October 2021, and it has not been updated since that time. It needs some stability improvements and some other things. The app itself is very difficult when there is a problem in the box. I have had an electrify America box for nearly 2 years and I can tell you that the Wi-Fi does not work seamlessly. The app tells me that we can charge without Wi-Fi, but that is not so. Electrify America has good customer service, but when you’re dealing with a box, that is not responding, there isn’t much that even good customer service can do. Even they seem frustrated at the limitations of this app.

Stations are not reliable. Since the end of June I’ve been in Western Michigan where there are few EA stations. I’ve been using ChargePoint stations and have found them very reliable. Individual stations are seldom not working—actually none have been down when I needed a charge. Today, I stopped at a fast station in Lansing. One of the stations was out of order (3). Another stopped charging after 10 minutes (4). It took over 5 minutes to get it going again. The rate was 50-90, well under the advertised 350.

No status at full map view now. Really EA?. The latest update removes “Station Full” and “Coming Soon” labels at the full map view. Whomever decided to implement this change is worsening the EA customer experience. The filters still work, and tapping on a station reveals its status. But this map view change makes it much more difficult to gauge station effectiveness at a glance. It’s a terrible UI change that almost feels like EA is trying to hide their station availability problems and ongoing inability to commission “Coming Soon” stations in a timely manner. EA, you’re going to get more angry customer calls by misleading EV owners to full and unopened stations with this latest update.

Chargers rarely work. Horrible experiences at your chargers! More often than not they don’t work. Connection issues / time out errors...complete waste of time. Serious issues with reliability. Have called customer service and heard comments like…”yeah that machine hasn’t been working for the past few WEEKS”! Are you kidding me? You guys need to get your stuff together or customers will go elsewhere. The ONLY reason I had continued to try to use your chargers is we got free charging for a period of time when we bought our car. Meaningless benefit when your machines don’t work! And your app location finder / map is horrible!

Tons of bugs. App has tons of bugs. Pretty disappointing considering how much money this company is spending to spread their EV charging network. First off when you open the app and the pop-up message asks if you own or regularly drive an EV, the “yes” butting doesn’t work. You can press the “no” button and it’ll go away. More importantly, when you try to add a plan to your account (free or paid) after you enter your CC info the screen that has you set your auto-reload threshold is also broken. No matter what you set your reload amount to, the green “go” button doesn’t work at all. I can’t use their chargers with my account until this bug is fixed in the app. If tried it on 3 different phones, on cell and WiFi networks, and with multiple different credit cards. Even tried calling their customer assistance number and the lady told me it was probably just a low cell signal issue… Very disappointed!

App is fine but they are often out of service. Good concept, but beyond giving “free charging” for 1-2 years creates way too much demand for what they have available. Just as importantly, they are out of service too often. As I write this, one nearby station has 2 of 4 out of service, another that I’m waiting has 3 of 6 out of service and the other has 2 of 6 out. Waits at each one. They need to build out more and in the meantime, get them online. Many of the above have been this way for at least a week

Ok network, app is buggy. EA has done a good job of building out their fast charging network and I’ve usually found that their chargers work well…when they work. This past trip only 2 of the 4 chargers at the location I used were working. No way to report broken/slow chargers through the app. The 150kw station that did work only charged at 20kw for most of the session. The app requires me to log in again EVERY time I open it. Could be so much better.
