Beam - Escooter Sharing Comments & Reviews 2026

Quick and Easy!. Great app. Self explanatory and the scooters were so fun to use!

Shady business. Seem to have recently reduced the maximum speed of scooters, regardless or whether it’s day or night, and yet still charge the same fee. Slower scooters means it takes more time to get to your destination, thus charging you more money.

Must park in designated spots, few and far between. Recently Beam has updated their policy to require me to park in designated spots. The problem is that these spots are hard to find and they’re far apart. So now I need to cross a major road and walk 10 mins to get back home. What’s the point of a scooter if I can’t drop it off conveniently?

Easy to use. Quick to set up and easy to use. Affordable transportation, especially if you live far from the metro or bus stop. Fair prices, they don’t steal your money if their equipment doesn’t work either. If your ride is less than 30 seconds, they’ll ask what went wrong and charge you 0tl

Is very good. It’s s very good and perfect

Korea. 100% worth the buy

Fun, practical, and reasonably priced. Scooters are fun to ride and the app is very intuitive. Looking forward to seeing more of these scooters — it’s great to have an viable, alternative form of transportation.

Easy ride!. Easy to register, easy to ride!

Easiest way to go around. Easiest way to go around simple and cheap

Scooter. I love it easy to use

A little expensive but good from time to time. The price is a bit much for me, but it’s good to use from time to time when I’m running late

Love these scooters!. Quick to start easy to use, great way to get somewhere in a hurry

Good. Enjoying our weekend with Beam rides around the community park!

First time using. First time using and it was a great experience but was shocked about the price. For about 10 minutes worth it was about 10RM! Nonetheless, it saved a lot of walking time for us!

Easy the best scooter provider in Auckland. The ONLY scooter that gets up Auckland’s hills

Beam. Thank you

Easy. Easy

This app for iphone is not working. The app for iPhone version is not working it got stuck. I tried to contact the developer from app store. The page linked says 404 error.

Unable to detect actual location, lock the bile in the middle of ride. The app has a lousy location detection. The scooters were locked when we are not even at no ride area. Wasted time and money

Super fun and convenient!. Woohoo! Good price too

Zroom zroom, so much fun. It’s quite safe and powerful! And fun! Recommended!

Does not work for people not from Korea. I see these scooters everywhere. I would rent one but I do not have a Korean Driver’s License. I have a license from the States. So, don’t bother downloading this app. I notice Lime Scooters around. So I use them. They are more international and better for non Koreans I guess.

Trip wouldn’t end. When I went to end my 10 minute trip it did not show an active ride, after 10 minutes of idle activity it charged me for for 20 minutes.

Great. Very happy customer

Nice but. They are worth it but just don’t expect to go as fast as the should be. Also some times after I stop and go again I have to peddle for longer than I should for it to kick into gear

Worthless in Kuala Lumpur. With all the restricted areas, beam scooters are functionally useless in Kuala Lumpur. I love scooters. I love using them to travel around. I hate when the app strands me in a restricted zone, with no nearby parking spots, and then charges $50 RM. Beware—you will be stranded in restricted islands using this app. Never again. Sorry I downloaded this app. Really a waste of time. Should’ve just called a Grab.

App hard to see in bright sunshine. App hard to see in bright sunshine

Prince Got You. Smooth ride

Korea 2023. So much fun, way better than a taxi

Doesn’t accept Amex. Garbage app keeps showing “fail to process, please try again later” I had to contact customer support to find out that they don’t accept Amex. Wasted so much of my time.

New experience. It’s really amazing

Safest of e-scooters. I find Beam to be the safest of the rental e-scooters. They don’t start without a good push and don’t accelerate too quickly. The app is in English as well. Highly recommend of the choices available.

Great Ride. Expensive too much

Wonderful. It was a nice experience to explore the city with low price

So rude customer service. I got rejected of my $1 unsatisfied refund asking. I was about to clash from unexpected slow down. Because of wrong gps detection. I’m still so angry. The cs staff treated as a block customer. The account deletion doesn’t work well. It will never happen again I use this service.

Good ride. It was a good ride as first timer, thanks

App too slow. It is slow to start and to end the route

Very easy and great experience. Súper nice

Wasting TIME unlock to take a photo. I feel it’s pretty wasting my time to take a photo of it to make sure where it locked and located. The problem is that when I lock it, the apps gets slower than unlock it and add do ride time. I think it’s unfair. I have been experiencing frozen screens on my phone many times especially when I try to unlock it. And takes another time to take a photo. The point of using this service is to cut down my time but it isn’t. Please make this apps more smoothly without having a frozen screen which makes me turn off the apps.

The best scooter rental in Antalya. I use three scooter rentals in my city of Antalya Turkey and Beam is by far the best. They have the least problems with the apps or the scooters and no hidden fees. The other companies were often charge if they don’t like the way you parked etc. Beam has always been hassle free!

Beam scooter. Didn’t come with a helmet

Pricey rates. The bikes are there, but their rates are quite pricey in Brisbane. Many cities have similar services as a fraction of the cost for a typical 30-40 min commute.

Good Service. It’s a really good service. The map could use a little work... needs more landmarks or something to orientate you. There’s nothing to indicate which direction the scooter that’s only a block away is. Adding north or a direction cone or something would be nice. Once you find a scooter it’s an awesome and fun way to get around town

The worst app ever. I be never met such a scam app like this. unable to move car, unable to connect Bluetooth but already paid money before I use it… it’s such a scam.

Speed. In Darwin, they go very slow, they need to match other states and go faster

Horrible. Terrible app. Only available certain hours of the day and in general really hard to use. If anything else in your area is available use that. Really really bad.

Broken UI ruins app. Beam recently came to Indonesia where I am. OVO is a payment option, however the UI is broken so it can’t be used. When you try to enter your OVO number, the keypad to enter the number blocks half the screen, making it impossible to click submit. This happens on both 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max

Life saver. Love this scooter in Korea ! The only one I know that excepts us phones

Great ride. Easy simple fast and safe.

Not a fan. Scooters were slow compared to every other scooter service, no go zones were cumbersome and annoying

Seamless experience - and super fun!!!. I regularly walk around Baragaroo - it's so peaceful and traffic-free of a night, but couldn't resist when a BEAM bike was perched against a rock near the sandstone Harbourside pool. I took it for a spin round the the Hill, then up near the old Palisades and Lord Nelson hotels and round to the Wharf theatre and back again. I think I am going to get addicted !!

Waste of money. My best friend thought it would be a good idea to hire one each, well at first it charged us both $15 dollars each twice totally up to $30 each then keep saying we were out of bounds and had to stop or slow down which cost $0,65 each time you stop, and by the end of my trip it cost me $40 for less than an hour and the invoice doesn’t spilt up the cost to identify why you’ve spent that much money, I would give it 0 stars if I could but I can’t, and I wish I could get a refund on the extra money they charged me for.

Hobart Scooter Experience.. A+. One of the best, if not the best way to get about this town, or any based on my experience with this service. App is great, service is awesome and the issues with usability are always resolved quickly. Would recommend 100% for people wanting to use this on a whim.

Great but too expensive. Loved it and it’s so good to have it in our area. But… $1 to unlock and 45 cent per minute is a big deterrent from using it again. My husband and I took one out each for 6 minutes and it cost us almost $13! We only too it to the end of the street and back again because of this (we were going to ride to the foreshore). Please look at value for money for this as it’s an awesome concept. Perhaps charge per KM or reduce cost substantially

Poor zoning. Cant even ride to biggest uni in sydney in the cbd exclusion zone should be widened to Camperdown area so that you can utelise bikes in whole cbd area and expand when more are available as is sits i wont use again as locked up on me in cbd and tries charging you $1 for parking on footpaths where others like lime never do so free parking for a e-bike is a joke lol as a citizen never once been charged to park my bike anywhere iv ever wanted growing up and think that its a absolute joke to try and charge the public for a free service u charge us to use it this covers your fees to collect and charge your transportation devices WONT USE AGAIN WILL ONLY USE LIME TO YOU FIX THIS DONT TRY AND RIP OFF THE PUBLIC!!!

Absolutely terrible experience. I was riding around Cairns and the scooter would randomly stop working. I later found out that there’s no-go zones that the Cairns “please read before using” text did NOT talk about. I also rode past 3 different parking areas which I was right next to according to my gps, however I could not see any of them, so I had to pay the $18 parking fine or be late to my appointment. Definitely not a service you want to use if you want to get to different places quickly and you have limited time for parking.

Great customer service, great rides. I love catching beams when I’m working or holidaying remote - so fun and convenient. I had an issue tonight where it wouldn’t let me end the trip, and was expecting to have to go through a whole ordeal like you would if you had an issue with Uber etc. Instead, I was able to connect with a real person over the phone and he immediately ended my trip for me and was super helpful and kind. Shout out to David! You’re the best

Good service but. They work well and are a good idea but, $10 is way to much for a short ride. The price seems a bit off. It cost me $5 when I went to test it out for the first time, a quick ride up and down the street and then I just did a ride home from work and parked it in a parking spot, $10. I won’t be using them again for a while so that 50c isn’t a real incentive. I think that a lot of people will be like me, use it once or twice to test it out and then never again. TLDR it works well but it’s overpriced, making it $5-6 for 30mins and $1 off directly for good parking would make this a long term success rather than a novelty for about 2 weeks

Changed my life. Getting around before beam was utterly impossible. Everything was full, busy, or just plain unhelpful! But beam came along and changed everything. With the revolutionary way they look at electric bikes and scooters beam was able to turn a dwindling market into a bustling ecosystem. Here’s to you, Beam!

Easy to use and find. Recent increase in the monthly subscription seems to have come with more bikes and a better ratio of ones that actually work. App often crashes during unlock, so need to force close and start it again. Overall they’re decent bikes at a reasonable price.

Rip off. Half of our scooters were flat and they still charged us. While we were waiting for everyone else to get connected we tried pausing our trip and it still charged us. We got charged up to $14 and we didn’t get anywhere, they ended up exactly where we found them, and we didn’t use it for even 10 minutes. We were all completely ripped off. We spent $14 just to figure out that the scooters were dead and we couldn’t even activate them.

Just the most fun way to see the city. It is my husband an I’s first time to Adelaide. We came on a holiday and we saw people riding these scooters. Of course we had to try and this has been honestly the most fun thing I have done in a long time! We have been able to see like 5 times as much of the city than we thought we would have been able to. Thank you so much!

Good scooters, bad app. The app makes it impossible to share feedback after a ride. The keyboard covers the Share Feedback button and its not possible to scroll down and click it. Also the battery/range prediction is terribly inaccurate and the location feature is very inaccurate. The scooters are great when they work and aren’t incorrectly telling you you’re on a footpath or just randomly running out of battery half way around a roundabout. 🛴

Okay but expensive. Used the app. Straight forward and everything worked. My wife and I hired out two scooters together and travelled about 500 metres - cost us $9.98. We thought it was a bit excessive but got us to point A to B without a fuss. We are happy to have tried it but wouldn’t try it again due to the cost

Add Apple Pay. Please add Apple Pay as payment option. I use your orange competitor because they have Apple Pay available as a payment option. For security I don’t have my debit card switched on in my banking app, so to ride with you I have to manually unlock my card each time. Apple Pay as a payment option would mean I didn’t need to do that.

Best public transport i rekon. Always use beam when am on foot! One of the best options of getting around without relying on yah legs or public transport! Always room for improvement though, but othaer than that its a winner in my book, also takes the top spot when it comes to beams competitors in my opinion :)

Daylight robbery costs. Got a shock when they charged $40 for 2 scooters over 22 mins at Cairns central. I thought there was a large deposit, but apparently it was their dynamic pricing (so many free ones parked at the dock so I don’t understand how it’s so expensive). I feel cheated because the pricing and instructions are not clear or transparent enough. Could have taken a cab or walked and it would cost nothing or less than half the fare. Pretty ridiculous prices, would not use again. What’s worse, out of the 20 mins, we only really rode for 10 mins or less since most of the journey was no ride zone. Wouldn’t recommend unless there are no cabs or other alternatives.

So Bad. Used Beam in Port Douglas, only to find out that they hit you with a $25 charge to even unlock the scooter. Tried to start a group ride, didn’t work. Billed $25. Started a group ride. Billed $50 (when it should have counted the $25 from before). Half way thru the ride it decided to lock one of the two scooters and refused to unlock it. I had to drag the locked scooter 3 blocks in 32 degree heat to then be told that I was not in a parking zone (despite literally staring at the ‘Beam e-scooter parking zone sign and the line of scooters parked under it). Tried support in the app, which phone a call centre who hung up on me. Tried the call again and was informed that the only help is via in-app feedback, which doesn’t appear to be monitored in anything close to real time and replies come via email. Zero stars if I could.

Beam helmets would have just saved the guy who had a horrific head injury.. Just saw a guy in a different helmet split his skull open, on my way into Brisbane City on a Beam. The rear head protection on the purple Beam helmet would have prevented what happened. We really hope he makes it! And his head is ok. Do not use one of these without a full skull helmet.

First Experience. Instructions were easy to follow, scooter super easy to operate. As a tourist in a new city, scooter and app really lacking synchronicity of google maps, with no function to search destination that I could find. Phone holder for hands free GPS purposes would be really handy. 3 day pass would have been better utilised by myself and partner as time really got away on us haha.

The best of their division.. Beam is the best in their class. The scooters are always being updated with new models that feature the best equipment from powerful motors to wireless charging for your phones and on the latest model. Instead of wasting their older models they add on new features like seats to really get the full life out of them which I find quite economical. While they do have their own issues in comparison to other companies they’re quick to take the problem scooters offline, give you a refund for your trip if you had an issue and their call center is always helpful in a pinch. Their app was quite outdated until recently. The new update has brought easier user interface. My 2 suggestions to change and/or a word of advice to give is that every time you need to update your payment method they put a $15 temporary charge on the card and while the money does get returned after a while it’s always a pain to change methods. The second is if your card doesn’t have the correct funds by the end of the trip their is no button to press in trip history to clear the failed payment which can lead to big delays if you’re in a rush.

Looks like stealing money.. Hi Beam, I wouldn’t wanted to review this but as your customer service talked rude and there is no reply from email as well so i have to tell here, I booked 2 scooters in my app on easter Saturday in Brisbane, we used it for max 45 minutes, than I pressed finish ride in my app, app got a white screen but didn’t finish my ride, i tried to finish ride in app more than 10 times but it always got stuck in white screen and nothing happened, I called your customer care 3 time, they said wait for 10 mins, it will automatically finish it, i parked at your safety 0.50$ zone, and waited but nothing happened, i went to dinner after thinking it will close automatically, but it charged me for more than 2 hours, it was deducting my money already while standing on street. Because of poor customer service nobody responded my complaint and yet to refund the money they took due to app fault. You have great service but things like this when not sorted out gives us a scam vibe, I don’t want any other person happening same from you.

So expensive, always faulty.. I unlocked a beam bike yesterday to discover it was faulty, when I ended my trip I was still charged around about $3, never refunded despite reporting. Bikes I’ve ridden so far are very difficult to pedal and control, I ride often with my dog so having a bike that’s easy to control and pedal (without the bike clicking and screeching) really would help ride with my bike trained dog. Fares are very expensive. To ride from ocean st down to Bondi Beach is $15 alone. They should not be charging as much as they do for the product which is so often under average quality. Would appreciate if staff at beam would work to ensure that the bikes actually did what they were supposed to and provided a cost effective membership. As a student, being charged upwards of $10-$15 every ride (only about 1km) is so ridiculous and unaffordable.

Issues deleting profile. I’m trying to delete my beam account. When I open the app to do this via my Profile, I receive the message “we don’t service your area.” Which is correct - I moved from a location with beam to a location without it - hence why I want to close my account. But this message on the app prevents me from accessing my profile to close my account. There should be other ways to delete your account. Poor form from beam. If you move away from a beam serviced area delete your account before you leave otherwise it will be a nightmare for you.

Best out of 4. Had tried a company in Europe, 1 in Sydney & 1 another in Brisbane …Beam though was by far the most convenient, it’s got both a Phone holder AND a bottle holder! So easy to sign up…quick set up, simple use of getting the scooter going and the Beam App. Super stable and the smoothest ride out of the 4 different companies. Word of warning for a person whose never used an electric scooter of any type before though - these are super quick & super responsive, great if you’re in a hurry - would’ve scared me if it was my first use of electric.

EBikes in Brisbane are no good. Rode one at lunch - south bank to valley and back - I was a daily citycycle user and these are an inferior experience in my opinion: * the eBikes are so heavy even with pedal assist they seem slower than a citycycle (which is saying something as those things are also heavy AF) * the one I got coming back had shot brakes (front and back) and I didn't realise until I was coming down Thorton St due to the engine braking (next point) and so nearly crashed it down Thorton Street - had to swap it for a third bike (reported it as faulty via the app) - * as soon as you stop pedaling it feels like the engine brakes against you - so didn't result in any faster or less effort than using a pushie the "parking zones" were impossible to pinpoint as your location (blue dot) on the app map keeps jumping around so I couldn't return it to a parking zone for the extra $0.50 credit * at one point near the valley the chinatown area and mall is a "no go" zone which meant even though I was near it - but not in it - the bike brakes and suddently stopped - I got a text telling me the leave the no go zone even though I wasn't in it Pretty poor experience, I'll cancel my monthly sub and stick to my pushie

Easy to sign up and fun to ride. Scooters are fun to ride and two brakes made me feel safe. No photo ID required on sign up so I feel my personal data is safe. was easy to download and best of all got my unlock few refunded because someone used the scooter within the hour from where I parked it and got $5 free credits for signing up.

Horrible Experience. Don’t even bother with them! They will steal your money! Their system runs smoothly for you to login and to take your payment details and then they refuse to disconnect after your ride! They will keep it on for as long as they can to milk you as much as they can! In my case they kept it connected for 1 hour and 20 minutes and took $34 dollars even after telling me in their fake DMs that if I couldn’t disconnect they would do it in 10 minutes! My take; this company is using con ways to make money from innocent people trying to ride their scooters! DO NOT LOGIN unless you want to be conned and you will be!

Best fun in ages. I was in Canberra for a day trip and saw one of these scooters and decided to give it a spin. It was easy to set up and although it took some time once I got the hang of it I was having a blast. My only issue is the map not moving with the GPS signal meaning I had to often manually scroll it. Overall I would recommend the experience and will definitely go for more rides in the future

Remove the subscription option.. It is very hard for us to use now so expensive, i was using beam daily but now need to stop using because it is expensive, and i am student, they have remove the monthly, weekly subscription which was really good for me and other international student. Hope they gonna bring that subscription option back…

Amazing. Scrolling through this apps reviews, you will see dumb people saying 1 star. This app is amazing! The scooters function perfectly fine, the app is fine, and payment has no flaws. The only thing wrong is how many instructions and confirmation steps there are. Other than that, this app is perfectly fine!

Grant. I just tried it for the first time. It asked for my email and then my screen locked on to the start app showing where bikes are. I couldn’t get out of the app for 10 minutes trying everything. Then I turned it off and back on and tried to put my passcode in 2 times and noticed that the language had changed to Chinese above the numbers. Turned off again and back on and this time I was able to sign back in. I called Apple Care and was told it was very suspect be careful I am Australian.

Useless. This is huge Chinese rich man money laundry system e-bikes yes the one you see everywhere dumped careless bicycles, well I’m not going to be part of this, Today total one and half hour ride, cost me more than 50 dollar + 15 dollar universal pass + 5 dollar in first register (I don’t know what is it)I can’t even see in my pay history. There was no helmet on bike, being charged for no helmet return, Locking my bike option still charges you money, but why? Why I am paying something that I don’t use it’s locked and I am having my lunch somewhere, what is the mobility or any benefits for this bike then? End your trip and go find another bike between food break even you find one there is no helmet so what is all about, I tell you… Chinese money laundry system as e-bike!

Could not end trip because I had walked away from them on their scooter. app wasn’t allowing me to end my trip which ended up costing me extra money. I tried to contact support but it would not let me. The trip should have ended at 6 minutes but because I had walked down the path and let them stay and ride for 5 minutes. I had to walk back all the way to end the ride. A lot of fun even though the scooters need some fixing but it’s costed me more than double I had wanted to spend. Dorathy

Bad. Once we got the Scooter (it was our first time riding) it took us 5 minutes to fight Figure out how to get all the stuff ready (which they charged us for) then once I was riding it was good until it stopped it was flat and didn’t tell us we then had to take it back to a proper parking bay but when there flat they are super heavy and don’t move once we finally got it back after 10 minutes it charged us 30 dollars when we didn’t even get to ride it I won’t be using this again I’ll be trying the orange ones

Awesome idea for Townsville. I came up from Brisbane for a 3 day personal break. Didn’t make any plans. Didn’t even know what public transport they had besides UberX. Being on my own, beam is an affordable and safe way of getting around in safe, little traffic Townsville. And beam uses Segway scooters too which are far better than the orange ones you see around the city.

Simply too expensive. I understand as a business you have to make a profit. But if it is not possible to reasonably decrease the prices then this Service is not for me. It is charged by time so you pay for waiting at traffic lights, I did a 30 minute ride and it cost me 15 dollars, it would have heen a 10 minute ride in a cab and wouldve cost the same price and I wouldnt have had to ride myself. Or $1.30 on public transport. The app doesnt show you how much money you owe until you complete the ride so you can just let it build up without realising. I was thinking, oh an ebike service, it must be really cheap because I dont need a driver or half the fuel cost or price of a car. I was very wrong. It costs the same to ride this as it does to pay someone to drive me around.

Was good at the start but now the scooters are faulty. So, I had a fault with the geo location. I was in a valid area but the alarm was going off. Ok no big issue. But yesterday was a joke! Hopped on a scooter, got it started went to take off and screen was blank. So, I hopped on another and this time I couldn’t unlock the helmet. So, I hopped on another scooter, got it started, plenty of battery but max speed was 6km per hour yet my girlfriend was 15 to 17km per hour. So I got off and said I will never use Beam again. Guys! Come on, you are not cheap, almost the same price as an Ola or Uber for two people. So, maintain your scooters or quit.

Lake Burley Griffin. What a great way to travel around the lake in Canberra. Scooter & helmet was clean, bell worked as did phone cradle. Had enough power to travel up and over the bridges and the geo-fencing (for changing speed zones) had no issue. Would certainly hire again. But I must say, at $21 for 30mins, not cheap. It would have cost my wife and I $80 for the hour.

No group option. Set up account over breakfast, added payment details, pressed start ride to see what other info it may want (eg ID). Asked if I wanted to start a group ride. Closed app until we went outside the hotel half an hour later. Went out, found scooters, no option to start a group ride. Partner called them. They sounded surprised the option had been removed. End result is 3 disappointed kids. App is also tedious in requiring you to swipe through all warnings/notices etc even if you did the same thing 20 seconds earlier.

Beware of this company - they trick you. I signed up for a weekly pass while in Hobart. But unless you cancel the payment, they keep charging you every week!!!! The weekly payment doesn’t show up anywhere in their app either, only on your bank statement. They also make it difficult to find where to cancel your payment. I don’t believe this is an accident but deliberately designed this way. Most people use beam as tourists so a weekly pass would be expected to be 1 payment not a payment forever more. I am so disappointed in the company that they try and take money from people for nothing.

Loads of fun. The ride was loooooaaaaadddddsds of fun… makes you feel like a big kid again, but be careful in doing it in Canberra in winter without gloves on. Your hands freeze to icicles! Recommend going on the track near the wetlands near Kingston and getting a 3 day pass and you get 2 hours every day for 3 days. If you don’t get the pass you get about 20 minutes for one day for the same price. Pretty easy maths if you will use it for more than 20 mins. Funny it’s not on any of the tourist guides I saw.

Dumbest app ever. Signed up easy, got around OK, then app failed to end trip... took 5mins to finally end. This happened several times and I was billed excessively in two cases by an extra half hour each time! App then wouldn’t find ride. Was stuck in a trip with 0:00 time showing. Nothing could get it out of this state except for hitting logout. Big mistake! Why? Because it’s IMPOSSIBLE to log back in. You can only sign up as a new user again with different credentials which I couldn’t be Fd to do by that stage so walked off. App service requests disappear into the ether. Three days of attempted scootering with varied success. Sort your selves out before you release this stuff... another agile development story no doubt. Users are not your bug testers!

All about profit.. They reduce your speed in areas, but keep the full charge for the ride…they will claim it’s because it is about the ‘safety’, yet if it really was, there would be a reduction when they reduce your speed, I mean, you get charged for how long you hire the scooter right? Deleted, waste of my money.

Easy and friendly to use!. My first city scooter experience was great! Met the staff Jason around Southbank Parklands who’s so nice to show me how to use it properly and safely; the app downloading was much quicker than the other brand, also easier to use. I’m doing it again next time when I come to Brisbane CBD and I’m gonna ride it along the river! 🤩

Dodgy app, dodgy gps. App has several problems, which become very annoying if you are relying on Beam for commutes. The first being that the app often doesn’t acknowledge that you have an internet connection, despite other apps working fine. This means you are delayed leaving. The second issue is that the app sometimes thinks you are in a no-go zone when you are well beyond the edge of it, resulting in a loss of power and you having to drag the scooter/bike a few hundred metres down the road. You usually need to close the app and restart it for it to refresh. The third issue is that the app rarely works when unlocking bicycles. Bicycles are faster and more comfortable so you might be inclined to walk a little extra to get to a bike instead of a scooter. But then the unlock just doesn’t work, the app either loading indefinitely or saying it has unlocked the bike without actually having unlocked it. CHARGING YOU FOR MINUTES THAT YOU CANT USE. Finally the scooters and bikes themselves sometimes lock their wheels at random while you are travelling. Even when you are not near a no-go zone. This is not only frustrating but also dangerous.

Bikes with no helmet are a locking nightmare. I don’t mind riding a bike without a helmet sometimes, however at the end of the ride the app keeps asking you to check that a helmet is attached. Surely it should recognise that you never unlocked a helmet to begin with, because no helmet was even attached when you unlocked the bike? The app doesn’t let you click “Continue” until you’ve clicked the “Check Again” button 5 times, likely as a way to stop people from stealing helmets, but very frustrating when you never unlocked a helmet to begin with.

Not a get-away. The hardware is great especially the new bikes but the software lets the team down. Freezing and just being slow guarantees that beam will never be a get-away vehicle option. The app freezes and stops and starts and the only solution is to delete and reload. The cops are almost at our heels as we accelerate but we are in a 12 km zone so the jacks are breathing down our necks. Looks like we be doin a stretch, thanks crappy app!

Mo’ functions Mo’ obstacles. Overall I’m grateful for the app and the service, and the quality of the vehicles and their maintenance. The app has lately seen a lot of changes that, for long time users can cause a slightly janky adjustment to the new UI but it’s largely intuitive. The update before this saw the app really struggling to engage the function to take a photo of the freshly parked vehicle, sometimes taking minutes. The new version seems to have fixed this issue but has twice today signed out my account and identified me as being in a different country. These are obviously teething issues as the app evolves to become an overall better experience but these are also the things that for me keep it from being a 5 star

overcharged bank account. I will update this review to 5 stars if my overcharging issue is resolved. Hired a few times and the scooters themselves and the application are great, but my total hire charges for past 2 days totalled $52 yet my bank account has been charged a total of $89 in transactions. Not sure if it’s related to when I did a group hire of two scooters and the second scooter locked in the slow zone and refused to unlock when pushing it back to central area. brake was locked on and had to push 1-2KMs with great difficulty to end the hire timer. was then able to get second person to install the app and we hired each scooter individually and charged individually then they worked flawlessly for the next hour. If I can just get my excess charges refunded I would be 5 stars happy with the whole service. Submitted two help requests inside the app itself, first one when the scooter refused to unlock after locking and the second one after seeing excess charges to my bank account

RM6 credit to pass the test. But you can never pass the test! Verified with multiple users—each answer confirms that it’s correct, but each test registers as failed upon completion. So they never have to give you the RM6. C’mon Beam, play fair.

So fun and easy!. Seamless experience!

Good. Good

Fun. More expensive than a limousine

Awesome. I could not find live direction option on the app. It would be nice to have one since there are places we can’t drive on and regular maps don’t show them. Other than that 👍

DO NOT RENT. Mine locked after 30 seconds despite being in the correct zone. I couldn’t get money back either.

Worked great so far.. Worked great so far.

:(. Walked 1km to get scooter and it was not there. Walked 2kms to get another , missing helmet and barely any scooters in city. I have to walk very long to get one. whole process of getting a scooter took 30 minutes. Would be nice to have website instead of only app, used my data for nothing. Also app should work offline for more convenience. Not everyone has data

Scooter ride. Good but no helmet ( had to use my own)

Good way to go everywhere in thailand. Love the experience

So fun and convenient!. Super convenient!

Good group trip. Was smooth ride and the newer was good power for bigger guy. Thank you

Visiting. Bikes are super heavy and pretty expensive.

Highly expansive for a lot of limitations and bugs. 150$ in a day, it’s expansive, highly limited in Canberra. And since they don’t have enough money they charge 2$ for parking spot now. The app is laggy and crash a lot of times. The e-scooter is hard to drive. Lime is way better

Overcharged. The scooters were hard to use. Also, I was not able to start the first one, but still changed. And after riding the second one, I found that it was overcharging. for 1.6km, it was 7.8rm, not what they claimed 2.5rm to unlock and 0.6rm per kilometer

b. so fun but expensive

Charged double. Why did I rent a car for 15 minutes but was charged double the amount I paid? The receipt showed RM 12.10 but I was charged RM 24.20 I returned the car to the correct parking lot and took photos. Doing more than refunding half the money I had to spend.

Needs work, more expensive than a taxi, app crashes.. Using Beam started off well enough, though I almost immediately realized it was more expensive than a taxi I would take to some areas of Kuala Lumpur. Sometimes Beam was cheaper but not always. My biggest issue with the service happened yesterday. I got to my destination and the app crashed. Thought nothing of it, and tried to reopen it. It just kept crashing. Having seen this with other apps before I deleted the app and reinstalled it. However, because I was not on WiFi while outside and I didn’t have a local sim or number, the app was super slow to download. During this time I could not end my ride and was paying for periods when the scooter was idle and parked. I also had to awkwardly monitor the scooter while running my errands because the scooter would be left on. As a Lead UX Researcher/Designer, the scooter and app suffer from core design challenges and lack of understanding as it pertains to heuristics and system design. The scooter itself should have an easy way to end the ride should a customer run into an issue, and there are several that might involve one’s phone. I couldn’t find a number on the scooter to call live support, or report an emergency. To end the ride I had to park in my hotel entrance, ask a security guard to watch the scooter, while I ran upstairs and let the app properly download on WiFi. It opened immediately and wasn’t crashing. I then went back downstairs, took it to a parking spot and was able to finally end the ride. In yet another incident but less problematic than what I shared above, the scooter started to slow down and was throttling my speed on a sidewalk, when I had just used the same sidewalk but in the opposite direction. I had done this many times without an issue on previous rides but for whatever reason it was an issue in the particular area I was in that day. I’m conflicted as to whether I would use a Beam again here. Motorbikes and taxis are more cost effective, (day rates can be as cheap as a single Beam ride) or cheaper by destination for a one way taxi ride.

Sweet. Awesome we raced some kids

just robbery. i downloaded the app and paid to use a scooter, and it didn’t go more than 2 miles per hour. emailed customer support several times requesting a refund on account of malfunctioning equipment and received no response.

$30/hr! Expesive, helmet missing. The price is rediculous. The helmets are missing.

X games. Great!

실용적이고 짧은거리는 최고에요. 이용하기도 쉽고 재밌고 기동성도 좋아서 앞으로 계속 이용할 예정입니다

Beam Gang!. Beam Gang for Life!!

Perfect 👍. Thanks for coming to Alanya

E-bike. Fun trip and easy!!!!
