EVgo - Find a Fast EV Charger Comments & Reviews 2026
EVgo slow!. The EVgo app works really well but the machines not so much so. The app allows you to find station locations and machines efficiently but once you show up to location is when the problem starts. Most of the time there are only a few machines and one if not two are malfunctioning. Secondly there are way more electric vehicles on the streets of California than expected because there is always a wait. This makes it very difficult to be time efficient when you have to wait in line or queue for the next operating machine that is still going to take almost an hour just to reach 80% charge. Please place more machines at the stations and if possible, make them faster than the current models available to us now.
Simply put, the app failed. There I was in San Diego, with my EV rental car at just over 20%. Use Google Maps to track down a charging station near the airport. Science, for the parking station were easy to follow and I parked my car at the station. Plug the car in and discover that I had to use this app to pay. No big deal… Download the app no problem and then was asked to give name, rank, serial number, blood type, and all sorts of information that I don’t have to give when I’m filling my tank with gas. Navigate my way through all of those gates and got to where I needed to input a payment option. Indicated I would be using my credit card, and when I got to the place in the app to imput my credit card information, it would not prompt me or open my keyboard. Without the keyboard, I was able unable to input any numbers. There was no option to pay with PayPal or Apple Pay or anything like that. Only by using a credit card number that the app did not allow me to enter. So, five minutes after giving the company all of my info, I was unable to charge the car and had to drive away. EV’s may be the wave of the future, but they are going to have issues as long as companies like this are going to force you to use their app to pay and then have the app not function.
EV chargers. I enjoy charging my car when the charging stations work otherwise I’m very unhappy. It seems like a battle every time We need more chargers here in San Francisco and throughout the whole Bay area on Highway five to Los Angeles I just reported four broken chargers at 2001 Market St. in San Francisco with expose wires. I’m at Whole Foods on Rhode Island, which is one of the chargers harmony is not working for the chademo Number, C2420 please try to put them in safer areas. Most of them are behind the building. Very dark places in very high crime areas. Which isn’t safe for us women or even men since there’s a lot of robberies going on in the bay area we need places that are well lit and maybe one day you could offer gift cards like they have gas cards I’ve been asking about this for three years. They’ll be the perfect gift.
Works fine, no complaints. To be honest, if I drove a gas car I would not want to have or need an app when I went to a gas station. So I really don’t care to have one when I charge, I just want to plug in the car, fill the battery, and go as quickly as possible. That said, the things I like about the app are the graph that shows the kW curve because I find that interesting, and the other stats available. I do look forward to the day when none of this is that interesting and we can just charge our cars in a few minutes and get one with it like we always did with gas.
Could be better for first time users. I am a new EV owner and this was my first time using an EVgo charger. I had set up my EVgo account in advance and added my vehicle in the “Vehicles/autocharge+” section of the app. So, I was perplexed when my vehicle did not begin automatically charging when I plugged it in. I tried tapping Autocharge+ on the EVgo charger interface but that didn’t do anything. Eventually, I figured out by reading more about Autocharge+ on the EVgo website that just because I had added my vehicle, it didn’t mean my vehicle was compatible. Apparently, if it was compatible, then there would have been an additional prompt when I added it to the app. This is way too subtle and confusing given that you add your vehicle to a section of the app called Autocharge+. Also, as a first time user, it was not apparent how to start a charging session in the app. It was not obvious that the chargers all had names and that you had to tap the type of charging cable you wanted to use under the name of the charger you wanted to use.
Horrible horrible company and customer service. I just recently got an electric car so I’m new to the chargers. As much as I can help it I avoid EVgo at all costs and only use electrify America or just charge at my house. I was running dangerously low on battery and drove to an EVgo charger that ended up not working. I tried twice on the original charger and then twice on another charger at the same station and neither worked. I then had to drive farther across town to another EVgo charging station and of course the first two chargers I tried didn’t work. I then called and after 20 min, a customer service rep was able to get the then FIFTH charger of the day that I tried to actually work. I asked if there was any way they could give me a credit for all of the time it took for me to finally get a charge and she sent my request to customer service. They emailed me and denied any request stating that I had a successful charge and completely ignored what I told them. I also realized then that my card was charged $4 for each of the original two charges that I tried. My card was accepted and then immediately stopped the charging so I never got energy to my car and shouldn’t have charges on my card. Still have never received a refund for those. If you have the option to use electrify America over this company I highly recommend to. EVgo chargers always glitch out and the customer service is useless.
Electric Cars Are Not The Business. Well, I rented an electric car and had no idea what I was doing. I thought electric cars were the next big thing. It turns out that it’s not the case for me anyway. It takes 11 hours to charge the car for one or if you get this app and pay more you can charge it faster for more money. BUT when you go into the app to find a charging station it’s so confusing! I finally figured out how to get to a station where the app said there was one free charging station. That was absolutely not the case! When I got there all the charging stations were Full and there was a line of 5 other cars all waiting to charge their car! There was no sense or rhythm to this so called line! You just have to figure it out. Completely ridiculous! So based on the unreliable information, the absolute chaos at the charging station, the need to invest so much time just to get power for a vehicle, this app gets a one star and a recommendation to just stay away from electric cars. After this I will gladly pay for gas!
Charger has never once worked. I’ve used a public EVGo charger perhaps 5 times in the last few years. It has not worked even once. It usually hangs at the screen where it says syncing with the charger. I’ve had to call them, wait a few minutes, and on a few occasions, they’ve managed to manually turn it on. The only reason I’m even trying to use their charger is that I got $100 in charging credits when I bought my Nissan leaf. What a brilliant and deceitful move on their part! The standard charger is not compatible with a Nissan leaf! And when I use the fast charger, it docks me around $20 for an additional 120 miles of range. I could've got thrice the range filling gas in a Hummer. And what’s more, one time I was not able to pull out the charger after it finished charging because the lock was stuck and spent half an hour on the phone again with them. As far as the app goes, as they say, you can’t put lipstick on a pig. But somehow they’ve managed to make the whole experience even worse! You cannot stop charging using the app. You have to go to the charging station, find the stop button (which in itself should win you an award) and hit that well hidden button before pulling out the charger. Which means that anyone can unplug you! I do feel bad for the app developers because of how bad the underlying charging system is. So I’ll try to say one thing nice. The fonts and colors and the look and the feel of the app is fairly decent.
Happy to see has come a long way since early versions. It’s great to see the app has been improved and perfected over the years. It has been very reliable and the functionality is great including access to billing and account information. The only suggestions are to change is having the map automatically adjust zoom to show the nearest station. This means if you open the map it should show the nearest charging station even if the nearest one is a bit far. The other suggestion is showing voltage and amps in real time on the app. This is a big sore point with the whole fast charging infrastructure. Usage is charged by the minute but yet I have no indication as to how much I’m getting for my money. I understand it’s likely the vehicle electronics that choose to limit the output to the battery depending on temperature and other factors but at least let me be informed so I can determine if I will be getting my money’s worth or not.
Terrible. Waisted 4 hours walking around and having a really, really, really long lunch. A flaw in the app will shut off your charge if screen is bumped when you put phone away. I checked later to see how charge was coming. Called there support line to which I was told everything was fine. -I explained I could no longer see the screen that says it’s charging and asked how to get back to it. If you can turn off charge from app and not just “at the pump” you should be able to verify it’s charging, turn it BACK ON if accidentally disconnected, heck even set limits. Say, “fill er up” or “put $10 on 5” whatever. Seriously lame. Now I have to go back tonight and sit in parking lot for 3 hours, as everything will be closed. Really disappointed, what an oversight not being able to start/confirm charge when you can apparently stop one in progress by putting phone in pocket.
Charging is a Breeze. They would have received 5 stars but I just stopped to charge and whenever I used it before, it has paired with my car and started charging on its own. Today, a bar appeared that said ‘start charging’. I was confused because I didn’t recall doing that before. I waited as the station did its thing and my car said ‘charging started’. I looked at the app and it didn’t recognize that I was using one of the ports. I had to go out and then back in to the app and then it showed me charging. So I am torn whether that warrants the loss of a star or not … maybe half a star. Each time I have used the chargers at this Pilot Travel Center on US 223 in MI, the charge is quick. I can’t ask for much better unless they would put one closer to my mother’s house.
Need more 100kw or 350kw in Chicago Illinois. I love EVgo charging station, but you have too many charging stations down at the same time one that I like to go through to the Macgregor has been down for about a month. Some technician installed new charging cables but it’s been OUT OF SERVICE for over a month now at least, and then there are two 50kW stations out in this area as well. One located at the Walgreens at Fullerton/Greenview and another one on Western Ave about a mile from the Wholefood at 3200 N Ashland. please get the broken charging stations fixed and put cameras up and ban people that are destroying the charging stations or using them. I’m tired of driving all over the city trying to find one that works.
Not all chargers function the same.. Some chargers require a working screen in order to operate. Something SO simple, yet seems like a foreign concept to EvGo. I’ve had my vehicle since April of 2024. It’s now September and they still haven’t fixed screens in my area that allow you to stop a charging session/start a session ect. Every time I connect to certain chargers I have to call customer service to disconnect the charge. Either that or I have to wait a full hour and it disconnects on its own. Pretty ridiculous. Only reason I use it is because it’s free with my lease for a year. If this issue isn’t fixed I will not be a paying customer come next April. Competitors in my area do well at servicing their chargers much better. Edit to add- if the app had an option to disconnect your vehicle from the charger it would save so much time!
Too many broken chargers. App works well, but there's just too many broken chargers. Most of the time the app is updated but there's certainly occasions where I've had to move to multiple open stalls to find a working charger even though the app says they're all online. I know that applies less to the app than the company, but the app itself could be 5 stars if it had ETAs on repairing broken units and was more up to date. As for the company, why does it takes weeks to months to fix a charger? Also, busted chargers should be indicated better so car after car doesn't pull in to try it, and getting frustrated. Maybe an LED on top you can see when approaching. Red (or off) for broken (not online), green for working, and blue for in use/reserved. Or something to that affect so we don't pull into broken or reserved spots as often.
EVgo: (EV)entually (Go)Home. Charge at home or sell your car. These stations will leave you stranded. Don’t rely on any of the evgo charging stations they do not have reliability of their stations to ever work properly. You’ll drive long distances to find charge only to be lied to on the app when the station is acting up; (a heads up to anyone. If it shows green it most likely doesn’t work and your vehicles not the issue. Some stations even go 3 months offline stating that they will have maintenance. It’s truly not worth the stress to charge at any of this companies stations. You’re better off paying for an adapter and plugging in at a Tesla Station. They are more reliable and have many locations with about 10+ stations at one location. Spending the extra money on an adapter is a lot better than relying on any evgo station to work. Trusting them means having to pay to get it towed to another one of their low budget locations only to find out this station also doesn’t work either.
Outstanding customer Support. There’s been multiple times where I’ve gone to an EV go charging station and experienced an issue with the charges not working, I was very frustrated and was getting ready to head out to a different location when customer Support reached out to me and offered to help, they did some rebooting on their end and got the charging station up and running, not only that but John offered to give me a free session for my inconvenience. I’ve experienced issues with other non EVgo charging stations, EVgo goes above and beyond to make things right. They will help you find a location that is working and available if they’re unable to fix the one you’re currently at. Top notch Customer Service highly recommend.
Problems fixed. App went from not useful to now only needing a few tweaks. I have not recently experienced inability to initiate charge at any station in last 4 months, an earlier problem. - it would be nice to go directly to charger instead of drilling down through menus. Slow cellular slows down the process. You can favorite a station, but not a charger - it would be nice to get charging level from app. App is already talking to station for time and connection. Why not grab the %? I can get it from car’s app, but have to use car’s 3G cellular and it has its own drill down and uptime issues. - it would be nice if app showed the running total of the fee. I now guess based on previous usage and do see the text message after charging complete. Also the text message could include balance to date. You have the data.
Excited now. Literally got my car Thursday and of course I had anxiety about it being electrical vehicle because I'm not used to electrical vehicles at all I'm used to having a key with my gass car but right now in this moment as I'm thinking I'm at the EV go station at this time and I'm learning asking questions and it's helpful and I called customer service and I feel a lot better with having a electrical car at this time I was one person who was so against having a electrical car because I'm so fixated on being old fashion with what I want lol but hopefully God keep me going with my car keep me safe and keep me loving evil go as well as any other station for my car to get powered up
Disappointing. This is an app that has data but wants to make it hard for you to get it and use it. When you search the map it does not show you the results on the map, only a list. What? There is no search from my current location option. Just dumb. Then if you move or resize the app it does not let you perform a search in the new area. Frustrating. This app was recommended by a car rental service but it doesn’t have the end user experience in mind. I’m telling them to suggest a different app. Because I am nice I won’t mention those other apps in this space, but they’re easily found. To evgo developers: just look at what Yelp has done with map searching and you can take a step in the right direction. Until then, I will use other apps to search for chargers.
Needs Improvement. Needs an apples virtual wallet card. When you first sign up, it gives you the option to add it to your wallet but then when you decide later on that you want to add to your Wallet, it is no longer available to you. You then have to order a card that comes in the mail. Who wants to wait for a card in the mail no one! Then the vehicle that you add on into the app doesn’t even show up on your app on your end but Customer Service can see it. Which is useless to you. After inputting the type of EV car you have you still have to go in and find the charger port that belongs to your vehicle and the map still doesn’t show you accurate EV points you can go to half of them don’t even exist. This is highly upsetting and frustrating time when you go to a point of and it does not exist. Hopefully no one gets stranded trying to find an EV charger that does not exist. My suggestion is that you write in words where this charger is if it in fact exists, not just a pinpoint drop on the map.
Customer support fell asleep and they stole my money. I've only charged my car twice—once on Thursday and right now, as I’m writing this review. However, there are two charging transactions on my account from Friday and Saturday that I didn’t authorize. I called customer service to report the issue and they said there would submit a ticket for it to be investigated further. After reading the email they essentially told me there was nothing they could do and said it was my responsibility to remove any cars from my account that I no longer own. The problem is, I only have one car, and I didn’t charge it three days in a row. After receiving that email response, I called again. After explaining the situation to the representative, they put me on hold, and I started to hear snoring—they had fallen asleep on the phone. I tried to wake them, but eventually hung up and called back. The next person I spoke with said they would escalate the issue further. This entire experience has been ridiculous. After reading other reviews, it seems that unauthorized charges and poor customer service are common with this company. I’m only using them because Honda provided me with $750 in credits when I leased my car, but given these issues, I’m seriously reconsidering whether I want to continue using their services and if I want to file class action lawsuit.
Frustrating service. The app is easy to use the availability and price of the chargers is great. However, there are so often problems with getting the car to start charging or chargers stopping unexpectedly that it’s really difficult to park and leave the car for an hour. I also really wish EVgo wouldn’t automatically stop after one hour, if you need to increase the rate a bit after an hour that’s fine but it’s frustrating when my car hasn’t gotten to a full charge yet and I have to restart the process to get it to 100%. These might all be things beyond the company’s control, but I really hope they can get more reliable and easy to use.
Ev go review. EVgo stations are awesome, but there are times where me and my family go to the charging stations and half of them are more than half of them are down. I’ve also had problems with your software changing from the plan to the page you go and I’ve had to call in multiple times and it’s inconvenient for me causes problems but other than that, EVgo is a great source for me to charge. I just wish you guys would take better care of your charging stations and take better care of your customers with, real technicians or customer service reps in the United States I do not like the fact that every company outsources to another country. I understand that it’s economically fit for you guys to do that but at the end of the day we got Americans that don’t have jobs that need help with jobs and I think it would be awesome. If you guys would keep everything local but each his own that’s on you guys but at the end of the day I just hope you guys get better with your customer service start, taking care of your charging stations and help keep your community strong
App does not accurately reflect availability. There’s a charger at my work that has been out of service for weeks. I’ve submitted multiple tickets, had various conversations with customer service and there has been no change. I understand that there are issues that are outside of the control of the people at the call center who are trying to help. I understand that there are difficulties in repairing chargers that are due to forces beyond my comprehension. However, this charger displays as AVAILABLE in the app. It’s not available and it does not work. What I cannot understand is how it is outside of everyone’s ability to change the availability on the app for this charger, considering it is non-functional, it’s status should be reflected accurately in the app. Maybe I’m just frustrated that this service I pay a monthly fee to use is not working out the way I want. Maybe it’s a feature and not a bug.
Charging my Tesla. Location and availability for me is always great. Very rarely have I had to wait on a charging station. I have my account set up so all I have to do is plug in my car. Charging start same as if I were at a Tesla charging station. Charging speed do not reach as fast as that of Tesla but I’m never in a hurry when I’m charge so no worries on that front. Only negative I must put here is that Sidley is consistently ready to charge but unfortunately Keir has down for well over a month and a half. No cool. Help you organization by fixing the charger. If you need an electrician, give me a call. I would to be your repairman for this area. Despite this one setback, I give this station a 7 out of 10 for location amenities near by.
A good app for a great service. This app is pretty straightforward and easy to use once you put your payment information into it. I set up auto charge with my car so that I only have to plug in at stations and it automatically starts a session without using the app anymore and it’s never been a problem. Just had to do the one time setup and now it’s as easy as just plugging in. EVgo has a good network here in California, my only qualm is that a lot of the chargers are limited to only 50 KW max which is lower than what a lot of newer cars can take so there is some need for upgrades to these older stations but the newer ones are fantastic. A+ service and customer support as well.
Great, some performance issues. The app is great, in general! You can easily find EVGo (and partner) stations. You're also able to begin charging from the app by plugging in from a station and finding the station in the app's map. I also enjoy being able to see the charge data via the app while my car is charged at a station However, I wish the app didn't slow down so much once I tried adding filters on the map to find specific charging stations. For example, the app froze every time I made a change to add or remove the Level 2 chargers from my search. Overall, 4/5 experience, and I hope the bugs/performance improves as EVGo gets more customers and more income.
The App itself has been fixed and almost perfected.. Simply plug in, open the app, wait a second or two for the app to discover charger based on location, then select plug, and finally swipe right. I truly have nothing negative to say about the app. I live in Houston, TX and for the rare times i do need a charge on my Chevrolet Bolt, it is a breeze. The only form of feedback i could give, is the price of the charge, it becomes too expensive to be charging at these for a road trip scenario. Not sure about competing chargers, but if i were to be strictly speaking on app user experience. After you set up payment, its as easy as swiping right on tinder and you begin to charge.
Setup and first use is painful. The app has several one way processes that are confusing. You don’t think you need to set up auto charge, but it’s hard to back out when it asks you for the VIN. Later, I realize that auto charge might be the only easy way to activate a charging station. Another challenge I had was the credit card set up. My credit card was expired, but the app didn’t tell me – all I got was an error message on the charger station itself saying error. really helpful! Once I entered a proper credit card in there, I finally got my first session going. But the app doesn’t allow me to delete my old card. What?? I feel like the error messages at the station itself or on the app could have been a lot more friendly. This is banking on the fact that you must charge your EV, so you will put the effort in or you can’t drive. People who have a choice will go somewhere else or use a different app.
Wouldn’t recommend for rideshare drivers. Was told to use this app for charging and have regretted it every moment. The chargers almost never work and you have to call customer service. They do work sometimes but they will be the slow ones. When you drive up if anyone else is there you will find they either have had an issue or found the one charger that does work meaning yours won’t. Once I called them and the dude laughed in my face and then hung up.I called back and they hung up again. Another time I called and a lady was super rude to me and they took like $80 off of my card and I still couldn’t charge. This being said, I have a lot of patience and a sick sense of humor so I can appreciate a one off but it’s been like this for 3 weeks- issues maybe 75% of the time which is costing me money and time I don’t have. I would recommend finding other chargers/apps to avoid the hassle.
Meh. Signed up having never actually been to an EVGo Charging station but seeing that there were 4 in the city versus 1 Electrify America. What they don’t tell you is the cables are about 1 foot long so if your charger is not located at the front of your vehicle or rear closest to the charger (which mine was neither of those) - good luck. I had signed up for a membership to try to save and I’m basically out the membership cost unless they decide to refund it which I’ve requested. Also there’s no clear way to cancel your plan - the link does nothing when you tap on it - so I’ve requested an account deletion instead and I’ll monitor for attempted re-charges. Worst case scenario I can always dispute with my bank since their chargers aren’t compatible with my car and they don’t disclose the cabling issue.
App does not work - impossible to sign up. Buggiest signup process I have had in years! It took em through the process, the en asked for my cc. I had to go get it to add it and the phone went to sleep. After wake up had to sign up again and it kept stopping me because it wouldn’t log me in saying the phone number was for a different account. I eventually had to use a different phone number. Got around that and then the app kept freezing/crashing/couldn’t see the charger. Connectivity is fine here three bars and other apps and videos are fine. Tried to pay manually and the first charger didn’t work and had to go to a different one that someone left which worked. Two of the chargers at the location actually are broken out of the 8. Called support while I was trying to get the second one working and they claimed they fixed my account hut that my issue was connectivity. Brutal.
Insane greed. The app as far as I can tell is fine I just didn’t realize the insane greed of this company. you have to have a plan with them. I went with the cheapest one, a dollar or so but then you can’t use your card unless you have at least $10 on there so in perpetuity there will always be five dollars or so that you cannot use on this card. The card is in my Apple wallet and shows I have a balance of $3.35. The charger won’t allow you to use your own money even though $3.35 would probably give me about 50 miles of range if I needed that in a pinch, that would be great. The icing on the cake however was an email I got for a late fee because they were able to charge my card. Excuse the heck out of you. Where do you get off charging a late fee to reactivate service I don’t know a single other company that does that that is an insane business practice. I have closed my account and will never use one of your chargers, unless it is an absolute emergency. i’m lucky that there’s a ChargePoint chdEmo charger by my house.
Off To A Rough Start. It was extremely difficult to get your app to work; I had to call in to customer service twice to have them manually initiate the charge. Problem was I could not sign in. App continued to not recognize my email and password even after signing up again with a new email and password. However, I was able to finally login after deleting the app and reinstalling it. Now both accounts seem to be working. I also was able to complete my first auto charge where I just plug in and confirm through the app with no tapping of cards needed. I’m glad to know it’s working now and it looks like going forward it will be a lot easier to use.
Great charging plans and excellent customer service. I enrolled in evgo max monthly plan and it’s already saved me money . Especially since get unlimited charging sessions. The app works great and keeps you updated on charging status. I had a slight issue with charger connector not being able to be unplugged. Well I called customer service and the associate who helped me was great and helped me to fix the issue and at same time taught me a way to get connector to unplug that’s not in cars owner manual. I was very impressed and enjoyed being educated on the connector issue since I’m new to electric vehicles so now if I ever have that issue again I know what to do. Must admit I was skeptical about what associate told me to do to fix the issue but it literally worked like a charm . 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Best charging station thus far. I live about 12 miles from the closest EVgo however I only come here because it’s fast and they have four charging stations. Unfortunately tonight I found out two of them are broke. I wish you guys would put more around. I live in Aberdeen and I have to come to Middletown, New Jersey to charge. There’s nothing by me tonight. I had 10% battery and I just made it here by the skin of my teeth. I have to say, though the customer service is amazing anytime I call. The app is convenient and so easy to use plus it gives you other stations all over. It’s just very unfortunate is not more.
Quick plug & charge option is clutch!. I’ve been an EV owner for 3 months & have been exposed to several charging station brands. EVgo is BY FAR the easiest to use. I set up the option for me to just pull out the plug from the station & plug it into my car & it automatically recognizes my ride & starts charging! There are other brands where I need to whip out my phone to use the app to even get the plug out of the charging station (it’s so annoying & often times time consuming). Plus, EVgo has a TON of fast charging stations. I’m typically driving to areas 1-2 hours away & it always bring me joy to find an EVgo fast charging near by & next to places I can chill/eat/shop while my ride charges. I didn’t know about EVgo before I bought my EV, now I’m so glad they are available for EV drivers like me to keep it moving.
Ok. The EVgo app sometimes works depending on the Wi-Fi signal or the 5G signal. And high urban areas it’s fine, but if you’re doing a trip from LA to San Francisco and have to be more rural there can be a lot of issues. When I first tried it, the phone number to call for help was terrible. However, lately when I’ve needed assistance because the machines can often be vandalized, the helpdesk people have been very helpful and manage to fix things on their end, such as billing or having me switch machines and making the payment easily done because the machine was broken, I really wish the EVgo machines were all next to a Starbucks or other eatery since you have to kill at least 30 minutes to an hour
Better Chargers of the Bunch!. They are straight forward and to the point easy to use and connect easily with your vehicles charge the fastest in my opinion—I really wish they had these in Corpus Christi Area or really more charging stations south of San Antonio because I stayed stranded in Three Rivers the other day thinking I could just hook up to any charge station (not the case whatsoever) boy did I have a rude awakening when I took my first trip in an electric vehicle south of Austin, Texas! Worst mistake of my life because I spent my whole 5 days in Corpus Christi looking for a place to charge the MUSTANG MACH E something to think about before purchasing or renting any type of electric vehicle—it really isn’t all they make it out to be once you’re outside of bigger cities. Food for thought have a good day
EVgo makes charging easier. Going EV was a a bit nerve racking since EV chargers weren’t as prevalent as gas station in every corner. EVgo helped ease that nervous feeling I had by making it easier to find chargers when I need it. Finding a charger was easy, but connecting and starting a charge even easier. When you have a created EVgo account and connect your car information it’s as easy as taking the charger and plugging it in. Charge starts, no prompts, no cards, just connects to your car charges your account and you’re charging! I know apps are always trying to improve my one suggestion as of now is to better the search tool. Adding the option of finding dual sided chargers (fast chargers that can do multiple cars at once) would be a welcome addition.
New user. This app is far better than the other 2 I downloaded. I am new to the EV car and have to say the first week or two of driving and getting used to it was not a good experience. Finding a reliable station that was working in my area was no easy task for someone who is as non tech savvy as myself. And figuring out how to maneuver through the apps and figuring out how everything comes together so that I can get the car going was a nightmare. However I’ve noticed that that this is the better of the apps I downloaded. As well as the customer service is outstanding. When I call for help. I’ll be using EVGO from now on.
Updated Review – Another Unauthorized Charge, Poor Support, and I’m Done. While my previous issue was eventually resolved, today I experienced another unauthorized charging session—and this one pushed me over the edge. I got a notification in the EVgo app saying a session had started, even though I was nowhere near a charging station. I immediately contacted support, provided the station name, and asked them to stop the session. They told me they couldn’t stop it without a station ID, but gave me no instructions on how to find that ID. This turned into a 30+ minute call with support while the session continued, and I was charged again. I’ve since asked them to remove my payment method from the account—but now there’s a pending charge, and I was told they’d follow up and resolve it. We’ll see if that actually happens. At this point, I’ve completely lost trust in EVgo. I will definitely be removing my account from the app once this pending charge is addressed. EVgo really needs to: •Let users view and cancel active sessions in the app •Prevent remote sessions when the car isn’t nearby •Make support more effective and responsive in real-time issues •Allow users to safely remove payment methods without getting trapped by pending charges Extremely disappointing experience. I expected better.
App is great but without ya can’t charge. I don’t like to give anything less than 5 stars as viewers believe to have REAL life experiences. But without the app most of their stations do not run! I have a car rental that I wasted most of my experiences on because of bad charging issues. I love electric vehicles but I hate when the stations are not properly maintenanced or users are not friendly to how to properly put back devices for others to enjoy! If you are smart enough to rent or own one be considerate to others, please!!! I couldn’t get the regular process of putting in my credit card to make it work. So I had to establish an account… I am seriously parked right in front of the machine. And in matter of minutes an idiot just takes it and said, ‘ oh you weren’t using it!!!! I couldn’t because the system says it uses credit card transactions but wasn’t having it… Please be considerate to others. I’m serious parked in the stall and how they took it away is insane!!! But I should have been able to just swiped my card to work and it, the machine, wasn’t having it!!! I am in a rental with limited charge time to return in same condition as I received it… Thanks for listening to a frustrated once again EVGO app person… the prices are ridiculous high why I only use you in extreme cases… my local charge stations are not EVGO and why I’ll delete the account once again… Have a beautiful day!!!
Paperweight made of electrons. Haven’t used it in a while, so I updated my app uploaded a new credit card (the old one had expired) subscribed to a plan, comfirmed by my credit card alert system notifying me of the charge immediately , and… The app doesn’t find any stations anywhere in Mountain View, California. Searching for them on the map didn’t bear any fruit either. Meanwhile, I’m parked right in front of one and the map is showing my location accurately. So I call customer service so they can activate it for me and they say well we see your credit card in there but your account is still suspended because you don’t have an active credit card… What? Presumably, something is wrong in the plumbing between my recently updated credit card information and their main database. Between both mistakes the app is useless. I’m going to try to get my one month subscription fee back, and right now I’m paying an arm and a leg per kilowatt hour using my naked credit card. I’m still giving the app one star because I have used it successfully before. It’s just been a while. Right now though it’s a paperweight made of electrons.
App is good but stations are unreliable. Overall happy with the app functionality. The main issues I have is the connection between the app and the stations are often times unreliable. Many times I couldn’t connect to the stations even though the app says it’s available and sometimes the app says it’s charging but soon after got disconnected because the stations giving out error message. A few minutes later I tried again and sometimes it would work and sometimes not. Also sometimes the status shown on the stations don’t always match the status on the app, which makes me think it’s more of a connection issue through the cloud network. Also not the app issue but often times the stations are down which is frustrating. Hope it gets better soon.
Best performing EV charging app. My one suggestion, particularly since you already have access to my location and home address and state of residence, is that you not default the location field when comparing the various available plans to California, implying that everyone who drives and EV lives there. That is not true. So maybe if the app developers could tie in your state of residence to populating that field and save us all from having to scroll down in the list every time we compare the rates, I could be convinced to switch to one of the newer plans. It’s kind of a shame you changed to time-of-day charging rates. It basically ensures that no one uses these chargers during the day. Autocharge was a great idea. It works well.
Most Dependable Charging Network. I’ve had my EV for about 6 months. At first public charging was somewhat a nightmare, broken chargers, offline chargers, etc. When I purchased my vehicle I was given a credit for 250 kWh of free charging on one of the bigger networks. After 6 months I still have about 150 kWh left in credit because I only use EVgo. I’d rather go pay at an EVgo charger I am sure will be available and working, than get free charging at EA because there’s a 75% chance I’ll have to go to EVgo anyhow when they’re chargers are offline. Love EVgo, love their dependability, and with the monthly subscription the prices are really good even during peak times.
Horrible company. I have had this app, and their rewards program, for 11 days. One day after I bought an electric car. It seemed nice at first, but then…. Apparently, my new account, that I just got, is connected to someone else’s VIN and when they charge their car, I get a charge on my credit card that is attached to my account. I had to suspend my account, and block my credit card. I was told that when I need to charge my car, I can call up and un suspend my account so I can charge my car while continuing to earn rewards, since I did pay for the rewards membership. It was a hassle, but it did work, one time. The second time I tried, the customer service rep, Chase, said I could not do that. I was told to use a different form of payment or close my account and open a new one. Since my account was still under investigation and I was not told to do that from the rep I was emailing to fix the issues, I was waiting for them to tell me how to proceed. In the meantime, following their direction on how to avoid yet another erroneous charge to my credit card. There had been 3 already. Needless to say, I ended up using a different payment, not getting the rewards, after spending 20 minutes on the phone, not charging my car!!! The app might be decent but the company and customer service is horrible!!
Slow, buggy, and intentionally misleading. I am only really using them as I got a $500 credit with my bolt purchase. There is a major bug that if you do not have a payment method added and add ChargePoint to the filter it will not show any stations anywhere. EVGo denies that there is even this bug. Also if you do not have an extremely good cell connection it will not be able to find any stations or just the ones you are near. All my other apps work and have internet, but Evgo is extremely picky. When I start a charge the charge will start after a little bit, but they app will always error out after a minute or two. It will show I am charging shortly after. Lastly with the $500 credit they require you to add a payment method to use it and of course when you are buying anything they do not show what payment method they are going to use, the credit or or credit card. They are relying on you not knowing and assuming it would default to the credit first. This is not always true and never true for the monthly plans.
Unreliable and misinformed. Chargers are unreliable, the support staff over the phone are useless. My car wasn’t charging one time and they told me it’s because my cars voltage was too low to accept a charge so I had to get towed. That was not correct the dealership checked my car and it was fine, and put it on their own fast charger(that was very slow and I had to wait two hours to get about 30% charge). Truth was my payment wasn’t going through because my bank was blocking the charge, but somehow it was my car‘s fault? When the chargers are down (and there’s no other EVgos within 60 miles) they wouldn’t refund my subscription even though my local charger has been down for over two weeks now. Speaking of that subscription I had the top level subscription which included reserving a charger, none of the chargers within 150 miles have that feature so I don’t know why they’re advertising it either. Chargers are always in bad locations, they’re expensive, and service is terrible. Cannot recommend at all. They’re up is also terrible, and glitches frequently. There’s no ability to add Evego to Apple Pay, instead they send you a physical plastic card? That’s what’s best for the environment of course. And that of course is also more convenient because I definitely want to keep track of another stupid plastic card.

Seattle Outlet Mall. Downloaded App. Easy set up. Very efficient. Maximum 60 min charge was more than enough to get us on our way.
King City. Wow arrived and no one around. Plugged in and app started very quickly charging over 200 super quick. Nice for a change.
Wish there were more !. Great experience once we found it and waited in line for 45 minutes . Wish there were more !!
Perfect charging. Fast and work properly
Canadians cannot register. No option to finish registration, since no provinces are shown in the choices.
Same for me in Canada!. Same for me in Canada!
First timer. Intuitive. Very cool that I can walk away from the charger an monitor the charge on my phone.
Great place. Easy to use Lots of amenities
Canada no provinces selection. During registration. Once you select Canada as country. No provinces available for selection
You can select Canada but….. Yes, you can select Canada. The trick is to scroll through the list of states and within the states are Canadian provinces. The states and the provinces are all mixed in together in alphabetical order in the list. Having said that, there are absolutely no charging station locations available in Canada, at least that I can see. So I don’t know if I’ll be keeping the app. Update: removing app since it’s no use to me. No chargers in Canada. Bye!
Fast and easyfold. I love this charger a lot. It works so well.
Can’t register in Canada. Why do you offer a charging app on the Canadian App Store when it won’t let you register outside of the US?

Broke my adapter, horrible service!. I’ve been a loyal customer, I pay monthly subscription, and I’ve invested in their stock through the worst times. The charging experience has always been hit or miss, due to their unstable connections and broken chargers. I stuck around for a long time, until they broke my adapter, and now it has been almost 6 months! They are not even responding to emails anymore. How reliable is a company, when they break a customer’s personal device, and refuse to even replace it?? How good a company is it if they can’t even take care of one single customer?! Anyway, I’m done with this company! And I hope I don’t have to bring a lawsuit against them because of something so stupid!
CarPlay on 2024. “I find the EVGO app to be highly useful and well-designed for managing my electric vehicle charging needs. However, it lacks a vital feature that is essential for promoting safer driving practices—support for Apple CarPlay integration. The absence of this functionality increases the potential for distractions while driving. Incorporating CarPlay compatibility would significantly enhance the user experience by providing a safer, more seamless way to access the app’s features while on the road. Additionally, finding an available charger would be much easier through the CarPlay map interface.”
App is terrible for car rentals. For a rental it is absolutely frowned upon by me. Do yourself a favor and find different chargers with a different app, if you’re renting, I’ve used them all, this is the worse app to use and it is very time consuming if you’re in a rush to get your rental back. You will hate renting an EV if u you have to use this app, too many bugs and I had credit card issues with and without the app(sliding at machine because the app wasn’t working). It took a $30 hold, not good when you’re unaware of it. I also tried to use different cards thru the app. The app said my rental was already registered, (probably if it’s a rental) and to proceed I had to call in, so that’s a big time issue. Just a hassle I would rather do without and trying to pass on
Good but... Everything is good but 1. my session charging timed out in the app and I got an error message even though the charging session started successfully; I had to exit to the main menu to see a status at the bottom left corner that my charging session did in fact start successfully despite the multiple messages that I got complaining about a session timeout, and could not successfully charge. also in order to update the status of a specific charger I had to exit the app and reopen it. It would be great if there was a manual, refresh button if the developers and the systems engineers are trying to conserve battery power of my smart phone—- or alternatively, it would be good if you could just refresh the app every 2-3 seconds, so I can get an accurate status of an individual charger. Other than that it’s great, which is why I give it four stars.
Experience has deteriorated with time.. I just wasted 40 minutes trying to charge because all chargers said connector unavailable from the app when they were clearly available. Two support calls later. I was able to get a charge started by them because of the apps issues. That’s not the only thing also lately the App displays an incorrect price at the point when you click start charge, but then will charge you more. It’s just unfortunate that the software experience seems to be deteriorating rather than getting better, but don’t you worry the hardware experience has deteriorated too. Tesla’s network can’t come soon enough for the rest of us.
Could use a map. The app is usually much more reliable than the card, as I primarily use it when i constantly get errors when using the card. The only reasons the app didn’t get 5 stars from me is due to the fact that you sometimes cannot stop a charge remotely from the app, and there isn’t a map with all of the charging stations in the city. It would be more convenient to have a map to be able to plan ahead, rather than gambling on the app finding a charger near you. It would also remove the need for a third-party app to find charging stations when you are not very close to one.
So very easy to use. The EV go fast charging stations are so very easy to use even whenever they’re not working all you need to do is give their support and help number a call and they are right there and they help you and you’re usually charging within a minute I have never had a problem with charging or if it there was a problem they had me charge him within a minute I love to use the EV go charging stations when I’m out and about if I need them they are usually right there to help
Charger Dead or Charger glitchy!. I had a run to the airport at 4 am. A 190 mile r/t. I planned to stop a a charger with 20 miles of battery life. That EVGo charger was broken! On to the next one,15 miles away! I arrived with 1%, 0 miles on the battery! That charger would not scan my phone app nor take a credit card! I called customer service and it didn’t go through! I’m looking across the street at 6 Tesla chargers, all available and working! Finally, the customer service representative answered and was able to reset the charger and got it working. When I asked what went wrong his response was, “It was just a glitch!” No one needs a glitch at 6 am! Thanks to the customer support, I’m not stranded in 25 degree weather!
EVgo. I’ve been using EVgo’s superfast charging stations for a little while now. The charging speed is excellent, whether I’m using a single station or one of their simultaneous charging options. I especially appreciate the affordability during their super off-peak hours—it’s a real money saver while still getting a quick and reliable charge. The app is user-friendly and makes finding available chargers easy, even in busy areas.
Great when EVgo stations are operational!. The app is awesome at finding EVgo stations, giving charging status, pricing and enabling subscription plan sign ups. My issues have been with the charging machines themselves. Some of them don’t often connect the first time; fail after payment; fail after payment has been approved but machine won’t connect to car. Can be frustrating. If app could work more seamlessly with troubleshooting the machines and giving customer service support proactively that would be a dream!
Very easy to start session. I use this app a lot when taking long trips in my Bolt EV. The app immediately recognizes the charger when I stand in front of it and I need only a couple of simple screens to make my selection and “Swipe to Charge”. Very improved app in the last several years. The main things I need are accessed right from the opening screen and the other useful features in a menu tray accessed via one tap. The notification system is easy and very useful. I wish it had the ability to display car state of charge on my phone while charging and display recent charges by others at that station (for better trip planning).
Excellent Charging Station. This is a excellent charging station we need more like these. Great to charge your car close to somewhere to get a cup of coffee and a bit to eat. I love that it’s partnered with Wawa. We just need more charging stations around because we are now starting to see a lot more electric vehicles on the road. Wish we could start this reserve feature I see on the app. It would be nice to know you have a spot and don’t have to wait. Overall great chargers.
New indicators and layout. I like the new updates and the icon symbols. It is listing the stations that are out of service which is good. I just wish these stations were fixed as I have a photograph of one that has been out of service for 2 months now. If you want to compete with other networks, you need to be vigilant with service repairs. This is why I own a Tesla. Just don’t be like charge point which has a quick charger with spider webs. It hasn’t been fixed in 5 years!!!
Do not sign up via the app. Do not waste your time trying to sign up using the app—it does not work! USE THE WEB SITE instead: it is painless, easier, and it works. The app wants your address, and then makes you enter it a second time. It says Country is required, and says you must pick your country from a list, but it never shows the list. You have to pick your car’s Year, but the choices are single a double digits from 0-64. When you finally enter your credit card, it rejects it. When you page back and forth through the form pages, it forgets what you entered before forcing you to renter the information again. I generously gave the app 2 stars because once I signed up in the web page, it worked fine to select and start charging.
Solutions for the non-Tesla, EV crowd!. I have to say, I was hesitant to rent a non-Tesla, EV before my drive up the coast of California. The thing is, though there’s so many other choices around other than Tesla. This time I went with a Polestar 2. Fortunately, I spent a little time downloading this app and familiarizing myself with it before I rented my vehicle. This app is so user-friendly and the communication between it and the charging station was effortless! I’m used to the Tesla supercharger, but I have to say the EVGO Fast Charger is faster than Tesla!! Great Job!
Almost useless. Needed a way to charge a rental and this was the only option in the geography. Loading the app was an exercise. Signed up for an account which then was repeatedly ‘no email or wrong password’. When I could login successfully, it would fault and close repeating the login issues over again. After 30 minutes in 30 deg weather I then need to search for the charging station that I’m parked in front of. Start the search and results are limited to the LA/Santa Monica area 2800 miles away, really helpful. Fortunately, customer service via phone is quick and responsive. The only value the app has is for creating an account remotely. A phone call is faster.
Great and we need more chargers!. I do find that EVGO is often the closest charger in town. And I like that there are discounts for using the app and setting up a monthly membership. The app usually works great. Sometimes there is a problem with the charging station interface, but usually the app will still get me going! I do wish there was more monitoring of chargers that are down, seems rare when all chargers at a station are all in order. Also hope to see more stations open up in the Berkeley area, we need more!
App works well, but where is CarPlay?. App works well. I generally don’t use EVGo unless I have to because their prices are higher than their competitors. However, I do like the user interface more than the competitors. Would be very nice if the same charging interface was displayed on my CarPlay display as I am charging so I don’t have to look back to see pricing, etc. Yes, I know I can view it in the phone app; however, having it on the CarPlay screen allows me to take a glance and use the phone for other things.
Weird issues. The app has… issues. I can see the map of chargers, filter for fast ones (don’t actually get fast charging from them, but that’s not the app’s problem). In CarPlay you can’t touch the locations to start navigation, there’s no intuitive way to start a charging station from the app as the screen at the stations instruct (I found it once, failed the second time so just swiped a card), and you can’t actually change the notification preferences in the app, you can touch the buttons, but they change right back. Yes I have the latest version of the app, yes I have the latest version of iOS, yes I uninstalled and reinstalled the app.
Unreliable app. Unreliable chargers. Unreliable company.. People who use EV’s on a regular basis trust that the chargers they use will be available when they need them. Just like anyone who drives a gas vehicle can trust that the gas pumps will work, without having to think about it. EVgo’s app cannot be trusted to give you accurate information about the status of their chargers. On several occasions I have seen two “green” indicators on the app, meaning the charger is available and functional, only to discover that the charger is down once I’m on site. I wonder if EVgo understands how disruptive this is to their paying customers. This also underscores the problem of chargers (at least in my area) going down with upsetting regularity. EVgo will tell you if you call that chargers don’t stay down for more than a week or two. Nope. I’ve seen chargers go down for months at a time, stay on for a few days, then go down again. Something is seriously wrong with the way EVgo operates and maintains their equipment and their network. Hopefully other EV companies will come into the area and give us some meaningful alternatives so I don’t have to keep playing roulette with EVgo.
App. I think that your app works very nicely. However, when I pull it up and I am charging or it is turned on to show me how to get to your chargers and I pull up, it does not show me the charge on the screen when the screen outside shows me that I am now charging the vehicle, and I get in the vehicle to look at my iPhone, I have to tinker with it for five or 10 minutes and then it will suddenly decide to show me that it is charging with the circle. If you could improve upon this, so that it either gave me the choice of seeing that or not, it would be great.
Iphone app a little glitchy but decent charger station coverage. App is super slow at providing available charger stations when you are in a time crunch. Id like to believe most spoils prefer sitting at charger on their phone charging their car than sitting on side of road lookong for a charging station that is convenient with their route. I wish they would add the ability to make favorite charger locations. I use the same charging station when commuting on side jobs. I primary charge at home. It's great that stations are becoming widely available when I need to charge.
App less reliable than the chargers. I don’t understand this company. Their app is so bad. My car wouldn’t charge- it started to charge then would stop 3 seconds later. No error messages on the app or the charger, and the car said “check charger”. I tried 8 times with no luck and drove away. I submitted a support ticket and they said it was because my credit card was expired. What?! Why wouldn’t the app just say that? I’ve also had a lot of trouble getting chargers to start from the app even when everything is fine. This company doesn’t care at all about user experience. All non-Tesla automakers should help these fools figure it out so that driving non-Tesla electric isn’t so frustrating.
Convenient only if the charging stations are working. It’s convenient to have the fast charging station at Walgreens. But you cannot count on the charging stations are working until you get there. Some of them had been out of order without any power at all to charge the car or on the screen. The customs service is helpful when you call them to restart the station if it has power. They will offer the next closest charging station. But if you depend on finding a charging station that is working when your battery is running low, don’t depend on them for your life if they don’t work. For those charging stations without power, they can’t even restart it remotely, which requires technicians get there physically to fix then and power them up. But some stations seemed to be dead for months. Hope their charging stations are more dependable. It’s great when they work but they increase your range anxiety when they don’t work.
Fast charging. Frustrating issues with chargers.. EVgo has some of the faster charging stations around, which is great. However, they often lack signage to indicate that non-EVs shouldn’t park in their spots and they currently do not have a policy to enforce towing when this happens. I often show up at a spot that’s supposed to be available to find some huge truck blocking the charger. Further, the Charge Point app does a much better job of giving an indication about how much your car has charged and how much more time it will need. I find the EVgo app cumbersome on this front. It also regularly takes forever to load a charging point and get the charge to start. The whole thing is unnecessarily glitchy and I wouldn’t use EVgo except that, again, they have fast chargers.
Renters Do not try. I wish I could give this thing 0 stars. They’ve essentially made charging a huge pain. I rented an EV and thought it would be a good use of my time to charge while I shopped in Scottsdale. But unfortunately this company makes you download there app, then sign up, then register the vin (which didn’t work for my car). then the auto charge feature, which is supposed to be for rental cars to charge more easily, didn’t even work!! Literally do not waste your time if you have rented an EV for you trip go someone here else where you will not have to struggle to pay for charging. Next time, just offer a two to pay with debit/credit on the station — it’ll save everyone a load of time.
A first for everything. This is the 1st time of using a EV-GO fast charging station. I have been using EV-GO with my 2022 Chevy Bolt but the 1st time with my new Cadillac Lyriq. I had read where the EV station would recognize my car but what I didn’t know was that I had to use my APP and the procedure to get the juice flowing. I have a 19.2 charger on my Lyriq and within 20 minutes I have almost 260 miles as it charges at 74kw. The EV-Go stations seem to be hard to find but worth the stop because they seem to be with the Wawa gas stations so there is always something good to eat.
The app is working as intended.. When you look for a charging station, it will give you the closest available station. But sometimes when you get there. Someone might get there before you. It happens to us all the time. That’s why everyone should get all the charging network apps or EVgo should provide more CCS charging stations. Tesla in Europe has CCS converter for Tesla use. All the non Tesla vehicle will suffer when Tesla start charging on CCS network. EVgo should provide a pop up message that if the station is occupied while we driving to it. So we won’t be frustrated and wonder if we have enough juice to make it to the next station or home.
Mobile app disconnected from web version. In a mobile world I should have all the key information on my app. I shouldn’t need to double check the web app and I definitely shouldn’t have to spend money because of their poor design. Specifically I added a rental vehicle to the app and deleted the vehicle when the rental ended. But not visible on the app was that a “card” had been created and it needed to be deleted thru the web app. That card let someone else charge the rental vehicle up on my account. The support team told me I shouldn’t have added a rental vehicle in the app. If that’s the case, why have a path kn the app for adding a rental. More importantly, why not have any visibility on the mobile app of cards at all. Really bad product design and user experience.
They are not ready!. EVGO unfortunately is NOT at all ready for the customer load of EV owners. Many times it shows a charger is available only for me to arrive and see it’s not. And that’s crucial because often the next “available” charger is not near by. The app also advertises that you can start a charge from the platform, which also isn’t always the case. I often have to call and wait for a rep to start it remotely. My biggest grievance is the number of stations crashing is growing and despite putting in a ticket for repair, the company clearly has no intentions on attending to them. It’s been over six months that CABLE, JARED and EMMA have been out with not resolution in sight.
App needs to be more stable. I love the convenience of being able to plug up and walk away while still having access to my charge status! Sometimes though the app does not let it be known when there is a station that is offline or under maintenance and I won’t know until I pull up and see that it’s not working! Or I see in the app that it’s stated that the machine is working, only for me to plug up and get error messages minutes later about a session timeout for whatever reason.. Fix this and I can rate a 5star⭐️
EVgo isn’t perfect but it’s reliable. Still 5 stars for reliability but watch out as some of their machines are labeled as 150kW but max out at 50, and it matters because most of EVGo’s DCFCs are by the minute. Naturally, the true fast chargers make you spend less time and money; so make sure you look at the little sticker on the actual charge piece to see if it’s truly fast or just a 50kW one and just barely a fast charge but more expensive because it’ll take you longer on it
Terrible Customer Service. Terrible customer service. I have a Tesla Model 3, but have used Evgo once since signing up for the membership back in August of last year. I called to cancel because it was hard to find a way to cancel in the app. I asked for some credit because I haven’t been using EVgo and attempted to cancel in the past. Not only did they say no (which maybe I can understand) but they took away my existing credit of $23 that I could have used before it expired and said that it was a glitch in the system and I shouldn’t have that much. The woman I talked to wouldn’t put her supervisor on the line. This was a very disappointing interaction with the company and not a good way to do business. Very unhappy with this company and not a positive experience at all.
Accessibility. Echo Charging stations are great once you find one that works. Our problem is about 50% of the time the charging stations do not work. We find that it is a very social activity to have to at the charting stations as people start discussing either their problems of the other working of the working status of the machinery or lack of locations. We are very lucky to have this location, a half mile from our house and we find it is usually available at the times we want to charge.
Time and patience. With a little patience u can do anything just breathe and release slowly and watch magic happen. SOMETIMES THE APP IS EFFECTED BY INTERNET INTERRUPTIONS especially if u are under ground parking or on a hill type place . EVGO HAS BEEN THERE WHILE I TRAVEL IN PLACES WHERE FAST CHARGERS DONT EXSIT . I want to assist in the placement of more units .faster easier charges for every location thats busy PLEASE VISIT MY HEALTH BLOG ON FACE BOOK VIA “ROYAL HEALTH” #ROYALHEALTH AND ASK TO JOIN REACH OUT TO ME IF U WANT TO PARTNER UP AND BE A INVESTOR IN YOUR OWN BUSINESS OWNING A FAST CHARGER . Improvement. The app is good, but it needs refinement. For instance, if you are targeting a specific charging location on your trip, there should be updates on when there is and is not availability, so if you’re driving towards charging station a, and it fills up while you’re getting close, you could then move to an alternate charging station with availability. Would just be nice to have that information as you’re getting closer to the charging station. I’m speaking about a pushed text message, not having to look on your phone while you’re driving.
Almost the Best. I think this app is the best on the market, but not the best overall. I LOVE: _ ease use to charge at the station _ great UI for finding stations and charging _ great UX, I tell other EV owns to get it. WHAT I NEED for it to be best: _ setting to display preferred station type (Level 1,2,3) on map _ icon to find nearest station, per preference, to me now. _ integration with MMI or CarPlay so I can find a station nearest me while driving _ integration with Audi to tell me when/where to charge based on available stations and current charge levels _ icon on locations with food, restrooms, service
Terrible, both the app and the service. I don’t typically write reviews for apps but holy crap was my experience terrible. I cut it close and stopped to charge. First issue was that the credit card function was down, so I had to download the app. Then during the lengthy registration process, the app froze on multiple stages requiring me to quit and restart (had to enter my credit card 3 times). Then after standing outside my car like an idiot for 10 minutes, I finally started charging, and I was able to add 3 miles of range before the charging dropped to 6kwh (basically nothing). This happened twice before I decided to go to the supercharger that was out of the way. EVGo, please cease existing and let someone else do it better.
App works well, but the fast chargers don’t. I will the app is more in sync with the chargers. The app doesn’t detect faults on the chargers and most of the time I have to call in and because the representatives are mostly from the Philippines they can only respond from the list in front of them. Very frustrating! 99% of the time, the charger just needs rebooting, but I would spend 20 minutes waiting to speak to someone and another 20 minutes to go through the verification process and in the end the charger just needs rebooting. Simple and quick but seems complex when I call in.
Smiling and satisfied.. Had the app already. I infrequently rent electric cars, but when I do … POLESTAR. Has very decent range in my opinion. But not all chargers are built the same. Fast = slow. Very fast = kinda fast. Super fast = fast. EVGO makes it easy for me to find the super fast ones in my area that don’t leave me sitting in the car for an hour waiting for the car to charge. And their app is SO USER FRIENDLY. And they name the machines and it was a seamless transition from app to machine to machine. Get it? EVGO rocks.
Customer Experience. Having to use the fast charging station for the very first time was amazing. Not knowing what to do at first was not an issue. When I call EVgo customer service, the help I was provided was excellent. Not only they helped me to set up my account active it, walked me through the app, including how to charge an electric battery at a fast charging station. they were extremely patient they listen to me and they solved my problem. It is all about the customer experience and mine was outstanding.
EVGO is great……..when the stations are working.. Have had good success with their chargers. They are noticeably cheaper than their main competitor Electrify America. The very frustrating problem is that when you show up no and over half the chargers are down. Example. The location at Middlebelt Rd and I-96. We barracked a point where we avoid this location when we are in the area. If there are 2-3 working, there 3-4 that are not and half a dozen that are waiting to charge. I do like that when a machine is working, usually two cars can charge from it at a decent rate.
Representatives are useless. I have been having a problem with my account with EVgo and the representatives. Don’t know how to fix it. This has been the worst nightmare of my life having a car that I can’t use because every time I go to a charger my account won’t work. When I put my card up to the station, it gives me the message “card disabled”. I have told the representatives. It’s a problem with my card not the charger but they don’t listen and all they will do is reset the charger that is working perfectly fine. I have talked to several representatives, and nobody knows how to fix my problem. I have wasted 4 to 5 hours in a single day trying to get them to resolve the issue, but they never do
Awful Just Awful. Don’t Do It. You’ll regret it.. Straight up trash! The chargers never work. This company is precisely why people are either skeptical or hate EVs. Reliable and functioning chargers are an absolute necessity for being able to operate your EV, much less avoid the ‘range anxiety’. This company needs to either put up, or shut up. If gas stations were this unreliable, people would be furious. Get your act together EVgo. Fix your quality issues and stop being part of the problem. If i’ve been to an EVgo charging station ten times, then ten times there was either 50% of the chargers weren’t working, or 100% weren’t working. Even the ones that actually work will stop mid charge with an error. I just had three charging fault errors in row and said F@!&k this, i’m never coming back.
Terrible update. This app worked wonderfully for the many months I’ve used it. That is, until the most recent update. What the company improved UI-wise they’ve destroyed in terms of functionality. The app takes forever to open, minutes to load the map of chargers, and more time than previously in beginning the charging process. The previous version was incredibly fast, and I never had any issues. My car already charges more slowly on evgo stations than other stations, but I’ve stayed with it. This new update makes it more likely I’ll switch to electrify America or another company. Finally, the app continually asks me to add a payment method. WHY!? My payment is the exact same and unchanging. Absolute garbage.
Little Tokyo EVgo. It was my first time charging an electric car, and I had a hard time initially with the process because of it being a rental and because of the fact that the system has a nonfunctional credit card pad… (hope it hasn’t been rigged with a skimmer for fraudulent usage). But I called customer service and they manually got everything working virtually. An an hour later was on my way. Overall 4 stars because of the extra time spent because of the broken credit card pad.
EVGo Ease. So I had rented a EV and I needed to charge it before I went back to the drop off point. Since I had a Tesla before as a rental, it was easy to find super chargers. Turns out most other EVs don’t necessarily use superchargers. So once you download the app for EVgo and enroll in the auto option, it definitely makes things much easier because you just pull up, authorize the charge, plug-in, and then just wait for your car to charge. All in all a good experience. Especially if you have a rental and no charging unit at home. Thanks for reading. Enjoy !
Evgo the best way to go. I often find myself between evgo and charge point. I myself love evgo so much more. Great plans, locations, customer service but the charging is faster and far superior to when I charge with charge point. I actually stop and pay for the evgo charger even though there is a free charge point a couple miles down road. If that doesn’t speak volumes I don’t know what will! Keep up the great work and I hope to see more stations.
Kinda upset. Would be great if we actually know , if I could actually go and EVgo was going to be available when I get there, happens all the time where I check the app and it says it’s available but when I get there someone else just happens to get there right before me and then I now have to wait until they charge for a hour because apparently nobody cares about 80 percent, they mostly all charge 100 percent, more ccs being used so why are half of the stations chademo, if in 8 months I maybe seen them used twice
Horrible. Honestly these charges are garbage. 80% of the charges in Los Angeles County DO NOT WORK or are out of service but will say that the charger is open, available and ready for use on the app. When charging stations go down they rarely get fixed or worked on unless they are in gentrified areas like, Beverly Hills or Santa Monica. For some reason EVgo also thought it was a good idea to put alot of these charging stations in parking lots you have to pay to enter in the first place. So not only do you need to pay to charge but you also have to pay to enter the parking lot EVgo decided to place the charge station in. In my opinion Electrify America is the superior option and EVgo is more stressful the helpful majority of the time
