PlugShare: Charging Stations Comments & Reviews 2026

Over all excellent and essential EV long trip tool. PlugShare is an extremely valuable tool for anyone doing long distance traveling with an EV. The crowd source information about charger status is far superior to those provided by the vehicle manufacturers. I use it when planning trips where I’ll need to charge on my way to a destination. I’ll often refer to it during the trip to see if any has posted a recent problems with a charger I plan on using. I also post my experiences at each location I charged. The trip planning tool provides you a comprehensive list of charger locations. However other apps provide you with more specific destinations to charge. I do strongly recommend this app to any EV user.

Thank you for the recent update. Thank you for adding the ability to hide networks and dealerships. It creates a much more meaningful map as it now only shows truly available charging location. The only additional request I would have is to add a “report bad plug” to the check in. I will often be able to charge at a location, but 2 of the 4 plugs at that station will not work. Because I am able to charge, the station rating goes up or stays at 10, even though it is not really a “10” location.

Colorblind mode option???. Great app, very happy with the ability to quickly narrow down options based on type of charger. New to having an EV vehicle so I’ve been exploring different places I might go to. Unfortunately, I’m colorblind and I absolutely cannot distinguish the difference between a level 3 port and level 1/2s in the map (have to ask my fiancé which ones are level 3 and then memorize it) and can’t find a filter to apply for this. It would be great if you could filter to show only level 3 chargers or to have a colorblind mode where the level 3 ports were distinguished by a more distinct color or even by a different shape

Plug app review. In dfw it is difficult to find fast chargers without long lines of ev cars waiting to be charged. I drove to Sam’s club in west ft worth. The wait was to long. I drove to a shopping center to charge on a 50 kW charger. It took an hour to get back to 80%. Then google maps sent me 50 miles out of my way to get back home. Instead of 160 miles, now I had to drive 210 miles. Plug app said there were chargers at bucees at Texas motor speedway. When I got there they were not yet in operation. So I drove to Denton and used the electrify America fast chargers. I made the 180 miles home okay. I was upset because plug app said the chargers at bucees were available, but in fact they were unavailable due to still being in the construction stage.

BEST EV CAR APP!. This app is a must for anyone using an electric car for their first time! And with the latest updates the travel planner is very helpful! Don’t forget to log on to their website on a computer, it helps there too if you don’t want to be confined to a phone/iPad. I wish I knew about this app before I bought my Hyundai Ioniq electric. I realized that I can’t go from SoCal to Las Vegas. Let alone to Salt Lake City its going to take A LOT longer than traveling in a gas powered car. The 124 range on my car just won’t do it for long trips. There are not enough charge stations. This app gives you all the info you need to adjust from a gas powered car to electric. Enjoy!

Life Saver. This app was a life saver when I first got my electric car. I live in an apartment so am completely dependent on public chargers. I spent hours on this app finding convenient chargers that match my plug near every place I frequent, and I still have some nearby chargers I haven't even tried yet. I am so fortunate to live in Oregon with a half-way decent infrastructure supporting electric vehicles! This app essentially made it possible and easily workable for me to own an electric car. I honestly don't know what I would have done without it. Thank you!

Glitchy, incompatible with Semaconnect stations. I saw Plugshare’s 5 star ratings and figured that it would perform much better than Semaconnect’s 2 star app. So when I needed to start charging my EV at my apartment complex, I downloaded PlugShare and forgot that Semaconnect had its own app. This was my mistake. When initiating a session with PlugShare, my car would never start charging. After the two minute window, the session would time out as if I didn’t plug in my vehicle. I definitely did. After several calls to Semaconnect customer service, I realized that I needed to use Semaconnect’s app. When I tried initiating a charge with that app, my car started charging within seconds. I guess I’ll give Plugshare two stars because my car did charge about 20% of the time.

Wonderful ev charging app. This app is perfect. If your looking for an app that shows you a map of every ev charging station in the United States. This is the one for you. It shows you the location how much it cost to park or charge. It lets you start charging from within the app. People can also leave reviews of the charging stations along with photos. It will also tell you what type of plugs the station has and what amenities it has. Been using this app for over a year now and have nothing but great things to say about it. I wish all ev owners knew about this app. Truly life changing

PlugShare is Great!. UPDATE: It’s been five years since bought our Volt, and even at 120,000 miles, the honeymoon continues! PlugShare has been our constant companion in our travels around our state, as hurricane evacuees, as eclipse tourists, and when driving halfway across America to visit family. PlugShare has reliably guided us to charging, when we need it. It’s a “Must Have” for EV drivers. Five years ago, we wrote... My wife and I are new to EV ownership. We have owned a Chevy Volt for less than a month, but we LOVE it! The challenge to any EV driver is locating reliable places to charge. PlugShare solves that problem, and is paving the future for personal transportation in the USA. PlugShare was recommended by members of our local EV club, and using it has been excellent. It is well laid out and reliable. Even though we are new users, we've already listed our own home charger, and have reported on existing EVSE that we have used. We give PlugShare a big thumbs up!

Private chargers. If the point of the app is to fanboi out about ev’s it’s doing great. If the point is to find a place to charge your car then this is not suited to the task. Like a pipe wrench used to hammer a nail it can work in a pinch. 98 percent of the listings are private lots. Whether they are business owned employee lots, hotels requiring a stay, businesses requiring a non-ev charge purchase or a private home, they are restricted public access and the app needs to have the ability to filter them out. Currently there are only toggles for private home and hotel. Thus the reason for the second star. Want to make it five star? Have the default map setting for full public access only. If I want to apply for a job with a business that offers employee charging, let me toggle it on to see my options.

unreliable for trip planning -UPDATE. as noted below I had some issues with trips disappearing. After a few days and several messages exchanged with the support team, my trips have reappeared. Support team’s follow up was very good and helpful. Changing my rating from one star to four (should not have happened in the first place) but thanks to the support team for a good follow up. I have spent hours preparing a trip to a remote area in the USA, happy to have found listings of various chargers for my EV. I planned waypoints accordingly resting points places to spend the night I saved my trip at several occasions only to find today but it has all disappeared. The frustration of having spent so much time and having it disappear is huge. I cannot recommend this site nor its accompanying app since neither has managed to save my work.

Poor and oblivious privacy practices. 1. When opening the app and signing up, do not put your real name as this is displayed to everyone upon “checking in”. 2. When “checking in”, the website will tell everyone your vehicles make, model, and year. There is no option to remove this other than to remove your vehicle entirely and not have the charger searches specific to your vehicle. All filters reset each time you restart the app. I think tying your exact vehicle to an exact location at an exact date and time is creepy, especially when connected to your name. I feel like this is online safety 101. This inhibits people from willingly checking in, as they’d rather maintain the app functionality and their privacy. This anecdotally reduces the app efficiency dramatically.

Great keeps getting better. This is the only app that really matters for all EV drivers and I’m amazed it hasn’t been acquired by a bigger company yet. Without this app, our 2000 mile road trip would not have been possible and I use it whenever I’m going anywhere I’m going to need a charge away from home. I was very excited when they added Trip Planner to their web platform. And now that they’ve added Pay with PlugShare, it’s edging closer to the “can’t live without” status. My first time reviewing an app, because I want more people to use it. Especially the check in feature. Fingers crossed for Apple Car Play integration.

Evie relies on this app!. IT’S THE ONLY APP YOU NEED for up-to-date information on available charging stations. Many thanks for developing a great app. Not just for finding chargers but for the rating system also. The 10 point scale is very helpful so that the user knows the reliability of a station also. I like that it is constantly updated by users for real-time information on the status of charging stations. Of course, the only drawback is also that it relies on the check-ins of users for the info. Also, if someone checks in, you can communicate with them through the app if you need the charger.

beautifully designed. I have a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach E. We have been mainly using the car for in town travel, but lately we have been planning trips. This app is beautifully designed. I began with the website and on my laptop. You start by putting in your final destination, and then it shows you little icons along the way. If you are looking for only fast chargers, focus on only the orange icons that are along the way. And then when you click on the icon, you can either add it to your trip or very importantly can bookmark it as a favorite. There is both a website, which is where I was doing my trip planning, and of course the app. Compliments and thanks to the designers!

Great! Very responsive development team. THE standard for this.. Updated: 9 years using PS and it has become the go-to for finding chargers and sharing charger status with other EV owners. I have had 3 EVs and the Trip Planner feature is incredibly helpful for short range EVs on long distance trips. They even listen to user feedback and add requested features! Love the ad-free version for a very nominal fee. Wished it was available for the website. The point here is the dev team listens to their users and that is always a win for all. Happy EVing!

Still not showing all stations. For some reason this app just will NOT show any Electrify America chargers. I have checked my settings, logged on/ off, checked filters, changed settings, etc. I’m not sure what other chargers it’s neglecting to list. I can’t rely on an app that’s not working as it should especially when on road trips. Disappointing. UPDATED: All of the suggestions by the developer had been tried. Repeatedly. Filters were cleared, app reset, It was even set to accept all charger types, even ones that were not compatible to my car. The app did not show chargers in my area, even one station where I was currently charging. I’ve moved on.

Would be brilliant if not for one nagging issue. This nagging issue is: only ChargePoint is showing up in the app. I have DnR’ed the app twice, all filters are set to show all, and still, only ChargePoint is visible. Only after entering the address of other chargers do you see them. This app worked well on first install. I setup a trip, really easy, including all chargers I needed. Then, when doing a second trip back to my home, only ChargePoint were visible. I had to go to the other app(s) to get the address and enter each stop manually. I may return if this issue is fixed, but I feel a universal EV trip planning app is a fallacy at this stage. It is better to plan your trip using Waze/Apple Maps or other mapping system for now.

Great App But Mapping Needs Serious Improvements. PlugShare user since buying my EV in 2019. Well done, an essential app for all EV users. Biggest pro: it’s awesome showing the type, few, location of charging stations available around you when in a non-familiar city or location. Biggest con: The mapping function could use some serious updating and improvement. When traveling long distances I have to map out my required charges on Plugshare’s mapping tool. But when I’m in the car, I have to run both PlugShare and Google Maps at the same time so I can see in live-time where I am in relation to upcoming charging stations. My recommendations for maps would be to show my car movement live, on my pre-planned Plugshare map, like Google Maps does; add a button or mechanism to update current distance to a selected charging station in real time (I currently have to create a new map every time I want to check my distance to a pre-planned/mapped charging station); and update the map UI, it definitely feels outdated, almost early MAcintosh/MS-Dos like.

Hillsborough, NC to Durango, CO. Plug Share haas made trip planning interesting and fun. As you are aware, long distance travel requires careful consideration of your charging stops. This trip ze will see the Bolt fully loaded including a rooftop carrier and a spare tire. With the hot August temps and uncertain weather, I have reviewed many potential stops along the way. The reviews from website users are very up to date and helpful. I can’t wait to get started. Plug share is one of the cheapest anti anxiety medications on the market!

The worst EV app and chargers. The whole point of an app connected to a charging network is to simplify the experience of owning an EV. If you want a smooth experience, I recommend EVgo or ChargePoint. Download this app only if you’re an app developer so you can explain how to rebuild this from scratch or if you’re a glutton for frustration. Registering is like running into the walls of a maze. Using the chargers is next to impossible unless you have a fob you can use to connect to the charger. Trying to connect from the app (once I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to do it) yielded multiple failures with no explanation of the problem and no way to go back to fix whatever problems arose. You have to go back to the beginning. There are no directions on the chargers themselves, and the 800# led me to a customer service agent who had no idea how to solve my problem. The aggravation of the entire experience made me question why I bought a Leaf. This company made the range anxiety nightmare of every EV driver come to life.

Favorite for finding Chargers. This is probably *the* best app for locating chargers of any kind. It's ability to apply filters to find only fast chargers, or only free chargers, or if road-tripping and you only want chargers at hotels, etc. This is the way to do it. Also... while other apps tell where a charger *should* be, the community of PlugShare users is great about telling you how to navigate to hard-to-find chargers (e.g. not easily visible when you reach the location ... such as in a parking deck or hiding behind a building, etc.). Also also... great at telling you which chargers are actually reliable.

Looks like a charging station. The charging stations and the app are useless. I wonder if they are funded by oil companies. It is impossible to download an app deep in a parking garage. Their station wouldn’t take my credit card by phone. Then when you do get the app, what’s the first thing you want to do? Create an account and link a credit card, right? Nowhere on the app is it obvious where to do this. It should be right in your face. Instead there are lots of menus to explore, with no options to sign up. My Prius Prime is, as we speak, sitting in a charging space, plugged in and ready to go. But not charging due to poor software. Congratulations on having installed some pretty blue lighting. Totally useless for solving global warming.

In general, a great app. Mostly, it’s good. I do have a few nitpicks, though, that would improve it: 1. Show the dates on all photos (even those with captions) and let us sort by date or popularity 2. Address the performance issue after using it to check lots of stations. The app becomes slow and the phone gets warm. Usually force-quitting the app resolves the issue. 3. A reputation system would be very nice. Allow upvotes (only, no downvotes to prevent bullying) for comments, pics, maybe even updates to station details. 4. Trip planner needs work. There should be a “back” to change the settings for the trip (car, locations, ranges). The ranges should be clearer about what they mean and how they’re used. It should allow multiple destinations. 5. Being able to be notified about new stations “near me” is nice, but I’d rather be notified about stations near specific OTHER places (work, relatives’ homes, etc.). 6. The check-ins should show the station the submitter picked, if they picked one. Again, mostly the app works great and is a wonderful tool for all of us. Thanks for making it and for helping us all out!

Stranded and responded to like it didn’t matter. If your app is down and people rely on it, you have to tell them. Not having enough “fuel” to get from one place to the next is a big deal. I was stranded and have to rent a car because of the lack of consideration from the company. Send an email to put up an error notice, like, duh? When I contacted them they took a week to respond and then down played how their mistake affected me. Covid is not an excuse anymore, you all aren’t working in a factory your on your couch. It’s fine that errors happen but you have to be responsible for them and communicate them and not excuse them with privileged excuses. People rely on your service not having it causes harm. Being stranded somewhere is a big deal. I will no longer use this company and will actively tell people what kind of people operate it. I was literally gaslight and passive aggressively addressed about my concern.

Amazing resource. We’ve all heard about range anxiety when it comes to electric cars, PlugShare goes a long way in helping ev owners overcome some of that anxiety. Our car came with two years of free charging so we hit the road. 15,000 miles in less than a year, from our home in NM, we’ve been to the coast of VA and the coast of CA and many places in between. PlugShare was with us on every mile. Letting us know what to expect as we bounced from stop to stop. It truly helps being able to read reports from other ev owners that traveled the same roads and used the same charging stations. Thanks PlugShare.

Not good for Tesla owners. It doesn’t show superchargers. So you can’t use it to provide a comprehensive view of charging options nearby. You’d have to use the car’s built in map and this as a supplement to show other public charging options. I don’t see why this couldn’t be better. The filters are a bit weird and confusing too. In response to the developer who has answered this review - you say superchargers are included in the database. Okay, but they are not shown if you have the “hide restricted access” filter on. Which you would want on in most situations to avoid having useless non-public and non-accessible chargers showing up everywhere. But superchargers are not “restricted access” to a Tesla owner. And the app knows if the car to be charger is a Tesla. So you either (i) see superchargers along with a whole load of unusable other chargers in you area or (ii) don’t see them. The developer has been very active in responding defensively to my reviews and feedback. Energy that would better spent in making the app more coherent imo.

Charging at Panola Rd. I love this spot just off the highway on Panola Road. I come here sometimes in my way home to top up. They’re 3 charging stations here and a Tesla Supercharger beside this charging station. Charging is pretty simple and smooth. The funny thing is every time I come here there is a Tesla Model Y parked almost blocking on of the charging station. I’ve been here at least 4 occasions and this red Tesla Model Y is here every time. Beside this jackass that’s blocking the spot it’s a good place to get groceries or snacks. It’s clean and looks presentable.

trip planner needs work. used this for a trip from LA to san fran. i'd say the best way to use plugshare is to open google maps first and figure out in which city you want to make a stop, then go in plugshare and search that city. the trip planner is a good idea but needs work. you can't select multiple stops with the trip planner, and after you input your destination, a hundred chargers populate the map, covering all the names of cities and making it too difficult to figure out where to stop. what it should do is plan the stops for you, based on the distance your car can achieve, charger compatibility with your vehicle, max kw, hours of travel, and likelihood of open chargers upon arrival. but overall, i'm glad i stumbled across this. saw someone mention it on a forum.

Needs to fill the queue void. There’s really no point to checkins on plug share anymore, as only the same 4 people use it now. It used to be a courtesy to let people know roughly how long you would charge, but now 4 other cars are also waiting for the plug without checking in, sometimes in their car. An actual queue feature would help where cars that have checked in could be messaged in the app from the driver who is leaving so you can come plug in. This would potentially create some incentive amongst the courteous drivers who are willing to still checkin and communicate with each other. Otherwise I really can’t find any value here.

More PlugShare c. Hello, we need more plugs rin Southfield Michigan. Meijers at 12mile and Telegraph do not have a PlugShare. I ask Meijers to get a PlugShare in their parking lot. The Manager stated that’s what the Biden administration infrastructure plan is about. I stated, I have to walk with my groceries Across telegraph to get to my car at Nissan Motors where my car is connected to PlugShare. I also stated to the manager they needed a PlugShare. He said they can’t afford it. I said Livonia’s Meijers has several, and Oakland County was the 3rd richest county in America. Then he said he would look in to it. Please add several PlugShares at Meijers 12 mile and telegraph. I talk to a tall middle age handsome white man. Thank you so much. Sept 8, 2021 Patrine Rice

This is frustrating!!!. I live in the city of Houston and my apartment won’t let me plug into the wall outlet in my apartment, so I have to drive around the city of Houston when I’m traveling trying to find somewhere to plug my car in and it seems that every day charging stations are either broken, removed, or un accessible. I feel that you all in your pinpoint should reflect whether or or not that particular charging station is actually available to the public i.e. whether or not it’s in a residential apartment complex and it’s available to the public or at a hotel that has a gate or is someone’s business that is not accessible. I feel that your pinpoint should reflect so and it should be clearly stated so that a person running out of charge doesn’t drive around to all these different stations that are accessible. Otherwise it is a great app and very useful for planning trips and knowing where you can find charging stations along the way thank you very much.

Great planning tool but trip planning allows errors due to including Rivian only chargers. Used this app and the great web site to plan a trip from San Jose CA to Bellingham WA on a Harley-Davidson LiveWire. The elevation display really help assessing where more energy might be used beyond the distance. The plug available ratings have, so far, been correct Thanks for all the hard work on these tools! **** added The Rivian only charges shouldn’t be included until the “Rivian only”, like the “Tesla only”, filter can be added. This makes the trip planner less useful and easy to select a charger that you won’t be allowed to use. If I didn’t triple check and catch this I would have been stuck without an option. On the plus side Rivian owners shouldn’t have any issues I’m still giving PlugShare 3 stars since the app was the best way to confirm the route adjustment. Without the Rivian issues easily 5/5 stars

Still the best EV charging app. Not sure why others won’t sign up with an account?. I’ve been driving EVs since 2009, pre-dating J1772 public charging networks. I think I registered for Plugshare as soon as it went live. Having driven plugin cars exclusively since 2012, I can’t imagine laggards who are constantly complaining about shortcomings of other apps such as ABRP. Just register for Plugshare, learn all of its features and go about your EV journey be it a short weekend outing or a 4 week cross country journey. You can thank me later.

No user editing ability. Apparently, the ability to edit a charging station’s information has been removed from recent app versions. One of PlugShare’s great strengths WAS its crowd-sourced information by actual charger station users/customers. I tried to update a local station that recently added a Tesla plug, but I cannot find a way to edit. And the app’s Help feature provides inaccurate editing instructions that are apparently no longer available. Update: The developer has informed me that some station owners request that the users be barred from editing their listings. Good to know. I have three suggestions. First, I’d suggest that PlugShare develop a process to enable and encourage these station owners to keep their listings up to date (e.g. “New Tesla connector available at this station.”). If users can’t edit station info, the owners should make darn sure to update their listings to reflect changes in status and features. Second, the app’s Help function should explain that some stations may not be editable by users. (Currently, the Help function doesn’t mention this, and that’s unnecessarily confusing. Third, station listings should clearly indicate whether stations may or may not be edited by users right on the listing (perhaps in place of the edit button?). My rating stands at 3 Stars. PlugShare remains an essential EV app, but its usefulness has declined as a result of these changes.

A lot of data, but not good for price shopping. I’ve had 2 electric cars over the past 6 years, and while not using PlugShare frequently, it’s helpful for long trips. The have Aldine a good job of collecting data, either from user source or from scraping data off each vendor’s listing, it’s usually accurate. What I’m missing is live, visible price comparisons. Like the iCE equivalent of gas buddy, as charging companies start raising as well as implementing a more volatile pricing structure, they need to be able to easily show price/kWh as well as kW rate of charge potential.

Mostly awesomeness. Pretty solid app. It really takes away from the convolution of most other apps which are inaccurate (e.g. most apps don’t update stations permanently out of service). My only feedback is this: A generous chunk of users don’t check-in. The app also doesn’t show stations currently in-use. So if users don’t check in, and you can’t tell the station and use, you may find yourself driving to various stations without a general idea of whether stations are actually in-use or not.

Gave us flexibility and peace of mind planning routes across the country. Last month’s round trip between east coast and Kansas was our first in a new Model Y. In some areas like S Missouri good charging stations are scarce or nonexistent. Nobody wants to end up running out of juice and learn there’s no charging in range ahead-and backtracking is required. We carried cables and converters for all charger types, but never had to use anything but superchargers and lower power (and free) Tesla connections at several motels. Being able to map out entire 1500 mile northern and southern routes, planning for adequate charging and our overnight stops was pretty easy and confidence building. It took only an hour or so the evening before each of our 1500 mile legs. Then we were free to enjoy the drive and scenery with no anxiety. PlugShare is a very nice complement to Tesla’s on board navigation to one’s next charge station.

They take more money. So I used PlugShare for the first time yesterday. It automatically took $30 when I connected my car to the charging station. My change was actually free because the gym I go to gives 3 hours free and $5 an hour if you exceed that. I was only at the gym about 30 mins. When I went on the app to see if I had a remaining balance of $30 from the charge earlier and nothing! I can’t even find where the balance would be. I checked my email to see if maybe I received a receipt for the charge and nothing again! I am so upset that they don’t give a trace for the money taken and don’t allow you to see how much money is available on your account! I feel scammed!

My go-to EV charging app for when I travel!. Go-to app for EV charging when I travel! Most of the other charging apps are charging-brand dedicated. Plug Share covers everybody’s chargers, including private home chargers that you can arrange with the owner to use. The reviews by other users are also very helpful. Checking in and reviewing is really easy! This app is extremely handy both for on-the-go driving, and for trip planning. The only reason it gets four instead of five stars is because locating where YOU are on the map is not obvious. There’s a little compass arrow on the map that you have to press. It took me ages to figure that out!

Save money use this. If your in a bottle neck to save a couple bucks as always use these free ev locations suitable for your needs ,your in a rustle to feed your belly open the APP CHECK YOUR LOCATION, Don’t want to feed the government inproperable taxes , use the app save some Money I used this app couple times an it has adjusted to my understanding as an ev owner an the way to save every dollar thanks plugshare for this incredible app , the pinpoint location is easy accessible. Do not use app while driving. Please park an begin your journey with just a tap 😇

Must-have app for EV drivers. This is by far the best, most feature-rich, and most up-to-date charging station application. It includes chargers from every network, and information is constantly updated by a highly-responsive admin team. They have done a great job receiving my feedback and updating info so my local charging stations show up correctly. There’s even a feature where you can see how busy a specific charger is at different times of day, or receive an alert when a charger becomes available. If you drive an EV, you need this app!

Something needs clearing. The good: The only app that somewhat seamlessly integrates all charging company locations. The bad: Excessive and poorly utilized ads. As an advertiser I would not be satisfied with the “spray and pray” placement that PlugShare has chosen. As a user it is so obnoxious. I understand there is a paid version, but that’s a poor excuse for poor ad usage. The bad: My phone is old, I’ll give you that, but only on PlugShare does the app get slower and slower until it is unusable. When I close then reopen the app it works again for a while. This could just be my phone, but considering this is an isolated issue to this app I do not believe this is exclusively the cause. The very bad: The ads everywhere ruining menu flows and user experience. Do better PlugShare:)

Beats Google Maps easily. This is the one app that consistently tells me about charger locations and provides details to find them from any/all brands and providers. Community members can add comments if a charger is out of service or full, which is really helpful on road-trips. I just use the filter (funnel icon) to select charges suitable for my car. Google maps is improving, but experience has repeatedly shown me that Google is not always up to date. Even when Google gets it right, it provides little or no info on exact plug location, and doesn’t detail cost, hours of public access, etc. Plug Share users are the best! PlugShare users make

You gotta have it, but it could be improved.. Plug Share is basic for electric driving. It's the leader in car charging apps, letting you know at a glance where the nearest charging station is. The future of electric driving depends on an extensive publicly accessible charging infrastructure, and PlugShare is the way to connect to it. Since I wrote this two years ago, I've noticed a few wrinkles. For example, it's hard to figure out how many miles are between chargers on the map. A mileage indicators would help. And the trip planning function is difficult to use. For all that, though, it's the one service that unites all the difference charging providers on one map. I still say you gotta have it.

Great to find chargers but could be better. This is a great way to find chargers, a combination of data from station owners and crowdsourced data. However, it takes quite some navigation to find and filter data. Map filter allows me to filter by charge rate in kw. However most chargers have no data. Where do we input charge rate on a station for this filter to work. Currently it’s not really useful. I can filter the map by network but the most common networks in Denmark are not shown. Most of those shown do not even exist in Denmark. Almost all chargers go into the other category making this filter practically useless. Can more relevant networks be added to the filter?

Drive Electric!. Since 2011 I’ve driven an electric car! My goal like Wilbur Wright who answered hi family concerned about his safety, told them eventually you have to mount your fears to learn their tricks and secrets to be able to tame the beast. I feel that a person must drive an electric vehicle to learn truths about driving an electric car. The question one needs to ask is not how far the car can go on a single charge, but rather where you can charge it to be able to take a trip in it! plug Share is a part of that adventure!

PlugShare getting worse as Charging Getting better. Has more and more charging stations deploy, PlugShare gets worse. They don’t correctly identify power levels of each charger at a station. So when you have multiple stations to choose from and you’re looking for 150 kW or 200 kW, you can’t tell how many chargers at a station support that power, and how many are lower power 50 kW or 100 kW. Even for EVgo, who OWNS PlugShare!? so I don’t know which station to choose when trying to pick one that has multiple options. For other stations show charging power as 1-350 kWh instead of kW. They show idle fees as parking fees, which are not the same. Updating a checkin is buggy, you can’t update the charger number. The duration definition is totally unclear and doesn’t make much sense on the checkin screen because you probably don’t know the duration, and it’s only selectable in 15min increments. Many cars will do 23 min or 35 min. It’s like the people building the app do not actually drive EVs or charge in public much. I would give more stars if I were living/traveling somewhere with fewer stations. But in areas with a significant number of chargers, PlugShare just makes things more confusing.

Works great. UPDATE: I think my earlier issue was actually an Apple problem. The website is working normally now. And the password is being shared between the app and my iCloud Keychain, which was not the case before. Given that I haven’t updated the app in between not working and working, but I did reboot my phone, I strongly suspect something had gotten wedged in my keychain. Thanks to PlugShare’s support team for contacting me to track down the problem. Now it works great! Upping the review to 5 stars. Original review: The app is actually quite good, but the associated website manages to break Safari’s strong password generator/saver more thoroughly than I thought possible.

Can no longer filter by plug type. With version 6.01, on an iPhone, you can no longer filter by plug type so all charging locations now appear on the map regardless of whether they are compatible with your car and regardless of the speed of the charger. On the iPad you can still filter by plug type, but the filter settings are lost each time you run the app so you have to select the plug types every time. Also, while using the app, as you navigate arounnd and resize the screen, the filter settings are randomly lost and must be reset. What was once a great app isss now painful to use.

Not that helpful. The app does t tell you who the provider is for a given charging station. You often have to download the app and set up an account whilst at the station- tedious and assuming you have good internet coverage to do so. We are planning a 1200+km trip at Christmas and using the “plan a trip” option has only been marginally helpful so far

Really useful information but what’s with the map zooming with one finger?. Great information about chargers near us and on longer distance routes. Check-ins help us pick chargers that are likely to be working. But… the map zooms when trying to pan using one finger. That makes using the map almost unusable as it’s completely at odds with Apple Maps navigation. Or am I missing something?

Very reliable. A great app and easy to use. Gives me peace of mind that I can find accurate information about where charges are etc

Was good but latest update has ruined the app.. This was an awesome app to easily let other ev users know when they were charging, how long they were going to be and make comments on if there were any issues with the charge. With the latest update you now can only make comments. Bring back the old capabilities please.

Great app that could do with a few tweaks. Fantastic app, easy to use, but would love something where you could route properly, but other than that informative, quick and easy to use.

Trip planner is fantastic. We have a MG ZS EV with a range of 220kms, so planning charging stops on long trips is essential. Planning is made so easy by PlugShare. Great to be able to see all the EV chargers irrespective of providers, and great to read fellow motorists’ reviews and see their photos.

Predefined vehicles make specifications setting impossible. This looks like a great app, until you try to add a vehicle. You are presented with a long list of manufacturers and then models. If your vehicle is there, then you select it and should be all set to go. But you can't actually tell ... Lets say you have a Hyundai IONIQ Elite MY22. You can't find that particular vehicle in the list, so you select the closest one. Australia has a Premium that has the same technical specs but a different trim. You can only find the 2021. Its not clear if thats the "model year" or the "build year". You select it. Is it correct? You cant tell. The actual technical details of the vehicle you have selected are not displayed. Ok, well I know my vehicle specs, can I add a custom vehicle? Nope, no go. You'd have thought that this'd be a good way of collecting vehicle specifications, but no cant add your own and cant check to see if what you have selected is correct. This problem wouldn't be too bad if the database was correct. Unfortunately the Hyundai listings have models that I've not seen in Australia and don't use the model identification (eg MY22, build year 2021) that I have seen. How about you make the basic vehicle specifications visible so they can be checked and allow people to add their own custom vehicles? Then it'd be a great app.

A Buggy App. My wife and I are finding this app very buggy on both the iPhone and iPad. Checkins do not register. Checkout function disappears. Duplicate checkins from other users which indicates to us they have difficulty checking in and repeat trying with the resulting duplication. This app clearly needs more work by the dev team. Very average experience.

Good, but needs more thought and development. I’m order to get closer to providing a charging experience for all males and models the CarPlay experience needs some work. This app should absolutely include the ability to see if the charger is assumed to be available (based on check-in data) and the ability to check into a charger via the CarPlay experience. This would make it easy for people to check-in and then more likely to actually check-in which will provide your customers with more reliable information on if the charger is actually available or not.

The must have EV app.. PlugShare is perhaps the best app to have with your EV. It’s really easy to filter plugs that match your car, and find charging stations around you, with lots of community support providing information and reporting failed chargers. Trip planner feature is again invaluable, to find charging locations on your journey. Even if you don’t yet have an EV, this app is great at showing you just how dense the charging network is becoming, giving you more confidence to switch.

The one EV app you need to carry around. There’s no excuse not to check charger reviews when on a road trip or preparing to charge at your fav spot. Just don’t be a jerk and expect everyone to check in like you do.

Can only check in ‘successfully charged’ now. Worked well for years but months ago noticed option to check in as ‘charging’ and select duration no longer available. Other users still able to check in normally

Works well. Seems to have all the information needed to plan a route. Minor bugbear is that if you update your email it continues to reported as the old email within the app, even when logging in with the new email.

Great to be able to look up. No good on the phone to search. Very difficult to move around and search details on chargers.

Update has unimproved the app. Long term very satisfied user, but the latest update has some improvements but some fundamental problems. Main one is the checkin button. Now if you hit check in you get 3 options - charged successfully, could not charge or comment only. The only way to check in I think, is to leave a comment and then “check in” when you leave. Problem - people will be discouraged from checking in so it’s even harder to know if you’re heading for a charger thats in use, and less likely to be able to message people to get an estimate of the charge time they need

Dr Rock God to my kids one day when we go to time Wally’s world. What’s this problem product do Garry charge r staff stations your general General Genius just like me just light sole speed gone in 60 seconds Mustang s

Best App for Finding Recharging Locations. As promised in my previous review, I’m giving this app five stars now it has CarPlay support. It would be useful if it automatically/continuously centred the map around your current location rather than having to click the current location arrow though.

A must for road trips in Australia. Not essential around the cities, but once you hit the outback, and chargers become scarce, it is great. We used it to plan, read tips, check history, and contact users that are plugged in at 80%. It helped crossing the Nullarbor and exploring NW-WA. Hope there will be more chargers at, say, 200km intervals. Until then, please enjoy PlugShare and… do log-in.

Used to be great until they removed most of the charging stations.. Used to be great. But removed most of the charging stations. Feels like they tried to start charging for stations to be featured on the app. Doesn’t feature Evie or Chargefox anymore so essentially useless now. They should have tried to monetize the app without degrading its core purpose. Shame because it was really good.

Essential App. I’ve had the opportunity to do a long term test of a Nissan Leaf, and this app has been an essential part of my trip planning as I have traveled well out of the city.

Overall this app is perfect for ev owners. Easily find chargers that may not be visible from standard maps on your phone and get reviews and photos on each place. One problem I am having is that the some chargers do not appear on the map though they come back after a while

The best EV charge point finder ever. I have used this app for over a year now and is the best I have found. The user reports are great and the photos help with finding the charger location. I thoroughly recommend this to any EV driver. I would love to be able to use it with CarPlay. Is it possible to do this?

Very useful, specially for new EV owners.. This app was recommended to me by my mates who have EVs. It has been super helpful in helping me not only find compatible chargers with specs I’m looking for, but also getting an idea on how those chargers will be when I get there. I would love to see in the future the ability to see a history of demand on the chargers that they get data on. I know this is a big ask so not expecting it but would love to see it if possible.

Would be lost without this app.. There is no app I know of that does what this one does. Helps find car chargers anywhere. Mapping needs help but I use Google maps once I've found a charger so it works well for me.

Proper Dark Mode Icon + Liquid Glass. I’ve been using this app for a while and the core features work well, but the interface is starting to feel outdated compared to the rest of the OS. It really needs to be updated with Liquid Glass support. It also needs a proper dark mode icon, not just a ‘darker’ icon. Right now, the app feels flat and disconnected from the system's modern aesthetic. Adopting Liquid Glass would add that necessary depth and translucency, making the experience much more immersive and visually consistent with other premium apps. It’s a 5-star utility trapped in a legacy design. Hope to see this addressed in the next update!

Excellent app for EV OWNERS. If you own an electric vehicle you need this app. Easy to use and really useful for touring in your EV. Just be aware that you need an account to see all the information available and as it relies on member check ins the data quality can vary.

Latest update ruined ability to check in. Latest update seems to have removed the ability to actually check in whilst you’re charging. Given the whole point of the app is to show if someone is charging, removing this functionality and only able to add a “charged” status is kind of against the point..:

Not too bad. App works well on an iPhone but freezes on an iPad - ads are annoying but that’s life, I guess. Not sure when the app was last updated.

Car play candidate for sure?. Love this app, to make it even more perfect!, could we have it adjusted to work with car play? Just imagine if one could use it via Apple Car play, how perfect it could be.

Excellent Source of Information for charging locations. The PlugShare app provides the best information across all provides we have seen in the market. Information is validated by photographs to make it easier to find chargers. Comments on facilities around charges are also very useful.

Great, but needs a better rout planner. Great work on this app, but it would be very helpful if it would plan a journey for you, from charger to charger, in a way that is customised to the range of your vehicle and via the appropriate charters that suit your car.

Essential for new EV owners. I’ve borrowed an EV and found this app invaluable for helping me work out EV stations that are reliable and available (as so many aren’t). Range anxiety is a real thing and this app has saved me!

Mandatory app for EV Drivers in Australia. PlugShare is an invaluable app for finding EV charging stations in Australia. There is no other app that brings the diverse information together about location, number of plugs and reliability. I always check PlugShare before planning a trip which uses new EV chargers as users leave comments about their experience and whether the charging station was actually in service. This is essential information when you travel to regional towns with only one charging station.

Essential. If you have an EV, you absolutely need this. Find all the places to charge your car. And, if you happen upon a new charging point as the infrastructure expands, you can add details to share for others

Obviously made by EV drivers!. Fantastic and unique features. Takes all the work and stress out of planning a long distance trip. The Check-In notes are very handy!

An integral part of my EV trips. PlugShare is my go to app to find local chargers and is extremely helpful for planning longer trips where I’m not familiar with the charging stations. I’m currently using PlugShare on my first 2000+kms trip. User comments about individual chargers are important and help me plan around chargers that aren’t working. It would be great if more people checked in and commented. Perhaps PlugShare could team up with charging networks and offer monthly prizes, such as a charging discount. PlugShare isn’t always accurate about charger availability or about my car’s projected charging time, which may affect the availability data.

Handy but needs work. Great to have a single point of info on charge stations. I haven’t been able to set my home charger type correctly to Type 2. This doesn't seem to be an option.

PlugShare failing to find stations. Just recently, I have discovered PlugShare has failed to find charge stations. To verify that I searched for known stations in Kyneton and Woodend and it could not locate them !!

Does what it says on the pack. If you’re an owner of an EV you can’t go wrong with this app. In most cases I’m finding it even supersedes apps for even Chargepoint as it gives you access to all available technologies in your immediate area.

Really useful. Interface is good. Having just bought my first PHEV. I have no idea how to do anything other than charge at home. This app is really helpful at getting my head around all the different stations and which which ones work for my car. After selecting my car, it filters out the unusable stations. The photos and descriptions for each station are helpful for me whilst planning a road trip.

Connecting the EV Community. PlugShare is a great way to get updated information on the status of EV charging stations. It also allows EV drivers to connect and get the most and latest information on the status of stations.

Trip map issue. Hi. Love this app. First time planning a big trip and it was working great until I updated the app. Now when I move the map when editing a trip the app shuts down. This happens on an iPhone 17 and an iPhone 11. Please fix. Thanks

A real life saver. This is an amazing app . Since the Australian Gov (as of 2020) are quite backward in it’s efforts to support renewable energy- this app is a life saver for people that can’t wait around for the government to set up a comprehensive charging network across Australia

So many not working. Difficult to find - directions not accurate enough and most are not signed so we are constantly looking for them - most are hidden behind buildings . More accurate locations appreciated

Tesla model 3. Very helpful , works much better than other apps as showing availability of stations and especially planning for a trip , Definitely will recommande it to everyone .

Where are so many of the missing ChargeFox/NRMA/QldElectrics?. Planning a trip with PlugShare is almost useless if you haven’t checked the chargers from Google Maps or the charger companies’ apps. Nothing to be seen on the Gold Coast, The Farm at Ewingsdale/Byron etc. Have they failed to pay PlugShare to be included? Don’t trust PlugShare, go to Googlemaps if nothing else.

No CCS2 Option for Europe or Australia/NZ. Filters don’t match the plug options in the country the user in in. They are based only on the North American plug choices. Also all the plug icons like for supercharging are the North American plug but Europe and Australia/NZ use CCS2. Makes it difficult to know if a particular charging station will be compatible with my car.

Minimal Features. The main reason I do not like this app is the lack of charge speed filters, the ability to hide “Customer Only” chargers or the option to set to Customer Only as that is different to Access restricted. I just want to find chargers that are 50kw+ and I have to pay to use…

Easy drive thru charge bays. Fast enough charging for us. Nice drive thru charging bays. Excellent. Identification of bays as A and B could be a lot clearer! Which chargers are 1 and 2 is very clear. The location in a shopping center carpark has advantages and disadvantages. The location is convenient to shops and services but at certain times of day, the access to the parking station can be very busy. It has some ridiculous entrances and exits and possibly the world’s smallest round-abouts. These are nothing to do with EV charging directly. It is a badly designed shopping center carpark.

Handy. This location is very easy for me to use coming up to Melbourne from Traralgon. More expensive than the rest but has all the conveniences :-)

Great app but…. Great app but last update removed filter by plug type which is a huge bummer for me. Now we have to use the slider which is no good for me. Liked it better the other way (if there is a reason for the change, would be nice to be able to pick which one we want. I need wall plugs and jt-1772 only… and don’t care/know about kw ratings…

Displayed distance. It would be great if there was a feature that allowed you to check distances between charging stations.

Last update. Cannot enter address for route planning since update.

ChargePoint feed is unreliable. Hi PlugShare, the ChargePoint stations in southern Ontario are not always appearing as they should in PlugShare. I understand there is an automatic feed to the PlugShare app, please refresh or look into the connection. Thanks!

Hidden fees.. I am absolutely disgusted that I was charged $33.60 as an idle fee when the charging had stopped. I was in an appointment and could not unplug until afterwards. I have never seen this at any other charging station. There is no contact information to even dispute this fee. That is a total ripoff. You should totally be ashamed of yourself taking advantage of the customer. In all the time you have been operational the ports have never been fully used. In fact regular cars are parking in those spots and they are not being charged an idling fee.

Black interface. Thanks!!!

Can’t filter for working Chademo. There’s lots to like about this app, but the inability to filter for working Chademo stations is a problem if that’s your car type. Filtering for Chademo brings up lots of dual CCS/Chademo stations, and they don’t show as broken unless both are broken

Innovation. Innovation all the way

Needs work. Decent app for its listing of charging stations but sorely needs user interface improvement. Rating and charger identification not intuitive and sometimes just straight useless. Route planning section is however, really poor. Comes up with route suggestions but to compare you have to accept on and if it proves bad, there’s no ability to go back and choose another. You have to re-enter from scratch. It’s also poor in visibility and no ability to quickly see the charger capacity. So while it’s decent for its charger listing, it’s then nit useful and you have to switch to Google Maps etc to plan a route.

Virtually useless. “Network issues” prevent me from checking in. Virtually Useless. And now you’re shilling me for a subscription? lol

FLO Ulta. My first use of FLO ultra - got speeds of up to 130kw (@25% SOC) on 2024 Equinox - so decent for that vehicle.

PlugShare. Depuis la semaine dernière, je trouve que l’application PlugShare draine ma batterie à chaque fois !!! Vos programmeur ont pas éter vérifier par un département d’assurance Qualité ! ! Mario ☹️

Confusing not easy. Can’t find info re driving in winter

Leaf plus 22. I use Plug Share to reliably find chargers when I’m on the road. I rely on it to find chargers when I’m in unfamiliar areas and their availability. It’s irreplaceable!

PlugShare is great!!. 5 stars for PlugShare

Last update screwed up pics. Ever since the last update, the pictures look stretched and broken. Whatever you did fix it.

Doesn’t show all station. This app may have been made with the right intention, but it is definitely not being maintained. One has to go to a different different accounts to see different charging stations. This app doesn’t seem to be functioning anymore.

Best Application for EV-Drivers. Very comprehensive mapping of all EV-Charger stations. Thank You ChargerCrew

Reliable. Good reference for EV plug info

Plug share. Pratique facile à trouver les bornes

Inaccurate availability. Station availability in the app isn’t accurate…app showing only 1 fast charger available in all of Brockville, Ontario…arrived in town to find 4 available at one location, and happened to speak with someone who had walked over from another location who reported that 5 of 7 were available over there. A day later and they’re all still showing as unavailable. Reset my filters and made no difference.

Life saver!. Saved me!

Best way to look for EV chargers!. It’s so informative and usually the attached pics are truly helpful!

Chargers stop after a minute. Worst experience

“Network Error”. Can’t seem to check in or submit any feedback about locations, at all. Keep getting “network error” when I hit submit. Not really helpful.

Very useful app. 5 stars if I can do more I will give you 100 stars 🎉🎊🎇

Seems to be unusable. Cannot sign in, cannot check in, nothing. I keep getting an error message

Confusing. More information is needed about details. I got denied from a Flo charger, and it’s not clear how to even become an authorized user. Others don’t show price or what app or subscription is needed. It’s very confusing, and when it says free charging it’s typically reserved for employees, students or whoever has been authorized.

Le meilleur!. Le plus fiable et complet pour les emplacements de bornes de recharge.

iOS version needs work. When I’m on the road I rely on my iPhone and find this app to be useless. I couldn’t figure out why it got so many glowing reviews until I realized those reviews are for the desktop version. I found Google Maps’ “chargers on the route” capability to be far more useful on long trips.

Must have for EV drivers. This app is a huge help for planning road trips with an electric vehicle, checking charger availability at DC fast chargers and at hotels.

Don’t show plug share locations. I don’t see any plug share locations. I think, you should consider app referrals benefit program, as it spreads to more owners and benefits you.

Not Intutive. App, just not working

Awful App. Hard to navigate the app. Doesn't let you select only fast chargers. At least I can't figure it out!

Works well in my city, where municipal installations are all Flo. Not too sophisticated. I really like the notification when free. I hate the twin chargers on a single pole: I can’t charge in the front one, as the cord won’t reach. They are vacant at least 5x more frequently than the rear chargers.

Great App. I have used PlugShare for years. It is easy to use and helps me find chargers when I travel.

Useless app. Filed with historically long gone chargers and incorrect information. Miss applied private-for resident usage only chargers as public. Lists dealership chargers that don’t allow non-brand customers usage as public chargers. Makes it look artificially inflated and zero help.

Best EV Charging App. By far

Horrifying. Maybe get someone to test this system. Login sucks. Add payment sucks. I just want to: 1. charge my car and 2. pay you money I’m 39 minutes deep in on day 2. Wish me luck friends. 🍀

Helpful !. This app helps me find charging stations better then anything else! Would definitely recommend.

Fix your filters they don’t work.. Fix your filters. They don’t work

Not user friendly. Not user friendly at all. The app needs payment to not watch ads. Ridiculous

Good concept but many usability bugs. I’d pay for it if it was a one time purchase but not going to pay monthly! There are other free options with better user interface and no advertising.

Helpful. I love this site. It’s a great way to share and exchange information for plugs, not just for ev. This literally saved me for battery protection mode on a cold night.

Scam!!!. DO NOT ISE THIS APP!!! When you enter your credit card they charge you $50. Even though it states that you won’t be charged anything to your card.

Not useful so far. All locations it shows are controlled parking lots and not accessible to public users.

4 shell chargers. Setting up the app for shell was a bit of a pain chargers are pretty slow but good for the time we went to a restaurant and cheaper than parking on the street

Not good for Alberta. I thought this app was great until I downloaded other apps and found that there’s a whole bunch more options for charging than what this app will show you. It’s basically useless. Maybe it’s in other regions, but in Alberta, it was not helping.

Great app. Very useful for our Leaf! :)

THANKS PLUG SHARE!!. I just came to Annapolis on my EBIKE, from about 30miles away. I had one dot of juice left. I figured “I’ll find a spot when I get there!” Easier said than done! Well 10 seconds after firing up the app, I found this parking garage with 10 receptacles specifically for electric vehicle charging(120v receptacles) . And additional charging for other cars on upper levels. So nice, I can cruise back home and can make this trip again without any worry!

Simply lifesaving. Honestly with my Nissan Leaf Plus I can’t think of any app that I depend on more than this. I plan my trips and check charger reviews and enable notifications about chargers when I’m about to start a trip so that I get a heads up about charger issues. I would so much love a CarPlay version of this if Apple would allow it, but even as it is now the app is amazing. Update: with the CarPlay support added this app is amazing. Thank you!!!

Purchase beware. I love all the EV applications out there the draw back on these applications is the power draw that has been occurring ever since I downloaded them I don’t know why this would be occurring so if you download any of them I Recommend turning off the background app refresh in each one so they don’t drain your battery on your phone I currently have an iPhone 11. I had a full charge and with in 1 hour it was gone.

$$$$$ PlugShare… I have a business idea for you.. PlugShare, you should offer an offline downloadable version of your app to be used without internet connection. Or a desktop version that is also downloadable. I’d be willing to pay $30 for that feature. Maybe $30 one time payment and $10 for each update afterward? I know lots of EV owners that would love to have an offline version saved incase they don’t have service (or those just digital prepping)

Great consolidated app- Apple Watch a plus!!. This app is personally my favorite. I don't care what brand I charge at I just want to know if the station works!! This site makes checking in super easy. I have found the ratings and color scheme to be clear and concise. Eventually it would be great to be able to open your blink or ChargePoint account from this app so you could start charging via the watch or your phone. But hey- this is overall a really slick app!

Good visibility-wish we could filter. Great app to find all charge stations from all brands in your area. really helped us track down where we could go to charge. Wish it would provide the availability of the stations and a filter. Filtering by fast chargers or charge type and available stations would really be useful. We had to then log onto Brand website to check availability.

Useful but not always sure it's up to date. This is a helpful tool, but I'm not sure I can count on it being up to date. It would be great if we all pitch in and give updates on the charging stations' statuses when we charge so everyone knows what kinds of plugs are available, if it costs money to park in the structure (aside from the possible cost of charging your vehicle, etc.). I'll try to do my part to keep the app information up to date.

Could be better on iOS. The app is great and the thing that i love is the really active community, On the world and in Costa Rica! But in iOS version you cannot open the route on Waze or google maps or i haven’t find out maybe? Also that the app doesn’t have GBT charger to add it to the charger point, because here in Costa Rica, ICE’s (Electricity conpany) fast charging points have CHAdeMO, CSS/SAE and GBT, Of course GBT is included in the description of the charging point, Thanks for reading

Great App for EV Newbies. We took our first road trip (300+ miles) in our new Audi Q4 etron, a vehicle with decidedly limited range, amd a subject for another review elsewhere. On our in-bound trip we tried to find fast chargers using Google and Google Maps and it was extremely time consuming and frustrating. Prior to our return visit we used PlugShare and found the route planner and search filters to be incredibly useful. Get this app!

Thank Goodness!!!. Being the first person in my family and all of my social groups to get a fully elective vehicle, this app has been a life saver!! I have been able to do my research and find the best places for me to charge quickly and conveniently— and lost often for free 🙌🏼 ..would definitely love to have a level two charger at home one day, but for now, this app has been a life saver 💗🙏🏼👍🏼

Good, but a few glitches yet. Shows where chargers are, what type, and if in use or not. All good! When it’s inside a parking garage, it doesn’t say so. This presents a few problems: It often means driving around a block to deduce the charger is inside. Then it doesn’t say what floor it’s on, which means you have to drive around the garage, searching. Worst, many businesses close their garage after hours, so there’s no access.

Mexico 2019 is same as USA 2014. Fiesta Inn is one of the few chains already ready to embrace the EV revolution in Mexico. They are early in the learning curve but eager not to make some of the early mistakes we had in US. Food and service are excellent. GM quick to respond when one of the chargers stopped working. Close enough to border to arrive to not be desperate for charge. I definitely plan on stopping by again, even if it is just to say hi and grab an amazing authentic Mexican meal :)

App is no longer an objective source. This app is a great concept, but unfortunately, it has been taken over by the charging providers. It no longer provides objective information. There are many reviews that are fake. I have tried to contact several check-in reviewers by sending them a message, but somehow, when I click send on the message, the app reports an error, with no explanation. These “bugs” only happen on certain reviews, which any human can tell are fake. There are also many times when I have tried to add stations, or check ins with details, that immediately get remove the next day. Who is removing them?

Jason from Hobe Sound is Life saver. I was in Melbourne,FL @ 452 New Haven recently installed FPL Evolution stand -alone charging stations. I was 100 miles from home. The first person wanted to send me a form to fill out. There were 2 other gentlemen there at the same place and time when Jason phoned back; worked some magic and we three were on our way home happy EV users and new friends . I forgot to mention how FAST the charging session took!

Finding the free juice. I bought this Volt with gas over $5 a gallon and knowing that I would be doing some significant travel over the next year or two. 52 miles range is plenty locally but for trips it’s a blink of an eye so plugging in becomes an anomaly saving some carbon footprint here and there for long trips. Plug Share brings the deep dive into a new world of finding the free with the pay.

Moderation of comments should NOT block comments posting !. PlugShare app is becoming less and less useful per the day. Posted comments are now moderated and no more published when they were just created ... so you can say goodbye to some of them and having the more up to date feedback. Also there is still no way to enter the time of your check-in ... it is taking the time stamp of the post which is not correct as you may be willing to post your feedback hours after your charging...

Trip planning is useless. I appreciate the list of charing stations, however accurate and up to date but probably the most comprehensive available. However, your trip planning feature is pathetically USELESS. Adding stops and reorganizing them along the route is either extremely difficult or downright impossible. Also seeing how charging along the way changes your SOC is not even programmed. Back to the drawing board!!

Helps with planning travel. PlugShare is the only app I’ve found that reliably offers info about a wide variety of charging stations. It helped us plan a road trip to Monterey and find available stations for our rental car in Boston. (We paid no $ to drive ~150 round trip to Monterey in our Ioniq 5 and ~$8.00 to drive ~300 miles visiting friends/family all around Boston in our rented Hyundai Kona.) When we needed a new car, PlugShare helped me feel comfortable ditching gas-powered cars and going all electric.

Peace of mind. This app gave me piece of mind when Tesla supercharger for the next stop wasn’t showing up on the map and then said it wasn’t available. I went to this app to find a backup and discovered that there were Tesla users using the supercharger that day and reported the station as open. We were relieved to find out that this report was true and it gave us piece of mind when we rolled up with 6 miles to go.

Only app that crashes my Xr. This app is trash. Extremely frustrating to use. Every time I open it it’s a Russian roulette on whether it’s going to freeze my phone for 5 minutes while I’m driving trying to find a nearby station. By the time my phone reboots I miss the exit. Whoever developed this app needs to rethink their career. Also the live data is 20% accurate majority of the time the station says it’s open, it’s not.

Used to be great!. Plugshare used to be go to for trip planning. But it recently was acquired and now, it’s not working properly. I can only pull up super charger stations. It Does not allow me to pull up any other types of charging stations. I have tried to reset settings several times it will also go through. Where I had to login again and start a fresh. Lastly, when the changeover happened, it deleted all of my trips that I had stored in PlugShare. I keep thinking that the PlugShare magic will come back, but it hasn’t yet and I am about to delete it as it doesn’t work for the purposes of trip planning anymore, since I can only see super chargers.

How can I check in on a DCFC’s performance if I can’t check in?. Wanted to check in at Strawberry Station General Store near Twin Bridges, CA (Highway 50 west of Echo Summit): Meda (left hand EVSE) started right up with RFID card, showing 36 kW. However, the app kept telling me either my email address was invalid, or there was a Network Error when I tried to reset password. The charger is working fine. But the main reason I use PS is to read recent check-ins to decide where and which charger to use.

Very good and getting better. Provides the most up-to-date info about charging station status and locations of any app I’ve tried. It’s even better at providing info about Electrify America than the EA app! Only wish more people would use it and provide notes on their experiences- which would make it even better.

This ap is a must have!. I have a tesla and even though super chargers are great they are not every where the community keeps this up to date and is the go to ap for knowing where level 2 and 3 chargers are It has helped me time and again in areas where no super charger exists I try to use it where ever I am to share what is working and what isn’t

Please add the new Apple Maps in the app. The plugshare app is a lifesaver when owing an EV. Super helpful! Love all integrations and the software dev team that make this app work! My only wish is for them to add the new upgraded detailed Apple Maps within the app. I recently experienced the new Apple Maps in other apps and the lookaround feature is super handy and the level of detail makes maps stand apart within apps. I think adding the detailed Apple Maps would help users of plugshare see where chargers are.

Plugshare and EVs. This application is invaluable if you have an electric vehicle and want to travel at all outside the radius of your car’s range. The app has allowed my wife and me to travel long distance in our Bolt. I have looked at other apps which are set up to do what Plugshare does, but Plugshare is much better! All you need is your EV and this app and you can travel!

I just love this App. I use PlugShare all the time to plan my route!! The Tesla system works great too and that is what I mostly use, but I also end up using PlugShare a lot too. I go on long road trips and I have never had a problem with charging. There is always a charging station available on PlugShare and it charges my car relatively quickly.

PlugShare is Invaluable above all Others. Thank you PlugShare for all you do that make free and super low cost Charging possible! With 11 Regional and National RoadTrips in the Chevy Bolt(ATL to Nashville and Back Regional and Portland, OR to ATL and ATL to NYC National as an example) and 91,000 miles including almost 2,000 DoorDashes and 600 Roadies all for the cost of about $7.50 in Fuel costs! The last time I paid for fuel to drive was in Kansas last October(2021) and since then I went to Buffalo, NY and the NC Coast for $0.00! Without PlugShare this would have been impossible!

Check in. Developers, please add to automatically show the charger number or ask to specify when a person checks in at a stall. That way we can see which stall people are having success or not at a particular charger. Right now when someone checks in, they would need to comment specifying which charger they are at. Other than the above, the app is accurate and working great!

Great! Very responsive development team. THE standard for this.. Almost 8 years using PS and it has become the go-to for finding chargers and sharing charger status with other EV owners. I have had 3 EVs and the Trip Planner feature is incredibly helpful for short range EVs on long distance trips. Recently, they seem to have taken my suggestion (I may not be the only one) to offer an ad-free version for a nominal fee. The point here is the dev team listens to their users. Happy EVing!

Improvements needed. On first blush the app very quickly routes to your destination based on the driving range estimated. I believe a great improvement would be to estimate the travel time and potential cost of each route indicated. I realize that there are many variables, but each station has a charging level, a charging price schedule, and your vehicle’s kwhr need. It would seem that a range of cost and time could be estimated: well “caveated”, of course! Good job

More Charging stations. I wish there was more charging station I wish when you plug in it automatically should see in the app that the time you arrive and how much time you’ve been charging The reason is because most people do not check in specially the Chevrolet bolts They never check in so when you arrive you don’t know how long they been charging

Many problems. Needed to charge (honestly didn’t even know they had a pay to charge option - I have a charge card with what must be every charge service besides them - blink, chargepoint, nrg, evgo, av, greenlots) but the charger I was at was only PlugShare. Couldn’t remember if I set up an account so did “forgot password.” I don’t think I had set up an account because I never got an email. Tried setting up a new account with the same email and that worked. Then when I went to charge the nomenclature of the two charge station options in the app did not match that of the charging stations in person. Very frustrating.

Must have for EV Charging. This is a must have app for all EV owners. I live in apartment with no charging option there so I mostly charge my car in Tesla Supercharger and Chargepoint but PlugShare has helped me find many other charging stations which are not on Tesla or Chargepoint network. The information and user reviews are extremely helpful. I wish somehow Chargepoint and Tesla could give real-time availability to Plugshare it would have been awesome.

Needs some improvements.. 1. The app is useless when there is no internet. Needs to have offline mode. 2. Instead of showing "you have checked in here", only show places where "you have successfully checked in here". I went to a place where I failed to charge because the app showed I checked in there and I assumed it meant successfully. 3. Show number of working plugs on the map.

Works great to fill in supercharger gaps when towing a trailer. This is my go to Tesla Model X app. I use it to find alternatives to Supercharging when towing a trailer with the X. And on road trips up to Seattle. I use it to check on local chargers and pay. For the AV network, Blink network, and Chargepoint I pay through those systems. I’m testing out the non Tesla charging infastruture and deciding who’s good and who’s a pain in the a**. PlugShare enables this activity. . Works great for finding chargers and checking in.

Missing stations. This has been my go to app for an overview of all stations across different charging networks for years. But a few months ago someone mentioned a station that didn’t show up on my iPhone version. Found out I must have unchecked the Requires Fee filter option. Unfortunately that seemed to me to mean when on only pay stations would be shown instead of pay and free. Perhaps that option could be worded differently?

Must have app for Ev owners. Easy-to-use app to find the nearest EV charging station and even pay for a charge (when necessary). You can even use Apple Pay right inside the app. Includes a great interface with appropriate kudos to those who are logging charging stations. See how well maintained and current status of the stations and let others know your getting charged.

New Electric Car Owner. I heard about the PlugShare app from a government website. PlugShare gives you a list of every charging station in California. I love it, though I wish it would be a little more updated when it comes to stations that so longer exists or the property owner decides not to fix the unit when people destroy it. Overall it’s a great app.

Lacks vital information. I just got my first EV this week, so I wouldn’t know if this wasn’t the case back in the day. But almost every station on the map I’ve seen so far has free parking, so that’s not a very useful field. Would be much better to know the going rate at that charger like Charge Point shows. It’s also great to find chargers from a lot of different networks in one place, but when I tap on one, it should say which network it’s on. They clearly have that information, since you can filter by different networks in the settings, just a add a label for it.

All EV and plug-in hybrid drivers should use this app. This app allows you to be courteous and share charging times with other people. You can text user to find out when they’re going to finish; leave messages concerning your vehicle; etc. i’ve used it when I haven’t been able to return to my vehicle in time to let others know that they can unplug my vehicle so that they can charge.

I Love This App but…. I’ve found so much value in this app. But, as far as I can see, it’s filtering can only be set based on your vehicle. My car comes with a plug-in charger. From my experience, if you’re on the road, a hotel that says they’ve got plug-in support is not terribly reliable. The person at the desk is not likely to understand the needs of a EV driver. Most of the time I’m on the road for long hauls, it’s in Pennsylvania, where there are few 1772 chargers but where there seem to be a million wall chargers. It would be glorious if PlugShare would allow filtering out wall-chargers. A simple request guys. If this were fixed, it would be a five-star app and I would bow down to you and leave something in my will.

Serious gaps in coverage. The app won’t “see” a charging station until I’m practically on top of it, like about 2-3 miles away. A list view that shows stations in a 5-10 mile radius would be really helpful, especially for those times you end up at an out of service charger and have to decide where to try next. That said, pics of the stations are invaluable since they can be hard to find.

Spotty coverage of high capacity networks. I have loved PlugShare and two years ago would have rated it 5 stars. After COVID, now trying to get back on the road in New England, it appears to have lost any info on EvGo and Electrify America networks. These are critical high capacity network stations for traveling. A level 2 (or even a 24kW DC) charger is not going to get you back on the road in a reasonable timeframe. I have had to fall back on those specific apps just to even locate their charging stations. Please try to restore these key networks to your app database.

Great Idea Possibly?. Tie my vehicle in as WiFi hotspot, wireless charging station and idk.. possibly connect to mi cloud of thus of wind be me as best as could be thus imagined to be such much easier than jockalocka of infinite actually physical storage thrust? I mean, cyto quantum sepremecly speaking of course of which we know actually may or may not numerate to like um.. us.. with maybe all other things aside like um storage of all such things that would be of what we care to possibly even think to have to remember? 🤪

Linda. Great app! Concise info on type of plug and where to find it. Photos and explanations by users of exactly where in the parking garage the plug can be found, so you're not driving around in circles looking for it. Use the app for advance planning or when you end up somewhere unexpected and want to see if a charging station is in range. Made what initially seemed like a daunting task, finding stations, really easy and stress-free.

A nice addendum to other company charging apps.. I like using Plugshare to find out what options I have that aren't Electrify America. It's nice to get free charging for my ID.4 but sometimes their infrastructure is not comprehensive. I like that people are pretty good about adding pictures and reviews. That's super-helpful when trying to find chargers in unfamiliar places. I have had pretty good success using Plugshare to pay for charging sessions as well.

Great app, could use more review details. Great app, I use it often! More granularity in reviews would be the most useful feature, sometimes I pull up to a 10.0 location but only one unit is working, CC reader broken, etc. people were technically able to charge so the unit gets full marks. I’d love a “I could charge but had big issues” option with an associated score hit. I think that would show more realistic numbers for working but poorly maintained stations.

Desperately needs update to scoring system. Devs please add additional check in options or allow user scoring. A successful charge does not necessarily mean the site is operating as expected. I suggest adding “Charged with issues” as a check in option and score at a 5. Too many sites have a score of 10 due to successful charges but many site issues like frequent ICE-ing or derated chargers or broken stalls. The user may be able to charge but the score does not communicate the issues associated with the charge.

Good for long distance trip planning. I use it to check out charging along the route and has given me the confidence to drive long distance knowing what’s ahead. It’s also very helpful to find out about issues at stations, specific quirks/tips about locations, etc., based on check-in feedback by other users.
