Great app for climbing. Works really well to track your climbs, the difficulty and your heart rate all from your watch!

Saving Issues. Great app, but I too experience issues saving. Several app restarts and stopping and starting the session seems to eventually get it to work. Would be great if there was a fix. Otherwise, great app! Update: Nick is great to work with. He was very responsive and my saving issues are resolved!

Great for climb logs. Love this app, it really makes it easy to swiftly log a climb without having to open your open. The only thing I don’t like is that for the iphone widget, there’s no way to specify if a climb was an attempt or a send. I don’t have an apple watch so I can’t long press/short press on the lock screen widget.

Great but one issue. Awesome app but it keeps weirdly resetting my climb time but keeps my climbs active. Which also resets my calories and I’m not sure if that syncs. I like to keep track of the time and if I don’t remember where I was at this throws everything off. Love the app but would be great if this was fixed

Close to perfect! Please don’t add bloat!. I tried a few other climbing apps, and this one is by far my favorite. Please keep the app simple and don’t add unnecessary features that will bloat the experience! I actually don’t think I need to know my total vertical feet climbed - especially for bouldering. If you did add it, I’d like the option to turn it off because it’s just not accurate enough to be useful and I feel like it clutters things up. Some sort of “score” that estimates my skill level would be really cool to see on a graph over time.

Great but need 1 thing. Apple Watch series 4 and 5 circle icon is super small. Needs updating to be correct size. I keep the app on my workout watch face.

Doesn’t worth with iPhone SE. The app doesn’t resize for different iPhones. On my iPhone 6, on the widget screen, you can barely see the end session button. On iPhone SE, you can’t see the end session button at all. Makes the app completely unusable on iPhone SE. I literally have to delete the app to end the session.

Dead simple to use. This app is great. It does exactly what it claims to do, and it offers enough options to customize without being overwhelming or fiddly

Pinnacle Rocks!. Love the app. Excellent work! The developer is very responsive to feedback and has built a great application. I use it every session at the gym!

Perfect bouldering app. This is exactly what I was looking for in a bouldering app—very easy to record successes and attempts, track progress, and log the workout, all while leaving the phone in the locker room (so I’m not tempted to read work email, or worse, have an injury hazard laying around on the mats). Love this app—great contribution to the climbing world. Thanks!

Just what I needed to log routes. Good app with just the right features

Awesome but.... Been using Pinnacle for a couple months now. It works 90% of the time, but that 10% where it doesn’t save your session is frustrating. I thought the update had fixed it but alas my last session was not saved. Otherwise, super easy to use, and I love the updates that I’ve gotten just in the short time I’ve been using it.

Best simple logger out there. This app is great for logging climbs. Would love an outdoor session option for sport lead. The data analysis tools aren’t there yet, but there is an export tool for making better and more helpful visualizations.

App has bugs after update. App was working shortly after download but after last update when I click Stats the app crashes every time. Also lost a full session on my watch due to app having black screen when trying to open and had to reinstall app to get it to work again. Will be happy to give 5 stars if fixed!

App crashes. App crashes and resets mid-workout. Deletes data. Sometimes deletes today routes saved, sometimes deletes calories burned. Disappointed with it. I use the app with an Apple Watch Series 3

Perfect Climbing App. Integrations work seamlessly. Easy to use and has just the metrics and note taking I need.

Just lost my move streak because of this app. I just lost my 50+ day move streak because of this app. I climbed this morning and then went through the rest of my day, easily passing my move goal. Then I saw this app hadn’t finished saving my climb. I opened it up on my watch and it completed saving, wiping out my move progress for the day. It’s now 10pm, so I won’t get it back. Screw this app.

Not saving workout to the Activity app. Just got an Apple Watch and have found that after using the Pinnacle app to log my gym sessions, it did not share/save/export any of my sessions to the Activity App. Even with that option toggled to do so. Work around is simple enough (start “climbing” activity in the activity app whilst simultaneously logging my progress in the pinnacle app), but at that point I’m spending more time on my devices than I’d prefer when I could just be focused on climbing.

Keep the good work. Good app - I started using it and it feels good. However a couple of improvements would be good: 1. There is now easy way to mark if I was successful in flashing or on-sight or failed a climber from the widget. I need to end the workout and then add notes to it and mark the individual climbs. It would be good as I come down I could mark the climb somehow. 2 the app track timing overall but it doesn’t track time of the climb itself making difficult to understand how much endurance workout have you actually accomplished in lead or top roping - ideally I would like to tap the widget at the beginning of the climb and at the end of the climb and separate rest time from climbing time 3. It would be good if this app would be compatible with other sport watches and heart rate monitors outside the Apple Watch. I use Garmin and their heart rate monitor which records on the apple health but not on your app. Keep up the excellent work and let me know if I am missing something related to this feedback- Best

Updated review 11.20.20. Updated review: On my Series 2 watch, the app will sometimes try to open then crash (take me back to my watch face). I closed the watch app manually and even turned my watch off completely and back on and I still get the same result. Somehow, the Activity app captured the workout but it doesn’t show the session in the pinnacle phone app. I don’t seem to have this problem with the series 4 watch. Old review: Latest update as of 01.30.20 version. Apple health records fine but the sessions in the app didn’t sync....yet. Maybe when I wear my Apple Watch I use for climbing next time it will show? It was almost instantaneous in the last version. Old review: Much improved with synchronization with phone, Apple health calorie count and correct session count when changing disciplines. Thanks! Old review: Whenever I change disciplines during a single session, it creates a new session instead of adding to the original. The health entry will show the correct calories burned but only the amount of time since the last discipline switch so I have to add the extra time manually. Also when the phone app is closed, it still syncs but only health shows the session not the app until I put the watch back on (or something along that order).

Awesome. Strava integration is great.

Finally, an app to track my climbs!. Great app! Hope other enjoy it as much as I do!

Cannot open app. I purchased and was very excited to use. I had problems opening the app on my iPhone even though it did say it was compatible. I logged out and now I cannot log in or reset the password as the links are inaccessible under the keypad on my phone.

Don’t bother with an original Apple Watch. Can’t seem to launch nor save. Just keeps stalling out.

Works great, room for improvement.. The app works great on my Apple Watch Series 3. You start a session and tap the route difficulty after your climb to log it. Heart rate is tracked and workouts/calories are credited to your Apple Health data if you want. Super simple, but there is room for improvement. Sometimes I’m so exhausted after a climb that I forget to log the route. It would be very useful if the app could detect when I stop descending and give me a vibration to remind me to log the route. Even better, the app could take the approach that the Ski Tracks app uses to track skiing - it auto detects when you’re going up and down, logging metrics like vertical descent, descent rate, descent time, etc so you can get a nice overview of each of your runs. If that model was adopted, you would be able to see how you are progressing on a particular route over time (ie, am I climbing it quicker, how high did I climb on failed attempts, etc). Overall, would recommend 5/5 and I’m excited to see how this develops.

Love it. Works great with my Apple Watch and very simple and easy to navigate and use. Sometimes it glitches on the watch and it doesn’t show climbing grades. But you can fix it if you “change discipline” and restart

Amazing!. Just started climbing a couple months ago, and the thought of keeping a log book for the gym sounded tedious. The tie-in with the watch to provide an idea for activity, combined with the ability to log sessions, is amazing. One thing I’d like to see is being able to switch from bouldering to top-roping, as my gym has autobelays that make switching from bouldering to top-roping extremely quick. In between sets of boulder problems, I usually get in a nice easy route like a 5.7/5.8. It’s certainly helped my endurance, and would be nice to be able to log that without having to end and begin sessions. Even without that, it’s still a 5-Star app!

Great app, missing some features. I liked the app and it's pretty easy to use. Need some more basic features like easy to mark a climb a flash or repeat along with report on how many were flashed in a session and what is current flash level etc. Current way of marking a climb a flash is quite cumbersome.

Excellent app!. I love this app. I very rarely buy apps that aren’t games, but I took a leap on this one and it has paid off! I’m a newbie to bouldering and more than a little out of shape; completing a V1 is a huge accomplishment for me. I love the details this app gives me about my climb when I’m done, and that I can see my progress as time goes on. I’m also a UI/UX Designer, so not only do I love what it tells me about my climbing but I love the interface. The controls are perfectly minimal while still giving me the details I want.

First impressions. This looks to be a promising app. The UI is clean and nice. I didn’t at first realize attempts are logged with a long press so I’m updating my rating to 4 stars. Only 4 stars because I’m still having issues syncing my series 0 watch. I know it’s old so maybe unfair, but I’ll take up the developer’s offer to look at logs and hopefully will be able to move up to 5 stars.

Great simple app! Missing 1 feature that would make it perfect. Really easy to use, great integration with the Apple Watch. So easy to log a climb that I can have it logged before my feet touch the ground. The only thing I wish they had was an option for “finished” vs “sent” for the roped climbs. So that I could differentiate between routes that I sent in one go and ones that I had to rest on but still finished. You can do that in the notes, but from the watch it’s annoying to type a note so I have to remember for when I go back to my phone (usually at the end of a climbing session so I may not remember which climbs I rested and which I didn’t). That’s the only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5.

Decent, but fails to sync correctly. It’s good at what it does (log climbs), but it doesn’t do good enough. I’ve experienced inconsistencies in what the app shows and what HealthKit actually logs. One climbing session failed to report any heart rate, another session was missing almost half of the session (I think the app accidentally minimized and didn’t record anything while in the background). And just last night, the app only shows half of my recorded session between 7:30-8:30 pm and is missing about half of my logged climbs (while HealthKit shows the full session from 6:30-8:30 PM with heart rate data for all of it). Not sure where the problem lies but the developer has not been responsive. Phone snd AW7 are on latest versions, reboots of both haven’t solved the problem. It’s a big pet peeve of mine when data is not tracking correctly.

Functional and easy to use, could do more with data though. This app works well, looks good, and is intuitive. I do think there is room for improvement however, particularly in the statistics / data section. As is, I don’t think the app is making full use of the user data available for a given profile. Additional graphs and charts could be really helpful, potentially something along the lines of: average max grade over time (average top 3 per session), double column bar chart showing % tried and % completed by grade, ability to filter out grades (v0, v1, etc) from charts. The app Gneiss has some interesting climbing visuals that could be worth getting inspiration from. All in all good app though!

So handy!. As someone just starting to climb, this is great to see my progress! One thing I would like to see added is the ability to see “average” over time. For instance, I would see the average gradually rise over the last month, 6 months, 2 years, etc.

Great Design and User Experience. I have been looking for an easy way to make progress, and resorted to writing notes in Strava for awhile. This is very useful in tracking heart rates during actual climbing. The data is easy and pleasing to look at. I just want to say thank you for the attention to detail with the app. The one con is that I am struggling to connect it with my Strava. The “CONNECT WITH STRAVA” button doesn’t seem to work for me. If I could get advice on how to work around this, that would be awesome. Thanks again for such a great app!

Doesn’t work on watch 4 series. The app doesn’t show up on my app watch series 4. I can’t do any workout so it’s pretty useless until this is fixed

The numbers don’t lie. I love this app. It’s great statistics on my climbs and helps me keep an accurate count of the workout I’ve done. I recommend it to everyone at the gym. Works great on my series 2 Apple Watch. I wish I could see my heart rate during the workout is my only suggestion. I love that you added the ability to change disciplines mid workout. Thanks for making this app!

amazing. everything you want from a climbing app. it’s in this app. i’ve been looking for something for my apple watch to track my climbing as exercise and finally it can now!!!

Great with some feedback. Updated 1/13/23: Where did the widget go?!? Love this app but what I would love more is if it asked you before you completed a session. My boyfriend and I have both accidentally finished a session before we meant to and it’s a pain to edit it manually for each climb afterwards. Also, if there was a way to prompt you if you haven’t added a climb in a while that would be great. I frequently forget to finish a session and then have to stop it a few days later when I climb again messing up the data. Otherwise, I love this app. Having it on the widget screen is really really helpful.

App doesn’t save your sessions. The app worked fine for a few sessions. Afterwards it stopped saving my logged sessions. I tried to contact the developer but got no response.

Epic AF. This app is what I've been waiting for for years. No more excel spreadsheets !! :-D

great app but recent update broke it?. i love this app for tracking my climbs but i updated the app yesterday and now when i go to open it, it just shows a black screen. nothing will load ):

Does exactly what you want!. I didn’t even know I was missing an app like this. It’s perfect for gym climbing. Track your climbs and see you progress, and it also saves a Workout in Health. Very quick to use. The attempted long press is a little finicky with not activating 3D Touch, but it’s better than not having it or requiring an extra tap.

Excellent!. Have really been enjoying this app. Bought it as soon as I got my Apple watch and have been using it every climb no fail! Told a few fellow climbers at my gym too. Few suggestions if I could: I'd like it if the app could detect if I'm belaying between my climbs and mark this on the graph of so? It happened a few times that I'd leave the gym and forget to stop my workout. Could the watch buzz me if I go more than half a mile away, or something?

Great App. This is a great app for tracking climbs. Definitely worth the price, and works great on my watch. It would be really nice to have an option for a reminder to log climbs after lowering, and other stat tracking with the altimeter, but it’s still great without those features. 10/10 would recommend.

By far the best app for tracking your climbs.. The Apple Watch app makes it super easy to track your climbs, particularly marking those that you didn't finish. It is a great way to monitor your progress! The app functions properly and makes it easy to share visualizations of your climbs.

Great app for gym climbing!!!. Great app for gym climbing! Been using it for a few weeks and it has been awesome to keep track of my progress.

No Australian bouldering grading. Really good app but no grading for Australian bouldering

Missing grades. Great app but for some reason the Australian Grading for top rope starts at 19 which is the equivalent of a 5.10d. On the inverse side the USA grades start at a 5.4 which the equivalent to an Australian 6. Would love an update where the Australian top rope grades were extended and even have the option to make a custom grading system based on colours as my bouldering gym doesn’t have grades on the climbs.

Best climb logger. Well done, works perfectly! Thanks a lot for this !

Great work!. Was such a breeze to log all my climbs I did on the weekend. Love the ease of using it via Apple Watch. Can’t wait to see more features to come including the dashboard.

Excellent. Love the simplicity of the app. Makes it super easy to log your sessions without mucking around with a lot of menus and stuff. I especially appreciate the Lock Screen widget for this. If you want to save more details, the photos and notes are also great. Bonus, there is a data export feature. A lot of app for little price.

Good App, could be great.. Needed Features! 1. Full customization of workouts- merging and splitting!!!! 2. Show all climbs in workout view. An option to scroll through all climbs in a given date range in a chronological way in the workout view would be extremely helpful.
