I LOVE IT!! A place to categorize what I have seen for reference is a game changer.. I finally have a place to categorize all the movies I like and watch instead of having them all hang out on my already cluttered watch lists on my streaming services. The bonus is I’m finding other users like me and finally discovering new movies to watch that I’ve never heard of. Watching movies is really my hobby and finding out others feel the same way was a game changer. I feel like this app still has some things they need to improve upon and I hope they do because they have a good thing going. So I’m not upset about a few glitches, I can see that they have already fixed some things. It’s already a part of my daily life, just checking on what other people have found, it’s really cool.

Exactly what I needed!. I had no idea this app existed until I saw an ad on Instagram. And you can bet it’s great if I take the time to write a review (something I never do.) Through analyzing my own unique preferences on books and movies, this app was able to fine tailor recommendations that were pretty darn accurate. Not only that, but the social aspect of communicating with others who need recommendations or those who recommend allows for yet another place to find what you love. I love that it’s free! I actually saved two books that I was able to find on Likewise, and just bought them at my local Barnes and Nobles- they are both EXACTLY what I look for in books. This is a perfect community type app for book-lovers, movie-lovers, and for those who don’t know what to read or watch next!

Community Recs make this worth it. It’s true. The daily suggestions aren’t stellar. And the options you have to pick from to help “improve the daily recommendations” aren’t great either. BUT… I’m here for the community part! Being able to ask for recommendations and make suggestions to others is borderline addicting. I’ll often watch a movie and think it was really good and want to find more like it. A Google search for “movies like ______” yield sketchy results. Either an algorithm or a single author creates the list. But with LikeWise you have all these other people who love tv/movies/books as much as you. So the suggestions are diverse yet spot-on. It’s fun to scroll through the oddly specific suggestion lists and find things I never would’ve thought to watch or read (depending on if you’re here for the tv/movies or book recs). There’s a podcast section too if that’s your thing.

Love! Wish there was a delete option though... I can’t even say how much I love this app. I have been searching for book recommendations for my very specific taste in books for months, and finally I’m surrounded by a community who actually knows what it is I’m looking for! In an hour I had 10+ books in my need-to-read list. I do wish that there was a delete option. I selected several books on accident that I didn’t mean to select when going through the initial “things I have read and liked” that I haven’t actually read, but there is no way to unselect that you have read them or delete them out of your list of read books later on. I also recommended the wrong book to someone and it wouldn’t let me delete my recommendation so I just had to leave a comment. It’s a simple enough feature and it’s pretty annoying that it’s not there. Hopefully in a future update though! Thanks for this beautiful app!

Cool idea.... It’s a really great idea but their are two major problems I’ve seen on only having the app for two days. The first problem is that I don’t see an option to say that I disliked a movie or tv show which makes zero sense to me. The second problem is kinda similar in that with all the reviews for various movies and shows, I have not seen one negative review which confused me so I purposely looked up really bad movies to test this so I looked up Secret Obsession which is a terrible movie and what do you know, all the reviews said how great the movie was and how you need to watch it. There is something really weird with this app showing everything as great. I’d like an app where people’s honest opinions were showcased as well because how it is, it just isn’t worth using because the reviews are clearly fixed.

Meaningless Personal Data Grab. Aside from the other issues typically talked about (poor UI, few recommendations per day, etc.), the biggest thing for me is the transience of user interaction/conversation. I commented on a thread about a book disagreeing with some others and explaining my own opinion (not at all a heated convo, just usual discourse). Next day original comment stood starting the convo, but all subsequent comments (including my own) were deleted and replaced with new ones from other users). Either the app can’t save or the developer is hugely over-moderating user comments. Whatever the explanation, I now see why there are so few comments on the app. Half the point for me is to know what others think about books, films, etc. Getting rid of those conversations on developer whims makes the app pretty meaningless to me. Unfortunately, that only leaves the app’s purpose to be collecting your data and selling it with no meaningful benefit to you, the user. I will be deleting the app shortly.

Phenomenal. I downloaded this app thinking, “Oh, it’s another one of those things where it’ll give me generic suggestions to more popular, far worse versions of the books/movies I type in.” And I was ready for it. I was ready to delete the app off my phone, give up on it completely, and resort back to the websites. But I couldn’t. Within seconds after I had typed in my favorites did I receive actual, good suggestions. I started going through them and, heck, I’m ready to spend about forty dollars at the book store to pick them all up! Seriously! This app is fantastic! Even if you’re one of those people like me, who have no idea what they’re getting when the go into a bookstore and prefer it that way, this app will work just fine for you! Plus, the movie and show recommendations are also amazing! They’re so good, that if I’ve forgotten to type in one of my favorite films, it’ll pop up in my feed (albeit a bit annoying but very reassuring)! So please, download and give it a try. I’m sure it’ll work out swell for you!

AWESOME app. Probably the best app I’ve ever downloaded. As a movie lover, it’s a great place to keep track of all the movies I’ve seen and to find new ones. The daily recommendations are okay, but my favorite features are the lists, and the asks. The asks are really good for getting recommendations from real people in the community, and as for the lists, I like organizing my favorite movies and shows by genre to keep track of. The only thing I would like to see added would be to be able to search by name of author, actor/actress, director, etc. For instance, be able to search “Stephen king” and have all his book titles pop up, or “Adam Sandler” and have his movies pop up. But besides that, it’s an awesome app. Definitely try it out.

LOOOOVE THIS APP - but. When I need to find a book to read this is the place I go. Not only is it a good place to find the next book you want to curl up in bed with. It’s a place for all the people who like reading to connect with one another. Putting our thoughts of the things we read out there for others to consider. It’s quite beautiful honestly. But this isn’t just for readers, NAY NAY, this is for lovers of podcast, movies, and tv shows. Need a new tv show? Likewise is a perfect place to go! Now, the one BIG (but not that big of a deal) thing is that I would 1000 percent love, is for this app to be compatible with iPad’s. I mostly do my reading on my iPad and that’s where I do most of any type of reading. Unless it’s a texts. This includes Likewise. However, when I downloaded it on my iPad the only part of my screen that like was filled was as small as the screen of my phone. I was sad.. For now, i just use Likewise on my phone, but hope one day to use it on my iPad.

Generic and limited recommendations. If you’re looking for the “tinder for media”, this isn’t it. The recommendation is limited to only a few per day and is littered with sponsored content. I feel like that is the main reason people download this app, but it’s not very good at that. There is no way to ignore a title you don’t plan to watch and shows you have disliked still show up on recommendation lists. I find it’s decent at keeping track of my “to watch” list and which streaming platforms they are on. Filtering works, but there is no way to sort titles which is annoying. If you want to make a running list, it only keeps track of the order you added it instead of allowing you to rearrange titles later. I saw one list that tried to put titles in alphabetical order but then after added more and it was very obvious. TL;DR limited daily recommendations not very good, decent lists with filters, no sort option

Book Fan?. I looveee this app~ it’s like Instagram, product review and a book club all in one! You can create a profile, follow ppl who have the same tastes as you and look at posts of their most recent review of a book. I find this app really helpful for tracking books that I’ve read and books that I want to read. It’s also really helpful for finding books you’ve never even heard of. You get to hear other peoples thoughts on books your a little hesitant on reading and determine whether you really want to read it. 10/10 recommend😘🔖

Search function needs work. I just started using this app and now I’m selecting what I’ve watched, listened to, or read, going through the lists. Right now I’m selecting books I’ve read. For this category I’m using the search function more. It’s quite a pain! Let’s say I type in a book name or an author’s name, Jeffrey Carver for instance, about 7 books he’s written comes up, and I’ve read most of them. I select the first book, it places the check mark, and goes out of my search back to the list screen. In order to select every book of his I’ve read, I have to type in his name each and every time! There is no way to select multiple books or to clear the search myself. Add this ability to the search function because right now your search function isn’t very user friendly.

My Mew Favorite App!. I absolutely LOVE using LikeWise! It has connected me with a network of people who love books and tv/movies just like me! The app allows you to ask for recommendations, host and respond to discussions with others, and save your favorite works into organized lists that you can share with your friends and family! It also provides a quick and easy guide to show you what streaming services provide certain movies/tv shows. I love how accessible the app is and how much information is provided for each listing. I can’t express my love for this app enough!

Kinda okay. Keeps recommending romance. I downloaded this hoping to find good book recommendations, as it is advertised as such. It’s been somewhat helpful in finding books for me, but most of the time I feel like it’s not that intuitive as I’ve never added any romance books to my “liked/preferences” and yet I keep getting those suggested to me. I wish there was a way to mute some categories/lists as I really don’t care about Cosmo’s “Best Enemies to Lovers” or “Michelle Obama’s favorites” list but DO care about lists such as NYT’s “Top 15 books of 2021”. Seems geared towards young females who like romance fiction imo 🤷🏻‍♀️ also wish there was a way to turn off getting recommendations for Film/Tv and Podcasts as I only want book recommendations.

Algorithm is not good. The app is useful for some things but it fails at the main selling point: to recommend things that are similar to stuff you like. The algorithm as far as I can tell just decides which genres you like and then picks a random popular movie/show from that genre. Doesn’t seem to factor in if other people the tone/ style or quality of the movie or if other people who likes similar things rated it well. You get only like 6 of these recommendations on your Home Screen per day and they feel completely disconnected with the movies I said I liked. The “see more like” this feature built into streaming services is substantially better at finding similar recommendations. The app is still useful for some things and I use it to keep a list of stuff I want to watch all in one place. I Iike how it tells you which streaming service you can watch things on. There are also user created lists that can be good. It’s just a shame that the main selling point is not delivered on.

Forced personal info from start. I swore years ago in another review that I would never keep an app that demanded I give it my name, email or other personal information before it even allowed me to look at the app. I almost forgot that because I haven't seen one in so long that didn't allow the user to skip that and enter the app anyway. I started to type in my email and went, "Whoa Nelly!" Any app that bullies/forces you into giving personal information and creating an online account to use it is not for me. I could understand it if the app itself purely existed to facilitate use of a social media program that exists only on the web, like Twitter or something. Creating an account should never be a forced requirement to use an app. That would be like Apple forcing you to use their Game Center. That would be like Microsoft requiring you to sign in when you just want to play a private game on your Xbox. Oh, wait, they do... Deleted.

love this app!! only a few things that could make it 10x better. i literally am so obsessed with this app. it’s so nice to be able to find good book recs from real people and to be able to recommend books yourself. i find myself having not many people to talk to about books i’m obsessed with, and this app helps me so much with that. i love hearing everyone’s opinions and being in a community of people who have the same passion for books that i do. there’s only a few things that i think could make it better. first, add dates for posts/comments. i’ll find a post or an ask and like idk when it was written because there isn’t a date. it would be so helpful if this was added. second, there’s a tv/movies portion, a book portion, and a podcast portion. please, PLEASE, add a song portion. this would make this app everything and so much more. there are so many specific meanings that i wanna find songs about, but google isn’t always very helpful and having real people to ask would literally be all i’ve ever wanted in life. music is my favorite thing ever and being able to share my own favorite songs and also have songs recommended to me based on specific things i want in them sounds like an absolute dream for me. i know that sounds dramatic, but it really would mean so much. other than that, the app is definitely one of my all-time favorites on my phone! i love it.

Great app, great purpose, great everything!!!. I’m always looking for movie and show recommendations as well as book recommendations and with this app it’s really helped me reach the reading community that I am apart of. It’s also so much fun to recommend books to people, and find people who like similar books!!! I know absolutely no one who has the same preference in books that I do, and it’s been great to finally find some!! I also love the format that the app will recommend books based on two of your other favorites that other people liked. Overall, great app for getting and giving recommendations on books, TV shows, and movies!!!!

Feels like Movies/TV section was an after thought. I downloaded this for the Books section and have gotten some suggestions that I’ve never gotten before for books, which I’m really happy about! I am constantly trying to find good animes and other cartoons to watch, so I decided to do the TV/Movie section. I put in twenty favorite movies/shows (3 nature/crime documentaries, 1 live-action movie, 1 live-action show, and the rest being cartoons and animes). I intentionally put down a lot of my cartoon/animes so I could get primarily suggestions based on that. I waited a day to get my suggestions and today I looked and it’s a bunch of mainstream Netflix documentaries that aren’t over nature or crime! It’s things like The Circle, the Demi Lovato Documentary, etc... Super disappointed that the accuracy and quality was so different between the two sections, but I’m overall happy with my new reading list!

No iPad app and doesn’t sync with Netflix. I am not sure how this app serves a purpose - if you like something you can’t add it to Netflix so you need to have both the Netflix app and this app. I guess the only point of this is to give you recs of what to watch and then you have to go log into your stream8 service and manually add it to your list. Seems kind of pointless. Also, they don’t even have an iPad app. If you download this just shows a miniature version of an iPhone LOL. Come on the iPad has been out form11 years now! Imagine if I could click a suggested movie on likewise and then have it automatically open Netflix and I can start watching? Why doesn’t this app do that??

I’ve wanted something like this for so long. When the pandemic started, I had a lot more free time for books, TV, movies, and podcasts, but I didn’t have a good way to discover new stuff, nor talk about the stuff I was watching/listening/reading. I wanted a way to bridge the gap between content consumption and socialization. After it didn’t exist (so I thought) for 2 years, I decided to go and try to build it. I came up with a pitch deck, found a start up advisor, and started my market research. 25 or so conversations in, and I finally discovered Likewise. This app is almost everything I envisioned mine would be (although I have a handful of ideas for them). I’m really happy it exists. The reason it didn’t hit my radar sooner is probably because this one’s early adopters tend to me teens and 20-something’s, whereas I’m in my 30s. I’d love to work there some day because I have big ideas on how this could grow and gain a wider audience.

One of the best apps on my phone 🔥. Let me just start by saying this app is amazing! Not only has it found more shows and movies in my wheelhouse but it has also expanded my taste in terms of cinema! My only issues are sometimes my scrolls are very short or redundant and I would love a dark mode 🔥! Also maybe in the future there can be a music section cuz I would love to expand my taste in different genres as well 🔥! And lastly maybe have a what I’m currently watching feature so my friends can know when I’m watching at the time! Keep improving this app cuz it has been a life saver!!!!!!

Hit or Miss. Some of the features on this app are pretty good. I especially like the option to ask specific questions and get recommendations from other users. But when it comes to the “today” page, it’s a complete hit or miss. Some days they’ll only show me 3 or 4 movies, and none of them will be even close to things I like (which is super frustrating because you have to wait a full 24 hours for new ones.) But other days I’ll get 6 or 7 that are great. It’s also annoying that they ask me to choose from podcasts every day, even though I clearly don’t like podcasts, as I haven’t saved a single one. Yet they will show me literally zero books, even though I have multiple lists full of novels. Basically, the user recommendation feature is great, but the algorithm is mediocre at best. Beyond that, this app also just has a bunch of little problems that altogether make it annoying to use. The biggest one is that if your post exceeds a certain character limit, it just shows a “...” but there’s no way to view the full thing. You also can’t comment on a move or book unless you’ve liked it, and it sometimes crashes. It’s also pretty stupid that they mark it as 12+ but if you aren’t at least 13 you can’t even make an account, this didn’t effect me but it did effect my brother and that’s just dumb. Among other smaller problems. Just needs some updating for sure.

A pretty good way to find new reads. I’ve been using this app for over a month now and it’s helped me to find some great new books to read. You can save genres you like so it will recommend those to you. It also has lists it’s made under those genres it recommends on top of having the top books come up as soon as you click on a genre. People even write reviews on the books so you can see if it’s for you. You can also get movies and tv shows recommended to you, which can be great if you don’t know what you want to watch. Overall I’ve found it a pretty helpful app.

Mostly just pushes pop culture crap. I had so much hope for this app but after using it for almost six months and getting absolutely nothing worth while out of it I decided it was time to part ways and delete it. I am a person who has struggled to read books my entire life as I don’t know what books I may like because I don’t know the book industry well. I do know books that I have enjoyed in the past and books that I did not enjoy, so with that in mind this app seemed to promise to help me to connect to books that I would enjoy. Instead, what I got was sponsored content after sponsored content of books that I knew that I would not like (for me, this happened to be things like biographies, romance, sports, and some other “popular” recent releases). Not once have I had a recommendation that I came across and thought that it sounded remotely interesting. In the end this app just doesn’t seem like it actually learns what you like and generates recommendations based on that but rather it is just another advertising matching.

As You Likewise It. I heard about this app from the Sincast by CinemaSins guys, and downloaded it to show my support for the podcast. They talked it up, as you’re wont to do when hocking a product, but I got the feeling that they weren’t just doing it for a paycheck. They actually use and like this app. After having used it for a few months, I can say, without a doubt, it’s my go to movie app now. Not only can it recommend films for me that are similarly recommended by people who think like me, but it will also tell you where to find it (which is super helpful when I’m away from my RokuTV). This isn’t the first app I’ve used to enhance my movie experience, but it’s likely the last.

Better for white folks than for me…. I’m Black and Asian and some other stuff, and I’ve tried to use this app to find more books written by people like me in genres that I like. Unfortunately, like most mainstream places, this app is geared towards white folks. While you can choose LGBTQ+ as a category you like (which is great!), there is no option for BIPOC. Because there’s no specific community for us on there, I have to ask for book recommendations in categories that maybe don’t consider us…so I don’t get a lot of recs. Also, there are a lot of flaws with the system. I’ve mistakenly “ended” an recommendation ask on several accounts, without any way to bring them back. Maybe that’s on me, but it’s very confusing. Also, I don’t know how to make them stop recommending me YA. I don’t want YA. Honestly this review is feeling a little ranty, but ultimately, if you’re a brown person looking for books by brown people—I’d not look here. It’s possible, but it’s incredibly difficult and the community is completely saturated with white people and white content. It is VITAL for a platform to have a BIPOC category if it wants to be a platform for everyone.

Cool, but really slow. It's an interesting concept, and I like making lists of stuff I want to watch/read, but it's very slow. When I use the search bar, it often doesn't type correctly. Recently, since the last update, I can't even use the app because it keeps showing an error. Other than the slowness, there are some other things I don't really like. The recommendation feed is only about 5 different things a day. I also think it'd be cool to add different categories of media, such as plays/musicals, video games, webseries, etc. Speaking of recommendations, I'm not interested in any of the ones I see. They usually relate to stuff in my watchlist, which I'm not even sure I like yet.

Great for downtime. I love popping into this app when I have a few minutes. I’m quickly building a list of books I want to read, and I’ve used the “ask a question” option to ask for recommendations, make recommendations, and read through recommendations on questions that I didn’t even know I wanted to ask. There are two things about the app that don’t quite work for me. First, the formatting for book descriptions is way off and awkward. All jammed together, no spaces between sentences, can’t tell where professional reviews end and the actual description begins. It’s hard to look at or skim. Second, I’d say 80% of recommendations are all “new” books that I see out on many, many other recommendation platforms. That or every book that gets suggested is YA. A filter option would be helpful to avoid topics or genres I’m absolutely sure I don’t want to get into.

It’s a great platform. I love likewise because it’s very organized and helps you discover new book Tv shows and podcasts, I recommends new things based on things you’ve already liked, The only thing they should make better is like I wanna start listening to podcasts so I’ve never listen to specific shows before and I wish they had a beginner option so they can recommend things you might like instead of making me choose a certain amount of things I’ve listened to before. Other then that it’s a great platform to discover and talk to people about the things you like.

Bad, repetitive recommendations. I’ve found a couple gems through this app, but overall the recommendations are pretty bad. I am constantly getting recommended books I’ve passed up 5+ times, and most of the recommendations I get don’t seem fall in line with the books I’ve favorited what so ever. For example, for a couple days most of the recommendations they gave me were westerns. I have never favorited or shown interest in a single western. Almost all my saves are thrillers, horror, or sci-fi but for whatever reason the app seems to rarely give me recommendations in those genres. I thought using the app for a longer period of time would improve this but it only seems to have gotten worse. I hope they improve the algorithm because I really like the idea of this app, but the execution is poor.

Awful, does not listen to your feedback. This is one of the worst apps out there. Seriously do not download or give any of your time to this app. I have repeatedly, as in daily asked them to stop recommending me a certain type of book (do not care for young adult books) and every. single. day they recommend them to me. I have nowhere in my profile or likes say I like that type of book and yet they repeatedly, again daily, recommend them to me. I give feedback (yup you guessed it daily) on how much I do not care for this style of book and they continue to do it. I don’t know what else to do. They do not listen. If you want good recommendations go to goodreads and follow a group, or look at the lists. Heck their recommendations far surpass whatever the heck likewise thinks they are doing. So TLDR: goodreads good, likewise bad

Redundant and Unintuitive. This app is a great idea, however it was executed very poorly. Most of the recommendations are from people spamming their favorite books/movies over and over again. There is no way to filter this out and furthermore people can and will just recommend anything and everything on your asks without actually reading what you’re asking for. When searching for a book, you need to type in the exact name or you will not find what you’re looking for. If you do, you’re also likely to find about 10 versions of it. I put in that I liked Harry Potter and because of that Likewise recommended every single version of everu single Harry Potter book there is and nothing else. The app is so unintuitive and needs some serious fixing to make it worthwhile.

I AM OBSESSED SO MUCH MY OCD KICKS IN. This app is literally amazing. When I am bored, I go on this app just to see what other movies I may be interested in and see if there’s any that I have watched and haven’t hit like yet. This app could keep me up at night? It has. I know it might sound crazy, but I have bad OCD. I have created and deleted multiple accounts just because I overthink everything which I’m trying not to do. Plus have a liked a lot of things and went back through and re liked things. But we aren’t going to go into all of that that runs in my mind. Like a hamster on a hamster wheel. This app is very accurate. It helps me find movies that I will enjoy. I love how it doesn’t just recommend movies and shows. But also recommend books and podcasts. One thing I think that should be changed is being able to recommend songs. That would be great!!! ha haha maybe even YouTubers!!!

Fun for a while. I really like the idea of this app a lot. It’s cool to be able to get recommendations for stuff like this. I also love spreading the word of my favorite shows and books. But after a while, you begin to realize that you’re recommending the same things over and over again. Pretty much everyone on the app asks the same question over and over again, leading to a very repetitive experience. If you’re looking for recommendations, don’t even ask a question because you can scroll through the most recent asks and get all the same answers that you would have gotten on your own unless you asked for something super specific. I wish you got more daily recommendation type stuff since you can blow through those in a minute or two. Also, the notification system is awful. It needs to be completely redone in a more efficient way. It would also be great if there was a video game section. That seems like a natural inclusion for this sort of app. It was fun for a little bit, but there needs to be more substance to keep you interested long term.

Get it. It’s amazing especially for readers.. Yes I’m actually real. As a reader that reads just about everything and always has her nose stuck in a book, I am 100% completely in love with this app. It makes it really easy to find books you like, with genres you’re used to and try out new ones. It even takes books you’ve already read and puts ones similar. It’s easy to save and skip. Plus NEW EVERYDAY? !!! It’s just great. The only thing that could even be slightly improved is if you were able to hit a button and it brought you to where you could buy it, showed you the profile on goodreads to save it there too, how much it is to buy exc. other than that though, it’s amazing. And if you like to read, definitely get it. AND FOR MY NON READERS: there is also podcasts and shows, I haven’t set up either of those but I have friends that love it for those as well. If you’re a reader this is a must have. But get it anyways if you’re not a reader. GET IT GET IT GET IT !!!

Great community. I love this app ever since I downloaded it I go on it multiple times in the day to see if I can get new book recommendations. I thought I had too many books before, well now I have more 😅 the movie recs are great too but I’ve seen so many movies that I’m more the recommender than the one gets the recs. I really like how you can see other people’s lists or ask for books similar to your fave. I think the only thing I need is a button for when you didn’t hate the book because it was bad, but because it wasn’t your taste. I always feel so terrible unliking a book. But I guess that’s something I may have to just get used to.

I love this app. Honestly, I’m a movie buff and love re-watching the same movies with new perspectives. Sometimes it's hard to remember all of my favorite movies or tv shows. I use this app to save shows that I've watched, want to watch, or rewatch. I love the grouping of recommendations based on your saves, for example, “my favorite comedy shows and movies.” I tend to do this on my own time, but I think it could go further, like when I'm in the mood for empowering movies with a strong female lead in business. It could, for example, recommend The Devil Wears Prada and The Intern, two of my favorites. Or if I want to watch movies based in Paris, it could group recommend Pixar's Ratatouille with another Paris-based movie. Or even groupings based on classic chick flicks. I understand this would take a lot more time, and you would probably would to have someone physically creating collections, as opposed to Ai like I think it is now. But hey, if you're interested in I’m all on board. Overall I love this app. It’s free, and if you watch movies or tv shows, I don’t see any reason not to use it!

Must have. I love this app so much. Anytime i get a tiktok recommendation for a movie or show i put it right in my “want to watch” list. The new 5 star rating system is awesome! It was fun going through all the movies i’ve watched and giving them a rating instead of a like and dislike like before. A half-star rating system would be even better if you ever update that in the future :) And it’d be cool to have a feature the randomly picks something on your watch list - like a shuffle. There’s so much I want to want sometimes I can’t decide! Recommend this app to everyone.

Perfect. I use this app to find books to read, because I had trouble figuring out what I liked when I grew out of my YA phase. You only get 5 swipes per day for each category (podcasts, books, and movies/tv), but you can also look at posts people make asking for certain books, and see what people suggest for them. You can also make these posts yourself if you like! The auto recommendations that the app gives you immediately upon posting can be pretty hit or miss, but the books other people suggest are often right on target. You can also copy your list of books that you want to read and share it, so people can get you the books you want for holidays :)

Good but with a few flaws. It’s got all the books you can think of in its database, some without the covers loaded though. And the community is active. The app is easy to work with and simple. It’s good and less text heavy than Goodreads. Overall, I think it’s a fun app with a few flaws. The recommendation system is rudimentary. For one, there are people of all age ranges on the app from juvenile to adult. The app takes no data of age so it’s easy a juvenile to ask for recommendations and receive something out of their age range. I’m not asking for exact age at all or even related to people but age ranges would be nice on asks or discussion pages. I have not given recommendations before because I wondered if the person I was giving the recommendation to wanted a book for a younger person or older person. Their compatibility system isn’t great at actual compatibility. They use genres as a measure for how similar two peoples book tastes are, so if you are a person who likes a wide range or like fantasy but not romance fantasy, it’s not going be a perfect system for you. I have found people with 30% match to actually make more to my tastes than 100% people. I wish you could tag the books yourself to say what you liked most.

Great app, but.... I would like to start off by saying this app is absolutely great. I’ve finished a series lately, and I had absolutely no idea what to read, but this app helped me find something. I like the fact that you can ask other people for suggestions, but it doesn’t make up for the fact that the app itself doesn’t give you many suggestions. Also, I’m 12 years old and it suggested books that were meant to be read by six year olds. I had to change my birth year just to get books that I would actually even think about. Besides those few issues, I would give this app five stars.

Things that will improve the app. Hi! I come from the software background myself (I sold my company to a giant Corp in 2010) and the most important thing these days is to be user- friendly and easy to use. This is an excellent app and the idea is fantastic. However, the user interface still needs work. In my opinion it shouldn’t open in your own page by default. When I log in- I don’t care if my profile complete if not and how I scored, etc. I’m looking for something. So, help me find it please. The lists are useful but there is no way to prioritize them based on critics review or members. This is critical! Give us starts so we can see if other people liked this or not. Grouping people with similar tastes is useful, but one needs a freedom to join such group or start his/her own. So, different ways to prioritize lists of movies or books are extremely useful and should be implemented. Thank you!

New Update Has Caused the App to Stop Loading. Even though the new update gives me just a white screen, I have enjoyed using this app when it is working. It has suggested some books and movies that seem right up my alley, as well as many that aren't. I enjoy that you are able to tell them why a recommendation is off base. My biggest complaint, aside from it not currently loading, is that many of the review skew towards newer material. While I like finding out about new releases, they often suggest movies and tv shows that haven't even been released yet, so how am I supposed to review them? The algorithm could use a bit of tweaking, but overall this is a pretty solid app, when it works.

Seems like it’s paid product placement instead of legit recommendations. After briefly using this app, I’m very suspicious that it is just showing me paid product placement from little known authors instead of books that are actually a good fit for my interests. For example, I entered in 10 of my favorite books for it to base recommendations off of. I expected some of the recommendations would be other books I’d read but not entered in, or at least books on my reading list. But instead, it showed me almost exclusively book after book from just a few different authors that I’ve never heard of and aren’t well known in the genre I input. I’m all for learning about unpopular authors… but this reeked of the featured authors paying for promotion. Seems like a scam, I deleted the app pretty quickly.

Frustratingly Useless. I downloaded the app because I kept being bombarded with ads for it and I’ve been looking to expand my reading tastes for a while. Specifically there were a handful of books I read recently that I want to read more like so I thought this app could help. It’s very frustrating to use and I don’t like that I can’t tell the algorithm to stop recommending me certain books (it seems convinced I want to read superhero books when literally nothing in my reading history on the app would suggest it.) I think being able to tell the app what I dislike is just as important as what I like to help it stop recommending bad suggestions. The UI is easy enough to use but why is it missing what should be incredibly basic features?

Great idea, awful excecution. In order to sign up you *have* to invite people from your contacts?? No way around it on sign up? Why on earth would I give you my friends’ contact info at all, let alone before I even get to see the app? This feels sketchy and is an immediate red flag for me. I understand you want to grow, but getting me to spam my friends is not the way to do it. Deleting the app. Hope you figure out this is a bad strategy and fix it so you don’t turn off a bunch of other potential users from the start. Update after developer responded that a system prompt should appear asking if you want to allow access to contacts, which can be denied: there was no prompt. Just no option to continue without inviting contacts. Maybe it’s some sort of glitch, but I’m not interested in trying again.

Amazing but needs work. This could rival goodreads with its multimedia recs, but it doesn’t because it’s lacking a lot of content. Most kindle unlimited books are not on here to suggest through the search function but most avid readers are going to have a subscription. It’s also very slow in general, will freeze up or force close on itself. More explorations into tagging books by genre/trope/theme would be nice. I like the social aspects without it being too serious. Would prefer that my name on google wasn’t forced onto my profile, most people on these apps are not talking to people they personally know. Some anonymity with your profile is preferred. Looking forward to seeing the app develop.

Could be great but….. This needs a lot of work. In addition to all the comments about UI, too few recs, not being able to turn off tv or podcast sections etc etc, I would specifically like to be able to hide whole genres (I will NEVER want a YA book, so it’s a total waste of my time to weed through questions or discussions about YA). I went to the genre groups and selected “turn off group notifications” but that seems to have done absolutely nothing. I also tried blocking individuals to see if their discussions would stop showing up but that did nothing either, i still see all their posts. There also needs to be a better (or any??) way to find people to follow. For example, the app could suggest people to you who have liked a lot of the same things you have. I actually can’t figure how to find anyone to follow. There is just a giant list of all the users with zero info about what they like. Not helpful.

Bad interface and recommendations. First, the user interface was confusing. When I first opened the app, there were various categories like Books, TV Shows, etc. that you were supposed to populate with your preferences. I did this for the TV Shows category, but after that, I was never able to navigate back to the other categories again. I could have tried harder to locate that part of the app, but I shouldn’t have to try hard. Second, there were useless and irritating features like a pop-up window that came out if nowhere and said something like “Great job making recommendations! Keep up the good work!” (something I hadn’t actually done). I had to make it go away by clicking a button that said “Awesome!” Finally, and most disappointingly, the algorithm for making recommendations wasn’t that effective. It spit out the name of a fairly pedestrian American police procedural based on the fact that I liked the stylistically very different “Sherlock” and “Killing Eve.” Then it recommended a random new David Spade show based on...nothing, apparently. Bleh.

Very useful. I use it mostly for books. It’s the perfect way to find new reads and to keep track of the ones you’ve read so far

The update.... I like the app well enough because it's simple and easy to use. However, the update removed all the previous rankings when it got replaced with the star system.

Good app. It’s a good app! I can talk with people and when I ask questions, people answer quickly!

Bug that makes app unusable. I just spent two hours adding all my favourite tv shows/movies/anime and so on and it got to the end and asked me to share with my friends but the key board is in the way of the button to do that with no skip option or anything. There’s no way for me to progress past that point so I can’t even use the app. Good concept if it worked though.

Love this app. This is an amazing app to see where you may be able to watch movies shows all kinds of things

wooo. i love the concept of this app, although i feel it was poorly executed. i’ve been using the app for a while, having added over 50 of my favourite books, yet not one of the books recommended to me by the app has peaked my interest. i still enjoy using this by asking for recommendations and look through the libraries of other users who i seem to have similar tastes with. the users on this app are what make it work, not the app itself.

Not good. I don’t really think it’s very good I from onlyjayus

Love this app. This app is for free, it helps you find new shows, movies, books, and podcasts personalized just for you! You can also ask people globally and get replies within minutes!!! Definitely recommend.(BTW it’s completely free)

Suggestion. Would love a way to pick what you use to watch TV Shows/Movies (ex. Netflix, Crave, Disney+ etc) would improve the app a lot.

Fairly pointless. Could be interesting if you could search through asks. They used to have a feature that prevented people asking the same question twice but now they seem to encourage people asking the same question over and over again. Most books they recommend are just the booktok classics and they don’t take into account your nicher interests. Most questions they promote are ones that can be easily solved by google and their ai is lacklustre. Don’t waste your time.

Great app BUT. I love this app it’s amazing but today when I went to go onto it it said it had trouble authorizing my account, I have had this app for almost a year and have 355 books saved on it that I want to read and good thing 90% of those are saved on Amazon or I would have lost my whole tbr

App doesn’t work. I can’t get past the “share with friends” screen during the setup process. The keyboard is stuck over the screen and can’t click on any options to move forward. Unfortunately rendering the app useless.

No moderator. The block button does nothing. Reporting extremely innapropriate content does nothing. Many films aren’t even on the database and there’s so much misinformation about films and streaming services that it’s a complete waste to get this app. I prefer IMBD.

Not great for Canada. Why are they advertising here?

Overall great. An amazing outlet to recommendations and connection between readers, great content!

Message option. It’s really good but it would be better if we could text our followers/followings on the app to talk about book recommendation and make conversations.

Amazing app. This app shows me amazing books that fit with what I like. Now i can finally, find books tailored to me, minus purchasing them.

Good. I like this app, always gives me good recommendations

Its enjoyable. It a place to find other people that enjoy the same things as I do

Not very good. It’s a great app for finding stuff with the same title as the thing you like but not finding similar stories

Doesn't work in Canada. I spent the time making sure my address was set to Canada and it still only gives me US Netflix and Hulu options. Doesn't work in Canada.

Good way to find good books/shows/podcasts. When I’m looking for something to read /watch/listen to - this helps me find the right thing that I’ll enjoy !

Quick easy searches. Love how quickly I can search any film .. no more searching on internet to see where it’s playing/streaming!

Amazing. I have only had good experiences with this app. I struggle to find books to read, likewise gave me hundreds of books to pick from. I also listen to podcasts and it narrowed down what category I liked! I 100% recommended likewise!

Not usable. I signed up on the web, but now I sign in with same credentials on iPad and it wants me to go through the onboarding again. And I've double checked that I really am using the same account. So, not usable for me, so 1 star. Bummer

Great app. It helped a lot with movies and books

Amazing app!. I am finding movies and tv shows on here I couldn’t remember that I wanted to rewatch great app!

Can’t opt out of emails. I’ve unsubscribed from all but the reading list emails but still continue to receive the others. Every time I go to manage my preferences, it recognizes that I’m only signed up for the reading list but still sends me the rest nonetheless. I’m unsubscribing from the emails altogether now to see if that helps

Give good book choices. This app give you a real opinion that helped me when I finish the book I was reading and I didn’t know what to read next. If this is you too this is the perfect app for you.❤️❤️🎉

Love it. This app is something every cinephile and bookworm needed

It’s okay. It’s okay. I like the idea of this app but it gives me stuff that I didn’t like really . It gives you suggestions so it does what it says. Over all it’s fine

amazing app!. i love this app so much it’s amazing for categorizing movies u want to watch and movies you love! definitely recommend to everyone!!

Good place for recommendations. I downloaded the app after getting a Kobo. I don’t have tons of time to read, so I want each book I read to be good. Likewise helps me find recommendations, and the reviews help me decide if it’s worth the read. I’ve also used it for TV, movies and podcasts. The best part is it helps me track things I want to read, watch or listen to, so when I finish something I can easily pick up a new book or show from my ongoing list. Love it.

Great way to discover new books!. Easy way to discover new books and talk about books you love with others.

Where. One of the reasons I sought out this app was because it’s supposed to tell you WHERE you can watch things you search. Very often I find this info isn’t available 🤷‍♀️☹️ otherwise pretty good. 🙃

Shoddy AI, poor moderation. This used to be an app with a fun community, but the AI suggestions are terrible (AI suggested Stephen King’s IT as a book under 200 pages) and staff refuse to moderate rampant homophobic comments by users.

Love it. I love LikeWise. Love the recommendations and how I can track what I am watching and what I would like to watch. Plus the community is very active. Giving it four stars because I would like to be able to pick what to watch through a picked streaming service. Similar to watch you can do in LikeWise TV. Overall, an amazing app.

New Reader. I’m new to reading recreationally and I’ve read only a few books, but it was making me select 10 before I could move on I’m not gonna pick a bunch of random books to move to the next step. Doesn’t that ruin the purpose of personalized recommendations?

Good app, but one suggestion. Love the recommendations provided and the format of the app, super easy to use and everything. But to the developers, may I suggest one addition? Can you add a third button around “seen it” and “saved it” to say “Not Interested”? I have been offered countless shows and tv shows I would rather drop dead than watch based on public perception or genre, and all I can do is swipe it away and hope it won’t come back. For those movies, I haven’t watched it, I never will, and I think if I could let the app know that, my personalized choices would be better fit!

Can’t get past the set up. After selecting all the books that I like in the set up section, I click on next and it forces me to invite people to a group. I can’t move on from the set up without inviting people. I don’t want to invite people from my contacts to some group, I just want some recommendations.

Stuck. I got stuck at the “Add Your Friends” screen. There was nothing for me to press. When I restarted the app it reset my progress, I attempted it again but the same thing happened. I don’t know what to do.

Nice. I love thé app

What’s the point?. As much as I love the idea of this app, it fails utterly in the execution. After I spent time thoughtfully selecting quite a few more than five favourite books (thinking it would yield greater accuracy the more data I provided) the list of books that was recommended for me contained titles at least a quarter of which were written by authors of the books I had just selected. That’s not exactly a genius algorithm—I’m already capable, without an app, of going through the back catalogues of author’s I like. And of the books I wasn’t already familiar with, none were even remotely ones I’d be interested in after reading the descriptions. Not even sure why I’m giving it two stars, tbh.

Great app. I love the suggestions of books and movies I’ve found so many gems on this app I wouldn’t have found or thought of otherwise, I only wish that they’d put all the books I have read into list. And some of my older books I can’t find on here but, it’s a great app, and I highly recommend!

Doesn’t save books you tell it. I haven’t had a book save in the last couple days, keeps telling me to try again later

AMAZING!!. I am obsessed with this app!! I found so many great books and movies that I am excited to read! I highly recommend this app if you don’t know what to watch or read!! I can’t wait to read more books that they suggested!! 🤍

so helpful. i love this app. it has a decent amount of features and you don’t have to pay (from what i understand) super helpful when i want to watch a movie but can’t think of one

Still new to this but loving it!. My husband and I have always been movie, tv and book enthusiasts but we have watched and read so much now, as a longtime middle-age couple and especially after this pandemic, that it is a breath of much needed fresh air to find new and old gems to watch and read through this app. Have invited some friends and family to join so we can share our cool finds together. Very fun!

Excellent app with a few flaws. I’ll say I do really love the app. It has been able to suggest movies I’ve seen and would be interested in pretty well. The problem becomes that after a while you get the same author/book/movie suggested over and over if you haven’t read it and have no interest in. You can “thumbs down” things but it shows as read/watched/listened to. There’s no way to block these recommendations in a more realistic way. It would be nice to be able to just block or decline a suggestion that you haven’t seen and have no interest in seeing.

"coincidental" notifications. i only get notifications from likewise when i'm on a decent video on tiktok abt issues w the gov & etc. how come? i used to only get notifs randomly when my phone was off & now it's only when my phone is on & i'm on tiktok. 👀

Great!! Just a few things... I really really love this app. Reviews are great, rating the books is great, the books on this app are wide range so you get everything on here, and the recommendations are amazing! The ONLY thing I have to say is with the summaries of the books: sometimes they are hard to read! When I click onto a book recommended to me I wanna be able see the summary of the book first and foremost. I get the reviews/commentaries of other proclaimed authors or NYT or Goodreads but that’s not what I’m initially there for. It’d be wonderful to have those separated: getting the full summary of the book asap, and all the extra tid-bits at the bottom of the “summary.” Most of the time I’m skimming the beginning of the many paragraphs to even find the actual summary of the story, and it’s usually squashed in there as an afterthought. Like I said, LOVE this app. so much. Definitely a happy customer!

Likewise. i LOVE this app. This app finds you TV shows and movies that you want to watch, podcasts that you like, books that you might love, and people can give you suggestions and recommendations on what you should watch next, read next, or listen to next. I highly recommend you get this app, if you don’t know what to watch, read, or listen to next! Also you can recommend books, TV shows, and podcasts, for other people to listen to, or read, or watch!! So if you’re debating on getting this app I would just get it!

Meh. Let’s start with the good. If you don’t keep up with pop culture, then this might be a good choice for you. The recommendations I got were either really obvious (“if you like comedy, you might like this esoteric, little known show called Arrested Development!”) or way off base. For example, it recommended a depressing looking documentary about a mental institution because I liked Sleepaway Camp and Harvey, which are both comedies. So why did it give me a sad movie? Very strange. Also, it only gave you four recommendations and then sent you to other people’s lists, which you can already get from Goodreads or IMDB or a ton of other places without having to download an app. Can’t say I recommend Likewise, unfortunately.

Not what I thought. I saw an ad for this on tik tok and it did not explain what this app is at all. What I was expecting was a good reads type deal with an algorithm that will recommend me books, tv shows etc because good reads is only for books. Turns out it is like joining a book group on Facebook. You have to post hey what books do you recommend if I liked X and wait for a human to answer it. Not at all what I was going for. Maybe this is exactly what people want, to interact with other people, but nope not me. I should have looked more into the app before downloading it instead of just going by the ad so that’s on me.

Good app, but default to Yelp given habits. Likewise is a good app, and with more users will be even better (I got recommendations from the same group of folks and like to sample from a large group of people). The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the already opted in email on how many notifications I had. I would rather have that box unchecked and I can change if I need to as it was just another email I had to delete. I didn’t use it much as I’m in the habit of constantly using Yelp, but did use when I traveled for quick recos on where to eat or what to see when in town.

Love this app!!. This app is life changing. When you don’t have a book to read, you can ask a question like,”Do you have any books that would be good for a middle grade student?” Then you would get book recommendations almost instantly! Also, everyday you get new book recommendations. You can choose to save the book. If you save the book , then you would be able to go back to it later. Not only can you get book recommendations but you can give book recommendations to real people too! To sum it all up this is a AMAZING app.🥳❤️

I like it, But Could Use a Couple Improvements. This app is just what I need, but I wish that tv and movies were separate categories. It’s annoying to have to sort through the movies if Im looking for a show and vice versa. I also really wish it showed you lists of books, movies, shows, etc that you have watched/read/listened to and what you rated it as. I know it stores that info but we have no way to access it and that would be really helpful. I agree with the review asking to add other categories like PC games or board games, that would be really cool.

Hard to figure out. I loved the idea when I heard about it and had to download it immediately. It is not intuitive. It doesn’t let you pick more than a certain number of books you like, and it’s not responsive to my clicks. I also wish you could see recommendations based on your own selections more than they offer it. Most of it seems to be based on discussion birds which is more time consuming. I’m much more interested in book rcommendations than TV/movies, but the recommendations seem dead set on having me watch the newest Netflix releases which, OK fine it’s sponsored. I’m not mad about it. But they’re not anything of any interest to me or based on anything I “liked”

like tinder, but only 4 options a day. Saw an ad showing this app, broadcasting how great the feature of finding movies and shows you like really can be. Loved the idea dm instantly downloaded. I put it 20+ tv shows that I’m in love with and wanted to find more like it. Quickly found out that you are only recommended about 4 movies / tv shows a day: and after that, it keeps looping through those same ones. You’d have to open the app every day to get another 4 options and maybe you’ll find something good after a month. A total waste. But maybe they’ll update the features. Not waiting to find out. Not worth it

What’s good what’s not-so-good. What’s good: It makes finding new tv, podcasts, books...etc Asking for recs is awesome. The lists feature is cool. The today's recommendation feature is neat. Tv and shows section is probably the best of these. It’s very easy to find new shows and movies. Not so good The book section is almost useless. You can’t search by series, or if you do it doesn’t come up with everything in that series. Ditto with searching by author. You can’t click on the author name and there is no tag for series. Which means that you can’t recommend every book in that series easily. Particularly inconvenient for long series see The Realm of the Elderlings (16 books), Discworld (over 100?), Dresden...etc It’s difficult but not as impossible to search for movie series. There more local section are also pretty useless. Connecting with others locally is difficult and I’m not sure most people know it's even there.

Its okay. I’ve changed my review from 5 stars to 3 stars. I thought that over time the community might get bigger, but unfortunately its been years and I just see the same questions being asked over and over again, and unfortunately it is not in my taste. I think the age range of people who use this app might be much younger. I have many great books to recommend but people keep asking for the same cliches over and over! And when I ask for recs, I get books or tv shows I’ve heard of a million times already.

Really helpful!. I really enjoy this app because I am starting to read more lately and Likewise gives me great new options everyday! They also give the reviews on the book and what it’s about. Not only that, but they give new options for new movies and podcasts everyday! I always look forward to seeing what it has in store for me every morning! If you love to read, watch movies or shows and listen to podcasts, I think likewise will help a lot!

Amazing!!. I have found some of my favorite shows and movies from this app!! I was wanting to find new things to watch for the longest time but couldn’t find anything then I downloaded this and immediately found new things that I ended up loving. I haven’t bought any of the books they have suggested yet because it costs more than just watching what they suggest. Everything they suggest is lined up perfectly with my interests! I definitely recommend the app.

Not so great sign up experience. I just got into reading a little while ago and have read around maybe 7 books so far but I want to read much more but need recommendations so I downloaded likewise! But while signing up it asked me to pick 10 books I like and I haven’t even read 10 so I didn’t know what to do. I clicked stuff that I maybe liked but I’m not so sure if it is going to be very accurate. Mostly my fault for not having read much but it’s still a bummer for people like me. Maybe put it down to a minimum of 5 books so even new people like me can use this app accurately!!!!

Music?. I think that this app is freaking awesome but I have found that if music recommendations were available as well as the tv shows, movies, books, podcasts, and restaurants it would take the app to the next level. I understand it would be very difficult to add to the app because of the millions of songs there are in the world, however if there were any way possible to make this happen, I would love the app even more than I do today. Thanks!!

Some feedback:. A feature that allows people to add things to a list from all of them saved items would make it much easier to organize shows and books. Also adding something like manga and comics in the books section would make a great addition I absolutely love this app and I recommend it to all my friends who can’t think of anything to read or watch. It’s clean and i especially appreciate the ratings and comments under every show!

Love the Concept! I have a Idea. I love using this app to find new shows and movies to watch. It encourages me to want to read books more and build a good playlist of what books to recommend to other people and to want to share about to others. I just wish that you can add a category in to include video games! Then you can find similar games based on what you like too. I would love if there was something like this for a music collection as well!

Mostly good but repetitive. I’m actually enjoying the app but there are a couple of things I wish were better. For books I wish you could search by author as well as title. I certainly know the names of my favorites but I can’t name all of their titles! I like the save feature so I can look up what I want to try next- especially for podcasts. Questions about what podcasts to listen to gets really repetitive and I wish there was an easy way to search recommendations from users, perhaps sorted by genre? I have definitely found some podcasts that I want to try and I don’t think I would have found them by myself.

great book reccomender!. this app has helped me alot with finding books that really suit me! I find myself lost looking for books sometimes because there's just so many and sometimes I chose the wrong one then feel like I wasted my money. But since I got this app, it's helped me from that problem because then I can just look for that book! not only does it have reccomendations for books, but people can also reccomend you tv shows/movies and podcasts!

Unless My Little Pony is your favorite movie. There’s a ton of trolls making this app completely useless. I thought the community feature was interesting, “what’s your favorite movie of all time?” Queue a flurry of recommendations from children who recommend Balto, Barbie, Spirit, My Little Pony, etc. It’s utter trash and the recommendations are useless. One person will add 100 recommendations to a single post, highjacking that initial request. Great concept but very poorly executed. I’d say it’d be great for children to use but it isn’t, since it has free form text communication, that’s dangerous for young kids, who are apparently the only ones using this app anyways. I also only wanted to use the tv/movie feature and the app makes that very difficult. Also asks nonstop to invite your contacts to the app. Trash!

Mediocre at best. I want to like this but there are just so many problems. The interface is clunky. Searching is hit or miss - author and/or series searches bring up nothing. It has to be by individual book. Lists need more sorting options so you can actually find what you’re looking for. I also read a lot of indie and self published books and a lot of diverse books (queer, bipoc, etc.) - so many of these titles are not on this app. If you read the popular stuff usually by straight white authors than this app is okay. If not, there are many other good, inclusive book tracking apps out there.

Minor problem has just started with 13.4. Hello. I have been a Likewise user for some time now. I like the app, and the idea behind it. Anyways, I have spotted a bug which I believe had just started with the iOS 13.4 update that was released. If you have Likewise on your device, it will appear under “Suggestions” in the Apps area of the share sheet. Previously - as in like a week ago, if you selected this option Likewise would either display an error message or a sharing option. As of this moment, it does neither. It just seems to freeze the app. I’ve had it freeze Woot, Pinterest and other apps. It should work, and it really shouldn’t freeze an iOS app. Please fix if possible!

Mostly good with one problem. I found the app useful for finding new things and I've actually come across books and shows I might not have seen otherwise. My issue is that the app only allows you to comment on a show/movie/book/podcast if you like it. If you press dislike or ignore it, you won't be allowed to make a comment. I find this a problem because I always like to see what negative things people might have to say about something before I watch it. Overall nothing is lost except potentially some wasted time, though.

First App I’ve Recommended to Friends in a While!. This app is wonderful! Im a huge book nerd, and I’m always looking for new recommendations based on what I like. The app’s algorithm gives you suggestions, but there’s also a community section where you can ask other Likewise members to recommend their favorites based on what you’re looking for! I posted asking for a certain niche subgenre of romantic comedy and got several suggestions from the community within a day! I definitely recommend Likewise to those looking to find their new favorite books.

great idea, needs improvement. i really like the concept, i’ve only found site spike this for books and movies so i’m happy to get to find new shows and podcasts as well. The system that is supposed to find similar content however is a little off. for example if you look for “similar to this” on an adult animation the recommended will be full of kids shows. it would be great if we could narrow similarity down more from just genre. I do really like the layout though and that you can filter by streaming service, i’m hopeful for new updates and will keep using the app.

Scam app! They make promotions to get ppl to download and fail to follow through!. So I downloaded and signed up for this app after reading about all the incentives and promises that they would send you if you did certain things. However, after I completed the incentives I never received the promised gift. So I email them middle of OCTOBER 2021 with concrete proof that I completed every task. First it was an email that said “oh we’ve been swamped with all the responses we have until December 31st 2021 to send them out”. Well that date came and went still NOTHING! So I reach out AGAIN! This time they say oh the time is past and you didn’t qualify (even though I did and have SCREENSHOT PROOF!!) and now that it’s past December 31st 2021 they say we can’t do anything now our decision is final. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!! DONT TRUST THIS COMPANY!

Diminishing returns. I came to this app specifically to find more horror movies and LGBTQ+ books. At first, the app worked really well, but after a few weeks, none of my recommendations were based off of things I had actually liked. The number of rom-com suggestions were insane. Some days I'd be lucky to have one horror movie suggested. I also got the feeling that at one point LGBTQ+ books were being censored as searching the hashtags produced no results (searching for other genres/themes did). It's not a bad app, but it needs a lot of work.

Not a lot of book recommendations. I downloaded the app specifically for book recommendations and I barely got any. The app kept recommending the same couple of books that I had already swiped on. There was also no option to say that I wasn’t mistreated in the book, that way I could get some new recommendations. I tried to search for books by black authors and got nothing back. Very disappointed because the ads made it seem like this app was the hub for books and it’s not. The sign up process was good until the app literally made me send invites to other ppl before I could even get into the app and start using it. I didn’t like that. That was weird.

Suggestion. It is a wonderful app, so easy to manage with great selections and recommendations, my only suggestion is to make the app even better is to add an Anime tab along with books, movie, and tv. It would make it more diverse and appeal to an audience. I know so many anime watchers are wondering what to watch next and have trouble finding things that are similar to anime’s they like. A different tab than tv because most people like different genres then their usual tv shows and it could get confusing for recommendations. I would love to see this I love using the app and always recommend it to friends!

Love this app, but.... I like this app a lot, but there is somethings that gives me a headache. When I first go into the app, You wanted to get to know me better with movies books and podcasts. I did it, I put in what movies/shows, podcasts and books I like, but I had know idea that it would be on my profile visible for everyone to see. Which makes me a bit uncomfortable. So please make an update about an option to delete things on our profiles. I looked everywhere to find how to remove it.

Where is the in app support? I can only pick one author an only one opportunity to choose anything?. Just downloaded the app, it let me choose what I like, I chose books, put in an author, chose books I had read, then hit done. Why am I putting all of this here? Because there is no obvious support option in the app. There is also no guidance beyond a quick pop up that is not repeated as you move from section to section trying to find the original screen that I was setting preferences on. Do the designers assume that we have their familiarity with the app? Or do they assume that the user only likes one author? I will cheerfully update or change this review if things improve, but as it is, I’d avoid this app.

Pretty good but one major flaw. I really like this app so far. I do think the recommendations are hit or miss but I don’t mind scrolling through the lists or categories to find new things I want to watch/read. I do find it annoying that I can’t turn off recommending podcasts since I don’t want to see those, but that’s not a dealbreaker for me. My biggest problem is that I can no longer delete items off lists. I like to keep various lists of movies/books but they’re useless if I can’t update them by both adding items to and taking items off them. I hope there’s an update soon to re-add that feature!

Praise and a request. Truthfully I’ve never made a review so this says a lot. This app categorizes every movie, show and podcast you seen and liked. It is a clean setup and helps me go through movies I’ve already seen and reminds me how good they are. I’ve already found like 4 movies that I’m interested in watching soon. In the end, good app, I like it. You should get it. The request is to the creators of the app. I was wondering if a category in video games could be added besides the shows and movies category? I’ve been wishing for a setup like this to help me find new video games. Anyways nice job on the app guys, five stars.

5/5. This app is great and the interface is great! The app already knows what shows/movies/books/podcasts are similar to the ones you like! Plus there’s the added bonus of other users also making recommendations! It’s really helpful if you liked something for a specific reason and people know other stuff that had it too. Consider adding a video game category, cause it would be really helpful to get both the opinion of the system and users!

?????. I love the concept, don’t get me wrong, but I feel there is a lot to be fixed. First of all, there are multiple bugs that would improve the app if fixed. Like writing your bio! And scrolling on any function is a bit glitchy. The activity has been getting dryer and dryer ever since I downloaded. Especially since PIX. I like the idea of an AI, but my god PIX is completely irrelevant. The option to turn it off was greatly appreciated 🙏. I also miss the DMs, although I understand why the function was disabled, I still miss it. The idea of the app was to connect people with similar media interests, but it seems to lack any personal connection at all.

Amazing app. I so recomend this app for book, show, and podcasts lovers. You find new amazing books, tv/movies and podcasts of your liking. If you want a new book, new show/movie or podcast to see or listen to, you can ask others explain what type of book, show, podcast you want and you’ll get your recommendations by many people. You can also get recommendations by the app by its ‘today’ tab. I use it everytime I need a good book to read. Love it so much!

Great app but…. Super fun app, great way to meet people with the same interests as you, and you also get really interesting/fun recs!! Only thing I would say that would make it THAT much better is adding a feature where you can sort your saved by steaming service for the movies/tv shows (for example “Sort by Available on Netflix”). It’s be really helpful I think. And I know everything is already tagged by what it’s on but it’s be really nifty if there was a feature that would let us sort them. Other than that, really great app, thanks so much!! 🤠

Thought This Would Be Good For Recommendations. I thought the point of the app was to have an algorithm to help me find things. Instead, the only way to find decent suggestions is to search for other user’s curated lists. None of the recommendations the app has made have come any close to what I would enjoy. The only reason it has ever gotten anywhere near the realm of what I would read is when it recommends a book by an author who’s book I’ve already liked. It would do better to have the ability to dislike things and reject suggestions so the recommendations could be better curated. Please fix your algorithm, especially for graphic novels. They aren’t a genre. Just because I like Sandman doesn’t mean I’ll like Scholastic’s Babysitter’s Club graphic novels.

Not really user friendly. I found this app earlier today through an Instagram ad stating that I'd be able to get date night recommendations for Valentine's Day. I downloaded and signed up for the app, assuming that it would be somewhat easy to search for exactly what I was looking for. All I was met with was frustration and confusion through my time using the app. I decided to just delete after wasting my time trying to figure out how this app works. I think it would be very useful if there were some kind of tutorial immediately after signing up. I still have no idea how to find date night recommendations for Valentine's Day in my specific area, nor do I care to anymore since this app is frustrating and confusing for a user such as myself.

AMAZING APP (but I have a few suggestions). So I love this app and it works very well for me. But I really wish that there was video games that you might like on there too. I love the book suggestions and the movie suggestions but I would really like if there was a video game suggestions area. If you are a gamer then you will probably agree with this because it is so hard to find a game you like after you finish a game that you really liked (if that makes sense). Please put this into consideration. Be safe, Thank you, and BYE!!!!!

New update ruins custom lists. I really enjoy Likewise, especially creating custom lists from my favorite films and shows. The newest update however absolutely ruins the ability to add items to lists, which was my favorite part of the site. The other changes are fine, just please fix the issue with the lists. When I go to add an item, it should provide a list of things I have watched, not a whole bunch of currently trending items that I haven’t, and it doesn’t show every list when I attempt to add from the item page.

I wanted to like this app. I have been wanting to start reading books for a LONG time, but getting recommendations from friends doesn't really work when all they read is horror. So, I thought I'd download the app. The interface is very nice and easy to navigate through the first few screens. First, it has you choose what type of recommendations you want (tv/movies, books, and podcasts.) Then, you choose what genres you like. Then, the last step I could get to myself for books, was to choose 10 you liked reading. I dont have any. I realize that this may just be a "me" problem, but it makes me really sad because I want to get into reading more :(

Irrelevant Recommendations. I've been able to find some good books through this app but only by doing a lot of my own digging. The "Books similar to" recommendations are usually pretty good so if I go to a book I like and look for others that way, it works. However, the daily recommendations that come up are usually WAY off. I'm constantly getting YA novels, fantasy, and romance despite not having rated any other books like them and not following those genres. And their curated lists seem to be geared towards a much younger audience as well. I'm in my mid-30s but sometimes this app makes me feel ancient!

Surprised by how much I love it. Downloaded it because I kept getting bombarded by ads on my social medias. I LOVE IT I can describe what kind of book I want to read and get suggestions from other real life book readers, there’s discussion posts, you can save books you want to read, suggest good books to others, it’s like a virtual book club (in a good this is one of the positives of social media way not a pandemic-y your book club has no choice but to meet virtually way). (You can also use it for TV/movies and podcasts but I mainly just use it for books)

Waste of time. This app is truly terrible, first off they only give you a handful of recommendations and once you’ve looked through them you have to wait until the next day to get more. This app also really bad at doing what is promises, I downloaded to app to find movies I’ve never heard of or hidden gems, when setting it up I chose obscure films in hopes to find similar movies, NOPE it only gave me Hollywood blockbusters that anyone who spends time online has already heard of. If you’re wanting to get recommend already popular, multimillion dollar budget movies that you’ve heard of then this app is great, but if your looking for actual recommendations that fit your taste don’t even bother with this and go to reddit. Garbage app, probably sells your data and gets paid to promote movies to you.

Great, except…. I really like this app. It has helped me find podcasts and tv shows similar to ones I already like, and the comments from other users are very helpful. But the comments feature has an annoying “bug” (I’m calling it a bug because it’s a problem): it’s hard to locate! The option to leave a comment on an item you’ve checkmarked should appear automatically, but it doesn’t. Consequently there are plenty of users asking online how to leave a comment. I implore the developers to change how/when this option appears.

Sharing contacts required for use?. Was interested in using this app for getting better recommendations for finding new shows or movies to watch, but the app requires that you share your contacts to finish the setup process. Interestingly, if you set up your account up to the point where it forces you to share contacts, you can just switch over to the desktop web version and your Likewise profile as well as the site itself is completely functional. The developers should be ashamed at how brazen they are trying to get my contacts from my phone. Their website does not require it once you perform the initial sign up on the app.

Recommendations are hit or miss. Pros: You can set what streaming services you have and it’ll only give you suggestions in those services. You only have to do this once when you set the app up. Imdb makes you set that up everything you search for picks. Gives movies, tv & book recommendations. Cons: Some recommendations are horrible. For example, it suggested Power Rangers to me because I like action and adventure. And the number of recommendations are few. It recommends about 5 to 6 in a day and if you do not like any of them, then you have to wait until the next day to get new recommendations. It does not allow you to refresh and get different recommendations.

Glitches. Update: The issue seems to have been fixed and now I can use the entire app! It’s very enjoyable. User friendly things like being able to weed out categories that we are NOT interested in are a lost star but the app is fun and I’ve already gotten some great recs! Thanks to the customer service team for their willingness to help out! Old Review: What I’ve been able to use of the app has been truly wonderful but I can’t access any of the lists and sometimes book recommendations. I click on them and just get a blank screen that never loads. I’ve checked my connection, I’ve made sure the app was updated, and I’ve restarted my phone. Same issue every time. I can’t even use the app as it was meant to be used because of this and it’s very disappointing. I’ll keep trying. If the issue gets fixed I’ll update my review.

The Search System is Confusing. I didn’t get past putting in my 10 favorite books because the results that come up make no sense. Sometimes typing in the title brings up a book, sometimes only the author’s name, sometimes you need both. I also don’t understand the set of books they are searching from. I wanted to add a book called Parakeet and before any novels there were books on how to care for parakeets. I can’t imagine anyone reads parakeet guides for fun and is looking for more recommendations. I think if you read a lot of books that are popular this would be useful, but I don’t think it can recommend anything if you read lesser known genres.
