Never Gift Alexa Astra. Received as a gift, unfortunately the HK Alexa Setup app doesn’t work. It just hung at the screen suggesting Enable WIFI network despite WiFi already unable and active.

Finally works!. This is an edit to my original review. It looks like the folks at Harmon Kardon / Alexa read the reviews (which I originally gave them one star for and now five), and fixed the problem with other reviewers connecting their Harmon Kardon Astra speaker. They actually provided more in depth instructions in how to connect the Astra to Wi-Fi. Finally. Thank you.

Agreed, but.... So initially, this thing wasn’t powering up and I thought I too had another paperweight to add to my collection of actual paperweights. The scathing reviews seemed justified. And then, I decided to put my engineering skills to work (I am a lawyer) and bent the plug prong. I plugged it in and it made a terrible crackling sound and powered up. If you can get it to work and power up, setup Is easy and the thing sounds amazing. It’s actually beautiful too. So, I admit - sketchy for the units to be so unpredictable, but when it works, it’s fantastic. Sound is beautiful...

WiFi Setup. I am having the most difficult time setting up my WiFi to my new speaker... I have followed directions step by step and I am still unable to get it connected... just frustrating

No settings?... Tried changing my name.. can’t find the settings 😑.. Alexa is no help on that.

Beautiful speaker I can’t use. Probably the most expensive paperweight I’ve ever purchased. I’ve had this speaker for almost a year, I even sent it back to HK to have it looked at, they claim they reset it. Since the day I unboxed this speaker I have not been able to use it. Will not connect to the app, can’t even use it as a Bluetooth speaker cause it needs to be set up first. Worst product, very disappointed

Frustrating. What a shame. It could be great but it is horrible. The most frustrating apps I have to deal with. It simply does not work 99% of the time. I should have read the reviews here before buying an Harmon Kardon Alexa speaker now I’m screwed.

App no longer connects. I guess it was the last update 2 weeks ago, but now when I try to use the app the app it keeps telling me “Your phone doesn’t enable Wi-Fi connection”. It was working perfectly before. My Allure portable is still reachable and controlled by Alexa app, so the problem is with the app itself.

Yellow ring of death. Same issue as others. I have a yellow ring that seemingly even the developers didn’t know existed and the speaker will no longer work. Keeps telling me my product is unregistered but worked perfectly fine for the first few months before refusing to connect and there is nothing in the app about it being unregistered.

Bull crap. I’ve had this speaker for months and it still want allow me to setup my WiFi. Sprint is a dang thief for even selling me this for 70.00. I hate it.

Worst app everrrrrrrrrr. Do not bother. But a speaker that connects to your phone; not Alexa this app does not work and I am disappointed with all these negative review they did not attempt to fix it. 👎🏻

Can’t sign in to Amazon. Worked with my HK Allure for a couple weeks until the message; “having trouble connecting to the internet”. Tried to reconfigure but can’t get passed the step to sign into Amazon, with message “login timeout”. (Signing into Amazon through web works instantly). I have tried going back to setup mode, tried going back to factory reset, deleted and reinstalled the app. Nothing works, can’t get passed the step to sign into Amazon, with message “login timeout”. Please help.

Doesn’t work. Won’t connect to my WiFi, or Alexa.

Great paper weight. Purchased from sprint a few months ago came home connected and everything worked great. Fast forward to last night stopped working and won’t connect waste of money now! Really disappointed

App it good product is ok. Got the astra today and set it up went through all the instructions for a few hours and I don’t know if it’s the app that won’t let it respond or what but when I say “alexa” it will not do anything

Horrible. Worked the first time I set it up but stopped connecting 2 days later, my internet is strong and running other devices without issue. Now when I try to find the Astra through this app it is not able to find my Astra speaker. Very disappointed to say the least.

Simple App. Bought the HK Allure from Prime Day. Easy connection with newest update version of the app. However, it is just a simple app that you only use it for turning the light on/off. An EQ function or others are highly recommended to improve.

HK Astra - A year of frustration. This speaker has been a pain in my side for a year. Often looses connection. The latest...I cannot get it to pair with my new iPhone 12. I’m ready to throw it in the trash! Not worth the aggravation anymore.

App stopped connecting☹️. App won’t connect to my harman kardon astra. It initially helped me set it up but after a bit my astra was connected and when I tried to reset using all the options it still would not connect at all!! Frustrating!! Took it back to sprint and they said that it seems like there is a problem with the Bluetooth. (On the Astra or the app??) either way it’s still not working. According to sprint I’ll have to file a warranty claim as it has at least a year warranty on it and it’s been 2weeks shy of making a year. I found the original purchase receipt and now am waiting to hear from harman Kardon... hope they honor their warranty.

will not get past wifi setup. returning product to Sprint speakwr will not link to amazon to register product to use along with Alexa. After the speaker is connected to the internet the screen will return a connection failed message. not worth the effort

Useless. I paid almost 80$ for this useless stuff. Money wasted

App is Fine , Need Factory Reset. This app does the job fine. If you’re HBO g problems connecting the speaker to WiFi to the speaker using the App, you’ll simply need to reset by using a small pin to press the button next to where the power plug is inserted into the device. I learned this from Mario at Hk support who was an absolute stud trouble shooter!

Does not work on iPad. This App does not let me finish setup, I had to use my Android phone to complete.

Smh. Worst speaker ever!! Always have a hard time connecting. I have to redownload the app every single time. After having it over 2 yrs now it won’t connect at all.

Awful. Awful app. And, unfortunately, leads HK Astra to be nothing more than an overpriced Bluetooth speaker. No help. No customer support. Just the same error message through the App.

Worst setup, impossible to use. Have been trying to connect this allure for three hours!!! This company is ripe for a class action lawsuit, how can you sell a product that does NOT WORK!!! Going to return it, and buy something like a JBL that has what’s called a SEAMLESS user interface, BEWARE, if you buy the allure, you will never hear a note of music playing from it because the app will not connect to ANY network.

Same problem as other reviewers. This speaker would sound great if it worked. Can’t get it to connect, it just spins and spins. I went on YouTube and found out how to connect and as I’m watching the video it seems like it should be really easy, however it keeps saying I need to enable WiFi and it’s already enabled. Update ... dead .... I bought hk allure and this thing started an update and end of story. ...Just using it as Bluetooth speaker.

Set up. I’m having problems setting up the HK Astra. It keeps telling me it’s having trouble connecting to internet!

I can’t get it registered. So I got the speakers today from my sprint store. I really enjoyed the sound. However. Following the application instructions is simple however, once it tells me the Internet is connected and the speakers have been paired it gives me a connection failure even though I see it connected. And for some reason the volume keeps getting louder and softer. How can I get help.

One is giving it to much praise!. The sound of this speaker is great but if you are buying it for the Alexa connection that it has look somewhere else. It will not connect to any other smart devices in the house. Meaning you are getting a lesser version of Alexa. This needs to be fixed before I would consider giving it a better review. Wouldn’t recommend purchase.

Same problem - app won’t discover device. Just purchased HK Astra from Sprint store... downloaded app and upon immediate and first attempt to set up device there is NO SPINNING WHITE LIGHT RING as the instructions indicate there should be. Pressing reset and the mic button as the instructions indicated to reset WiFi for setup also has NO EFFECT whatsoever. App won’t discover device. 10/14/2018 unsure if device is defective but will be returning it tomorrow.

Poor. This app will not connect with my WiFi. Very poor instructions on directions included with speakers. Back to Srint Store for a refund ?

Will not connect. Purchase about 2 weeks ago downloaded this app to help with setup connects to WiFi shows connection on phone but Alexa keeps having trouble connecting to internet no way to use it with out connecting to the device very dissatisfied with this purchase

Astra won’t connect. Can not connect my harman Kardon astra after numerous attempts. It was connected the first few days. Lost connection and cannot reconnect

App needs work. I recently upgraded my routers. I have HK Alure portables that have worked fine for years. But after my new network was in place one would not connect. After a lot of troubleshooting I reset it to factory. Only to discover that the app had not been updated for two years and would freeze during Wi-Fi setup. I bought a HomePod Mini. Then I see that the app was updated just days ago. So I try again. You get to the step where it says connecting to Wi-Fi and checking for update and it fails. But it didn’t fail. Whose stupid idea was it to make that a single step! What failed was likely the connection to check for updates as the Alure portable has been discontinued. My firewall shows both Alure devices on wi-if. And The app shows both devices and I was able to re-register with Alexa. Unless you are totally discontinuing support for the Alure portable then that step needs to be split. Otherwise remove the Alure portable from the app. I give this 2 stars because my skills got this to work despite poor app design.

It doesn’t let me access the Home option on the app. It’s all around a good app but it just won’t let me access the home part of it because its not even there. Someone please help me with this

1.8 stars overly generous.. Well, I’m another victim of the “ soundless” speaker. It could be used during Halloween to add a spooky fee to a haunted house. The app won’t upload to my phone, it turns on but that’s about it! As I said, makes no sound, nor connects to anything. I want my money back. I may be reaching out to Consumer Affairs and find out if this Allure speaker qualifies for a recall as many consumers complain about the same thing. Wish Hartman Kardon /JBL or whoever is responsible to reach out to consumers and set things right.

Sound control needed. This app is quite basic. It would be great to be able to control bass, mid and treble to adjust for music styles. An EQ function would be great.

Horrible Setup. I bought this today for our store and while waiting for it to setup I read the reviews here. Let me tell you...they aren’t wrong. Got the app and then it connected immediately to the speaker, setup wireless, found update... won’t restart. Waited almost 15 minutes (not my internet because i ended up downloading another game while I waited) and nothing. I restarted the speaker and it wasn’t recognized by my phone. Entered startup again...it connected to the speaker but now it says my internet is down. Powered down again and now my phone couldn’t find the device. So now I am sitting here 30 minutes before people are coming to see the store for the first time and I don’t have music. Good job HK

🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄. I had no problem connecting the speaker the first time but all of a sudden it said I was offline 🤦🏽‍♀️ I followed all the steps and still nothing I’m so irritated this speaker was NOT cheap

Device went offline and will not reconnect. My Harman Kardon Astra connected when I purchased in September. It did well for one month and went offline. I returned to this appl to connect it again and it will not reconnect. Tried many days and hours. Im going to return this expensive piece of equipment back to the sprint store. Appl nor equipment works

Allure - So promising, so disappointed!!. Cuts out constantly playing from Bluetooth or WiFi, and I just pulled it out of the box!! COME ON!!!

Connection to the WiFi. Most pathetic product I ever bought. All my other devices would connect straight away, but HK Alexa astra would just not find my network.

Awesome. I thought it was a bad app based on the reviews. Till I discovered the reset button near the power port and now it works like a charm. All complaining should try that

Hk alexa. Worst ever. Cannot reconnect to wifi

If I could give zero stars I would. Absolute GARBAGE. You can’t even search for available WIFI on this app, you have to manually type everything in. It won’t sync properly and the two times that it did it was for a very short time. Won’t connect to Alexa. Complete POS. I actually can’t believe people pay ~$500 for a speaker that runs this program. Wow.

Can't update. I've tried to update the device with this app. No use. It simply doesn't work. The update keeps failing. What a waste of money to not being able to obtain the most recent add-ups! Not talking about how everyone is complaining about the same problems with the Astra and nobody's doing anything to solve these problems. No feedback from HK nor the developers at all, anywhere.

HK Astra. I got this unit for free when I purchased an IPhone and this the value of the product absolutely nothing won’t connect to internet. And won’t sync to Bluetooth.

Can’t setup, returning HK Alexa. Spent time to setup this device using multiple OS. Doesn’t remember wifi credentials, which is fundamental for UX for an application. Must be designed by some junior developer. Failed to setup device so going to return this. Will buy the google version of it. I’ll bet Google’s soft. engineer can get it right the first time.

Useless beyond belief. Alexa tells me ten times a day to register - however the app is totally useless and will not connect or register. How can a quality company like HK be associated with this piece of junk!

Took a lot of tries to connect my iPhone X to the speaker and then it took forever trying to connect to the internet, finally it gives up and makes you start again. Overall not bad. I’d like to start off by saying I was quite skeptical of this speaker because of the poor reviews on here describing this app so poorly to connect etc.. Let me say that the connection to my iPhone XS was simple the connection was a little slow where I had to manually enter the wifi information however I managed to connect in less then 5 mins right out of the box. And now I’m gladly enjoying the 360 degree sound from my Harmon kardon speaker. App needs a update but it does the trick.

HK lost years of loyal customer. Stay away from HK speakers waste of money, app connects lose connection at some point after 1-2 months and never connect again

Not to bad. I’ve heard a lot of bad reviews but I had a little trouble with a older phone but when I used my iPhone 11 Pro it worked fine and speaker works great

Does Not Connect. What a painful process in connecting. Tried everything, an hour later, still does not connect. Horrible experience for such a high end product. Very disappointed. My Amazon Echo connected with ease. Can't say the same about this HK app 😬

Garbage. but I’ll read these reviews & Google it. 10 months without an update sounds like abandonware to me. Just like trying to speak to a human at Amazon on a mobile phone/chat.

It works just fine for me. I have seen a lot of negative reviews but for me it worked just fine on my first try! No hassle no hiccups just follow the steps.

Can’t leave no star review. This is the worst app experience I have ever had. Bought two Astra speakers for gifts and tried to set them up in advance. After an hour of getting nowhere I gave up. They are going back. Nothing should be engineered this poorly in this day and age.

Do not buy this the Harmon Kardon Astra. I got the speaker for Christmas and it worked fine for 3 months. Then it stopped working and I GOT THE RED RING OF DEATH. Now it won’t connect at all. Tried to do a reset and am not getting any kind of connection with this app. It just freezes. Again ... don’t waste your money.

Not user friendly setup. I won this speaker. After reading all the reviews I figured I had a doorstop. Took me all day but I eventually got it set up. Do not connect to the Astra in Wifi setting, once I connected the Astra in Bluetooth I was able to set it up by manually entering our wifi account name and password. The app then has to update so I made sure my phone was plugged in and walked away and let it do its thing. Sounds good once you can get it connected.

Garbage app. What are you waiting to update this app to be usable..!!?? This is complete useless garbage you can't do anything with this... How come follow up mode is not supported on the Astra!!?? Good think this less than mediocre speaker came free with my JBL mediocre headphones... But from this day, I will never buy a Harmon Kardon/JBL product again...:((

Believe the reviews. I have an Astra that I can't use with Alexa because it won't let me sign in, all I get is a fail message, garbage speaker and garbage app

Instructions are incorrect. - press and hold the BT botton for 5 sec to connect your iphone to speaker -you have to type the wifi name and password.lol

Harmon kardon - the worst wifi device I have experienced so far. The application is not able to find HK Alure portable after spending hours with it. Not clear if the app is broken or the speaker is, I’ll return it back ASAP!

Automatically detect wifi networks. This app doesn’t automatically detect wifi networks. You need to type it in manually. Apparently we are in the Stone Age.
