Ass. This app is so confusing like it’s not even useful

Makes no sense. When you add a video to one of your classes, it will not show how it is stored. Furthermore, it’s very difficult to keep track of where you put the video(s) or picture(s). From my perspective, it relies heavily on memorization. I would rate 1 star if I could.

Meh at Best. Poor UI Confusing Basically a worse Google Classroom

Please fix it. I have to use this app for my classes and it’s not letting me sign in or logged in whatever please fix it. Thank you.

Y tho. Every kid I n my class got it working after an hour and a half except me cuz the app said it was not compatible with my school!?!?? I tried 8 times before giving up, I reset my phone, re download the app changed WiFi used cell service, an nothing. Also SUPER CONFUSING!!!!

Can’t Switch Accounts. I have 2 kindergarteners and this app has made it IMPOSSIBLE to just switch accounts back and forth for each child. Who invented this confusing and non functional app? Good grief!

Bad. Doesn’t even load when I scan the QR code it’s just a white screen cringe bad I wish I can give 0 stars never using this again cringe

Sucks!. This thing won’t let me scan my kids class code! Which she is forced to use to submit her homework. This whole brightspace/portfolio website and app the Toronto school board is using is complete garbage!

Very frustrating to use. Not intuitive and too many steps. Can’t downtown on my Mac laptop, so forced to use iPhone. When selecting Family Device, I have to scan QR code every time. What if I don’t have it with me or I lose it? Then I can’t submit any work. When selecting My Device, it doesn’t log in so it’s useless. After submitting some work, I cannot view what I submitted. What if I want to resubmit or change something? Needs to be much more user friendly.

Too many steps. As an educator trying to use this app is frustrating. There are simply too many steps to submit evidence. Should be an option to set a default class, so I can skip picking the class every single time. Very unintuitive experience. Frankly, downright awful.

terrible. d2l and portfolio together are extremely hard to use and cannot upload google docs,microsoft word etc. you have to take a screenshot of everything and move it between devices. makes remote learning extremely hard

So hard to use.. I wish everything was on the same app (portfolio and the classes) it’s also really hard to work. I can never figure out how to hand anything in or check my grades. I wish it was exactly like the website but in the app form. Or more like google classroom.

Doesn’t Work. The website version works but the app will not let me sign in. It says the server is not available. The school and teacher tried to help but there is no tech help or anyone to contact. Very disappointed!!!

Irritating. Why does there have to be a horrible app for something that can go on the website fix this garbage annoying app

Worst app I’ve ever used.. No really. Worst app EVER. Nothing links to my child’s account. None of the messages or photos the teacher posts show up. The website works great. The app is simply a pretty icon on my phone.

The worst UI, so confusing. I hate this useless app. Why are you forcing me to use a qr code everytime i want to login in as if I have a piece of paper stapled to my body at all times. Can i even see the work in the portfolio? It isnt clear. Whats the difference between my device or family device? Possibly the worst app i have ever been forced to use.

Disappointing. As a software developer, my user experience with this application has been disappointing. PRO: 1. Brightspace's attempt to use QR code's CON: For starters.... 1. QR code does not always work 2. Entering valid credentials for ''my device" does not always work (sometimes you get a 404 error). 3. "My device" workflow is useless if you want to submit homework for multiple siblings 4. "At Home With Funster" sometimes the monster doesn't work I want this product to work, I really do. That said... IMHO further debugging & a proper usability test would go a long way.

Not great if using for more than one child. This app is easy to use in terms of uploading photos and videos. Even allows you to record your voice. What is annoying is when I want to use the App for more than one portfolio. I have to fully sign out and re-enter all of the information to sign into each of my daughters accounts. It would be much easier if I could stay signed into my institutions d2l (for example DSBN elearning) and save profiles/portfolios for my kids who are in different grades. This way I can easily move between each of their portfolios as needed at different times throughout the day.

Why on god’s green warts can you NOT put google drive things in the portfolio on this app????. Title says it all, it’s REALLLLY stupid that it’s missing such a basic feature

Absolute garbage. I would only recommend this app if you’re actually trying to punish students. I don’t know why they don’t just use google classroom, it has way better and way more features.

Dumb app!. This app is so stupid! We are using this app for my sons home schooling during covid crap! First of all, why doesn’t it keep asking for the stupid passcode each and every time u r done taking a pic or recording a video! Every single time and it not like u actually have the passcode all the time somewhere bec it has to scan! U so record a video and for most of the time, after u record a video, it doesn’t say anything If the video is done or okay to send! This app is dumb and it’s useless! DO BETTER!!

Crop and rotate. It desperately needs a crop and rotate tool to upload images. The app has some failure to understand tilt and images usually come out upside down without a way to rotate and fix it.

Submitting. Why can’t I submit word documents on the app? I can only take pictures.

Horrible. This app is useless. Unfortunately if this is the platform your school is using you don’t really have any other options. Good luck.

So Many Issues!!. I’ve tried using this app on my iPhone, iPad and chrome book and have had issues with all 3. iPhone - only lets me take pictures landscape otherwise they show up sideways in portfolio and much of the work that my son does is portrait so I end up cutting off some of his work. It will allow me to record video but when I send it to portfolio there is no video just a black screen with the audio. IPad - i scan the QR code and it just says sign in and doesn’t do anything. Chrome book - allows me to take video and photo but when I hit submit it doesn’t actually show up in his portfolio. I am so annoyed I have to use this app!

Ahhhhhhh. I have been submitting my daughters work daily for two weeks, using the bar code. Used it last spring and it was fine. Now you’ve lost all her work. No one to help me retrieve it. Thank you for more aggravation in an all ready stressful time

No internet?. Whenever we go to scan code, it tells me that I have no Internet? I am connected to the web. The errors reads: Failed to connect. Double check your internet connection? I try this QR on different devices/ computers and won’t connect. Also, if I do it on my computer, the camera doesn’t read the QR code... the iPhone/ iPad does read the QR code... but fails to connect (error above)

Very easy to use! Perfect for primary grades!. This app is the selling feature for Brightspace. Funster mode makes it so easy for young children to use, as the Funster walks them through each step. It is perfect for collecting evidence from students whose oral language skills are stronger than their writing/typing skills. It is a must-have tool for distance learning!

Having issues with uploading. I’ve tried on multiple occasions to post and it doesn’t go through. My child has no work uploaded and it literally just said failed to upload 💀

Does not work well. This app is SUPER FRUSTRATING to use. It does not upload, the connection breaks and for people trying to do virtual school on the fly, this sucks.

Confusing.. We’re using this for my classes since covid. It doesn’t allow you to pick a few classes as my whole school is linked so I have to try and find my class each time I’m trying to upload work. It’s not horrible but 2-3 min to find the class is excessive. Also it doesn’t show you wether it has been uploaded or what has been uploaded. Sometimes my work doesn’t go through and my teacher calls my parents about it even though I have the work done and the picture on my phone to prove it. I’ve also uploaded the same picture multiple times because I’m not sure it’s went through. My teachers also can’t be giving me feedback or help through the app. So add a notification if work goes through, let you “favourite classes” and find some way to let teachers upload feedback.

What is this. Not even working for the intended purpose got it from my teachers D2L so I can access it without going through all the trouble and it just wants to upload photos?

Newest 1.15.2 broken. The newest Jan 2022 release is broken. Take photos of work but it never uploads to D2L personal portfolio. Previous versions worked fine.

Wish I could give negative stars. I choose “Family Device” and scan my child’s QR code. Take pictures and videos, they never appear on the other side. I choose “My Device” and scan my child’s QR code. I get the “Failed to Connect - Double-check your internet connection.” Error. Obviously I have internet access or I couldn’t be leaving this fantastic review.
