ITranslate Converse Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Tricked into Paying/Must Use Perfect Diction. I thought this was a free app but later found out I was charged. Also, this app does not do a good job of transcribing what you say if you do not use very clear diction. Siri picks up on less than perfect diction much better than this app, even though to the best of my understanding Siri cannot translate. I deleted this from my phone within a day for this reason. One month later I found out I had been charged a $5 fee for one months usage of the app. The impression I get is that the app developer has knowingly created the setup installation process in such a way that if you do not read ALL the fine print you will accidentally sign up for the pay subscription. Read every bit of fine print or you to may accidentally end up signing up for the pay subscription. This is a terrible business model. Make a good product and people may pay. Don’t trick them into paying you for a mediocre product that they deleted off their phone a month ago due to poor voice recognition.

In appropriate subscription model. Read the critical reviews. Developer’s responses are just defensive. Developer is right, you may exit the trial screen. a big HOWEVER though: there is a LARGE orange button that says “Continue” with a link that says price plans. This is super misleading as the continue button enters you into the pro version and there is not very much of an indicator there after that you have. BE WARNED... all you need to do is ignore the large orange continue button and click on the not even remotely obvious, dark grey, x in the top of the screen (screen is black btw). Other than this... does a good job. Unfortunate that the devs have to be so sneaking and defensive.

Expensive and unethical. No. It doesn’t matter how well it works, I’m simply not paying a monthly subscription for what Google Translate does for free. What is it with developers? How many people are going to pay monthly for something like this? Put an ad at the bottom and you’ll get users. Further, the developer puts a sneaky splash screen upon first opening that can and has tricked people into paying for the pro version. Read the comments on the App Store. A totally unethical practice, don’t touch anything by this developer. Response to Developer: The implementation of the upgrade is clearly designed to trick people into accidentally subscribing to PRO. It is the first thing that appears and is misleading. It requires just a touch to try and remove the screen to get duped into signing up with Face ID. You have many complaints in these comments about this. It is unethical and sneaky.

Great English to Japanese and Japanese to English translation. A lot of apps mess up translation to or from Japanese. This one does a great job. I can only rate it based on the translation between those two languages because English and Japanese are the only two languages I know. So far in my testing it blows away google translate for this use case. Also it’s fast, and of course it also has the advantage of allowing you to speak and have your speech translated.

Translations Not Accurate & Not Free. I am bilingual (English and Spanish)...so you are probably wondering why I downloaded the app. I downloaded it so that it could translate back and forth between English and German because my boyfriend is German and his parents and some of his friends don’t speak English. My German is also very limited so that doesn’t help either. I wanted to test out the app by speaking Spanish to see if the app would translate right into English and vise versa and I was shocked by if 2 of the most spoken languages in the world (aside from Chinese) aren’t translated well then I can’t trust it to translate between my English and German well, especially if it is a more complex language. I already deleted the app. I hope they make major improvements or make it free. I will have to stick to learning the language better on a different app I use and keep using the free translations apps (I am not going to pay $5 a month on this app if it doesn’t work well). If it was free then I’d consider it because it is just as bad as the free ones. Good luck developers (hire some more linguists). Oh and if anyone says this app works well, it is because they are not fluent and don’t know any better. Again, please hire linguists and learn conversational pieces to the languages (includes slang and you must hire linguists that were born and raised with the 2 languages you are trying to translate between to get it right).

Don’t click “continue” if you want the free app. Instead click the X.. The app seems to work well. But the set up process is very confusing and I believe deceptive. The developer needs to fix this to make it easier to understand how to choose between a paid and free app. During set up you are provided with a window that has a “continue” button that will automatically enroll you in a monthly subscription plan. There seems to be no other choice and there are no clear instructions on how to use the app for free other than the 7 day free period before the paid subscription begins. To use the free version of the app you have to dismiss the subscription window by clicking the “X” in the upper right corner of the window. Since this choice isn’t clearly delineated some people probably don’t know they have a choice or don’t fully understand what clicking the “continue” button means since it is the only obvious next step to set up the app. Perhaps this is why some reviewers believe they were scammed into subscribing. Perhaps they have a point.

Simply amazing!!. This summer I had a job that involved me working side by side with people from other countries. They spoke English but some things would get lost in translation. We used this app to explain our conversations in detail and it blew our minds!! It's a little tricky and confusing in the beginning but once you get started, it gets fun! Such a really cool app. We used Russian, Spanish (Mexico), Portuguese (Brazil) and English (USA). I definitely recommend it to help anyone translate conversations in real-time!!

Careful!!! Tricks you into a subscription. I don’t know if this is the new App Store System or the idea of the Developers. The App tricks you into a subscription just for downloading the App. If you’re not careful, you will be subscribed without any additional warnings. I noticed and immediately cancelled it. These practices should be stopped as everyone is entitled to transparency and understanding when he/she is subscribing to a service. Sorry for not rating the App itself but after this first impression I have lost trust and haven’t even tried it. —- Update: I now also received a response from the developer, saying that I don’t understand “how it works” and did not read the terms properly. I will leave it up to the reader to judge if users are supposed to read all terms and fine print for every downloaded app or if it is the developers job to ensure transparency (as 99% of developers already do) around when a user is charged or not. I am sure that the developer will continue to dig his heels and try to convince people that their payment terms as like anyone else. They are not. I have many apps and all the paid ones are very clear when it comes to request a payment. This app only uses a small Apple alert that can be easily missed. They know that and many buyers know that as well as you can see from the comment. My advice to the developer: when you’re in a hole, stop digging. Focus on fixing issues rather than on justifying your practices.

Learning a second language for training my dog. This plate form has been very useful for me while using it strictly to learn a foreign language that I am using strictly for the training of a dog I recently adopted. She is a German shepherd and Great Pyrenees mix and is at 2 yrs of age extremely too smart for her own good , being she not only can open the doors to my house to let herself out to chase rabbits and the neighborhood Karen’s but she has learned to unlock all doors in my house as well. Okay purpose for explaining that was I discovered that she was extremely bored when we were in town taking care of my dad at my ranch she stay’s put. Not so in town and after watching her I decided that she needed something to work her mind and well being I am not able to speak any language other than English I decided after Karen’s called animal control the second time that she needed to exercise her brain and must say that it was the easiest way to retain what is learned I have tried and failed to learn other language’s over the years and have always given up after a week or two but I have started learning one language to teach my dog commands and it was so helpful that I have started using it to learn the two languages I have always wanted to learn and never retained. Thank you for entertaining my dog and myself while teaching me German, Spanish and mandarin

They Subscribe You on Their Own. My boyfriend and I both downloaded this app so we could communicate with my cousin’s fiancée and her family. We were under the impression it was a basic, free version as nothing popped up saying there was a PRO version you could purchase monthly or annually. I just went into my subscriptions today and I was baffled to see an annual subscription to this app. I would never have downloaded it had I known this would happen and neither would my boyfriend. I think it’s extremely shady the app does this to customers and you have no idea. I want a refund for the annual subscription and so does my boyfriend.

Are they buying reviews?. This application had great reviews. I tried it out. I speak a little bit of several languages. This thing worked like garbage. The voice recognition was terrible and kept thinking I was saying the wrong thing, especially when I was speaking English and it thought I was speaking another language and English at the same time. When it actually got what I said correct, it did translate correctly. However, it took multiple attempts to get it to recognize what I was saying. There is absolutely no way you can carry a conversation with this thing. You’d be much better off holding a physical translation dictionary between the languages than using this. I also tried the Apple Watch app. I don’t have the words to express how terrible it is, but I will try. First off, it doesn’t work. I tried to get it to translate the word “hello”. Over a minute later still nothing. I have an extremely good fiber optic Internet connection so not having enough bandwidth is not the issue. The problem is the terrible program. Deleted the app.

My client was almost in tears!. I’m a salon manager of a pet grooming salon. I have a few clients who don’t speak a lot of English and I wanted to find a better way to communicate with them. I stumbled upon this app and downloaded it waiting for one of my non English speaking clients to come in. Yesterday was the day. I set up the free trial trying to see if it would work as well as I’d like and when my client came in I was able to ask her how she was doing and how her pet was doing in Japanese and her eyes got huge and she squealed with delight. We had our very first entire conversation about her and her pet. When she came back to pick up her dog she was able to tell me that she truly appreciated my kindness and that I was willing to go above and beyond to help her so she stopped at the Japanese market and bought my entire shop a bunch of snacks and candy. This app changed at least one of my clients lives for the better and that is worth 5$ a month in my honest opinion. Although some of the words she had said in Japanese were not translated correctly (whether it was her speed of talking or dialect I’m not sure) we were still able to converse pretty easily and I couldn’t be more satisfied. Maybe just work on recognition or dialect to improve some translations but otherwise this is changing my customer service for the better! Thank you to the whole team at converse for improving my customers lives!

Not user friendly and poor Pronunciation. Only two stars because I like the idea of it and because it has many languages. Besides that, this app needs a lot of work. It doesn’t clarify how to use it at all and it’s not specific enough where it needs to be. Where you get your translated phrase, there is no copy from the screen option. Huge disappointment. The app pronounces even the simplest phrases wrong in every language besides English. For some reason it changes voices randomly while using the app to long. Worst part, I subscribed for this app and it still asks me every time I use it to pay for a subscription. Wish it was better cause I like the idea but, there are better and free options out that do the same thing.

So far so good. I love this, I am trying to learn Spanish more since my husbands family doesn’t know much English. I spoke clearly and it translated perfectly. I can’t comment on the other languages as I don’t have much need for them. FOR THOSE THAT FEEL THAT THE APP TRICKED YOU TO PAY MONEY: When you first download this app and open it you will see the screen asking if you want to upgrade (this screen will pop up a few times FYI). It will have a huge bar that says continue. IF YOU DONT WANT TO PAY for pro do NOT press continue, all you need to do is tap the “x” on the top right of that screen. If you set up a trial you will have reoccurring payments, if you don’t want that you need to go into settings then press your name at the top. Then press iTunes and App Store. Then press on your Apple ID at the top, a screen will pop up, press VIEW APPLE ID. It will ask you to sign in, once you sign in scroll down and press SUBSCRIPTIONS. Here you can cancel any reoccurring payments. Great app!

Does not work. I have taken german for two years now and I wanted to see how well the app worked when I spoke German to translate to English. Not at all. I used my watch and phone and they didn’t work. My phone could translate from English to German (couple of messed up words) but it couldn’t do it in reverse. Instead my phone would give me an error. My watch however could not even translate anything not even english. All my stuff is up to date with everything and my phone and watch have nothing broken or anything. The app is no where near worth paying for and would recommend google translator instead for free like most people use.

Deceptive Developer. Insulting Developer Responses.. Please remove the deceptive splash screen that fools users into a PRO version they do not want. Just read all these negative user reviews, it’s shocking. As expected, each negative review is accompanied with an insulting developer response that tries to push unwanted subscription blame on Apple. If you feel this app does not translate accurately, be ready for the insulting developer response essentially telling you to take the marshmallows out of your mouth and go back school to learn dictation and grammar. I can only hope that going forward people do not become victims of this kind of deceptive development practice of luring users into an Apple subscription with confusing buttons that cause accidental sign ups. Apple should clearly be looking into this. I, for one, will be deleting this app and promise to always shed light on shady and insulting developers like this.

Back to shady practices. Well, they went back to making new users agree to the 7-day free trial before using the app. Even though there’s a free version it won’t let you do that unless you agree to pay $70 after the trail ends. So you have to then opt out of the subscription before your get charged. This was a problem that many users complained about, so under pressure they changed this, but now it’s back to the way it was before. So there’s no excuse, it’s obvious that they just hope people forget that they’re being charged. As far as the app, its records your speech and, after processing, plays back translated speech. This is something that the Apple Translate app already does for free.

Translation works well. I paid for the upgrade and it appears to runs much faster and smoother than the free version. Although the free version is ok and will get you by, the upgraded one is obviously going to be better because you pay for it. It has helped me in Mexico when I can’t remember certain words and the paid version lets you use offline mode which is nice. This offline mode is not available with the free version. So if you need to get by in a place with no cell/internet service it’s handy

Only Thing it Needs is More Languages!. Awesome free app that’s beautifully designed, simple to use, and features a few obscure offerings not present on Google Translate (such as European Portuguese and Cantonese). Even the paid version seems well worth it given the overall quality of the experience. The relatively small selection of languages (compared to Google) is its only downside for now, but I suspect it will gain more languages over time and I look forward to seeing where it goes.

Did not have language I needed but I was charged $77. I work in human services and we serve many refugees. We needed a Dinka translator and none of our interpreter lines offered that language. Google search indicated this app had Dinka so I downloaded it and apparently signed up for a trial without realizing? No idea how that happened but as soon as I realized Dinka was not a language option, I deleted the app (which I wouldn’t have done without first canceling subscription had I realized that I’d signed up for one). Next thing I know, I have a $77 charge. Apple service site says this app isn’t eligible for refunds, but I have no use for it so it’s unfortunate I was mislead and charged a bunch of money. The app could very well be helpful if the language you need is included, but for me it was not and it was a costly mistake.

Wonderful! Can’t install on watch though.... This is an amazing app! It works beautifully, it functions very well, and if it messes up just try again! (Ignore all ratings that say it doesn’t work, they probably just don’t speak with consonants) The one problem I seem to be having is that my phone installs it, but my watch just doesn’t care! Even the watch app only shows the one other app I have installed (MiniWiki). Please note that my phone is a crappy iPhone 6+ and my watch is so old that it also has the old Siri. (Also, my watch has watchOS 7)

How to access the free BASIC version. Despite all the reviews, the developer is telling the truth that you can ‘X’ out of the upgrade offer. However, the X is almost impossible to see (top right corner) unless you scroll up slightly so it’s not hidden against the white background. It comes off as a bit shady, but the option is there. My only criticism of the actual app is in how poor the voice recognition can be. I’m a public speaker for a living and have very enunciated speech, but this thing had trouble understanding (US English). Seems to do better via the Apple Watch than the phone itself.

Auto Enroll!!! DO NOT DOWNLOAD. This is terrible and I would like a refund I deleted the app shortly after downloading it. Freaking bought a ringtone put my payment info in. Then ring Ding dong freaking this app charges me for a subscription that I never agreed to. Ohhhh it’s in your terms and conditions for the free trail blah blah blah that’s dirty bros you know what y’all are doing is wrong and it needs to stop. What comes around goes around. I will change this review the moment this company does the right thing. Which will be never. And spare me the we are sorry to hear that you’re unhappy but if you have an issue tuff luck and good luck getting your money back from apple cause we ain’t gonna pay you.

Awesome. I love the find the Language feature when your not sure of the language. Very easy to use, and on more than one occasion the person i needed to use it for downloaded it right then and there at my job. I use it at work cause I work the floor in retail and its a godsend. No more paging somebody that speaks Spanish. I use this everyday and when I go to Europe next year it will be up and ready.

How can this app be the developers choice?. * After leaving a negative review, I received an email from the developer asking for specific examples and screengrabs which I provided. Instead of accepting that the app can be improved, I received a condescending email asking me to update my iOS and modify my cadence. Too bad I can’t change my 1 star to a negative star. Original review below: I had expectations about this app but it didn’t deliver at all when translating from English to Chinese. The app is painfully slow and, worse, inaccurate. I wish I could upload screengrabs of seriously botched translations. Don’t waste your time or money on this app.

Canceled as soon as I got back from China. It looks like a well made app. I found it worthless in mainland China. It didn’t work for me at the hotel, restaurants or asking directions. It wouldn’t translate correctly. It kept saying unable to understand. At first I thought it was my phone connection and so I tried using it at the hotel lobby in Shanghai, China. Using the WiFi and it didn’t work at all. Money in the trash, I just deleted it and don’t forget to cancel the auto-subscribe. I read great reviews which led me to purchase the service. Now I think they may have been fake reviews. Look elsewhere. My own experience. Tried contacting the company to get a refund. I haven’t gotten response yet. I just got charged for a second month. And just canceled.

Shady, Tricks You Into Paying!. DO NOT GET THIS SHADY APP! It tricks you into purchasing a subscription. It has a huge CONTINUE button when you first download the app, and seemingly no other option. What they don’t tell you is that “CONTINUE” button actually subscribes you for their “PRO upgrade” which charges you money while you think it’s free. And the app developers keep commenting on these reviews meant to warn people before being tricked into their money, saying that there is a free option and they are not tricking people. These are blatant lies. If you don’t want to pay, you have to click a tiny “x” button in the top right corner instead of a huge “CONTINUE” button in the center of the screen. Do not listen to these developers, they are trying to scam you and the translator itself isn’t even that great. Get a better app that’s actually free to use with no shady, scummy tricks.

So fun!. I’m a manager for a cleaning company so I speak with a lot of people on a daily basis. This app has helped me with my team so many times!! My employees feel so appreciated simply because I made the effort to communicate with them. The only complaint I have so far is there are two languages I’m in need of for my job. Is there a way to submit language requests? Are more languages available in the future? I really hope so! I had so much fun with my French and Spanish speakers at work the other day. I will definitely be using this app daily!

Seems to Work Mostly, However…. This app, like many other translation apps does seem to work when individuals on each end have clear pronunciation. The voice to text is a great feature. Cutting out background noses will help. Simplify what is being communicated is helpful as well. The issues come with the spam like upgrade screens that pop up. Not to mention that the monthly or yearly subscription is always out of the question. If they charged $200 one time for a full upgrade I would pay that, however never would the subscription be an option. In all this is a good app that will hopefully continue to improve and add an option for a one time purchase of the full features.

The Translator. I considered buying one of those hand-held Translators. The range from about 80 bucks to several hundred dollars. This app does just what I was looking for and the fee, monthly $5 or annually $50 is worth it. AND, unlike the hand-held translators, I always have my phone handy. No need to carry a separate device. In addition, this ap prints out the question in English first and then in Spanish or whatever language you choose. Even Chinese & Japanese characters. And, it saves the translated statements which you can recall for repeat or reference. Outstanding.

Wonderful app!. I was a gestational carrier (surrogate) for a wonderful French speaking couple. I am American and spoke very little French upon our meeting. This app was so useful to help me text back and forth with my intended parents. When the pandemic hit and lockdown began, one of the parents came early and spent two months waiting for the arrival of their child. During this time, we used this app daily while in conversation with each other. It was a lifesaver.

GREAT APP BUT FAILS MISERABLY WITH MANDARIN. I wanted to give this app not 5 but 10 stars, but it fails in the English Chinese Department. When speaking Chinese the English translation is FREQUENTLY NOT accurate and keeps giving different translations in English that are not relevant. VERY VERY much off in the Chinese to English area, the Chinese translation is not even remotely close to the English. Speak perfect Mandarin ten times and all ten times it gets it wrong! To the developer, you sent me an email asking me to send you samples of how your app doesn’t work but it’s not possible to send a sample of a voice recording since your app doesn’t let you record. You developed the app right? So this is something you should already know. The best thing I can suggest is that you find someone who speaks both Chinese and English and ask them to speak Chinese into the app and you will see that the English translation is wrong 99% of the time. From English to Chinese this doesn’t seem to be much of a problem. It’s mostly from Chinese to English.

It IS free. It’s embarrassing how many people are leaving negative reviews because they can’t figure out how to close the subscription offer screen that pops up and just use the standard free version. THE STANDARD VERSION OF THE APP IS FREE PEOPLE. And it works awesome! I also read someone was having issues with it not recognizing any female voices but it worked just fine for me. As far as English to Japanese goes, its working great and I can’t wait to use it when I go to Japan to visit my grandmother! Thanks team, you’re doing a great job!

Great app!. I work in the physical therapy field and when there is a patient with a language barrier, this app has come in very handy to help me communicate and properly help the patient work towards their goals of getting healthier. The app on my iWatch can be a little slow and sometimes does not register what I am saying the first time so I may have to try 2/3 times. I would have to say the delay is the only issue I would have, but it’s nothing I would normally complain about. I have recommended this app to friends and family already. Thank you for building a bridge for people with language barriers, especially those in the medical field to properly help someone when it is very needed!

Great phone app, good Apple Watch app. Thanks for responding to my email and fixing the Apple Watch app since it wasn’t translating. I’m happy to report it is now. I think the phone version is excellent. I am very happy there is a Watch app however, as I am not always able to pull out my phone and the watch helps. I do wish that in addition to the automatic translation; that you could translate by tapping on your spoken words like on the phone. This is mostly because the automatic translation lags a bit sometimes. But overall I am happy, and this seems to be the best real time translation app so far, and wish to see you continue supporting both apps.

Making my English language learners more aware of everything that goes on in my class. This app has been absolutely revolutionary in my teaching I don’t speak Espanol at all but I have several English language learners in my class these are students that are just learning to speak English this app allows me to hold a button talk to my English-speaking students and then press a button and play what I said to my Spanish speaking students it’s absolutely wonderful and it works great I also use it to make phone calls home and the families and households were Spanish is the primary language it allows me to communicate with parents is fabulous I dictated all this so there’s no punctuation please don’t think I’m a knucklehead God bless and God bless this app

This app is amazing. Not perfect, but deserves 5 stars.. Ok it isn’t 100% perfect, I speak Thai and Chinese so I tested my knowledge with it and I realized that little inconsistencies that can’t be fixed exist. For example in Thai there are words that change based on if a man or a woman is speaking. The app doesn’t know your gender so you speak as if you are a woman, but for what this app attempts to do it does very well. You can easily use this app to travel around and get information across at crucial times with ease. 5 stars well deserved.

Incredible.. I work in a hospital and we have a lot of diversity here. A lot of patients come in and we can’t understand them and we don’t always have translators here at night, so we’re usually just on our own until dayshift comes in. I found this app and tried to use it to speak with a woman last night who knew very little English-and voila, it worked! I was able to effectively and accurately speak with her throughout the entire shift.

One of the best translating apps out there. At first I doubting that it will work but in the end I was so impressed. (I even amazed my friends and family with this) You can just say full sentences and it translates back quickly and compared to other apps, this is one translates closest to the meaning. I don’t know how accurate it is for other languages but I tried English to Malay (and English to French) and my family says that the grammar and vocabulary were correct. I did single words to sentences and it used the same words as I would’ve said. It was also fun to try out different languages and learning. For example, I did languages I didn’t know like Korean and tried to copy what it said. I felt so satisfied when it recognized what I said. I thought that I was accidentally subscribed because I couldn’t believe how much the free version offers 😱 One thing I would suggest is a history log so you can go back to the old conversation. Overall this is a great app that I would reccomend

“X” to skip PRO version is in upper right. I’m giving the app two stars because in my limited use so far the app sometimes cannot determine which language is being spoken and seems to defaults to assuming that one speaker talks and then the other… Where is sometimes of course the same person will make several statements that need to be translated. Also, on my iPhone 12 mini the “X” you need to click on to skip the PRO version and try the free one is a tiny white X on a white background in the upper right hand corner so it was very hard to see -Given all the complaints in prior reviews about people accidentally signing up for the annual plan, the developers should make it easier to skip the “free” trial (which if you forget to cancel you get charged a lot of money for).

Really Buggy!. This app gets pretty high reviews. Surprising. My experience has been mixed, but mainly negative. The Apple Watch app works pretty well and has done some nice simple translations from English to French. But it only works about half the time. The iPhone version is worse and works about 10% of the time. And the support team doesn’t seem to have much interest in addressing the issues. Clearly I have canceled the monthly sub and will likely delete from my devices. Google is actually better and multi platform. Hope that your experience is better.

Shady practice and off translator. First, there are definite issues with the voice recognition and the translations you will get. Very cool concept but very iffy results. That aside...yes the base version is free but you wouldn’t know that when you go into the app. The “Pro page” is clearly designed to make you think you HAVE to pay. This isn’t the only app with a very similar page trying to get you to pay. If the developer doesn’t want to appear being shady, then they need to work on that page to make it very clear you don’t actually have to pay. As it stands, it’s really hard to not think they are counting on people being tricked into paying for a subscription (which is actually a joke regardless...no reason pro couldn’t be a single payment). Shoddy and greedy. Sad combo.

Good for a one way translator. I am a Russian speaker but probably not so good at speaking Russian. I speak fluently but at the level of a 5th grader and probably with an accent. The reason I give this a 2 star is as followed: 1. Good at translating from English to Russian. Not perfect but understandable. The reverse cannot he said about the translation from Russian to English. In fact sometimes I hold, as communicated, and speak Russian, and it sometimes thinks I spoke English and translates my Russian into Russian again. Now it could be my accent is too different or my vocabulary isn't too complex, but assuming I am in a country where I am not a native speaker, I don’t have faith I will get the proper translation.

I love this app!. Love love love this app. 😍 I’ve been using Google Translate for the longest time. I wish I knew Spanish (& a few other languages🙄), but I don’t. & it’s really awkward for me every time🤬😅. Converse takes translation to a whole other level! Instead of having that stressful pause & awkward silence while I quickly try to type what I want someone else to understand (or vise versa)🤝 I literally can say what I want & the iTranslate voice responds quickly!! No more worrying about how embarrassing my pronunciation is, this app is fluent in 38 different languages!! When I’m bored, I’m literally gonna sit on my couch & talk to this thing all day, just to learn a new language. 🧐😁

So simple, have fun conversing. One button operation speak in either language and it translates in the other. English to Spanish, Spanish to English, or whatever languages you set up in the app. Be sure to pronounce the words as properly as you can. It listens to your word pronunciation and spells out the words that may not be what you intended. But...it figures it out like autocorrect and guess the phrase closely matching that and often...bien hecho! If you don’t know what that means, then get the app and translate it!

Like it the more I use it. The difficulty of getting past the opening (intro-up grade screen) has passed, and I really like the speed of the program translation compared to Google Translate. One taps open the program and you speak right away and you receive a loud clear translation quickly. I think I will have to buy the upgrade for off line use. With Google Translate I cannot use it fast enough for real world use. Converse is amazingly useable. Someone like Apple or Microsoft will buy this program and makethese guys very rich.

Better use Google Translate. This is the equivalent of a tourist trap. It is not accurate, nor free. The app is misleading, because it is advertised as free. The setup process is designed in such a way that they lead you to check the pricing plans. However, to do so you have to tap on a large orange “Continue” button. This leads you to think that you are just checking the pricing plans. However, just tapping on the button subscribes you to the monthly plan. The button is intentionally labeled “Continue”, instead of “Subscribe”. The developer has lots of similar comments, because several users have been mislead into a subscription they never wanted or asked for. These practices make the app store a bad place and should be stopped. Bad app, bad translations, misleading language, this is a plain tourist trap. You are much better off with Google Translate. Keep off from this useless tourist trap !

A lot of work, but bad results.... I bought this app before my trip to Morocco. I had high hope, this could be helpful, but I was wrong! First, they took subscription for whole year, not month for month...etc. Their intentions were missleading. Anyway, when I tried app at Washington airport, it worked, but if you must repat sentence, you cannot do it in app itself, you have to repeat it literaly... But the worst thing about this app I hated the most: You cannot use it if you don't have lnternet conevtion...They should make available to dawnload certain module for language you looking for to be able to use without internet certain amount of time like other app do. Also app is very slow on any LTE network or so... What can I say: This app betrayed me when I needed it the most! If I could give - 5 stars, I would do it!

Love the app, extremely useful. I contacted the developers through emails, with an issue i was having with the app while using it on my apple watch. I suggested a potential fix. They were very polite, and took it into consideration. During the very next update they addressed the issue and added the feature i had mentioned would be a great addition. -i work in different countries teaching Acrobatics to people of different cultures so its wonderful to have a conversation tool to use while teaching in a random country. THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Just a Horrible app - technically and commercially. I’ve tried this app a few times thinking newer versions would improve… it simply did not and still DOES NOT WORK! The voice recognition gets almost every attempt incorrect, it even thinks I’m speaking the wrong language many times! If the voice recognition works, by chance, the translation is typically wrong! Then the developers beat their chest, saying it’s “FREE”, but the limits on the number of translations are ridiculous and why in the world would anyone pay for a (non) “Pro-version” subscription, when it doesn’t actually work?!? AND NO, I DON”T WANT TO SEND THE DEVELOPER EXAMPLES OF APP MISTAKES TO HELP THEM! Helping them has been futile and the app isn’t worth my time or yours!

Embarrassing for what they charge. The English-Arabic translations are a joke. Also, the pronunciations are retarded - just try asking “How old are you?” And you’ll see what I mean. Instant delete and 1-star for wasting time (Apple highlighted this app on their front-page, I’m just doing my bit for people who might use this one day for something serious only to be embarrassed)

iTranslate. Awesome. Understood my accent n good translation.

Potential ruined by speed and accuracy. The speed of the entire translation process is too slow to be practical and the actual translation given is inaccurate. Multiple times I have encountered an issue whereas the app fails to recognise the language I bring spoken despite speaking very clearly and enunciating.

Just amazing app. Very fast translations

How do I unsubscribe. I thought I was opening the app instead it made me subscribe! Now I want to unsubscribe thanks

Not accurate enough. Translation from Japanese to English is not very reliable. The voice recognition accurately transcribes the spoken Japanese word into Japanese script, including kanji, however the translation into English is not very reliable. I have only played around with it for a short time it appears no more accurate than google translate, therefore I cannot justify the cost of the full app. I may have a look at this app in the future. However I guess by the time this app has improved google translate will have also improved でもありがとうございます。がんばてください。

I don’t see the point. Google translate is add free and doesn't cost a cent. I don't see why you would use this app as it is no more accurate than Google translate.

Doesn’t auto detect and swap languages. Basically an old style of translation app as it doesn’t auto detect and swap languages. My fiancé is Thai and for us to translate we have to keep opening the language settings and swap from Thai to English for her the change to English to Thai for me to talk. Very annoying as every other app auto detects and translates. Could have been a good app otherwise.

Brilliant and Simple Interface. Works as advertised. Just great.

Great. English to Korean was not 100% natural, however it was accurate and you would be understood. Nice!

Wow. Just wow. It’s really accurate and I love it.

Needs work. Tested with English & Japanese: - pronunciation in Japanese was poor - translation of common Japanese words (or a simple common phrase of 2/3 words) is inconsistent General app issues/comments: - often the app was non-responsive when trying to hold & tap to translate a new word/phrase. Could slide screen up/down to access Settings but tap & hold not recognised. Occasionally had to restart the app to get it working - the original phrase you say displays very briefly then disappears from the screen after the translation so you are not sure if it properly interpreted what you said. Sometimes it displays the incorrect words at first in the source language but then it correctly translates & displays in the target language but you don't know if it is translating the correct phrase or not.

Game changer. I decided to try Converse as a language learning tool. There are so many times I think of how I could say something in another language but I either don’t know, can’t remember or can’t ask. This solves all that for me and I’m trialing right now but in so many languages I will be able to say ‘Subscribe’!

Bad. Not support others language 👎👎👎

Quicker to translate. Happy with it

Not useful because it doesn't have Thai language. Limited in language

Can’t get it to work. TAp and hold keeps bringing up a list f languages to choose from. I gave up trying.

Works a treat!. Love this app. Translation is better than most similar apps.

Unable to translate from English to Thai. Great app, if it works well. I speak a few languages (basic) but required translation from English to Thai. Other languages seem reasonable but every time I try to translate English to Thai, it just translate English to English. Please fix this and I will try again in the next version n grade it accordingly. Thanks.

How did it make on the recommended list?. This app is reminiscent of the translations during the best times of Babelfish. Anything more complex than a three word sentence is too difficult to translate. MVP gone wrong.

Good. Great app, but would be better if it didn’t ask you to pay monthly for the full version each time you open it. Ignore that, just use the free version, works well.

It’s ok. It’s ok but when I downloaded it for my Apple Watch it didn’t appear on there

Rubbish! Useless App. The most useless App !

How do you switch languages. Unfortunately this is not clear and having to use google translate as well

Lost me. Sorry, Apple keeps constantly flogging the developers face in the App Store - I wasn’t interested in what the photo was advertising the first, fifth and the 130th time, so kept ignoring it - the face re-appeared again today, so I decided to look more into this thing to see what it was all about. So, I go ahead and download the app. Once installed I am asked to start a 7 day trial then get auto charged $99 per annum to keep using this thing - PAALEEEASE. Utter waste of my time - sorry Dev, I never got to actually use your product cos I was too annoyed. All the best.

Big help. The app is really easy to use doesn’t force an upgrade free is easy and you don’t have to switch between languages to talk to each other great app

Bear057. Hi guys I am a language studies teacher specialising in Indonesian language and French language in secondary schools New South Wales and I write to commend you on this wonderful app it truly is fantastic thanks again for great product

Voice recognition is pretty bad. It’s a great app, easy to use. Excellent project that requires a lot of work at this stage. Voice recognition is shocking. It gets it right every now and again but it gets it completely wrong for the rest of attempts. Not even close to follow. I’m bilingual so I’m able to test it both ways. I want this app and happy to pay for it but it’s not at the useful stage yet. Good luck!

Love it!. My wife even understands me when I speak drunk English 😎

Con verse. Too easy to subscribe to an expensive plan. Not so easy to unsubscribe.

Good stuff. This is fantastic if you translate from Australian English to British English and say something that Stephen Hawking would say! Great fun. But seriously it’s good for English-German too.

Awesome. Very easy to operate . Love it

Trying to unsubscribe. There’s no option to unsubscribe and when you download it says it’s free but it’s not, it’s $6 bucks a month?? How do you cancel it?

Didn’t work. I’ve always wanted a good translator, unfortunately I’m disappointed today. It’s not accurate for English and mandarin, which google assistant and Siri can figure out my speaking quiet easily.

Can’t Identify the Language Correctly / Unstable Internet Connection. I tried to use this app for Chinese-English, Japanese-English, French-English, and German English. Apparently, the app cannot correctly identify which language the speaker is using and treat Japanese/French/German/Chinese speaking as English which is very unhelpful. The app needs a lot more work to compete with Google Translate, which is more accurate in terms of conversation and source language identification.

Cool. The app is great and is easy to use

Waste time waste money. Be careful need to cancel subscription before 1 month free period ends! For the translate, it can only translate simple words, it won’t translate sentence correctly. The free translator on web even do better.

Terrible. One of the worst apps I’ve ever made the mistake of downloading.

Highly recommended.. Really helpful app. It helps me improve my Korean a lot.

Great idea but.... This would be fantastic if it worked, but although it captured and transcribed most of what was said correctly (if you pointed the phone to your mouth), the translation from anything other than English was just a messy word-for-word direct translation with no idea of context or sentence structure. I tried Cantonese to English, Korean to English, English to Cantonese. The last one was passable (for the few simple sentences I tried), but it’s no use getting others to understand you when you can’t understand them in return. I would be fine trying to use this app (and, I guess, train it in the process) if this was a free app while the dev team gets this app polished up, but to be asking for a monthly subscription for something that doesn’t work? I’m afraid not.

Love it. Wish it was free!!!!

I like the idea of the app but. Your translation from mandarin Taiwan into English is pretty terrible but it gives me and my wife a good laugh English to Taiwan is pretty good people can’t really use this app for Conversation Maybe simple one word answers

Unreliable Translator and Poor Support. Too much money has been spent on a classy user interface and not enough on the translation engine. It is very erratic and unreliable. You can repeat the same question 4 times in English and it will translate 3 quite well into Mandarin and the 4th time it will speak complete rubbish in English as it has somehow assumed I was speaking Chinese (which I can’t). I have fought with it for over 2 months to try and get it to work reliably without success. I am native English speaking and my wife is native Chinese. I have tried it on a selection of both our friends and it is just too unreliable. I don’t mean just slightly off or missing a word, it sometimes just comes back with complete senseless rubbish. It’s funny when your with friends but not so funny when you are in a serious business meeting. I have contacted support to help trouble shoot the issues together but they had no interest to work through it. They just said that it couldn’t understand my speech. It also can’t understand my wife and several of our friends. I then asked about a refund and I was instructed to talk to Apple. But seems Apple won’t provide refunds for subscriptions. So looks like I have been well and truely stitched up. Siri does a much better job at translating and does it for free.

Translator from hell. My mum and I tried this app out as she speaks Japanese and i am currently learning korean, when we tried to speak into the app I rarely picked up that we were saying anything and when it did 90% of the time it got whatever we were trying to say terribly wrong, after I deleted the because it wasn’t working I was still charged after the free trial despite not having used the app for more than a day.

Useless.. This app gets every sentence wrong. It doesn’t even come close. Half the time it even “translates” back into the same language. Very funny, but only for a while. Useless. Delete.

Very impressive. Very impressive app works pretty much as described

Poor design, unusable. I regularly use dictation tools on my phone with ease, however this app failed to reliably capture my voice, even when I tried to talk very slowly and deliberately - which kind of defeats the purpose anyway. It also consistently confused which language I was talking. At present, this app is useless. Not recommended at all. EDIT after dev response: No, I don’t work for you, I already described my issues, so why would I do further product testing for you for free? Try paying professionals if you want a good app.

This is awesome!. My Spanish is only in its infant stage. Converse has helped me to chat with people here in Latin America making life oh so much easier. Constantly improving, and very accurate, I don’t mind spending the money if this continues. Well done to your team, and thank you!

Hardly works. Doesn’t recognise your speech, translates to something completely wrong and takes a long time to load. It is a very scruffy app that needs more cleaning up with software, intelligence and bugs.

A great concept, but currently doesn’t work. My wife and I speak four languages between us, doesn’t matter if we test in English, Polish, Spanish or French it struggles to translate at all well, often confusing the language we are speaking for the language we want it translated to. Reversing the languages is impractical for a conversation, but even by doing so the result is no better, often just trying to give us a gibberish response. I speak to my iphone (currently iPhonex) regularly in English, French and Polish, only rarely do I have to correct my phone’s text interpretation of what I am saying, I am sure this is also correct for my wife who speaks to her iPhone in Polish, English and Spanish. I am not sure why I suddenly have to alter my cadence and pronunciation to use this app so much. How would that even work in the real world explaining to someone of no common language that they are speaking their own language wrong and that my phone does not understand? It’s just too hard to use at the moment. Would cheerfully buy and pay for if it actually worked, but at the moment we can only score this one as a fail. Sorry.

Excellent. Realmente increíble

Ok wonderful. Okkkkk wonderful

Me nice guy Korre. Hi

Michele. This is fantastic. I’m definitely using it when traveling.😁

Does NOT work on Apple Watch!. It listens, then says “translating” for a minute or two, and the. Says “something went wrong, please try again”. Do NOT bother with this app is you want it to work on your Apple Watch.

Good. This is an intelligent app. From technical perspective, it can translate accurately, can well recognize the language input by voice recording, and in a fast pace to transform into a new language. Lots of language learner can benefit from this app, since it like an interactive robot to speak in new language.

Bonne application !. Cher par mois c’est sûr mais un outil indispensable pour un voyage à l’étranger ! Je l’ai testé et c’est génial !

Paradise Barry. Excellent program

Great app. iTranslate is a great app, I use it all the time in my Spanish class and it’s much more accurate than google translate.

Unclear Reality. It doesn’t say when loading the app that there is in app purchases and you have a trial period after which need to subscribe and pay. It should mention that at the home page before we are fooled into downloading it

Don’t Download it!. Don’t trust to this app as they’re using your device immediately for the premium version which is not free!!!

Goldwingbishy. This is very good for the family.

The last picture is wrong (AppStore). It makes no sense to say "我说中国” since that literally means "I speak China". Assuming that you wanted to say "I speak Chinese", I recommend that you change it to "我说中文”, which is how you say it.

Apple Watch Series 3. Tried using this app on my Apple Watch doesn’t seem to work

Heureux d'avoir Translate. Je suis très heureux d'avoir Translate

Fun translation tool. I get too many weird spam voice mails, most are in English, some are not. Played some of the foreign stuff to converse and was pleased with the results. Even when it went off the rails it cracked me up.

Never buy because. I hate subscriptions Please offer a LIFETIME price

Wonderful. Great tool when travelling

Finicky. Very finicky. Need to speak very precisely for it to know what you said. When I speak French it often translates to French instead of English.

Poorly Advertised. I did not want a free subscription, and I do not give you permission to remove funds from my account after this “free trial”. I am unable to stop this process everywhere I’ve checked, and as per instructions you mentioned. Please correct this ASAP.

Very useful. I can now talk to my mother-in-law!

Tagalog please!!. Great app, but i could really use tagalog for an upcoming trip to the philipines. Any chance of including it in an future update?

Very interesting. Lots of potential but still has some ways to go. Localization is hit or miss but overall works ok

Info viet nam. thank you !!

Faithful user. I would give five stars any other day until you asked me today and took me from being in the middle of work with it and just shut my app down and none of that is saved. So screw your guys actually, but you have a great app.

Converse. Thanks now I can swear in different languages 😂

WASTE OF MONEY.. I attempted to start a 7 day trial and the app automatically charged me for an entire year. The app was previously on my phone so I logged in to try to use it while in Vietnam. This app des NOT work in Vietnam at all so I had absolutely no use for it. I did not use the app for a single translation. Less than 24 hours after trying to start a 7 DAY TRIAL, the app decided to automatically renew for the full year. I had not even returned to an area in the county where I had service. If I had known the developers would completely circumvent the trial just to steal my money I would never have downloaded this app. BUYER BEWARE.

Good app, needs improvement. Great for very basic communication but not recommend for intense peace negotiations, nuclear disarmament agreement or hostage negotiations. However I’m sure it will be a great app in a few iterations from now. Needs support for Vietnamese.

Not intuitive at all. I was trying to test it, and had to go back in the settings, but then could not find back the area to make a live translation! I could imagine that there are very powerful algorithms behind this app, but the design is ridiculous. -Update: and yes, indeed, I swiped the screen in all directions possible and still could not get back to the translator.

Complete garbage!. Most of the time the iPhone app just repeats back what you just said in the same language. To add insult to injury the Apple Watch version is so quiet you can’t even hear it. How do people get away with selling such garbage on the App Store?

S20002001. Cool

Apple Watch app. Hi, the description of the app says that it is fully compatible with WatchOS 5 and we can see watch screenshots. Is it only available on the « Pro » version? The app isn’t available in the list of apps to install on the Apple Watch app.

Needs work.... I downloaded this and tried a couple simple French/English phrases (I am bilingual). This app did not even come close to working for me.

Another pay to translate crap. This is stupid. Why pay for this app monthly when Google Translate app exists, is free and works better.

Incredible app. Very intuitive and so easy to use. A must have when traveling :-)

Poor translation. Sentences do not translate properly

Nicely done. Great app

English to Thai Thai to English. Useless for Thai. So far no app comes close to getting it half right. Not enough of a proper database. Google translate is also poor and I suspect this app is using Google.

Well, that was a waste of $89.59!. I downloaded this when I had some Japanese visitors and used it for about five minutes. And then it was so difficult to try and get out of before the week trial was up. I intended to go back when I had time, but then the next thing I knew I had been billed. For $17.92 a minute,I should’ve found someone who was more technically savvy than me to get me out of this program.I won’t be renewing. Oh I guess I will be unless I can find somebody to help get me out!I hate feeling scammed.

I can not find other languages. It's supposed to have all languages but i just see a few languages..... What Tagalog language is not on this app. It's language and translation app it's supposed to have all languages...... Im not gonna pay money for a app that doesn't come in all languages..... What if i travel to other places and you have only a few languages to translate...... How can i understand other cultures....

Wish Afghanistan language was for free. Free language

The deception is BS. Downloaded it only to find out there is a fee after the trial period. Tired of not being told upfront. How about if I get to try it and then subscribe if I like it? Didn’t register it, didn’t use it and deleted it right away. Not interested in being deceived.

Súper !!. It’s perfect!

It’s don’t have Parsi(Persian). Very bad

Translator works on the watch. This is a very good translator that actually works on my Apple Watch. This one has a cost to it which makes it a good app and not cheap and useless like the free ones

Very helpful. I think this is an amazing translation tool! Easy to use!

Worst translation app. This has got to be THE WORST translation app or software that I have ever come across. I like to test these out and see if they can be useful for friends/family that don’t speak more than 1 language. The Japanese translation is HORRIBLE! The speech is incredibly rude at many points. It doesn’t even use standard Japanese. Honestly, we got a kick out of how BAD it was. So bad to the point that it was funny. 1 star because it actually worked on 1/10 sentences. ETA: Seeing the creator comment (on another review) that native speakers were involved makes me very suspicious.

Very useful. I’m living in canada But i’m not good at english so i use this almost everyday. Its very comfotable. Im just telling korean something its a show me the english lines. Very good!

Amazing. Great for translating

Sneaky Way to Get You to Buy Subscription. I downloaded this app because it was recommended in Consumer Reports magazine. However I couldn’t even try out the free version because it wouldn’t let me. I would have had to try out the free trial version of Pro whether I wanted to or not. I feel this is very dishonest way of doing business. I immediately deleted the app and will continue using Google Translate.

Such an easy way to converse. This is so helpful in my line of work. I can count on this to repeat exactly what I say and now not worry about having to depend on someone else to assist with conversation and possibly misconstrue what I’m trying to relay to the family. Thanks

No African Languages. I would possibly vote this app higher but there aren’t any languages of Bantu origin (ie: No African Languages) Languages from every continent except Central, West South or East Africa...why. You even break Spanish down into 3 different dialects. It would be nice if you included Yoruba (Nigeria). Yoruba would be the easiest since it is now being taught at many universities. Black & African people communicate too!! I can’t agree with #1 Editor’s Choice award until you can learn 2 be more inclusive with your app! Watch...this review PROBABLY won’t be reviewed much less printed.

iTranslate Converse. Avoid this app. Many other apps to choose from that 1) wasn’t based off the Japanese language and 2) are easier to use and do a much better job. When using this app, it won’t keep up with someone who speaks a different language fluently. It just can’t keep up. And even if you’re using this app to translate a couple words or sentence, if you even slightly mis-pronounce something, you will get a different translation every time. Also doesn’t take into consideration the use of slang, or shortcuts. I am trying to learn Spanish and have several friends who speak Spanish as their first language... they just laugh at 90% of the translations this app retorts with. Example: “donde esta el baño” translates to “where is the bathroom”, but 8 times out of 10 it translates “what is the kid” or “where is the kid”. Veeeery touchy. The original language has to be precise.

Not Very Good. The biggest issue I had with this app is that it is bad a listening. Often you have to repeat yourself four Orr five times before it registers that you were speaking at all. When it does recognize that you are speaking it often hears something different than what you are saying… I found often the translations it did manage to spit out were not always accurate. Google translate is free and works a million times better than this app.

Really good app. I am currently learning Japanese and I use this app to make sure that my pronunciation is good, and the app knows what I am saying most of the time. I wouldn’t rely 100% on this app if you plan to go to another country and use it as communication, but it is a good resource if you are learning another language

I like it so far. So far, so good. Not sure what the limit is for translations on the free version, but I’m sure I’ll find out soon. People who wrote bad reviews must not pay attention. No app can force you to subscribe, it’s optional. If you sign up, that’s your own fault. If you pay attention, you will notice the x at the top right that allows you to close the pop up and proceed with the app without doing the free trial of pro.

Not that great. On the apple watch, it doesn’t work at all! Should implement the tap and hold feature like in the iPhone and it might start working. On the iPhone the app is alright. I get instant translations, but they are not that accurate when it comes to other languages such as Arabic and German. English to Spanish is decent. The developer should also stop commenting ignorant responses to the reviewers, if you get a bad rating just listen to your users and fix the issues instead of blaming it on them. Finally, get rid of that popup screen asking for a premium subscription. I didn’t fall for it, but I can see why other people are complaining about it. I’m giving it a one star for the following: -Doesn’t work on the Apple Watch, and on my iPhone I can just use Google Translate. -Inaccurate translations. -Developer’s responses to other users. -Unethical business tactics.

Nowhere to select “Basic/Free” version. …Not fixed OR purposely deceptive??? A prior review complained about this & developer reply noted it fixed. Well, unless I’m blind, the only choices were a $69/mo PRO subscription or 7-day Free Trial (and the subscription charges would automatically kick in >7days). Is there a basic, free version??? Immediately, not reassured so I cancelled the free subscription. Surely don’t want to be charged $69 under any circumstance. Another comment: With highly accurate free translator apps like Google Translate, how on earth is this app worth $69+?

Not working. I downloaded iTranslate twice. Program keeps switching to the add when I push buttons, but won’t let me do the trial. So I downloaded converse and set the languages to English and Spanish. When I say a line in English, it shows it perfectly in text on the screen. Initially, about 50% of the time it translated it in Spanish. The rest of the time it translated it in random English words that made no sense. Eventually, all translations were random English words and the program stopped working saying it couldn’t access a secure server.

Only works in Spanish. Some people in my family speak Hindi, but I do not understand Hindi, so I downladed this app to try and help me. Only this app keeps thinking I want to to translate from Hindi to Spanish, or English to Spanish, or Spanish to English. This is for the watch app. On the iPhone app it is not understanding what I say. Like if I say “my name is ...” in Hindi then it will think I said “I am a fork.” The other problem is your app keeps nagging me to upgrade to the paid version. Also, this app will not let you choose what your default languages are. It would be helpful if you could fix these problems soon.

Suggestion. While I think this app as a great idea. I want to suggest you find a way to add some Native American languages too. I’m sure this would not happen over night but it being in process would be awesome. As someone who cherishes the culture and is anxious to learn and converse in the first language of this land, this addition would be great. I think this needs to be added to even our options for learning apps as well.

Horrible App. I can’t even believe people want to give this app a try. It is so bad that after your first translation it kept repeating the same thing when I tried to translate from Arabic to English and vice versa. Uninstalled immediately, the developer actually have the audacity to ask for purchasing a full version. Why don’t you actually fix his app before you put it up for sale. Terrible and won’t recommend it at, don’t even waste your precious time to even consider downloading it. If I could even it negative stars I would.

Random. So far it won’t do anything, I did the free trial and it would not translate thru my phone. I cancelled my free trial and was still charged for a Yearly subscription I did not want. The (Report a problem) option does not load the site for reporting and the developer website pops up with (Website not found). I just want my money back and I’ve sent an email to the help desk but I’ve had no response yet.

No reliable on phone. I can’t use it on my phone to have a conversation as it only translates one way. I use this at work to help Spanish speaking customers. It works better (translates both ways) on my apple watch but it would be better if I could use my phone. Not being able to use it reliably on both watch and phone doesn’t justify the subscription fee

Not what i was hoping for. I am looking for a translator app, i cam across this one and read the reviews. The reviews state that the app is free, unless you want to upgrade to pro. And that the app works fairly well. I downloaded it and opened it to try it out. My only options were to sign up for a yearly subscription for a fee, or a 7 day free trial after which you will be charged monthly. I dont mind a one time fee. But with so many free options im not paying monthly for this.

Charged my Bank account without my permission!!!!!. This is a fraud!!!!!!! I had a friend recommending it and we both got charged without any notice! It was all free and easy to sign in-now I see that they have charged 10$ on my bank account-and making me have this Translate Pro- without even asking me-I could not even find their costumer service to ask them what’s going on! This is called stealing! Don’t bother sending your automatic response ! I will make sure Apple store knows you have a fraud app! Hope they have a penalty on it !

Works great but..... This app is great and all but sometimes it didn’t work The reason I got this app was because my brother a fluent Spanish speaker wasn’t so good in English so I this app to talk to him but sometimes it just came with different words than what we had said from both sides. Overall this is great app but if got fixed I would give it 5stars for sure

Did not work at all. I tried to do a simple translation of the phrase “would you like some bread,” and it took several attempts of me speaking unreasonably slowly, clearly, and loudly. Once it gave me a nonsensical answer, and another time it did not translate but rather answered my question by saying yes! Other times it would mistake an English word for a Chinese word. This is not an issue with my diction or my microphone, because I have found another translation app that works on the first try.

HORRIBLE MANDARIN TRANSLATION. I don’t know about the other languages, but this I know FOR SURE. The app CANNOT translate from Mandarin to English, try as you may. The translations are so waaaaaay off as to make for great comedy at a coffee table. Sometimes it’s spot on, but so rarely, EVER SO RARELY. Each time a Mandarin sentence was said the app gave a completely different English translation for the same exact sentence. It was very very frustrating. I guess the App Store gives out ‘Editor’s Choice’ awards like candy to kids, even undeserving ones. I wanted this app to work but the Mandarin to English section needs to be fixed

Great for work. I work with 6-8 Hispanic females the teach me Spanish, some are good with English some not, when I need to say thing I haven’t learned yet I just use the app on my watch as we can’t have phone in building, it really makes them feel better and less out of place.

Great Idea but poor execution. Currently visiting Thailand and thought it would be easier than google translate but it fails to recognize the Thai language. While speaking Thai it would recognize it as English and just say random things / words. Might work better for other languages but not working for me. I suggest putting a button on the top for the language you want translated and then a button on the bottom for your language. That way it would know to translate from which language. This app needs more testers and more features. Even if it means 5 second ads after 5 minutes of use. Or 10 second ad for opening app. Then ad free price. As well as a unlimited access price which is already available. But the subscription price is not worth it in my opinion.

Conversations. For the first time I am in Italy and I can actually communicate with people. The only problem is you need an Internet connection to use it. And if you’ve been here before you can only imagine when you go into stores or restaurants or any place outside there is no Internet connection. That’s the only frustrating part about this app.

Purchased but doesn’t work. I have an iPhone 13. I opened the app, tap to hold to translate Chinese to English. (I do not know if the language is mandarin or Cantonese.) Well, the message I get is “the internet connection is appears to be offline. Please make sure you are connected to the internet, then try again.” I tried this several times. My phone is working just fine. My internet is working on my iPhone. I already downloaded the app, “open” to start the translation”, then I get the message I mentioned earlier.

Awesome!. Love that it opens quickly, and is ready to translate. I work with a lot of international guests and the app saves time when trying to get the message across efficiently. I would suggest a “reverse/switch” feature that can quickly swap the languages I’m conversing in so that my guests can just speak back to me without having to go through the process of switching the languages one at a time. Overall, great app! Keep it up! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Appreciate what this app allows me to do!. A whole world has opened up for me because of this app. The language barrier has been broken. Grateful to the app developers for creating and perfecting this app. This is a tool for anyone who desires to connect with people from different cultures.

It's free, just skip the pro ad at the beginning. Make sure to click the "x". You don't need to pay for the app unless you need the features. I was amazed after reading an Apple interview about how amazing the design was for this and how they were focused on making this simple. Huge tip: HAVE DIRECTIONS IN BOTH LANGUAGES ON THE TRANSLATE PAGE. It's only in English. I know how to use the app. Random people in other countries don't. And I don't speak their language so I can't tell them how to either.

Helped gap a language barrier. So we had a new guy start at work from Puerto Rico, been in the US for 5 weeks and has started English classes. We are mechanics and having this app has helped him and I immensely! We can now communicate with ease when he needs a tool, a helping hand, or just even a question! Makes it nice and easy for general conversation as well!

Don’t waste your money. The Compliment (the good) The picture of the handsome CEO, Alexander Marktl, is worth more than the app itself. The Bad This is the worst translator ever. I speak more than more language and have tested several very basic and simple phrases and eat have been either completely wrong or linguistically incorrect. At worse, you will confuse the person you’re conversing with because they will think you’re talking to them in a different language other than their own. At best, you will still confuse the person because the translation is so grammatically and linguistically wrong, they will wither think you’re not speaking their language (similar to “worse”) or they will realize you’re speaking their language but won’t understand what you’re trying to say. Save your money and time. I’ve even tried setting the app to a specific language, but tried different dialects of that language and none helped.

They got me. I was out of the country and wanted to quickly download an app. I download the app and get ready to use it. I see it says it wants a $9.99 subscription after a week trial and say oh well. I’m only here for a few days. Tried to get it to work but didn’t. I’m not sure what was wrong cancelled, unsubscribe and removed the app from my phone within 20min. I didn’t want to forget since I was on vacation. I get home and have a bill! Really!!! The app says I’m unsubscribed in my free trial of 20min (although allotted 1 week), but I’m charged for the service on the day I downloaded the app! Yes, for this I’m asking for a refund!

NOT FREE. I hate free trials so I didn’t even use it. I opened it up and the first thing I saw was the scary free trial thing, which millions of people hate. I have been charged in the past for products I have never used. I need something that I can try for free without strings attached, but maybe with some limitations. If I like it, well then I’d go ahead and purchase the full service, but not like this. I don’t even have a credit card setup on my IPhone for this same free trial issue. So I don’t know whether this app is good or not.

Buen app!. This app is great! I used thinking it wouldn’t work well, for my surprise when I speak Spanish it translates to English properly, and same happens when I speak English. I have an ascent when I speak English but this app understands well what I say and translates everything currently. Recommend it to my boss who’s a dermatologist.

One-sided translator. I got this for my new Apple Watch and it’s pretty genius, works great and everything, except you get one star instead of five because you can only translate one way from English to another language. This defeats the point of easily having a broken or decent conversation with someone that doesn’t speak English because, and I have no idea why this never immediately clicked in the developers head(s), ahem… YOU CAN’T TRANSLATE ANOTHER LANGUAGE BACK TO ENGLISH. So you still have no clue what the other person is saying in response.

Can we change voice gender in future?. Developers y’all have outdone yourself! The translation is accurate and quick on both ends. I do wish I could change gender of the playback. I love that it translates both ways when you select the language. Thanks!

Pay forever. Unfortunately I never got to try this. Apparently, thanks to Microsoft, everyone is trying to get into the subscription business. Great for a developer but stinks for the consumer. I think this app looks like it would be very useful to me. I don’t expect it to be free but have no interest in paying for it every month forever. I think you have to ask yourself is it worth it to charge like this when I am sure many people like me walk away.

Love it so far. The others I tried had more glitches. It doesn’t work with my Bluetooth earbuds or Bluetooth speakers.. but neither does Google Translate or the other apps. I like how you can replay the pronunciation over and over easily and keep transcripts of the conversations.

So easy to use!. I love how easy it is to use. I like that it can easily recognize which language you are speaking (of the 2 you specified) and switch between them. Just add more language support and auto-language detection (so we don’t have to choose 2 languages at the beginning) and this will be a perfect app!

Not great at recognizing accents and some phrases in different languages.. I can imagine this app is great for short phrases in a different language, say I’d you were asking where the bathroom is, but it has a hard time picking up some phrases in different languages, so you often have to say the same thing over and over again, only to have it pick it up as “Chipotle Francais” instead of “Je parle Francais.”

Apple Watch app won’t work. I just recently got an Apple Watch series 4 and downloaded this app. When I tap to translate and speak, it will say “something went wrong”. I have tried speaking clearly and slowly but the same message is displayed. I give it 3 stars because I tried the app on my phone and it works but this would be better if it worked on the watch too.

Downloaded. I downloaded the app. However, there is no way to get past the first screen for the subscription version. It wants $69 for a year subscription that auto renews. In addition, the screen has text that is over written over additional text making it difficult to even sign in. I wouldn’t go past the landing page in the app if it is that disorganized from the beginning. You can sign on for a seven day free trial but I wasn’t interested in that.

Recommend. Wow it’s Amazing for me I love it it is the best conversation which one I get it And also recommend it to everybody to have this and stuff so she has this conversation if he going to other country it will be very helpful for him or for her

Does not work w/ Bavarian and other German dialects &App crashes on the Apple Watch. This will not work with some German Dialekts... specifically Franken and Bavarian. I was hoping to use this as a back up translator when my boyfriends family visits but it can’t understand the Bavarian and Franken Dialekts compared to The standard Hochdeutsch. Let me know when your app can figure out what they are saying... There are a few really *different* dialects in German that would cause the app issues so I’m not sure how reliable this would be for travel

Converse. Couple of things wrong with the over all concept of translation apps. We finally have the technology to bring this world together and communicate with others..but you have to pay money to do so. Second thing, "All 38 languages"? I know it's a work in progress and hopefully they will add more languages down the road but it's hard to come back to an app when it doesn't fulfill your need in the beginning. Preparation is important and I suggest having more than just 38 languages programmed before setting off.

Convenient. Just moved to japan for 3 years and I’ve used it a couple times and it’s pretty accurate and simple to use. The only tweak I would put on it is typing out words and translate it to the other language and the other is be able to take pictures of phrases and translate it like the google translate app

Almost perfect. Seamless user interface and Easy to use! I love this app and it’s worth the money. The only thing it lacks is offline mode. This would be perfect for travel however without offline mode it’s useless for communicating around town unless you have a pocket WiFi. Developer: please add offline mode and Ukrainian! Great product!

My review is better than yours 😂😅. It’s a good app and I love that it is free. It helps out so much with my foreign language. It translates most things well. It struggles a bit on numbers and simpler words. The main issue is that it malfunctions quite a bit. It’ll say that the connection is down when my phone still has a full connection and it will not work again until I stay off the app for a while.

Not bad. I like the app so far, I am learning Russian and do not have the best pronunciation yet the app seemed to understand me fairly well, unfortunately I would like to use it on the Apple Watch. The translation only seems to work from English to your chosen language and the “tap to speak” mechanic seems awkward to use, tap and hold to speak with an indication on the screen around the touch area that the watch is listening might help? Keeping in hopes of a future watch update!

Scammer. App purchase is deceptive. Offer to cancel after initial trial did not work. Charges appeared on my account after supposed cancellation. Unable to put in a request for refund without reactivating and likely being charged again. Translator could not keep up with the speed of the speaker which made the product unless on the first attempts. I am frustrated... the charge/price for this dud app is not monumental. But if others have had the same experience and just let this junk app keep their money, then I’d call this “highway robbery!” It is not even worthy of one star.

Translator in your pocket!. Love this app! Makes it super easy to converse with others that speak a language foreign to yours. Also you can just talk to the app and learn a language much quicker in real time rather than taking classes or using other apps. The voice response is also very pleasant. It’s like having a translator with you 24/7.

Good App but sneaky subscription. This app works pretty well for translating. It does not pick up if you talk too fast tho. My biggest issues is I forgot to cancel my free subscription before it renewed. Not a big deal normally because usually that means you pay for a month then can cancel. This app makes you pay for the whole year if you don’t cancel. Pretty crazy to wake up to a 50$ charge for an app that’s not worth that
