Channel 9. Been watching channel 9 for 58 plus years. Minus two years I spent living in Texas. I trust and enjoy hearing about my hometown of Cedar Rapids Iowa no matter where I go it will always be my home for news and best coverage of Eastern Iowa news and weather.

Widget possible for this app?. Great app it would be nice if it had a Lock Screen and regular widgets but great app.

Wrong Again. More times than not your weather forecast is wrong not even close

Still no support for the iPhone X.. Sooner or later you'll have to implement this, right? Otherwise does what it says.

Toggles are not working. I have turned off the lightning and precipitation notifications via settings in the app but still receive those notifications...all the time. I turned these off months ago and the problem still persists.

Freezes and won’t connect. Many times this app has frozen (won’t open past the home screen), won’t open (says turn on Wi-Fi - Wi-Fi is on and everything else works perfectly). Very frustrating. This happened on my old iPhone and now with my I have new up to date iPhone. I love using weatherunderground. It’s much more up to date and doesn’t crash or freeze. I have uninstalled and reinstalled more than 20 times during the last year in order to check the weather during a storm when it is “frozen”. If it wasn’t for the times this does work, and the school cancellations, I would ditch this app.

App. Can’t stand the advertisements when it opens. Looking at other apps because of this

Pop Ups. Just trying to check out the weather and you have to wait for the CID ad. Then in one scan of the upcoming week’s weather this rate our app asked twice within about 30 seconds.

New setup. Hi, new setup to view the view quickly is awful. You have ads that take forever to clear and can’t even get to a very easy to read pinpoint Doppler like before. Change is good when things need to change, but if something isn’t broke, why fix it! Go back to the old format …..PLEASE!!!!. I will no longer go to KCRG for new and weather updates if this can’t be done!!!!!!! Maybe KWWL understands that new technology just because you can use it is better!

KCRG weather app. When I first got it, it was great. Now it is garbage. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times. It only works about every other time. I access it. Half the time it just sits and flashes and doesn’t do anything. Very very very unimpressed with the KCRG weather app.

Not working. After the update today the app won’t open up.. Have removed the app from my phone and reinstalled it but still doesn’t work !! Please fix

Very Good App. When I first starting app it was a little difficult to use, but as I used it more it seemed to be updated & now offers everything I’m looking for, Pinpoint Radar, weather info for each day including wind,temperature, wind direction, chance of rain & more all by the hour for a few days. The a weekly forecast with basic information.

Widget won’t update. Some of the past issues have been resolved i.e. crashing and the frozen radar page but the widget is stuck on weather from a week ago. I tried restarting my phone, deleting the app and reinstalling the app but it makes no difference. And where is the barometric pressure? Where’s the app support?

Too many ads. Every time you want to watch the weather forecast you have to watch an advertisement. You would think that a tv station would be happy that you are using their app. That shows loyalty. But instead they use the app to jam advertisements down your throat.

Background activity drains battery. This app has used 4 hours of background activity in the last 24 hours. I only opened the app once to check the temp. I don’t even have notifications on. There is no way to block this in the background activity settings either. Please fix this as it’s drawing my batttery. Thx!

Takes forever to load. Don’t know if it’s just me but every time they make a change it takes longer time load. I can’t wait for several minutes for a weather app to load. It’s great once it loads.

Definitely less useful than the previous news/weather app. The radar is far less useful than the one that used to be on their news site. I would much prefer to get my weather and KCRG news from one location but now I have to open two different apps. It also redundant that the app always starts with an advertisement for the app.

One of the best weather APP’s out there for the Cedar Rapids, IA metro area!. The only drawback is the fact of the ads when you initially login other than that it’s a great app!

Great when it loads. I constantly have trouble with the radar loading, no matter how many times I play with the map layers it won’t show precipitation accurately. I end up closing and pulling up your competitors app and it loads perfectly fine.

Each Update Makes It Worse. This app used to be incredible. Accurate and detailed radar with many useful alerts. For some reason they keep updating the app making it harder and harder to use. It used to have a single banner ad, very reasonable for a free app. Now starting the app gives you an entire page ad for at least 10 seconds. They have also decreased the size of the radar preview making it all but useless.

Please make this Apple Watch compatible!. Really like this app but in order to use the weather function on my Apple Watch I have to use a different app. It would be nice to get a version that will work with Apple Watch so that I can continue to use this app!

Radar doesn’t work correctly. Ever since the new update my radar doesn’t work. There are time when nothing shows on radar but then I go to a different weather app and it will show cells in our area. Used to be my go to app but can’t trust it any longer

Ads Ads Ads. In order to use any and all the data you have to sit thru ads . Each time I tried to open another section it was another ad first . Liked the old version hate the new one . Will be deleting this and looking at KWWL

Hate the changes. I used to love this app. Now I use a different one. A change was made and now all it says when you click on the shaded area is “special weather statement”. That does not tell me enough information. It used to say things like “tornado watch” or “severe thunderstorm warning” which is actually useful. So disappointed in this app.

Play button gone. Ever since the most recent update, the play button on my radar is gone. KCRG is the only radar I have currently, so this bug is going to force me to use other apps.

Have to restart phone for map to work. The so called performance enhancement upgrade was a major step down. The map doesn’t work and it is extremely slow when it does. Please fix it.

Reboot. Love the app. Giving it 3 states because every time I go to another app and settle back to it it reboots from the start up ad. This is the worst part about it. Not major but annoying.

Need “Advisory” alert options, NOT just warnings!. This weather app is a great app EXCEPT it won’t give you any options for sending you any notifications if there are advisories out. We had a winter weather advisory this morning that would’ve been nice to know about in order to be aware of slick roads and delayed travel issues. At least make it an option to turn on the notification settings in the app.

What is happening?. Until today I would have given the KCRG more than 2 stars. Last night the weather station I relied on for weather info & alerts worked perfectly. Now the app is telling me that “ the application is not available in my location”. I haven’t moved. I have the same phone. I still can use the KCRG News app. What has changed? have used the weather app for a number of years because I trusted the team to provide the most accurate, updated weather forecast. I watched Joe Winters before there were apps. I already miss him! Help!! JAC

Best Weather App for Iowa. Very Accurate keeps you up to date sends notifications to alert you if needed.

Accurate forecasts. I use this app for its accuracy

App freeze. App keeps freezing up and I have to unload and reload daily. What’s up with this app. Started doing this about 1 month ago.

Good App. I like the app but where is the play button to loop the radar. I liked being able to see what direction the storm is moving.

Has to re-load every time you switch apps. Annoying that it has to reboot every time you switch out of the app, whether you close the app or not

There we you need it most. Weather info when and where I need it.

Perfectly fine. I’ve never had an issue with it. It’s my favorite app to use for checking the weather. It’s usually the most accurate and up to date predicted information you can get.

Richied. As a farmer I put trust in Kai to inform me of the weekly forecast and extended outlooks. Don’t always like them but Mother Nature has the final call. Keep up the good work.

More adds & now spam/ things not working. This add has been awesome - very helpful, but the last update that was done today on it cause the app to whack out - I’m seeing more adds & other things that shouldn’t be in this app. On top of that the app isn’t displaying temperatures correctly on the 9-12 day forecast. Please fix.

Does it still work?. No seriously, does it? I’ve had it load for me twice in the past four weeks, and I check the weather every day. They used to give me the most reliable up-to-date weather for any local area, and their weather maps were the best out there. I miss them terribly, but one of these days I’m going to stop checking to see if it will work for me.

Bait & Switch. Was pleased to see less clutter in main app until went looking for Pinpoint Futurecast. Then click over to ad-choked Weather App. Much faster to just use a dedicated weather site like Weather Underground

Meteorologists know NOTHING!. Within the span of 25 minutes in which I checked four times, the forecast went from 10% rain to 70% rain to 50% rain to 5% rain. Some might call the fluctuations but I call it dummy syndrome. “Only thing you can be terrible at and still have a job.”

Annoying. Every time this app is updated it works worse than the time before. Now it freezes so often that I’m probably going to just unload it and find another app. This is becoming way to annoying.

Bring back the useable app!. A while back an update to the weather app took away the big radar view that let me see if I needed to be concerned about an imminent storm or weather change. Now after the insertion of the same meaningless ad day after day to get into the site, I have to hunt to find even the most basic bits of weather news among all of the unneeded clutter on the screen now. I want simple information quickly from a weather app. If I need something more in depth, I can scroll down.

Map issues. Radar constantly blinks. Have to hard close the app and reload constantly.

Redesign is horrible. I knew from commercials that the app had changed designs. I did not like the way it looked, so I avoided updating. I accidentally updated it a week ago and I was right, I hate it. I am considering looking at other apps, even though I love channel 9 and I’m used to the meteorologists. There is just too much going on when you first open the app. It’s difficult to find the information I am looking for.

New website. Your new website is difficult to navigate. I cannot find your previous narratives which I found to be helpful. I have struggled to write a review and figure out a nickname that you will except. It seems that you were just trying to aggravate your viewers.

Too many ads. Good for tracking normal weather but when severe weather hits and I’m checking on my loved ones and trying to watch the broadcast I don’t want to have to watch a stupid ad every time I tune back in to the broadcast. Even if I let the broadcast load when service is spotty and my screen times out and locks, guess what… another ad. Fix this please!

Once upon a time. Once upon a time this was my favorite weather app. When I want to see a forecast I don’t want to see a bunch of advertising. Like most apps any more they a just a bunch of advertisements for garbage I really don’t want to see. I think I will delete this garbage and tune in to the AM radio for my weather.

Not a Fan. Not sure who thought scrolling through multiple screens worth of info to find what I’m looking for was a good idea! And the map on the main screen is now < 25% of the visible screen! These most recent changes are not good, and after years of using this app, I may look for a replacement. 😕

Always EMPTY of weather info. This used to be my go to. Not anymore as there is no info…just word “error” I’m looking for new local weather app. VERY DISAPPOINTED in KCRG

Doesn’t load. Opens but fails to load. The updates have made it worse and I’m tired of trying to get it to work.

No volume. No volume on your broadcast, commercials of course come in loud and clear.

Rarely loads when I need it to.. Doesn’t load quickly or not at all.

Slow. It always takes forever to load up. Then once it finally does I have to look at an ad for the Cedar Rapids airport every time.

Video ads ruined this marginal app. Ok I get the ad banners for the free app. But having to watch a 30 second video when trying to watch the live streaming during a tornado warning is just ridiculous. Only thing I keep this app for is the radar and the live video stream during warnings. UPDATE 11/2019 Just deleted this app. After the latest upgrade it’s clear that the ads are the most important thing - taking up 25% of the home page screen. No longer see any link for a live stream, home page radar is tiny...just...no... Storm Hunter out of Des Moines is much better than this one.

Most frustrating app. This is maybe the worst app I have. It constantly freezes up, many times after you wait through all of the commercials to play first.
