WTOC First Alert Radar App Reviews

App is slow and inaccurate. This app used to be my go to radar app years ago until crappy updates started happening to the app. Y’all added to much and it looks wack now. The app is always slow or glitchy and NEVER has accurate readings. The app will also say “thunderstorms” and it’ll be sunny and dry. The radar displays 2 completely different map readings between precipitation radar and 24/hr radar. I can’t remember the last time this app was accurate. I think it’s been about 3 years now

Weather app. I gave this app a 4 star because many times the radar portion doesn’t work. Forecasts are good, and weather alert updates are great. Sometimes the radar just shows “???” And will not show rain or clouds. So I actually have 4 weather apps on my phone because they all have the same tendency.

Doesn’t give accurate rain perditions sometimes. Doesn’t give accurate rain for cast saying 100% rain today. and no sight of rain for 12 days not even a cloud in the sky

Weather. Really need and helpful

It’s okay, but…. Lately this app has not been that great. We will get alerts for things that are not even nearby, but when an actual severe weather event takes place in the area where we live, we won’t get an alert. If we do get an alert it’s nearly 30 minutes after poo hits the fan. There have been straight up lightning strikes on our trees in the neighborhood, tornado sirens going off in our area, and random bursts of hail raining down and no alerts before or after the fact about any severe weather coming through. I recommend that if any one uses this app for alerts, to get another back up one just in case.

Accurate. Most accurate weather app for southeast Georgia

Unhappy. Had to remove app because my phone is too old for the latest app update. Very upset because I do use the app all the time.

Awesome Radar. Awesome radar and app worked wonderfully I was in Florida and the app let me use the radar for the local areas and helped keep me safe. Which I didn’t know WTOC app lets you track weather in other states and areas and just uses your location to find the radar.

Better app than the standard climate app. It covers radar, hourly, tells you when it’ll most likely stop raining! Even if a tornado(big or small) starts it will let you know it’s starting and WHERE On the map. Literally accessible from most of the world I thank it. I don’t use my standard iPhone weather app I use this one. Even video updates,etc anything. It will alert you phone of incoming wind,rain,etc. Me and my partner love it! He introduced it to me

Needs iPad and iPhone x optimization. Don’t understand how the news app is optimized but the weather app isn’t. Will change rating once it’s optimized for both the iPad and iPhone X, until then will delete and use another weather app for local support. Smh, again news app decent and optimized weather app nope. Makes sense right.

Weather report. We watch the weather on our phones and we usually get what we read and it is really good to have it on our phone we enjoy it

WTOC Weather App. I highly rate it. Covers every facet of the unpredictabilities of weather. Anticipates the vagaries of Mother Nature, especially storms. Clearly lays out what to expect from good to bad weather conditions. Those at WTOC who watch the weather conditions are consummate professionals who work to give viewers all the necessary information in order to make their own decisions about whether to venture out with umbrellas or to leave them at home. Being informed is better than guessing.

Ads. We are forced to watch ads from the television. Ads on apps are so annoying.

Too many ads. So many advertisements I have to constantly dig behind and fight to find what I want. Your competition doesn’t do that. I’ll stick with them.

Annoying ads. Good weather app. But had to remove app cause of its very intrusive ads. Much too difficult reading the weather because of full page pop-up ads.

Awesome!. My family and I just went through a tornado and after that this app has been helping to keep my anxiety low, it’s also spiked my creativity cause seeing the storm and how big or small it is is really cool! If you wanna feel safe this is the best app to use much more accurate than the basic iPhone weather app I love it!

I’m ready to sue at this point. This app is so inaccurate everywhere I go it says there is rain in the area but no rain where I am, while we are driving through rain.

I love the weather app for my iPhone!. I use the weather app multiple times a day before I take my dog for a walk to be prepared for whatever the weather will be. I also use it to see what the weather is for my relatives around the country and to track big storms coming our way.

Best Weather App. I think this is the best weather app in Savannah!

Confused. Feel the app is lacking lately. Seems to me that the hourly and daily forecast do not jibe to often anymore. Makes things confusing when using the app for work related things. Could be just me?

Slow. The app is very slow. Takes forever to load anything. I also hate when I click away from it for 5 seconds, reopen the app, and it reloads everything. Which then takes me another 5 minutes to get back to where I was. So annoying. I really like the alerts and thing they are definitely a plus. Really the only reason I’m giving it 3 starts. It also takes forever for any videos to load.

Reduce the commercials. App is riddled with ads and the gps always has a problem finding location. Anytime you try to view a forecast video it plays an annoying ad video or commercial

I had to delete it.. I liked his app back when it worked. Now after this last update it won’t play any of the videos and the weather map doesn’t load or play at all.

WTOC App. Really enjoy the weather app. Used to watch the Weather Channel but it got so busy with junk that it was hard to see the weather. The WTOC is straight forward and simple and easy to maneuver to just give me the weather facts. Great job y’all 👏

Weather App. Radar is by far the best I’ve seen of any of our local network affiliates, very good graphics, the best quality by far, I always use my WTOC radar app to check the weather, and I find it to be by far the best. I have been watching WTOC radar for the better part of 50 years all the way back to the Patrick Procop days and Doug Weathers, I feel like they are part of my family, and always will be! Reliable. I can ALWAYS count on WTOC‘s weather forecasts and the great radar! If I wonder if a storm is approaching, I first look at the radar, then the hourly forecast, then watch the news clips. I watch the morning news, then I’m away from my TV. My WTOC weather app keeps me informed!

So frustrating!. This app continually informs me I must connect to wifi even though I am connected. It should use my data regardless. Will not pull up radar...when I need to see what’s happening with the weather it would be nice to have an app that works!

Radar Issue. What is the purpose of the 24hr radar, if the radar doesn’t extend past 12hrs. The Timelapse continues, however, the actual radar stops moving at the 12hr mark. It’s been this way for several months now.

Great anywhere. I lived in Bluffton SC eight years and learned to depend on this channel for alerts and up-to-date weather bulletins. I now live in VA and it is still my favorite weather app. Thank you for your work to keep us safe!!

Love it but needs a few changes. I love this app but wish when ever you get an alert for lighting you can change it to an notification alert beep not a voice that say "lightning has been detected in your area" because sometimes it will ring at 3 am and scare me half to death. And also WTOC your video player sometimes doesn't work but it might be me so maybe you won't need to change it.

Slow loading - no options. The app loads slow on my 3Gs, opens to the map which has the 3 day forcast so small it is hard to read (no resizing option). There is no ability to select a different home view. The 10 day forecast overlaps and 1/2 the days are covered.

Poor Upgrade. By upgrading this app WTOC took a great weather tool and made it hard to use. I am deleting it from my phone.

Clunky. While I like wtoc this app is very clunky I don't like how the menu and maps are set up.

5 Stars From Me. This app does exactly what I need it to; give accurate UP TO DATE radar on a clean, zoomable map, with an animation option. I use TWC Max for most of my daily weather info. But one thing it lacks is up to date radar which can sometimes be as much as an hour behind. If a storm is in the area its nice to have the most recent images... where it was 45min ago doesn't help. App opens immediately to live radar so I don't even have to select anything. It also doesn't support multitasking which I prefer so it automatically refreshes with the most current info.

Great App. The latest update is great! The graphics look nice, and it is great to have the video feature.

No map?. The map doesn't show location, only a black screen. Also, "Future" time on forecast is way off.

Excellent. This app is awesome, props to you guys. I love how I can see the radar, cloud coverage, wind speeds, ect. The hourly forecast is highly accurate as well. All from my current location. You did great!

This app is helpful!!. It helps me know if a storm is coming right away!! Get this app!

Mediocre at best. The most annoying thing with this app is getting “Weather Alerts” constantly for areas that are HUNDREDS OF MILES AWAY! Every time I clear the notification, it pops back up. So my only choice is to turn off notifications altogether for this app - which is ridiculous - because what to do if there is an actual emergency? Annoying. Weather info is nice, radar is good. Ads are annoying. The way the app is laid out makes it feel that it isn’t optimized for the iPhone 5 screen (but it is). I don’t like hating on a local business’s app but it needs improvements.

Pretty good, but.... The rain chances change so dramatically in such a short period of time. One minute you can have an 80% chance of rain for the next day - a few hours later there is only a 20% chance. That's not forecasting, that's guessing.

Great app!. I use it at least once a day. I love how you can look at the radar no matte Where you are!

Chg it back!!!!. Don't like the new format. Now I have to open the menu, click map, open menu, click forecast; just to see everything that I used to see when the old version opened. That's what we loved about the old one, everything you wanted to know was right there when it opened. Not convenient at all!!!

Social media. Please make app "share" friendly through social media apps like twitter and Facebook.

Excellent but a little bit annoying. Goes right to radar and has good features but when my wi-fi is connected it said could not connect to wi-fi,good job wtoc! But if you can fix the app I would appreciate a lot!

The best for the east. Why I think the reason why this it the best app for you is because WTOC frost alert keeps you updated on every thing and also is the most accurate also first alert tells you when you need prepare and how to when to take shelter. They're always there

Great for warning about severe weather!. Great little app. I downloaded it to keep an eye on severe weather today and have not been disappointed. Other weather apps tend to give me warnings late, whereas this one seems to give them right when they're issued, which is important when tornadoes are involved!
