Review. The pictures both variety and quality are great. I am, however frustrated in that I have not been able to join. I even went to the library and had a librarian who is very computer literate; she teaches computer classes to all skill levels, try to help me join. We set up a password and spent a half hour or more trying to get everything to work. She was unable to get me joined. So, I have to be content with just the basics. (Sigh) Too bad. I found one other site that provides the same service. I will be trying them also.

Great app, but…. The only very inconvenient thing about this app is you can’t go back to your searched images after looking at a selection. You have to retype your keywords into the search bar and rescroll through everything again. It’s better just to use your browser to look for images.

A must. I feel this is a must have app. Easy to work with. Great images!

Problem with the iPad app. I couldn’t click on any video and download on my iPad. iPhone app is working.

App not working. I having been trying to download a video for three days now. When I type in looking for videos or images nothing is showing. Is this app down? At this point, nothing is working. 😔 Can you'll make an announcement please.

Amazing app but... I can’t go back to previous page. I saw a similar issue, the response was swiping from left to right is the way to go back. But this didn’t work for me. I'm using I pad.

After update, can't go back to all results. Since the most recent update (as of April 12, 2021) can't go back to results after looking at an image. Have to re-search and find where I was. Not a fan of the new layout, the UI of the app was MUCH better in the previous version

Diversity and creativity. Many times I feel that this app is missing some creativity. The photos are not interesting and beautiful enough

They Broke It. iPhone user. It won’t let me download anything with the new update. The layout is crap now. You can’t go back(tried swiping). And over all it’s like a internet browser instead of an app. If I wanted the browser version I would just go to a browser. Not the actual app. Not happy. Very disappointed.

A little difficult. I came in today trying to find a tuxedo cat for a story of mine, but after typing Tuxedo Cat, very few actual tuxedo cats showed up, so I tried black and white cats, which only showed up black and white pictures. I love the variety, but I need it to be more precise on what I searched up. I had to settle on one of thee only tuxedo cat pictures I could find, I’m just glad she’s purrdy like I was looking for🖤🤍

A great service.. There’s a lot of free content, easy to search, choose and save. If you are a creator you should give it a look.

Great resource. The first place I go to for powerful art and graphics to highlight posts, slides, etc.

Helpful. I found this so helpful for my videos. Sometimes it’s difficult to create a picture but when you have the voice for narration Pixabay gives the picture! It has a library of millions of images you can use for your videos ! I recommend this to anyone !

No back button. I’m not seeing a back button. Like when you’ve viewed a photo nor when you are on the page for a photo. I keep having to completely close out the app in order to start the search all over again to look at other options. Also I was hoping it would have fewer steps to download an image then it did via safari but I still have to do the “I’m not a robot” for each download. 😒😠 Frustrating.

Hard to use.. It doesn’t let me go back to the pictures I was at. Maybe I just don’t know how to use it

iPhone app needs a back button. I love this app, and I thank all the photographers who share their talent by donating their beautiful photos to this platform. However, I WISH there was a *simple* “BACK” button on the iPhone app, it drives me crazy to click on a photo, and then have to begin my search all over again! 4 stars now but will raise to 5 stars if this is fixed.

Broken 🙁. App no longer works for me with the recent update. Search results are sometimes never returned. And landscape orientation no longer works on the iPad. May as well just use the website now.

Wonderful place to get resources.. I’ve used the site on my desktop for several months now. It’s a great place to find and get all kinds of media for a project. My only gripes with the app itself is that it sometimes has issues downloading video files on mobile. The way it searches for certain things can be a bit finicky as well, but that’s an issue with the site itself as well as mobile.

Very Nice. I love that there are so many pictures to choose from.

Loved the older version. I still use Pixabay often but preferred the older version that was easier to navigate on iPad. I now think twice before using the app because I don’t want to have the hassle of trying to get to previous screens when browsing and I prefer viewing in landscape mode vs portrait.

Awesome app but... It would be nice if there was a back button cause once you tap on a photo there is no way to go back to where you were in the scroll so you have to restart your search which becomes very tedious and slightly annoying because there are multiple photos I’d like to save during my scroll 🥲

Great pictures to deliver great messages. Pixabay is a great tool that provides the user to find pictures to create the message they are trying to deliver without the threat of copyright issues. The site is free and there are over a million pictures to use from and even videos. We also have the choice to purchase pictures if we really want too! Thanks Pixabay for providing a wonderful platform!

Absolutely the crappiest app. I have tried to join using 4 different user names, 2 different email addresses, and 4 different passwords and in every attempt I receive the message that one or the other is already in use! I cannot establish an account! I have never run into this EVER!!

No back button??. Why is there no back button on the app? When I click on the photo image and I save it, there’s no way to go back I have to go back to the home screen or a half to ask out of the whole app and reopen it.

New app is not better app. Can’t go back to the previous page-swiping doesn’t work. Landscape mode with iPad was soooo much more useful. I use a keyboard with iPad and now it’s sideways. Annoying. I hope you can fix these issues because I love Pixabay.

Free high quality images. Love the images from all over the world!! Not a fan of some of the more intimate images. These should be restricted.

Website has better navigation than app. Pixabay is great, but you might find the website easier to use than the app. One reason is the app has no back/forward navigation. This means after finding an image you like and adding it to your project collection, you’ll have to type in your search keywords all over again to continue browsing for images. Also, choosing the image type (photo, line drawing, etc) from the drop down selector erases your keywords from the text field. Basically the UI/UX could be better.

Overall it’s great except…. The only annoying thing is that there is no back button, so if you look at an image you have to start the search over again

Thank you contributors. So many kind, talented and generous artistic contributors lending others their visions! It’s really wonderful. Sometimes I just like to see what others see to get outside of my small little world. If I download an image I make sure to say how much I like and appreciate the photo and, at the least, if I’m hurried, I’ll say thank you in any language and where I’m from. I think they like to know how much appreciation there is for the image they captured and from what part of the world it’s reaching. Great App. Thank you.

App seems to be glitchy. Unable to search, login or view any images on the app. It’s been like this for the past 2 days from what I noticed. Not sure if the site is down?

App runs poorly. I’ve noticed that the website runs much smoother than the app. Does the app tends to freeze my phone and log me out consistently while the website does the complete opposite hope this can be fixed.

No back button to return to your search page. Once you click on an image to get information on it, you can’t go back …. you have to start over. Deleting the app until they fix that

Honestly, needs an update doesn’t have much options.. So, I got this app so I could make edits of my fav character from my fav show, that being “Harry Potter”. I looked up my fav character from the show and found nothing but a drawing. So, it doesn’t have a lot of choices. Plus, the searching gets really frustrating. I am very dissatisfied and would give a 0 but I have to give it a 1. *Also if you do see this and you respond I feel like this app needs a lot of changes and updates.*

With todays creative content world expanding due to the numerous social media, indie authors, bloggers, content creators and designers those who do not about Public Domain benefits need to learn them. Say thank you to those who provide such materials for your benefit. Consider funding them in some way even if it is only a short bugle small amount.

I love the site. The app frustrates.. Sometimes I will have a well-composed shot I need for various business applications ahead of time. Sometimes I’ve planned the need and will arrange for photography. But often, a whim hits me and I need a high-quality shot quickly. Pixabay is my go-to. But the app randomly signs me out and that’s annoying. So one star goes away.

Hopeless!!! One issue follows another. Waited over a year to get iPhone user functions reinstated with a bug fix, then within just weeks, the damned icon disappeared. AND NO, the icon isn’t hidden in the library or folder etc....

Not working. On iPad. Can’t search for images. “No results found” ??? Edit: not working on iPhone either. Useless.

Need to say though I wish I hadn’t updated the app. Its super frustrating and more difficult to navigate than it ever has been. Please go back to the best version of you Pixabay, because when you are at your best, you are awesome

For artists its flawed. I use the Pixabay website a lot to get images for use in art and design work, and using their photos as references, e.g. A photo of a hand. The app immediately falls short of the website because, unlike mostbrowsers on iPad, this app will not do side-by-side multitasking. You can put your drawing app on top of the Pixaki app, but thats not ideal. The selection of images is still great, and you can pinch-zoom. I'll add more to this review as (/if) I use the app more.

No results found. Used to work great now always says ‘ no results found’

Great website, now useless app. Fantastic reference website, but alas the app has be become useless. All I get is “no images found”. Seems it no longer connects to their sites database or something. For a while there at least my account favourites still showed up/worked... now not even that. There is nothing that works on this app anymore it seems. Just use their site instead.

Nice photos but challenge to navigate. Nice range of images. However I struggle to find a way to move around in it. Let’s say I search on ‘plants’.I get a nice range of thumbnails of plants. I click on one to see it bigger or download it but can’t find a way to get back to the previous search results of plant thumbnails to choose another to look at larger. This navigation may be obvious but nothing in FAQs for a hint. I never have issues moving back on the main PC site. Im using an iPad Pro.

Useless App. Easier to log in on your phone browser and do things that way. Tried multiple searches but it only worked when I typed “dog”. Could only browse popular uploads which is pointless.

Expected better. Just downloaded this and although I signed in ok none of my favourited photos were there. Also won’t let me upload or returns no results when searching for ‘koala’ and I know for sure there are pics available. Disappointing.

Logs me out continuously. This is a great app..but please fix this issue. I login with Facebook and go back to save the picture that I like and it says I’m not logged in. Continuously logs me out..over and over

Great source of high quality images. Pixabay has always had an excellent selection of great pictures with great colour and clarity. They also have so many to choose from on any subject you request.

Works fine for me. I can successfully download all the pictures I want. Not sure why others are having issues. Make sure to delete any space after your keyword search. When the space is there can’t see anything. You’re welcome 😎

Barely any images. There are barely any images available when browsing, and search mostly comes up empty. If there are results it only provides a handful of what its says are thousands. Too bad, I’m a fan, was hoping the app would be as good or better than the website, but thats surely not the case.

Love this app. Free stock images. How can you go wrong. Why in the heck would you use Shutterstock which wants to bankrupt you for 3 images when you could use this app. I also like Picsart (which used to include Shutterstock) and I do like that but Pixabay is the best. I ❤️ it.

No images found. I used to love this app. Now everytime I search for something I get ’no images found’. I can reinstall the app, it will let me do one or two searches then back to ’no images found’ I'm a big supporter of Pixabay, I've been a contributor for years. I wish I could still use the app.

Lacking. Needs iCloud integration. Presently, a multi step process to get the image where I need it is frustrating.

-. Filtering doesn't work. If 1,000 images are available, only about 10 are displayed and can't look at the other 990 pictures. A lot of the pictures are also low quality, blurry.

Can’t find anything. Its hard to find stuff because it always says “image not found” Whenever i look at realistic sketch, or drawings, it doesn’t take me to what I wanted it to. The app crashes alot so can you please fix this glitch and put more realistic drawings and sketch in thank you 😊

Great reference photos.. I’m an amateur painter and I get most of my reference photos from here. It has a wonderful selection of fantastic photographs.

Inspiring, useful, and frustrating. When searching, and adding images to collections, when you tap on an image, there is no back button to go back to my search. Otherwise, i love it for finding inspiring images. If i'm careful, i can tap the bookmark icon and add to a collection without leaving the search. Yay. But the bookmark icon is difficult to tap on the right side of the ipad, and i need to open the image to add the image to a collection...and its a one trip. i have to go back and start the search again. frustrating.

Good photos but poorly designed app. When you click on a photo you can’t go back to your search results. The “I am not a robot” verification process is onerous. I won’t be using this much.

Apps Got Issues. I’m not sure if it’s a case of the app needing updating for the latest iOS but it’s simply not allowing for download.

Two stars at the moment.. Cannot actually download the videos from the app, every video saves as ‘attachment’. So I will go use the website.

App is Trash. I only used the app a few times, but I seem to have to login to it every time I need it which is annoying. It’s supposed to be an app, a convenient thing to use. Save our login info! I just opened the app, attempted to search for an image real quick and got an Authentication error. Very annoying. Uninstalled. Waste of my time. I love the website on desktop

Doesn’t Work!!. It doesn’t give any way to actually download a video!!! It’ll go straight to viewing it but there’s no way to download it. What good is that!?!?

Authorization no longer valid. In spite of correctly logging in, I keep getting “Authorization no longer valid” errors when liking or favoriting a photo. The content of the site is good but the app itself is very poorly written.

Awesome for reference photos!. As a beginner watercolor painter reference photos are essential for me. There are other fantastic websites like paintmy*****. com, however you are required to pay a subscription fee. As I progress in skill I think that is something I may choose to invest in, but right now that added cost just seems silly (especially when you factor how much I've spent getting good paints, brushes, and paper!) This app is free. You can't beat free!

Just needs optimization. This app needs 4 things. Browse in iPad Portrait mode. Split-view multitasking. Ask for file name before downloading, preferably with artist's account name attached so we know who we got pic from. Other languages, at least French and Spanish. You should also add a FAQ for users to understand copyright and trademark laws. Even if that Disney character is recolored, we can't use it commercially, or any other trademarked icon. Explain model and property releases in FAQ. Sadly, some members are using this site like Flickr. They don't understand that when they upload an original image to Pixabay, they are donating it to be used for ANYTHING by anyone. This should be explained in the upload dialog box the first time a member tries to upload. Add more SEO keywords to find this in Appstore. When I search for "free pictures" "free stock" or "CC0" Pixabay is not listed. Thank you for providing the site.

Broken app. I can’t edit a filter on a search without it complaining about safe searching being on by default. I’m clicking elsewhere on the screen but it’s picking up the wrong clicks. I can’t use it…

No images available. Every time I click on a topic I get a black screen with the message “No images available”. When I first found this app I was so happy. It helped me and my friend with our videos, allowing us to tell our stories with relatable images. I’m kind of lost without it. I hope they look into what’s going sideways with the app.

Works well but needs adjusting. Updated review: The app still needs updated for the layout of the iPhone X. I am still unable to easily go back to the previous screen and it will still completely lock up. I’m going to have to uninstall it completely until this is fixed. Original review: Works very well on the website through safari, but on the iPhone X up near the notch I can only see 2 full icons and like 1/8th of the third icon. Downloading pictures seems to also make the app completely lock up. iOS 12.1

In love with this app. I love this app and enjoy it very much but would you guys be able to update the app to be able to view the app in vertical mode? Not just alway in horizontal mode that would be appreciated. Thanks! To be able to view the app in both modes would be awesome. I used to be able to do it but after an update it’s no longer available.

EXCELLENT APP. I usually don’t leave reviews on apps, but this one satisfied me so much that I had to! I can’t believe this app has such a low rating of 3.7 stars!! That’s not accurate! I definitely recommend downloading the app. The images are diverse, high quality, and perfect for what I’m using them for 😁

Hate update. I use to love using this app and it helped me a lot then they did the update now its absolutely unusable for me.

Not working when logged in.. When I first downloaded the app it was working great. All the photos were nice and searching worked immediately. Now whenever I try and type anything into the search it pops up “no images found”. I can’t see any photos on the app anymore. I’d really like it to work again as it is a great reference source for my artwork! The only way it is usable is if you aren’t logged in (at least for me right now). Won’t save & no support. Tried multiple times saving different images to my iPhone and it wouldn’t work at all. Seems like an easy fix (maybe) because the app doesn’t ask for access to Photos and it doesn’t show up in settings to allow it. I tried contacting Support first, but the link to contact them doesn’t work. I think there’s a lot of potential here, but bug fixes are in order.

Swiping doesn’t work on Apple devices. You basically have to start over in the latest version.

It's finally here! Get this app ASAP. I love Pixabay and am so happy they were able to develop this app. I use their photos daily and they're amazing. Can't rate this highly enough. This is a must-have app if you work on websites, communities, social media, etc.

Update - Torsten Rocks. Jun 7, 2017 Update: My original review on May 29 was negative, reflecting a bad support experience on the forums. I received a response to that review through the App Store, and the response has been excellent: helpful, polite, everything I could possibly hope for from an app's support. And my original issue (not being able to log into the mobile app) was also resolved! Personal thank you to Torsten for being so wonderful. For the app and service themselves, this is really nice; I like the lovely images that I plan to use for reference when drawing and painting.

Search stopped working. The search function on the app has stopped working since the iOS 13 upgrade. Maybe just one more problem with iOS 13, but Pixabay will probably need to fix it on your end. I have an older iPad, that is, its two years old.

UPDATED: No save to Camera Roll?!. Thank you for finallyyyyyy finding the search feature BUT, now when I go to save a picture there’s no option for saving to Camera Roll. I am using an iPhone 7 and the latest version of the iOS 13.2.3. Only options are to copy, send to message contacts and other apps, save to shared album, assign to contact, save to Files, and create Watch face. Please fix this. What use is it to see nice pictures if you can save and use them? Edit: The issue of no images found has comeback. This is ridiculous.

Photos skip back to beginning when searching!. Ugh. The Photos skip back to beginning when searching! It doesn't happen all the time. It's just random and it drives me nuts. As a photographer the whole idea of this app is awful and a race to the bottom that can't be undone. But if others want to give out their photos for free I'll take what I need and use 'em and abuse 'em. I just credit the app if at all. Screw giving credit to the actual photographer since they are a serious part of the problem.

LOVE IT. Searchable database of pictures that you can use with attribution. Remember to tip your photographer!

Review. My favorite go place for beautiful images

Log In Error Cycle. Can’t add to or view favorites without logging in. Once logged it, I’m given the “your authorization is no longer valid, please log in again” and the cycle continues over and over. Website works fine. This app is trash. Also please make people understand they are giving away their photos/art, not just sharing it! this isn’t Instagram or flicker or photo bucket. I’m tired of seeing unusable copyrighted stuff like Disney etc. This should be noted in the upload dialogue in big bold writing the first time you upload.
