Ugh. We recently had several cameras and a doorbell installed. Nothing but problems. We get hundreds of notifications daily because the cameras will not save changes we made. We have changed all sorts parameters but they change right back (microphone, sensitivity). What good is it when you get over 500 notifications in a day. We can’t possibly check each one because it continues to send a notification every time afar goes by. We have shut off microphone ( comes right back on) moved sensitivity to the minimum and changed area to steps of the porch. But still hundreds of notifications daily. Horrible app!!! I would give it a “0” if I could.
It does what it’s supposed to do. I suspect that all of you who are having problems with this app must not know what your doing. It works just fine for me. I’ve never had an issue adding a camera, or NVR. The stream is selectable. It defaults to the sub stream (for a reason) but you can change it to the HD feed if you want. My only complaint is that I haven’t figured out a way to separate different alarms. I want to be notified by my doorbell camera if someone hits the button, but I don’t like my phone constantly alerting me every time a cat walks by! I wish I could silence the motion alarm, while retaining the intercom alarm
Consistently bad. I don’t know if I’ve ever been able to, a single time, watch an event playback from my phone. Ever. I have to physically do it on the hard drive if I want the video. What’s the point of an app that doesn’t do the ONE thing it should. I can think of like 2 reasons I’d ever want to see the live feed, but there’s a million reasons I’d want to pull up an event playback. Every app update says “bug fixes” but it seems that the biggest bug, “device decoding timed out. Check the device network connection” goes unfixed. I have an internet download speed of 330gb/s and an upload of 10gb/s. Plenty to stream any streaming service in 4k but apparently not enough to watch a 10sec clip of someone attempting to break into my car. Thanks Hik-connect for constantly sucking when i actually need you.
HiK Vision CCTV System installed by Vortex Security.. Not worth the money whatsoever. The system is NOT user-friendly, especially when trying to locate any possible incidents via “playback”. It’s a VERY poor design. The night vision is blurry and unusable should you need it for legal purposes. I’ve been thru 3 doorbells and I’m still waiting on my refund as their doorbell was taken out by them nearly 4 months ago. This was a terrible investment. I would’ve been better off paying a handyman installing something for less than 1/5th of this system’s total cost ($$5,000++!!) from some knock-off company.
Terrible!. On my second system and it is not good. The Cameras are supposed to be HD, honestly I do not notice any improvement. The system crashes often. When this company provides an update you can count 100% that it will totally mess your phone, pad and computer viewing. If you call this company’s Tech Support, it prompts you to press #1 to leave a message as they only work bankers hours 9-5. Back to trying to leave a Tech Support Message... pressing the number 1 does nothing but rewind the message. Totally frustrating. If you are counting upon this system for your personal safety at your home... look somewhere else! I just emailed the company that I have a relationship with and who recommended this system to me and asked that they come asap and remove it then find me a better one that works. One whereby the actually company itself answers the phone and if you send them an email for tech support, it is kicked back as a bad email address. Very disappointed, going to dump it asap and never look back. Do your homework before you commit thousands of dollars in custom installation and get let down. Heaven forbid if you experience an act of violence or break in and this system is down. Oh and I angry at this company’s lack of customer service.
Default date. It’s annoying that this system doesn’t work properly, when sometime happen and there is no energy for a while, when the systems came back it sets automatically to the date 1970 which is insane, I mean you can’t not make a playback it something bad happen in that time lapse because of the date, if this work with internet, why the hell it doesn’t go to the actual date? You can’t no be all days all time seeing if the date change because of the system and then u do this for security but when u really need to check something on the cameras you can’t see anything for you bad system.
Dissapointed. I have had these cameras for 6months now. The installer said we purchased the best of the best as far as the cameras go. Only being able to view the cameras from an APP only is and not from a website disappointing. When trying to review past activity on this APP that never works the way it is supposed to i can only load past footage only up to 90% on the app then says network error. The app is updated. I have tried many times on both cellular and wifi. I am ready to have SecurlySound come and remove these cameras and go back to ADT cameras which i had for 5 years with no issues.
UX needs a little improvement. Overall it is good. But everytime I want to see the playback, I’m frustrated with the timeline bar that always starts from midnight :( No one gotta watches things from the midnight. It should just point at the current time then we can easily navigate it back to 10 minutes before, or one hour before, up to our desire. And the 2x, 4x is nowhere. It’s the CCTV, that is a must afterall.
People that complain are mostly ignorant. I have a hikvision 4k nvr and also have installed many systems for customers. They are a solid product and the app is legit if you understand it. Most the negative reviews are from people that don’t understand the technology and just want to open the app on their device and it work perfect. A couple issues with that.... 1. Quality high speed internet that is connected to the camera system(dvr/nvr) is a huge issue on most the complaints. 2. Good cellular or Wi-Fi connected to the device with what you’re trying to view the cameras dvr/nvr on. 3. All dvr/nvr units have certain tech specs regarding max users max bandwidth(not local internet BUT bandwidth between the nvr/dvr and the cameras) that IS STATED AND AVAILABLE on the systems box instructions and online for your particular unit model and all models. 4. Ive never had a issue with quality from the cameras that is outside the specs to the dvr/nvr if you are accessing from the dvr/nvr unit itself via hdmi or whatever video cable you use, everyone that complains seems to be all from remote access devices and probably don’t even know how to physically access their dvr/nvr 4. Stop giving bad reviews because you don’t understand the technology.
DS-HD1 doorbell camera configuration. This app is required to properly configure the DS-HD1. iVMS-4200 can do a lot to configure it, but this app is the only way I found to set the chime type to mechanical, for instance. Make sure that you allow the app to have “precise location” turned on in Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Hik-Connect, otherwise the app will not be allowed to read your WIFI SSID to copy it to the DS-HD1 during installation. It will be stuck repeatedly asking you to connect to WLAN otherwise.
It’s not the app, it’s your network speed. The people giving this app a negative rating are not familiar with how their internet effects the stream of their cameras. If you have a poor upload speed at the camera’s site, you’re going to run into issues trying to view them remotely from this app. That is not the app’s fault, you just need a faster upload speed from your internet provider.
User Experience. Overall app is pretty functional in meeting my needs. It does have a few flaws that need fixing, the main one is after logging out and logging back in at times you have to start the cameras again. Much easier if once you present your credential it brings up live view with all the cameras. Overall it’s pretty fast and provide quick access to notification, live view and play back
Generally garbage and not reliable. The app gets 2 starts for working. The cameras connect slowly, but I guess I’m lucky that they do anyway. The app does NOT support the iPhone X despite it receiving multiple updates since the phone’s release, which is particularly annoying. And finally, it shows more cameras than you have on your account and lists them as buffering but they never load. For example we have 4 cams on our account but the app always shows 6. 4 cameras load and we can see the live feed but the other 2 say buffering all the time. This is stupid because we only have 4 cameras. Anyway, not a very good app and not a very good company.
Top Notch Service and Product. Old black control box of Camera system was troubleshooted remotely and very effectively by Dermot Breslin of Reliable Security Products Ltd. From Dublin to our home in Rosslare Co. Wexford. Without Dermot’s skill and perseverance we would never have found the root cause of this problem. It is vitally important to us as we live abroad and rely on the Camera System. Dermot sent the Hikvision control box and a camera to us overnight and it was picked up in Wexford at 8:00 am next morning. The new system was up and running by 10 am same say with Dermot’s guidance and expertise. This was just a brilliant customer service experience backed up with a great brand.
5 star app before the new face-lift, now it’s frustrating. This update that gave the app a new look made the app incredibly frustrating to use, now you have to click 10 times before you go to full screen, and it often sends you to a single camera view where you can’t just swipe to the next, but you have to select each camera individually. Additionally, when you’re able to scroll between different cameras there’s lag that wasn’t there before, and in the previous versions you could keep scrolling from the end of the cameras list back to the beginning, now it just ends.
Version 4.15.1 is good to go. Version 4.15.0 released on June 9, 2021 causes errors and full system crashes. After updating to 4.15 I could no longer view my cameras. On top of that I noticed that every time I did try to view them via the app the entire system would freeze up and reboot. My iPad with the older 4.12 version still worked perfectly……until it updated to 4.15 and now that one causes the same errors and reboots as my iPhone. Update: Version 4.15.1 released on June 24, 2021 and addresses whatever the problem was with 4.15.0. Everything works perfectly again.
Playback locks up 90% of the time. Camera images are good, and the cameras open in live view pretty quickly. But playback is horrible. The system automatically records based on motion detection, but very few of the video clips will play back. The display counts up the percentage into the 80’s or 90’s, then freezes and throws an error message that the wifi network is bad. Absurd because other video clips will play back just fine, and it’s the same network. If I want to see what happened at a certain day and time, I have about a 10% chance of being able to. You guys need to fix this.

Guys, this is the best application you can purchase, there are all the records of your history that you lived with the crisis of your cry with God, even if for some time the cameras record and everything can probably be erased if this application were human , he would be the only one to cry at the prayers of a woman crying out to a powerful God! Please allow for Date changing while viewing the camera. You guys did an update that took away a very accessible and user friendly experience, I could easily click on a designated camera and go back serval days all within the same interface.. This was removed for some odd reason on your updates . Now I can only view up to 24 hours of a recording
With every update, the app is getting only worse!. Since the 6.0 version update, stability of the app and functionality itself is different world when it comes to this app. Have been using Hik-Connect and Hi-Look for nearly two full years. Since then, every major update you released the app was worse. I don’t know what’s happening and why, but you clearly has some issues with the development. Hi-Look was better for me because it’s always a bit late for update to be released so l used them in cascade, but now Hi-Look is as bad as Hik-Connect. I don’t know why is this happening, it should be better with every update that comes out but it’s quite the opposite. Main problem is the stability - when I load all of my 12 cameras on one screen they’re at SD, it’s ok, but when I load only one of them and because I want them in HD, they’re all in HD while single preview, the app just freezes for few seconds and sometimes the app crashes. Not to mention minor bugs while replaying the feedback, the app behaves like I’m using iPhone 5… whery buggy and glitchy! One phone I’m using the app is 13 Pro Max and the other one is 14 Pro Max. This problem persists for more than half a year. Please, what’s the situation for this kind of problem? How it can be resolved, is there some kind of paid app for playback of this kind because it’s very annoying and frustrating for such a premium brand.
Can’t get push notifications to work. I have been trying for hours to get notifications to work. I have read the instructions and watched a bunch of YT videos. This version of the app does not match any documents I have been able to find. Live view is working and notifications appear to be enabled on the camera and on my phone but they don’t work.
No complaints & I’m a tech dummy!. I really don’t understand any of these bad reviews. Unless the app just works perfectly fine for me and the other 5 star reviewers which is very doubtful. I had the iVMS-4200 system installed at my place of business a few years ago for security reasons mainly safety of my employees. I just recently started using this app in the last couple of months and it works fine. I don’t have any problems watching in real time with no lagging & picture quality is great. I installed this and have never did any of the updates since I read on here after people update they have problems. Very happy with this app.
Bad non responsive. I installed this update and thought it would be a new improvement. But boy I was wrong. Does not open every time. When it does open then you have to tap another icon or setting to open what you want. Then it lags you have to wait for video to catch-up. The old version is no longer available so I am stuck with this version that is horrible.
New Customer with 16 Cameras Installed. This is my first night after installation/labor of 16 cameras inside and out and I’m pretty happy! I may need to add more outside lighting, however all inside/outside cameras are viewing great through the App in real time and I’m still learning how to view past video. I wish I’d done this many years ago!! A piece of mind, when you hear things bump in the night, is so worth the equipment/labor of cameras by ADT and the App works marvelous! I’m soooo blessed by it all, as a disabled senior, tetraplegic, wheelchair user, and widow trying to live independently for as long as possible!!
Loved the Hikvision app before they changed it. I use the Hikvision app on both my IPad and IPhone about 2 or 3 months ago the app was updated. They changed the PTZ function previously the pan and tilt functions were separate from the zoom, the pan and tilt icon was on the bottom left corner of my screen and the zoom was on the bottom right. “Very easy to operate” now for some stupid reason they combined both the pan/tilt and zoom into one icon which now means you have to exit out of pan/tilt in order to use zoom or exit out of zoom in order to perform pan/tilt. You have to continually do this step constantly if you’re following a moving object. I hope Hikvision gets enough negative feedback and changes the PTZ function back the way it was previously “separate icons for pan/tilt and zoom”
Horrible. The only way you can view is in real time or up to 8x but then you miss every 5 seconds. If someone is in your house it takes 5-10 minutes just to find them and by that time they are 5-10 minutes ahead of where you found them so you have to find them again and over and over. Even scrolling takes time to load so you can’t find people because you have to wait for it to load. Alerts don’t work nor do notifications. Basically if you have a home attack the police can review the video to help find who killed you. This is all scary stuff if you have the security cameras to defend your home. This product isn’t for you.
Great App-Again!. I generally don’t write reviews for any app. The update that was released about 2 weeks ago caused me to lose the ability to control the camera from my ipad. I am running a Hikvision PTZ camera through a Hikvision NVR. I never had a problem with either device. In my opinion,the image quality of the Hikvision camera is unsurpassed. I was really disappointed when this problem occurred. Within days, Hikvision released an update which corrected the problem. I am very happy that unlike a lot of developers that release updates and abandon them, these developers seem to be pro-active and worked quickly to resolve problems with the app.
Love it. I am in shock reading all of these negative reviews but I think I know why. People simply don’t know what they’re doing. Nest cameras are no comparison to Hikvision. If your speed is not fast enough then you can’t stream high resolution. There’s a reason why you setup dual streams. My Hikvision NVR and cameras have never once crashed on me. I thought I had a problem with my Hik-Connect cloud account disappearing randomly from my phone but that was user error. My wife was logging into her phone with my account instead of me sharing. I’ve setup my cameras using the device connection and I get almost an instant connection every time. I’ve spent many hours reading and playing with all my settings, adjusting bandwidth and fine tuning the camera settings and I love my system. If you don’t know how to properly set things up then the commercial Nest system is more for you. No comparison with all the functionality and saving to your own Hikvision NVR to Nest’s cloud storage which you constantly keep paying for and again gives you no functionality.
Auto connect to all devices feature - please restore. Please restore the auto connect to all devices to allow customers with multiple devices to scroll through all cameras/all devices without the need to manually select the device to view the cameras. It was removed on the last update. This was a great feature for customers with multiple devices. This feature is important for multi sites/devices. This is an advantage over other competitors and it’s a great feature. Please restore this feature. Other than that, we have no issues. Great app.

App is lacking some key functions. The camera i am currently using is HikVision DS-HD1 doorbell camera This app has some great feature But is lacking some of the setting I would like use like video ,image and audio settings as well as event play back settings The audio setting available is simply on and off I would like more control like adjusting sound volume and mic pick up range As for the video settings there is only a simple three toggle switch SD ,HD and Ultra HD I would like the ability to controls the exposure ,iso ,contrast ,ect The night vision settings are simply on and off I would like the ability to adjust the sensitivity Night vision looks good on my camera but it auto turns on about 30min to late So For about 30 min I have a mostly dark screen can’t identify any thing regardless of how close you are to the camera The 4x3 fish eye live view is great but when you play back an event for some reason the video is in 16x9 fisheye view which distorts the image by flattening it and there is no play back settings for adjustment
It’s Worth every Penny. I can’t get enough of my camera’s Now this system is not for the set it and forget minded. You will need good internet for offsite viewing and make adjustments to get what you want from it but, its loaded with options. It will take some walking away and coming back before you get it to taste however you will be happy in the end.
Good app that accesses my location data regularly.. I recently had to re-add a camera to the app, and so I enabled location data, which it requires to add. I forgot to turn the location data access off in Settings when I was done. When I went to do a privacy checkup, I noticed it had recorded my location about 15 times over the last week. I’m just wondering why it needs to know where I am while I check my doorbell camera. Makes me think twice about buying more HikVision gear. Also, I still really need Internet Explorer in 2022 to access the feed on a computer? What a joke.
Good function system. I have purchased a HIK camera and recording system for home and linking it to HIK connect application, using it for three months. The application is reliable and easy to use but not in the beginning for there is not intuitive function built in for the user. There is a significant learning on how to use what the application offers. This application is more geared for commercial use where persons are more experienced with security systems. Download the manual from the companies website for there are key learnings to get.
Since last update when i run the app it is (crash)!. Since last update when i run the app it go out (crash)! so i hope you have solution for that soon as possible. Generally the app is good but should be ( preset ) in PTZ control when i use 4g/5g ,because now preset jut work when i connect to the same wifi that Hik NVR is connected and use local network configuration , but when i am outside my home and use remote configuration thae preset not work with 4g/5g network.
Love the app but please ADD portrait support. I’m an avid supporter and user of Hikvision and use the Hik-connect iPad app extensively in all my installs. I’m the one issue is the lack of iPad portrait support or rotation. Many of the IPads are mounted in Portrait mode since many other apps and uses benefit front such setup and the lack of image rotation to view the cameras is a major drawback. Please add iPad rotation so we can view in Portrait / vertical iPad mounting. It would be immensely appreciated!!!!! Thank yiu
App promptly fixed. Thank you for promptly fixing the app through latest update. Though the previous loading screen freezes issue could’ve been avoided by thoroughly testing before making it public, I am satisfied to know that HIKVision takes user feedback in consideration quickly and ensures quick fix.
Bug fix & more options. The problem I’m having is when you view a single camera and set the HD to better picture, it goes away after I view the next full screen camera. It will not hold at HD... So when you view it in full screen again you have to set it to HD again. Needs to be fixed. We also need to be able to adjust the brightness and contrast. I hope this can be fixed. Other than that, it loads up fast. New update Nov 12, 2019 a little better but now in hd it goes into streaming and stuck at 60% you have to hit the clear button for it to come in.
Every update makes the app worse. I keep on making the mistake of updating this app. First, I could keep all of my cameras on HD. Yes, the cameras were choppy, but I prefer quality over quantity. Then an update made all cameras automatically display as Basic, and I then needed to set them to HD every time I switched cameras. So I tried contacting the company through the feedback feature in the app. No reply. Now, this most recent update only displays one camera and I must manually add each camera EVERY time I want to see my cameras. Close out of the app? Add each camera again. Maybe I want to multitask, and according to Hik-connect I lose connection for a bit? Oh, that's means I need to login again to Hik-connect, and I then need to add each camera, again. I can't view the cameras I have installed immediately when I need to. Please, change the app back to what worked before. This current version is not an upgrade. Ultimately, considering I bought my system to use on my mobile devices (like anyone else living in the 21st century), I would not recommend others buying Hikvision products until they fix the very methods you must employ to use those said products. A hi-def CCTV system is only worth buying if it's hi-def and a CCTV system. Not mobile friendly = not a CCTV system worth buying in my book. I'll wait to buy any more cameras (have 6, need 10 more) until this gets fixed.
iPhone App Playback Haphazard. Both my wife and I have the app on our iPhones and everything worked great before the recent app update/upgrade took place. Now we can’t playback consistently and our high speed fiber network is working up to par. The app keeps stating “Maximum playback channel limit reached.” Once in a while with persistent tries playback functions. I could complain about many other unacceptable changes in functionality, but haphazard playback is our biggest issue. We need playback for our security. We have HikVision systems in both our store as well as home. Someone obviously made app changes without having knowledge or experience in doing so!!! PLEASE FIX THE APP!!!
Needs support for shortcuts as soon as possible.. App works great, but I believe if support for shortcuts is implemented, actions could be done a lot faster. If we script shortcuts using Hik-connect, we could open doors at the push of a button or by asking Siri. (Instead of having to access the app and look for the device responsible, access it and activate the unlock function) Thank you
Excellent app. I couldn’t get the app to activate my camera, tried with web browser and changed it to DHCP and lost it. Fortunately the windows app found it and told me the new IP address so I could reserve it on my router. Once activated & registered the app found it no problem. Excellent video quality and very fast connection. Couple of suggestions: 1. Make it so I can scale the time bar in playback. Two fingers to pinch it so I can have precise control over the time. 2. My device is dual camera unit with 180° FOV. When viewing full screen the image is stretched. If I adjust the zoom to unstretched, I have black bar at top and bottom (letterbox). Thing is when I zoom in, the black bars stay there and cover about ½ the screen. Would be much better if can zoom into the letterbox to fill the whole screen with video.
Playback on the app is useless!. Cameras have great picture, live view works fine, but the whole reason for having security cameras is so you can easily playback recent events....not so with this app. Playback FAILS TO LOAD 95% of the time and even when it does you are stuck watching the video in real time i.e. no fast forward or rewind, to go forward or back wether a couple of minutes or 2hrs you have to move the slider which leaves you back with the fails to load problem. Unless you can sit an watch your cameras all day/night, or you happen to be really lucky checking them at the exact time something you need to see is happening, or if you have time to go sit at the base station(ff/rw feature works there) to review footage every time something happens then Don’t Waste Your Money On This System!!!
Bring back custom alert sounds. I used to be able to specify what sound to use for the built-in alerts. That capability went away a couple weeks ago and now the alerts sound is too quiet and my employees can’t hear it. We are missing line crossing alarms. Please allow me to customize the alert sound. Developer responded "You can modify the alarm audio by going to Me->Setting->Personal Device Notification->Alarm Audio Settings." That sounds awesome, except I don’t have “personal device notification“ under my settings tab
App sorely needs improvement. The iOS app is clunky at best. The UI is very poor and cumbersome. Calls come through like typical phone calls; however, accepting the call really does nothing. If the Call button is pressed and my phone is locked, it takes multiple steps to be able to fully answer the call and communicate with the caller. I have launch the app, tap a fingerprint icon (not really a Touch ID) in the center of the HV screen, perform a Touch ID, then touch the icon in the app associated with my camera, wait for the video to fully load and then touch the microphone icon. A lot of times, the process simply times out and the camera says “we are not available.” Good gracious, could it get worse?
They tell you to hire a technician to connect the app!!. The cameras are fantastic however the networking connection to the app is horrible. On top of that the customer service is rude. I asked them why they make the system so difficult to connect and their answer is that basically as an end user you should not be connecting the system to your network and Hik-connect app, as it is the job of a technician. I’m not sure why hik connect over complicates the set up Process. Why can’t they simplify or just spell out the process on the app instead of making you find some obscure menu on their web site to connect the system ? My cheap Arlo camera was a cinch to connect, I don’t see why Hik-Connect can’t make it easy., it’s not rocket science.
Unstable and often says device offline. I am not impressed at all. We had security cameras installed and specifically requested to be able to have remote access. The cameras are wonderful, but the remote access via this app has been very inconsistent and unstable. Initially we were getting a lot of “device offline” notices when we tried to access the cameras from a remote location. After talking to the security company It was explained to us that the cameras were working as expected, but that the instability was coming from the app itself. This problem seem to have been corrected after a short period of time with an update and then the most recent update that occurred a couple of days ago has been nothing but trouble again. It is been “device offline” ever since and there is nothing we can do about it. Not impressed And now we have a need that continues to be unmet. No remote access!
Horrible system and poor support from Adt.. We have 3 systems At home and 2 rental properties. We are unable to view all 3 on the hik app and the tech didn’t know how to fix problem. This is horrible. We wish we had bought Vivint. But Vivint is very expensive and we got tricked into signing a 5 year monitoring contract with Vivint. We don’t know what to do now. And don’t know who to call.
Not a pro app - downgrade from iVMS-4500. I have hundreds of Hikvision cameras installed for clients around the country and generally have at least 200 on each of my iPhones. iVMS could easily handle this and was a pro-grade app. I could make my own views and quickly organize and view cameras that I need to see and switch between playback and live view with efficiency, which is impossible now. Hik-Connect is a very consumer non-pro app and the layouts take up way too much space, like they are trying to copy Ring. Totally unacceptable for us professionals and might be the end of Hikvision for my company. We monitor cameras live and respond to security incidents real-time though the iVMS app and this will be impossible with Hik-Connect. Now we have hundreds of thousands of dollars into installs and we cannot do our job. Our customers are beginning to complain and some are demanding refunds because we can no longer offer what we promised. What a disaster. I will never forgive Hikvision for this madness and absolutely cannot trust this company. Whoever decided to delete iVMS should be fired!!! This app simply does not replace iVMS and they deleted iVMS from the App Store and it is impossible to load on any devices now. Absolutely unacceptable and irresponsible. With all of that said, if someone was a very very basic consumer, the new app can handle a couple cameras around the house more smoothly than iVMS, but it totally screwed us!
Absolute junk and outdated. There is no way to see when something happened. You have to pretty much scroll through the entire day to hopefully find what you were looking for. Any modern app show you what happened and when. Often you scroll to where you maybe think something happen, press play just to watch the playback stuck. This outdated and highly frustrating that in 2024 they can’t figure out how to design and make a proper security application work. The level of incompetence is baffling. The app update are telling of low level of application development care. Version 6.1.10 “some bug fixes.” What bugs??? Also have you ever considered putting a capital at the beginning of sentence? At least the bothered putting a period at the end of the sentence. This level of “I don’t give a bliiiip” clearly illustrates the level of care they have for what they do.

Recent update 5 days ago does not work on my iPad.. It works on my iPhone but not on my iPad. I cannot see any camera at all. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it worked but I lost a lost of videos and photos I needed. I had to wipe and restore my whole iPad to get the data back. So now I am wondering if I use the ‘OffLoad’ function in Apple to keep my data but in-install and re-install the app. Urgent help needed. Your App support does in the App Store does not work. Please update the app urgently and re-issue.
Great App, But could be better. This App works really well, the only missing component is the ability to fast forward/rewind with the playback option. Really frustrating to only be able to watch playback in realtime only. Surely this is a simple add on with next update.
Latest update. Since the latest update you can’t scroll through from the last camera across to the first camera have to go all the way back. For instance with 16 cameras used to be able to swipe left through all cameras then after 16 would start at 1 again now it stops, so have to scroll right through 16 cameras to get back to camera 1, very annoying and silly! Cameras still pick up birds as humans even on 15% sensitivity.
Needs basic features added. A lot of reviewers have mentioned the initial app home page shows the cameras with an old non-refreshed snapshot. At least give an option to load fresh snapshots when starting at the homepage, or better yet a live view option. Also, the Siri shortcuts and widgets really need added functions, they only have some alarm functions at the moment. Why not add the option to activate/trigger an intercom relay to open a door or gate with a widget or Siri shortcut?
Many features missing. The update is horrible. When you want to scroll through screens go from one camera to another you have to exit the screen you’re on to view the other cameras. You can’t simply swipe across. Also when you open the up it doesn’t refresh to current view. You can to go into each camera view and open it to refresh it. When your searching for time stamps and to go back on footage. You can’t manual put the time stamp you want to search, as we did previously. The new update isn’t user friendly at all.
Version of iPad/iPhones the live view works properly (without green screen pausing)?. Can anyone tell me the version of iPhones/iPads this app live streams video best without have the video image pausing and not actually seeing live motion (more like it’s stop motion)? Since a recent Hik-Connect App update, I’m told my older iPads/iPhones will experience video issues but I find this hard to believe. My iPhone is not that old (iPhone 8) and as far as I’m concerned the video stream and/or playback should be viewable. It’s not!
Latest version not running. Latest version of Hik-Connect 6 is stuck at the loading screen and unable to do anything. Re-installed the application and it only works for the first time and then back to stuck at the loading screen. Please fix it.
Pretty good app. I use it with my NVR and hik-connect wifi doorbell. However, where the iPhone version allows you to intercom to the doorbell, this version doesn’t seem to let you. Having intercom (ie answer a ringing doorbell ) on the iPad would be a great feature to add to my wall mounted iPad that has all my home automation and CCTV integrated... please include. Thanks.
Good program. Needs more updates. Overall stable . However could be evolved into a more intuitive program Getting better . Needs more advanced icons to select easier playbacks
Unable to Automatically Connect. The system is unable to automatically connect to the network after a system restart or power failure. A reboot of the whole system had to be done just to establish a connection. Imagine being away from home and having a short disruption of the mains power supply. There will be no way to know what is happening in your home and should there be a break in. You never be made aware.
Lack of notication customisation!. I use this app along with panic alarm necklaces, for my clinical staff. Every time the app updates, the notification changes. It used to also ring as a critical alert regardless of if a phone was on silent, but now it only rings if the phone is on ring (even with critical alerts enabled) and there is absolutely no customisation of the notification. I either get "Panic alarm activated" yelled at me, or a subtle ping, all of which defeats the purposes. There seems to be minimal customer support available to trouble shoot this.
My system. I have found it a great advantage!! I had previous attacks on my vehicle!! I now have the ability to view my property even when I am not at home!! I have the ability to download any problems that I have and hand them to The Police!! It’s a great system!!
Worst of its kind. If I could give this app zero stars, I would. The Hik-Connect app is an absolute disaster. While the system records on the base device, trying to playback those recordings on your phone is nearly impossible. We’ve spent countless hours troubleshooting, tried at least 10 different ways to make it work, and even involved network technicians—all to no avail. It’s beyond frustrating, especially when playback functionality is one of the core reasons for installing a surveillance system in the first place. To make matters worse, the app is riddled with poor usability, and no amount of tinkering seems to help. Avoid this app at all costs. If you’re considering surveillance options, I’d highly recommend looking into Eufy’s apps instead. They aren’t perfect, but compared to the dumpster fire that is Hik-Connect, they are leagues ahead. Save yourself the headache and go with a system that actually works.
It’s okay, could be better!. It’s okay! Firstly it’s expensive so you want it to be really easy to use and worth the money. I don’t understand why you can’t get notification for garage door reeders? Eufy do a cheap magnet that can notify through the app if a garage door is being opened or closed or left open. I don’t understand what’s the point in installing a garage door reed when it’s difficult to go into the app and see if it’s open or closed. This doesn’t help if you’re away and you want to get an instant app notification if a garage door has been opened or left open. Secondly, it’s hard to answer the intercom on the phone via the app because of the face authentication you have to go through first. By the time I can answer it, go through the authentication and then answer the intercom it’s a long time. I get it’s for security purposes but there should be a quicker way.
Completely waste of space this app is.. Disgusted along with everyone else for all the same reasons… connection fails all the time, playback never works and very disappointed for all the money spent on professional installation to be told the original app is no longer available and we are stuck with this rubbish…. Before getting professional cameras installed find out what app it works with and stay away from this one…. Get your act together hik-connect and do something about rectifying these issues with the app……😡🤬😡
Unreliable. When it’s working it’s great, then all of a sudden goes offline for weeks, Connected to video intercom system, and not reliable. Should be able to see who’s ringing intercom, should be able to open door from app but always offline. Try to reconnect, doesn’t work, then out of the blue will work again for a few weeks, then go offline.
Update please so Live view automatically shown when App opens. Works fine but please update the App so it automatically loads and displays live views of all the cameras when the App opens. Your old IVMS app did this. It’s annoying to have to tap the NVR icon each time I open the App. The discontinued IVMS app always showed the live view of all cameras when it was opened.
Does not work as it should. I have the latest iPhone and am on a 5g network and my app never works properly. It is allways jerky on hd mode it is forever dropping out and just is t user friendly compared to some of the other security camera brands that my friends have. I went with hik vision as I was told they were the best but we have been very disappointed so far. If anyone has any solutions to bypass all this I would be very grateful.
Where’s the Preset Function?. I like the revised PTZ UI, having the PTZ tracking control and zoom function on the same screen allows for better tracking/zoom coordination/speed. However the ability to select a pre-defined preset position appears to have been removed with this new update? Can it please be reinstated as it’s useful to return the PTZ back to a pre-defined position especially when using auto-tracking. Thank you.

Live stream times out at 5 minutes. App was brilliant as you could live stream the video indefinitely now it cuts out at 5 minutes and you have to click to reopen to start live view again making it useless if your wanting to watch for visitors, deliveries or anything happening live that you want to keep an eye on. I invested in this system at my business and home specifically for the continuous live view. Sort it out please!
Broken. Version 6.0.0 I’m not sure what passes as testing at Hikvision, but this latest version is nothing but an absolute disaster! It freezes randomly, the PTZ option now shrinks the screen down (why?) and the PTZ presets are not completely missing!! If a single camera is offline, the whole app freezes and just displays a black screen with no way to back out. If this is the best that Hikvision can do, I will be forced to look elsewhere for camera and recording hardware. Absolutely shocking for a larger company. Fix it or find somebody who can!
Needs improvement to motherboard ,camera and App. It functions as a traditional CCTV well but much of the touted smarts about recognition of human vs animal false trigger hasn’t materialised. Still doesn’t accomodate app to camera connection to allow 2 way communication via Gen 2 IP cameras. The main competitor “Ring” camera and app for outdoor surveillance is better in distinguishing human vs false animal triggers and also allow smooth 2 way communication. No Avenue of switching on or off the motion triggers via App which makes it much poorer in functionality than “Ring”! On the whole it more expensive , poorer function and haven’t deliver the smarts that it supposed to. Have it 3 star as I hope an upgrade of firmware will fix the IP camera and app. In truth only deserves 2 star at the moment.
Indication of sliding gate being closed or open..?. I have just had my Hikvision gate camera intercom and door controller just installed(yesterday!)… but after operating from away via the internet and my wifi i realise i have no way of telling if the DEA gate is closed, partly open or fully open. All actions To operate the gate are labelled “open gate” even when its fully open and i wish to close it. Have i missed something or is there a setting to help me..?
Okay... but few settings. Positives - the app is mostly stable, and fast to get to an image of a camera (1 or 2 seconds). It’s faster than desktop software, which is junk slow (sometimes 30 seconds wait!) Negatives - you can’t set basic settings such as motion sensitive setting for a camera, and sometimes if you’re not careful it keeps running in the background when phone closed, and flattens your battery and chews all your data
FANTASTIC APP!. For the past one year I have been using HIK-Connect and not once have I encounter a problem. This app works smoothly and I am very pleased with this service. However, the Playback system in my opinion should be updated due to only holding 2 day's worth of footage, overall fantastic app.
Doorbell feature needs stability. The doorbell rings through iPhone like a phone call which is great, but when answering the call I cannot speak or hear the visitor, then when clicking through into the Hik app, it doesn’t take me directly to the doorbell view, then when I do go into the intercom screen and press the voice button, it always says operating failed unless I quit the app and start again.
OK, but not great. If I had looked carefully into the app I probably wouldn’t have invested in this product and may not do so next time unless it improves. the app is okay but not great not particularly user-friendly. You cannot move the cameras or devices up and down the menu. They appear in the order in which they were installed and cannot be changed for more frequently used to be at the top. There’s no homepage with hot button options to house frequently used actions which means to do things like opening garage door it takes many clicks to dig into the app to find the right button. It would also be handy to be able to choose the display icons to use for elements such as arm or disarm the alarm because the pictures are not particularly easy to read. Even if there were options to say words such as arm and disarm would make it much easier to use on a daily basis. Please redesign the app to be more user friendly.
Terrible app - playback non existent. Clearly the people that have given this app 5 stars have a different app or software as this is atrocious. The whole idea of having cameras is so that you can view playback if needed. Playback doesn’t work, I have high speed nbn yet every single time I want to playback from my phone or iPad I get a message saying failed connection. The previous software I had put this one to shame. Unfortunately it is no longer available. I would never recommend this app to anyone. There is no support whatsoever. Waste of money setting up cameras if using this app. It must have been set up by someone who doesn’t want to get caught doing something bad on camera because if you can’t watch playback they can’t be caught!
No playback of daylight video. The app does not playback any daylight video which is useless. It will playback all night footage which is black and white no problems at all. It will show live stream which is in Color no problems at all. But as soon as you try to playback any colour daylight video it gets hung up and won’t show anything. Frustrating is an understatement!! C’mon guys please fix this. You have known about this for a long time now!
Very poor App. Considering how big Hikvision are as a CCTV manufacturer, how can they have an app for their products at a version 6 and still have such a poor app? Limited functionality (the notifications don’t even have a thumbnail in 2026 for crying out loud like very other camera maker out there!!), terrible UI, convoluted menus with many duplicate menus, hard to navigate, live view times lit after just 5min!! You can tell how little effort goes into this app that they don’t even support dark mode in the app! Go see Unifi Protect to learn how to build a CCTV app (even Eufy and Reolink do it much better)
Update and now not working. Just did an update on the app on November 11, 2023. And now the app just opens up and freezes at the title screen. Looks like someone has stuffed something up. Can you get your tech boys working on it as soon as possible? I need to be able to access my cameras remotely. When it’s working, it’s a great app.
Poor app, disappointing. This app needs a good update and look over. This app has always played up, connected then it’s not connected over the last 2 years, and now the last week when we have checked it, again it will be offline when we have been out, with wanting to check it prior to us going away, as soon as we are home and connected to our home wifi it will work, but without the wifi connection it will not with mobile data, we have tried again when out to connect to another wifi connection but it doesn’t work, seems the app will only work at home with the home wifi connection, what is the point of that, it is supposed to give you peace of mind when you are not home, let alone all the other bugs with playback, this app needs THOROUGH shake up, or people will slowly start opting for other camera options.
New update has problems playback too slow. I had older version and every site I playback was smooth. Other people complain and about the problem and I updated the app. I experience the problem now, playback images skipped and jumped. Please fix it
New update is terrible. I’m not sure what, if any, improvements were made in the latest edition but it seems like I’ve lost the ability to do virtually everything i could in the earlier version. When I click a notification it doesn’t automatically open the video clip and play it. When I open the app I can’t just simply scroll through my cameras for a quick check. It seems I need to open each one individually. Frankly it’s a dog’s breakfast!
More Features Needed. For the most part it is a good, easy app especially since most settings can FINALLY be adjusted or changed via the app so I don’t need to contact my service provider for the smallest of changes. One significant thing that definitely needs to happen is an option to have different notification schedules and alerts for different cameras, not one schedule for multiple cameras.
This app needs fixing. This app is repeatedly disconnecting my mobile data connection Only when loading a video stream works for a short while then stops aeroplane mode needs to be cycled for data to return
Worst updates on earth. Before app update I had no issues receiving intercom calls on my phone when someone rang the door but now my intercom doesn’t ring on mine or my wife’s phone. This has happened multiple times when we have updated our app and the whole point of buying the intercom was to get notifications on our phone and to answer the door using our phones. Now that function is gone once again. Should have bought the ring intercom. DO NOY UPDATE YOYR APP OR IT WILL STOP WORKING.
Zoom in quality low. This app was updated to a new interface a few months ago and since then, the video quality when zooming in has been horrendous. Not sure if anyone else is aging this issue but it was never a problem under the old version. The old version was better in many ways
Have to keep reinstalling. Since the latest update my cameras do not remain visible in the app and the only way I can get them back is to keep reinstalling the app which is very frustrating. Not sure why this would be happening as I have had the app for a while now. The app is unreliable and clunky. Please fix it.
Don’t Don’t Don’t buy this!. What a waste of money this is. We installed approx 18 months ago via a qualified provider and have had nothing but problems. We have been unable to playback any videos for weeks now, with the installer no longer responding to contact. Do not waste your money on this system. Anything has got to be better than this rubbish. It’s so bad that I felt compelled to write my first App review. Hopefully it makes at least one consumer rethink their purchase.
There has to be better?. I am currently trapped in my room because I can’t turn off alarm system using the phone app. Locked out of my account while I was asleep . Phone app won’t reset and won’t let me in. Service provider is the only one who can reset it. Have to go trigger alarm , wake up the hrighborhood now and see if the faulty keypad will work this time. Make sure you have a magnifying glass to read the keypad too!
You have got to be kidding me!. Avoid at all costs! Where to start. Terrible UI that would have still been terrible 20 years ago. Unable to make any reliable remote connection to cameras. Works fine when I’m on the same network but that isn’t really the point is it? Significant security issues (HackVision is a term I’ve heard). Overall a massive steaming pile of.... After much effort I’m now giving up on it and flushing several $1000 down the toilet and getting something that works. The other issue here is how the heck does this get 4+ stars. Shows how easily industry can corrupt the process as there is now way real punters have given that vote.
The new 6.0 release today is broken. Looks like the latest update as of 11 Oct 2023 is broken. My cameras slowly load to about 85% and then hang. No issues from my PC, and it worked about an hour ago on my phone before this update :(
Update killed the app. The latest update dated 11 Nov has killed app causing it to freeze on the initial load screen. Restarting the phone and manually closing the app does not fix the issue. Update 13/11: a revised update was conducted and rectified the failing to load issue. I’ve upgraded my review to 3 stars. Implementing the ability to re-order the cameras on the home screen would warrant an additional star!
Need to delete and reinstall app too often. Not so happy with my purchase of cameras, or is it just the app that is to blame? The feed is good if I’m at home, but if I get a notification that somebody has entered my property while I’m out I try to connect and it fails to every single time. Also I need to keep deleting this app off my iPad at least once a month, because it fails, it won’t turn around on my iPad to view correctly, I always need to turn the iPad upside down to view my feed the correct way. It must be a problem with the app, because all my other apps work correctly. Fix a few of these bugs and I will really enjoy it.
Two way Audio failed to connect. This app used to work fine for around 2 months, but after the recent update, the two-way audio feature for the Hikvision doorbell stopped connecting. I've tried multiple times, but it's still not working. I've called their support line 10 times, but each time I'm put on hold for an hour, and when I finally get to speak to someone, they disconnect the call. The customer service is terrible, and the doorbell is useless. I'm considering switching to a better option.
Horrible, clunky no support function. Where do I start. This is horrendous. I'm really peeved I've spent thousands on professional installation of hard wired quality cameras only for this clunky app to be what's handed over effectively preventing me accessing all features & full functionality they can provide. I can't set perimeters, alarms, activate web feed, remote control. Even after downloading the GUI, trying to go in via web I still can't activate. The website is even worse, dated, clunky and cluttered like grannys overstuffed closet made of archaic dated technical BS. Did the tardis slip back to 1990 and I missed it?!? But apparently I got the new & improved software! Appallingly no access to support with the hope of trouble shooting to get it up and running. Totally unacceptable given many of us have paid for professional licensed installation & quality cameras to avoid the cheap diy trap that this is clearly targeted at.
Pretty useless. It does not allow to keep the interface for all cameras, each time when I open the app I have to open and program 12 cameras to the 12 window interface. It does not retain the format. This does not allow cameras form two regions on the app. You have to keep 2 phones or log in with a different account, ridiculous! It does not allow continuous viewing, it turns off in couple of minutes. Replay function not working. Cameras max 3-4 years then you start seeing the smoky appearance and you need to replace whole lot. Next time I ll go for a different option.
Yuk!. Like so many others here I’ve spent a lot of money and whilst I’m sure the hardware is good quality and was fitted by professionals the software is dreadful! I had no idea about security cameras and trusted that the people I signed up with knew what they were doing. I had no idea that this software was such an integral part! Didn’t know enough to ask how I should and could view playback... I wanted to be able to view this on a larger screen while at home- To send the images to the TV for example but no, none of that is possible! I can only see it on my iPhone and I was told to buy an iPad (yet more expense) so that I can watch it on a larger screen! In addition, whilst prior to the installation the company I signed up with were awesome, & very helpful, since the installation they have been dismissive of my questions and in fact quite rude. So much so that I removed my initial review! I’m sure there are other people like me have no idea and I can only suggest to people they ask about the software before they go buying CCTV at great expense! I wish I’d gone DIY at half the cost!

This app is awesome. Responsive and easy to use. I like how it makes it so EASY to see motion recordings by camera, time and date. Really well thought out.
Not Working After Update. Not sure what you guys did but the system shows “offline” after your latest update. Also, the playback is slow and not smooth. Fix it please!

Camera works when it wants to. The app works when it wants to and it much slower now. Please update it and fix as many bugs. The reaction time is very slow especially panning cameras

What happened!. This app was so good. Since this new update I can’t do playback half the time it gives an error ‘maximum channels reached’. What is this nonsense? Please fix asap or I’ll be moving to another app.
Illegal Login. I am trying to change my password as I keep getting illegal logins notifications. But it keeps telling me that the new password is wrong even if I respect all the criteria’s! Please fix it as soon as possible.

Camera on app doesn’t work after update. I usually don’t write reviews but after I updated the app a few months ago, the cameras became ‘offline’. I tried to troubleshoot it and it said something about gateway parsing failure so I assume something in the code changed so it can’t parse the information. Went to the website and it said my camera is outdated and no longer supported. Are you kidding me? I just installed this last year and it’s already outdated and you won’t be supplying fixes? Now I have a camera that doesn’t work and their troubleshooting guide isn’t helpful. I tried sending a message and no response from them (this was months ago). This is beyond disappointing.
Yikes. This doorbell goes offline often, it no longer notifies my phone, and it no longer rings in the house! Literally does not work at all anymore. It has only been installed a year in a brand new home! Disappointed and frustrated!
Fix the app!. V6.10.822 iOS 26 Please fix the slider playback. When sliding backwards for a few seconds, video keeps playing current footage. You really need to slide back in time for it to go backwards.
Recorded Events. Used to be able to clear all recorded event at one time. Now have to do individually. Big step backwards.

Always says offline on my iPhone.. Recently every time I access the videos through my iPhone, it says it’s offline. This never happens before. I tried googling the issue and it seems others are experiencing the same. Any solutions to this issue!?
Fix PTZ controls. Please place the zoom controls on the left side of the screen when the pan/tilt is on the right side while the phone is in landscape mode. PTZ controls are almost useless if you can pan and tilt but have to go into a submenu to access zoom.
Version 4.15 NVR reboot issue. When you open your nvr cameras on the app, it forces a reboot on the NvR. Please resolve this issue. Version 4.15 is causing the issue
Keyboard Not Working. This app is full of bugs. I cannot type password when prompted because keyboard dont shows up
Roll back. Please roll back to previous version. This new one is lagged badly (so slow compared to previous) and always defaults to device view and not group view as it used to.
Slowest security camera app.. Worst security app there is. Nothing works when i need it. Theres someone at my house i need to see who it is, this slow app prevents me from seeing. Takes 5 minutes to open up one camera. Worse part is, when i need to see a playback, the useless recordings opens up, but then when I actually need the useful ones, it decides its not gonna let me. Fix your app.
No delete. There is no delete button to remove a device I just added. I was unable to access the device and temporarily locked out but still accessible through web server.
Unintuitive. Easily one of the worst cctv apps i’ve ever used.
Lags and playback difficulties. We have used this app for a few years and it just gets slower and slower. By the time the app shows the live picture what you were hoping to see is gone. The playback may or may not be there and it can be difficult to find anything on it.
Video playback. You did fix the initial playback after iOS 26, but it looks like once you scroll forward, you can no longer scroll back a few minutes. You have to scroll all the way back to the start of the day and then try to scroll forward to the time you wanted.
Not good. Literally the worst. Playback lags or says network is unstable. It’s not we run intensive programs. This app is a piece of trash and so is the hardware. Replacing it with something else.
Lagging BIG TIME. I don’t know what you guys have done to this app but this makes viewing playback so awful now. Please fix this issue. It’s not the cameras or our equipment as when I go directly to the monitor it plays back fine. This is an APP issue. Please fix it!

Too slow to load. There appears to have been an update a few weeks ago and since then, when I start the app on my phone it takes almost a minute to load. Doesn't seem like much but in the night when I hear noises outside I need to see quickly what's happening.

6.10.820 is buggy. Don’t upgrade to 6.10.820. Playback scrolling does not work. Fortunately they released a fix within 36 hours.
Issues after every update. The app is great except after each update the app can no longer be viewed by multiple people at the same time. Happens after every update and is very frustrating
Not good. Despite the new update, still facing the same issue. Unable to see the HD view.
iPad issue display. The new application layout does not fit all windows properly on an iPad because the menu on the top takes space. Window layout 4 has the bottom camera view cutting the images.
Terrible system. Terrible system, my system is only few years old. Shut down at cottage and restarted spring. However can’t view on my IPHONE anymore. Tried working with their customer service but no luck. They weren’t much help. They just emailed link to their site and said your on your own. Big help.
Laggy garbage. Used to work fairly well. Now, after the update it’s buffering 99% of the time. Useless now. I’ll be replacing my cams with another system.

Avoid. Review for Hik-Connect Expect to see “Network is unstable. Connecting again...” a LOT, despite having an extremely fast, reliable connection. Many people report this same problem. My security system provider now admits the app is crap, and the whole system is flaky and hard to work with, but apparently the cameras are good. I would never have gone with this system if I knew how inconsistent and unreliable it would be. Absolutely avoid, and find something better.
Network unstable. Network is always unstable and your are not able to view anything live, pretty much useless app to not be able to view cameras live….
Takes too much of phone storage. Hey, this app takes 20GB of my phone storage, I removed all the personal album and events, but it doesn’t affect the storage at all. How do I remove the data and just keep the app

App is unreliable. The app keeps Telling me the cameras are offline but when I look at the monitor in the house they all work. It does that a lot very annoying. You need to fix this

I dont have the free time to watch 48 hours of weekend footage in real time to see when someone came to case our place for a break-in but chose the neighbour’s house! why is this not available to use???!!!
Window layout. Hi Team Everything is good except window layout. I am trying to run all camera on same time on phone screen but window layout allow me to only 1,4,9,12,16 and I have 6 cameras total and three remain empty. It seems waste of screen. Please allow me to custom window layout. Thanks

App only in horizontal view on iPad. Fir whatever reason app only works in horizontal view on iPad. It’s vertical on iPhone but only horizontal on iPad. So if you have vertically wall mounted iPad, good luck. Also app has strange interface. Different access and setup when on wifi in the house and separate for remote access And you need multiple passwords for different things. Overall, very “patchy” approach.
Epic failure. This is the worst app update in the history of all apps. The new version is completely unusable. On the iPad I literally have to sign in with my password every single time I enter the app. Here on the phone it uses Face ID, but from there on it gets infuriating. You can build your camera layout screens, but don’t bother; they’ll be gone the next time you change screens. And you’ll have to start over. I can’t possibly fathom how this made it past any sort of QA testing. If I could rate this negative twenty stars, I would.
Not easy to use. System has a difficult time in the play back mode. As a matter of fact I have yet to successfully get video retrieved. There must be a simpler more responsive app . Too bad because the camera and video quality is superb for residential use. Hope I never have to provide law enforcement or insurance companies any proof or video evidence for any reason. Such an expensive system to have such a simple function not work or be so unreliable.
Frustrating. The app works for live view but the playback is a lottery on if it will actually work or say my network is unstable. This is whether or not I am on cell or the same wifi network the nvr is hardwired on. I can massage it along at about 5 min increments but after about 20 min of trying to get it to work, it gives me network unstable and I have to start over. Sorry, I like my Nest product better. It had a fee but worked correctly.
Broken More Things. Todays update stated “Fixed Some Things”. After updating I cannot get in at all now. It reads my facial ID upon login then locks up on the initial HIK-Connect 6 splash screen. I cannot go any further. I deleted the app, reinstalled, configured and it let me in one time during config. I closed the app and attempted to relaunch and the same thing happened. Is this app being tested before release? Please help as I can get in and view my cameras at all now. If it helps I’m using an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Thank you for your attention in this matter!
Account disappears when I move from home to work and vice versa. When I move my IPad from my work to my home and vice versa, my HIK account disappears. When I open the app, there is a brief flash on the screen and my account disappears. I cannot see my cameras again, even though i am still logged in. I have to delete the app from my ipad and reinstall the app from the app store and log back in. Then this will happen again when I leave my location. This is a big headache. Can someone please help me?
Previous Version Better. They did an update about two months ago to try to “improve “their product, Now you have to go through 2 to 3 steps to get to the camera you need to view. So if you have an alarm event you have to spend more time going through the app to find out what the alarm is for. Sometimes you can just be too smart for your own good.
Fairly worthless system.. Cameras will detect motion creating a record of the event on the NVR and sending an alarm. Sensitivity can be set using a grid which is needed to stop alarms created from flying and crawling insects. Problem is bugs fly and crawl close to and onto the cameras all the time especially at night. No way to avoid numerous false alarms making this feature worthless. The system was installed by the people that sell it. I have a fast internet with no issues with it or any other apps. With Hik Connect I often have one of the cameras that won’t load image or play back instead I get network unstable message. This has required the installers to come out here to fix it. As far as I know there isn’t a way for me as a casual user to fix this problem. System is not worth what I paid for it. Disappointed.
recent update. The recent app update has something very wrong tap on one camera it takes 2 to 5 seconds for it to respond swiping left and right from Camera to Camera same thing the app was fine for three years if it's not broken don't fix it !! now it's broken!! you tech people and programmers need to stop trying to improve all you do is screw it up leave stuff alone when it works don't mess with it, in other words "put it back the way it was"!!
Audio port in the back of NVR. I use the hikvision system for security in my laundromat, I also use the audio port on the back of the NVR, which is plugged into an amplifier and into speakers, I used to be able to talk to customers through the hikvision app, with the latest update I cannot do this function anymore on my iPad or iPhone. The camera system has been great other than this issue. Very frustrating as this is a very important piece of my security.
Awesome security!. I love this security camera and app! It’s easy to use and quite intuitive. I have had so many incidents of vandalism before getting the camera, actually think just having it deters vandals. If they do try something...I’ll know who did it and can use the footage to contact the police! Yay!
Return de icon for Speed up the recording. Why did they remove the option to speed up the recording in the playback menu? It was a very useful functionality, so when you want to search for an event you are forced to see everything in real time, and it is a waste of time
Finally. Took a long time to work out the bugs but now that is solved…Wow. Amazing and trouble free. Truth is small town internet issues and power failures were the culprit. Once the system had good battery back up and internet became reliable works flawlessly
Keep saying network is u stable. Every time I go to playback on both of my cameras it keeps saying that the network is unstable trying to reconnect even when I am hooked up to my own Wi-Fi the app was pretty easy to navigate and the NVR is very easy to work once you get the hang of it but I am not happy with the app it is very hard to configure and it is very hard and frustrating for it not to connect on a playback
It just works. Never have a problem connecting, whether in my own network or remotely. This is the best app I have ever used for security cameras. When anything is breached, the videos are immediately delivered and ready for viewing. There is not much to write because I don’t have any complaints. No hiccups. It just works.
Cannot access remotely. I did the settings while I was at home, and It worked fine!! In fact the app works good and the image is with good quality. The issue comes when you update the app, the you have to re do your configurations, but when you are away it could be an issue.... it will be great if the app does not erase the configurations so you do not have to do it again!
Customer friendly. We use this for doorbell and cameras. When you go to playback we can’t speed up 2x or 4x we have to watch in real time. Same with door camera. No way to speed up to check for activity or when something happened unless you can watch literally 8 hours of night for 8 hours.
Great app but improvements needed. The app is the best of the Hikvision apps I have found for good full screen viewing but they need to make the camera labels on the live view screen fully transparent (or not have them at all) instead of a dark black bar blocking the bottom 10% or so of the live camera view. Hikvision, please do something to that camera label bar so I can see more of the screen.
play back on hik connect. Everything was fine until a few weeks ago. When you do play back, it keeps coming up multiple channels reached unable to play back. This has been an ongoing problem. I reached out to my distributor and he said it is an issue within the app of HikConnect and he hast to contact hikvision and we are waiting for an update that seems like it's never going to come as anyone else come across this issue? any help Will be appreciate it.
Awful. This app is awful it’s always showing offline. I called the company who installed the camera & stated this app would work. I deleted the app several times and reinstalled but that does not work either! I am so disgusted with the system because when it was sold to me they bragged on how you could monitor your home when you are not home was just a lie because the app never works. It’s so sad how I spent all this money for something that does not work as described & I can get no one to fix the problem!
I can’t playback ever.. Every time I attempt to playback even from just 30 min ago. It loads up to 97% and then implies the device is not connected to the network. I don’t understand this. I can watch the live feed just fine. I have 16 cameras I use to monitor my store and they’re useless unless I’m watching them live. If I could of rated this app 0 Stars I would of. I wish I could switch providers but alas, it is out of my hands. Thank you for making my job hard HikConnect. I will be complaining to my directors about this and hopefully they make the switch to someone else. I don’t appear to be the only one having these issues or complaints. I just had something happen at my facility and I can’t even go back and look at it to provide the info to the authorities. Thanks a lot.
Make device list shorter. Speaking of the iPad app...Having the expanded view of the devices does not allow a person with many sites/NVR’s to find an unit quickly. The phone app has a condensed view that can be expanded and then a view that is already expanded. Other than that things are going fine with the app.
When it works.. The app works great I can watch my home while I’m at work. I can do play back to see when things come to my house. It all worked great. My problem is their are times and when I say times I mean weeks that when I check the app it will say off line. Did did find that if I reset my WiFi I can see everything but when I check again later everything is off line again
Doesn’t respect dark mode now. The change to a bright white background is incredibly disappointing here. Videos should always be on a dark background so you can up your device brightness and be able to catch details in the video capture, but with this overly white interface, it’s impossible not to be blinded by your phone when you set the brightness higher. What are we supposed to do, lower the brightness, select the video, then raise the brightness back up? How did this ever pass testing at Hikvision? It’s now as poorly designed as the Wyze app.
Good so far. Download, installation and setup was quick and easy although I could only find this version through Safari on my devices. My camera images load much faster. I haven’t tried the playback feature yet. Hopefully that was improved also. So far I am very happy with this version.
iPhone 15 hanging issue. After updating my iPhone 15 to iOS version 17.1.1 couldn’t open the app, so deleted and worked only for one time only and every time I’ve to do the same. Please upgrade to be compatible with iPhone latest update. Thanks
Why such a big Camera Number Banner while on playback?. In this last update every time I play back recorded video I see this huge banner on top of screen and with the bottom one together half of the screen is gone and I have to re-click on screen to get full screen to be able to see my playback video. Can you remove it I already have my camera number on the screen. Thank you
Push notifications don’t work. Live view and playback work great. Push notifications previously worked but no longer work (stopped after recent update). When going to the app all notifications are present, but badge apps have disappeared and push notifications no longer work. For a surveillance camera getting live push notifications consistently is a large reason I bought a hikvision NVR. Without push notifications almost makes system useless for remote monitoring.
Limited user connections. The app limits the amount of connections for the doorbell cam. You are only allowed 3 connections at any given time. If you add the doorbell cam to your not it counts as 1 leaving you with 2 feeds left. Add the iVMS-4500 you are now only have 1 feed. So now I have multiple users that have access to the app who cannot view any video. This is just not accessible. Hikvision better address this problem quickly. I just might solve a lot of connection issues people have had and think it’s a network problem.
Options for motion detection. The app is good and user friendly. However, one important element is missing: disable motion detection for separate cameras. Now, it is possible either to enable motion detection for all or disable for all. It would be really useful to be able to have motion detection enabling for each camera. Hope it comes with the next update
Not very Impressed.... Hik cameras are ok, but their NVRs are archaic. The app regularly will give a notification and then refuse to show the clip for several minutes even with a really fast connection. The notification badge on the app gives meaningless counts like 88 events, then when opening the app and refreshing (why do I have to refresh, it should know to do so upon opening) it will have 2 events!
Not bad, needs improvement. Hik Connect (HC) is improvement on 11 month older Hik Vision iVMS 4500 lite. Hope HC will update frequently, weekly/monthly, unlike the yearly or longer wait for other Hik apps. Please Hik, please add real world practical features, such as: 1. NOTIFICATIONS per cam! with Hik recorder at 16 cams, imagine getting 250+ notifications daily! this way you can turn Notification on specific cams on/off! 2. TURN ON/Off individual CAMS. in case you are not traveling/out & do not want your privacy, if every room has cams, to be disturbed. or in case there is a spiderweb on cam hogging all VCR recordings! 3. Allow Notifications per eMAIL and/or sms and/or screen, give choice. 4. SEARCH notification videos by cam to avoid 100s/1000s to scroll through. 5. RENAME CAMS in/from app thank you
Event/motion playback only needed. So far so good, I haven’t had any issues. The app does need an event only playback. You miss a lot by not being able to view just event than playing back 24hrs straight of recording and looking for an event yourself. Too time consuming Many other apps offer it. I don’t know why this one doesn’t. Please add an event only playback on the app
Needs a lot of improvement. This is the app that our ADT camera system links to. Its so bad when it comes to syncing, our camera are working perfectly fine on monitor but the app never works. Sometimes it work if you uninstall and reinstall or logout & login. But sometimes it would just not work. We have them at our bussiness and this hs turned out to be Seriously worst app for camera watching. Like the whole point of installing high definition camera system by ADT is to receive real time footage of your house or bussiness.
Move feedback to different screen. 1. In new version app Feedback is taking half of the page in messages section. Please move it to different page 2. We use message notification section a lot to see previous activities. It would be good if we can filter it by days. To see previous days notifications I have to scroll all the way till yesterday and two days old it’s very difficult to scroll. Else it’s the best app and product.
Run as fast as you can. Do not purchase this security system and then this app. This is the worst purchase I have made for my boutique by far. The cameras NEVER EVER WORK. I can’t watch anything on this app. I have spent countless hours on the phone going back and forth with ADT. I am locked into a 3 year contract for this garbage. I have bought an Arlo system and it fabulous! And I don’t pay a fee each month to NOT watch what’s going on inside my store. Please I’m telling you, run as fast as you can when the ADT guy comes knocking!!!!!!!!
Thanks for fixing!. This app does what it needs to do for live camera viewing and for easy playback. I like the easy set up and controls. Overall it’s easy to use and I’d recommend it as long as they keep up with the updates!
Love this app. I just love this app, easy to use, the most user-friendly app I’ve seen. Only feature I think it’s missing and would be most useful to have, is to be able to scroll on videos while being able to see the image, because as it is now, you have to jump from scene to scene, which causes you to miss a lot of the video that could be crucial.
Awful. I didn’t want to write a review but it seems there is no other way to express my frustration I have this system installed in 2017 and since then using the app EVERY TIME I USE IT FAILS. Right now im on vacation and wanted to check how everything back home, trying to connect to the system over wifi and it doesn’t work again and again! Rare times i was able to have a quick look what’s going on at our 4 cams but the was rather an exception Terrible awful app Looking to change the whole thing including that app
Lost ability to swipe from the last camera to the first.. It seems on the last few releases, we lost the ability to swipe from the last camera to the first. That usually gets fixed, but the issue is back again. Hopefully you can fix it soon. Otherwise, I’m very happy with the functionality of the app.
***Update fixed bugs- Thank you! Upgrade caused app to fail and NVR to co start reboot. **** New Update Fixed my connection issues - Thank you!!!! New update will not allow connection to cameras and it continuously cycles the NVR. PLEASE PROVIDE ANOTHER UODATE TO FIX THE BUGS! Cannot use ANY of my cameras for over a week now.

The worst! They’re capthcha security on the app won’t let you in. If you’re paying attention to this HIK Dash connect. Send me your email address and I’ll send you the video I took with my phone! I set up an account and have been using it until it stopped working. So I decided to delete the app and reinstall it and change the password, but I can’t get past CAPTCHA in order to use the app again. I’ve tried 20 times and the app just won’t let me in. It’s very buggy.
Ugh.. This software is awful, and is basically unusable for security. Last night someone rifled through our neighbors’ cars and attempted ours, but there is no way to search for a motion event. In addition to that, there aren’t any fast forward/rewind options to quickly jump through recorded video. There is only one scrolling time bar across the bottom of the screen that you fat finger into approximately the right general minute of footage, and there isn’t a way to skip forward/back 15 seconds, etc. It’s just so terrible. I am calling our security company whom installed it first thing in the morning.
Playback bug in latest versions. Within the last two weeks, my iPad app can no longer scroll backwards in time past the midnight hour of the current day inside of the Playback function. For instance at 1am, I can only scroll backwards 1 hour, and at 12 noon, I can only scroll back 12 hours. Previous to these updates I could scroll back for weeks of time. Now I can not even reverse to the previous day.
Most recent bug fix caused another bug. The live view cameras, multiple camera views, used to allow the cameras to be viewed in a specific order. After the most recent update, no matter how the cameras are added and viewed, when the app is closed and reopened, the cameras are in a different order when viewing in the multiple camera view. We use the 9 camera view. The 4 camera view is also affected by this most recent bug.
A little unhappy. The system has not worked since I’ve really had it. Sometimes it does sometimes it don’t .can’t do playback it’s very slow skips time that won’t do anything at all. Can’t get anyone to answer the phone when I call I really need help thank you Linda
Great app. I love this app on my iPad, but I need it on my phone. GalaxyZ fold. In the Google play store, it is not available in my area. I had it on my last Galaxy phone. Just wondering why now I can't get it on my new phone. I don't carry my iPad around all day. I need the app on my phone, too. Help!
Fast Forward. The App is Great. I have been using it for over one year now. It has all the functionalities at your fingertips but the capability of viewing playback at Fast Speed or Fast Forward has been eliminated after a few updates ago. Please add it back as it is a time saver. Why was it removed?
Functional but missing features and dumbed down. Now that IVMS-4500 is unavailable my customers must install this to view their cameras. Gone is the ability to access presets on a PTZ camera or trigger the output on a dome to open a gate. You cannot setup a page of cameras from different locations on one screen. This app doesn’t crash like IVMS-4500 used to but it’s far less functional. Taking features away is sure to upset customers. Please restore the functionality of the previous app.
