I rarely write reviews. But this is a pretty good app. The developer is also very active on the radarforums which shows interest in continuing improvements for the app. The default numeric settings are done right and have logic behind them, they’re also adjustable if desired.

V1 Driver: A Review. You may be wondering if this app worth ten bucks.... and the answer is... YES. I recently updated one of my V1s and purchased a V1C-LE module to connect it to my iPhone... little did I know, the stock V1 app left A LOT to be desired. Honestly, I was quite dissapointed in it... In my other vehicle, I had dabbled with YaV1 a time or two when a friend let me use his V1C to setup my custom sweeps, but I didn't like the idea of running two phones in my car... since I am primarily an iPhone user. I highly reccomend this app as it provides pretty solid GPS LOCKOUTS, voice alerts for what Ka frequencies you're being hit with, and Savvy emulation. I really hope Mr. Mills will continue to add features and update functionality as time goes on.. hopefully at a faster rate than VR!

overpriced. I can’t believe I seriously paid $12 for an app to tell me what frequency a radar is. Nice grift

Night mode. Can you please make it possible to lock night mode all the time?

CARPLAY. I used this app with V1 Gen1 and V1Gen2. The app helps elevate the V1 in many ways. I wish the app works for CarPlay.

Very Confusing- Something V1 is not.. I purchased This app with the hope of adding some additional useful features to aid me while driving many, many highway miles. I've had my first V1 since 2009 and have upgraded since to the ESP version with BluetoothLE as well. Although V1 has an app that is quite Simple to use and is very useful to drivers, I thought there was more to gain from this app. I won't be ignorant and say it doesn't work because I am sure it does. It just lacks fluidity and user friendly function. I don't know what I am changing or what features are available thru this app - it is just poorly executed from a user standpoint. I am all for beefing up V1 as much as possible, however this app needs redeveloped from the ground up. Face it Sir - you can do a lot better. Quite honestly, this is a joke. I feel like I am making a MySpace profile again. That's the best way I can describe this app's approach to being user friendly and just needs reworked. Maybe even CarPlay integration? You can do better - what would MikeV. do?

Great app for V1 Drivers. I love this app, the recent update lets you know “ALL CLEAR” when it doesn’t detect anymore bands after decrying some, I wish the voice alerts would be louder, for example I have CarPlay, it when I listen to music, it doesn’t dim the music, it just talks over the music, and you can faintly hear it, hopefully they read this and improve on that, that would be a nice feature to be heard if you’re playing music loudly and still want to make sure you hear the alerts.

Useful features. Dudes the app is great, adds a lot functionality to my V1 and gives me lots of situational awareness when it comes to what’s around me. However, for 10 dollars I expect a better user interface. In portrait mode the bottom buttons are barely usable. In landscape mode the maps page can’t be easily read with the pin menus above and below the map. The settings menu is very clunky when digging in to sub menus. It’s not all bad, functionality is there, but for 10 bucks I would like to see more polish and not need to read the tips to know what to do with the app.

V1 on steroids.. This is a must own app if you are a “driver” and have a valentine one. If George keeps the updates coming, I’ll keep making sure my customers buy this.

Absolute must-have for Valentine One owners. I’m relatively new to the world of radar detectors, but this app made the decision easy for me. This app unlocks capabilities that other detectors charge 2x the price for. The developer clearly has a passion for this and does a great job of providing updates and fixes. I’m looking forward to being a pro V1 user!

CarPlay maybe?. If the developer added just basic navigation features so that it could be added to CarPlay, this app would be perfect, and I would be willing to pay twice as much for it.

Completing the V1 experience!. I have had a V1 for 20+ years now, and swear by it! I just recently picked up a Gen2, and found out about this app. This is incredible and completes the entire Valentine package. It offers the functionality that you want in a very intelligent way. I tried to figure out the app on my own, and it was a little bit cumbersome… But after watching a couple videos and reading a couple of well written blog posts, it is actually pretty well laid out. My hat is off to the developer. I don’t know if it is possible, as I am not a developer… But I think it would be an absolute game changer if it was at all possible to somehow pull in police location information from Waze, and somehow have the V1 react to it on a GPS based notification service. Maybe allowing Waze to run in the background, to feed information to V1driver… Which in turn would alert on the V1 device. I’m sure it’s not possible, but would be incredible!!

Outstanding. This app is truly top notch, I give it 10/10. I have driven with a V1 in my vehicles since 1994, and this app turns it into what I dreamed of as the perfect radar detector. I have watched this sniff out a K-band shooting LEO amongst completely K-band polluted areas time and time again, all the while, muting the garbage K-band signals, it has earned my complete trust. I know the risk goes up slightly, but this app could not have done it any better, the trade off is soooo worth it, believe me. Mr. Mills, I want to say thank you....V1 driver is a work of art. The only thing I could want more, would be, to be able to have the V1 arrow display as an option, or somewhere on one of the other screens. Possibly in a future update? Please, that would make this app an 11/10. Nevertheless, if you have a V1, you want this app, easily worth 3 times the asking price.

Love the V1 Driver for the last 3 years. I loved the app since I started using it. The only issue now since V13, the Bluetooth does not connect at all! I know you are working on fixing the bug, but the app cannot be used. The V1Connection app can connect to Bluetooth but not V1Driver.

Bewildering user interface. It’s hard to get used to the user interface, but if you ignore the screen and just use the audio warnings, it’s very useful. Particularly on a regular route with non-radar alerts (which you can mute). It’s worth the $10.

A Must For Valentine 1 Owners. Finally a brain for my V-1 detector. With all of the K band radar noise out there these days this app is a must for V1 owners. I wanted my V1 to mute itself after one initial beep. I have found that one beep is all I need to alert me to a new bogey. This app goes way beyond that by not only muting bogeys but also logging physical location and frequency of a bogey. Eventually the app recognizes the same signal at the same physical location and mutes it permanently. My ride to work has become much more quiet. I also like the Bluetooth feature which ties into my car stereo and gives me verbal alerts if I want them. Also the speed sensing is a nice feature. I was also able to program a one beep alert in the free program "v1 connect" by using the mute out of box feature. Once mute out of box was selected for all bands I configured the box in each band so small no signal could get in the box. This produced a nice one beep alert for any new bogey. Even though I got my desired one beep alert with v1 connect I would still recommend buying this app.

Can’t imagine using a V1 without it. This app is amazing. I never buy apps but this one is well worth it with all the features. It’s a must have for your V1. The only thing on my wishlist is for it to be Apple CarPlay compatible. (Please!!!)

This app keeps the Valentine relevant. The V1 has great sensors, but Valentine has turned into a stubborn company unwilling to add features that are present in all detectors at its price point. I can still use my V1 with all of those features because of this app. Thank you!

Full control. Have V1 Gen 1 and this app connected easily and runs flawlessly. Kudos to the developer for making this and doing so for UNDER 10 DOLLARS!! I mean that’s insane

Outstanding Product. This is one of the few apps I have actually paid for - it was really worth it. Makes the V1 better and more versatile than anything else on the market. I’m surprised this app isn’t recommended on the V1 website.

A must have for V1 owner!. A great complement to V1 radar. Keep up the update coming. Would be nice if we can choose model of our car. Instead of saying “V1 driver” when I get into car I would like it to say “S3 driver!” Make it an in-app purchase for $.99 for custom add on.

Must have app for V1 owners. This app adds so much greatness to an already great radar locater. Very worth the cost that you pay here. I recommend this to anyone that has Bluetooth connectivity to their V1 G1 or the new G2. I would not contemplate the purchase. Great support from the publisher of the app.

A must have app for the Valentine One!. Turns an amazing radar detector into a completely full functional piece of equipment! Highly recommend it! It’s a game changer.

Great app. Would be nice if Escort has something similar.. Love the app. It automatically connects to the V1 gen2. The gps savvy function is great. I find acquiring gps signal from the phone is much faster than Escort’s gps on the unit. Many times, my Escort 360 would not get a gps signal. Which would prevent me from enabling gps lockout. With this app working in unison with the V1 gen2, lockouts can be performed instantaneously. Please note that this gps signal acquisition issue may not be apparent to the newer Escort models. My experience here is with my first generation Escort 360 and V1 gen2. The later 360c or Redline 360 might have better or stronger gps modules.

APP doesn’t work unless it’s in the forefront. Bought this app to control false alarms via it’s GPS tracking. Apparently this only works if this is open on your phone while driving. Haven’t had it tag anything new while running in the background. While I’m at it, messages/ guides the app gives make no sense. Developers should take some courses in UI design and feedback to the user. Half the messages I get make zero sense. Perhaps the developers need to invest some time in a user guide than poor usage popups.

A MUST HAVE!!!. Keep up the good work!

Annoying. For me, every time I am using it, my info screen keeps saying I’m calling myself. It’s random and happens frequently and it’s annoying me.

Makes Valentine 1 the best again. V1 is a great radar detector but non-police alerts were becoming intolerable. Valentine updates helped but V1 driver painlessly suppresses most annoying falses without reducing sensitivity. No user intervention is required although there are ample opportunities for tuning settings. If desired a tremendous amount of information is available regarding signals detected. Updates occur several times a year with bug fixes and new features. Clearly a labor of love by the developer. Highly recommended, particularly for urban or suburban driving.

Worth every penny. Great app. Quiets down the V1 driving through town. Works as a Savvy where you can set the speed below which it mutes automatically. Best aspect is it uses your phone's GPS in the background where it will mute a stationary signal that it sees in the same spot multiple times. Allows the user full control over which band to mute or not mute. Allows the user to set a time in seconds on when to automatically mute the volume on which band you choose. You will need to buy a bluetooth module from Valentine1 to plug into your power cord. Definitely recommend. Made my Valentine1 actually usable in town.

Like adding 2nd brain to V1. This app is a must for motorcyclists using a V1. I no longer have to take a hand off the bars to hit the V1 mute. This app gives you numerous ways to customize auto-muting. I won't ride without it. Best $10 I ever spent.

This app brings Valentine One to new levels!!. Incredible fantastic so accurate I just returned my escort 360 Max what a pleasure to drive around and have no more annoying false alarms. You know exactly where the radar is it pinpoints it. It uses the GPS in your Iphone and remembers where your false alarms are so next time it will be silent also gives you the frequency number which is great to know. You can also use Waze at the same time and it will still alert you in the background. This app has brought the Valentine One to new levels!! I want to thank the developer for spending all the time to create this and constantly keep it updated.

Breathes new life into the V1. I've been beta testing this app for the last several months and happy to see it released. The benefits of using this app are amazing especially if you live in a noisy area with many false alarms. The features I love in this app are too long to list here but one a major advantage for me is using it while riding my motorcycle with the V1 Radar Detector attached. Audio alerts are streamed via the app to my Bluetooth headset in my helmet. It makes for a much quieter and less distracted ride. In the car it's just as useful and I can't imagine using the Valentine One radar detector without this app now. Job well done.

Great V1 Add on. I have used multiple Valentine 1 extension apps in the past, and I have to say this is the best one. Once you get used to interpreting the display it all makes sense. If you do download this app, I recommend that you go to the developer's website and follow the links for instructions. There are multiple ways to customize it, but it is completely usable without any customization. The fact that it will automatically remember the same false alarms and auto-mute them without your intervention is enough to make the purchase worthwhile. The app seems to continue to have support from the developer, unlike others that I have used. It is well worth the money. I would highly recommend this if you are a Valentine 1 user

R8/R4 iOS users rejoice!. This app takes your R8/R4 detector and makes it even better. Automatic GPS lockouts work far more reliably, in depth configuration for voice alerts, a genius automatic alert snoozing system for persistent alerts that drop in and out, background connect to the R8 without needing to open the app. There is even a fully map interface you can use to see all of your past alerts, GPS lockout progress, etc. the user interface is intuitive and every single thing is explained to you with a tooltip when interacting with that area of the system.

Must Have!!!. With V1 driver, you don’t know your Valentine 1 is there until there’s a legit radar danger 99.9% of the time... eliminates false alarms on your regular routes. Awesome app. Thank you

Must have for V1G2. This app is well worth its price and is a must have for the V1G2. Works as intended and I’ve had no issues at all running the app. It adds a ton of features to the V1 that would otherwise be missing. I highly recommend this app to anyone who is looking to boost the features of their V1G2

Excellent. The integration with Valentine’s V1 gen 2 is flawless — including audio while connected to Bluetooth. The audible cues, apple watch notifications and histogram/map are also fantastic and useful teethes —makes up for the lack of GPS in both the v1 and v1 gen2, creating a seamless package that just works, and works well. 👏🏻 Savvy GPS learn is also a game-changer. The level of customization for the enthusiast or expert is simple and no-nonsense. The one or two negative reviewers seem to think this is about “beefing up” the v1 or v1 gen2, when in reality the purpose of this app is to lessen your need to interact with your v1 by providing audible cues and other useful information. It does offer the ability to customize m quite heavily if you should choose to do so - and I can verify the audio touting works flawlessly in any vehicle I have used it in.

Awesome, auto eliminates K falses. I really like the frequency and band anouncement through my car stereo, the easy mute button (although I wish I could click ANYWHERE on the screen to mute, not just the left side of the screen), and how super easy it is to use. I literally don't need to do anything to use it, as it connects in the background (and notifies you, if you want), and then starts tracking alerts to determine if they're falses or not. Now that I've driven through the same area a few times, I can drive through those same areas with having all falses auto muted. Very nice! Great app, and I'm looking forward to see what new options will be added in the future!

What happens to the pull down screen from the maps screen. Did this get lost in a update. I no longer see the pull down screen on the maps menu. That was so important because I only had the green dots on. Now every hit shows up and there are 1600 plus of them. Please fix because by far you have the best program for anyone who owns a V1. A must if you have an iPhone. As the title says, if you have an iPhone and a V1G2 you have to have this app. It makes the V1G2 so much better. The amount of control that you have is amazing and at the same time easy to use. It really does make the V1G2 the best radar detector you can have. Highly recommend.

Overall works well, some issues. Overall this is a good app and works well. However setting a network alerts minimum speed does not work - anything above 0 mph makes it no longer function. Also, if you have multiple detectors, it will only reconnect to the last one - despite having both stored. Wrote the developer on these issues and didn’t even get a courtesy response, hence the lower star rating. Maybe the one item will never work and maybe the second is by design, who knows, at least it would have been nice to be acknowledged after taking the time to send a write up and screen shots.

Disappointing App. With all the potential of creating an app for the V1 and especially the V1 Gen 2, to not have the ability to change settings, set custom frequencies, adjust volume is a little perplexing. Pros: It connects seamlessly, reliably, and automatically. The lock outs work pretty good, and are smarter than built in lock outs on other detectors. Has nifty auto muting features. Cons: The voice announcements don’t work well, the default speed is too slow and the adjustments are too steep. Just adjusting one point above default and the speech is too fast. In addition there is a voice announcement for a signal when the signal is dropped but immediately reacquired. We don’t need to have repeated announcements for the same signal, use a time buffer or something. ESavvy interferes with lockouts. Anytime ESavvy is actively muting, it doesn’t learn the stationary false alerts that are being detected and displayed. Manual lockouts don’t have an option to be unlearned. They are there even if the false alert is no longer valid. There is no alert log. You get pins. For what, I cannot figure out. I would think people would rather have a proper log that can be mapped versus pins that may or may not drop properly or see “duds”. You can’t change volume with it. You can’t change the settings of the detector. You can’t set custom frequencies. There are no profiles or ways to change app or detector settings based on location. Why not? I hope the app progresses as it has a lot of potential and has some great things as a foundation. I look forward to more updates.

CREATOR, Please Read This!. First of all, what a fabulous app you have created to pair with the legendary V1. However, there is something HUGE that needs to be addressed! As you know, Michael Valentine didn’t see a need to include MRCD into the V1 G2—which is beyond me—and because of this, us V1 owners don’t know of such traps until we are in kill zone proximity (several feet from MRCD source). Moreover, if this is indeed true, that is, MRCD is detectable with the newer V1 albeit very short range, would it in any way be possible for you to save recorded instances into a global database to warn all V1 drivers of a potential MRCD location? (And do you know if MRCD technology implementation can be added by Mr. Valentine without needing new hardware and just a firmware update?) I look forward to your response. Thank you for your time and awesome app that has turned my V1 into an even better detector.

Awesome. The Valentine V1 is a great detector but lacks the GPS features of the Escort detectors. This makes it at par but you get to keep the awesome detection of the V1. Used to be, these features are only available on android through YaV1. Not anymore.

V1 Driver turns V1 into an Escort killer. V1 driver made my nearly useless V1 (I kept the volume to zero all the time to avoid hearing all the false alarms) to a robust, powerful radar detector. I was about to junk my V1 and return to Escort but this app is phenomenal. I helped beta test this app and was excited when it finally came to market. I would have easily paid double for it. Combine this app with vortexradar custom sweeps and your V1 will outperform any radar detector on the market.

Perhaps we need an upgrade. JBV1 on android is free. Maybe we can Add in an upgrade package to match JBV1’s Air/traffic and other features. Keep up the good work so far.

Great app for your valentine one. This app alone made me sell my max 360 and buy a v1. After the app locks out all the K band falses the v1 is very quit. This app has made the relatively chatty V1 great to drive with. Thanks

Amazing App. Very impressed with this App. Works well and is fun to be able to track its learning. I have 2 V1s with 2 bluetooth add-ons and it works seamlessly moving from car to car. Solid App and well worth the money.

v1 driver vs r8 companion san antonio texas. had both. r8 was a little more user friendly at first but my R8 has been going nuts with these new ka k band traffic sensors and cameras it was learning but it kept chirping to let me know it was quieting the problem is they turn these sensors on and off depending on traffic. but v1 driver has a keep demuted feature if they become too much of a problem. but thank you v1 driver. i was about to just unplug my brand new r8 and leave it for trips out into the hill country. but it has gotten a hold of all this nonsense the city has started implementing mid december-jan 1 2024. sorry to any traveling here. but 281 is a nightmare. now. for false positives on every entry and exit ramp

If you own a Valentine One you need this app.. I'll keep it simple. If you own a Valentine one you need this app. This app is the ONLY reason I have not thrown my V1 out the window. If you are tired nightie constant beeping and false alarms this is the solution. Since, Valentine is either unwilling or unable to modernize and adapt their radar detector this app breaths new life into your V1.

Must have. This app is a must have if you own a Valentine V1. I love my V1 it's accurate and true. But the I live in an area where their are multiple speed traps, so it's constantly going off. This app uses gps to pin where it has alerted and will auto mute the signal. I trust my V1 so much more, that when I hear it I'm on my brakes because I know it's not a false or a recurring alarm. Excellent app would buy every single time no question about it.

Awesome. This thing is amazing it's basically brings back the Valentine one before there was automatic doors everywhere. It does require some knowledge certainly out of the box it will do everything on its own but you can make the control much more granular. My recommendation would be to search the name of the application on the Internet and then read those postings for more detailed information but out of the box it will work very well

Must have for Valentine V1. If you own a Valentine V1, then you need this app. It realizes the full potential of the highly potent, sensitive V1 by helping reduce false alerts and really quiets the detector. This is the app that the V1 should have come with.

Amazing. This is absolutely fantastic. It isn't easy to 100% understand the radar screen layout but the apps great. Once it's connected to other V1 drivers it will shatter the stratosphere eliminating false alerts. There should be a way to confirm it was a thumbs up a signal if you confirm a police trap. Having the app alert me to a trap prior to the radar detector would make tickets a thing of the past. This is a great all around app and I'm still learning some features but wow I'm impressed.

Great addition to V1. This app gives me all the benefits of the Escort 360 while opening $200 less. It connects automatically to the V1 so it can lockout false alerts without taking phone out of your pocket. Very well written program. No issues at all.

Great App!. This app is fantastic if you are a V1 user. It adds features that are not otherwise available on the V1 such as GPS based muting. The V1 is the highest quality detector and now it has all the bells and whistles of the other guys who's quality just isn't there in my eyes. This app is worth the money. I just hope the developer keeps it going.

Turns V1 into a beast. As a beta tester for this app, I logged about 5,000 miles running it with my Valentine One. Works like a dream and turns the V1 into a beast. The independent developer was incredibly responsive and worked diligently to make this the best V1 app for iOS by a longshot. This app is a rare gem- a carefully crafted labor of love.

Great App. I'm coming from YaV1 and this is the perfect app for iPhone users. GPS lockouts work great. I run this with the Savvy module from Valentine and they play well together. The app has Savvy emulation if you don't have the hardware. My only wish would be to have the traditional arrows as an option in addition to the built in graphical display. Great job to the developer.

GPS Lockouts for iPhone V1 users!. GPS lockouts have finally arrived for V1 users with iPhones! If you have a newer Valentine One (3.892 or newer) and the iPhone Bluetooth module (V1C LE), you can run this app and it will automatically learn your false alerts and mute them for you. Super handy! Plus you get low speed muting, some cool display options, and more. If you have a V1 and an iPhone, this is well worth it!

V1driver turns the V1 into a beast of a RD! A quiet one at that!. I have been involved throughout the entire beta project to bring this application to market. It has definitely come along ways. V1driver is very feature-rich in its ability to lockout false signals by GPS or manual user locks. It has the ability to emulate Savvy by muting signals by band below user set speed or to set areas that are specifically defined by the type of areas of varying speeds with the ability to set Savvy set pins that will remember user defined these areas as you repeatedly drive through them. This app has an interactive map that shows all of the signals that have been recorded by dropping pins on the map during your travels. The map will track each pin as the V1 passes each location again and determine whether to change the pins current status to be locked out, promoted, or demoted. The map has interactive features that allow you to delete pins by type of bands, time frames, or individually as well as well whether they are new hits, duplicates, learning, GPS mutes, etc. V1driver has Incorporated sound into the application that will play over your audio system in multiple ways. Your audio system can play your audio V1 signal sounds, as well as can play a voice alert to indicate what frequency has been detected such as Ka 34.7. The main display shows all the frequencies that are being encountered and displaying them on a unique bogie map which shows their real time location compared to the RD. There are so many features to v1driver and the enhancement are ongoing. New releases are issued extremely fast when a problem is found but also to introduce new features. With V1driver you V1 will be noticeably quiet. It is also user friendly and can actually be used directly from download, there's not much customization that's needed unless you prefer one option over another. I will definitely be using this app and working with the developer to continue its development. I just can't say enough about how much this app has changed my V1, I can live with it again.

Wow we needed this!!. Love this App - two very cool screens one with a relative location awareness and one showing gps lockouts on the map. This app is worth every cent for a v1 user!!

Game Changer. I've been waiting for an app like this ever since I bought my v1. I cannot tell you how much nicer it is to drive around in a city and have your phone/tablet GPS lockout the all the non-threats. The app provides a wealth of information, is updated regularly, and has support provided by the developer himself on RDForum.org. I can't say enough great things about this app. If you're still reading this, you should already be downloading v1Driver!

Zero Support. I'd like to change the map display from Satellite view to Map View - and there's no instruction available in either the App or on the very-sparse web homepage. Update: I've deleted the app.

Excellent. Saves V1 from obsolesce.. I like the set it and forget it configuration that sends notifications to my Apple Watch.
