Indego Bike Share Comments & Reviews 2026

Update your map in real time. There’s no point of claiming to have a real time app if the only way you show stations as down is if someone actually attempts and fails to check out at a station. Drove to a different one under time pressure. 100% full. 100% fail. No one to talk to.

Awesome customer service!!. Shoutout to Chris and Deb for being the most amazing people on earth! My friend and I got a day pass and didn’t realize we had to change bikes every 30 mins. These two from customer service cleared it up in 2 mins! Amazing service!!

Amazing Bikes. Yesterday was my first time riding the Indego Bikes with my family and friends, we had no idea how to use to but eventually we researched how to use it and when we rented them to ride around the city it was fun. We all rented the electric bikes and rode from Drexel to Strawberry Mansion and from Strawberry Mansion to Drexel. We rode for 30 minutes then put it back and took a break then unlocked another bike after our break. It might not be the best price but it’s a good way to hangout with family and friends. So I would definitely recommend anyone to use the city bikes, sure it’s a lot of money, but you can just get the guest pass that expires the next day.

Bad UX. Every other city has figured out how to do this seamlessly, the app experience is terrible. Making and account and getting everything verified takes way longer than it should. Too many steps for renting a bike as a tourist for half a day.

No option for Single Ride. Having no option for a single ride / pay per minute is absurd. These bikes are all around Philly. I just wanted to hop on, ride a few blocks to my destination, and be done. But no, it’s $15 for a full day plus extra $ for over 30 minutes. Or more for monthly / yearly passes. Forget it, Philly, I’ll walk. And I’ll recommend anyone coming into town to visit to do the same. PS. Customer Service (via phone) was helpful and just as frustrated as I was that there was no option for a single ride. Apparently the company has received many complaints about this.

Terrible user experience. It says $4 but charges $.30 per minute and another $.30 if electric. Most of the time I spent riding was trying to find a doc that wasn’t full. It makes sense why they’re all full. No one uses them nor should they. I tried reaching out to them and they were not helpful and said I should’ve let them know earlier that their docs were full. I would’ve loved nothing more than to be desperately finding a place to doc while dealing with tech support only to get nowhere. Terrible experience. Should’ve ubered.

Don’t notify you of 20 cent per mile for e-bikes. The process to rent the bikes was smooth and we felt the guest pass for 60 minute unlimited rides all day was reasonable for $15, but they don’t make it known that using an electric-assisted bike will be an extra 20 cents per minute of riding. A $15 dollar excursion turned into an unexpected $40 dollar excursion. Slimey and scummy practice.

stranded. as much as I appreciate the convenience of these bikes, I don’t appreciate being stranded miles away from my home and being forced to spend more money on the subway or on an uber to get home, only because Indego doesn’t provide 24/7 support, or because the app goes down. This has happened multiple times and with zero effort on their behalf to make things right. I have never been offered any monetary refund and yet time and time again I am left miles away from home only to be left once again paying for an alternate route home. It’s getting old.

App Review. First of all, I would like to say that using this service is a great way to get around the city. Though I use this service everyday, it can be unreliable because stations are often ‘unavailable’ and many times the bikes have maintenance issues that make riding difficult. Overall, I will continue to use this service but if another business like this came to Philly, I would absolutely try that. Not to mention, the customer service reps are a hit or miss in my experience. I’ve dealt with very rude agents who have handled issues poorly when I’ve called about station or bike related issues.

Nothing is loading.... downloaded app after a year or so of not having it (i used to have a $15 monthly subscription) because i wanted to take a ride downtown and nothing shows up. no docks, bikes at docks, nothing. not sure what’s going on with app but it’d help if knowing if a station had bikes or not instead of potentially wasting time walking to dock.

Getting worse. We’ve been using Indego for just over a year and it is really getting worse as time goes on. Bikes are often broken, locked, dead battery, or hard to find. Randomly they close and move a station that we’ve been using regularly, and the next closest is 5-8 blocks away, in center city! Ucity never has bikes after 6pm, literally 8 stops and no bikes. Randomly some mornings the entire station will be empty at 8am. I thought the quality would improve, but it feels like they are cutting corners now that they have subscriptions. The bikes are too heavy/clunky to ride without the electric boost, so they really should have them more often and fully charged. Sometimes the app shows more battery life when the bike is actually out of power.

Nightmare experience. I rented one bike once, and never again. When I returned it, the bike locked into the dock but the timer kept running. I sent photos to customer support, and eventually heard back that I needed to send a photo of the bike number. So I went back for that, and the next day I got $9 added to my charge with fees. Turns out that’s for using an e-bike… which was definitely unclear when first setting up the app. $14 for 30 minutes of an e bike is crazy.

Would give them 0 stars if I could. While the convenience is the only real selling point, the bikes have issues 70% of the time, whether the gears don’t shift, the seat is falling off, or a tire is completely flat. And if by chance you find a working bike the station could be down and you may have to walk 5-10 blocks to find another working bike. I know they can afford to maintain the bikes/stations but they choose to do the bare minimum. They will also wait to rack up charges and hit you with ebike fees out of the blue. It’s really frustrating because there aren’t many alternatives.

Attitude and approach to customer service is frustrating. Customer service standard is cheap. Indego is a miser. Will suspend your account for as little as a penny with no warning. Very inconvenient when your at the rack just about to start your work commute. Also, they won’t take my debit card for my transit spending account, issued by my employer. It works perfectly fine for Septa and NJT. Was told it only take cards issued by banks. Just a sneaky form of discrimination and exclusion. Customer service rep condescendingly kept repeating we only take cards fdic insured. They have more respect if it wasn’t a monopoly. I’ll still use as it’s the only city commuter bike service.

extremely inconvenient. I’ve been riding with Indigo for over a year now and it’s definitely one of the worst bike services compared to Citibike or Divvy. You could pull up to an Indigo stop with 15 bikes and only 2 will be available especially early in the morning or at night. Bikes are locked for “maintenance” without maintenance workers being there. Because of this riding with Indigo is extremely unpredictable and can make you late for work/events if you depend on it. Customer service offers no help either. It’s really disappointing because it would be a great bike service without this issue.

Hidden fees. Charged my account over 50 dollars in e bike and over time fees for a ride the was an hour and 13 minutes. I called and got it refunded but I would’ve never gotten it back if I never reached out. It also caused an inconvenience because money was tight at that time. Used to love going riding with my girlfriend on these bikes, but now I can’t trust it. I might not be so lucky next time. Time to get my own bicycle, won’t be using again.

Easy and convenient. Easy to use, and convenientLu located in spots around the city that I frequently visit. I use it to commute to work!

Great system!. Love the bike system, and it’s very useful without many issues. I wish there were fewer electric bikes relative to the number of normal ones- sometimes there are only 10 electric bikes at a station and no normal ones, and I don’t want to pay the additional fee required to use an electric one.

Terrible customer service, terrible product. Indego has a monopoly on the bike share in Philadelphia and is a complete and total disaster. Bikes often have mechanical issues ranging from batteries showing they’re charged when they’re not (and refusing to give you a refund) to brakes not functioning. When you report a problem, customer service associates are, rude, condescending, and unfit to interact with humans. They are a complete and total dumpster fire of an organization.

Might as well take an uber.. Unless you live around there and use it often its honestly cheaper to uber by the time you purchase the membership and all the additional fees.

Quality Bike Share. Honestly shocked by the number of negative comments here, namely towards the customer service. I have had bikes not check back in correctly, minor billing mishaps, and questions all addressed within minutes through the text service. The bikes aren’t always the best, but it is a major city’s bike share, they can only do so much. Overall, the monthly pass pays for itself many times over if you compare it to SEPTA rates, especially if you have a regular commute. Definitely recommend, don’t be scared off by the negative comments.

Very expensive unreliable e-bikes. If you want to bike in Philadelphia this is the only game in town. And you can tell it has no competition because of the poor condition of the bikes. There is an annoying button that you have to press to turn on the e-bike, it is not automatic when you pedal. A couple of my bikes would never turn on or only for a short time. You have to push this button also to see how much charge before you select the bike there is no continuous display and you can’t tell in the app. For sure this is the most expensive e-bike I have ever ridden at $0.30 a minute, or even with a “day” pass you pay 0.20 a minute AND if you are just sightseeing then over an hour you get extra fees on top of that. Ultimately our few logout sightseeing having to swap out several bikes with a day pass cost over $50 PER rider. Philadelphia needs some competition on e-bikes If you want to bike use the standard bikes. A day pass is $25 as long as you swap it out every hour then $15 is the cost.

More non-electric bikes please. Personally, I prefer to get some exercise using an unpowered bike. But electric bikes are the majority of bikes available.

Easy and FUN!. The bike share program is awesome! Super easy to use. I saw so many things in Philly on my 30 minute bike ride. I've just downloaded the app and look forward to using this method of transportation on a regular basis going forward. Thank you!

Horrible service. This company is a SCAM!!!!! I’ve had two separate occasions where they charged me $500 for them not being able to locate the bike. This company should be sued and their workers should be fired. They don’t cooperate at all. When they can’t find the bike you returned, they charge you mass amounts of money and basically tell you “to go find the bike or they can’t refund you”. Thats impossible. They will scam you too. Don’t use it

Used to be amazing, now hit or miss. I used to absolutely love Indego, but as they phase out the non-electric bikes it is getting worse and worse. The electric bikes don’t allow the seat to go high enough for me, and the app is often wrong about how much charge they have so I end up having to use a dead bike too small for me. Or they just die even when they show a full battery. I have to change bikes mid-ride more often than I’d like, and sometimes the station doesn’t recognize that they’ve docked and then I get stuck since I can’t get a new bike. All while charging extra for e-bikes. I just bought my own bike after a couple years of being an enthusiastic customer.

Customer service is great. Didn't realize that you have to return the bike after 30 minutes with a daily pass... We got charged $20 in extra fees but Deb was a phenomenal help in getting our charges revoked when we called. Great customer service :)

Easy to work. So far I’ve been using them for about three months and I’ve only had a couple issues that were resolved in a decent amount of time and they do get back to you and it’s very easy to use as long as you follow all the instructions. Very convenient to have in the city. Especially to have as a good date or to get somewhere quickly.

Inconsistent. I really love Indego when it is working. It is my primary form of transportation to and from work, and all around Philly. However, the app is extremely inconsistent with bugs. I was unable to use the app for all of 7/28, which caused me to miss a train, and walk/uber long distances. I would happily pay more for the service if it was consistent.

scam. Wouldnt expect anything less from a philly business. They charged me $500 for a bike I returned! It wouldn't dock, a common problem so I took a picture of it docked and they ended the trip. 2 weeks later they charge my card $500 with no warning saying the bike is missing.

What a cool company. I used this app when I was visited Philly. I was mostly in City Center so the convenience of have a docking station on every corner was great! I ran into a few problems with docking the bikes. Like how my bike would be fully docked and locked but the app wouldn’t recognize it and continue to charge me for my time. I called tech support and they were so nice and accommodating. They told me I didn’t need to call if I didn’t wanted that they have a number to text that is just as convenient. Other than that, using the bikes was a great experience. When I left Philly, I guess I selected a renewing service with the bikes that I wasn’t aware of and called tech support to cancel. Every time I’ve called Indego, they have been nothing but nice and easy to work with. They refunded me my money and I left with a great experience. I don’t usually leave reviews but after using Lime, Lyft, and Rider services, I think I’m in love with Indego. They have a few kinks but overall, I am throughly impressed!

the most thieving company of all.. I was visiting Philadelphia in the last week and I bought a day pass from this company I did two rides on the same day one to go somewhere and one back, 5 days later I was charged $500 for the disappearance of the bike. I got in touch but I've never seen so much unwillingness to try to resolve whatever my issue was. DO NOT USE THIS APP. they act with bad intentions and then you are the same as i feel now, robbed and deceived. the docks of this company by accident or out of sheer malice break, they say the bike didn't return and they steal from you, that's what you did to me.

Feature request:. I would love if there was a way get Apple Maps directions when looking at any station in the app I often have to manually search the address of the station I’m riding to in Apple Maps where it would be a lot more convenient to just have a button redirect you to Apple Maps with the directions to the station’s address you were looking at As for a general review of the app, it works pretty well for the most part with the exceptions of some small bugs like text overflowing from the view it’s in or the “All”, “Bikes”, “Docks” segment buttons sometimes being replaced by another button

Torture in app form. This is the most frustrating app I have ever tried to use. You create an account, it provides a way for you to pay (and accepts your money), and then there is no way to log in, use the app, or rent a bike. I’m doing this with four other people having the exact same experience. How are these bikes being used by anyone ever? This is a shameful waste of money and time. If I could give negative 7,000 stars, I would.

Great service. If you want better expect to pay more :p. People here complain about anything. App is very stable and you can always get a classic or e bike when needed or wherever in center city and surrounding areas. Just realize that some amount of classic bikes have broken shifters and some e bikes don’t have stated amount of batteries. But for $20 a month (1 hr unlimited classic rentals) what more do you want to ask for.

Unethical billing practice.. I subscribed for a month because my gf wanted to use their service. The company ended up continue to charge my card monthly for services that I never used. The company’s practice is somewhat unethical considering that I never received any email receipt from them suggesting that I was still paying for their monthly subscription. I just downloaded the app trying to cancel my subscription. What’s worse is I cannot find a way to remove my credit card information from the app after cancelling my subscription. Be careful when signing up for this service.

Indego doesn't care about their customers. I've been using Indego for over a year now, and they charged me a $500 fee over docking my bike partially. I could not dock it fully as there was snow/ice frozen over the bike station. The customer service is usually understanding, but clearly not this time. Additionally, most days the Ebikes have very little to no charge, and you'll be lucky to find a station to dock your bike when you get to your destination. Their quality of services has seriously been going down. Happy to say that I won't be using Indego again. Tldr: AVOID THEM IF YOU DONT WANT RANDOM FEES CHARGED TO YOUR ACCOUNT

Issues but great customer service. This was a great way to get around the city. I did have 3 issues, 2 where the bike did not check back in and I was unable to check out another bike and 1 where I was overcharged; however, the customer service department fixed all issues immediately. Very friendly staff.

Love it. Easy system. Lots of stations to choose from. Some bikes are better than others. Overall I love it.

Never Make Apps Again. The entire development team for this “app” should be fired and then sued. I don’t even know where to begin with the broken and ugly areas of this dysfunctional piece of trash. Do I begin at the fact that when I open the app it suggests that I download the app? Do I start with delivering the message that 2007 called and wants its app back? Do I start by pointing out that this “application” is nothing more than a crappy web browser? Do I begin with its broken API and authentication problems? I can’t even create an account much less login or pay for a rental bike. My friend had to ride on the back of one of the bikes with me because of how broken this so called “app” is. I’m surprised, given Apple’s standards of quality for what is allowed in the App Store, that this app even passed their QA approval process. Imagine being a company, and designing an app you so obviously have never used yourselves. Sad, just sad.

Worst bike share I’ve ever seen. Indeho offers no single-ride option, only pricey 1/2 and full day. But buried in the first d print is the fact that e-bikes (the only kind they have at every dock I found in downtown Philly are an EXTRA .30/*MINUTE*. So if you want to go anywhere, be ready to get charged a buck to wait at a traffic light. I never thought I’d pine for the DC Limebikes, but they’re a bargain compared to this nonsense. That said, once I realized they were actually underwritten by a massive and rapacious health care conglomerate, it does makes their punitive pricing and lousy options make a ton of sense. Anyway, good news for the subway, I guess? No bike rides in Philly for me!

Bait & Switch. This company advertises all you can ride for $20/mo, but they don’t have any classic bikes available. They only stock e-bikes, which are 20¢ per minute plus tax on top of the amount you’ve already paid. The nearest classic bike is farther than my entire trip. Scam.

Lucky Philadelphia. Indego is a top notch bikeshare service! This is exactly the same convenience that the best bikeshares like the one in Paris offer! I use the bike mostly to commute between my office and 30th Street Station, but I also take the bike around Philly. The app while not fancy has never failed me. They email you confirmations for everything to ensure that you don’t make any mistakes. The cost is so amazing too! I am so grateful for Indego!

Good in theory. In theory this is a great service. In practice it will leave you stranded or walking all over to try to find the elusive station that is both online and stocked with bikes. I want to like it, I really do. Maybe once they can reliably stock bikes where masses of people are getting out of work, I could use the service without anxiety about not having access to a bike to get home.

Horrible Onboarding. This has been one of the worst app onboarding experiences. I purchased a monthly pass but cannot access my account. The monthly pass email says to use my phone number to check out a bike, but this isn't an option through the app? Further, I'm not able to login to my account with the email/password combination I created and the "Forgot Password" button has no functionality whatsoever

A rip off. A rip off. The app would NOT let me or my family members register at the day rate of 15+$. So we ended up registering at the hourly rate of four something. There were mostly e bikes on the stand so we got three ebikes and two regular. On return less that two hours later our charge wasn’t eight or nine something, it was over 77$, per bike. In the message section was a notice after we registered and got bikes that additional rates could apply to ebikes. Totally evil - especially after having an excellent experience with DC bike share, the day before.

Scam Fees. App is extremely outdated compared to other scooter and bike rental services. It cannot adjust in real time to what you’re doing. You have to return the bike to a station every time to end a transaction. Your fees don’t show up until the next day. There’s no way to get your money back. Avoid using at all cost.

Price. Used to be $2-3 for 30 minute ride when they started 7 years or so ago. Now $15 for 24 hours. That’s the lowest option. It doesn’t make sense when Uber costs the same. I’d rather buy a online bike for $100, store it outside 7 times, and risk it getting stolen. Than pay $15 to rent a crappy bike. I understand they want more bikes for membership ppl, and they make money off subscription model. But I personally would rent a bike for $4-30 minutes.

Good when it works. I personally wouldn’t rely on it, it’s okay when it works. But the constant buggy app is a turn off. Also, don’t forget that sometimes the dock won’t register you putting the bike back. So there’s the off chance you’ll be charged the entire day. You must do your due diligence and triple confirm.

Mixed Results. The bikes are great, and very convenient, when they cooperate. However, maintenance is not always up to date (parts rattle, the seats don’t latch properly, etc) and bike checkout and return is often finicky, to say the least. Customer support is pretty easy to get in touch with and super friendly, but I shouldn’t have to call them this often for a bike return that failed to register in the app. And I shouldn’t walk 3 blocks to a non-empty station just to have the app refuse to let me checkout an available bike due to a network error.

Essential for bike share users!. Makes planning trips much easier! I've used bike share (and their apps) in other cities, and this is by far the most useful.

Lost Item. I've been using this service for about a year now, easily accessible with three docks within two to three blocks of my home. I misplaced my keys, they were left in a docked bike. Instead of the user calling the company they hand them off to some law enforcement in University City. I'm writing this review to be very clear, if you find an item on a bike please call the company. Do not hand over someone's property to a stranger they be local authorities or not. Everything is digital so it's easy for the company to trace everything and they can find who's item it is. Very inconsiderate, I lost my keys just think if you lost your keys?! Use better judgement Philadelphia is a major metropolitan area the keys could have been anyone's. The customer service just blew me off after while. Like we found the person, he handed off your keys so oh well.

Buggy app. Does not let me save edits to profile

Nope. The prices are too high. Electric bikes are totally unreasonably priced

Horrible customer service. They have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with.

love it (if it was always this affordable)!. been using with the promo code for bike month, and i’ve loved it!! had so much fun i just wish it was always $5 a month instead of $20. w that, the electric bikes have an extra fee ($0.20 per minute) so sometimes it’s more expensive than taking the bus

The app. It’s slowly becoming a headache. Love Indego always will. You need to be super attentive with the app and where the bikes are. Since I changed to iPhone the bike map is erratic and unreliable even if you patiently wait for it to update. I blame Apple more because w android I never had a problem.

You even get the bikes. You’ll spend all this money and time for bikes that won’t come out of the dock 80% of the time

Trip wouldn’t end when bike was docked. Got stranded far from home since I couldn’t book a new trip after I docked my bike.

Respects woo It. Err reddf F see ppltha see

Useless. Downloaded latest version. Doesn’t show any docks or bikes. Fix your app

Never any Regular bikes. There are always electric bikes because they cost extra money. Their batteries are hurting our environment. PUT OUT MORE REGULAR BIKES.

One ride double billed. First ride. Double billed. What’s up?

I’ll never use this as a subscription service. Bring back quick trips like every other city in America, wrf?

Pay at kiosk. Let people pay at the kiosk so they don’t have to download a horrible app that doesn’t work

Great app. Smooth functionality and very useful features. It would be good to add an option to be notified when bikes or docks become unavailable at a selected station. (I've frequently been en-route to a station only to find no docks or bikes.)

So close yet so far. This has so much potential, and when it’s working it’s wonderful! But every once in a while some issue arises that completely sours the experience. Just today I started a new job. I planned on renewing an expired monthly pass I was using before to ride a bike home. Unfortunately, the app decided to not allow me to renew. I even tried multiple phones and browsers. No error code or anything, just won’t work. Currently I’m soaked in sweat after walking home for an hour in 97 degree heat. Not fun. Might as well buy your own bike. I know that’s what I’m going to do. The promise of a service like this is so incredible, but if they keep making mistakes like this then they’re going to lose users.

Good show, Old Beans. What a great addition to an already well run and well supported bike share program. Philly should be proud.

Great app!. Yo, this is a really useful app for finding bikes, and I really like the color scheme!

Bad overall. Bad app, bad bikes, expensive

Trash app. Complicated rental system. They made it harder and more expensive to rent bikes. You have to pay $12 for a full 24 hour pass now, you cannot just rent short term. Tried to rent a bike, paid the $12 and stood at the disgusting crusty kiosk with a filthy touch screen waiting for a confirmation code and. I thing ever came, had to walk away and walk home after paying $12

Would not let me log in. Took my money, but will not let me login

(。•́︿•̀。) (•́へ•́╬). I buy tickets on June. I never ride bike on July But they charge me one month fee?!I agree ride bike is good for environment. And it is cheap for riding bike than take bus.Ony twenty dollar a month. But I NEVER AGREE CONTINUE BUY TIKETS AND NEVER RIDE BIKE ON JULY. WHY CHARGE ME FEE!!!

App closes down. Typing in my username and the app closes down. Also had trouble accepting payment. Garbage app through and through like most public transportation apps.

Took my money, never gave me the pass. Can’t log in through the app after resetting my pw

Impossible to cancel in app. This app has billed me 3x after I cancelled. I cannot remove the credit card. I have reported for fraud. Awful!
