Cool but.... At first I thought it was a lame attempt at ripping off Auxy. Then I played with it and see it as a great test harness, or way to lay down ideas. It's fantastic for that. You can so quickly lay down some percussion, bass, and a basic chord progression. Looking deeper I found you can customize things pretty granularity too. I wish more sounds were offered initially but my biggest gripe is I wish it would let me change which octave a given chord in the progression is in. That would be a big improvement IMHO.

Great Tool. Stable and easy to use. Lots of potential to be a very useful app in the future.

Great tool. Great tool for starting ideas

Unbelievably easy to use!. I usually dislike most music apps for iOS. I have tried quite a few and end up uninstalling them later. This is none of those 🙃. The interface is stupid simple to use. If a company like apple were to design and package a quality DAW this would be its equivalent for iOS. I will be buying the separate packs because it complements my workflow with ableton on my Mac when I am on the train and away from the studio. Great for getting projects kickstarted! Definitely recommended.

App not working. This app is a great concept. I spent 10 dollars though and it refuses to work. I’ve restored previous purchases and everything but it is still not working. The chords or any other section won’t play and I can’t choose them. If I could get some help that would be great.

So genius. I love this app so much it is so useful~ please continue to update it and expand its features Would love to see the ability to duplicate projects, make longer projects, and generate melodies

The Most Useful Composition Tool Ever!. Having worked on the music theory part of this app, I'm so happy that this app is out for mobile and desktop. I find myself plugging chord progressions I think of just to hear all the rhythmic possibilities I could do with a few taps/clicks. It's so easy for me to export my favorite patterns into my DAW (Ableton Live for me). And whenever I'm out and about, I can continue getting new song ideas down with this app so I'm ready to produce when I get home. Even if you're a seasoned pro producer/composer, you will still discover a new harmonic and rhythmic to consider for your next track using this app.

incredibly simple, yet powerful tool. This is an incredibly simple, yet powerful tool for writing ideas. The concept of Odesi really sparks a lot of great inspiration for me, which in turn introduced me to their Mac app that is even more feature rich for writing ideas down and sending them into my DAW to further complete a song. I do enjoy the iOS app, especially the tap to create rhythms. It makes the iOS version versatile and fun to use. I'd like to see more continuity between the two apps. As it is right now, it's a lot of fun, but leaves me wanting more advanced features on iOS. I will gladly pay to unlock more features, especially if they allow me to utilize the features from the Mac app. I really do want to have that kind of flexibility to write on my iPad or iPhone, save to the cloud and open up on my Mac to complete a production. Thanks again for all you and your team do. Two thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻

We Need melody!. I think is the only thing the App need to be great!

Great App - would love MIDI OUT in addition to export. in addition to exports midi out would allow for controlling external hardware and streamlining workflow!

Great app. I love it!!!!

Great Start! 1 Year since update tho... Works very well to get a quick sketch down. As others have said the 16 bar limitation is kind of annoying. Would love to see Ableton Link support, MIDI in / out, sample import (acapellas / loops) and updated drum loops like the most recent version of the desktop app. Lets not forget Audiobus support while we're at it. 😉 Great job devs- nice work!

Awesome but overpriced. Yeah it’s definitely cool but, the upgrades are way overpriced. To upgrade this entirely costs more than the computer version which is much more powerful. Each upgrade should be .99 or 2.99 tops! 4.99 is insane!

MUSIC on the GO!. This app is awesome and so incredibly easy to use!!!! Looks like the developers put in some serious effort into finding interesting drum, bass and chord patterns. Although very easy use, the software actually offers advanced features like tapping your own custom bass patterns or changing the key of your chords to virtually any scale. This app is truly great and instantly gratifying because everything is so quick and also sounds great!!! I love it! 5 STARS*****

Great app, needs more work. I would give this 5 stars but its missing the melody feature and scale variety that the captain plugins have. For some who love to use iOS having these features would be great as an all in one. Add more scales and a melody feature and its five stars! Having just a minor and major scale isn’t enough. Either way I still love this app.

An amazing tool for composers. I use voice memos all the time to record my ideas... Maybe they are beatbox style musical ideas or melodies and lyrics for a song. This app lets you take it further. You can play melodies, try different combinations of chord progressions, even throw on a beat and bass and jam, all before exporting midi to another program where you can go deeper into production. Amazing tool for songwriters and composers!!! Love it!!

Super easy to use. It’s one of the quickest ways to generate midi tracks that I’ve come across. It’s well thought out and generates chords, bass, and drums in about 2 seconds. There are a nice selection of progressions and rhythms that are easy to select. It would great if this offered a melody line too, like the full blown Odesi does, but that is not a big deal to me. I bought the midi export feature and I will just drag the midi into Studio One to work on melodies there. If the desktop version was as easy to use as this, I would have kept that too.

Fantastic App - How to Improve. Love this app! You can create amazing melodies in seconds and even automate your own rhythms. The only downside is that you only have access to do so four bars at a time. Hopefully this changes in the near future!

Good, but Frustrating. I own the desktop version of this app, and I like it a lot. I downloaded the iOS version so I could seamlessly work between them when I travel; however, this is not feasible without having to spend extra money to unlock the midi export feature. Additionally, there seems to be no way to link my accounts, meaning I have to import my mobile sessions even if I decided to pay the extra $5 to gain the feature. I feel taken advantage of as a producer and DJ who supports the Mixed In Key family of products. I own Mixed In Key, Odesi, and the Captain Plug-ins. They are quality, which is why I bought into the product line, but failing to provide a full mobile version for customers who already own the desktop version seems like a poor business practice. This would at least remedy, in my opinion, the fact that you cannot use Odesi without an internet connection. I’m willing to adjust my rating if Mixed In Key remedies this situation; otherwise, the mobile version of Odesi is just a money grab for it to truly be beneficial.

Great fun but could be so much better. The concept is fantastic for sketching out song ideas when your not in the studio. Chords and presets are pretty basic for pop and edm tracks. Would like to see the preset rhythms and styles expanded on to 80s/synthwave, rock (50s, 60s, 70s, kraut ,goth, more) Latin, lounge, and so on. The adds on are way to expensive for this app. They want 4.99 just to add things like 10 new drum kits. I think a paid pro version of 5-10$ should include all the current add-ones. Would be happy to pay for new genre presets and sounds Hope to see this developed more as it is fun to come up with new ideas different from my normal song writing methods.

Good app but need improvement. This is a good basic app but need more options

Nice. Helps you come up with quick songs. Very user friendly!!

This is like a dream. Awesome!!!

Don’t waste money. It’s not full version i paid for the upgrade and nothing like desktop version wow they don’t care take your money and run please stay away until they do us rite

Love this app. It’s almost there, but I appreciate the devs for what they’ve done so far!. This app is almost as great as the desktop version. As a producer, I like to write chords on the-go and love the Odesi app. This could replace my other phone composition apps if I could edit from the note presets given. Overall, I’m really pumped about this app and have bought some of the upgrades, which are easily worth it compared to the (many) composition apps I’ve tried. This is easily top 5 out there! If we got midi-editing abilities, midi importing (maybe 4 bars of chords and a melody max), more detailed chord editing (7th, inversions, and suspensions), and arrangements of 16 bars, this app would KILL the competition and easily be my favorite. Great work, Mixed in Key. Keep it up!!

Nothing works except the credits. So much promise, no results. 12.9” iPad Pro on IOS 11. You can read the credits. That’s it. Hint to developers: Make it work. So much potential. I’d gladly be a Beta tester to get this working.

Cadence tool. Very good software for fast creation of ideas and cadences or short progression simple chords , with chords from each scale at a glance. With nice design and color . Very thanks . Pejman.

Not even close to the desktop/web version. As it stands right now, this app is a useless novelty at best. I could live with only 4 bars if it had even a fraction of the features/usability of the desktop/web version of Odesi, but this is so pared down as to be completely useless to a songwriter/producer. You have only 4 bars, only 4 chords that must each take up an entire bar, static, unchangeable drum patterns, and so on. Don't bother in its current state. Stick with the full desktop/web version, which is actually a useful songwriting/production scratchpad.

Still 4 Bar Limit - really????. This app is just a toy until it gets beyond its four bar limit. This limit erases any gains that are made by a very well designed and easy to use application concept. I like the desktop version which does not have this limit, but it is also nothing more than a Adobe Flash based app, which is a sluggish and quirky environment. If this developer stepped up its coding game, this could easily be a 5 star app.

Amazing sketch pad. I love this app. Thank you guys for creating and expanding on it. Started with the beta and am super impressed with the updates. I'm not a huge expert on music theory and this gives me a great jumpstart into creating more music faster. One suggestion would be to find a way to export the wav/MP3 file so I can chop it up in ableton. Also- look into a lower latency on the "record your own midi" section. It's amazing though and seriously you guys made me want to produce music again after a long dry spell. Thank you! - Ryan

Need more. I bought odesi & captain plugins desktop & i need this features here to allow to me sync with my account why you do it like this ..?

Do easy to use!. This is so easy, it stays out of the way while you quickly get a tune together for later development. Exporting using Files. Plenty of ‘variety’ of sounds to actually be a useful choice, not just sounds, but sounds with a purpose.

Fantastic song writing tool. I love this music app.

Music maker😆😆. This is a great app. It helps me with harmonies for song that I right.

Where’s the “Save” button?. I really enjoy using Odesi, because it’s a quick simple and quick tool for creating melodic ideas. And exporting MIDI is really cool. However, when I try to export a project, after selecting the export location on my iPad, no “Save” button appears! So I work around that by simply choosing “Save to Documents.” Hopefully, Odesi will be upgraded soon to work with iPad 14+.

Total Money Grab. This product is a waste of your time. Don’t buy it, don’t even bother downloading it. I made contact with them in October of 2018 and nothing has changed. This is their official reply to my declaring, as a multi-product customer that in-app purchases are offensive: There are certainly pros and cons to in-app purchases. One of the pros being the ability to try before commiting to a large expense. App Store refunds are tricky so if you paid the full price for the app and didn't like it, it would be worse than trying it and deciding not to pay for the expanded functionality. — Update: Except I thought I had bought this, as a package deal with the desktop software, and expected a different experience based on the marketing that lured me in. I’m still waiting for an update that corrects this gross discourtesy. My experience with this app has even degraded my opinion of the desktop products and those have, as a consequence, fallen to disuse. I remain disappointed and I sometimes download the app again to see if anything has improved and I remain disappointed. I remain disappointed, and they remain paid. Buyer beware as seems to be the case these days relative to anything that has software. Someday an update is likely to arbitrarily break what you paid for.

Very well thought out. Well thought out, makes workflow.

Not ready for prime time. There are so many issues. In the 'pro' version only two scales major and minor No ability to use chords or notes out of scale 4 measures only really? The idea that 4 bars is a song is laughable. Limited choices in rhythm and pitch. So if you are happy making insipid little ditties that are predetermined this app is for you. On the plus side I did like the ability to tap out my own rhythm. I wish this feature existed in the desktop version. Sorry to have spent my money on another product that doesn’t inspire but instead frustrates.

Almost Great. I own Captain Chords and the desktop version of Odesi, both of which I love, but I must agree with the other reviewers who feel that this app is close but really lacking. The biggest frustration for me is being limited to just 4 bars when other free apps (such as Medly) allow one to make an extended sketch. I don’t really mind the limited instruments in the free version as I plan to import my sketches into the desktop version and will adjust the instruments there, but it would be nice to be able to easily link my iPhone version of this app with my iPad version, as well as a streamlined sync with the desktop version, so that I can have a better workflow. Being able to export MIDI for $5 isn’t bad as it’s nice to be able open it up in GarageBand iOS for further tweaking, but I’d like to be able to sketch out more than just 4 bars in Odesi Chords before going to another app. If the developers could add a longer time for the recordings, as well as easy syncing between their apps, I’d probably rate this 5 stars.

Freezing during export. I have the latest app,iOS,and iPhone and trying to export my midi after purchase. The app just freezes up and you have to close out the entire app. It doesn’t matter how many times I try. I just wanted my money. Thank you.

Nice app, but better if I can write more than 4 bars.. Nice app, but better if I can write more than 4 bars.

Not happy. Bought the full version but the iPad version does not recognise it so need to buy more things to export to midi.

Should be free for fully paid desktop users. I paid for the full desktop version (os x) right when it was first released and waited patiently for the mobile version. Well now that it is available, I also have to pay to unlock these features? Should be fully unlocked so we can seamlessly go from mobile to desktop with ease.

Limited to major or minor keys?. Nice idea but as the title suggests, when selecting keys, only seems to have major and minor.

Great start but needs work. I love odesi. I use it on my desktop as well as using the captain chords plugins. I wish this app would allow you to use odesi like the desktop version including editing midi notes, adding melodies etc. I would even pay for this if it was a premium feature. I'm always in the go and to be able to pull out my iPhone and start making and completing an idea so that when I arrive at the studio I can drive right into logic would be amazing. Another feature id love to see is being able to use odesi within GarageBand as an audio unit.

FINALLY.. Finally an easy app to teach you natural chord progressions, especially if you've had no training. A great help when learning music theory which for some reason is always left out of DAWs like Ableton or Logic and when you can't sit through another online course this is perfect. Love the MIDI export too. Mixed in Key crew does it again.

Just make a normal sequencer. First of all, I PAID for the full iMac version of this app and I'm still not sure it was worth even half of the price. This app, however, is so utterly frustrating, I can't believe how overly complex it is. Ok great, people who want to learn how to compose can press a button and it will help you make a song but if you have a specific tune in your head that you want to transcribe into sound? Good luck. You have every option under the sun except a bloody normal sequencer. Odesi crew, take a look at Fruity Loops and just make a simple version of that. That's all we want.

I look forward to improvements. What I see is great so far. I wish there is the ability to change the amount of measures a chord progression has.

Perfect app just a little fine tuning needed. I love the app and what it sets out to do. Very easy to use UI and the instruments provided ( I unlocked midi export and the bundle of paid instruments). I only have two points of concern. 1. The length of the loop should be extended atleast another measure of give us the option to extend it out a bit. 2. I purchased this on my iPhone and downloaded it to my iPad and none of what I purchased has transferred? Please add a restore purchases button ( unless I am completely missing where it is in the app)

I Love Odesi!!. This app is much easier to use and get a song going on iOS than on the Mac app which is web dependent. It's definitely better on a touch screen. Only draw back is that it only seems to be able to do 16 bars on the current iOS iteration of the app. Hope that changes soon so I can create full songs on the iPad. It would also be great to have a random song generator (truly random so that it's unique, but still in harmony).

Good. This app works so well I like it more than desktop version, just needs more depth. The rhythm creator is great!

Extended chords please...jazz chords. May be missing something, but there seems to be no 7ths 9ths etc?

Sooo much potential. It's a great app. I wish you could add more chords and other features etc. Would be crazy not to take app to the next level. At least add the ability to add more than 4 chords. Good luck

Crash City!. Crashes every time I go to export audio or midi. Not happy with it at all. Kinda just want my money back!

No Cross Platform Support. Don’t get me wrong, this is a great web application and worth the money.. through the web API. Unfortunately having spent considerable money on mixed in key and the Odesi application I was disgusted to find this abysmal attempt at price gauging for the same application I have already payed for in iOS. Where are my projects? Where is my saved files and ability to export on PC? This is trash and not worth a cent. The experience has completely soured me to MIK and Odesi

Decent. This is a decent app for throwing together a groove but so are a lot of other apps. It would be better if this had more functionality like the desktop version. I don’t really care much about variety of sounds but I want to be able to sketch an idea for a melody or be able to manually add/edit chords, bass, and drums instead of using preset rhythms.

Has potential, but..... The application has potential but at this stage it is quite limited. How about expanding the midi functionality, audiobus compatibility... Etc...

Perfect songwriting tool. Create great music particularly EDM. Just add vocals.

The missing element in my track writing process. I bought the full fledged version of Odesi a month or so ago. But I must say this limber straight ahead version running on my iPad has a heck of a lot going for it. I really happy with the stock sounds and it hones things down to what's important, the emotional feel of your chord progression. The custom rhythm feature is impressive by the way. Doing an hour train commute each day I am cranking out song ideas faster than Amadeus! Fellow passengers are bemused by the graphical interface. Beats struggling with a laptop and jam packed carriage. DJ's in waiting lounges everywhere will adore it. By the time I get over to my DAW ( Logic Pro X) The inspiration is already there and it's a pleasure to trial different soft synths running the chords and bass. Love it to bits!

$27.96, but In-App Purchases omitted from info. Get Sounds for $6.99(US?). Unlock Drum Kits 1 & 2 for $6.99($US?) each. Get MIDI Presets for $6.99 ($US?).

Amazing software. If a songwriter/producer uses this correctly it leads to "amazing ideas." Things that musically I may have thought of, are significantly friendlier on to tackle(on the go): beautiful ideas are made possible with odesi. If you have yet to try Odesi, I highly recommend using it to capture chord progressions on the fly. This honestly puts all of the other chord apps to shame. Thanks to the devs for making such an incredible/inspired product. I guarantee tons of successful producers will be using it to conjure up hits for years to come.

Maybe good 5 years ago. Don’t get confused this is not a free app they expect you to pay 30$ for full functionality of an app that is seriously lacking . Disappointing won’t be buying the desktop app after this bad experience.

Great songwriting tool and app!. I'm really happy with the app! It really does such a good job at doing what it's supposed to do. The app allows me to easily come up so many different combinations of chords, rhythms, bass lines, and beats that I can use as songwriting ideas. The app runs really smoothly and it looks beautiful too. It's very good as it is. I don't know if it would make the app a bit more complicated/messy but the option to add a melody would even more perfectly meet my songwriting needs as sometimes my head.

Good idea, but.... Update: Seriously? Still charging 28$ US for full unlock on an app that’s lacking refinement. STILL waiting for some refinement, and realistic add on prices. Locked into 4/4 time Boring single note bass note Lack of customizability, you're locked into using presets Locked into 4 bar loops The add ones are ridiculously priced. This is a basic toy, not a composition tool. Pass on this one till they do better.

I wish it were compatible with older iOS. A lot my software is cracked unfortunately so I can't update but it would be dope if you guys made a version compatible with an older version of iOS

Super cool. This is an amazing app. Super cool for exploring chords and experimenting with different harmonic ideas. It has a ton of chord progressions to jam to. There's also a really interesting rhythm system to get the chords grooving just the way you like. Try it out you won't be sorry.

Stellar. So simple, so easy to use. Been using MIK products for a while and I'm really pleased with how Odesi has turned out. Really fun to use, and allows me to create really catchy tunes with ease.

Very Limiting If You Want To Stay in iOS.. Not really very useful without AUDIOBUS , AudioShare and InterAppAudio support. Very basic. I bought the instrument pack (sounds are average/not very inspiring). And it doesn't appear to have a piano-roll editor (or any real tweaking for that matter). I am hoping for future features or I will delete.

mesmerized. Odesi has taken my dreams to fruition. I feel in love. I know I'm going somewhere. My mom will believe I me now.

Great start, still buggy. The app idea is fantastic, extremely useful (for music writing and learning, potentially) and the ease of use is amazing but it is still a bit buggy. One specific example: if I go to a "i" chord in C minor, Odesi will play major (sometimes) even though I have clearly selected "i" and not "I". This still makes it a useful music making tool, but the mistakes would need to be corrected in a DAW. Please fix it :)

Great tool for quick ideas!. I love this tool! I started using this app to quickly jot down ideas when I'm out on the streets or somewhere far away from my studio. I can easily make an arrangement wherever I'm at and export the MIDI when I get to my studio and continue working from there! It's amazing!

Making music at any moment. I'm just beginning my career in making music and this easy to use app has been very helpful.

Amazing Mobile App!. Been testing this app, it's amazing what it does on mobile!

Simply genius!!!. Creativity has found its match. Great tool for fun and for pro songwriting. Thank you!!!

Great sketch tool. I was able to mock up 2 decent musical ideas in under 10 minutes of my first use of the app I'd say that's a good tool!

Desktop is better. The desktop app is way better, granted this is a simplified version, adding the melody line would be nice for the mobile... But still a good sketch tool regardless

Innovative. Amazing way to quickly and easily bring your song ideas to life!

Revolutionary Song Writing App. This app has revolutionized the way I write melodies and chord progressions. It has become an essential tool that I use to start writing songs.

Very nice! But I hope for.... I hope that this apps paid features will be included for the people who bought the full version for Mac. That would be nice.

Fun app. Curious to see how complex it becomes as new versions roll out.
