The Jerusalem Bible. Back in or around 1985 I got my first Jerusalem Bible while I was in the Seminary. Since that year I’ve carried around everywhere I go. It is strongly easy to read, follow and to understand. Currently with this digital version is also very easy to follow too. Thank you for keeping up on updating it. Eduardo, California.

Lost in space!. It seems that the developers abandoning their work! This app becomes orphaned, can’t activate any features, especially removing ads! All comments are at least 3 years old.

Jerusalem Bible. I have used the Jerusalem Bible for more than 45 years (first the original French translation, then the English translations). As a Greek scholar I was particularly interested with the updated Greek text of the New Testament (which incorporated variant readings from different text traditions other than manuscripts that had been used in 19th and early 20th Greek texts of scripture. Having the modern language translations (French and English) of this updated text in the form of the Bible de Jerusalem / Jerusalem Bible was wonderful for teaching scripture and theology classes. And the notes that accompanied the French text represented state of the art scholarship. And it was wonderful not having to deal with archaic texts like the King James and Douay-Rheims when one simply wanted to do personal spiritual reading.

Love it!. I was so glad to find this app! My favorite translation. Easy to navigate too.

Want to like it but..... 1. Can’t upgrade to get rid of ads. 2. Can’t highlight more than one verse to copy. 3. Can’t contact developer except through Facebook; I don’t use Facebook. I’d like to like this app and pay the app developer. Alas, it isn’t easy.

Jerusalem Bible : Roman Catholic version. Travis Hopper I have one of the original hard back copies of this translation ; since 1990 ; and have used it many times ever year ; this down load is not the original ; by comparing what is written in my hard copy to this down load and there is absolutely nothing that compares at all ; also most of the time I use my hard copy for the comparative verses listed in the margins ; as Paul told us that one verse is not an interpretation of it self ; those are not there ; and I use the foot notes for further help and they are not there as well ! I can not give this any stars as these APP PUBLISHERS ARE SCAMMERS ON THIS APP ! I have not checked out the other download from them : everyone please contact APPLE COPS AND REPORT !!!!!!!!!

Not the Jerusalem Bible!. This not the Jerusalem Bible text, it is different than the hard copy of the 1966 Jerusalem Bible that I compared it with!

New Jerusalem Bible. Please note this is NOT the 1966 Jerusalem translation but the New Jerusalem 1985 English version. It may be just a title oversight since this is a newly released app. To their credit this publisher offers great apps well worth having and only small non- interfering commercials. Check the others: there is already a NJB with audio as well.

NOT the 1966 Jerusalem Bible. Per the previews shown here, this is the 1985 NEW Jerusalem Bible, which uses restrained gender-inclusive language. What gives it away here is that it reads "a divine wind" and not "the Spirit of God" is sweeping or hovering over the waters.

1985 version NOT the original 1966. This is the New Jerusalem Bible NOT YHR ORIGINAL 1966 version. It has been neutered with PC verbiage.

Computerized Voices. Disappointing. The layout is great. The indexing is right. There’s an obvious way to present the Bible. Lots of people do this well. But what I’ve wanted is an audio version, well read and well produced. Hearing this computerized reading is soulless. Scouting and useless. Deleted the app.

Truth in advertising please. Good app, but I have two gripes. (1) “No ads” should mean what it says. Why is Google putting banner ads at the bottom of every page? (2) This is the NJB, not the JB. A Bible app presenting the word of God can't begin with two misstatements of fact.

Truly GREAT APP !! EXCEPT for ‘SEARCH’ BUG , will it be fixed ?. This app with it’s easy and clean and useful and up-to-date features and visual appeal, is exceptional, truly, hands down. It’s a 5-star app except for this: One problem which is a big problem for research •I search •get my search results list •select an item from the list •read the item •go back to the list •the list is gone The app does not retain the search argument or the search results list. Multiple items cannot be chosen from it. It is necessary to start over each time, to re-enter the search argument, to select multiple items from the list. When dealing with a long search results list, this bug involves a lot of retyping, losing my place on the list, and a lot of re-scrolling to get back to where I was formerly in the list. It’s pretty daunting for research, inhibiting actually. Do you plan to fix this? Please know I will monitor your upgrades and will happily change my rating to the deserved 5 stars when/if fixed.

Old Testament. God’s name is primarily used in the Old Testament & frequently. The use of the Hebrew spelling, Yahweh, in an all English Bible, is ridiculous & only serves to mislead the reader. It’s been said that this is the most accurate spelling & that out of respect for the divine name, the English spelling, Jehovah, should be avoided. However, this is flawed reasoning. The purpose of having the Bible in your own language is to promote understanding. Who uses Hebrew words in their lives? No one, unless you’re Jewish! Furthermore, Yahweh cannot possibly be the correct spelling because the vowel between the two consonants, H & W, is missing. You must have the consonant letters separated by a vowel. Many people do not know that God has a personal name. Is Jehovah the absolute correct spelling & pronunciation? No one knows for sure. But, it’s considered to be a reasonable way to identify the NAME in English, the main language for the world instead of disguising it, actually obscuring it, in the Hebrew language.

Great app of a great translation. I’m not Roman Catholic but I am a Follower of my Lord And Savior Jesus the Messiah. TJB has always been one of my favorite translations because it’s accurate (it’s easy to ignore and overlook obvious doctrinal biases when they occasionally appear), it’s hasn’t been dumbed down but actually challenges the reader to study and pray about what God is saying. Unfortunately, the publishers have never updated the font in its print form. I don’t know why but to keep publishing “photocopies” of the original edition, which has always been difficult to read, is now nearly impossible for me to read because the font is so small and the spacing so cramped. That’s why I love this app. I can make the font bigger or smaller and adjust the spacing. Thank you, Oleg, for bring back TJB to me!

Not Roman Catholic. The format is nice, but it does not have the Apocrypha chapters of Esther that the modern RC Bible designates as A thru E. It is exactly like the new Jerusalem Bible

Jerusalem Buble. Easy to find readings and the print is large enough to read too.

Ads free doesn’t seem to be an option. The Bible is great, but I can’t find a way to buy it ad free.

Missing Books. Neither the index nor the content appear to include Maccabees 1 and 2.

Voice quality. The American voice quality is not good!!

NOT the Jerusalem Bible. Change its name to “New Jerusalem Bible”. Counter to the app description, this 1985 translation is NOT approved for Catholic worship (except with special bishops’ permission). The original 1966 Jerusalem Bible is LOTS better.

This is New Jerusalem 1985. The passages I checked are from New Jerusalem Bible (1985) not Jerusalem(1966). This App is Ok but the other NJB had more features. Try both as they are free versions. I'll keep looking for the 1966 JB.

Jerusalem Bible. It is easily accessible through the menu. The language is close to the church’s liturgy. Overall, it’s great.

This is not Jerusalem Bible but NEW JERUSALEM BIBLE!. I have checked out the passages and this is clearly not the 1966 Jerusalem Bible but is the New Jerusalem Bible. Please update this to the New Jerusalem Bible. In different ways it is the superior translation with certain errors removed which is why I am keeping it. The only big negative with the New Jerusalem Bible is it has inclusive language and it times is a bit heavy with this which then can lose its exact original meaning. Great to have it as a free app!

User friendly. Would love the option of being able to print out individual books or pages. This app is really user friendly and easy to mark and makes notes and find what I need.

Not the readings used in Mass. As others have said this is not the Jerusalem Bible (JB) but the New Jerusalem Bible (NJB). It is not used as the readings for mass as stated in the description. Great free bible, but if you want one to use in mass this is not the version for you. Also the US I believe uses the NAB in their mass readings not the JB.

ILIKE TRANSLATION EVER SINCE I HEARD J.R.R.TOLKIN TRANSLATED THE BOOK OF JOB. I always prefer this translation since Vatican II I find this app to be fine all texts from the book of Kell to King James Version are to glorify God

The buttons don't work.. Good translation of the Bible, I start a year the reading plan but it would not work. so I thought maybe I had to buy. Nope, basically nothing works. You can read, change font or hit a very bad Computer voice recording.
