A waste of my time. I honestly just regret wasting so much time uploading images just for them not to be approved for things that have absolutely no relevance to the image it’s self. Example: image with a clear and noticeable focal point that is in focus - you can identify details effortlessly with in the image - color correction is on point - composition is fitting for subject - image was not overly compressed or adjusted in post - they will then sit there and not approve it for being out of focus yet every single other sites I have used had no issue with this with the same images. I sell my photography as prints regularly, never once had the issues I’m having with shutterstock. Such a waste of my time. Who ever or what ever does the reviewing process failed miserably and I’m not bothering with it again. Too much work. Found a better option. 👍🏻

Most diversified Photo Agency. No mattter the subject of my extensive photo archives, famous people, international travel, architecture or food details, Shutterstock comments, approvals and rejections all make good sense and motivate me to submit many varieties in either B&W or Color dating back some 50 years of work. Couldn’t upload photo. I tried many times to upload my photo but the app kept making me fail due to redundant keywords. When i was uploading my photo it says that I can add up to 50 keywords so I did 49 and hit the submit and failed message appeared. So i cut half of my keywords and saved submitted again but still kept failing. Then restarted app tried again failed again. Decided to decrease my keywords to 10 but still kept showing me redundant keywords message. Then visited help center which says app uploading process may delayed so I could try some time later. I tried an hour later again and still failing to submit my photo. That’s what it is.

A waste of time and effort.. The app came up in a job listing as a website. So I wondered if it was an app and, sure enough, it was. So I downloaded it because it would be easier for me to use than a website. The good thing about this app is that I can work on multiple photos at a time; like while one is being loaded onto the app I can type a description and such for a photo that’s already loaded. I went onto it once I got the notification that my photos have been reviewed, expecting that all of my photos would be ok. (considering that I have NO nudity, gore, brand names, or anything else that could be bad in any of the photos) However, this was not the case. I had uploaded 17 photos and all of them got rejected for reasons that didn’t seem to apply to my photos. I even had one that said I had a logo in it, when I didn’t. Then, right afterward, I went into the reviews of the app to see if this is a common occurrence. Apparently it is, and it really frustrates me. I’ve also read that this app doesn’t even give you much money for the photos that actually work. Overall, don’t buy this app.

Difference of opinions. I had several images declined for reasons I disagreed with and I had no way to dispute them. Images that it was said to have visible trademarks in them did not and images were taken exactly the way they were intended to were rejected in what I can only call a difference of opinion. But they have no way to dispute their opinions. So whether you submit an image as you want it to be viewed the sites opinion can differ wildly.

Photo Approval. I feel like it’s extremely difficult to get photos approved based on posterization among other reasons. Most everyone uses photo editing tools to enhance brilliance or any other defects that occur based on the fact many of these photos are currently being taken on iPhones or other smart phones which have the ability to capture great picture now a days. I understand if the photo is inferior based on megapixels but I have a hard time understanding how 80-90% of the photos are rejected for other reasons than that when I am able to sell the same photos I am providing to you which I blew up to a 20 x 30 and looked great quality wise. Thank you for your time. Regards Loïc

Automated crap. The App uses some algorithm that expects every part of the picture to be perfectly in focus. So you can't have any lens flares, no blurry backgrounds. So you can't get creative and make anything unique... It won't even let me upload a close up of a cat face. The cat is black and white so it thinks the photo is under or over exposed, Yet the picture is perfectly in focus. And don't try any filters or camera tricks because it won't allow those either. The A.I this uses is complete garbage... and I had such hopes for it too.

What type of system do you people have?. Why are photos being rejected for not being “descriptive enough” or, “don’t explain the subject?” Or “it isn’t written in English” when it is! I am very annoyed by this I tried to upload my first photo which was a heart, that was burning in a blue flame. I put the description as “Blue burning heart symbolizing not all hearts break immediately, they slowly burn.” Which was definitely descriptive enough. Please just review your broken approval system.

Not very useful. There is a very low approval rate for images, and they get rejected for all sorts of reasons, some of which don’t even apply. One photo I submitted got rejected for one, very specific, reason. I fixed the issue and resubmitted it. The second time it got rejected for two new issues. This wouldn’t be a huge problem if you actually made a decent amount of money from the photos that do get accepted, but you really don’t. I’ve never made any money off the photos they’ve accepted, even after being up for months. If you want the possibility to earn a few cents after submitting hundreds of photos over the course of months, go for it. But if you want to use it to make money, look elsewhere.

I intentionally submitted a grainy picture, they labeled it out of focus. Don’t go here. Please take this from someone who does this all day long… Shutterstock is the worst of the worst when it comes to stock footage websites. They used to be reasonable but when they had a merger few months back everything has gone down hill. I am on 13 stock photo websites including exclusive ones. I used to think dreamstime was the worst but that changed over last few months. Shutter has been rejecting more and more photos for reasons that don’t make sense. I will put that same picture on other markets with no issues. I will take that same photo, resubmit it, and have no issues. I don’t make any changes to it. The review team is incredibly inconsistent and I’m pretty sure has no sense of what they are doing. I have complained. I have… they don’t care. Customer service said they are changing policies too much and that could be why. Apparently that makes sense to them… I intentionally submitted a grainy picture… they labeled it out of focus.

Just one big THANK YOU. When I started a few years ago with an active job about photography and illustrations. The big dilemma has always been to do business locally with some store or online, through the Stock Agency ... By analyzing the market, I found that ShutterStock is the best agency for me. I am here, we have been mourning for mutual satisfaction for many years and I am using this opportunity to thank you. Just keep up. Thank you for hanging with Us.

Just Average. I’d give this app another star or two if Shutterstock provided an option to view it on a black background with white text. The app was much easier for me to read before Shutterstock “upgraded” to the current white background with black text. Lots of contributors complained & asked for the option, but a year later, here we are still waiting.

Works but could be improved. In general it is great to be able to upload, work on and submit the photos directly from the phone, especially for those contributing phone photos. However, the photos can only be uploaded one by one. It would be great if there was a possibility to submit multiple photos at the same time.

Only 20% of uploads hit the portfolio. No luck so far. They kick back about 2/3 of your photos just for having similar titles, and then the ones that do successfully upload only half make it in the portfolio. I’d say you will go through over an hour worth of effort to upload and describe 30 photos. Wait 3 days, 10 get approved, 5 make it in the portfolio. No one buys them or sees them. Seems like a scam.

Delete account. I began the registration to become a contributor however I am not comfortable with sending in a photo of my personal ID/passport. After finding the only way to deactivate my account was to go to the Contact Us page and having none of the links work this is my last step. :/ Why you actually need a picture of my photo ID with all of my personal information is a little risky. Makes me feel like it’s a scam. It may not be but I’m not taking the chance.

The app is good, but Shutterstock?. Have uploaded a couple times in there only to get a message back stating that my descriptions were not accurate pertaining to the images supplied. I assure you, the descriptions are accurate. If Shutterstock reviewers were at each location, that would be one thing, but I highly doubt they were. That being said, the concept of this app is pretty cool, but Shutterstock blanket-flagging my images stating that the descriptions were inaccurate after the extreme amount of time I wasted to coordinate all the information and upload, I’ll just market my images elsewhere where more care will be given to the review process. Thanks for wasting my time, Shutterstock. Good riddance.

They must have let all there best staff go and kept all the idiots to review the pictures. This used to get a great site to sell photos, but they seem to only have idiots reviewing photos now. Probably not enough staff left or the only staff left are idiots. Basically I’m using shutterstock for the second time after previously deleting my old account. I’ve tried uploading my old photos from my old account only to have tons and tons of photos rejected that had been previously been accepted on my old account, and not only that made a lot of money too. Seriously think either shutterstock don’t want my photos to sell and earn money, or COVID-19 meant they had to lay off all their best staff, and kept all the idiot Mong’s who are being paid in buttons. Absolutely clown outfit of a company

Dissatisfied. Went to broadcasting school and wanted to upload some pictures but every single pic I uploaded was rejected. I’m not a pro in any field but thought it would be something I would enjoy and was very dissatisfied and disappointed in the service because of over 60 rejections. I even tried dating pics from Google pics and I use an IPhone 12 Pro but everything was sent back as an error or blur even art images created as effects. This is not a user friendly app for just anyone it is only for true photographers and professionals in the photo industry I think.

Thanks, however.... Whatever automated review process this app uses is often off the mark. “Main image is out of focus” comes up a lot for photos that are CLEARLY in PERFECT focus. It’s is quite annoying. They say to just resubmit if you don’t agree with a rejection, but land sakes, it’s far too *tyme consuming to resubmit all the pictures they reject for highly invalid reasons!

Way better than the website. As a new contributor I found the website somewhat cumbersome and difficult to use. This app makes it so easy to upload pictures photos and track my portfolio.

Mason C.. Hi, I recently started and I am a contributor and I just had some ideas the would make other contributors more efficient. One of the ideas was about the sets I know can see the sets but I wish we could put photos on that set and edit them. It would save a lot of time by not going online. The last idea I had was to see like how many images are pending on approval and stuff like that. I would like it to be more like the online version. I hope you make these changes shortly. :)

Good but not great. Convenient uploading images on the go. However, the latest update doesn’t display well on the iPhone (keywords are abbreviated in a strange way). No support for video uploads for some reason. It does notify you when you have downloads and have earned some money, however, it is delayed from real time.

More work than it’s worth. After uploading, writing captions, keywording, etc. for a number of images they were all rejected not for image quality but because of the captions. In this instance, instead of giving the option to edit the caption the resubmit, the app forces a complete do-over. Besides being an experienced photographer, I am also a writer, and a QA Engineer, so I’m not sure what the problem was with the captions. I decided to no longer upload images rather than do so much work for pennies.

Easy to use, makes earning a breeze!. Simple to use app, easy to understand and navigate, also easy to see how your photos are doing and how much you’re earning. It’s actually fun to use!

Low Approval Odds for Photos. I’m giving this 3 stars for the app. As far as photo approval odds, 1 or no stars. I’ve wasted my time submitting over 30 photos and none of them have been approved for various reasons. Some of these same photos were approved by Adobe, who I’ve actually had success with in getting paid. So I think I’ll just stick with them and not waste any more of my time here. I only gave it a try because it was highly rated and I wanted to try and broaden my exposure, so to speak. It looks like others have enjoyed success here with their photo submissions and I’m happy to see that. I guess this platform just isn’t for me.

Good challenge for photographers. Only 25 cents per picture usually. However it’s been a great learning curve and challenge to understand what people are looking for to purchase. Usually shutterstock helped me become a better photographer.

Works good most of the time. It seems that the access and features come and go, other than that I have enjoyed the ability to look at recent sales... when they are updating properly. I wish the app did more in the way of showing my portfolio activity.

SS Screws Contributors. Shutterstock is one a handful of stock agencies that have done all they can to make money at the expense of their contributors. Their aggressive pricing over the last couple of decades has done irreparable damage to the stock photo industry. In most cases, they pay photographers $0.10 when they license an image. Yes you read that correctly, 10 cents. Put another way, you need to license 1000 photos to make $100. Ouch.

Low approval. I have been submitting to Shutterstock for several years with no problem. Always approved. Now, each time I submit they will find something wrong with my images. All of this after they merge with other entity. I have discontinued submitting to their site. In fact I have use Alamy for years with good result. The same images I submit to Shutterstok with no rejection. I will be using Alamy for now on.

High Unapproved Rating. Too many pics don’t get approved because the title is not descriptive enough, or supposedly not in english, even though it is. Or title doesn’t describe the image. We are artists, we title a picture how we feel like it should be titled. As a creator, song writer, photographer, producer, it just bothers me that a majority of my pictures get declined because of the title.. It should be based on the quality of the photo, not the title or description. Two people could see the same image and title it and describe it in two different ways.. and I don’t see a rename title or rewrite a description feature to update it once it gets declined. I just get frustrated because most of my pictures get declined for the wrong reasons. Very few seem to have legitimate reasons to be declined.

Some evaluations not accurate. Some of the evaluations are not accurate. Focus being the biggest one. Copyrights and trademarks being strictly enforced I get completely but some of the pictures rejected for being out of focus are spot on. Having said that I would say overall this is a great app and well designed.

Doesn’t Deserve One Star. Uploaded great content for nature and outdoors. They rejected them all. Funny thing is I get more compliments on my nature outdoor photos on other platforms than this place. It’s been an automatic reject. Like how? Sure my photos are from my phone, and their easy to see. I will be deactivating my account, don’t waste your time on a company that can’t take your photos serious. All the hard work you put in is not worth then saying it needs this and doesn’t have that. Every photo we do is our own art. People that may work for them don’t understand that.

Not great. Not terrible.. I only use this to review my sales and to put in the tags and other info prior to submitting if I haven't had a chance to do that from my computer. I always upload from my laptop, but then again, I don't upload pictures I took with my phone because they just aren't very good. I tend to use the app for quick reviews of sales and go through safari on my phone if I really want to see info on the go. The app is lacking and the full site has much richer content and is way easier to use. I still have the app and use it so that's why it gets three stars. If there was way more info and a better way to view your photos, sales, analytics, etc. then I would be pretty excited. Add more info please!

Useless. I downloaded it twice now and deleted it because every time I upload a pictures they always get denied because it’s out of focus or to much background noise or all kinds of other things are wrong with my pictures according to them even if I’m using a stand to hold my phone or an actual camera it still says I have too much noise or shaking or it’s out of focus even if the main item is right in the middle of the shot they still disapprove it ugh never trying it again

Basics are good but lots of UX issues. Overall the app is a great idea. Yet, lots of problems still. Would say this is a MVP at best. 1. Let me work on more than 10 pictures at the time. 2. Let me copy keywords. 3. Let me not just save multiple at the time but also submit them all at once. UX on this is pretty disappointing. 4. App crashes frequently or tries to upload for several days (not a network issue, other apps uploading don’t have issues and tested connection) saying “starting upload...” as it is loading...for hours per picture. 5. Why can’t I change profile settings (such as payment details) in the app? It’s always opening a browser window. If I keep getting redirected to the website I can just use my browser from the start and skip the app. Please take this feedback into consideration and make some serious improvements to the app, for the benefit of you (Shutterstock) and me (user/customer). Would be very appreciated!

Unnecessary additional compression to photos. I check every photo I intend to upload before I do so, so I don’t get a photo not approved with a “subject not in focus” explanation when I get it back. I uploaded a picture to see if it changed the quality and sure enough, it did. And not just by a little. I took two screenshots of the same photo: one in the photos app of my tablet, and one in the Contributor app. The screenshot I took while I was in the photos app of my tablet was zoomed in quite a bit more than the one in the contributor app and was nearly crystal clear still while the one in the app was clearly blurry. If this gets addressed I may update my review. Until then, I’ll use something else.

Strict Upload Requirements. App is smooth and you can upload many photos at once which is nice. But the review process is absolutely brutal. I submitted 15 photos and ONE was approved. The reasons given were for a blurry photo, or not optimal lighting etc. Which just wasn’t the case at all. It seems i’m not the only one with this experience and it appears the dev responses are automated so I doubt it’ll be addressed. Uninstalled

Great for uploads on the go. I went 4 stars only because the app is little limited. Otherwise I am very satisfied! PRO: The huge advantage IS being able to upload while on the road. As long as you have wifi or data, it works well. I have heard some people think it is compressing images, but when I double check on my computer, they look fine to me! That could be their device settings, not the app. It also updates earnings and sales, sometimes before I even get notification of a sale on my phone. Phone is set for notifications and not my iPad. Just an FYI, notifications seemed to blank out volume in spots when shooting video footage! CON: Does not have all the options of the browser version. I wish I could move photos to the published folders on the app! Still logging in computer for management.

Approval rate. Worst app I have every used. Not one photo out of the 1000 of stock photos I tried to take with a 48 megapixel camera got accepted. Gave last try recently with some beach photos thinking it be the easiest to get accepted but no my account now got disabled. Every photo I see on they're market are not real true photos they are heavily edited. So I decided to replicate it by heavily editing it to make it bright but guess what got flagged for being to grainy. I give up with this platform.

Uploaded pictures are downgraded. So I’ve made several attempts to submit some pictures online and using this app. So far, all my pictures got rejected due to noise/grain, etc. I took the time to pull up the pictures that were uploaded and compared it to the original on my phone and computer. It appears that during the upload either the picture is compressed or converted to their proprietary format because the uploaded pictures are definitely not as crisp and clear and have more jaggies and “noise” then the originals. If this happens at upload then how in the heck is someone is even able to submit anything besides massive 10G or bigger sized files without being rejected? What a waste of time.

Decent Contributor. I’ve been a contributor with ShutterStock for a couple years now. It has its ups and downs and I haven’t quite figured out how to get consistent sales yet even with a couple thousand photos. But, sometimes I hit it big and sometimes I make 37 cent. It’s fun, easy, and only soaks up as much time in a day or week as I personally want it too which makes doing this convenient. That said, I wish ShutterStock would change a few things just to be a bit more consistent on pricing. Otherwise, the app itself works great.

Review. Funny that I am getting identical refusals on completely unrelated pics. Also the pics I see on your site don't resemble what I am submitting! Why are they distorted when they are refused? Just curious!

Image Guidelines. I’m giving this three stars because some of the guidelines of a clear image are absolutely ridiculous. An image taken on a phone isn’t always going to be 100% clear. I mean, images that have literally any obstruction weather it be clouds or other things get rejected even though it’s a good picture. I apologize for not having the funds to afford a $3000 camera and $2000 worth of equipment for a “perfect” picture.

Very user friendly app. Fantastic app. Very intuitive and user friendly. But I wish I could ‘serch’ or change order of images in my portfolio.

Literally useless. I’ve honestly gave this app a couple tries meaning three or four and I really really want to like the idea of this style app especially as a photo journalist and a photographer who has a full-time business but the problem is for me getting an image approved and l no matter what image I sent them they say that it’s either copyright ,there is noise ,it’s out of focus etc. Lol I guess this is the last tryJust to see if it would work this time but now every single image I try to upload failed. I mean how can you have noise when you’re shooting with Leica q or a 5D Mark III on L series lenses in broad daylight at ISO 100 it doesn’t happen lol

It works fine, but. . .. The app is great for submitting new photos after I have uploaded from my desktop, and checking your activity, it is easy to use, it allows you to see your portfolio, but it does not allow you to make any changes in the portfolio, or add or delete keywords. I find it easer to use the app for submitting images.

Website is still better. I like the design and it’s pretty fluid but it’s much easier to check on the website for things like recent sales and top performers. Also when you add editorial content it doesn’t remind you that descriptions must include city state and date

Approvals don’t make sense. I have uploaded hundreds and hundreds of photos to this app. Up until recently, the majority of them were approved. Lately, I can’t get any approvals, and some of the photos are spectacular. I wish I could actually speak to the person that continually rejects my submissions so I can understand their logic (or lack thereof). Also, some of my photos have sold, which is really cool. I have to wonder though, how are the payouts determined? Some sell for more than others, so I’m really curious what dictates the price differences. Overall, the app, and the business are a great idea, but the constant rejections is going to cause me to stop trying to upload my work.

Simple and Easy. Easy to upload my photos and submit for review. Get notifications when my context has been reviewed and am able to see clearly what was approved and what wasn’t.

Sell your photos. For those wishing to make a little side money on their hobby of photography , contributor by shutter stock is one avenue. However their strict standards can be quite annoying. Must have a release for so many things : public buildings like Eiffel Tower, or even someone’s home. Peoples faces that can be recognized also requires release. Brand names like Coke or McDonalds require release. So far only made a few dollars with some photos. Will continue uploading more photos and see if there can be small compensation for my time and efforts.

not stable, it crashes all the time. not stable, it crashes all the time, I am using the last ios version

Useful ap. I mainly use this ap to check my sales. I use my pc to upload photos. When it works it’s fantastic. Sometimes there is a lag of several days between photo sales and the ap updating. According to the numbers tally, I have made 7 sales in the last few days but none of the sold photos have appeared. I have had to go to the Shutterstock website to check which of my photos have sold, which is the main reason I have this ap.

Sad Day. On May 26th Shutterstock suddenly gave its contributors a 6 day notice that they would cut their earning by 60%. They sent an unclear, haphazard communication (with one correction mail hours later) on how they would screw over the very people who make the content you love. Buyers : Please take your business to Adobestock, their fair payouts mean you'll always have beautiful up to date images Contributors : Disable your portfolio on 1st Jun and send a mail to Adobe telling that you've done so. Ensure you spread the word

No access to video information. I’m shocked no one has mentioned that this app is completely useless to those who are uploading and wanting to monitor stock video clips. No information or acknowledgement within the app that your video even exists. Please add video support.

Wrong previews. It seems to me that some of the previews on photos from your so called experts are completely wrong! I have submitted over 40 photos and some come back with the comment that it is not in focus and this is not the case others come back saying there is noise or other interference again this is not correct! If you are going to use a program to do the previews then it needs to be updated as the software is not giving the right answer

Company refuses to delete portfolio. After giving three months’ notice and removing all of their licensing rights even before that, Shuttertock still refuse to delete my portfolio, where it is easily added to a buyer’s cart. If you’re a new contributor try Stocksy or Pond5 - they have ethics!

Victor. The app is vastly limited and borderline useless.

Easy. This app is easy to follow and allows you to keep track of your earnings

Took contributors livelihood. Unfortunately just another money-making machine, unfortunately on the back of contributors. I couldn’t give 0 stars.

Not working very well. The activity section never updates anymore. So no more notifications either. Partially fixed Now I don't see rejections Also just had 100 images rejected because the model releases don't upload.

Tedious. Sign up process is super tedious. Wants me to verify my email yet by the time the verification email arrives in my inbox the link is expired.

so pickey on what photos go up. this app review feature is honestly the worst i have ever seen, i attepted to upload 12 different images and it went from saying a few have grain when i checked literally over the enitire photo and nothing and one of them even mentioned me showing brand logos which i did do but whats even the point of this when you have to scribble out over the original picture just because theres a logo like the entire setup of this app is terrible

Useless. Useless app doesn’t even accept a photo

Don’t download. Terrible app, doesn’t accept photos for the weirdest reasons, don’t even waste your time on it

Great if it worked properly.. Good idea but many sales never show up in the app. The last few sales do not show at all. This has been happy ending a lot.

Useless do not use. Over 40 images submitted just of nature good pics that have sold elsewhere and they reject all of them

App is useless. Download EyeEm!. This app is completely useless and has way too high expectations. I was able to post high quality photos that are good on EyeEm and this app wouldn’t accept any of the huge amount I posted. I studied photography for 3 years and work with photographers. So this app is completely useless

Very difficult to post pictures. Its very difficult to post pictures

Suspect Algorithm. Generic feedback to every image reviewed. Poor first impression but will soldier on to see if the experience gets better.

Makes it easy to submit. I’m a stay at home mum of two young children and I love being able to submit images easily from my phone. I simply upload from the comp, keyword from the phone. I wish there was a couple of other features, but still great. Thanks shutterstock!

Mainly useful. This app is useful to quickly check Shutterstock stats but can be subject to delays at times.

Great way to showcase photos. Very easy to use. Also useful for selecting pictures that are in focus, with the added bonus of selling them

Pointless. I wish I could have given this a better rate but I can’t. When I first signed up I was super excited that I can put up pictures that I’ve taken myself & edited & earn $$$ if downloaded but after FINALLY being able to see the pics that I have uploaded on my activity after a wk of uploading- I found that a lot of my photos were rejected. Some I understood but for some I don’t. They are street photography & yet they are rejected. These were taken in public. I was proud of those pics that you guys rejected such a let down. The only pic that was approve wasn’t even that great. Such a let down I think I’m better off sticking with EyeEm. There’s too many restrictions with u guys. Disappointed.

Photographers AVOID. Hello creative photographers - the person who does the final check should be mental . Out of 8 photos 3 were approved which I thought were just ok and all 5 best photos were rejected. Pls avoid this platform and find somewhere else to sell you precious creation .

Terrible company. Terrible company. They have just cut commissions in half for contributors with 6 days notice during a global pandemic. They also make up false reasons to not accept footage. Do not submit to them

Great for travelling photographer. Good for uploading photos when I’m travelling. However, you can’t batch them into or manage public sets. Otherwise, a great app and highly recommended for Shutterstock Contributors!!

Unable to publish any photos. All photos that were uploaded were rejected. The reason was because they were out of focus. They were not out of focus. Not a good app, look elsewhere and don’t waste your time.

Nice app. Easy to use and to navigate. Nice app.

photo not approved. photo not approved

App easier than on the website. The website keyword selection has changed and is very awkward but the app one is great

Lacking in features.... The app is decent in terms of visuals and layout but it is severely lacking in features. It allows you to upload new images, view images in your portfolio, informs you when a newly uploaded image has been rejected or approved and when an image in your portfolio has been sold, and gives you stats on which images have been sold and how many sales you’ve had in a given day or month. What it doesn’t do is allow you to edit the descriptions of, add or remove tags from, or delete images from your portfolio, view detailed stats about your sales (for instance, what part of the world the sale originated from), view approved videos in your portfolio, and change settings in your account. This app could be so much more if it incorporated more of the functionality found on the desktop website. The way it is right now, it’s only good for checking up on what you’ve uploaded image-wise and how many sales you’ve had in a given day or month.

Pretty good with some difficuties. The app works well on my iPad. There are some photos that don’t seem to transfer properly and I have to resubmit using my computer. Wishing we could reuse tags on photos as it is time-consuming to reenter tags on submission. But they’re quick to respond and the client service is very good.

Don't understand. I don't understand why everytime I go to submit photos from my iPhone it says "sorry photos must be at least 4.0 megapixels" my photos are all 18+ megapixels so what is the issue here? Please fix this

Ugh. Standards too picky. Every other pic gets rejected. Actually ridiculous.

Unfair company practices. with short notice they cut contrib royalties by about 50%. that leave contrib as near slaves. i would recommend taking your business to adobe. they have a fair royalty for contributos

The photo stock game is a joke.. Before the proliferation of cell phone images, the renumeration for photo images was reasonable sometimes excellent. Today it is a joke at .25 cents sometimes a little more. Don’t expect anything but pocket change even if you have 10000 images.

Terrible.. None of my pictures ranging from landscape views to household items got approved for submission. The app doesn’t specifically tell you what types of pictures to upload. Wouldn’t recommend.

Finally, it’s great. Last version works very well.

Very restricted. Can’t upload a single pic this app has many issues very restricted

App way outdated. Not a single update for 11 months and it shows. The app glitches out and many images get stuck on “Starting to upload” screen.

No video upload function. I’ve used shutterstock through their website and am happy with them. This app doesn’t allow to upload video when the main website does. Why lack the function to bring in content for shutterstock to sell and for content creators to get paid. Win win.

Good. The app is good. It would be way more helpful if it indicated the total sale stats for videos like it does for images and allowed more than ten image uploads at a time. Otherwise it has good basic info and is easy to use

Great app!. I really enjoy having an app for checking all of my stats. Works great on my iPad, crashes a bit on my Sony Xperia z1. Looking forward to more updates

Nice app but need support for video sales. Great tool for managing your account as well as easily uploading pics to sell, however as I'm mainly a videographer it would be nice to track the sales of videos that I have up on your marketplace. Here's hoping for an update 👍🏼

Awesome app!!. I love this app!! I can check on my stats and even finish up submitting my images...right from my iPhone. Great when you away from your computer and want to finish key wording your images.

Great Basic App. This app has a lot of great basic features for managing your account, you can even upload photos from it. I do wish though that it allowed you to create and add to your published sets. Image analytics would also be an amazing feature for this app as well. The app would also be better if it enabled video uploads (which it currently does not).

Don’t work for them. Slashing their rates for contributors every day, last straw cutting us down to 15%

Waste of time. I have a professional DSLR and I am a photographer I have been submitting photos since 2 years now and I have tried 1000 of photos they never even accepted one and they give me the reason low quality image 🤣 Don’t waste your time look outside for something else

Never approved my images. You guys never approved my images till now. Don’t know what you guys want. I shoot in iPhone 12 Pro, still you guys didn’t approved. Shame on you.

Wrong reviews. Totally irrational and wrong reviews

So bad. With new prices Impossible to earn good money. Horrible.

Shitterstock. Starting June 1st, shutterstock cut artists earnings from $0.38 to $0.1 saying this is for good of the artists, when in fact many of the contributors will be pushed in poverty, because for most it was main income. This is immoral and unethical especially now, when is almost impossible to find new job to stay afloat. Shame on you Shutterstock!

No clear feedback. I have tried half a dozen times to upload photos. Filled in all of the criteria and rejected every time with a very vague reason. One was that the image wasn’t clear enough. It was as clear as me viewing the same thing with my own eyes and the quality of the picture was extremely high. Doesn’t matter what I do, it’s rejected every time.

Not letting me sign in. Yooo so it’s not letting me sign in. Know and love the app though, just work this out brother

It’s okay. The app is better than most. It would be nice if there was a symbol or something to indicate if an item that sold was a clip or an image or whatever.

Getting a photo approved is. Like finding your life’s purpose

Very Easy To Use. This app has been great. Very easy to use and rock solid. I’m able to upload images in on my computer and add tags and titles when time permits using the app.

Self Improvement. Shutterstock allows a contributor to grow in their skill as a photographer or illustrator. I have become a better photographer by studying these articles.

Dissatisfied. Takes a while to get everything ready for upload & submission, then you get told that submissions are denied for various ridiculous reasons. Description not in English (when it obviously is!), description must be clear & relevant to subject, etc...this seems to be a waste of my time!! I agree with other low ratings.

Not enough pay. I understand you can build a “lifetime” sold bracket which gets you a little more $ per photo sold, but .25$ per photo is not fair by the slightest. I guess I don’t understand how one makes money on this app, by the time you take the photos, edit, upload, descriptions, keywords, releases ect, there no way to make a profit when you receive 25 cents a photo

Not approving my content. I believe they’re just being picky the pictures could look almost the same and they’ll approve one and not the other? I hope they’re not being biased to certain individuals but that’s what it seems like? Honestly I feel like it was a waste of time

Great Experience for a new photographer. Really enjoying getting feedback on the photos, would like more tips on how to make the photo that was rejected better.

No notifications. Hi there After your last update i’m not getting any notifications from the app ( of course the notifications are on for this app in the settings ) solve it out please

Nothing is enough. I have been taking photos for a while now and I have sold some. The lighting is perfect. The picture is centered. I have stuff to remove the grain and make everything look super professional yet this app always has a problem with my pictures. It’s honestly there loss and I’m so done with this app.

Great app. This app makes it so easy to submit photos straight from my phone. I prefer the website but this app is suitable for my phone.

Good app easy to use.. Very easy to use can upload from mobile phone. But send for mobile phones it reviews very slow.

More features please. Overall the app works without glitches and has an attractive overall appearance. I wish there were a way to see graphs of which photos are selling when without having to scroll through each month of sales.

Mostly Great. The only issue I have is that the app freezes during uploads occasionally. Otherwise it's very user friendly, straightforward, and easy to use!

love it!. The app is very simple and very easy to use. None of the competitors have something similar. I love using it, sometimes I prefer using the app rather than than the website.

Disrespectful. I believe it is flat out disrespectful to say no to someone’s art. Art is a form of describing one’s self and if I can not be myself when taking photos then it’s bland dull and completely similar. Creative minds aren’t what have driven man kind to the engineering masters we are today. And now look at the senseless y creative and so similar.

Improved a lot. App makes it easy to upload photos and check earnings. App has made a lot of improvements this last year.

Dramatically reduced payouts for contributors. Shutterstock recently dramatically reduced the amount they pay contributors for their photos. I now make about 10 cents for most sales, whereas the previous minimum was 25 cents. That is more than a 50% cut! It is absolutely not worth uploading to their site anymore and I will likely be pulling all of my photos down.

Easy to use app. Shutterstock contributor is easy to use and navigate. I was able to upload my photos in 15 minutes. Great time saver.

Nothing getting approved. I have so many great photos and none of them are getting approved. Example, keeps mentioning how the focus isn’t great and another is how the noise level isn’t good but it’s not a video, it’s an image so there shouldn’t be any problem with noise…

New Payout Standards. I can not support a company or app that is screwing their creators over. Your new standards on payouts that is being released for June 2020 is unacceptable and perhaps the worst in the industry. Even more so with the VERY short notice you’ve given us. As you can prob already see you are going to get raked over the coals for this one. DO BETTER!

So frustrating.. I never leave reviews but I had to for this. Almost every picture I try to post gets denied. For no good reason. Pictures of beautiful trees, flowers, nature, etc. got denied for “visible trademarks”, there were none at all! I posted almost 100 photos and only 2 were approved. I will not be using this app any longer.

Fast and convenient. A very convenient way to be able to upload on the go. The keyword suggestion AI works well.

Terrible Attitude. I absolutely disappointed in this company after cutting down royalties for their contributor during COVID crisis. Such an awful move considering the fact that for many people it’s now hard time and this income is the main one. Everything looks like Shutterstock decided to make money at contributors’ expense. But they are a foundation of this business! Shame on you.

Good luck getting uploads approved. You can easily upload quality pics only for them to wait 1-3 days to reject it due to reasons that are irrelevant to the photo , I uploaded a simple picture of a bird clearly in focus with a blurred background and they will reject it due to object not in focus .... I don’t think these guys understand how photography actually works, avoid this site and upload to other trusted stock sites

Contributor. Love the app, wish it would have better notification

Good but not guaranteed money. I’ve had 5 pics up for a month and made nothing. It’s a good app tho but don’t expect to make anything with your best pictures

It’s better to have this app than not to have it. The app can’t handle videos, notes to the reviewer, or resubmissions of rejected photos. But it is worth having

This app and company blows. Posted several pictures every single one gets denied for noise. I don’t see any noise in my pictures. Its waste of time don’t bother. If you don’t have thousands of dollars Worth of equipment to produce stellar pictures . when in return they give you pennies on the dollar for your picture. Don’t bother.

Pointless - phone images never approved. Shooting with iPhone 7 plus. Only images I can get approved are taken with the professional SLR. Phone images are always disapproved citing the usual culprits of phone cameras, grainy (from the automatic ISO obviously). Review personnel are probably older/elderly in age with old fashioned points of view thinking stock images are still being used on paper billboards or posters where ISO artifacts still matter.

Disrespectful. I’ve never seen an app decline so many photos. I have uploaded 20 and only 3 approved. They denied several that are just amazing jaw dropping images. They declined one of close up with a blurred back ground. A close up with a white background was to. A sunset was declined as well. It’s a waste of time.

Best Stock Contributor App. This is easy to use, seldom glitches, efficient and versatile. Great for tracking sales and submitting images. Seriously impressive contributor app.

Good app, but needs a certain feature. This app is good overall. Maybe I missed where to find this, but it would be helpful to know how many views a picture gets.

The limitations are endless. When you upload 100+ images and only like 11 get approved….the frustration is real. I can’t say I will be using this silly app. I put in my heart in all the images I create and then some kind of bot comes up with a generic excuse as to why it will not be uploaded? No thanks

Horrible review process. Even in an untouched photo from an iPhone 11 with good quality, it sees the image as being grainy or altered. It’s not worth the time submitting a mobile photo through their review process unless you know how to trick their algorithm (as a bunch of their subpar photos that they have available show).

App makes all photos blurry and then tells you that we can’t upload them because they are blurry. All photos that I uploaded were sharp before I sent them . In the review section they were not approved because they are not sharp enough and not in focus. How is that even possible if the object is right in front of the camera?

Easy to use on the go. I find I submit more mobile images using the app.. Love the app. Great for editing and tagging images on the go

Location location location. Where is the world map that is on the desktop?

Functionality. While it is more user friendly than other stock photography apps it is seriously lacking. You can not do much on the app. I would hope that in the future we could monitor our pending photos from the app. Also I wish we could manage our catalog from the app. It needs an update that allows us to do more on the app.

Contributing. Although, I have not sold any pictures, I have been loving the experience.

3 stars. They will judge your photos based on their art style and completely ignore and deny your photos if they don’t like it no matter if it’s your style

This whole app is fake. I have uploaded one of my photos made in Hungary during twilight as my first work on Shutterstock. I have waited for admins review not too long. The very next day all 13 photos were disapproved for literally the same reason - main subject is not in focus, motion blur... or technical limitation of the equipment used. Ha, very nice! Considering I am using Nikon Z6. Well, Shutterstock, take these images as a gift!

Compresses images, then tells me the image is too pixelated. When I upload images into this app, it compresses the image heavily, then the image to not get approved because it says it’s too pixelated, it literally has 1/2 resolution in your app than it is on my phone.

App is not ready yet. Looks like this app is not a completely released version or very very unpopular app. They are almost taking more than 4 days to review my first photo. If u are a big company you will definitely have heavy head weight, proven. Seems shutter stock is not focusing on mobile users. Just made app for being a feature for further. Better come back to app store after 100 years...

Does not pay. I feel like all I have been doing is up loading tons of pictures for the past few months and have not made a single dime. I have no clue what it consist of to make money of the pictures I up load. I will continue to use it till the end of the year and see if anything changes I will let know what happens.

It’s ok. I have been using shutter stock contributor for a few months, and it’s not bad, but I also don’t have very many positives about it either. I would suggest putting your pictures on a few different sites if you’re wanting to sell them.

Disapproval reasons are just stupid!. I posted about 50 photos with my Mavic 3 drone and my Nikon cam and the pictures are very clear, but yet, always too exposed or under exposed! I think they’re just still sitting at home because of Covid and don’t want to come out of their house and forgot what the world looks like! By the way! COVID is over!

Meh. Not super satisfied with the app not enough detailed guidelines on what is ok or not ok after the pictures you upload have been reviewed. Called in but there isn’t a contributors place to talk must email them regarding issues. App is lack luster for functionality. No explanations of how the release forms work. Meh

Easy to stay up to date with submissions. Great app for you to keep up with submission, purchases, and your money.

Don’t waste your time. I’ve put up over at least 8 different photos that where perfect in the eyes of thousands but to shutterstock it was not centered, they refuse to accept photos unless they fit there requirements, which destroys the uniqueness of photography

Review process. The review process is outrageous!! They don’t take into consideration the difference between creative and editorial images. And the most interesting thing is when you submit a general view of a city and they rejected it saying “the main subject is out of focus” Lol. It is a general view of a whole city!!!!!!!

Won’t approve any of my images!?. This is the dumbest app ever! None of my images which are CLEAR and focused, sharp and professionally taken ever get approved! It says they are out of focus when it’s a photo of an entire scenery with nothing out of focus! This is dumb and I do not recommend this scam of an app to anyone! Waste of time! DELETE!
