Commercials that play. I have a 20 year student who had a tracheotomy as a youth so he now has very little use of his vocal cords and therefore speaks only a harsh whisper. He loves using his phone so we wanted to try this app out. Overall it’s great, but then while him trying to communicate, a commercial starts to play!!! That is totally wrong….it is interfering with his ability to communicate. I understand that as it is free you require adds, but really?!?! Commercials that play WHILE he is trying to communicate? Just have a picture of the add!!!

Helpful after voice surgery. This app was very helpful while on rest from voice surgery. My only suggestion would be to have a clear all button so I didn’t have to back-space the box to type something new.

Useless. Extremely invasive ads & does not work in landscape mode. How could this app have such great reviews? The ads are extremely invasive. They take over the screen and TALK OVER the speech you are trying to produce. It’s not not once, it does this all the time, about every third sentence. That makes it useless. It does not work in landscape mode. That also makes it nearly useless. And trying to leave feedback on the App Store via this app does not work. When trying, it claims it cannot connect to the App Store. Might that help explain why there are so few negative reviews? I am uninstalling this app. I found another one that works much better, and it respects users much better.

Good app for the price. This app has all the basics of a good text to speech app, especially for the price of $1. Totally worth the cost. However, there are a few improvements that could be made. 1. Better support dark mode by showing all icons in white or light gray while dark mode is enabled. Currently when on dark mode, some of the icons flat out aren’t visible at all because the icons are black, just like the background. 2. Automatically clear the text box after the app is done reading a sentence. Or maybe have a preferencial option in settings to automatically clear. 3. Allow users to hear a snippet of a voice when they change voices, so they don’t have to type something, listen to something they don’t like, and then navigate back to the voices again to switch. 4. Tell me which voice the setting is on currently. This could be with a checkbox, gray lettering, highlighting, etc. But overall, the app is pretty good. I wouldn’t say great without these improvements, but good enough for $1.

Great App, but how do I buy the pro version. WARNING: This is just my opinion. You might have another opinion, and that's cool, but this mine✌🏽 Ok, I really like this app, but I think it could be so much better with just a few additions. So with that said, I thought I'd try and see if the "PRO VERSION" is any better....come to find out that THERE IS NO PRO VERSION!!! Well that's the conclusion that I have come too, BECAUSE IT WONT LET ME BUY IT!!! Why?! Can someone explain to me why this is....better yet, has anyone else had this happen??? I'm baffled as to why this is happening to me, let me know if this has happened to you too. Helped with my trach. I had a trach placed and couldn’t speak for many days, and even when I started speaking sometimes I needed assistance communicating. This app was a godsend for me. I was able to easily and relatively quickly communicate with my nurses, doctors, care team and family far better than trying to write everything down. My nurses loved being able to communicate with me and me to be able to communicate with them so easily and all asked what the app was. This was a great purchase while I needed it, very functional and if I end up needing help like this again this is the app I’ll run to. 10/10 would recommend this app.

Excellent except…. This app is excellent except for recently when I tap to use the voices of Reed and Eddy the voice of Samantha speaks and says “Speak. Proximity rate of 4.0 percent. Voice. Reed English United States.” and it doesn’t speak in the voice I want it to be. This used to work perfect before and now I can’t use it for my animations because of this technical glitch and error, if you could please fix it that would be great. Otherwise, I absolutely LOVE this app!!!

love this app soooooooo much!!!!!!!!. I was trying to find a text to speech app that did not have the normal iOS voices and now I found one! This app is very easy to use and it is also accessible with iPhone voiceover! I love saying this really funny phrase and adding random words to it and using the different accents to make it sound extremely funny! If you are looking for an amazing text to speech app, speak for me is the one! The app is so good that you should just spend the $.99 on the pro version so then you can have an unlimited amount of favorites in your list. Please consider buying speak for me and don’t worry about any other text to speech apps

Saved My Life. I had to make a video project for my Environmental Science class, but due to anxiety I couldn’t record my voice. I searched high and low for a good TTS app and online website, but this one is the only one that lets me record and save the audio. Really, I can’t thank you guys enough for making this amazing app. It saved my grade, and I was able to make a great video about Giant Pandas. Thank you again! (Trust me this app is worth it,,)

This is good but.... This is a awesome game but if you go to favorites you can only favorite 5 things. That’s something l don’t like about this but other than that everything else is good. So if the creators can change it that would be great. That is why l put 4 stars

No player controls. The text to speech function isn’t stellar, but it works. But you have little control other than to start and stop the speaking. There is no pause function. Click Stop and you will restart from the beginning if you click Start. This really needs a resume function. There I no way to play from a point other than the beginning. There are no controls at all when listening to a Favorite. The unclosable full screen ads are obnoxious, but I suppose I could pay the ransom to get rid of them. But I won’t. The lack of play controls makes this app a Delete.

Gone to the wrong way!. I used to love this app, but now it’s changed everything, and I can’t get to using it anymore!

FourStar Review. App works great. But languages and sound should be more clearly labeled. Like finding the Siri voice etc... and you should be able to choose from the long list of languages before sending instead of after you press send and it creates a downloaded audio file!! Other than that issue for me, it’s an awesome app!! Thanks developers!!

Can't export the voices. I love this app a lot , at first i was able to export them but now I can't... i don't know if this is part of the issue you're trying to fix but if not then i'm letting you know this is happening. Please fix soon !

It’s just what I needed. This app is so very needed for people like me who have a really difficult time speaking, but since I’m not a mute I just suffered a traumatic brain injury and I’m not able to speak legible anymore so I find this app very very useful

Its good, but there is one problem.. Hello, the app is great. But i am having problems putting it into file. Whenever I put it in a app or something and when i play the voice there is no sound. Whats the problem?

I liked the app until…. So this app was great. It had all the voices I wanted, and I used it a lot. But then, a few weeks ago, I clicked on a voice after I had typed something. But it wouldn’t lode! I thought it was just a glitch so I tried a different voice. It didn’t work. So the moral, it won’t lode. This is a great app, I love it, but it just doesn’t lode. So I can’t use it. Please try and fix this. Other than that, this is a great app to use for TTS voices. And I would highly recomend it. If they ever fix the glitch.

Not bad at all, could have better voices. This app works really well and is designed smartly. It performs better than other text-to-speech apps I've tried before, both in terms of how fast it loads and the accuracy. The interface also looks really nice. However, I'm not completely blown away by the voices, even the ones you have to pay for. They seem a bit unclear or mumbled. If you could make the voices sound more natural and easy to understand, this app would become one of the best text-to-speech apps out there.

The app is good, but one problem.. So I've been using this app to make TTS videos. I've discovered that this app does not have pitch, rate, and volume controlls. Could you please add it in the next update? That's the only thing that is keeping me away from a 5 star rating.

Ok but... I lost my voice to severe laryngitis. So, I got this app to speak for me. It works fine, but the ads are every time you talk and it starts when you are trying to speak! I tried to limit or remove the ads, but it tells me it’s not compatible with my phone. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bad ux. In order to play speech sound you have to close the keyboard then press play. After playing sound the is no 1 press to get to an empty text box so you have to manually select and delete. Meaning the number of steps to use it or make a new message is doubled and the steps are somewhat more complex the up button taps. Also interstitial ads. Makes it fall less suitable than other free apps for quick communication when you can’t talk

You need premium to do most things. Fact that you need premium to do a lot of things in there and in order to get premium you have to pay like a bunch per month and so unless you’re willing to spend money just don’t get it get another text to speech or even a speech to text to speech app. Sorry to the developers of this app.

Not nearly as good as Speechify-but cheaper!. When Speechify wanted over $200 a year I went looking for a second option. I found Speak4me and it’s a little more affordable. I have been trying out apps that I might recommend to clients with voice disorders. It’s a powerful app for those who need a voice but aren’t able to speak. I personally use it to read articles to me. It saves me time if I can read while I’m getting ready or walking. Just fyi: I do think it has a lot of room for growth, but I’m hopeful they’ll get there. It freezes frequently, the premium voices still sound pretty robotic with some pronunciation errors, and you can currently only upload files from dropbox or iCloud. In Speechify you can upload files directly into it from Canvas, but you can’t do that with Speak4me. This would be a game changing feature! They say updates on these are coming soon, but they’ve been saying that for 3 months now.

Lots of Ads. Every time you click on something an ad pops up. While there are a lot of voices to chose from and it is helpful after a tonsillectomy, it is annoying due to the fact you have to wait for the 10 secs for the abs to go away.

Does not save talk back speed anymore. I’ve had the free version of this app for years and its great but since the last couple of updates, when I save a phrase to favorites, the app does not save the talk back speed like it did before. It would be nice to also have pitch, rate, and volume. I understand that I have the free version but why remove features that used to be free? There are plenty of ads for support so at least put the ability to save talk back speed to favorites.

just one miner but frustrating thing. it’s a great abb. But it doesn’t pause for periods commas and so on and it makes it not as good and it makes it hard for people who use it to create videos

Overall?. Id say its a good app, it could have more favorites and more things. But overall pretty great! I’m also glad it doesn’t have to be serious. But my main problem: when is the pitch option coming back? It was a lot more helpful and it recently just disappeared.

Horrible App!!. It says on the app page they are working to fix the technical issue and to turn your phone off then back on and it should be resolved (2 weeks ago) but this did not work. You did not even indicate what the issue is so people know if that is what they are experiencing. I typed in a sentence and it worked the first time with the default voice, then the second time, it started rambling all this other stuff I did not type. The same when I switched voices. If that is the tech issue people are having, I don't have time to wait another 2 weeks. Delete!

There's no button I see that can change voices.. Yeah so uhh I don't see any button or setting that can change the voice I wanted to set it to, and I can't really do anything with one voice, but you know, other then that good app, just think it would be better if I can change the voice.

I Hate Updates That Remove Features. This used to be my favourite text to speech app because it had so many features and was free, from the voice selection to the pitch and speed changes. Now, not only do I have to relearn where each feature is located, half of these options are locked behind a subscription. I understand that some apps might need subscriptions to keep up maintenance but it makes me want to switch to using a different app.

really awesome app. hey this is an awesome app for me to get my words out that i can’t really do at certain times as i have a stuttering problem since i was a kid so it’s always been really annoying when i couldn’t speak when i wanted to but now i can it may be a different voice but at least i can say what i want now plus it’s free and that makes it just that much easier to use so i really love this app because now i can have someone else speak what i can’t say at a certain time because of my stuttering problem so this app is a must buy for people like me who have speech issues anyways keep up the good work guys

The Robin Voice. This app would be better if it had the Robin Voice. In fact. I would be much happier if all the text to speech apps have the Robin Voice.

Wisdom Tooth Friendly. Bless this app for now I can express my ungodly craving for many large sized McDonalds fries. I had all four of my wisdom teeth out and found it rather hard and painful to speak with gauze in my mouth and a painfully dry throat. With this app I was able to talk again! There's tons of different accents you can change the voice to and even slow it down for someone to better understand you. It doesn't take any time to sit and process the words which is so nice!

Anaynomas user. This is an okay app. I don’t like how you have to pay to get more favorites. I understand they are trying to make money, but if they put a few more adds they could get that money. Overall, this app is a great idea, and a very good work of programming. If you could put more adds instead of a premium app then that would make this app a five star. Thanks, Anaynomas

Let me edit Favorites!. I downloaded this to help me while I recover from throat surgery and was unable to talk. App works and you can't beat the price. I would like to be able to 1.edit favorites instead of deleting them 2.re-order favorites.

I love this app. So i got this app because i saw it on those anime texting videos and then i saw that they had the United Kingdom voice and i was like oml yay cus it’s so hard to find but this app is very easy to use and they have really good voices.

Since moms don’t get a sick day!. I’ve completely lost my voice and it hurts to talk....thank you allergies! This app has made it easy for me to communicate with my toddler since she doesn’t understand why mom isn’t answering her lol now I can!

Pop ups made this unusable. Downloaded this app in preparation for not being able to speak for a period of time post-tonsillectomy. At first it was ok but the pop-up ads with sound made it difficult to communicate with my spouse and children, eventually resulting in me deleting the app and looking for something else. I get the needed source of revenue but when you’re trying to find something to replace speech, pop ups are ridiculous and unnecessary.

I want to save my audio files. I make lectures on Instagram using crappy online Daniel voices. But I really like this app. It’s so easy. But I want to save the audios to my camera roll. It would be so much better if you could.

Why I love this App so much. So basically I cannot read I have to use speech to text to text like what I’m doing right now I’m speaking and it’s texting anyways I mainly use Discord and well discord doesn’t have a speech thing so I use this app to speak The text and it’s really amazing all I have to do is just copy and paste it in

High battery usage. This app does not work with the Home Screen locked. It requires the Home Screen to remain unlocked using unnecessary battery life. My phone gets very hot while using it long term. I find it inconvenient to use while multi-tasking.

Just a few suggestions. I love the app, it’s amazing in fact but I do have a few suggestions. Well for one, you could add rappers voices or as close as you can get to their voices. Also I recommend rappers such as XXXTENTACION, Tupac, Juice WRLD, etc. Not just male rappers but I just want those specific rappers for some things. Also please add singer’s voices in too. Also there are a LOT of ads so if you can remove at least half of them that would make me happy. But other than that the app is perfect and I absolutely love it. Thank you<3

The most helpful app I didn’t know I needed this past month. I had vocal chord damage for the past month and once I found this app it helped me talk with my partner in the house and send voice messages to grandma. No more painful whispering or risking to talk and my chords finally started healing up. I LOVE how there are actually realistic voices on this one as well. Thank you for this! 10/10!

Works but annoying. It does what it is supposed to do adequately but it’s highly annoying in that the ads start in the middle of it reading your text out loud. So you have to repeat it. The voice is flat and annoying.

0/10. Thank goodness there was a free option because it took five seconds of the program speaking for me to delete the app. I followed all instructions, scanned the pages I needed to, and saved them. The voice began “speaking” aka screaming the text at 100 miles per hour and at first I thought it was in a different language. Turns out it the program is just incapable of comprehension and I would say probably three of the 20 words it read were barely pronounced correctly. The rest of the words were either spelled (incorrectly) or read like a toddler on day one of learning to pronounce simple words.

I Love the app but..... Their are a few problems. The normal languages are working fine, but the when you try to share the sounds the audio files don’t load

Ads?. Okay, but seriously. Ads are literally every 5 seconds. We all know it’s for business, but seriously if you think putting ads every 5 seconds is going to keep us hooked youre mildly wrong. It’s just annoying and makes people want to stop using after a while.

Great free app. Great free app that does exactly what it promises. One tiny bug though. When it switches to dark mode, the text color doesn’t change to white, it stays black, so you can’t see it anymore.

Awesome app but.... This app has a wide variety of text to speech voices that you can export to use for whatever you want! The only thing is that if you want to export your text it has to be under 2000 characters. You can upgrade to premium at a cost where there is no limit for characters but I'm not going to pay for a text to speech app. If the developer is reading this plz raise the minimum characters to at least 2500 or something.

Does not work. Could not get this app to work. I have laryngitis and thought it might be useful but I could not get it to say anything except one time when it started reading aloud the configuration settings and would not stop. And the constant ads! A shame because I could really have used this at the moment.

Adds adds and a robot voice. No pint. Something from 10 years ago, sounds like a robot, and is something from 202 in that every time you touch the screen you get an advert, non stop, just terrible

BEST APP EVER BOUGHT. This is a great app and serves my exact purpose. I suggest this to anyone who needs a voice in a different language or a voice in general. I got it because I lost most of my voice for a while so I could speak. I think this app is a great idea as it does my EXACT purpose. It doesn’t cost money once you download it like some apps, it’s completely free. The only thing is it has WAY TO MANY ADDS, SPEAK4ME PLEASE REMOVE SOME of the adds not all just some please. DUD APP 😡. This uses Speak Selection. NOTHING ELSE. ITS THE MOST DUD APP IVE EVER SEEN DOMT BUY PRO. SPEAK SELECTION IS BUILT IN AND CAN BE ACCESSED THROUGH ACCESSIBILITY SETTINGS.

Self-defeating - DELETED. The idea is simple - add text and let the app speak it. Just one problem: every other time the app speaks, an ad - no, a video ad WITH SOUND - plays over the top of it. Worse, the video has a countdown Close button so I can’t immediately dismiss it. I would never be able to rely on this app without fear I’d just be playing my friends an ad. Hint to any developers that read this - the “cost” of using your app (the inconvenience of the ads) and hence your remuneration (the money you get from it) should be in line with the value your app adds to the user’s device. Given text-to-speech is already built into the OS, your app contributes very little functionality compared to the trade-off. This app is too expensive.

Does what it says, then not. After a couple minutes; Shows a full screen ads that behave like malware; it offers no way to close the Ad. Removing the usefulness of the App to help with a bout of Laryngitis. I’ll be removing the App.

It's awesome!. I love this app very much! However, it would be nice if I could turn my phone off and keep listening to it as well as go on my home screen and other apps, but have it keep playing while doing so.

I like the favourites list. This is proving very useful while I currently have laryngitis and can't talk. Using it is hilarious. However I think the favourites list should be sortable so that it's easier me to come back to specific phrases when I need them

Enable saving of the speed of reading. Firstly, this app is wonderful. However, it can be better if the speed of reading can also be saved or maintained with each file independently.

awesome game... but. i love this game so much! it is so fun to play around with and send to my friends. i’m proud to say, i’ve been using this app for about two years now. but i’ve noticed there are more ads than usual. i understand there has to be some ads, but now there’s an ad after every single time i try to speak. thank you for creating an awesome game though!

Annoying ads. The ads on this app are some of the most annoying that I have encountered. I thought this app would be helpful to use while my voice was out but the ads on the app make it useless.

How do I get rid of this?!. It was a cool app when I needed it but now there’s no way to remove it from my iPhone! I’m not able to remove it as it won’t show as an app and I can’t uninstall it. I got the free version which apparently has no way to cancel and if I click for app support it just goes to some foreign website in who knows what language. I NEED HELP!!!!!

It was okay. It was okay it worked good but I wish there was a share button were you can share it to your camera roll and there were so many adds I don’t like it that much

Way too many ads. I don’t mind ads in apps like this, but there are ads around every 30 seconds, which is ridiculous. It’s highly annoying and downgrades the quality of the app. I get that you guys need money, but jeez!

Most recent update is garbage. The app used to be good. Now it won’t let you scroll with selected text and will stop to advertise the paid version after 2 minutes listening. I’m going to find a better app.

Good but to “computery” sounding.. The digital voice can be a little hard to understand sometimes but, overall, it really is a great and useful app.

Nearly spot on the vocally impaired.. For what it is, a utility, it’s just about perfect for someone incapable of speech, but hearing enabled. In this non-pro version, you are limited to a single voice. You can change the read-back speed, but that’s. Very robotic.

My Mom suffers from ALS.. Highly recommend. She is now able to communicate with her phone. Sent it to a couple whose sister had a stroke. Making these lives better. Love it. Thank you❤️

Crashing. Want to keep trying it out but so far seems to be crashing pretty frequently

Lasted less then 5 minutes on my phone. If your looking for pop up ads this app is for you, if your wanting anything else keep looking elsewhere. Not to app maker, if your wanting people to buy your crap maybe you should consider giving them something worth the money. Can’t even say I got a good test of the app spent more time putting up with ads.

Used to like this app. The app used to be pretty good, everything downloaded quickly and I don’t mind the ads that much. However now it never downloads the audio. One time I even waited over an hour and it STILL didnt download. Added more space onto the phone, reinstalled it and even deleted almost 3,000 photos. GUESS WHAT. STILL NOT WORKING.

Needs feature. So, I like this app, but it doesn’t have a way to pause the text. If you stop the text and hit play again, it starts back at the beginning. This has been very frustrating. I sent the developer a message in April and they never responded.

Wish text could be deleted. There is now way to delete text when it's done. One has to use the keyboard to remove text

It’s ok. I just got this and it’s honestly pretty good, just to many adds. The second I tap on a voice, an add, the second I tap on the “listen” button, you guessed it, an add.

The worst app I’ve ever came across. You can’t select a voice because every time you try it go to a add. Then when I got past the five times I tried the reading was so fast you can’t understand it. I believe the five stars was from years ago.

This app isn’t worth it unless you want to pay. This app is not free after you get through the question it asks if you want to pay $80 a year for this app and if you hit “no” it gets you not even halfway through what you’re listening too!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😤😤😤

Not for books and PDF. I downloaded this app with hope to be able to listen .pdf files but looks like there is no such option. Otherwise the app is good.

Too many ads. Just when you are ready to hit the button to speak you get ads (primarily tik tok) that interrupt your conversation. There were not as many voice options as I was led to believe either. Good concept though...just drop the ads and how they are displayed.

Great app but... I love this app. It’s super fun, but I have one complaint. The app would constantly crash for me. Sometimes I couldn’t even enter the app! If you could possibly fix that it would be 5 stars.

Please give me the old version back. The newest update, feels like it ruins everything. The voice can’t say any words that are combined together like landlady, and it also seems to have trouble speaking foreign names, to go on long with that. The speed of the voice is no longer able to be changed. one star

Plays but share function doesn’t work. Wanted to be able to save the audio file. Pressing share just chooses a voice. Like it should be part of settings. But it does do anything. You can’t choose the voice to play in nor save. Pretty much useless
