Disappointed. I reckon that the app is egregious. The web version is impeccable, but the app is unusable .

Keep it up-to-date. This app misses a lot of words that available on web site. For instance, “nine-to-five” you won’t find this word in the app.

For dumb learners. This is an absolutely useless application. Having been using a web-based version for almost a year, I hoped to alleviate the usage by installing a mobile variant. Alas, only the most simplistic words were available for search, which has greatly disappointed me. 26$ for an extended version is a huge overkill. Overrated

It's FREE ！. This is the only free English Dictionary App as I know. I use Longman dictionary’s paper version at first, but I have to purchase the app version again. That’s too bad. Through an essay of comparing 5 dictionaries that Cambridge Dictionary App is the only one for free.

YOU CAN’T SHARING. If you think about sharing with family, forget it. the information that can be shared is misleading.

I love it!. Cambridge Dictionary is one of the best dictionaries that I've ever owned to get better knowledge of English! Especially with the verbs, adjectives and nouns are very cool to study! I also love on how they allow us to use British and American accents! Thank you very much for teaching me!

Totally worth it. Don’t know about why this app has such low ratings so far, it is a great app in my experience. I don’t think the price was not fair at any sense, for its contents it provided definitely worth every penny. And it was not even a subscription price! You will see its great value after you have a habit of comparing definition from more than one dictionary.

Make more accessible. Huge disappointment, since the web version is totally accessible for searching and exploring all kind of words and some good features.I was expecting to experience the same thing in the app, i even created my own words list on the web version hopping to Synchronizing it via the application but none of these were available unless you buy the whole version which the price of it is a bit exaggerated. I think I’m gonna stick with the web version until i find another alternative.

Warning - purchase required. Once you open the app, it requires you to purchase in order to access it. It should have had the price and the fact that you must purchase it.

This app is useless. You download the “free” app which doesn’t actually let you view definitions until you purchase the dictionary for $13. But hold on there, once you do that, the dictionary never downloads. Utterly useless, buyer beware.

Dictionary With Too Few Words. Too often I’ve searched this lame dictionary for words that are not available. Yet, you can find those words in the free Mirriam-Webster App. One would have thought that this option would have been exceptional. Unfortunately, it’s the total opposite! Please add words!

Charging for dictionary...in 2018?. I get that the app should be profitable in some shape or form, but to prevent the general usage of the app without paying $10+ USD just sounds uninviting, especially since the browser version of the Cambridge dictionary is free to use. I’d understand if the app pushes for purchase of the dictionary during offline mode, but the charge during online mode just seems counterintuitive. The rating I’m giving to this app isn’t based on its functionality or interface. Rather, it’s a rating for the poor business model.

Good dictionary but. The app takes seven seconds on my iPhone 7 to start. Please optimise the app to start faster. Thank you. :)

Useless!! Nothing free !!. This app is fake ... when I did download it I think that will be like the website but unfortunately not. When you try to search for a word, you can’t access to its definition and to the audio so you can listen it in the US or UK accents , you have to pay for it. Really disappointing. I recommend “ Merriam Webster” app to anyone can’t afford this app.

Define a word. I have used this dictionary for years and recommended it to everyone but today I sought the definition of ‘catechetical’ and apparently this word is not in this dictionary? because I asked for an English definition and none! So I tried Arabic to English, nope, German to English, nope; Italian to English, nope; Spanish to English, nope; I give up!

Is it possible to synchronize the app data and the web account data?. I use app and web at the same time. If these two are synchronized, it’s much convenient to me.

Great dictionary. Its really great dictionary for who wants to learn English more useful. The categories of words are amazing. This dictionary is completely different from other kinds of dictionaries. I really admire and enjoy.

Didn’t work on IOS16!!!. Just downloaded last day and after successfully in app purchase, I couldn’t download the dictionary contents on ios 16 system, is that a problem caused me fail to download it ?

Worse app!. It’s terrible examples and doesn’t clear explanations while free apps have more obvious words. I’m regret to buy this one.

I thought it would’ve been good to have. But ones I noticed that they would charge me money 💴 to use the app then I got rid of the app and just went to their website instead and created a shortcut to my home screen of my cell phone so I wouldn’t be charged anything because half of these apps now a days treat everyone like they are rich in cash 💷 and they could care less if your a low income person 🤬

The App is not free. Why is this app asking me to click on a link to purchase the dictionary? It only shows the preview of the meaning of words, you have to purchase the dictionary to see the comprehensive definition of words. This is terrible, I am deleting this app ASAP

Simple and efficient. every word is explained with easy words, it’s good to learner to understand, and can learn English with English easily.

Immensely useful. It’ll be a prime excellent app as long as you update it. The last time that it received the update was about 2 years ago.

Suggestions. Spending over $20 for a dictionary app compared to having free access to online dictionaries or even other dictionary apps just doesn’t make sense. That being said, I think you guys would make way more money charging $5 once for everything than to charge over $20 for your current dictionary (assuming we have to pay each time you update the dictionary). You want more people to buy, not just like 3 people. Remember that they can just go to your website and use it for free. The alternative would be to make a paid app for like less than $5 and not charge for anything else.

Stops working and ask for more money!!. I purchased the Cambridge advanced learners dictionary about 6 years ago but in the recent updates of iOS it has not been working. Now I see they have released a new version compatible with the new iOS and asking for money again. This is not right. I have paid for this product once and have the rights to at least have my old version running. If you decide to kill the old one, you need to make the update freely available for the old users, like all other app developers. No morals.

Disappointed. Sorry the developer, I cannot search definition at the first try, instead the apps asks for subscription. The online website is very good but not the apps.

Too expensive!!!!!!. I found this on the App Store and downloaded it. I think the oxford dictionary is better as you can search for idioms. I do not recommend anyone to use this app.

If I could I’d give a 0. The app itself is really nice and works fine. But if something goes wrong, don’t expect help. I bought a new iphone and wanted to transfer this app from my old iphone. It never transfers. All apps did transfer no problem and this one did not. The customer service takes forever to reply and when they do they simply want you to buy the app again. Go to competitor app - the Oxford one, that one works perfectly.

Fools, they should be banned of doing such scam. They should be banned by apple store, first they fooled you to download and later in app they say you to purchase to see the meaning. Disgrace !. I purchased this dictionary for $26 in 2012. They stopped supporting the previous version and required me to pay for the latest version. What a disgrace!

Dishonest Practice. I bought an earlier version at full price a few years ago around $45. They stopped supporting the app I paid and asked user to make purchase again...

Terrible company!. Do not buy this app as this company will not support the app after you update to a new IOS version. You will require to pay for the app again to access the same app.

Stoppoed supporting previous version!!. I bought This dictionary in 2015 for second time as their previous paid version stopped working. I updated my OS Today and to my surprise they’ve done it again! They have stopped the 2015 version as well and releases a new version! I have spent more than $45 on this dictionary so far and they expect me to repurchase it again!!! They have no morals!!

Unfair and disappointed. I have to be honest and admit it is a good one but for my disappointment when I upgraded my iOS the app stop working then I tried to get un upgrade I couldn’t find the app in the store I discovered that the company issued a new version and asking me to pay for the new version and the previous version no more in store so I lost my money I tried to email the company but they ignored me. Thanks Cambridge for your unfair treatment !!!!!! Very bad rating for your attitude but as I am honest to my principles I will rate the app as a great app. My message to the users think twice before buying this app as may lost your money if these guys issued a new version.

Be aware free version is not a functioning app.. It needs to be made clearer that although this is a free download, this app costs you $20 to use. Why you would not just put the price upfront on the app store beats me.

Great dictionary. The content and the definitions are great but the app has room for improvement. Going back doesn’t work with iOS back gesture which makes it a hassle to have to tap on the back button which is far far away from the tip of your thumb. It’s also not quick to get back to the search box once you are in the definition page. Tapping on the pronunciation button doesn’t always pronounce the word and instantly selects the text! But apparent from these the app has a way to restore the purchase and once you paid you don’t have to pay again unlike some reviews stated.

Unfair! Disappointed. The dictionary itself is fantastic and that is why my I decided to purchase the PREVIOUS version with a heart beat but I accidentally deleted it and could not download it from Appstore for free anymore (somehow I can't restore it through iTune on my laptop either). Now I have to buy this so-called NEW version again to be able to use this dictionary which is basically the same. Totally disappointed!!!

Good definitions. Like the simple definitions but cannot work out why some of the words in the sample sentences are bonded when not related to the word itself. Why are they bold?

I purchased this app. Excellent! No matter what do you hear from online and other people say about this dictionary , it is not true! I’ve been using this app for a year and all I can say is just nothing but amazing, now I am so truly capture by the aesthetic way it works that I would rather pay it over and over again on all my devices which by this I do have to point out that they should have added a cloud service for your account to connect to so your next device can automatically recognise and read out the data from the other device so you wouldn’t have to purchase it every single time like me which could also potentially be 5e reason why everyone hates it and not a lot even know this app exists, but however, despite everything i would still give it a honest thumbs up👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️

Quite stupid. On their website it's advertised that you can download the app for free but after downloading the app, you can not access anything unless you buy a dictionary for $35.99.

Not working. I bought this dictionary a year ago but when I try to restore my purchase, I cannot download the content. I contacted support email, but they told me the support for this dictionary is discontinued. But I payed and used it only for one year!

Good but…. That’s probably the most expensive app running on my phone. Definitions are clear and much easier than some of the alternatives. I never received any update for this app and it’s been about 3 years now. I noticed that they made the website with an option of login and it will be great to share data from the app to the website.

Not so “free”. It’s an amazing app if you pay full price. I searched for a simple word “carter” and in order to see its definition I was asked to buy the full version. This app developer isn’t so brilliant as I found the definition on the web by Cambridge Dictionary for FREE!!!! That’s what initially brought me to download the app. And now I’ve deleted the app....✌🏼

Not a free app. 9 out of 10 words you have to pay to find the definition! Why do you even provide the free app if we cannot use?

Flash Cards. Flash Card would be a great feature if all meanings of a single word were included on the card. I found it bewildering that the app is not able to do so. If you want to create a flash card for a word, you can only choose one meaning and that’s it. You can’t even create multiple cards for that word if it has multiple meanings. Very disappointing!

Paid to get the full version, pathetic!. This app and the developer are pathetic enough to try charging people for definitions. It fails to provide the basic functionality as you can't get the definition of a simple word, ie. sun, without paying.

Cambridge English Pronouncing Dictionary. The dictionary shows pronunciation variations in both American and British English using IPA. However, there is only one audio example of each, which makes it no different from other dictionaries.

Microphone. One of the worse app which I downloaded. Mic input not working , no upgrade for a while, no camera usage for reading text. So crappy

poor pronunciation. a lot of words are not in this dictionary and some words have problems with "r" sound and "I" sound . This dictionary have pronunciations for just words!!!!!!!!!

Good example sentences, no derivations. The Good and the bad. I like the example sentences especially for words with many definitions and parts of speech. It falls short of being the best by not having the derivations

Simple but Perfect. This dictionary is simple but Perfect . It's definitions are very easy understanding comparing other dictionaries . It's including : examples . More examples . Verb table . Thesaurus. Common mistakes . I'm so happy with it .

18 volume. I just purchased your Cambridge volume 18. I did not realize it did not have the feature of the definition of the word. I would like to upgrade but would like to have a refund on my 14.99 so I may upgrade to the 25.99 version. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated thank you Pokey gutjahr

Great but latest update crashed in iphone 4!!. Dear developers; Thanks for this excellent dictionary, but latest update is not compatible with iphone 4, iOS 7.1.2. It crashes at start up in my iphone but features are so great and useful. I have test it in iOS 9.1.2. Please make this problem correct. Thank you.

20 words--zero stars. When I tried to look up a word, it showed me 20-30 random unrelated words that presumably were defined. To get the definition I wanted, I would need to buy the full version. This app is only a downloadable advert for their products. Useless. The free desktop app, CALD3, is great for ESL teachers--simple definitions and UK and US pronunciation, including audio. Highly recommend the desktop version.

Paid version MANY Missing Words :(. Got this for kids to study spelling bee words. Wanted pronunciations and definitions. Some words have them used in a sentence. However, you are baited to buy because most words are locked. Paid $12.99 and only about 1/2 of the words we search are in it.

Not what I expected - disappointing. Unfortunately this app does not seem to have all the words that I have been so far searched. I looked for "Piratical" and didn't not receive a wide range of meanings that I was expecting. The iBooks built in dictionary was much more in depth and detailed. I tried searching for word "Faustian" but you don't have in this dictionary. For a $24.99 this is not a good dictionary. I need to return delete this app and need my money back. Extremely disappointing

very good dictionary. This dictionary is good for people who use English as a second language or high school students. It helps you increase vocabulary. For example, when you look up the word 'clique' which means ' a group of people' it gives you the definition and under 'SMART THESAURUS' it gives a list of words which mean a group of people, so you will learn more words which mean a group of people such as ' cohort, bevy, brigade, caucus, constellation, contingent, coterie, etc. It helps you memorize the words and when you read further on each word, you will know more about the word. Only one CON: it's expensive ( $25.99)

well! Old school style.Could be better!. I love this dictionary! Save me a lot of 4G flows.app offline Uk pronunciation as same as web. Everytime you reopen the app it restart the whole app, and then you need to wait like few sends for the reloading.
