Difficult. Let’s be real and face the fact the IXL may be one of the most frustrating to use learning apps. As a student, I have reasons for why I resent and chide IXL learning which I will list below. Firstly, IXL is so very hard on children because it sets you back when you answer incorrectly more than you even earn upon answering correctly. This builds up the frustrations and anger to a point where students have cried. In addition, IXL’s explanations are elaborated very thoroughly and can be hard to comprehend. Secondly, IXL is decreases the amount of points you get as you go to the point half of the questions are in the challenge zone which is in the 90 or above point range. Lastly, IXL is so picky regarding your answers. Examples include, marking and answer wrong over an accidental extra space, or forgetting a dash when writing an integer in word form, and even missing commas in numbers count as incorrect in some cases. It’s just too harsh on kids and users who are just trying to improve their academic ability. Major tweaks necessary!!!

Very sensitive. I have been using ixl for a very long time, about three years, so it has been a very sensitive website and app. You lose more points than you gain it. AND I think this app shouldn’t use wifi because I’ve actually tried to do it in the car, but I can never do it. It’s so annoying. I just can’t get over the fact that I’ve actually been assigned to be doing this garbage app and website. It’s great for learning, but you should put the feature of an “ are you sure?” Because I was typing out something for one of the skills and I accidentally pressed a instead of s, and I did that about 4 times already. I got so offended, that I literally wanted to split my phone in half. To viewers who is reading this review, I would not recommend to get this app. It’s just going to drive you or you’re kids crazy and possibly even get mad for the rest of the day, or start breaking your stuff. This app is ok for the most part. But they should add some better and less sensitive app Thanks

Listen I have a idea. What if if IXL had a mode where you can play like Kahoot and Gimkit but you can still use it the normal way so that teachers don’t have to bore the students to death and they should be able to give work between playing and learning modes and you should fix the smart score it is annoying when you lose more than you get and i know why you did that its to make sure that you don’t lose a second question but I think it should have a less lose so that students don’t have to spend longer time on ixl so they can work on other assignments and be able to play more so I think this will be very useful and one more thing the people who do one star rating are people who are lazy and they are losers because they don’t want to do any work for anything so to sum it up make ixl more fun please 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 And when you do I promise you that more people will use IXL.

Amazing, Recommend (but some other stuff too). Ok, many people have written bad reviews. But I promise this one is true, I really promise. Over time, IXL has fixed some bugs & issues, which helps the people now. IXL has got some really good stuff & questions for all grades. It also has stuff that's not grades, like Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, etc. Like, amazing. For people who are in grades Kindergarten-8th, this is perfect. I'm a student, but OMG! Amazing. I can't even explain how good it is! One thing I love about it is, you can also do it on mobile. And PC. And on mobile, you can actually draw! You can use a pencil, and a highlighter. I have used this for 2 - 3 yrs, and I have loved it. I recommend this a lot. [ Edit ] Hi again! So, here’s my new opinion. Basically, IXL can be very frustrating. I had used it today, and felt like ripping my hair out. Literally. I got so frustrated, and I was only testing out 3rd Grade! 3rd! IXL, if your reading this, step up your game. You need to make this easier! I spent 20 min just trying. For 3rd, don’t forget. So, once again, I give this a 3/5. Sorry, but it’s the truth.

THIS IT A SCAM!!!. This makes me mad I have never crashed out so hard on a game it is practically the devils spawn I accidentally put a space in one of my answers and counted it as wrong my teacher has sensed band IXL because she says it is one of the most horrible math in reading learning site she’s ever seen and I truly agree with her!! and don’t get me even started on the questions. They are worded it so poorly. When you get a question wrong, it sets you back by like 10 points once it took me 30 minutes just to get to 80% because of this feature. I don’t understand why they had to do this. I have never in my whole entire life been so upset by a game. It has given me so much stress, anxiety, some depression I have gone through multiple counseling sessions because of this app and website. I cannot stress this enough. Please find a different Learning websites and they market this as a game all you do is answer questions! THIS COSTS 20$ A MONTH!!!!! I have never been so disappointed in a website and I strongly recommend that you say clear from IXL like I said in the title THIS IS A SCAM!!!!

1st grade. ChatGPT recommended IXL to me when I asked for help setting my daughter up for success in her education. This app has been fantastic so far! I appreciate that when my daughter gets a question wrong, it adjusts her progress. This feature has really taught her the importance of patience, taking her time, and double-checking her work before submitting. Although she gets a bit anxious hearing the sound when she makes a mistake, I believe it’s helping her become more comfortable with errors. We always remind her that it’s okay to make mistakes as long as we learn from them. IXL is great at providing explanations when you get a question wrong. It offers a detailed lesson on where she went wrong and what to do next time. Additionally, there are helpful hints if she’s confused about how to approach a question. Overall, IXL has been an absolute lifesaver for us, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to support their child’s learning journey!

I hate it. I was just in 5 grade , I hate this app, very bad, DO NO DOWNLOAD, I just download this app because in school I heard you guys are having teachers that encouraged you to use the app because of the school district. How many how many people were coming to which is parents, and if you guys like this, then your a parent or teacher, you will change your mind soon, if you get One Question wrong, it made decrease your points, if you get to 90s, and you get one question wrong, it decreased your points a lot, like down to 80 or 70, and my teacher told me to do 5, what a waste of time I live in Miami and I’m tired of the lessons. Trust me, it is bad. Look. I changed school for 5 days ago and when I’m gonna do IXL, these lessons has more than I thought. Is the middle of the school year. Thought please make this the top review I just want you guys to know that is a complete waste of time and frustration. I get frustrated this app a lot of times. 𝓣𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓴𝓼 𝓯𝓸𝓻 𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓭𝓲𝓷𝓰 📖. And thank god it got bug fixes I just don't like when it has bugs it happens a lot. A new update have come.

IXL teaches children to look up answers rather than find them for themselves.. I have been stuck with using IXL for years, and as a student, this is my point of view on IXL. When doing IXL, the amount of problems that you get assigned on later grade sections are too challenging. Not in the sense that they are bad math questions, but the sheer amount of questions combined with a low risk+high reward point system lowers my motivation to keep moving through a section of IXL. The minimum amount of questions you need to answer correctly is 30, and every wrong answer adds another 2-3 questions. Sometimes more, if you are unlucky. This specifically is what teaches kids "Huh. Why should i do all of this work when i can use an automatic calculator?" This massive mistake lowers motivation to work, and needs to be overworked. The help section rarely helps either, if you do not know a concept. In my case, i have to go to a seperate website to look up how to do the concept, Khan Academy. Let me tell you with 100% certainty that khan academy is far better when teaching new concepts, and mastering old ones. Instead of a mass amount of questions, you simply have to get a specific amount correct in a row, which is much more preferable. Take it from me, and try out khan. You will not regret it. Sal Khan is a hero to learning.

Read this before you download. I’m a student in middle school and my parents make me do this app. It’s torture. I would rather have my toe be stubbed a hundred times than do a single skill. Basically, for the math and English skills, you have to reach a smart score of 100 before you finish or else it bugs you to finish it. That part is ok because this app is meant for practicing a lot, but if you get one question wrong, your smart score goes from 95 to 86. You have to do it all over again. The reason people get the problems wrong is either they misclick or miswrite or they don’t get the stuff. IXL does not do a good job of explaining stuff, but makes people practice nonstop. So IXL isn’t really helpful if you want to learn more stuff, it’s an app for endless torture. There are many other reasons why I don’t like this app, but it actually made me cry for the first time in two years. Anyways, I think IXL can do WAY better, if not just get rid of it. But it’s your choice if you want to download it or not :)(not. Please do not download unless you want to damage your iPad by throwing it on the floor then accidentally missing and landing it on your big toe instead and then you start bawling your head off.)

INSANE, CRAZY , AND ABSURD!!! 😡. Do NOT buy this app, I am a 4th grader who HATES this app. I mean, sometimes you can learn, ONE thing but the rest of the time, it’s pure INSANITY! My sister and Brothers hate this app, it does horrible things, like make kids cry, make them stressed and make them angry. If you want you kid to do this, go ahead, if not, DONT EVEN THINK about making them do it on weekends and breaks, this wastes our time and fry’s out brain, we can’t talk, or even play games in our house without having to do 10 Ixl’s. My father thinks this app will make me smarter, but he does not know that kids hate this, I’d rather be in a pit full of spiders than do one question on IXL. The scoreboard is RIGGED! If you are on 98, and then you get a question wrong, by accidentally tapping the wrong one, you go down to 70! My friends hate this app, and they are even in GATE! People who rate this 5 star, You are either a teacher, or your parent/ guardian made you write it. If you hate this app, put one star, if not, go ahead do whatever you want. Teachers only like this app because it’s free for them, and it is hard and make kids think, even though most of my friends just search up answers. I hope this app gets taken down one day, If you disagree, It’s alright.

Awful. Not only does IXL frustrate me but it irritates many other kids. I use IXL for my math homework everyday and it is horrible towards my motivation. For one thing, the “smart score” holds students back. If you get one answer wrong, your smart score goes down. You can’t fully complete the skill unless it’s at 100. If im struggling with the topic, I lose interest in the subject and in trying to get a better grade. This is because the more you get wrong, the longer it’ll take to complete it. Extremely time consuming. That is what causes kids like me to get upset. I’d rather be playing outside then sitting down for 3 hours straight with my dad trying to help get my smart score higher. I honestly think that the skill doesn’t really help you at all with the topic anyway. If you have any confusion on the topic and you’re getting a lot of answers incorrect, it doesn’t try to explain it in another way either. If it explained things to be in a different way my understanding of the subject might be better. IXL could be a better learning experience if some changes were made.

DO NOT GET UNLESS YOU WANT TO CRY. Ok so the app it’s self isn’t that bad like the skills but, I hate it when I could be on like 99 and miss that question and go beach down to 83. Like I don’t think it’s necessary to send me back to 83% for one question, with just a little more help than maybe I could haven’t missed it and actually LEARNED something. Also at my school we HAVE to do IXL, but the amount of times I have cried or thought I was the dumbest person in the world is unacceptable. Especially since it’s supposed to be a “fun learning app.” How is it supposed to be fun if all I’m doing is getting frustrated because either it doesn’t make sense or it just sent me back 10%. But also it’s the schools fault to for making kids use this app and think it will help them when all it’s doing is making them cry and stressed out because they have to finish a skill before school or they might get a consequence from their teachers. overall, the app could’ve been much better if they just made it so it ACTUALLY helps you learn and doesn’t make homework just a blob of frustration, tears and anger from parents and kids because both parents and kids alike cannot understand it. Its supposed to be an app to help you learn, but if the adults don’t understand it then how do you expect a kid to understand it? One star couldn’t understand it.

Hate it, absolutely hate it. A few things need to change. First of all, why be setback by so many points? I could be at 99, so close to getting a perfect score, then I’ll get it wrong and I’ll be at 85 or something close to that. And then it’ll only go up by two points. I work so hard, then I get one wrong then have to answer another ten questions right to get to 100. When I was younger, I would cry because of how hard and stupid that was and it ruined the app for me. Sure, it helps with learning and all that, but the learning part is forgotten after I’ve gotten to 72 10 times. Another thing is wording. On one question, I capitalized the first letter of the word. I thought it would be fine I mean like, it’s the right word right? No. I got the question wrong JUST because I capitalized the first letter of the word. If I hadn’t capitalized it, then I would’ve gotten it right which made me go down several points. Also, the thing that pops up after you get something wrong doesn’t always help. Like on one (Can’t remember which one it was) Red Herrings and Straw Man seemed exactly the same to me so it took me forever to finish that one! I’d really appreciate if you could read this and make the app better with maybe a bit more fun added to it. IXL does help with learning again, but wrecks the fun of learning. Let me explain. As a student I think ixl is not very fun only because when you get a question wrong it sets you back more points than when you get one right. It’s still a good learning app exept for when it makes me cry out of flustration because of how it’s set up. Most teachers assign and encourage children to use this app because of the education that it offers. Yes it does offer good help and practice but is still quite annoying when I get one wrong and it sets me back even more points. I have heard from so many other kids that they dislike ixl because of the way it’s set up. This can often effect how long your child spends on the app trying to get a perfect score. They can stay up hours just trying to get that score, and in my opinion I think that ixl needs to be changed in a way that children are not staying up so late trying to get a good score and instead only spending so much time on the app. If ixl could make it so that when you get a problem wrong it demotes you the same amount of points as it would when you get one right. I think this would help so many children and parents not stay up late and still be able to practice. I don’t know if this function was on purpose and the ixl company had a reason for this, but almost every person I ask gives me an explanation on why they dislike ixl. ,sincerely an IXL user

Horrible App. As a student myself, using IXL puts more anxiety on top of all my work. Sometimes, I would spend hours on IXL because of its different learning style. I remember this one time I was doing a seventh grade topic. I was sitting at my computer for 4 hours trying to finish it. The last question had a fill in the blank at the beginning of the sentence. I capitalized the first letter because that is the proper grammatical way. Somehow, I got it wrong. I rechecked my spelling and I had spelled it right. But that one capitalized letter threw it off. I was so upset, and I’m sure I’m not the only student with this problem. I read reviews from schools that weren’t on the app store and I saw that the app is very expensive. Not because of the program, but the devices it’s being used on. On principal commented that they lost lots of money because of students raging at IXL. Now these reviews are going easy on IXL. But if students like me were to come on here, this app would be rated a 2 at the most. Teachers might think this app is good for learning, and it is. But this is one of the worst assignments a student could get. Please hear out cries to ban this app. I would’ve given it zero stars but I want my side of the story to be heard. Not just the teachers who are blinded by how “good” and “educational” IXL really is.

Point System. I have used IXL for four years now and although it does help me learn new concepts their point system is messed up. Once I wrote an answer and included a comma but the system said that my answer was wrong and made be go back about 10 points. Another time I was at 99 percent got the problem wrong and I was bumped back down to the 70s. This is NOT ok. Students like me work hard to achieve the the score their teacher require and when we make a tiny mistake or mess up a little we are taken so far back that we get really frustrated. We then weigh the costs of not doing the IXL. For some of my counterparts choosing not to do the IXL and getting a bad grade is better then continuing at the infuriatingly slow pace back to the top. Those of us that choose to continue doing the IXL may spend hours trying to get back up to our previous score because the number of points you get per question has been reduced and you are set so far back. IXL should take a serious look at their system and decide how far is too far back and reevaluate how much slower their users pace should be after a simple mistake.

Just read my review please. I give ixl 2 stars bc it is supposed to make you focused 🧘‍♀️ in your studies n’ stuff but I get distracted but the way I get distracted is by saying I can do it bc it’s just that hard and other stuff 🎞 I didn’t give it one star bc Im not mean and it kinda helps me learn but It is like never ending but when your in the challenge when you answer 1 question right you get one point like what was the reason- that’s doesn’t make any fracking sense and when you get ONE question wrong you go down like 100 point like ok jeez you might as well start me from the beginning so if you get triggered easily I wouldn’t recommend ixl but if you are persistent,patient and hardworking like others then go right on ahead it all yours 🕰 but in my opinion you cannot excel with ixl. And on a side note the time is wrong so I don’t get most of the reading patches like for example if my true end time was 9:06 it would say 8:56 so what’s the prob lol i don’t really give a flip but still that

Don’t even bother.. I’m a 4th grader who’s been dealing with this for 3 years so I know about it. It is unbelievable that the same company that makes abcYa made IXL. If you asked me if there was anything good about this app, I would say no, and they might sound like you can believe them, but don’t. The reviews made by parents YOU should not believe Because whenever you them to try it out themselves, they refuse to even do the Pre-K level. The app once you first it seems harmless but it’s not. You must think I am making every excuse in the book but I’m not. The app will send you backwards (1 to 8) points depending on where you are. Oh yah! I forget to mention it sends you back more points than you earn. My teacher always said that you are not learning anything if you’re not having fun. So even if you think I’m overeacting because it sends you backwards and you still will download this app, don’t use it to learn new topics. Oh yah! Please don’t get the books either and save your child from misery. I have to rap this up but the recommenders in the app don’t work and your app will glitch sometimes and tell you’re wrong. So do not on your dead body never ever get this app!

IXL. I’m a parent and I don’t like how we aren’t able to set it up on our personal phones or computers…my kids have learning disabilities and I feel it can help more if my kids can work on the same thing as many times as they want at home that they are in school to get better at it… the school has their own personal accounts for them so them having an account I can make for them at home isn’t going to bother anything for school but why can’t we as parents be able to have the exact account at home for more practice and learning for kids that way they doing the exact thing at school…also the point thing is ridiculous it causes kids to give up and just quit or put anything bc it takes way to long to pull score back up from a missed answer..also I think it will be good for school and home since everything is digital which is terrible for kids with adhd and disabilities but it would be great for them to give 3 examples and show step by step what to do before doing work like they just have to watch and listen before they have to actually do the lessons because the teachers don’t really teach anymore at all they literally just allow the computer to do it all so the computer needs to be set as acting as the teacher by showing 3 examples step by step mandatory to watch and listen to before any lesson began…help us help our children be successful as well

Do not recommend…. I’m a 6th grade student and my school always uses IXL for everything. Math, Science , Social Studies, and Writing. I really do not like IXL because you keep getting stressed since every question you get wrong, sets you back. It give you an explanation why you got it wrong but it shouldn’t set you back just because you got it wrong? You know on tests you answer ALL the questiones then you turn it in. On here, you can be on here for hours if you still don’t understand the concept. Trust me, I have been on a IXL recommendation for Math for 2 hrs straight until I finally had to ask my parents for help. IXL is a very quality app you can learn, but sometimes if you can’t understand, you will be on here for hours at best. And it’s really annoying when you thought you knew the answer so u wouldn’t get set back. So thay just makes you more stressed. I do about 2 IXLs per week per subject. So that means I literally have 8 IXL’s to do per week?! Very stressful indeed! And it’s funny when the teacher says, “Yall it gives you a explanation why you got it wrong so stop complaining.” -My science teacher So yeah please I do not recommend if you can’t handle the stress and I do manage lol!

trash. this app is awful and i don’t say this just because i’m a student who doesn’t like homework. teachers need to start listening to what students have to say because just because we don’t like homework doesn’t mean our reasons for thinking their work or programs are stupid aren’t valid. the whole idea of this app is trash. if a student doesn’t understand a subject it leaves them stuck on one lesson for hours and hours with a ridiculous point keeping system. you answer a question correctly early on and it’s worth 10 pts but you answer correctly later on in the lesson and it’s worth like 3 pts. explain to me how that makes sense. it’s hard to navigate, glitches out, is unfair, and just doesn’t offer a good way to teach or practice math. this is a trash app and it disappoints me that teachers and/or school districts require this. their efforts need to start going towards finding efficient and helpful ways for students to practice. if i could rate IXL 0 stars i would and it bothers me greatly that i can’t and have to give it even 1 but this review should be put out there

It’s great!. This is the worst thing that is ever created. I could not finish the IXL just because it took out so many points. I was at 82. It took away nine points. That made me so mad literally I think I crashed down on it plus, the app is really glitchy sometimes and I don’t know why your sign me out when I have the password. It’s honestly really annoying. Well I might as well give it a four stars because we’re not the four star but like a 4.6 cause it’s good but it’s not the greatest. The greatest app for me it’s really good for helping me and my class mates, but I don’t think they like it either but who cares about their opinion anyway this is a great app, but I would recommend not taking so many points away so like people in my class don’t have missing homework or get really mad that they break something of theirs. That’s really important. Anyway, this app is great overall I hope they make more apps like this.

Too hard on kids. I am a parent and a teacher. I really like the concept behind IXL and find the choices of skills very thorough. It is a great learning tool in many respects. My kids used to love it because they would get stars they could click on for prizes. The problems come in when a child gets something wrong (or simply puts in a comma for a number like “1,000” when the app is designed to expect “1000”). IXL will mark them wrong and take them back at least 10-20%, after which they can only get back extremely slowly. My daughter has sat at the computer in tears and bawled about how “mean” it is. Due to all the frustration, complaints, and tears from kids and parents, my children’s school stopped offering IXL this year and switched the it subscription over to Prodigy. I actually switched my own kids over to Time4Learning to practice because it is much less harsh. It will tell them what they got wrong and explain the reason without expecting them to do a huge portion of the lesson all over again to regain their points. I would encourage the people behind this app to seriously consider revamping how they tackle “wrong” answers and typos. I get that a kid can need a little more practice, but when it sets them back so terribly far, it takes all the joy of their successes away form them and leaves them devastated. Not good:(!

Really boring. I’m a middle school student and my district does IXL. The thing is IXL is a bad program. Yes I do learn but barely. First if you get a question right it only goes 1% or 2% up. But if you get a question wrong it goes about 10% or 30% down. It takes about half an hour to complete a lesson if you know the material and a hour or more if you don’t. It’s also boring to students. Some teachers assign it as homework like in my school. I do the homework but it’s very boring. There’s nothing entertaining about it like other websites/apps I used in my previous school. Next the lessons are too easy for the grade. The lessons I do for my grade are way easier then expected. I was expecting a challenge like some websites/apps do to help people learn but no. The lessons are more like for the grade behind the one you’re actually in. The only good thing about IXL is the diagnostic. It’s actually a diagnostic that makes sense and actually helps people learn. If you’re a parent or teacher looking for a website to use for your kids or school I would NOT recommend this website/app.

don't download in my opinion!. i am a 6th grade student who's school does ixl, it is very stressful. we have to do 3 a week for math and 2 for english. we do skill plans based on our testing, I am very good at english and math so I score high. the problem is my skill level. I have been doing 11th and 12th grade english since 4th grade. I have also been doing calcus and algebra math. it had gotten so hard to the point where my own teacher could not do it. she, (math teacher) had let me do recommendations, they were still so hard. then it led to me purposely doing bad on my diagnostic, (not the same as state testing dw) so I would get easier things. the english is not too hard, but the stress of a learning program should not make any kids cry. our school is a blue ribbon school so we are doing things already a couple grades ahead of us, so regular school is already hard. our ixls for the week which I previously mentioned, carry over if we do not finish all of them. at the end of our school year, many kids couldn't go to the party we had because of the amount of ixls, I for one, was a kid that had 17 ixls during the school year. I finished them, but some didn't. one of my bsfs reese had 10, (I helped her finish) one kid had 50 to do, I know, thats sound really bad. so in summary I think this could really be helpful if it is just take it slow, do your grade level etc etc. sincerely, caroline just trying to spread awareness about the app!

Lots of mistakes but am only gonna say a couple. I like this to help me in my math and language arts, but they got lots of mistakes, I like this but let’s talk about the score you get when you get a problem correct or wrong. I did this and when I got a problem wrong, it will just take 12 or 13 points away AND when I get a problem right, it only gives me 1 or 2 points and I wasn’t even close to the challenge! Also there is no music and it’s kinda makes bored and the noises in this learning app is just the noises when you get it wrong or right. I hope you understand and that am not sending hate AT ALL and that it needs to liven up. So please do not get mad and fix those mistakes please! (Extra) It also lacks the colorful theme and that it should have coins, gems, tickets and I’ll tell you why. The Coins can be use to buy power-ups like have a second chance or unlock new subjects. The gems can be use to buy awesome power-ups like buy the themes and makes your own avatar. The tickets can be use for spicy challenges like making the problems ALL CHALLENGING. I really hope you add those things because I will send a 5 or 4 star if you do, And have a good day!

Horrible. For starters, I’m a sophomore in high school and I used to use ixls a LOT in 8th grade. Now I’m geometry, we’re made to do them. As of right now, my teacher has assigned 75 ixls for me to do and finish in about a month, which is doable, however it starts to become a problem when you and your fellow classmates start to constantly get frustrated and upset over the “smart score” system. It’s rigged. You get a problem right? About 4 points added. You miss one though? You’re dropped about 9 points. This is extremely frustrating when you don’t understand a problem and you miss it and you’re dropped low. While the app offers an “explanation” on why you missed a problem, it doesn’t help. Half the time I find that it’s not even a true explanation! Math is also not my strong suit, so I’m constantly missing problems. I’ve had nights where I’ve had to stay up in tears trying to get to the goal my teacher set for me and it’s been hard to reach. Overall, unless you enjoy your students/kids stressed/upset/unmotivated over their work, I DON’T recommend this stupid program at all.

This is too hard!. I have been using this to do my math lessons for about a year but when I get one wrong it brings me down so low! It really stresses me out and when I make my way back up, I get one wrong and it knocks me all the way down. When I use to be in class we would have our time to finish our lessons and I would hear my classmates get stressed and say, “Nooooooo!” At home I do it the most because I don’t want my classmates hear me get stressed and cry. I have a little bit of anger issues and when I get really frustrated I break down and cry. This isn’t helping. I know you didn’t make this app to stress kids out but it does! And when I get to the 90’s it goes up by 1! And if it brings you down you go down like 6 points! It takes me so long to finish a lesson because of this. I wrote this because I’m stressing right now! I put $5.00 as my answer and it said I was wrong so I scrolled down and it just said $5. I got it wrong because I put and decimal and 2 zeros at the end?! That made me mad. I’m am currently stressed and I don’t want my friends to be stressed anymore, please at least fix the point problem. Thank you.

ABSURD!. this app is horrible. it has made my kids cry multiple times and is just downright evil! its point system is the worst I’ve ever seen! if you get one right it’ll give you 2 points but if you get one wrong it’ll take away 20! both of my gifted high achieving kids came home in tears because of this app/website! its outrageous! my childrens’ confidence in all subjects has gone downhill because of this absurd system. the ‘challenge zone’ is the possibly worst thing coded into an app. it goes one point by one from 90 and takes you back to 70 if you get a question wrong. i shouldn’t have to stay up until midnight helping my daughters with punctuation as the other swims through mountains of variables and exponents! its astonishing that these teachers are so blind to whats right in front of them when they assign this to children. this app is absolutely absurd. the next time my daughters get assigned ixl, I’m talking to the teacher. i refuse to have my children and other children put up with this. anxiety can be a very large problem with growing teens and tweens and this website helps cultivate it even more. this is such a downright silly system and i feel horrible for the young kids whose parents make them use this app. its the worst thing you can do for your kid and and is the least encouraging form of practice for these poor students.

I hate IXL so much!. First of all, of course you don’t need to set back many points! I almost broke my iPad because of YOU IXL. Second, just why! When you fail, you give us an equation the right one and it works for a question ER-ER! Huh? No sense! Thirdly, your scamming all of US! My little brother, Franklin, he hit a CORRECT answer, and ba-bang, goes back 28 points and only earns 2. Hello? Are you stupid or something? Last but no least, stop making us rage! You’ve heard I almost broke my iPad once. Eh, the ‘once’ thingy. I meant a thousand. Stop, and why do you need to setback points to make us break our devices? I know, you wanna get us in trouble. And, seriously! These math equations are to impossible! I literary have to go all the way back! Even the ‘tutorials’ don’t help! Their scams! I hate it! Absolutely! So I like this app but also hate it kinda because we know as a student I don’t like it because if a question is wrong and you are at 80 percent it will take you 70 or 71 let’s say and it’s an problem cause I am here doing my best at every problem and getting it wrong and it takes me 9 or 10 points down only because I got one question wrong I am not sure if it takes me 10 or 9 points down if that’s not right I am sorry but it still take me down so much points and it gets me really mad and frustrated and the one thing that it different is that I don’t know if it happens to someone else but i have been seeing that I do an problem and it’s right but when I submit it and see it after I see that I got it wrong and then I scroll down and I see that the ANSWER IS RIGHT but it is saying it’s wrong and I was like what it’s not fair it’s right but still it says it’s wrong and takes me down but still I like IXL don’t take it seriously but please fix it . It is Supposed to Teach You. Some people are writing reviews about how bad IXL is and honestly I used to think so too, but now I understand the purpose of IXL is to teach you not to just turn a blind eye if you get a question wrong. When you get a question wrong, it puts you back so many points because that way you will get more practice and actually understand the stuff. If you get a question wrong because you don’t know the answer, IXL provides an explanation - if you read it you will understand the question. Again, the point of IXL is to teach students so if you get a question wrong, read the explanation carefully and you will understand. If you are trying to finish as fast as you can, you should still read the explanation - it will actually help you get it done faster. So IXL is a really great app and I would definitely recommend it. The only thing I wish IXL would change would be the automatic submission on some questions. Thanks for taking the time to read my review!

Better than the computer, and less harsh. I downloaded this on my phone to make us easier than going on the laptop, and it is. It is much less harsher than the lap top and I like it better. Only problem is how many points it takes away if you get it wrong. Especially if you actually got it right, but you typed a letter wrong or added a comma. If someone gets it wrong, take away less points. It would save lots of frustration. Also the prizes. Boring. Not very motivational for anyone above the age of six. If there were bonuses or something you could use to lose less points that would be nice. For example, instead of getting a prize like a shoe or a boat, you would get a save that you could use during a skill. If applied when losing points, you could lose less points. I hate when I want to get it over with but I lose points right at the last question. Except for that, no problem with it. Been using for two years. Definitely try it out, see if u like it. 👍🏼👍🏼

Nice but needs improvements. As a student in 5th grade I personally think IXL is pretty good but I just don’t like the way it is set up . For example when you get a question wrong it takes down points. But it takes a lot of points down, and most off my friends also don’t like the way it is set up. But IXL is pretty good and I use it for math. It has fun math games that you can play but you can only until your in 5th grade so middle schoolers and high schoolers don’t have that. Also when you are learning a new topic they can show you a video or you could just learn with an example. IXL has almost 600 skills for 5th grade and so many skills for other grades and I also do IXL for 6th grade and it is pretty good. Also to include IXL has skills plan. Skill plan are the plan for the math book that you are doing it may not be math only but also other workbooks. I have been using IXL for about 3 years and I am pretty happy with it. So if you want to get IXL I would recommend it!😃😃

Confidence destroyer. I’ve been using IXL for many years now and as a person who has suffered at the rath of IXl for a while now I have many reasons to hate IXl. #1 when I was elementary our teachers would say that you have to get to 90 or above, and I would get so exited when I would get to 98 because it was so hard to learn anything on it so unless I knew the concept I was set up for failure. Anyway, I would be at 98 and get a question wrong and then boom I’m either at 84 or at 78 and working my way back up takes forever! #2 When it comes to times where you get a question wrong it is so frustrating because instead of being encouraging and having messages like “better luck next time” it says straight up “INCORRECT” and children can look down and see what they did wrong but because they lost so many points they are eager to get those points back but the cycle of failure and sadness only repeats itself. #3 IXL doesn’t know the answer a few times. For example I was in fourth grade when I got a math question that said “(3x3+2)” it was easily 11 because 3x3=9 and 9+2=11 ,but then I get it wrong because according to IXL the correct answer is 18. I have many more reasons but please fix this rigged, confidence killing, unhelpful, laggy, app be better!

IXL is an awful platform and is useless for learning. I have been using IXL for school since fourth grade (so like four almost five years, I’m in eighth grade now figure out the math yourself) and I absolutely loathe it. They take waaay too long to complete and I barely get them done when I have soo much going on outside of school. And the outrageous amount the teachers assign is ridiculous. Like when you get one wrong it sets you back more points than you can get back in one question. It has caused me mental breakdowns and I’m 100% sure that most people will say the same thing. I don’t even learn anything from them. It’s just busywork basically. And it’s mainly the math ones that are the problem. You don’t see any other teachers assigning three even four a week do you? No and it’s stupid. It drives me insane and I want to do them even less when my parents are constantly nagging on me for not doing the ELEVEN from last week when I was out the last two days on a trip. IXL has wrecked (maybe that’s a bit exaggerated but oh well) my mental health. Teachers shouldn’t assign something that is not necessary that will cause students mental breakdowns.

does not want you to xl. i am a student in school who has been forced to complete ixl’s for homework and classwork. teachers love ixl. we students do not. they take forever, and the more points you have, the less you earn for a correct answer, and the more you loose for a wrong one. so if you are almost done, ixl will decide to mark your correct answer wrong and send you back a bunch, making you spend another 15 minutes on top of the already 3 hours spent. and during those 3 hours spent on the one ixl about quadratics you have 3 anxiety attacks and cry four times because of the sheer stupidity of how ixl phrases the correct answer so that if you complete it the way your teacher wants you too, and it’s right for some questions, then randomly it will appear right and is right when you check you math it, but once you submit it, ixl didn’t finish it all the way and the half finished product is the answer. ixl is a load of bull, and i do not recommend it for anyone, because, quite frankly, IXL, doesn’t want you to XL. i hope that ixl gets shut down, or at least sued for causing mental health problems in teens globally.

Adaptive Learning. Ok, we have used this app for 3 years now. My child hates it. But, here’s why: it makes him work. This app doesn’t really ‘teach’. As the parent/educator, that work falls to you. What the app does is provide a progressive workbook like structure to practice the skills you are learning, be it possessive nouns or 2 digit multiplication. When you get an answer incorrect, it provides the correct answer and then goes on to explain the rule or principle behind reaching the correct answer. Then, and this is why I believe it has garnered ill will - it will make the student go back and practice more questions. Adaptive learning. The more you miss, the further back on the completion bar you go. Which a paper textbook can’t do. So yeah, if the child can slog through a subject he doesn’t understand fully and simply ‘move on’ to the next topic and forget about it - sure that would probably be easier. But, with this app, you can’t fake it. If my child begins to struggle and is slipping back, I know I need to stop the app, take a break, then provide further instruction before he tackles it again. The app is a great, no nonsense workhorse of an app. Mum approved! :-)

Rigged. Really stressful for kids and it shouldn’t be it should be some where where they can learn about tons of subjects. When you go from a 99 to an 82 it’s really stressful to get back up there even if you just get one question wrong. This is usually where teachers go to give their students an assignment they’re currently teaching. And its not good because it puts a lot of stress to our minds. Which can lead to many bad things. To be honest, you might wanna consider cutting us kids some slack because some of us had worked super hard to get to that 100. Oh and one more complaint just coming from myself. I was once and at 81 and then got the next question right and got up to an 82! I wasn’t in the challenge zone! I was still in the 80s! The challenge zone is where you only get one point one question when you’re in the 90s! This might be a silly complaint but still consider fixing this app. It’s actually kind of a game which is most games. CONSIDER IT!! Some kids and I have too have had tears in our eyes because of the stress this app causes us. Staying up late and trying to to this so we can get a passing grade. Update: For example, when you do a couple problems and get to like a 60 the difficulty automatically changes! You could at least try to make it harder as we go not if we just get to one question

Parents listen up!. I am only putting 5 stars so people will see this! I have used ixl for about a year now and I am sobbing every week. Parents only see the good side of ixl but ixl has ruined many kids and teens mental health. For example…kids will spend so much time working on ONE question and is will say ur wrong! And the questions that they put with a lesson with, let’s say 5 grade levels are most of the time good put some questions 40 % of those questions can be 7th grade level. I also have some requests! Ixl needs at least 2 to 4 brain breaks in one lesson, like maybe show a joke or a little clip from cartoons. Another one is like don’t take so much points from getting one question wrong! Like at my micro school we only have to go to 85, and sometimes I will have 83 or something and I will get one question wrong, and I’m at 74! IXL PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY BECAUSE ITS THE TRUTH FOR EVERYONE!

Very frustrating. Today I wasn’t feeling too well so when I got on ixl I was vary shaky so I’m made a few mistakes in ixl and I was fine until I was at 89% I was almost done and you guessed it it set me back to 78 I was very frustrated and the point system is the worst part you only go up to or three points and you go down 5 or 7 many or my classmates struggle with the same thing but it’s not all bad you do get prizes not very good ones but still kinda fun so maybe if they step it up a bit it will make it more enjoyable for kids like me struggling with the same issues. Hi this me in sixth grade editing this review and if anything it’s gotten WORSE I was just doing a skill and I was getting pushed back all because it wanted me to put it in a certain order/position the app didn’t describe and it just makes everyone in my class cry once I cried for an hour straight and its just not positive towards children’s learning system it has made me feel bad about myself and doesn’t encourage a positive mindset it creates a negative attitude and mindset. For your own sake and mental health please don’t get this and at this point I don’t even think the developers reviews to make the app better is that the kind of mindset that you want to put your kid in? - Amelia 5th grade and sixth grade

If Stress was an app…. IXL homework wouldn’t be a problem if IXL wasn’t the worst learning app ever created. I tried to practice parallel structure, but after I did one exercise, it was just repeats of the same 15 questions on all the other ones. Even the other grades parallel structure questions are identical. I can’t practice if I’ve gotten to the point of seeing the first word and have memorized the answer because I’ve seen it 5 times. Teachers don’t understand that IXL’s so called ‘explanations’ don’t make sense, and are NOT a substitute for actually teaching us. Their point system is one of the most discouraging thing I have ever seen. It would be different if you earned 5 points for correct answers, and lost 3 or even 5 points for incorrect answers. But when I get to 99 percent and my finger slips, or I forget to add a coma, boom, down to 83 and I’m slamming my iPad on my bed and screaming. If your going to go through the process of creating a torture device for children, at the very least make the point system better. This app symbolizes all that is wrong with the educational system. Don’t download unless you want your computers and iPads to be thrown on the ground and your students to hate school, especially math.

Just awful. I have been using this for about a month and I am already getting mad. Here is the reason why, today I was at 99 and I accidentally pressed the wrong button and that question was an automatic submission. And just because of that I went back down to 83 and I knew the answer. Today I also decided that the app was kinda glitchy because I always count the last few seconds when I’m done and I know 100% that I ended on 4 minutes and 53 seconds but it said on my score it took me 5 minutes and 5 seconds. Also please at least put some boosts in this really really awful app because when I get a question wrong I don’t even waste a second on the things it has to say I just move on. I would like for the boosts to remove the timing part( for a whole session of course because it will be waaaaay too short of it was only for a few seconds.) And this app is like pay or no play because it only gives you about 40 seconds to play for free and then it doesn’t let you do it anymore or you’ll need to pay 20 dollars for math and language arts without the social studies or science ( witch is my favorite lesson) and I am NOT OKAY with that. But if you do make this very very very very very annoying and boring app better I will give a better review and rate it 3 or 4 stars (5 if you lower the pay, please it’s way to expensive.) Plus I bet everyone else will rate it 4 or 5 stars instead of 1 or 2. Thanks if you do it. And if you don’t I hope you survive all of the bad reviews.

Lots of bugs. This app needs more work done to it. I’m a student so I am using it on my iPad for school. The handwriting thing needs to be worked on more, it glitches up (a lot). My teacher is having me and my classmates use this for math. The glitch is where I write something in the box thing and it thinks it’s something entirely different. This is an issue because when I submit it, it says that I got it wrong when I actually got it right. And thus sends me down the progress bar, which is vary annoying. I suggest maybe having a whole lot of people write down numbers or whatever, this way if you progress it into the system it will understand more. My handwriting is just fine by the way. There is also more glitches with the workspace area when you write in it. I suggest checking that out too. It’s when I put my pen or anything on the surface it lags and makes whatever I’m writing super hard to read. This makes me use a different app for writing things down to replace a work area. Maybe you can partner with a company that does stuff like this, or fix it on your own. I hate this app because of all of these bugs. My teachers made us move to this app from freckle. I personally don’t like that decision. Just because this app needs some serious maintenance. Just shut the app down for however long you need to to do maintenance, the users aren’t going to die cause of that. Thank you for reading.

confusing!. I’m a student in 3rd grade and my parent is encouraging me to use this app I think it is fine but it’s confusing to navigate through the app. IXL doesn’t give any instructions at all of how to use this app. My second complaint is that the “recommendations” part is weird! I did a course to see what level I’m at and it put me to 5th doing things I don’t even understand and never learned in 3rd grade at all! Some of the past reviews say that it’s a stressful app and one of them said there kids came home in tears because it put their level down low? I really don’t think that’s how a kid should feel after a math app. If you’ve had these experiences try “Zearn” or “Kumon” because in both of those apps it doesn’t make you feel bad or mad or sad. If you’ve ever had a bad experience with this app try those apps they are better. I hope the owner reads this and tries to find a way to make a better experience in this app. I am not trying to spread hate into this app I’m just trying to make it better but so far none of the reviews have a developer response and I really hope someone reads this and does something about it. Horrible. This app has made several children stay up all night to get ixls done. This app is super stressful for kids because of its point system and poorly explained video tutorials. The point system is just all messed. Let’s say your score is around 60. You miss one. The score goes down. That’s it’s first flaw. It goes down. And not to mention when you get the next answer right it goes up LESS then what it was BEFORE you missed the question. This can cause you to be at an 83 and go down to a 65. It should not go down like that. Next the tutorials. There has not been a single tutorial that has helped me at all. They are porky explained and don’t cover anything for the harder levels of the assignment. Example I was doing a scale factor ixl. I forgot how to do scale factors with a fraction. So I watched the tutorial video. It showed nothing of what to do. The only hit of fractions it had also had the option of whole numbers. So what did they do? Instead of having on exposing how to do it with fractions they just did the same thing they done earlier in the video. Not to mention there was decimals in the ixl as well. The video didn’t explain how to do it with a decimal. This app is just straight up bad. The only reason you’d want this is to stress out a child. That’s it. Thank you for your time.

Very good education. IXL is very fun. I do it at my school and I love winning awards and sometimes I do the pre-K and I like wearing awards from the pre-K because I use them as my icon and I also like changing my icon it’s very fun changing it so I hope everybody likes it I think language arts is my favorite part of IXL because all the little words are adorable especially the third grade one. There’s no problem about IXL it’s a great learning for kids. It’s pre-K through geometry so pre-K through 12 so anybody can do it like I said there’s geometry and there’s a new one it’s social studies but there’s no awards for that. That’s the thing that is annoying you do all that work and you have to restart in the social studies. If you get one wrong that’s the thing I don’t like about the social studies one but everything else is really fun. NAV is also really fun. I like doing the pictures in social studies like you click on one and then if you get it right there’s like parts that you have to do and like if you get one wrong, you fill them up and there’s usually two or three parts to do and another thing that I think you should change is that some people don’t know they’re like password but I use my school password so you can use that. I love IXL best game ever.

This app is absolutely horrible.. So I’m a student in 7th grade, I’ve been doing this since 4th and all I have to say is this app is horrible, when you get a question wrong it does explain it to you but it has a meter that will go down, you need to get said meter to 100, if you get to 80% the questions start getting harder and it puts you up less and down more, so if your at 90% and get a question right you get to 92%, but if you the next one wrong you go down to 72%, it’s extremely unfair and has before caused me to get to my breaking point before and start crying. The app also tells you how many questions you’ve done and doesn’t care even if you’ve done 100 questions, and you may think “oh but how do you know?” Because I’ve gotten to 100 questions before. On top of all this, it also doesn’t help you, it gives you a 1-3 minute video that you can only watch once or twice and then you can’t watch it again. In conclusion, as a student I genuinely hate this app and pray my teachers realize how horrible and pressure inducing this app truly is. If your reading this, thank you for your time.

Ban it. This app is just something to waste of your time on it is supposed to be about helping kids learn but all it is during is letting kids cheat on it so there can get over with it. Also when you get something wrong it should not have to push you back from it. It should just stay at the number is on. Like if you 60 and you get it wrong you should let it stay at 60 instead of pushing you back at like 50. If you went to my school and you were in 8-12 grades if you use this app some kids stay up till 5 in the morning on this app because if it is 89 or under it is a 0. That means they will be tired and some kids would sleep in classes so you are taking there learning time away by them by letting the students catch up on there sleep in classes so there want learn anything while they are there. The teacher should be helping us with something not this stupid app because that is they job. If you are homeschooled then you could use this but if you really think about it this app is supposed to be for people that is homeschooled. If you use this app then I suggest you use another one that is a lot easier to everyone then this app because this app is not even letting kids learning what they need to learn.

A BIG Issue. I am writing this review because this app had a VERY BIG ISSUE! When I am doing maths, I get the answers correct and it says that I am wrong and it makes up another answer. This is very annoying and you should fix this immediately. The app should also include what your weakness are for maths and English and give you some tasks to improve on. Encourage. I am writing to inform you that this app is based off what most people need and I would lo be if you could either make another app or improve this one to everyone’s need for example : if you could make an app that tells us how do the equation and how we were either wrong or right and what we need to work on as well as if we were wrong what part of the question did we get wrong and just simple things like that. Technically speaking I want to be able to make an app that you can learn at home as if a teacher is teaching you but and app is you know what I mean it would make life so much easier not hating just giving advice and please if this is possible I would love to try it out because as me I’m complicated everything very easy that most people can do and easily understand I’m incapable of understanding so people usually won’t teach everyone that being in a public school but also me not having the strength to go ask a teacher because of embarrassment is annoying considering I need help but I can’t ask but if this is possible it would help also. 2 bugs and why is it for age of 4? or is it just me?. I love ixl but has a bug like if you touch the two numbers sometimes it takes away one,sometimes it says like you got not all of them right like you got one and it gives you more and iam actually happy bc it gives me more time and why is it the age of 4 it has to be 1 bc it’s the best game to learn hit 5 star bc best learning game

Pretty good but needs some work. I homeschool and am in year 10. I use mostly use IXL for maths and I use the diagnostic tests for both maths and English. I’m very behind on maths but am almost finished school for most of my English. This app has been super helpful but I wish you didn’t lose so many points for getting a single question wrong. It’s super annoying when I’m almost finished a lesson and I get one question wrong and I have to get so many questions right to make up. It would also be nice if you got more points for the questions as you get further along. You could also add better rewards (the current ones are MS paint quality pictures 😒) and the avatars are also really poor quality. 3/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s fine. IXL has its cons and it’s pros. It has taught me quite a lot over these past 3 years, but it does sometimes make me feel angry, frustrated & upset due to its unfair smart-score system. However bad, the IXL scoring system is, it has unfortunately improved my math and sorta my English. The only other problem I have with the IXL app is that whenever I am doing a task and I am in the middle of answering a question which involves typing, I always accidentally press the submit button instead of the space button. If you could make a slight moderation it would be most appreciated & may hopefully make my IXL experience much more enjoyable. Thx P.S I started when I was in in yr 2

STOP THE TORTURE. IXL is torturing our children. It makes them rage quit constantly, become discouraged and get stressed. Being angry and stressed has scientific evidence of having an impact on your health. IXL escorts negative emotions (stress, discourage and anger) to the victims that are our children. This DOESN’t help AT ALL. This app can also have impacts on the mental health of children. So IXL has a negative impact on both physical and mental health. These people who created this app have serious issues, are VERY GREEDY and don’t care about our children’s health. Let’s work together to stop TORTURING our children. Awesome. This is a fantastic app, the learning is clear and fun. I love how it goes from Preschool to Year 12, as I have 3 kids, 1 in preschool, 1 in Year 3, and one in Year 6 and they can all share the app as they go from year to year. My preschooler is finding it fun, it’s very effective for him and my Year 3 and year 6 girls are completing the tasks with ease. IXL is worth the money to anyone looking for a great app

Just some tips. So I was doing this hard one and i realised that every time I got it wrong it makes It longer to finish it. So I think if you get it wrong you could redo it at the end. Amazing. I don’t know what some of those other reviews were on about, probably just kids not wanting to learn but anyway.I’m a kid and I love this, it explains thing easier than my teacher and it’s got lots of good info, one problem is that sometimes I get the same question twice but other than that it’s really good especially for parents can see what we’ve done 👍

Ixl is great for years 1-12. I would prefer the app than the website because it has things, like noises and it is generally better. I just don’t like the fact that it is only available on iPhones or iPads and the app doesn’t come on Apple computers/ Mac. Overall, Ixl gives you an excellent explanation of any incorrect questions so you should get it because the app is free. But you should keep in mind you have to pay yearly for Ixl. Though, the app works with no issues at all unlike Ixl which constantly crashes and has problems and along with maintenance requirements. But I still rate it 5 out of 5 for studies, you should definitely get it.

Some questions doesn’t make sense. Some of the questions doesn’t make sense, all though I am the son who is writing this my mom allowed me to download it on my device, but that fact doesn’t matter, most of the word questions doesn’t make sense, its either the grammar or the fact I’m stupid. There is also some questions which needs you to be very specific with your answers like if the answers is 5 . 6 and your answer is 6 . 5 you will get it wrong, I would suggest making this type of questions have multiple ways of answering this or put a note saying to put your answers in ascending/descending order. But it’s still a good learning app

IXL is good for learning. IXL is a great thing to learn things it has a lot of questions that kids have to learn. IXL is very good for kids it could get harder but they still have to learn so they can get smart and have 1000 things that they learn from IXL it’s a good app I guess well it is for kids but I passed school so I don’t have to do it anymore because I am smart already because I am a 25 so I am old enough to work but not learn

It’s a mediocre app. This app has been helping me with my one enemy, percentages. I would just make different explanations every time. I don’t understand the explanation you put down for percentages. Not stating the fact that your points get dropped so low if you get one wrong in the challenge zone. I will say, the app is way better than the website. But maybe make it more enjoyable and easy to get up to 100. Overall, this app is great! Keep it up :)

‘Excel’lent. If I could I would give you a 5 star but what about us who are vegetarian or vegan when questions about meat and stuff come up, we know the answer but just cannot answer because it is too horrible, if you could make no food related questions then you would deserve more than a 5 star.

Amazing Learning Tool. I have been using IXL for like 2 years and every day my IQ rises and rises. I think IXL is a very powerful app to study and learn! I am still 10 years old and I get so much more smarter already! I would recommend IXL for anyone to prep-grade 12. This app is making me get way much more better grades in school. Too harsh punishment and system full of mistakes. I think that this app has some definite good spots, but the downsides out way. I have no idea of the price of this app(or even if this app is free), so instead i’ll be writing about the experience. First of all, as a regular user of this app, the auto correct system is difficult and hard for people with messy hand writing. Often my answers are marked incorrect when I knew what number I truly wrote. Once in the 70s to Challenge Zone (90+) the marks you get per question decrease whilst the amount they deduct increase. I sometimes find myself moving down 3 (three answers) marks in the challenge zone which frustrates myself mentally.

Submit button needs to be moved. Move submit button to bottom right where return usually is. It’s where the space bar should be and I keep getting answers wrong from pushing submit instead of space. I’m sure others have this problem too. Awesome app otherwise.

Very good learning app. I really love this app because it teaches you things based on the curriculum of your year level. To be honest, it teaches better than my teachers do and I can understand things more easily. Parents can also see how much their child has used IXL in analytics. It also shows you worked out solutions with explanations to teach you how to do the questions when you make a mistake. I really love this app and it has really helped me learn a lot more better. If you use this app I believe that you will become way more smarter than you were before.

Thank god this exists. When I came to my new school we got our usernames and passwords to ixl at the time I had no idea what it was but when we went to the computer room and did some skills I immediately told my parents about it and when I showed them ixl on my pc they were impressed and I actually do 2 hours of ixl every day now and I’m just 9 yrs old which means I’m in yr 4 and I have a goal to complete for 2019 to finish the whole English and maths yr 4 column and well I’m almost there eeeeeek!!!! So what I mean by this is u should definitely download IXl it’s the BEST APP EVER!!!!!!!

Pretty bad.... This is a horrible app, it makes my children a lot more STRESSED and it doesn’t make Maths and English appealing to them. They first get most of the questions right but then they get one wrong, and it keeps on continuing, get one right, getting one wrong. Each time they get more FRUSTRATED and they start to whine and cry. Once you reach around 80 to 90 the questions are RIDICULOUS, they sometimes get EXTREMELY long and there’s no point of teaching them something that long, only the basic structure. This app is NOT worth your money.

I’m happy with this educational program. My son has tried a few different educational programs online, however never really stayed interested until finding this one.. My son has Autism & ADHD so finding a program that can keep him interested and helping him learn is just so important on our homeschooling journey. I highly recommend ☺️

It’s not the best but also not the worst. Honestly speaking, this app did help me improve my English and vocabulary a little bit 🤷‍♀️. But what I don’t like about is the scoring system, like if I was at 97 points and I had to get to a hundred in order to finish the task. If I get just that question wrong, I would be pulled all the way back to like 79… And it would take SO MANY questions just to get me up back to that point. And the more questions you get wrong, the more questions they give you. Sometimes it would take me a full hour to finish task because of the points. I bet if you fixed this so many other people would be downloading and not have the old complaints.

Ixl. IXL is a great app to learn. at first it may seem as something that is really boring but once u get rlly into it, it can be very fun. my favourite part of IXL is that i can get prizes. IXL has helped me a lot in my maths and english although i am still in grade five i am looking forward to all the other years ahead of me in IXL. ixl helps me to have courage at school and i don’t have to rlly struggle!!

It’s nice. This app is very nice and teaches you lots of things but can something be a little diss encouraging when you are nearly finished and takes you back a lot I know this is for the benefit of the child but at least can you make it a little less when it comes to get something wrong. Also in the explanation can you please add a little more explaining. Over all it’s a great app and really helps in English and maths which gives the child more which is absolutely great. *cries in pain*. I absolutely despise the smart score scoring system. You can work really hard to reach 90 but if you get ONE question wrong, then all your progress and effort has been erased and all that time you just spent working your way to the top has been wasted. Thanks IXL…. For teaching the next generation that no matter how hard they try they will never succeed at ANYTHING IN LIFE. And even if you do earn something it will only be worth a small square with a picture of Niagara Falls and insects. And even when I DO end up finishing, At the end I don’t feel any accomplishment, I only feel stupid for letting my mother pay a subscription for this. Total rubbish. IXL is the worst app probably ever made. I here my kid ragging so badly that once he almost broke the wall by punching it. Oh look 99 percent gets the last one wrong 50- like I can’t sometimes he starts cussing in a pillow and no he sometimes punches the screen You should not get this stupid app like I wouldn’t be surprised if a baby makes this and the spelling like it doesn’t tell you how to do a question but mostly it is wrong my child got a question right and it said it’s wrong so don’t get this app and IXL better read his so they can fix this.

Don’t get it. I mean like I know it’s supposed to help and unfortunately it is, but IXL is really pushing it. Apparently it’s fun, but I’m sure you haven’t showed it to a kid who haven’t handed the tablet back crying, right?? Like seriously, it’s for mostly little kid who just want to finish the activity so they can play, so why make it torture upon torture when it already is? Needs improvement. Even though this is a OK app, I think it needs more improvement. Hi, I’m Linda. I’m doing yr5 IXL and in some of them, I put things like for English, I do The enormous new theme park and it goes NE NE!! It’s THE NEW ENORMOUS THEME PARK. SERIOUSLY, WHAT I DID WAS ALSO ALRIGHT. EVERYTHING DOESN’T ALWAYS HAVE TO BE SO ACCURATE!! For example you are up to 99 on a task. You get the last question wrong. BOOM! Down to 82! You SERIOUSLY NEED TO STOP!! I SPENT THREE HOURS, WORKING ON THE TASK, DOUBTING EVERY SINGLE ANSWER, AND YET YOU DO THIS TO ME?! After all of this I have just said, please I M P R OV E!! Otherwise, I will have to just quit my membership and complain to you EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Best spo. I had an amazing time learning new skills in math and English. Most students think that learning is no fun 🤣 buttt once you show your child this app it is amazing I tell you I wake up early in the morning just to do this app. Take it from an experienced person you would LOVE to do this app as well. Go on and try it.

Why must you do this to me…. O.K, but it could do better like having all of your questions have a submit button like Mathletics. I have had so many mistakes by it insta-submitting. And when I tried the article lessons, it just told me to use a PLUS SIGN 😡. And, maybe consider having a better rendering systems, because when I typed a zero in, it didn’t register. So I got it wrong. And, I typed in a zero and a nine and it said I was WRONG. In conclusion, IXL has a lot of improvements in need. Also please get smaller punishments, because like, I’m at the VERY END, and BOOM, one question wrong? BACK TO THE BEGINNING WITH YOU!!!!!!

Good but could use some work. I downloaded this in 2018 and it is really good but there is a problem. In level E I was doing an activity called Even or Odd: arithmetic rules. It got really tricky during the end and I how to go back at least 100 TIMES! In the end, the total question that I answered (correct and incorrect) was 64 questions! The total time I spent was 3 HOURSand 55 MINUTES! I actually cried of happiness when I finished. Instead of losing points and going back when you get a question wrong, maybe at the end you can answer that question at the end! Please IXL HQ, please make this happen!

It’s ok but needs some work. Ok so this app is really bad at the grammar, things so blame the app for my bad grammar. Also it’s realllly bad at spelling but I’m good at spelling so that’s fine. The is ok really, but many questions make no sense. So my Aunty is a teacher and she told me that if the questions are actually reasonable it makes it easier for kids to solve. I am only eleven. I am homeschooled which means I am normally ahead of school kids in work. But still this needs a lot of work. It should not be the first choice. But still it is a ok app so I’d say get if it helps. And overall it’s not very good at explaining like anything it takes me about half the time just to find out what I supposed to do! I am really annoyed at this app pls make it so when you get a question wrong there is a link to the website for that thing your doing. Fun seriously?. I got my kid this app cause I thought it would be a good way for him to revise over the holidays, 2 days after I got him this app he was on the floor crying after an hour of being on the same task and messing up on the last question, he told me that the app did not tell him what to do at all at the start of the task meaning he didn’t no what to do, this eventually made him break down in tears out of sheer frustration.

THE BEST. I love IXL! It helps me so much with my learning my mum found this so me and my siblings have had it for around 3 years and I am confidently preparing my self for highs school with this app. It extremely fun when u can get rewards and stuff and extremely education I spend around 2 hour a day in this all and my knowledge is getting better! :)) i recommend u get this for ur child like everyone says the best thing about education js that no one can take it away from you <3

This is the best!. Welp now, some people RAGE on this when we get to the last bit of every question. For example me, I always rage when I lose on the last few questions and I scream so loud and hit my iPad! But other than that, This is a really good app for learning and I reallly enjoy it! Test app, not for learning. So, I got IXL so I could learn division as well as all my friends and then it turns out when after the diagnostic you do a set, and it asks you questions, but DOES NOT TEACH YOU! I was hoping for * I exel* not *I cry on my bed* because the explanations when you get it wrong are SO VAGUE!!!! Oh, and when you get the question wrong your hard hour of work goes down the drain, because you earn 2POints! For each question *I mean two points???* and when you get it wrong you lose 10. What a shame! And, like sure each set is a TEST! And I’m frantically searching for a learning section, but *there isnt* oh not to mention it costs like 50 or so $ a month for a test program. My Progress.. The past few months IXL has been working perfectly but today something happened. I had just updated the app and I went on it to do some work. But all my progress on both English and Maths has been reset. I had a few things I was working on. But it has all be reset. I still have the prizes I had earned from English but all my progress is gone. It happens every time I go onto the app, if I start doing a lesson it all comes back. But it is very glitchy.

I like. So by reading other people’s comments I honestly think some people are over exaggerating. Also I have been using IXL for about 5 years now, I love IXL because it does give a nice learning experience for people that are using this app. But I will say a couple things if your child is young (I would say 6-10 in age) they will find this boring, bland and non engaging because this app is not very fun looking or colourful. Let’s be real younger kids just do the learning for the fun and the entertainment and not the learning, but if child is a little older I would say they care more about the learning and not the colours. Something I would say annoys me is that once your smart score gets higher you literally go up 1 point each question which is pretty frustrating and if you get a question wrong you loose like 4 points.

You have got to be kidding.. I used to use this app, and I decided I’d come and write a review, now that Im not screaming, crying, and yelling and hurting my mum because I had to use this app. This app makes the questions TO ADVANCED, AND NOT CLEAR!And I think they got this, because they tried to add a button which says “Not ready yet?” so I pressed on it, and it just gave me ANOTHER question?a harder one to 😂?I was undiagnosed for autism, and adhd when I was using this app. And can you imagine that?!I was literally using a pin on my leg and hitting my head from the RAGE I felt after getting 1 question wrong and going from 70, to 40. If you still consider getting this app for your kid, expect a sneaky, raging teenager, and a parent who will send you to a dirty nursing home, and won't let you come within 30 feet of your grandchildren.

Thank God it exists. I am really happy after downloading and using it for my Son. He is a visual learner. It is much more easier for him to understand with this app rahter than me explaining on piece of paper. Saving my energy for other things. And this app covers all varieties of questions that in curriculum. Plus you can go to easier or harder level as per your child’s progress 👍👍👍

Just some tips. Please tell me why I lose points for a question I get wrong. When I’m near the end I get an answer correct and get 2 points but then lose 10 points when I get the question wrong. I feel like banging my head against the wall every time I get an answer wrong at the end. Overall good app but just a few changes I think.

I swear to goodness. I know you just show all the positive comments first to promote this as software. I’m not writing this as someone who got dropped from 99 to 87 smart points. I’m writing this as some one who has done it SEVERAL TIMES. If your going to write down how to write the answer next to the answer box. My question was -7x = 14 which is negative two. But no. Apparently not. The box had said x= (Which should have been -x so I didn’t get confused) so I put in -2 thinking that it would work. I’m sorry, I gave this thing literally 3 chances. But that wasn’t enough apparently. Imma go ahead and delete this.

Mum’s point of view. In my opinion this is wonderful app that kids can use it without any adult supervision. It covers all of the content in Math and English. There is no possibility for cheating. Any wrong answer put them back so they will try to do their job carefully. The app’s explanation for wrong question is awesome. You just need to determine your kid’s work and after the allocated time, check that whether they have done their job or not?

Extremely Good Content.. While this may frustrate kids, the content in this app is unbelievably good. It encompasses selective school test content (I have taken the test so I know what questions there are), and a range of skills to boost children K-12 into being confident with their academia. I have personally used IXL to develop my reading comprehension, verbal reasoning (analogies and arguments), and spectrum of mathematical skills. Under every question you get wrong is an explanation for why you got it wrong. Whilst not thorough, as I’ll admit, it has a full on explanation on the means to get it write and the strategies. So whilst it doesn’t strongly tackle the questions YOU get wrong, it helps you get it with a passage to teach you how to. Kids may not get this but I think it’s decent…enough. I enjoy the diagnostics, which is essentially where they test your skills without being harsh and they help you broaden your horizons with things you can practice on (that you had no idea you were weak at). The range of texts in this app is also incredible, I must say, because they get passages from the olden days and you get to work with that too. I would pay for it. But it must have consistent use because it is expensive and their content would go to waste otherwise.

It’s okay.. Great concept. Issues: 1) Hard to keep my kids motivated because they’re math lovers and speed of progression is atrociously slow, certainly not as adaptive as advertised. By the time he’s answered the 10th question on a row that’s almost identical, my older son is dying of boredom and complaining. Frankly, I don’t blame him. This needs to be addressed if hoping to retain the math-keeners market. 2) Sometimes a little buggy recognizing a correct answer (flat out, as others have mentioned, saying “9” is the wrong answer... then saying 9 was the correct solution), and formatting stuff (eg spaces in equations). 3) Would be nice if I could see kids’ progress more easily from Parent account in the app.

VERY DISAPPOINTING. This app has caused multiple students from ages 10-14 to be stressed since they’re explanations of math is hard to understand. Even the videos they make to explain the math don’t even help since only certain skills have videos with explanations.

Deducts too many points. IXL provides many lessons in different subjects that can be useful for all ages. It is so good, that it is often used by teachers for homework or a class review. The only thing that ruins the entire experience is when you get one wrong and it takes you down 8-10 points. This would not be true at the beginning of a lesson where you get 10 points if you get it correct and lose one if you get it wrong but as you get farther in the lesson, it starts giving you less points and taking away more. An example of this is when I was at a Smart score of 92 and got two questions wrong. This led to my score to turn into 77 and each correct answer only earned one point. Another example of this is when my classmates and I were assigned an IXL lesson and some people worked on it for over 4 hours. This would be a good thing to consider but it is ok to continue using this scoring process. It’s still provides education for its users.

What the heck!. So, I was helping my little sister do the shape patterns. Circle circle triangle, circle circle triangle. The when she had to fill in the rest, she put circle circle triangle. It was WRONG?! WHAT? It was supposed to be Circle triangle circle?! How?! HOW! The next time, we had our mum check it. She said we were correct, and according to your messed up coding, us and our mum were incorrect!!! I was helping my sister another day, and she began excited, and ended in tears! She was doing well on a skill (forgot what it was) and got 1 wrong. She got pushed for 76 to 50. She was so upset and I was too. That’s just wrong! Don’t push the score back 20 freaking points! If you’re gonna do that, do 5! I saw a review that explained that it’s GOOD to push the score back. I 100% disagree! Read the explanation, but don’t make the kids frustrated and/or upset! Absolutely unacceptable. And to THINK that teachers and parents will have their kids go through this is nauseating to me. -Frustrated big sis

HORRIBLE.. I remember using this app back when I was in second grade, leading all the way up until I started 5th grade, when our school changed our learning curriculum (thank god for that). Anyway when I was doing IXL back in the olden days (because our school required us to do 2 lessons every day) I remember being so frustrated and angry at how the app was structured. Someone tell me how it’s fair that when I get a question right it only brings me up by like 2 or 3 but when I get ONE question wrong it brings me down by like 9 or 8. I cried so much over the stupid flipping questions because their explanations didn’t even help and I had to stay up late SEVERAL nights trying to finish it. It’s not a learning app, it’s a piece of garbage that causes low self esteem and other mental health issues. As a student that used to go through this horrible apps experience, I cannot say how much I thank my school for changing the learning app.

worst way to learn. At first glance, IXL seemed like a hood way to learn, but after a while of using it, I can tell you it is horrible. First of all, getting to 100% is way harder than it looks, especially when you get older, and if you get one question wrong on 99%, it sets you back to around 87%, which makes is super frustrating because you can only go up by 2% per question, which is super unfair. Also, IXL Diagnostics are the worst. It seems like a good thing, until I realized that it was so hard to increase your score, just like the normal IXL’s. If you don’t know a subject, your score will go down, but if you get it right, there is a small chance it will go up only by ten points. (keep in mind your score is in the hundreds, and can go higher than 1,000) Lastly, its not even good to learn on this. Instead of learning, you almost always end up getting mad at it, and it doesn't help when your teacher gives you them daily. Overall, IXL is a frustrating and lazy way to teach.

Worst educational tool in the world!. This is the worst educational tool in the world. It gets you some sort of satisfaction when you finish a skill, but it can literally take 30 minutes, to finish one simple, skill. To finish a skill you have to get to a 100 smart score. To get that, you have to correctly finish all the questions. But as a human, you might accidentally push a wrong button, and you are at the 99 smart score. It takes you back to like 86 smart score. And that just gets so frustrating, so yeah....AND ALSO! There was this question, and it was what is 0.1 multiplied by 0.1, I was like this is so easy, so I typed in .1, and I pressed enter. IT LITERALLY TOLD ME, ohhh, your answer is WRONG! I WAS LIKE OMG! I calmed down after a few 100 hours... and I went on google, because duh! And searched is 0.1, the same as .1! And it was like YESSSSSSSSSSSSS! Long story short, I threw the laptop out the window, sooooooooooo, moral of the story.....DON’T YOU EVEN TRY PRESSING THE INSTALL BUTTON, BECAUSE YOU WILL IMMEDIATELY REGRET THAT, AND “IXL” WILL TAKE UP YOUR STORAGE THAT IS LEFT AFTER TAKING 1,000 PICTURES ON YOUR PHONE!

Stupid app used to torture kids. I have to use this app in school. I have to do 27 ixl’s before I enter 7th grade. The reason I dislike this so much is that once you learn a lesson, you get an ixl with that lesson. But once you get past the 70s, the questions become progressively harder. The lesson actually CHANGES. Aren’t you supposed to teach your kids that it is OKAY to make mistakes? Ixl does not believe in that. It docks of A LOT of points for making one small mistake. You can accidentally type 1,496 as your answer instead of 1,497 and get 15 points DOCKED OFF. Ixl is also inaccurate sometimes. Sometimes they change the actual formula of how to solve a problem then what you learned in class. Another thing is that say there is a problem and the answer is 75 mi/miles. You put 75 miles. That would be wrong. So parents, I URGE YOU, please don’t use this app for your kids if you don’t have to. At one point I was a D average in math because of ixl. I almost threw the SCHOOL’S CHROMEBOOK OUT THE WINDOW because I was so aggravated. DO NOT INSTALL UNLESS FOR A GRADE!

Worst app ever!!!. If I could give it a zero, by all means I would! Horrible app. Worst app ever designed. If you ever want to feel validated about something as a student, read the bad ixl reviews. If my teacher assigns me ixl, i op for a failing grade instead of the misery of using this app. The only thing I can think of in creating this app is torture. All teachers and parents who use this app, use khan academy. Ixl is the main cause of anger issues, depression, satan, and of course all broken devices. When your 98 goes down to a 36 when you get one question wrong, what’s your first reaction? Punch your device (or whatever’s nearest). One simple answer to solve all of these problems is to outlaw ixl. In 6 grade, my class devised a plan to skin Paul mishkin and dump him in a vat of acid. Not my idea but hey... Paul mishkin created ixl for those of you that didn’t know. This is the most I’ve written by choice in a while. I would rather write an entire essay then do one ixl. To sum it all up, ixl is the torture straight from the devil.

Its ok I guess. So, I’ve been using this for 4years now (kinda forced to do so). At first I was like ok, whatever. It’s for school right? Up till last year (6th) it was fine. This year however, nothing has been saving and my grades have been dropping dramatically. I have not been able to show any work nor hand it in. I’ve told my teacher who handles this program for my school and said that she couldn’t really do anything about it. I asked my friends about it as well and they have been through it as well. I asked them how they went around them and they just said that their teachers never really used it anyway and they didn’t have any problems. For now, I have had to use my teacher’s account to do my work during class and try to bump up my grades. I don’t fully suggest this as the best choose but if you’re too lazy to browse for educational websites, I think that it’s ok to use for beginners

I wish I could give zero stars but I can’t also (The IXL company best read this ). Long story short: This app is dumb don’t waste your life on it This app is the dumbest thing ever it doesn’t give very helpful examples when you get something wrong and it’s especially frustrating when you accidentally hit submit instead of 9 and then it takes you back 40 points and you have to answer at least 10 questions (and get them all right) to get back to where you were. I think they should have a double check where if you get a question wrong it should pop up and say ‘double check’ or ‘something’s not quite right’ then you can check over it and if you accidentally click the wrong number you can save your skin. THEN if it’s still wrong it should take you back BUT only the same amount as it will move you up. Please take this into consideration and actually do it This app, as it is now, causes a lot of anxiety so if you have it and your school doesn’t already require you to use it DO NOT USE IT it may break you Also I’m very resilient so I will find a way to write this same review as many days as I can until this changes So change it Thanks Edit..... Writing from experience.. I am a student. I first used this in elementary school and hated it, I used it in late middle school and hated it then as well. There are two main ways it grades you. You might have to get a certain number correct in a row which means if you get 3 right but if the fourth one is wrong you have to start over. The second way you are graded: you must get 100 points in order to complete the lesson. The first questions are worth more, ex: 10 points. Every time you answer a question the value becomes less, ex: 8. If you answer incorrectly it gets rid of many more points than you earn ex: you have 90 points, get a question wrong, now there are 80. That means you end up having to answer way too many. I do not like this system because it teaches kids that being perfect is the only option. It can get extremely frustrating, especially during math because it is so easy to make a calculation error or type a number wrong, or in the wrong form.

Simply horrible. This app is TERRIBLE. 1. It is unfair- when you get a question right it only ups you by 1-5 points, but when you get it wrong it pushes you down to 10-20 points. It is frustrating and unfair especially when you don’t understand the concept. 2. You have to learn on your own and get a question purposely wrong to read how to do it. Even then it’s worded confusingly and I’ve learned more on google than on the app itself. Not only that but it expects you to know the topic already, giving you questions that don’t even make sense. 3. It is super glitchy and multiple times I’ve gotten my scored kicked down even when I’ve had the right answer. 4. I haven’t even learned anything from this app, I’d rather have someone explain it to me than this. All it has done was add stress and hatred towards math. This app truly makes me want to hate school and work overall. It might seem like a smart concept to have an unfair point system so the kid does more work, but truly it just makes me want to throw the laptop to the floor. I’ve even cried out of frustration because the app wasn’t able to explain to me what was wrong in a way I could understand it. It’s horrible- both in a learning view and in a design view. I would never wish this upon the people I hate most. If you want your child/students to murder you in your sleep or say your name in their tapes then by all means get it. This just————makes my blood boil.

Dreadful and Tedious. Middle school student’s perspective here. This is the worst educational app I’ve ever had to use. The point system is awful. For example, I was at 99 points. I mis-clicked. It took me down to a 92. I got the following question wrong. It took me to an 85. At this point, I’ve answered 134 questions. Yes, 134. Getting two questions incorrect, should not take you down that many points. Especially having already answered 134 questions. This is not the only time this has happened. I am forced to use IXL for almost all my classes. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve dug my fingernails into my flesh out of anger. I’m not crying during the lesson, but tears of joy after I complete it. It would also be nice if we could have a little something to read before the lesson. In order for it to explain how to do the assignment, you have to answer a question incorrectly. My thoughts are, why should I have to answer incorrectly to learn how to do the lesson? It makes zero sense. Please, DO NOT EVER USE THIS APP!!!!!!

MARKS CORRECT ANSWERS AS INCORRECT. My child Is in 2nd grade an is practicing days of the week. I am with her as she does it in case she needs assistance or explaining. On a few of the questions, such as “ Which day comes after Thursday” My daughter answered Friday, and it marked her as incorrect and said the answer was Saturday. It mark her answers wrong continually, several times in a row, even though she was without a doubt correct. We did a few more other lessons and there were several times where it marked her as incorrect. I have screenshots as proof. This was very ridiculous and stressful for both of as as, the smart score drops drastically everytime, a problem is incorrect. Again, I have screenshots, please fix this bug, I can’t image that there are several other practice modules in different grades that mark students incorrect when they are in fact right. Please fix this.

Annoying!!!. I wanted to use this app to help me with my geometry but gave up after trying to do one skill because every time I got one wrong the system set me back soo many points!!! I wanted to give it the Benefit of the doubt because of my memories of using it in 1st grade but I spent freaking 25 minutes trying to get past the problem!!! The app also kept giving the same type of problem and kept taking away more and more. Such as I was on problem 85 and it moved me back to 75!! Adding to that, it only gave me like 2-3 points per problem which is just ridiculous !!!!! I have never written a review but this is just soooo annoying!!!! (not) Sorry but I hope this app dies

TORTURE. This is like my third review and honestly, it’s just amazing! It treats me wOnDeRfUlLy.... haha nope this is not a Karen speaking so u don’t have to see those reviews saying that it’s good and all because it’s not. Like the title of this review, it is TERRIBLE, while I do see what they were going for here I would be better of not using it. It’s stress the LIFE out of me!! Huh sorry about that just had to express the great impact it’s had on my life........ Anyways the answer to why this app is terrible, is because it takes away so many points just because u got one simple answer wrong. And if you get it right it gives u less points than it took away. It acts as if u hurt it’s feelings and now u have to say sorry. And also sometimes it even marks the right answer wrong even if it does seem right. It even gives u some cute little paragraphs to read as if it trying to educate u to get it right next time. Overall it’s just to stressful ok? So make your choice! Do u want to use an app that I’ve heard actually causes some ppl like me to cry? Or do u just want to learn normal school? Your choice!

Bad. Being new to learning a new subject or a type of thing you can’t just push them to just go to IXL. If they mess up you can’t just punish them and let them do it again and again. You mess it is okay you are new to this. No one can’t just say you should now this already. This is a wrong way to teach a kid. This is easy To some and not to others. I want IXL to improve on not just being harsh on kids that learning something to be hard you can’t that harshness to a kid they can improve over time. You can’t just say you should now this already. If they have never learned this before that means they have never learned this before not they know what’s all the things they know just a kid. We all know Albert Einstein he took years to be the smartest not in one day not in one year but in 20 years of studying and learning so you should look up at Einstein he did not lean every thing in one year but 20 years. So don’t be harsh on kids when they are little they learn over time.

Confused 😉🤪😹😹🦶🥸😻. Girl, I do not have the idea of who would think to make this an app because as a student, this app is freaking trash. Literally, nobody likes it and makes no sense. What is the reason of literally if you get an answer wrong and bumped down your score like what is the reason you guys think you’re so cool doing that nobody likes you if I could and I had the privilege as a student I would sue you and literally just make your apps disappear because I don’t know what’s the point of this app it’s literally so dumb. Thank you as a matter of fact, in eighth grade we are learning something about addition, subtraction, multiplication, and somehow we can’t even do that because your ad doesn’t explain what if we have to use addition, subtraction or multiplication, so it just makes it what makes us look stupid and that’s stupid. Literally freaking idiots. Making us seem like we have no common sense in eighth grade. Which we kinda do not really what we do.

Smh. If i could give this app a lower review, I would. I’ve been using IXL for maybe 6 or 7 years now. I’ve never really had a problem with it because I was younger, kinda didn’t think about things much, but now, being in the tenth grade, I can see how unfair this app is. It doesn’t teach you anything except how to be afraid of getting the answer wrong. If you get simply one answer wrong, it brings you down 6-10 points, but if you get one right, 3 points at the most. It’s a waste of time and brings the users nothing but stress. I’ve once tried doing a lesson and answered over 100 questions because i’d get one answer wrong and it’d bring down my score by a LARGE amount of points. It lowers the users self esteem, making them feel insecure and stupid, doubting their own intelligence. I’ve spoken to a lot of my friends about it and they all agree with me about this. Demoralizing for learners, students hate it. This was a great idea in the beginning, for a student I work with. I subscribed because IxL has a paywall after very few practice problems. It is not useful at all when they are demoralized and think they’re worse at math than before we used IxL. It’s infuriating to have the score go from 99 to 87 on practice quizzes. Then, it will give 1 point when you get something correct, then subtract 7 points at least when you get it wrong. The sound cue is also very anxiety inducing, especially combined with the score’s visual cue. I wish I didn’t subscribe. The other reviews seem to be low as well. It will keep your child busy for a while, but it is not a very fun way to learn. I tried some questions myself, and it was easy only because I’m an adult. I made mistakes and noticed how it gave feedback and how it wouldn’t stop asking questions after a certain time or certain number of questions. The app will keep going until it thinks you’re done.

Ok. So this thing is awesome I don’t get with the bad scores are about it’s really awesome. It’s super frustrating when you click on the wrong button and then press submit, but it’s OK. I love it it’s my school uses it like everybody my school uses it of course a lot people don’t like it, but I think it’s a good educational thing and I am in fifth grade so when you read it you probably I’m not gonna be in fifth grade but it’s gonna be the it’s gonna be awesome. If you do it, please hit that button and you will not regret it but that and it has like every grade in it so it’s perfect and there’s even if you’re not ready there’s a little button in the corner that says not ready yet so you can practice on something else so that’s super Duper awesome do it read it do it everything yeah

IXL is good for learning but here are some things to make it better. IXL is very good when helping people from grades from k-8. IXL has helped me pass many tests and quizzes and it is the #1 app I go to when I need to study. I do enjoy using IXL but I have recommendations. First, when I get a question write I like the process of the amount of points you earn but I firmly dislike the amount of points you loose for every question you get wrong. I did not understand a lesson and I went to IXL and I found the lesson. I started and I got a little bit better at it but it took me over an hour to complete because every question I got wrong it would go down ALOT. It should be every question you get wrong is the same amount of point reduced as many points you earn for the question you get right. But overall IXL is a very good app I enjoy using when I need help with math

I don’t recommend this app to people who get stressed very easily.. I personally get stressed very easily, my mom told me to start doing this because I do it in school. At school when I do it it feels Impossible to get to the next stage in science! It resets all your answers even if you misclick. I personally think that there should be a button that says are you sure you want to submit this answer, just in case. It’s also very boring. There’s nothing very exciting about it! It doesn’t really explain what the question means so I’m just sitting there half the time thinking about what it means. Maybe there could be a dictionary tool for difficult words because in school we don’t have access to dictionaries and most of my friends won’t know what it means either. I hope a developer reads this and uses my recommendations. I hope you take this in mind before downloading the app.

Horrible, horrible app. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP. This app is an absolute waste of time and space, I do not recommend. The problems are inadequate and hard. When you get the answer wrong it plays this discouraging sound that makes you never want to hear it ever again, and it deducts HIGH amounts of points, making you go from 82 to 3 in seconds. The explanations are even worse! They don’t provide ANY help and the “Rule”s and “Learn”s are not helpful in any way, it just confuses the student EVEN MORE. Not only that but it makes everything feel like a competition, causing the students to go crazy and type random things. I especially HATE the math section, which is the main cause for me writing this. Along with this, the app just WANTS you to fail. When you get a question wrong, -40, when you get a question right, +2. It’s simply too hard and just sloppy and tired. The developers put ABSOLUTELY NO WORK INTO THE EXPLANATIONS. LITERALLY NONE!!! So, don’t make the mistake AND DON’T DOWNLOAD THIS APP.

Annoying. I am a student who uses IXL for school, I now get the point but it’s still horrible. This app was designed so that you’d get it in your brain by repeating the questions. One thing that’s really bad is that it deducts when you get something wrong more than it adds when right. It’s seriously annoying. I’d prefer a more wide range of questions in a skill. I’d also like IXL to be more engaging, since it’s really hard to engage in the learning. It would help to make this more engaging and less like: “More of this torture? Seriousllllllyyyyyyy!”, I hope you get what I mean there. This app needs a lot of improvement and should not be used by school systems. I don’t think the creators put the child’s perspective on this when making it, I know learning wasn’t made to be fun but it still needs to engage you somehow, this app even has pre-k to 3rd grade, which are pretty low grades. As a student, I know my opinion matters less but still, put this in mind, whoever is reading this. (Why are you anyways???)

I hate it. To be honest, if I could rate this 0 stars I would, but I can’t so one star will have to work. IXL is the reason I hate studying, it’s a app that simply tortures kids into doing things for hours plus many of its lessons aren’t even helpful. I don’t understand anyone who would rate this app 5 stars. Honestly this app deserves to burn at the bottom of the Earth along with the maniacs who believe this app will actually help their children. Think about the poor children who have to use this cursed app for hours just to complete a irrelevant lesson. You won’t believe how many times I’ve heard the people in my class complain about this app. I hope that one day the teachers will realize that this app is absolute trash. People say that kids learn violence from video games but I think they learn violence from the anger issues they get from hours of IXL. After all I wouldn’t blame them. Don’t get this app if you appreciate the sanity of your children and with them not to suffer like I did.

Do NOT RECOMMEND. I have been using IXL for a couple of years now and I can tell you it is really horribly made and annoying because the amount of effort it takes to do 4 questions and gain 12 points to losing 10 from 1 is not really fair. In addition there is this stupid “Challenge Zone” when you reach 90 where whenever you do a question correctly it will give you about 2-3 points. However if you were to get one wrong. You would automatically drop from a 98 to an 89. And I get that you want to make it fun for students with the badges and challenge zone. But it really isn’t. When you compare the “fun” in IXL to the way you get punished for one single question is just absurd. The system is basically just telling you that you are stupid and incorrect. And I WISH IXL could take these bad reviews to heart and seriously change it up. But nope still after 7 years. IXL has been still the same old educational app that no one in this world looks up to when they get assigned.

Attention teachers and students please read. This app has many horrible reviews. Here’s why: it causes stress and anxiety and can cause bad behavior in most all students. It even caused some students purposely breaking their laptops doing IXL. Most students even transferred schools because of it. You have many poor reviews, and i can tell your trying to fix it. I’d rather die that do another IXL problem. Even if someone were to stab me 87 times, I would not even consider giving them the torcher of this horrible, horrible app. Because we do not have plagues or medieval torcher anymore, Satan himself created this app to make students’ lives miserable. It does not teach skills, you’d have to know everything about your skill before completing this ixl, which kind of defeats the purpose of the app. It does explain what to do, but it’s very confusing and did not help, so you’d have to have a teacher on hand to tell you what to do, again defeating the purpose of the app. If you spell one thing wrong, or type a period instead of a comma, instead of not gaining points, like a test or homework or any other type of school work, you lose points! Once you get near the end you only gain 1 point and lose about 8 points! It’s extensive torcher and in summary I’d like to delete it from the earth and exterminate all people that have created the app.

Does IXL NEED to be a app?. Hey, I’m not a real big fan of IXL. In fact, it’s so horrible, I would give it negative 5 stars if I could. Every time I try a level, I end up getting like, “yay! I am at 99 points and the total is 100!” But then you get the last question wrong so I’m back at 81 points! The hate it when that happens. Plus, if people hate it so much, then would you be playing when your at calculus? Because there is a ENTIRE column for that stupid thing! And in one column there are about a million levels. Plus, you know how in the 3rd grade levels the limit is 31 questions? And if a question is wrong it COUNTS as a question? Well, I learned it the hard way because once I had so many questions wrong, that I had 69 questions before. And please, just please with raspberry on top, FIX IXL!!! Please take this down.. IXL = getting over it. Many kids have raged over it. Many kids have destroyed thier devices over this, just like getting over it. I wonder if whoever made this as the same purpose as getting over it, or worse. That was my review about how long ago, and I still rage at it, and they still don’t listen. As a matter of fact, pretty much all kids rage at it. I only rated it 5 stars because I want other ppl to see what anger it could bring, and their children won’t be victims of IXL. Oh, btw, try following prodigy’s example. Now that’s actually a game kids can learn from. It is currently 11:45 P.M.when I,m typing this, and I only have one thing to say. LOWER THE DARN PUNISHMENT. I am in tears in this one ixl mainly because of little mistakes. If you don’t lower the punishment thing down AT LEAST GIVE ANOTHER CHANCE LIKE PRODIGY. (Edited again) I changed it to 1 star. Awful system. Ok so anybody who loves IXL for some reason you probably don’t want to read this. Who in their right mind created the point system. Ok I’m sorry to start that way, if you are new to ixl let me give you a sample question. Also keep in mind this is my experience with the so call challenge zone. Prolly has 1/2 of an apple and her sister milky has 1/4 of an apple. How many apples do they have together. Oh um I’m at 94 so I’m so close. Mabey say you said they have 2/6 together. Point score 94———————84. Oh let me just see how to do it then. Their explanation : so first add the denominator but they have to be the same number but the numerators don’t. So you have to try again a new question 1/6+2/6=3/6, oh yeah you got it correct but your points 84–85. So yeah also the app is fine but the problems just confuse me. Oh not to mention how much stress it puts. And also how self conscious someone can be. Their stupid smart score literally is saying oh you got a question wrong so your 10% less smart as you where before

I hate this. It always takes me back 10-20 points when I get something wrong. Most of the time it’s just a typo or accidentally hitting enter before typing the whole answer in. My teachers use this as homework, and he always assigns 2-4 lessons a day for homework which normally takes me 1-3 1/2 hours to complete depending on the lesson. This is honestly so frustrating. I know all the answers but the anxiety it gives me is too much. This is rly hard on kids and I go into mental breakdowns trying to finish all of it. I still have the work of other subjects but I’m spending all my time trying to finish math. Now I almost never get any free time or sleep because of how long this takes, my other teaches assign a lot of homework too but I instead of finishing everything and having free time later on I’m crying trying to figure out how to end up finishing all my work. I don’t work very fast so it always takes me a bit longer to finish things but I think 3 1/2 hours is just too long for one subject.

Why IXL needs to be fixed. So I have to do IXL that adds up to 6 hours so I was doing it and it said I got a question wrong but I put the right stuff and IXL said what I put in vs. what I needed to put in and it was the exact same I have screenshots of a bunch times IXL has had so many error (I am a student) and it is so confusing and stressful it should be a bit easier and I hate how IXL subtracts like 11 points if you get 1 question wrong so I personally think you guys NEED to update all the errors and make it so the bar that say if you got it right or wrong shows up quicker because it always takes a while to pop up if I got it right or wrong so those are the stuff I really want to be done and working so I also wanted to say Can you guys perhaps add a little hint bar like below the stuff to draw with because I think it would help a lot with people who forget what are the steps so that’s all I needed to say and thanks if you guys fix it!

Amazing app with some flaws.. IXL is amazing, no doubt about it, and this app is no different, though i want to point out some flaws with the app and overall ixl itself. Mainly with the points, as people have described, it goes up quickly at first, then at smaller values near the end. Its really frustrating when your at 99 and out of nowhere “wrong answer -9” and it gets really annoying. I do like though how there are suggestions that help you with getting a new lesson when you don't know what you should do next, so good job on that :P. Only suggestion along with fixing the points system, add a way for when people get a question wrong repeatedly, they get a pop-up or something to instruct them how to do it. But, besides for that amazing app would definitely reccomend!

To hard/easy. I had ixl for about 3 years. When I first had too do it, I didn’t notice how much the points would come and go. But as I used it more, it started to notice a lot. When you start a skill, each time you get a question correct you get about 20 points, but it’s when it has easier questions, then by the time you get to 70% it barely gives you points, to much harder questions. There is a lot of skills, but half of the skills are super easy! My class gets really angry when the get one tiny thing wrong, and it takes away half the points they worked hard for! And when your at 90%-99% and you get a question wrong, it brings you to like 87% or 78% and its really annoying. I have seen some of my friends cry over this because, they had done so much to get at a high score, but then they do something wrong, and all their work has gone to waste. Plus ixl is no fun! Their is many other apps that teach a lot, and are way better! If you want a good app for education, then you should look at Reflex.

Love it. Hi I’m A 4th Grader and I think IXL is Awsome Not Only the New Details are very nice this is a great learning app and also to the other people who think is boring, learning isn’t always supposed to be fun and I know the point system is annoying but its like getting something wrong on a quiz the teacher isn’t going to mark it right I know it sends you back a lot but if you are struggling just ask your teacher or parent for something easier don’t just sit there and do nothing about it do you want to be set back more points? Ixl is very very evil. It doesn’t teach anything kids just look up the answers. It should die like my phone did. It should burn in H E double hockey sticks. Great idea...Bad execution. The app itself is actually pretty good, it's well set up, easy to use, and it has some really impressive and unique features like being able to physically write the answer. HOWEVER!!! I can not get over the fact that every time I use it I get insanely frustrated and usually end up uninstalling it. For one, it's just not very fun, sure there are some fun pictures at the end when you complete a skill, but there isn't really anything that's fun, or intriguing, or actually makes you want to use the app at all, learning should be fun and this most definitely isn't. I also hate the fact that it sends you back when you get something wrong, and that's not a big deal, but at no point should it send you back father the amount of points you get for getting it right. That's all I have to say, other than that great app and really helpful.

HORRIBLE TERRIBLE GAME. I am a student in 5th grade and this game is not encouraging or fun in anyway. When you get a question wrong and you are already so far on your score it brings you down so much and it gets me really mad! This game is not fun in anyway but all my teachers have it and tell us to do it luckily they tell us that we can get to only 85% but it is not fun and in no way enjoyable or encouraging. But the only reason I even give it a star is because it is a way to learn without your teachers teaching you and I guess it is a way they can get a break but it is to hard on us and it makes me rage a lot and it is so annoying. Their is also so many things on their to do and teachers just keep on assigning them. I have been doing IXL since 2nd grade and ever since then I have hated it. I do not recommend this game to any teacher or student, teachers this makes your students annoyed and frustrated so do not have your students do this. Oof. Alright, so let me tell you a story, you come in from recess, so excited for math, right? No. Instead you get to do this demon spawn called IXL. It will stress you out, frustrate you, I’ve seen some kids scream at the top of their lungs at the screen. The teacher of course, thinks it is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but there’s one more problem. The BIGGEST problem. Points. Want 10 points? Sure! Do that a few times, and you have 50 points! But no, your finger slips and you press the wrong answer. And you know what? You’re now at 23 points. Another problem is the “Challenge Zone”. You’ll get 1 point per correct answer. Pretty fair, seeing as you only need ten. I would laugh in your face but this is a review. You’re at 99 points and you get one wrong. You’ll go down 2 points, right? That’s fair? But you forgot, IXL was made by some mentally deranged idiots, you’ll still go down 20 or more. Sincerely, A 7th grader with PTSD

Don’t rely on this.. I used IXL since 1st grade. Now, I am in middle school. Firstly, I can confirm that IXL is very pressuring on children and teens such as me. Comparing it to other educational programs and applications, IXL is definitely more stressful in terms of courses. For example, your score may go up by 3–but it’ll go down by 7 if you get one question wrong. After talking to my classmates when they recently finished one IXL course, they said they had to search up the answers rather than trying. The compliments “Neat!” Or “Correct!” On IXL doesn’t do anything, nor the prizes. I still don’t understand why school districts recommend such websites like IXL. Honestly, you don’t learn anything from using this, and you have to rely on the videos and what your teachers taught you in class. About the videos..they don’t help at all. The questions and the video questions are similar, but comparing it to the rest of the questions on the IXL course, you can see a big difference. Let’s take a decimal one for example. The video teaches you how to multiply decimals basically, but the course is much, much, much harder. To be frank, the video is just “in a nutshell.” To conclude this, don’t use or suggest IXL for your children. The more the child uses it, they’ll get more worked up or stressed.

IF U WANT TO USE IXL READ THIS IT WILL HELP YOU WITH YOUR DECISION. This Application is horrific and my teacher has been assigning IXL’s and the smallest thing like not adding parentheses on something that doesn’t ask for it will be wrong and let’s say your at 80% and you get it wrong you’ll go down to 70% maybe lower. This is a very annoying app and I hate it. IXL makes me want to rip my hair out. This app is horrible and teacher should not use it because it gives kids anger, stress, and will make them suffer. Some IXL’s may (I mean may like slightly very slightly) help you. One IXL once took me a total of 23 hours and I probably did around 300 question and it was NEVER ending. One of the worst thing is that the IXL didn’t have an example of help me at all. It made me so stressed (mind you in pretty good at math like 80 and above and I I don’t really get stressed I am pretty calm) and this made me INFURIATED, THIS OH MY THIS MADE FIRIUS AT MYSELF MOSTLY AND I JUST WANTED TO PUNCH EVERYTHING AROUND ME. 🙂 SO, if YOU want a VERY good way to TORCHER someone then use IXL.

Muscle Memory Maker. As a student, none of my peers nor myself like this program. . . It is very monotonous but I won’t pretend it doesn’t help drastically with our muscle memory. This program doesn’t teacher you but does strengthen your muscle memory. But Teacher, before you decided to give your students IXL work please consider an alternate way to complete the work. For example, to complete a lesson you have to have an 100 smart score to complete which can take anywhere from 20 mins to an hour and 20 mins to get a complete smart score. The reason it can take so long is because if you are at 90 smart score you start getting 1 point because it’s called challenge mode. I have been at 99 smart score got one wrong and been taken back to 86 which I can’t even describe how annoying this can be! So teachers my advice would be to go to at most a 90 smart score or 70 smart score for graphing lessons.

It’s a tricky subject. Ixl a very strange game to speak about some people absolutely love it while others hate it I went through reviews and seen one star then five star over and over some people argue that it is a simple and working game while other think it is a increative waste off time I don’t believe either of those statements it’s not award winning but it’s not absolutely trash it has a few redeeming qualities but also things that hold it back from becoming a better game on the good side setting children back can help them try harder but also can make them feel like they will never get it done the levels are uncreative and monountous they can also refrain from distractions but this keeps kids uninterested o could have math mini games mixed in toast least keep kids entertained. The style of the game is cute but boring it’s simple but too simple not in the cute way with more effort this gam could be great it just needs a push in the right direction

Two stars is lucky.. Okay, hear me out, this app is actually decent, but they need to have an option where they explain some questions to you. They give you completely different questions sometimes, and I have no idea what to do. They need to make a ‘Help Me’ button so it explains. I like the diagnostics, but I’m not a big fan of the layout. It’s confusing, whereas the questions aren’t actually. AND DON’T GET ME STARTED ON SCIENCE. The science is VERY hard. If I get an answer wrong in science, I look at the explanation, and it’s complete BOGUS. Like, seriously! They also change the answers. By that I mean, if the answer was a secondary consumer, next question they’ll change the animal to a tertiary consumer. I had a mental breakdown trying to finish these lessons. Please fix this. The only reasoning give this two stars if for English, which I actually enjoy, because there is no challenging questions that don’t match the lesson. And the other star for The rewards section and the diagnostic. These questions that don’t match the Lessons are TORTURE please learn to coordinate your questions with the lesson. It’s like they use this app to get criminals to talk in questioning, military soldiers trying to get hostages to talk. ITS TORTURE. Please. Fix this app. Sincerely, Angry IXL user. <3

Wow just wow. The fact that I have been using this app for less than a day and I’m already giving it a one star is just sad I’ve done one lesson and am sure I’m deleting this app. The fact that it takes 7-12 points from you for accidentally pressing a wrong button is just pitiful the concept isn’t bad but the fact that I loose 12 points on a type-o is just ridiculous! I already knew what I was doing too I haven’t been learning anything new so I’m glad I’m quitting now to any parents I would not recommend but don’t take my word for it but literally everyone’s word I promise you there will be yelling from you kids about how dumb it is I haven’t even mentioned is grading system, so say I’m on the last few questions and I make a mistake you would think I would loose like 3 maybe 4 points but oh no you get but down to a 70 percent and you can’t finish a lesson until you get a one hundred. And they have the audacity to make me pay a subscription for this junk?!

Needs to Stop 🛑. Ixl isn't the best app. I feel as a student, that when they tell you you got a answer incorrect then explain it to you, it makes the pupil(s) frustrated. You don't understand the concept so your getting farther back then before. I will say, I am always try to reach for the prizes. Its though extremely hard to get when your getting put back. It makes the kid doubt that they’ll get past it and bores them. I suggest if they get the question wrong, you ask them it again after explaining how to solve it. It should be like this other app we have. When you get the question wrong, it says Nice TRY! and moves on and after you get the following 1-10 questions your educator has assigned it goes back to the questions you got wrong and keeps asking until you get it right. I really hope you take advice from a pupils side of video.

TERRIBLE. I am a student myself and am assigned IXL all the time but it’s TERRIBLE! The bugs are worst than bad, And if you get ONE JUST ONE WRONG you will lose 20 points making it take longer but if you get it RIGHT YOU HET TWO JUST TWO POINTS and the writing it SUPER laggy and won’t work and it is super annoying, especially for math. I have cried about how it took me 1 hour and 30 minutes or more to complete a subject, NOT TO MENTION ITS SUPER EXPENSIVE and if you DONT have an account it will say “time limit reached on IXL please sign in to continue” or something like that and you need to pay 20 dollars for language arts and math but no Spanish ,science, and social studies you need to pay for the subjects separately and you need to pay for Spanish in ONE for 20 dollars or something like that. I HIGHLY DONT RECOMMEND THIS APP! Maybe your child can try Lexia which is also a great app or Prodigy for maths. Lexia is for reading and comprehension and Prodigy is , like I said for math so have you child sign up for free.

Awful. Everyone knows the point system is utter trash. I do not need to help beat up a horse that’s already dead, and I don’t want to. Instead, how about we talk about the subjects. They’re either overwhelmingly easy(Science and Social Studies), or a bottle of the tears of frustrated children (ELA). The Science and Social Studies lessons practically spell out the answers for you. A five year old could beat them one handed. But for the ELA, oh BOY do I have some NASTY words for it. the reasonings for getting the questions wrong are confusing and flat out wrong. I could get the wrong answer and when I read the explanation, I come out more confused. They don’t even explain anything! They just tell you the answer, and if you’re doing one of the suggest edits lessons they’ll just tell you random words that somewhat tie in with the words they’re replacing. Instead of, you know, ACTUALLY EXPLAINING WHY THE ANSWER IS THE ANSWER FOR THE QUESTION. But I’ll give you two stars, because the Math lessons are actually decent.

doesn’t actually help you learn. I have used ixl in school for quite some time. My math teacher now assigns ixl assignments everyday. Have I learned anything? no. To finish the lesson we have to get a smart score of 80. Which seems reachable. Except for when you’re at a smart score of 50 and get one wrong and drop down to 40 or lower. Basically, if you get one wrong you go down 8-12 points. But if you get one right you go up 2-6 points. It’s unreasonable and as a student I think ixl should add more teaching features that actually help you learn and they should make it easier to move up. Maybe go down 5 if you get one wrong and up 10 if you get one right. Anyways, overall ixl has not helped me become a better student but instead it has stressed me out. Do you wanna know how often I cry over ixl?? At least once a week. That’s it, I give this app a 1 star rating for its unhelpful “teaching” ways and unreasonable point scores.
