Panera Bread Comments & Reviews 2026

It's okay, but two weird things in it. The app has improved since I first started using it. But I've encountered two weird things, one of which is rather annoying. The first is that when I arrive to pick up my order, which is usually curbside pickup, after I hit the "I'm Here" button, I see something that asks me to rate "the app." It's where I used to be asked to rate the order/ordering experience and I don't know if I'm still submitting feedback to the store I order from, or if this is actually submitting feedback about the app to the developers. The other thing, and this is the really annoying one, is that after I place an order it keeps asking me if I want text message updates. If I don't make a choice, it appears that it doesn't place my order. It looks like it only places the order once I tell it whether or not I want to be texted about the order. It just seems weird because I've already gone through Apple Pay to pay for the order, so I would think it would place the order as soon as I confirm payment.

The Rocklin Store. We go to this store at least once a week. We always order the Fuji Apple salad. The last 2 months the new people making the salads have consistently skimped on the apples. It is our favorite part of the salad so we notice. Once I asked for more (since I only saw one apple chip on my salad) and she gave me dressing. I explained I needed more apples, not more dressing and she sighed and asked another EE to retrieve some from the back. Apparently she ran out and instead of getting some, she just shorted us. If it were an isolated event, I wouldn’t be spending all this time typing. This has happened several times in the past 8 weeks or so. If it isn’t the apple chips, it is the wrong size bowl of soup, no bread or a grilled cheese sandwich that wasn’t grilled. Please get it together Rocklin Panera-we don’t want to change stores.

Problem with ordering ahead on app. This review is solely based on the app, with ordering ahead, and the problem I have with it. It has occurred a couple times where I want to order something for pickup hours later in the day, but the app will send the order immediately to the store. For instance, I ordered dinner for my husband to pickup at 4pm on 2/2, and placed the order around 1pm so I wouldn’t forget. I received an email- which I didn’t see until later- at 1:26pm informing me the order was ready for pick up. To the developers: if you are providing an option to order ahead by hours or days, the bugs need to be worked out. It is unfair to the staff prepping food, the store this monetarily impacts, and the customer who would appreciate a fresh meal. Please do better this. This issue wastes other peoples time, and money.

App leaves a LOT to be desired.... Easy to navigate but the features seem to stop there. While numerous other other restaurants that offer curbside pickup have found a way to make their app communicate across devices (i.e., place the order on one device such as an iPad and drive to the restaurant and click I’m Here on an iPhone), this app doesn’t appear to have that capability. One can certainly open the app on the iPhone but when I do the app doesn’t realize that I have an order to pick up and gives me the option to start a new order. Not what I want; I’d just like to pick up what I’ve already ordered. In days past I would at least get an email message with a button to click saying I’m Here. Not so with the last two orders places using the app. Email notifications using this app seem to be no longer available. What we have here is a recipe for dissatisfied customers. Count me as one of them. I don’t recall when I wrote the review above, but as of today (08 Jun 2022) the current version (4.46.2) still hasn’t fixed the problem I described . What I find most frustrating is that other food services (most notably one that specializes in chicken) figured out how to make this work years ago. Still a pain to use the Panera app.

Continuous Improvement Project: 1) Allow order ahead for Drive Thru. Allowing ordering ahead with the pickup location being drive thru would help optimize drive thru throughout, increase availability of order and pickup options, and increase customer satisfaction. I was in a unique position of not being able to leave my car due to a sleeping baby. I also had a gift card that was loaded on the Panera App. Because the Panera App lacks the ability to make a gift card payment from the app either inside or in the drive thru (another Continuous Improvement idea), I order the Rapid Pickup option, but then went into the Drive Thru to pickup. This both confused and bothered the employee, but thankfully his critical thinking skills allowed him to move his arms and legs to pickup up the sandwich from one section of the prep area to another. Fix this easy problem by allowing drive thru pickup as an online order option. It’s easy, is barely a couple line software update and a 30 standup meeting in the stores. The ROI is much higher then the LOE involved.

Good app except. The app does not give me credit towards my rewards. When you order in the app and your reward card is linked through the app, when you pickup your food at the store it doesn’t come with a receipt it only has a kitchen piece of paper on the bag. The app doesn’t give me reward credit for my order or my 5% cash back rewards I’m supposed to be receiving from my credit card company who’s partnered with Panera Bread. There is a way to get your missed rewards IF YOU HAVE A RECIEPT which PB DOES NOT provide when you order through the app. I’ve emailed customer service and they never responded. I’ve called and spoken to one customer service rep about a bad experience in the store. This is really ridiculous. The app is supposed to provide convenience but instead it’s just a major glitch. Now I have to stand in line and order to get my receipt so I don’t miss my rewards. I eat here atleast 4 times a week. Bad customer service. Management should be using the app and aware of these issues. This shouldn’t have to be brought to your attention through bad customer experiences. Bye bye Panera bread. Your customer service team needs supervision. I’m taking my business elsewhere. That’s a shame.

Fine app - if you get your food. I’d been using this app for a while, loving the rewards and simplicity of the rapid pickup. However, today the order was not there when I got there. It was busy, so okay. I waited a half hour, periodically checking on my poor dog who was stuck out in the car. Finally I went to talk with someone at the register, and they didn’t show any record of my order. The lady told me to keep waiting (for an order they didn’t have?!) and acted like I was just being impatient. No one would look at the order confirmation I had, there was no offer to remake it, not even an apology for the trouble. The staff completely blew me off, and I had to just leave. This is inexcusable customer service. Update - I contacted Panera customer service and they did eventually refund, so I’ll add a star for that. The process to get that done was still a bit of a pain, though, and I’m reluctant to go back after such a terrible experience. My suggestion - the cafe needs visibility to track the app orders, and if the cafe is busy, there needs to be a way for that to be factored into the pickup time. The app isn’t worth anything if you don’t get what was ordered!

Don’t have a rewards program. I want to get one thing out of the way. This is a great app and makes actually getting your order very easy and convenient. I have no complaints in that regard. That being said I don’t think they should implement a rewards program if the payoff is so insignificant. I believe it takes a total of 10 orders to earn a reward. This however is not my complaint. Why I believe they shouldn’t have a rewards program is because the “reward” is so minuscule there’s no real return on investment if you will. So if you spend $250 on the 10 orders, my reward is $1 off my next beverage? Something that already only costs them cents on the dollar? I’m fine with the app, I love Panera’s food. I ask that you simply remove rewards, or actually reward loyal customers.

Breakfast options on the app are ridiculous.. I went to two Panera stores today after making purchases on the app, only to find that the breakfast soufflés, which my pregnant wife was wanting this morning, were sold out and they weren’t making any more. Never mind the fact that it was 9:00 am, and all the soufflés were marked as available on the app. Never mind the fact that I had to drive to both places to find out my money was wasted. And with the app purchases, money that was supposed to go elsewhere is now tied up in me waiting 7-10 business days for a refund. This is a terrible experience, and your app is at the heart of it. If you’re going to offer food items on the app that are limited in quantity, either update it to where people can actually see what’s at the bakery, update your store policy to keep bakery items available for the DURATION of the time you claim to sell them, or take them off and make them store exclusive. This should not happen, and I doubt I’m alone in this experience.

Love Panera, quirky app in need of simplifying. I love Panera. I use this app multiple times a week. I do think there are some ways that they could streamline the ordering process, but for the most part, it does what it needs to. I do have 2 issues with the breakfast portion of the app. I often forget that it ends at 11, and I realize it at 10:45. So I go to order delivery or rapid pick up at 10:45, and it’s already no longer available in the app. Even when I try to order online, it tells me breakfast ends at 11... but it’s 10:45. Why can’t I order breakfast? Especially for delivery? This doesn’t make sense to me and is incredibly frustrating! My other issue is with some of the breakfast sandwiches. I can’t order a bacon, egg, and cheese on brioche and pick the option to switch to a bagel. I always have to call in the restaurant after I order to have them change it. After months of doing this, one of the employees finally was kind enough to tell me if I choose the bacon, egg, and cheese on ciabatta then I’ll be able to change it. AND THEY HAVE TO DO THIS TOO! WHY does this process have to be so complicated?!? Bottom line, there are some improvements that could be made. At the end of the day I love Panera and I’m grateful for an app to be able to order it through.

App needs lots of fixes. As of May 23rd, 2022 the app has been on “maintenance” for like 5 days. I hope they fix the major issues the app had like charging you for the fountain drinks even if you were an unlimited sip club member, or sending your order to random locations, or confirming your order is set only to send a “it might take longer” message that you need to accept or the workers won’t get your order. Honestly never had problems with my order, only problems with ordering. I also had to call several times to get my totals readjusted if I got charged for extra things or double-charged. Last time I called was for being charged for a drink, and the customer service girl gave me attitude after giving me a credit and said “you should always check your totals and not just pay if it’s incorrect”. - sorry if the app has glitches and it should theoretically run well so busy people can just order in 3 clicks and run to get their orders for their lunch break.

Major difference between online experience and in store experience. There’s a major disconnect between the experience in store and online with panera. In store you can customize your food however you want and you can use multiple rewards at the same time. Neither of these is a feature in the app or on the website. Want steak on the bbq flatbread instead of chicken? Can’t do it on the app, only roasted turkey is available to substitute. Want bacon on your Baja Mac and cheese? Can’t do it... they don’t have any customizable options for the Mac and cheeses... Have a dollar off a pick two and a dollar off a sandwich and a dollar off a soup you want to use? Sorry, can only do the dollar off the pick two. They won’t even let you use the dollar off a sandwich unless it’s not on a pick two! All of these things I can do in the store. There is no excuse for not being able to do these on the app or website. If they want to take away these options in store, ok I’ll accept that, as long as their customer experience is consistent between the store and online. Panera, aka Saint Louis Bread Co (as they should be calling themselves), is better than this and I’m extremely shocked at just how different these experiences are. I don’t know a single other restaurant or store that is so different like this.

Delivery and Rapid Pick Up ROCKS!. I have definitely started eating more Panera since I’ve downloaded this app about a year ago. I use the rapid pick up often. It is nice to walk into the Panera that has a long line of people waiting to order, and I walk right by all of them to pick up my order that’s already been freshly prepared. And then I walk right by all of them again with my bag in hand, their faces showing confusion and jealousy. The app works for me most of the time, however, there have been some times where it acts clunky and malfunctions, such as giving me an error when I want to sign up for text updates on my delivery. And it is very frustrating when I want to order some food through the app, but it is not working and not available to use. Sometimes, if I kill the app and restart it, that alleviates the problem. Sometimes the app has been taken down for updates. They do provide a notification when they anticipate it will be ready to use again, which is nice. I love that the app is synced with Apple Pay. I also like that when I want to add a card payment, it can photograph the credit card so I don’t have to type in the numbers. I also like that all my Panera rewards are available to see during checkout. I can apply one to my order if I like or save for later. Overall, this app gets five stars from me. I really like using the Panera app on a regular basis. But I probably eat too much Panera, lol!

Delivery and restaurant issue. I ordered $30 worth of food today and wrong orders were delivered to my house. It was missing half of my orders and they sent me two stuff that I didn’t even order. What’s more frustrating is that the receipt on the bag clearly stated what I had ordered, but someone packed the wrong stuff in it. I called the restaurant and they had no idea what had happened. They claimed that they have no control over the Panera app, the delivery third party, and the app for refund. They were nice enough to offer me store credit but couldn’t refund me nor resend my orders to me. The restaurant, delivery, and app are all independent from each other which makes absolutely no sense....I had to drive to the restaurant to exchange the wrong order, thus defeating the whole purpose of online delivery and avoiding contact during covid. So, why didn’t I check the orders? Well, the Delivery is covid contactless delivery and the receipt clearly showed my orders, so I didn’t think to hail the delivery guy to retake my order. Overall, my Panera app online experience has been a huge inconvenience for me and I will not use nor order using this app again.

Pretty useless over all. I think my biggest issue is....and this is more with panera itself. Advertise specials to me all you want, but they MUST be ordered through the app. Where's the security on the app? How safe is my personal info and credit cards? I avoid putting cards on apps because your data breach is my mess to clean up (because all you guys will do is offer some cut rate credit monitoring if there's a breach). I honestly just want to go into the store and order something. You know, crazy stuff like talking to a person. I'd love to go and get a half sandwich, but not badly enough to risk my credit card info. For me personally, add to that the fact that my panera is on the other side of town in a horrible location that very tough to get to and you get a store I patronize once or twice a year if that much. The specials in the app being tied to credit card info does nothing to incentivize me. And to respond to someone else's review, I'm pretty sure 'editor's choice' is a title app developers pay to have.

Inconsistent. I enjoy Panera food. Panera service is another story. This app usually gives me no issues. The first time I used it for curbside pick up I got my order no problem. The second time I used it for the same purpose the food never came out. The app confirmed my arrival and stated the food would be out shortly and handed to me by staff at my car. Never happened. Had to go inside and get the food myself which was sitting on the counter. Wasted time and food is getting cold. Come to find out there is a separate email sent that you need to click on the “I’m here” tab to get your food sent out. Why isn’t that on the APP itself? The app can confirm you are there at the store but not tell the staff you are there? What a waste of time. Outside of the curbside debacle I have ordered in person pick up before and have been given the wrong order also. Even thought the correct order is on the receipt on the bag the food inside of it is not.

Needs a feedback loop. Been using this app for years and love it. The app certainly has kept me going to Panera more than I would without because it’s so easy to order and get in and out quickly. Since Covid, I’ve loved the coffee subscription and will definitely continue, but I would like to pick up a second coffee some days and can’t redeem a second reward via the app. There is no way to provide feedback on an order after you’ve received it, they need to know when they got it wrong so they can fix it. Missing items are not ok and there’s no good way to provide that feedback. Please add this feature immediately! Otherwise a great app and I love how it pulls my closest location and saves my fave orders. Panera has gotten way more business from me over other chains because of this app.

Lots of lies. Don't be tricked by any of these "deals" that Panera advertises to try and get you to download the app. They say "get a free pastry with ANY order!" Then apparently my order doesn't qualify for the offer. How? The "unlimited sip club", which you have to pay for, is completely useless. You can choose from about 5 drinks and still have to pay for delivery unless you give them almost $150 upfront for annual. Orders have minimums, which doesn't make sense. I'm paying for delivery anyway, so I should be able to order however much I want. If you somehow find an actual good coupon, it actually works against you. Because the order minimums calculate based off pre-deals total. So no chance at "winning a free meal" or anything, still have to spend a certain amount to get any delivery. Also they charge a "convenience fee" ON TOP of a delivery fee. Which automatically makes me not want to shop here. If you like the food go ahead, but don't expect good deals like most food establishments app's have.

Contactless. There’s times where I would get it delivered to my house. I love there’s the option for it. I’ve honestly haven’t had any problems with my order being wrong or anything where I’m at, however I love contactless delivery. There’s no option for that, so I do type it clear as day in the delivery instructions. Ask I put is contactless delivery. Just leave at my front door and leave thank you. It’s on the ticket on the outside of the bag and everything. Well I don’t know what the miscommunication is, but it’s never followed. Now it could just simply be operator error cause, again, it’s on the ticket on the outside of the bag. It’s delivered through door dash and I’ve had it happen multiple times and I’m just like, read the freaking ticket. Other than the contactless delivery option, I’ve had no other issues with the app or the quality of food from the restaurant in my town.

Delivery Page. I love Panera. I’ve been going to Panera for a long, long time. I also love that Panera can deliver to my house! Super convenient when I’m in the mood for a Bacon Turkey Bravo or a blueberry scone. The app is easy to use and I love it...but I’d like to suggest one thing. When you’re on the app ordering for delivery and you’re on the page where you select when you’d like it to arrive, it should warn customers at that point that delivery is delayed because of high volume. My issue is that I’ve spent time ordering items and also customizing some of them, and when I go to pay it THEN says that they’re super busy and suggests a new delivery time. That suggestion should be before the order is placed so it saves time for the customer. Or even before you go to pay for it. Some kind of warning would be helpful. I know Panera is busy in the AM and that’s okay. I still love Panera!!

Know your bread!. When ordering online and making substitutions for a different type of bread, it would be helpful to know if you will be receiving only half of a sandwich versus a whole. We found this out the hard way. When ordering a kids turkey sandwich and substituting sourdough or loaf white bread for the default whole grain (which is served as a whole sandwich, i.e., cut in half so there are two parts) you will receive only a half sandwich. The sourdough and “loaf” white is only a half versus the classic white bread niche and default whole grain which appear to be whole sandwiches. Apparently, the size of the loaf of bread chosen determines whether you receive 2 parts or just one. While it may make sense from a portion size for children, it’s clearly not obvious, even for veterans of Panera. We made this mistake twice. Choose wisely so your little one is not disappointed.

Ooops Something Went Wrong. Just downloaded the update and after everything that I tried to do I received this error message at least once, most times multiple “Ooops something went wrong”. I had no problems with the previous version of the app. It took me 25 min to order 3 meals on the updated version of the app. When I went to checkout I realized that every time I had tried to add something to my order and received the oops message, it actually had added the item. So I now had 4 salads and 4 bowls of soup instead of just 1 of each. When I went to edit the quantity, oops message, 3 more times. Same thing when it came to checking out. This is no longer convenient and will think again before ordering using this app.

Needs help still. After receiving my meal, I wanted to view the new menu items. However, that’s not something you can do from the app. I had questions about some of the images I seen inside the app, but the app only wanted me to start a new order. I didn’t need a new order. My food was literally in the hand opposite the one holding my phone. I didn’t want to go have to ask an employee. I prefer my visits to be completely no contact. If this doesn’t change, I won’t try new items. Additionally, I wasn’t given the option to finish off the rest of my digital gift card in my account when I paid for my item. Nor is there a way for me to set it so that it automatically uses the gift card first and then my payment card when the gift card is depleted. Panera behind the times compared to other places. I tried to use the app support to send a suggestion and ask my question, but it took me to a webpage that didn’t allow me to do so. Instead, I had to select the questions that you thought of instead of the ones I actually needed to ask.

Poorly designed app, up-to-date features missing... Whoever made this app an ‘editors choice’ either lacks knowledge or did not spend much time testing it. For example, when it comes to payment cards / gift cards connected to the app account, there is a ‘current balance’ but no account sheet showing purchase and resulting balance history. You need a sheet of paper to keep track of the accounting. Starbucks and Dunkin’ do that better. The GUI is cumbersome and looks convoluted and dated. ‘Profile Settings’ for example has 9 menu entries, e.g. ‘past orders’, ‘payment cards’ etc but you have to log into each of those settings separately. I kid you not: you click on ‘payment and gift cards’ and have to log in to check you balance. You go back and click on ‘past orders’ and you have to login again. You write down the charged amounts and go back to the ‘payment cards total’ and you have to login again. (I am an IT Project Manager and have seen my share of badly designed software, but this is way up there..) And even though a payment card is connected to the account, when I used it at the Panera Store register the total card balance was updated in the app, but the purchase was not listed - the person at the register suggested to go online and type in the receipt data and request to get it manually updated. Sorry you ‘editors choice’ award judges - other store apps are way ahead in user friendly design, speed, feature rich design and interactivity with smart devices.

Cannot reset password through app. Tried several times to reset my pw so I can use this app and build up points. The pw reset came to my email and when I clicked on the link, it sent me to the app, but just the home page of the app, over and over. I even contacted customer service - had problems on the browser too. Several days later they sent a pw reset again, not seeming to understand that it’s a problem with their app. I couldn’t even try it out, because the reset link expired by the time I read my email. I responded and told them, but no one responded to me to help. That was two days ago. I tried to reset it on the app again, but now it’s not even sending a reset link at all. It’s a huge problem for the app if you can remember your old pw. I do think the app functions well besides that though. Customer service wasn’t great; they didn’t address the actual problem with the app at all.

Ormond Beach Store. We constantly have problems at this store. Mostly incompetence, and some rudeness. Getting the order wrong multiple times, missing items from the order. Inconvenient when going to drive thru then having to go into the store to rectify the issue. Employees not apologetic at all. Acted like you were inconveniencing them and they’re the ones who messed up the order. Called and left messages multiple times for a manager to call back. The employee answering the phone was playing gatekeeper; didn’t want to transfer me to a mgr. Tried to reach an area supervisor as well; no one returned my calls. I finally gave up. Very disappointed in the personnel in this store. What a shame because we really enjoy the food but the multiple negative experiences discourages us from visiting more frequently.

Decent app, but needs work to be great. This app is a big step in the right direction, but I'm honestly surprised by all the super positive reviews for it. Yes, it works for the most part, but it's far from ideal. Note: I frequently use it for Rapid Pick-up orders, on an iPhone 7. It's cumbersome to peruse the lengthy menu. Search functionality would be helpful here. The "favorites" feature is helpful but not well-designed. You must click backward while placing an order to access your favorites, making it seem like you're exiting the order . Whose idea was that? Not a customer's, I suspect. Also, the app's connectivity is glitchy in ways that other on-the-go ordering apps aren't. It locks up frequently for no apparent reason, sometimes when switching from WiFi to cellular connection. But not always. In short, the app works and is far better than nothing. And the item customization options are very handy. But it's nothing stellar or even consistently smooth.

Mobile Ordering. I love ordering rapid pick up from the app. I usually order the same thing: You Pick Two with a salad and mac and cheese. Recently, the mac and cheese portion for You Pick Two default size changed to large. This is a comically large portion (think family size) for someone who is also getting a half portion of another menu item. The first time I came home with a bowl of mac and cheese larger than my face, I chalked it up to my mistake. Maybe I accidentally hit the wrong button. However, when it happened again I went back to the app and discovered that the default size is large despite other You Pick Two items defaulting to smaller sizes. For people who order frequently and click through without reading, this results in ordering more food and paying more than intended. Either this is a shady plan to make a few easy bucks off of unsuspecting customers or a terrible design flaw. Either way, someone needs to fix it. Since I would find no way to submit a complaint via customer care, I’m doing so in more public forum.

Early morning flaw. I like this app a lot for ordering, and love that it works with car play. However, if you’re placing an order before the store opens, you have to schedule it as a future order to be ready 10 minutes after opening. That’s fine, but if the nice people are working they tend to open a few min early. When you place a future order, it doesn’t show up to be made until 10 min before. In my case, the store opens at 7am, but if they open at 6:57, they can’t see what bagels I ordered until 7, sometimes later. So the people who walk in and order at the counter get their food while I wait. Today they opened at 7, but my order didn’t show up until 7:02. Once they get the order it’s very quick. I realize it’s only a few minutes, but the store already opens later than I would prefer and I have to push time a little to stop. If I had those extra few minutes it would make a huge difference, and I would go more often. Even though I prefer Panera I end up going to Einsteins or McDonalds because of this.

Terrible App Ordering Experience & Support. This is my first time ordering through the mobile app, and the last time. I used the mobile app pickup option, which is probably one of the worst ways to order Panera. I love Panera, but the app makes me never want to waste my time eating there again, as it is so difficult to navigate and go back to the Home page, and redeeming your rewards do not work. I ordered four items: all but one of which I had issues with. The frozen caramel coffee tasted very funny, and I ended up having to trash it. I paid for the chocolate cookie, but it was missing from my order. The French onion soup was supposed to be free, as I used my reward of a free soup after spending $10. It was not free, and I ended up spending an extra $8 out of pocket. I feel wronged. I will never use the Panera app again. I have contacted customer service, but they gave me the cookie cutter reply and did not bother to add my name into the copy & paste. It said “Again, we appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us, [guest name].” I will not go back for a long while after this experience.

Terrible update. I don’t know why Panera felt they needed to “improve” their app. The old version worked perfectly and I never had a problem with an order. The first time I used this new version it wouldn’t let me remove the side, no matter how many times I tapped “no side.” The next time I used it, a week later, I customized my order specifying a half salad with no side. I checked it before checking out and it was correct, but on the next screen it showed a whole salad with a side! I had to remove that and start all over. A couple of days later I tried it again, and had a similar problem with my order changing itself. Eventually it was showing correctly, including my request for extra dressing. But when I picked up my order the “extra dressing” was not printed on my receipt, and there wasn’t extra in my bag, so I had to ask for it. I never had any of these problems before, and I used the old app at least 3 times a week - sometimes more.

Makes life easier when caring for Special needs. I take care of a young Lady with special needs I’m standing in line and waiting is very difficult for her. What she likes to eat out as he doesn’t have his money available things to do during the day. So daily our main excursion is to Panera. The option of ordering on our way there and being able to pick it up and sit down and eat it without waiting or lines is life changing. Your pick 2 gives her lack of eating problem a breeze as it’s hard to know what she wants and at least she will eat one of them. She normally eats both and it’s mainly the only food we can get her to eat daily. I wanted to thank you for making her and our life happier and something to look forward to daily. Donna Finn

Very glitchy. Always a different problem.. This is probably the most glitchy app I use. There is always a different issue each time I try to use it. Unfortunate that Panera has lost my money at least twice when I’ve attempted to order and come across issues that prevented me from ordering. Also just makes me less likely to use the app in the future when I know there’s often a problem. Come on, it’s worth investing the money for a decent app. One of the most frustrating issues is when you try to click something and the app just freezes. Another is that it prompted me to reset my password, it sends me an email to do so, and then when directed back to the app to change the password, when you click on the field to type in your password, the keyboard does not pop up and so there’s nothing else you can do. Also, why do I need to sign in every time I go to the app? Just keep me signed in.

Sip club rip off. I signed up for the sip club free trial and I canceled it at the end of the two months. At least I thought I did and I ended up paying over half a year at $12 a month not knowing that I was still be in charged. I called and they said it was not refundable even though they could see I had not used it in six months. It’s just an another one of those scams to hope you forget about it and they keep charging your money is the love Panera and now I just hate even seeing this symbol and refuse to go back there after that they’ve lost a lifetime customer over something so stupid enjoy your $72. Lost a good lifetime customer over it and they lost way more than $72. It’s idiotic that they would choose to lose a good customer just so they could swindle 72 free bucks out of it for nothing. That’s not how you run a business putting rules that you know will screw people over with no way of helping resolve the situation. I hate Panera now even though it was delicious and It was one of my favorite places until this. May their schemes be cursed.

Every single thing in this app slows you down.. Every single thing that happens in this app is animated, it slides and moves and brings up an ad or some other information, literally EVERY single time you do anything. It’s actually really funny. My husband is so well-known app developer and I showed it to him and he just laughed and laughed. it takes so long to use this app it is literally funny. As my husband says this is like the amazing example of how you do NOT make an app. It’s not unreasonable that they bring up ads to try to sell you extra things but it would be so easy to do that without literally slowing you down as you’re trying to give the money. And it’s not just the ads, literally every single button you press like when you tap OK or something there are two or three other extra steps where they show you an amazing colored animation or a photo or something and then usually it again ask you are you sure you wanted to take that button and so on. The ad is like an incredible display of animations and such, it’s like watching a video clip or something from Pixar.!!! Once again my husband says it’s hilarious that you were literally trying to GIVE THEM MONEY and the app slows you down at every single step. This is not useable by a busy mom. Of course everyone loves Panera but, well if you want to have a laugh try using this app

Was loving it but now can’t login. Initially I was absolutely loving this app I could order my food without standing in line, order to pick it up at my convenience, and more. That was until I did an update. After the update the first issue I had was it would say the restaurant was closed even though I would be right in the restaurant trying to place my order. Not only that but the restaurant didn’t close for at least 8 hours. Then another update came out so it did that update. Well after that update came out, I am now not able to login at all. I have been working with customer service on resetting passwords, being given passwords from customer support, deleting the cachet/history/cookies, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, trying from different devices, trying while on the Wi-Fi, tried someone else’s Wi-Fi, I’ve tried using my cell phone data, even after all that I still cannot login. So now the app has become pointless.

Not the best experience..... The salad and soup were perfect. The sandwiches were hard and dry (overcooked). The $4 cookie I ordered was not included in my order. I added a special note to my order asking to make sure and add butter to the bag...it was not included. When I arrived at the restaurant, I wasn’t greeted. Instead there were several employees talking (basically yelling) to each other about one of the employees dog that was outside parked in a car close to the door. One employee, not the owner, ran out to go see the dog....ignoring the customer. I had ordered the same sandwich yesterday and it was so delicious....hot and freshly prepared. When I arrived today to pick my order up off the shelf, it was not there, so it’s not like I was late and it was my fault the sandwiches were hard and dry. I was literally at Panera Bread within 10 minutes of placing the order. With my rapid pick up bag in hand, I wandered about looking for butter. No one asked me if I needed assistance. I walked up to the counter at the entry of the kitchen where the manager just happened to approach me. She showed me to the butter and was very nice. Before I left, I contemplated getting a baked item and the manager asked if I needed assistance. However, no other employee asked if I needed anything. I expect more from Panera Bread. It makes me sad to go to a place where good service and fresh food are expected and get cruddy service and bad food.

Mobile orders treated differently than in store orders. My review is due to a long wait for food service. Why is that on the app review? Because the app caused the delay. My family and I came to Panera and sat at a table rather than use the kiosk. Part of that decision was the line for the kiosk, the other part was my four children not being able to wait while we order. Put in our two adult and four kid meals for eat-in service with a table number, ordered a dozen cookies, and added a tip. Total amount was just under $100. Our order confirmation showed a ONE HOUR wait. While we waited, we watched several families enter, order, eat, and leave. Come to find out that if the total is around $100, the APP delays placing the order for an hour, even if you are already in the store. That is the kind of app design that infuriates customers and calls to the manager. Quit setting your associates up for failure and add a logic that eat-in orders with a table number get expedited no matter the cost. TLDR: the app adds an hour to your order even if you are already seated.

Problems with app. After my order has arrived, I get an email asking me how my experience was and giving me a choice to enter a number of stars. If I select a rating, it goes straight to the app and then absolutely nothing happens. No place to leave a rating, or comments or anything. Further, if I go into my order history to see if I can access it there, there is no way to do that. Bottom line is this, something was missing from my order today and the only option I had to leave feedback was to call the store manager (which results in an obnoxious hold time). Why is there no way to leave a comment, email the store, contact the driver, anything to leave feedback. And why send an email asking for a rating if that goes nowhere either. This customer support and feedback process for online ordering needs work.

Panera? More like SCAMera. I used to like Panera, they have good drinks and i enjoyed their food. I was interested in this free sip club program they had going on, my sister uses it every day to get free drinks for 3 months. I decided to sign up thinking i could get the same but no, I signed up for the free sip club, they accepted me as a member and the screen said “Thanks for signing up!” Likely story. Instead I was greeted with one free drink, I attempted to use the app 2 days later for my free sips and to my surprise, Panera was asking me to pay for a sip club membership? I didn't believe it at first, I logged out, logged back in, but I was missing my free sips. I feel betrayed and lied to by Panera for tricking me into downloading the app, creating an account, even putting my card on the app to sign up. Who knows what they could do with my card info, charge me for a sip club i was supposed to have for free? Charge me for the next 6 months without me knowing? Honestly, who knows what they could do! Panera has lost all my trust and I will not be redownloading the app.

Still among the best but losing a star. Occasionally, the Panera app offers a discount on something else with a 10-second countdown. I enjoy these deals. However, when ordering a drink through the SIP Club (a great deal), the SIP Club redemption notification often obscures the button to accept the discount. This notification lasts about 5 seconds, leaving only 5 seconds to decide on the deal. To improve the user experience, consider reducing the discount offer’s size or the SIP Club notification’s duration so that they don’t overlap. I primarily encounter these offers in the morning, when they provide a discount on a bagel (which I usually take advantage of), and in the afternoon, when they offer a discount on a sweet item. Another issue is the lack of an app feedback mechanism. There’s no dedicated category for providing feedback within the app or on the Panera website. I recall seeing an app feedback button in previous versions, but it’s no longer present. Consequently, I’m left to use app reviews as a means of offering feedback.

Messed up online orders always. I’m really getting frustrated with ordering from the Panera bread app for delivery. Just about every order ordered this way always has something wrong or messed up about my order. Sure you can call the store and they’ll promise a free pastry or something for the inconvenience, but it does nothing to stop the incorrect food items. I’m not talking about seriously customizing an order and that getting messed up, I’ll get to that in a minute. I’m talking basic food items on their menu such as a breakfast sandwich that you can get with scrambled egg, cheese, and bacon. Not adding or taking away anything from that menu item. It will still be wrong!! Today, for example, I ordered just that, and they never put bacon on my sandwich. Then at times where I do customize something, say a salad but I am adding more to the salad then what comes on it, I’ll pay for the extra items through the app but then will NEVER get those additions. I like their food. It’s good food. But I will no longer order delivery through their app. I will go some place else. I want what I want. I expect to receive what I order. You can’t deliver, I’ll go somewhere else.

Not-so-rapid pickup. The app itself gets 5 stars for allowing extensive customization, but it turns out that local franchises can de-prioritize orders placed with the app. It only tells you this by delaying the pickup time, which is displayed AFTER payment. The local manager in Milford OH was very friendly and smiled as she told me she delayed my order by 30 minutes (I asked about it 25 minutes after placing the order, standing in the empty restaurant wondering where my food was). If I hadn't asked about it, it would have taken longer. *To the developers* when an "ASAP" order is delayed 30 minutes before they even start on it, please launch a pop-up notification in the app asking if I still want to place the order. That would have prevented an awful customer experience. Because of today's experience, the Milford OH location has lost my future business.

Your UberEats promotion failed; all your restaurants hate you. You basically set up all your stores to fail (and you’re losing customers) because you launched a promotion with UberEats KNOWING your stores are not in a position to handle the order load. What moron at your headquarters came up with this hair-brained, tone deaf, poorly thought out idea? Now all your poorly payed staff are getting yelled at while making 10$ an hour as you corporate idiots, who came up with this unattainable idea, are ordering 500$ steaks totally clueless about your actual company. Idiots. Panera food is great. Its NOT great when it takes 3 hours to get delivered. The moron who came up with this dumbas- idea probably makes $500,000...and should be fired. Idiots. All of you (except for the hardworkers who actually make the food) are idiots. Who’s getting the blame? It’s the low paid hardworkers. Fire the dimwit who came up with this unbelievably poorly thought out idea. Is there a number we can call to yell at that person? You know, so people know the right people to be mad at?

Great when it works. This version is maddening. I haven’t had an order yet (4-5 orders) where I haven’t received an “oops - try again later” message. When I’ve been able to get to the point of food in my cart, there appears to be no way to go back and add an Iran like a beverage. Or when I’m lucky enough to get to the beverage menu, something easy like ice tea is sometimes an option, sometimes not (that part has been an issue with the previous version of the app too). I’m writing this review today because I’ve spent ten minutes in the app trying to check out, but keep getting “oops” messages. Doesn’t matter whether I’m using WiFi or cellular. Very frustrating. When the app works, this process is absolutely genius and I love rapid pickup. I just wish they made sure the update worked first.

Very buggy ordering. This app continues to be frustratingly buggy when trying to order. Just last night, I tried to do a delivery order. I chose my items, did add to cart, did checkout, and then it immediately went back to picking items from my order. First of all, there’s no court button, so I can’t access was already in the cart. I chose the items again and added the cart. It showed that were just two items, not four to indicate the previous attempt. I then attempted to checkout and it went back to starting a new order. Sadly, this is not a random occurrence. Problems like this happen all the time. It’s rare I can actually place an order in this app the first time. And sometimes it simply doesn’t take the item I selected, or it doesn’t allow me to change the side. And I don’t know why they refuse to have a cart button so I can actually see if something was added. I love Panera, but this is one of the worst casual restaurant apps out there.

Almost There.... I absolutely love the Rapid Order pickup option. As someone with a short lunch break, I have little time for standing in line then waiting for my order. As someone who hates making phone calls to place orders, the no-human-contact aspect is wonderful! However, I've had several issues with inaccuracies in my orders, and I wish there was a way to send an email about them as well. It seems counterintuitive to create an app for people who obviously dislike placing order phone calls but to require a call to fix issues. To date I've paid for several items I didn't receive, and frankly I'll give up on going to Panera before I start making complaint calls every other order. Later update: I really wish they’d update the app to display the *closest* locations rather than the most frequent. Lunch is a busy time, and sending an order to a restaurant 50 miles away by accident is an expensive mistake I’ve made twice now. My fault, yes, but both times it was because I was in a hurry and the app defaulted to my last order location and I didn’t notice.

Rapid pick up often prepared incorrectly. As much as I love the food at Panera, my family is on the go and I almost always use the rapid pick up. I try to check the order before leaving but sometimes I’m in too big of a hurry. This sounds like a high number but I would say about 40% of the time something is incorrect with the order. It may be a condiment that I customize to leave off or sometimes they get the order completely wrong. Most of the time this happens with my breakfast sandwiches. My kids do not like cheese and sure enough it almost always comes with cheese even though I customized it not to. I live about 10 minutes away and I just don’t feel like going back up there which means a lot of times the food just goes to waste. It would be nice if somebody could double check the orders!

Best food ordering app ever. The craze for restaurants nowadays seems to be ‘to go’ and ‘quick pickup’ apps. Many of them are so difficult to use, though, that you’re better off order in person and waiting the extra time. This is not the case for the Panera Bread app. The user experience is perfectly optimized to order your food as efficiently as possible. I did not need to sign in with a Panera account and I didn’t need to give any information to continue as a guest. I was able to pay with Apple Pay and didn’t have to give my name or email. I was able to customize my order, removing some ingredients and specifying extra or less of others. The Panera I was ordering from ran out of the bread for one of my sandwiches, but the app easily allowed me to pick a different bread and order the sandwich. I was incredibly impressed by the ease of use of this app. Using it was easily the best part of my day.

Order not correct. I ordered a customized Greek salad and it was missing two of the items I requested. I also ordered soup and asked for croutons to be added on the side. I used the app to do this since my coworker was picking it up. She had to ask about since they didn’t put it out as ready and they told her they were out of croutons. Poor planning on their part to be at the busy Mosaic center on a Friday afternoon and be out of a staple item for salads. Very dissatisfied with this location and will consider going to the other location in the area from now on. Nothing was done to make it right and now I’m stuck with a salad of lettuce and onions because they didn’t add the other items or they were out. My colleague was only told about croutons, not the other toppings.

Says order is ready when it’s not. I’ve had multiple problems using this app. I would reorder a past item and it let me do it even when the store was out of that item. So I switched to making a new order each time. I thought that was working as sometimes the item would show as sold out and not let me order. Today I placed a new order, and the Panera online ordering system sent me an email that my order was ready. When I went in to pick it up I was told they were out and they didn’t know why it let me order. My choices were a refund or a substitute item. This is a waste of my time and the Panera employees time. Please improve the app or make sure the store is keeping up with tracking what’s actually available if that’s where the problem is. Love your bread but this is making me not want to order.

Overall Average, with a few problems. Overall the app has everything you would expect, but I’ve encountered a few problems. Lunch orders cannot be scheduled to be picked up at a later time if you are ordering before 10:30, it just tells me that every item is out of stock. Unlimited sip club is a great deal, but it also has the same issue with ordering in advance. Since it can only be redeemed every two hours, you can’t order for now, use it, and then put another order in four hours later and use it then. I have also had issues with coupons being used when orders haven’t gone through yet. Essentially if an order starts processing and encounters whatever issue, then the coupon is used regardless of if the order went through.

App just doesn’t work. This app has not worked for me in months! It did originally on my iPhone 6s and then it just stopped working one day. I would receive the message that “ it could be a problem with signal strength or congestion on the network. Try connecting to WiFi for better service”. I doesn’t make a difference if I am connected to wifi or not, I receive the same message. I’ve tried deleting the app and reinstalling it. It never works. I get the same message. I got a new iPhone 7 last month and I am using 11.3.1 update. Thought it may work now. Nope same message. Not sure this app will ever work for me.

Love panera!. I discovered Panera bread in Long Island NY about five or six years ago and I immediately loved the concept of a healthier more convenient way to eat instead of all the fast food places that have very poor options when you’re on the go. On the menu, the sandwiches and salads are made with fresh ingredients, they are average priced, they offer smoothies, and even yummy bakery treats if youd like. If your watching your caloric intake, Panera makes that convenient as well by listing all of the calories for every item on their menu. Panera also has an app that you can order from and pay ahead to expedite you picking up the food instead of waiting in line which I LOVE. I am ecstatic that we now have one in Dover Delaware!!!! Thank you for coming!

The Best Service and Friendly Staff. I work in medical sales and have been using Panera for all my lunch and breakfast meetings. They have the best customer service in any fast food restaurant ever. If I am waiting on a catering order, the staff will alway ask if I would care for something to drink, and how my day has been going. Everyone is always friendly and willing to help carry your large catering orders to your car for you. I have gone to multiple Panera’s throughout the Denver Metro area and I can honesty say they are all consistent with their service, friendly staff and of course very GOOD food. Thanks Panera Bread for making my life better for my clients and myself.

It’s quicker to just order in person. The app itself is okay, but almost every time I open it, I have to re-sign in. The password reset NEVER works, so I usually just end up going and ordering in person instead, or eating somewhere else. The input screens often have buttons covered by the apple keyboard, making them almost impossible to navigate. Unlike every other app on the planet, the forms don’t allow Apple to pre-fill with your saved info, which means you have to manually type in your contact info and credit card info every single time you order (because, remember, the password reset never works, so don’t expect to sign in ever again if you forget your password).

Convenient. I use this app a lot and works well to get my food order most of the time correct. I’m very pleased with the app, food and delivery service too! One late evening I placed an order from the counter kiosk, paid and pick up my order. Got home to relax and eat...... but they did give me a half a sandwich instead of my full sandwich. They threw all my pastries (broken) in one bag instead of wrapping them individually the other things i ordered was fine but I was hungry and upset. I called that location manager and she honored my request and gave me a full refund. Because she knew who did it and will be on quality control. Doing that kept me coming back! My next order was delivery service and it was correct and delicious.

Oops!! What happened to breakfast??. I love the update-I can finally unfavorite some items! Some I had duplicates of and others I tweaked a bit and forgot to override the previous choice. BUT I don’t see breakfast items anywhere!! I looked under all of the categories and didn’t see breakfast items hiding anywhere! Bring back the breakfast menu for ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!! While you’re at it, how about a utensils option, either opt in or opt out? I bring my Rapid Pick Ups home and use my own flatware so the plastic utensils go straight into the recycle bin. That’s better than putting them in the garbage to wind up in a landfill somewhere but it’d be even better not to get them in the first place!

Don’t make a mistake you will pay for it one way or another. I was good customer consistently there 10 to 15 times a month. I made a mistake in the location to pick up the food. Not sure how since I go to the same Panera every time but it was my mistake. At that store I realized the error and instead of their assistance was told I would need to make a call to get it corrected but they would be happy to take a new order. I called the 855 number, put on hold for some time and told that they would have to call that store and ask for a refund. She did not have the authority to make a decision. At that point I just told her to do what they think is right, I spent enough time on this and wasn’t going to stay on the phone to grovel for a couple of bucks. I get it, if I had made these mistakes in the past but being a very good customer and I had hoped For a better experience.

APP NO LONGER WORKS. I have been using this app for years and it hasn’t been until the recent last few months I have been getting the error message “trouble connecting”. It started out as something that happened occasionally probably for legitimate reasons. Now the app is completely non functional. I get the error message every time I open the app making it impossible to order anything (and my fiancée is getting the same message on his phone as well). I don’t even get a welcome screen. Just the instant “trouble connecting? try connecting to an internet connection”. I know it is a problem with the app and not my connection because I have 4gLTE data and 100mbps wireless internet connection at home. This is significantly disappointing seeing as I eat at Panera several times in the span of a week and don’t always have the time to wait in line at a store. Please fix this problem!!!

Recent App Design. I use the Panera Bread app on the daily basis. Lately, there have been some redesigns that I think are not very good. First of all, there is no way to select salad dressing on the side and extra. You have to pick one or the other. I figured I could pick one and then put something in the comments, but I come to find that there is no place to put additional information. I looked all over the app and could not find it. This field used to be there. Also, this may not be feedback on the app, but I see it every day on the app. I have rewards that I will never use. I thought these rewards would just expire, but when the expiration date comes around that date just gets reset to tomorrow. I’ve had these rewards for months now. How do I get rid of them?

Horrible app. How this has such good reviews is beyond me. This has been my experience with this app: 1. I get two gift cards for Christmas. I load them into the app (as I do with other brands). This app enables me to do that, so I think... cool... two less cards to carry around. 2. I order at Panera and ask how I can pay using my gift cards (now visible in the app). She tells me she needs to manually enter the 15+ card number. Fine... I think to myself, but odd the app makers didn’t make that scanable at checkout. 3. Neither card works. Both get declined. Manager comes out and says it’s because the app doesn’t include the PIN for the gift card... which I had to enter to have the app accept the stupid card in the first place. 4. I no longer have the gift cards (with pins) and the app which accepted both are making them totally worthless - zero value. I spend $50 of my own money with $50 of gift cards in this stupid app. Thanks Panera. 5. Worse.. when I hand the phone to the checkout lady she thinks she is closing the app but she deletes one of my gift cards from the app (because of the giant delete button the app developer placed there). Thanks again Panera. Honestly - this app is a piece of sh*t. And it not only didn’t help my Panera experience it ruined it. I may never go there again.

Mostly great. A few weeks ago I went to one of the locations and was told I couldn’t order a specific item on my salad because there wasn’t a button for it, but I’d previously ordered the salad with the item twice online and a few days before in the same store. I told the manager to go get another manager that I could talk to so she went to ask someone then came back and told the cashier to give it to me. Then as I waited for my salad to get done they were in the store talking about me as if I wasn’t there. I called corporate who apologized but I’m still waiting for the store manager to call me to discuss the incident. I’ll try another location completely out of my way before I ever think about going back to that location.

Unfair pricing. Why charge more for an online order to be delivered vs in store pick up. Other apps that included online ordering for delivery do not charge more for their items. The prices are also not affected by “maintenance” for the app; your app is free if you wanted fees make a price for the app. If you are going to charge more for delivery then all app orders should include these “maintenance” fees. It’s unfair to those who choose delivery pay more than others for similar items. Just very disappointed, in a way it is price gouging your food. People get upset about price gouging with other items(ex gas). Overall it is unfair pricing and has led me to use other apps for delivery of food. Chick-fil-A which either has the same or more business doesn’t charge extra for delivery or “maintenance” app fees.

Bug when updating contact info at checkout. Since the major update in early April, the ability to update contact info at checkout has been broken. When using a gift card, I have the option to update my contact info. When I change any field, I am prompted to hit “next” to move to the subsequent field, which works fine until the last two phone number fields. The numeric keypad is displayed over the “save” button and when I hit the “next” button it does not advance to the following field, leaving me no way to save my changes and return to checkout. I am left with no choice but to cancel and leave the contact info unchanged. Please investigate and fix this. Thanks.

Deception and Greed. Turn back the clock before Panera was publicly traded, and you’ll find a company who cared about the costumer. Now it’s back to chasing the dollar and diminishing quality. Examples: 1. The rewards program used to reward the customer with items like free pastries, free individual bagels, and occasionally free half dozen bagels. Now? Just a way to push new products. Promo codes for BOGO on their incredibly underwhelming yet overpriced sandwiches, a $1 off pastries, and bagels are ignored. 2. Open access to cups is unavailable like it used to be. 3. They never keep enough bakery goods in stock for the morning rush. 4. If you order online, half the time they don’t hold your food and instead blame you for using online. 5. The food size portions have gotten smaller. 6. If you order a bagel online but choose not to get a spread because you have your own, but you request they include silverware, the system REMOVES your selection from the receipt. 7. Customer service is a feel good front that does not address the concern of customers, but pacifies them for profit. 8. Most of the staff is unpleasant and incapable of consistently toasting a bagel. It’s actually a bit mindblowing how much a mix bag it is on the quality product. 9. THIS IS THE ONLY BAGEL BRAND COMPANY THAT DOES NOT APPLY CREAM CHEESE TO THE COSTUMERS BAGELS BECAUSE THEY ARE LAZY AND GREEDY.

Good but.... Panera needs to do better on showing accurate inventory in the app for rapid pick up and delivery. There have been multiple times where I ordered soup in a bread bowl and the app never showed that the location was out of bread bowls (so I would have to either get something else or ask for a refund). I’ve noticed lately though that Panera in my area will let me know if they’re out of bread bowls after receiving my order, which is nice so that I don’t have to waste a trip to get a wrong order (or have the delivery person waste the trip bringing me an order that’s wrong). However, Panera is not consistent about notifying me, so I don’t always know my order is wrong until afterwards.

Track my order window gone. There is NO WAY to go back to the “track my order” window after ordering for delivery. I exited out of the map view to peruse the rest of the app while I was waiting and I cannot for the life of me get back to where I was to see if the order has left the building yet, let alone to be able to contact regarding my order. This is a major fail, why would you make your app more difficult to use by not including a “track your order” option on the title menu screen? How can I even cancel this order if I wanted to since I cannot see any info on my current order? Your past orders screen is useless in this matter, clicked on my “most recent order” to see if that would give me more information since it wasn’t delivered yet but it just takes me to a new order screen. Extremely annoyed. Deleting this app and will just go into the store if I ever eat this food again....

Bad checkout flow. Panera is great and their app is mostly great, but the checkout workflow is TERRIBLE. The app will often wait until after checkout seems to be complete to let me know that their has been an error with my order. For example, I generally pay using Apple Pay and frequently after I’ve been notified that my order has been submitted, I’m alerted that there’s been an problem, like that my order has to be rescheduled. This check should obviously happens before taking payment. Another check that should happen before payment is if the user wants to receive text message updates. I have in the past, submitted an order only to realize 20 minutes later that the order didn’t actually process because I hadn’t selected if I wanted to receive text updates. This check should happen again BEFORE checkout and payment. TL;DR Fix the checkout workflow!

Reordering used to be slightly better. I’ve noted that your more recent releases tout your reordering capabilities; however I’ve experienced a loss of functionality. Given that I’m a member of the MyPanera+ coffee subscription, I’ve ordered an iced coffee that requires customization, since the default custom items don’t allow me to do it. I ask for a little half-and-half cream to be added and two raw sugar packets. I used to put this in the special request open text box and those comments would be saved for use with my next custom order. With the current version, those special notes are erased, so I have to retype them in every time I order an iced coffee. My request is to have the special comments saved as part of the order as it used to be and/or it can make the reordering process far quicker. David

Dothan location. My birthday was May 18th. I ate at an out of town Panera Bread on Sunday, May 20th, and the cashier told me about my free bday pastry that would expire May 25th. I told her I would wait until May 25th (today). Now in Dothan, I ordered a breakfast and coffee and surprised my pastry wasnt offered. I mentioned it, but it was not showing available. This cashier must of sensed my dissapointment and gave me the pastry! I hope this review does not get her in trouble. I reaaaallly appreciate it. Ive had a hard month and needed cheering up. While eating, logged into my acct and it showed I collected on may 20th (nope, I deferred). First, thank you for the good food and clean eating areas. Second, thank you, Dothan Cashier. You made my day!

Never used app but have been charged 9.99 every month. I hate these people ! I down ladder this for covid convenience s on me how they signed me up for “ coffee club” ( which I know I never signed up for as I don’t drink coffee!! Every month I’m charged 9.99 !! I contacted them via email after trying in vain to drop this on the app somewhere (?!!) no replay except the usual “ well get to you ASAP” Except they Nevef got to me ! Now I’m on month 7 (?) of payments so I have to go to my bank and stop this ( not sure if someone has hacked it or what but it’s not my charges ! I’m in Birmingham AL ! Only Panera close is summit ! I’m so angry at being ignored that I’ll never eat here again Just don’t download that app unles you want someone to hack you ! I’ve had to change all my paswirda etc I’ve just had my second “ email to reset my iassword ! After being hacked abs telling these people to shut down my account , apparently it’s back up again

Managing Chaos. I order using this app at least once a week. I have a toddler, a baby and work full time. Often we will stop at Panera after daycare & before an evening activity. Using the rapid pick up option saves me from the nightmare that is waiting in line with a crying baby while corralling my toddler. I also tend to order about 30 min before I plan to arrive so my toddler’s soup is just cool enough to eat. It is amazing to walk into Panera and go straight to the pick up shelf and park the kiddens at the table with dinner. I also have used the app to order a delivery of cookies to the dr’s office after they accommodated us. Super easy way to say “thank you” without having to do the baking, delivering myself!

Don’t make us download the app, “or else”. It is really frustrating when apps force you to download the app as soon as there’s an update, and force you out of the app if you don’t download it. In the case of Panera, if I want to see what soup or whatever else they’re serving for the day and I’m in the middle of being out and have bad service, I cannot just simply download the app right then and there. I want to spend my money at your store and use your app, but yet you want to kick me out because there’s a new update. It makes me not want to eat at all there for the moment because I’m not going to go out of my way to find out what they’re serving. You can’t give us the option to download it later? It’s a pet peeve. I’m sure others feel the same way but possibly don’t mention it.

One big delivery issue, but otherwise a good app. This app is convenient and easy to navigate UNTIL you actually order your food. In the last few months, the Panera app has started telling me my order is ‘out for delivery’ as soon as I place the order (instead of when it is ACTUALLY out for delivery - usually about 15-20 minutes later), making me wait by the front door for around 45 minutes to make sure I do not miss the delivery, when in actuality the food is rarely delivered until about 45 minutes after it is ordered. I find it more convenient to do Rapid Pick-up under those circumstances (so I can get my food faster and without waiting restricted to my living room for almost an hour). If Panera can fix the delivery issues on the app, it is worth five stars.

Thanks for the Free Coffee. I have always enjoyed Panera but I am definitely there more often with the free coffee option through the summer! My one request would be to add a pay with app option in the drive thru like other apps have. Curbside is great but sometimes I like the spontaneous convenience of the drive thru and end up paying by cash or card. Scanning the app would make that so much easier! And I know I would have a visit counted towards my rewards. Same as some of the other reviewers, I would like to see better feedback and customization with the stores. I appreciate the cream when I ask for it but when you’re in a hurry or driving it would be better if it could already be in the cup. Thanks!

Useless for dine-in. Decided to try placing a dine-in order during my visit today. Worst decision ever. I added everything in my cart, then at checkout a dialog comes up and says my order will be ready in an hour. An hour?? Sure the store was bustling but it shouldn’t take an hour. So I went to the counter and asked the cashier about it, she was completely unhelpful and just offered to take my order at the register. Which was fine until we got to my order of their Signature chicken sandwich. The cashier says this item was only available on the app or from the self service kiosk. What…? How is it acceptable that there are items that cannot be ordered at the counter? So I ended up having to place my order for the THIRD TIME at the self service kiosk. Terrible terrible experience. Forget using the app or even ordering at the counter for dine-in.

Difficult service experience with app. One thing that is extremely challenging is that it seems the store doesn’t have the ability to shut down the app if it has too much foot traffic to keep up with demand. I placed an order on the app and received a message that it would be ready in 10 minutes when I got to the store, they told me it would be over an hour and apologized and said they would refund my money. I would rather see the app shut down to ordering then to order and go into the store and be waiting and have to ask how long the wait would be. The store did everything they could to make it right but it’s a poor experience when you’re expecting to be able to pick up something fast and then you have to shift on the fly. Other online ordering apps that I have seen shut down the app when there is rush-hour traffic and they don’t have enough people to keep up with demand. My suggestion is that would be a better approach. Would keep employees and customers happier and less stressed. Otherwise the food is great. People are great it’s just the app is apparently lacking in the way mentioned.

Radio General Manager loves Panera’s Customer Service. The manager, Bruce was exceptional on last week when I came in to bring back an oatmeal raisin cookie that I thought was just a little hard to chew. He apologized and asked if he could bake me a fresh batch. I couldn’t believe he was willing to go the extra mile but he did and the cookie was hot, and fresh out of the oven & absolutely delicious!!! He even suggested a hot drink to go along with the cookies. After a long day & not to mention the crisis that we all face today, it’s good to know there is still good customer service to make the day a little lighter. Thanks to Bruce, I am officially off my diet and will be back for more cookies very soon!

Great App and Great Customer Experience!. I promised I'd give a 5-star review if they fixed my Favorites bug, which they did. I have to give a lot of credit to Panera for all the innovation around placing one's order (whether from app or kiosk). The worst thing about Panera -- standing in line to place an order -- is now a thing of the past. And the app is just so user friendly, what with the pictures, detailed descriptions, total customization, saving of favorites, and attractive UI. Panera is one of the companies really doing things right! And the fact that they are allergy-friendly as well, puts Panera at the top of our list for grabbing a quick meal.

Decent App, When Not Offline at Peak Hours. There’s been many times, during the week, at peak ordering hours, that the app is somehow shut down for maintenance. It’ll throw an error: “We apologize for any inconvenience. Our application is currently unavailable while we conduct essential system maintenance and enhancements.” Not understanding why that would take place almost daily, during peak times, unless they use that to slow down the orders, due to limited staff. If that’s the case, simply state that. I do enjoy the “free sips” program. Food is good, when it’s discounted. I’ve noticed, when I leave location access to “Always” - you seem to get more discount offers during the ordering process. I try more entrees this way.

Good food if you get all of it. I would say that nine times out of 10, I do not get everything that I order. What is exceedingly frustrating about this is that there’s nowhere in the app to say that I did not get all of the order. Other food delivery apps let you click on each order and report if you didn’t get everything, or if the food was poor quality, etc. Panera, though, doesn’t seem to care if you get all of your food or not. Most recently, when I didn’t get all of my food, I contacted customer service through their website and they didn’t even respond. I’ve also tried calling the restaurant when I haven’t gotten all the food, and no one answered. I would use this app more, if I always got the food, and if, when I don’t get all the food, it would seem Panera cared to know.

Location tracking doesn’t work when no data connection. The app has a location tracking feature that activates when you place your order, and it keeps the app active and running in the background. I’m not sure what purpose it serves or what value it’s meant to provide to the user, but I have to force-close the app to disable the location tracker. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that the store location I frequently visit is in a cell “dead zone” with no data connection to update my current location? In any case, I don’t see the point or value in this feature at all.

Terrible experience all around. The point of an app is to make the ordering process smoother for the customer, from order placement to receipt of goods. Panera struggles on both fronts. The app is mediocre at best and conveniently, the deep links to call or email customer service don’t work. Once clicking “I’m here” when you arrive to get your food, it takes FOREVER for them to deliver to your car. I have tried multiple locations and it has been true for ALL of them. Worst part is, if you say anything about how long it took or go inside to pick up your food yourself, the employees act annoyed that you expected your food in a timely manner, considering the rapid pickup parking signs give a 5 minute limit yet their own company doesn’t hold to that. Panera needs to take a lesson in operations and customer service from Chick-fil-A!

Just want to say thank you. For someone like me who lives in my car, the sip club has strong benefits for me. I just signed up today. I grew up occasionally getting Panera but not super regularly. Now I totally see myself eating here more often (planning to order something here soon at Panera currently) and it allows me a semi pleasant place to warm up and hang out in mornings. One thing I will say is I changed my password and the app still wasn’t letting me log in (with the correct password on the attempts) so there seems to be a glitch with passwords on the app. In any case thanks again and praise the Lord Jesus Christ! Believe in Him and you will be saved.

Love Panera hate the app. I use to use this app all the time to order food made it so convenient to pick up after work. But now it keeps giving me a message saying there is trouble connecting to the internet and to try a different connection. I have tried LTE in multiple places my home WiFi, school, and even the physicals store WiFi trying to see if that would help, it has not. I updated the app, deleted and reinstalled the app, even restarted my phone and no improvement. I tried to contact support with no success if anyone knows a fix I would appreciate it. If it’s a bug and fixes after a new update I’ll gladly change my rating :) I’m not giving 1 star because it use to work and I really want it too I have hope it’s just a glitch...

Buggy, no redemptions.. maybe because of last update?. As of March 1st 2024 the rewards are not working. I will click redeem and the app just brings me back to the menu, I’ll click on the item I want the $2 off on but it doesn’t “redeem” the rewards are just non-functional. They free sip rewards work but non of the offers and rewards you get by accumulating are redeemable at this time. You click redeem and it just goes back to the menu over and over. Not sure but I think this is also happening from the html ordering page as well. There money saving ones are not redeeming. Edited to add that as others have said the shake to feedback also doesn’t work for me so this review is the main option for “support”

Bad morning @ Panera’s. Today I ordered ahead & got a text that food was ready at designated time in the shelf. However when I got there 2 guys went outside to smoke, leaving a kid listening to something on his earbuds. He totally ignored two customers standing there. My order was Not on shelf. A cook finally got kid’s attention & pointed to us standing there. He waited on first customer & I finally got attention of a cook just standing there. I don’t think she spoke English as I attempted to tell her I saw my name on a bag behind the drink station. After review, I saw I was missing a bagel. Then I tried to get kid’s attention to check another bag. He said I was good but when I got to car the order wasn’t correct. The two guys were Still outside smoking so I just decided to give up then to go back in & deal with the same people.

Organized ordering, crashes when you track. I can order and customize my food, it tells me when a particular location is out of something (which is good as I order at work and at home in 2 different cities), and I like that. It suggests stuff I like. Fancy. It also will crash while tracking my order (you absolutely cannot lock your phone, minimize the app, or look away from it: stare. it. down). The amount of time it does this is nearly every time. Sometimes it will let me tell it to send updates to my phone. Today it will be a surprise when my food shows up. I don’t like that at all. When the app crashes it lies to me and says you’re performing site maintenance that you’re not really performing when I check.

Absolutely loving the Unlimited coffee plan. I have always felt that Panera Bread offer better coffee than Starbucks and when they then offered the monthly subscription for “unlimited coffee” I have been enjoying their Hazelnut brand for months now. Their app is also brilliant. I can make an order for my free coffee (or anything I order like their excellent Broccoli cheese soup), choose where to get it (in store, delivered to the curb or pick up inside) and then I get a notification that it’s ready and waiting for me. Just love Panera Bread - the first café to offer free WiFi back in the day, by the way!! Well ahead of everyone else. Thanks, guys for great service too! Love your people in Hemet, CA!

Better. A couple of weeks ago I ordered my normal online and headed over to pick it up. It said it was ready at 12:52. I went in and it wasn’t on the shelf so I waited. And waited. Employees walking past me several times...a manager filling up a drink for an order I asked, “if that’s for my order I can get it.” E answered, “I don’t know we do it by name.” I told him my name and he ignored me. Went about his business. By now it’s 1:05. I ask an employee in the floor, “ is it normal for an order to say it’s ready and not be up here?” She says, “we’ve been busy all day.” And walked away. I waited and waited. It’s now 1:10. I make myself know to the people across the counter and finally one says to the manager from earlier...do we have a phone in order .... I say “I ordered online.” He heads to another screen. They put my order together apologize.. Gosh! Years ago I thought it was crazy when I worked right at this Panera and Martha made us greet every single customer and we were great at it. Customer service has kind of sunk in comparison and that’s sad. However..today’s order was perfect and they did much better.

Easy to use. It’s our go-to for to-go!!. Online order is quick, easy, and so efficient!! We always order Pick Two’s with drinks so that we can get the Chocolate Chippers for $.99 each. The app is so easy to use and adding the $.99 bakery item is extremely easy to do. I thought it would be complicated and we would have to order in person. Ordering through this app saves so much time!! It’s so convenient when we just need to pick up something quick. Our family loves it!!! You can customize your order without any difficulty or complications. No matter where we are, we can always place an order at the nearest location. Great app!!

Finally Accessible for VoiceOver Users. I have not used this app in months as it was inaccessible to people with visual impairments I.E. VoiceOver users on iPhone. Today I decided to try it for whatever reason, and it finally works very well. Controls are properly labeled, one can use VoiceOver gestures to make selections etc. I am not exactly sure in what version this began working again, my guess is around 4.3 or so. I don’t know if Panera reads these reviews, but thanks for finally providing an app that is more inclusive. I am only giving 4 stars however because I contacted customer service a couple years ago to let them know of these accessibility issues and they really could have fixed this faster. Just please try not to break accessibility again!

Impossible to get refunded/support for items that were not delivered. This app is useful for ordering menu items though good luck trying to find help if your delivery order is incorrect or missing items. I’ve looked through the app many times and there is not an obvious Help or Order support link. In fact, after searching for several minutes I ended up just looking for the customer care number online and had to call about missing items in my delivery order. This has happened several times now where my order was delivered with wrong/missing items and the degree of difficulty to find a way to be reimbursed for an oversight on Panera’s part is shocking. I’ll never use the app again you’re much better off using Uber Eats (where you’ll get refunded for missing items right away and won’t have to jump through hurdles to do it).

Great online order/delivery experience. Ordered online thru my mobile app for delivery. Very user friendly app. The text options they offer to keep you informed of order and delivery were very accurate and timely. I got a text that my ordered had arrived and I looked outside and saw the delivery driver coming in my building. Extremely fast service! Food was hot and exactly prepared as I asked. Napkins, butter and utensils were all included. Very friendly delivery person. Excellent customer experience! Delivery charge plus adding a tip is a little steep if only ordering for one person, however because of the service I received I didn’t mind paying the $3 delivery fee.

Awesome App! Zero glitches and fast delivery!. I’m wondering if the people who left bad reviews either need to update their phone or the app because I have an iPhone 7 and have had no issues at all! The menu is categorized and laid out nicely making it easy to find the items you want. Easy checkout I started to type the address and it popped right up no issue and I was able to use Apple Pay so I didn’t have to go get my credit card and enter that in. The food has been delivered ON THE MINUTE of the original estimated time of arrival both times that I’ve ordered food. You get up to date tracking of where the driver is and it’s actually accurate. The food arrived exactly as I had ordered it and was delicious! There’s a reason there are so many good reviews on here...wouldn’t pay too much attention to the bad ones they seem to either be ridiculously nit picky, user error (which would be pretty difficult I mean it’s self explanatory) or need to update their phone and/or app. Overall, nothing but positive things to say about this app and service.

Good app with a major flaw. Love the app works great but has a major flaw. My recent delivery order there were missing items. I contacted the local restaurant and the manager said because I ordered though the app they could not refund my card for the missing items. I asked if they could add the item or value to my rewards. Manager said no id have to call the store on or before my next next visit ask for the manger and they will replace the missing items. I did that a few weeks later and no one knew what I was talking about. This was a $10 value of missing items so I am out $10. Seems like store or corporate can’t fix errors on delivery orders made through the app. I’ll think twice before using the app for delivery going forward

Nice app, notifications do not work.. App is great. Notifications do not work. This is my first time using app. Submitted order and got txt saying another txt would tell me when order is ready. After 30 minutes decided to head to store to find out why order not ready. Order was ready and sitting on shelf but now salad was warm, soup was cold, and 3 frozen lemonades were not frozen. My wife then on my return tells me that notifications and "pick up time"(in app?) never work - I should just head to store and wait. If a feature doesn’t work, then the feature should be removed. Users should not need to “be in the know”. I will keep using app, but I will ignore any pickup up guidance and just drive over when the order is submitted. Also, the corn chowder they make works as a gazpacho.

App is not user friendly for in store use. I received 2 panera gift cards for Christmas. I entered the information into the app including the card number and the PIN number. But when I went to the store today and attempted to use the gift card from the app, the teller asked for the pin for the card. We both looked at the app and the gift card section and could not identify a pin. I was told by another teller that they need the pin to use a gift card in the store. They asked me if I had the plastic card. I don’t know why I would still carry a plastic card when I have it stored in the company’s app. So, no...I don’t have the plastic card anymore. I reviewed the gift card section and it states that in order to use a gift card without a pin I would need to visit the store in person. Obviously that didn’t work. No one at the store could help me out with the issue. I had to enter the pin in order to enter the card info into the app and yet it is not accessible to use from the app. I now have $30 trapped in this app and apparently have no way to use it. Not pleased at all right now. User beware!

Okay app, not so great rewards program. The app functions reasonably fine for my purposes. I don’t usually have a lot of customizations on my orders. Although, I do often use rapid pickup and there have been a fair number of times when I placed my order to find out that what I wanted was unavailable. The staff at the store always makes it right by offering something comparable. However, I would prefer that the app reflects what’s actually available in-store, like what the Starbucks app usually does. Also, for some reason, the app doesn’t allow me to order from the table when I’m at my usual store. Just kind of annoying. Panera’s rewards program is a bit stingy, as most patrons probably know. Plus, they limit us to earning visits to at least two hours apart, last time I checked. Chick-fil-a and Starbucks are definitely more generous.
