Cengage Read Comments & Reviews 2026

Let’s me read like any other book!. So many negative reviews made me upset that this app may not be a reliable source to use my Cengage A&P course, but after a quick download and use I can say it works properly -AS A BOOK- from going back and forth to exiting out of my book. It would be awesome to continue my progress on my course through the app and allow me to complete activities that would be amazing. Other than that one recommendation I believe the app fulfills its purpose as a book.

Read Aloud on iPhone 16 Pro Max. Yeah the read aloud doesn’t work on my iPhone and I had to get the unlimited for one semester to get my book. The read aloud works on my iPad Pro Sec Gen and my regular iPad 5th gen, same release cycle. Seeing as I had to pay for unlimited for a semester and your app doesn’t work on my phone which I rely on, I should get a refund but we all know companies like this won’t do that. I’m going to strongly recommend to my professor for the class I needed this for to stop using this service. Make an app that works, y’all force enough of us on a $110 unlimited plan for just one semester without testing your app on current tech.

Like the App. The application functions well, but the “Listen to this page” feature on my laptop experiences slowdowns in highlighting the currently read text. Initially, at normal reading speed, the highlighting accurately follows along. However, as playback progresses, the highlighting lags and move slowly. This issue is specific to my laptop, as the feature works correctly on my iPhone and iPad. I request a fix for this synchronization problem on the laptop version.

Zero stars. Need the old app back. I'm exceedingly frustrated that Cengage discontinue access to the mobile app for ipad and gave us the ereader app which is completely non-functional. I'm in the middle of an MBA and I need to be able to read my textbooks. The ipad app doesn't scroll text, it's glitchy, and the search function is nearly useless. The ebooks, which require side swiping every section are a terrible way to read a book, vs the well-formatted digial books we had access to in the mobile app which scrolled for each chapter, were easy to highlight and navigate quickly. User preferences aside, You don't just discontinue access to one app without working out the bugs on the new app! The app literally has hundreds of 1-start reviews. Please at least re-enable the mobile app till you sort out all the issue in the new one. I have a masters degree I need to complete. My only option now is to read textbooks on my laptop browser or buy/rent the physical textbook.

App complications and solutions. Hello I use this app a lot and stopped using it but recently started again since I have a 3 year subscription. Anyway I think the information and book selection is good so far but could be improved and also could be added too . More is better. Anyway my biggest issue with this app was that it would stop reading the text after every page how ever that has changed and is now automatically played endlessly this is great how ever the issue is that it sometimes reads copy rights and extra stuff that is not important. But the biggest issue to me is the voice is not fun to listen to it’s very monotone and robotic and can be frustrating to listen to after a few hours. There are a lot of options but they are still all very terrible to listen to and to robotic and sometimes it pronounces words incorrect. But the thing that I’d appreciate the most would be to add a voice that sounds more human like and not irritating thanks I appreciate this app a lot and only want to it to be improved on

Needs improvement. The app will close out during use and then you’ll have to reopen it. It’ll do this 3 times in succession randomly while reading or trying to highlight/put notes. I could deal with that but my biggest gripe is that what you do on the app does carry over to the website version. So if you read and highlight a book on the app then save to synchronize everything and open up the Cengage website the book will pick up where you left off for the last page you were on in the app BUT none of the pages you read and highlighted in the app will show as been having highlighted on the website. It’s very inconvenient because sometimes I carry my iPad with me to read my textbooks and then when I am home I use my computer to complete assignments but I can’t do that when none of the stuff appears on the website as having been read and marked up.

Unusable, just use the website. I have never written a review for an app before, but to the developers: have you tried this app on an iPad before? Maybe it’s better on a phone, but the eTextbooks are simply unreadable. Entire images are gone. (There are boxes titled “Figure _” that are completely empty.) The pages aren’t even centered on the screen, and it won’t let you drag or zoom to center them. The text itself looks awful, and there are random page numbers on some pages but not others. Don’t waste your time or your storage—just use Cengage on your browser.

Awful Textbook App. Coming from bookshelf, my other textbook app, this isn’t even comparable. I only got this one because one class uses mindtap and I need to be able to read my textbook from my phone. Talk about a captive market. This app is so janky, the search function is unreliable, the layout is confusing and it’s overall not user friendly. Oh, also, my book randomly disappears sometimes and I have to sign out and re-sign in for it to reappear. It often crashes when this occurs. If you can, use a different app for your textbook. And to the people running this app, please try to improve it, there’s nowhere to go but up.

Frequent glitches, can’t highlight. It would be the perfect app if not for the common glitches where it just freezes or the inability to highlight some pages, oddly. I’ve had to restart my entire phone several times just to get this app to refresh. It’s such a nuisance. I do like that it lets you take notes and the highlight feature offers a lot of colors. The search up keyword index isn’t perfect either as it somehow will not find all matched keywords and no one has time to manually swipe through an ebook to manually do that. It’s not the worse I’ve used but improvements are needed.

Practically useless to me. Great idea, but lacks in execution. Using on my iPad the progress bar in the bottom cuts off my view of the remainder of the page. I can’t seem to scroll up or down so I have no idea what’s below the bottom of the page. I can tell something is there because part of the text is cutoff behind the progress. Adding a way to hide/auto hide the progress bar would make the app far more useful. As an instructor I’m reluctant to use Cengage in the future if my students have to use the web version of the ebook. A large majority of my students use tablet or phones to read the book.

The Worst Textbook App Ever. I prefer to use the ebook because of its convenience. However, this app is terrible. After 4 years of using the Cengage ebook, I have never enjoyed any moment of reading, especially after each update. The app no longer offers a “lookup” feature (dictionary). The searching feature also useless. Moreover, you can highlight everything you want on the app, and it will not carry over to when you read it online through Cengage’s website. So, what is the point of highlighting then? Fortunately, i don't have to pay a ridiculous amount for something useless like this after this semester

Glitches. I am only using the app ebook reader, which allows me to read and highlight. I am not using this as an assignment course add on, so I can’t comment. The app seems really buggy, it goes to another page, 2-4 pages from where you are at when either trying to highlight or if you simply happen to click on the wrong, word or letter. It does not automatically give you a full page view. Also for some reason it does not show the page number you are at unless you click on the menu.

What?? No assignment notifications?!!. Yes, this is a reader but not much more. It is a stripped down version of the previous app. You do not have a list of assignments due by date as previously. The MindTap tools are not available. You can read the book, underline, and develop notes in this app which is not new as, once again, the previous app did. Cengage you emailed me and as asked me to recommend to my students. I cannot and will not. And to compound the problem, there is no choice for my students as you have removed the old app. Please consider debugging the need to sign in over and over. If I multitask with a different app, I am forced to sign in when I return.

Pretty good: one complaint. I like that the textbooks are easy to read. The writing is big and it's very easy to navigate your book. It's also very easy to access the read aloud feature. My one complaint is that when you hit the back button in the top left corner, it takes you to the library. If I was in the table of contents, click on the wrong chapter by accident, and hot the back button, I expect to return to the table of contents. Instead, it takes me all the way out of the book to my library. This causes me immediate frustration 5-10 times a day. Otherwise, great app. Easy way to read textbooks on the go.

I can’t believe a real person was paid to design this app. Cengage Read is such a poorly designed app that it reminds me of my 4th-grade “website” projects, which worked great until you tried to click anything on the page. Somehow, every possible function on this app manages to have some sort of issue. Want to highlight a section of the text? Have fun trying to find it later when an entirely different section has become highlighted. That’s if you even can highlight anything on the page, because and touch of the screen to the far left or right side of the page will trigger a flip to the next page. This app is simply straight out of the Stone Ages and I am only using it out of desperation. I would so much rather carry a ten-pound textbook all day long.

Disappointed Instructor…. Given the push to a subscription textbook service where electronic access is the only way in which to access a book, I find it completely befuddling that the application for reading such electronic textbooks on both an iPad and iPhone is so deeply flawed on such a basic level. The short story here is that the application cuts off the text at the “bottom” of the page. Need to use a larger font size? More text is cut off. This application has made the text virtually unreadable, in my opinion. I have no idea what other features are available in the application because I never even made it far enough past the first page before giving up entirely because the content was cut off. To go a step further, I am an instructor who has used other textbook applications and never experienced such a fundamental issue before. Simply stated, I will not use Cengage products in my courses until this application error is corrected. If I could give zero stars, I would. This application is completely unsuited for its purpose.

I really liked the app. When I read all negative reviews I was so doubtful to download it, but now after a month reading through the app , I really don’t know why they were this much hatful about the app. It works perfectly and beautifully through my iPhone, iPad and Mac and I had no problem reading my books with it. If they add more feature it will be more convenient. And the fact that you cannot copy text from the book was bothering for research purposes , but overall reading with Cengage app was satisfying for me.

Miss the previous app. The app just crashed and when I opened it up again, it logged me out. This is frustrating because the original app didn’t do this. Like many on the reviews, I have to use the app in order to read my textbook and I prefer to read it on my iPad rather than being stuck on my computer to read the textbook. So having it crash and having to relogin is inconvenient since I don’t have my login memorized. Besides crashing, it lags pretty badly, and sometimes it doesn’t show all the text. For certain tables, it doesn’t have the text in the first column. Please fix this app developers.

Super helpful!. I had been hoping for Cengage to come out with an app for their products for a little while now and am happy to say that Cengage Read is what I was looking for!! I mostly use it for the eBook features which are straightforward and user friendly. It took me a minute to figure out how to log in and download but after a few attempts everything went smoothly:)

Terrible App. I never write reviews for apps but this is truly the most frustrating app that I have ever used for reading. Were it not for the fact that I am required to use it for school, I would not use it. No matter how I adjust the font or zoom, my text ALWAYS gets cut off. Sometimes if I am lucky, it’ll show the top of the page when I make the font as small as possible but it is usually short lived because the app zooms in by itself. Given how expensive renting or buying from this company is, I had hoped they’d be able to produce an app that actually allows me to read the book. So frustrating and upsetting. Please do better Cengage.

Great accessibility. I can log in from both of my devices on the mobile app depending on what I’m doing. I love that I can seamlessly listen to my textbooks without having to bring my laptop everywhere to access the website. This is honestly making online college textbook reading a breeze now that I found the app!

The Worst Textbook App. I never have any interest in writing reviews for an app, but because this app is absolutely horrendous AND I’m required to use it everyday for school… I figured this was a worthy effort. There aren’t any instructions on the fact that you have to add your textbook to your library even if you purchased it. It zooms in and out on the text for absolutely no reason at all, and most times it will cut off half the text and won’t adjust appropriately even when you try to zoom out to reset the view. Highlighting is horrendous because it wants to glitch out and highlight whatever random text it wants. The view of the textbook is quite unprofessional in my opinion. It’s like they put it in the app without even thinking about how it would look to people reading it. You can’t even read most tables that they insert in the text. It’s an absolute joy to deal with this. In this day and age, I have no clue why two of my professors would choose this option. And yes, MindTap was required for me so I had to get the digital version and the unlimited subscription is much cheaper than buying physical textbooks and the addition software. Please, for the love of learning, don’t make me hate my class because this app and website are absolutely archaic.

Updated fast customer service. As you can see below I was very stressed about not having access to the text on my iPad. Well that was yesterday. I asked and I received. In one day! That is stellar service. If something isn’t right with Cengage reach out to them. Even if you’re cranky and stressed they want to help. And they did! Here begins yesterday’s rant: I purchased the course DIRECTLY FROM CENGAGE for two years with the Cengage and e-text book. I downloaded this useless app signed in only to find NOTHING. NOTHING AT ALL. I can only access my TWO YEAR purchase via Canvas. Which means I CANNOT LOOK AT THE BOOK WHILE DOING MY CANVAS OR CENGAGE WORK! WTAF?!? EPIC FAILURE FOR A COMPANY PROFESSING TO BE LEADERS IN ACADEMIA TO BE THIS FAR BEHIND IN REMOTE LEARNING. YES I AM YELLING, I AM SO IRRITATED WITH CENGAGE!

Impossible for students with vision impairment. Not only is this app horrid, and the voice options terrible, but it reads the pages so poorly and out of order, any student trying to learn would lose track. It reads the page number, title, and text listed at the bottom of every page before it begins reading that page. Then it proceeds to read the second column on the page 1st and the first column on the page 2nd. Then it reads the captions underneath each of the images, followed by reading the text and title at the bottom of the page again. When you turn the page it repeat this process all over again reading the second call them first and the first column second.

Inability to Use Split Screen. This was the only ebook website I could find the text book I needed for class; so, I didn’t really have a choice. I would probably not go out of my way to use this website/app again. When I want to change the color of the highlighting feature it only lets me do so half the time and I find the overall layout of the text book more complicated than necessary. The biggest grievance I have is that the app with not let me use spilt screen on my iPad. I like to have my text book open and my notebook open simultaneously so I can make notes as I read. So, the fact that this app will not let me do that is a big dealbreaker.

Glitches galore. Cengage is used in my graduate program and I thought the app would be helpful when I’m away from my desktop. It doesn’t work 90% or more of the time. On startup, an “Error” message pops up. The app will not load my textbooks on the dashboard and pops up with the same error message. The same message also happens every time I hit the refresh button. If a miracle happens and the textbooks DO appear on my dashboard, good luck getting them to download. More often than not, it freezes trying to download and will not be fixed by restarting the app completely. Sometimes these issues are fixed by logging out and logging back in, but for the majority of the time, it doesn’t work even after doing that. It is the least useful app I’ve ever tried to use. Not to mention it almost never gets updated. At this point, I can only access my books from a web browser, so if I’m ever without service or internet, I won’t be able to read the textbooks. Wish this app would work better because it could be so good!

Worst app I’ve ever used. If I could give this no stars I would. I don’t know how they managed to make a textbook reader so awful. How can you make a reading app awful you might ask? Well, it routinely just omits entire pages of charts. When it doesn’t do that, it often makes a habit of omitting important words. I was just attempting to read a chart that was supposed to give body systems in one column, and the autoimmune disorders and what they affect in the other. It gave the body systems, and it gave the body parts affected, but the part of the sentence that gave the NAME of the disorder was blanked out. How am I supposed to learn this way? I use this app because my disability makes physical books difficult and painful to use. And my education is suffering as a result of the app developers incompetence.

Good but can be much better. This is app is good. It’s very beneficial to not have to carry the book everywhere. It also makes for good use of time to listen to the audio while driving, doing chores, etc. But it can be much better. Currently, the audio software is very robotic & fails to keep me engaged. As an on-the-go student with many commitments, a follow-along audiobook version (or one with updated/ more realistic speech software) of this would be much more helpful.

Works better then the website but isn’t preferable. The main issue I have using the app instead of the web browser is the fact that I can combine the web browser page with my note taking app to make homework more efficient, but the app doesn’t allow this feature. Leaving you to switch between tabs in order to see the question; which can take a lot of time. Because of this I rarely use the app unless graphs and other images from the textbook don’t display properly on the cengage website. Thank you for your time! I hope this review can be helpful.

WORST APP EVER. Zero stars if I could. It only have one job. Read their overpriced textbooks aloud. The app changes voices every page, gets stuck, some of those voices are things like cello. None of the voices are understandable they’re all AI generated crap or sound like they’ve just sucked a tank of helium, and at least four of them read in musical instrument - I kid you not. In this day and age they should be able to have a decent voice read those books. They could afford to pay somebody on Fiverr a few hundred bucks to record their stupid books. This is app is completely useless unless when the page turns you want to hear it read to you in violin. Just go with your regular app that comes with your phone. It will be 1000 times better. Cengage is a money making crap publisher and it’s unbelievable to me that anyone in education could perform this poorly. F-

Needs assistance!. This app need a lot of help! There are no page numbers listed on the pages only if you go into the index of the book. This is very annoying seeing how I’m using the textbooks for school and am required to cite the page info. The pages also do not adjust and the text overlaps in some areas which makes it hard to read. It’s a hassle to get to the highlights and notes. And there is hardly any options for the text settings just to adjust the font size. It would be nice to scroll or use a darker setting when reading. This is one of the underdeveloped app that I have used for reading textbooks and wish they would choose a different one!

Terrible app from a terrible company. Like so many others I am required to use this app it’s terrible. The books are never formatted correctly despite being Cengage published books. Whenever I open the app it says “error”. I am not impressed with a lot of the content from Cengage and I feel frustrated that I am forced to use their products for my classes. It feels coercive and I really really don’t like it. I have to pay for products I don’t like and wouldn’t use normally and their products have such low quality standards, but if you you have a captive customer base, I guess the quality isn’t the primary concern. For books or documents Adobe acrobat & Apple Books can manage documents much better than this. I keep manuals for my car and major appliances in acrobat and have much more ease using and reading the documents. I have several ebooks (some free some paid) in Apple Books and that app also has a far better user experience than this!

Accessibility is so bad. I was already really hesitant to use this app as I hate having to use anything outside of Apple Books or kindle. I tried using the spoken content on my iPad & iPhone to listen to the book because the voices they have on the app are SOOOO robotic and hard to listen to. Tried using spoken content through my iPad and iPhone and neither read more than a page at once like how it usually can on other apps. So I thought I’d power through and use the read aloud within the Cengage app and it did the SAME thing. This is super counterproductive and forces me to start the player on every page. This is even more frustrating considering the layout of the book includes only a paragraph or so per page. Please fix this! This is super inaccessible for those who really need spoken content.

Terrible app. Voices are ridiculous.. This is supposed to be an education app for reading online textbooks for college courses. There are like 20 voices that are impossible to listen to. Jester is just someone laughing. They sound like robots or people with helium or worse (if that’s even possible). I was really hoping to be able to listen to textbooks on the go but that won’t be happening. Edit: developer sent generic response asking for more info to solve the issue, wanting me to create account and ticket on website. I’m not going to do that. The issue is all the voices are terrible. There shouldn’t be “jester” and “robot” for reading college level textbooks.

Disappointment Grows With Each Update. There are SO many issues with this app, including how your notes/highlights/bookmarks don’t sync up with your account in any other medium, even if you use your same school email address! The recent update seems to be messing up in my phone, where I can ONLY highlight in an obtrusive yellow color, and the other options to notate don’t appear. The only upside is you can listen to the text through an audio feature, but you can’t start from any section other than the very top and cannot highlight or make any notes while listening… embarrassing and limited usability for students!!

Don’t use this if possible!. I find the website fine, but the app is impossible. It’s not user friendly in the slightest. It’s impossible to find the table of contents when reading a book, and the app never syncs to where I was reading on the website even though I am signed in. I wish I hadn’t paid for a year of access and went with a different way to get my text books. These issues seem ongoing and easy to fix but nothing has been publicly done about them in the three months I have been using Cengage. Please make it work better!

Terrible execution. This app was a good idea that had the worst execution I’ve witnessed. Instead of being able to scroll like you would with a normal online textbook the text is split up into pages that won’t even fit a whole table, and have barely any words on them. What’s much worse is the voices. There’s literally one called bubbles that sounds like -you guessed it- bubbles, and is completely not understandable. Most of the voices used aren’t understandable, which is wild given that every other app I’ve used for narration was able to have an AI that you could understand easily. They made like 40 voices in the tiniest scroll bar that are all terrible and make my ears bleed.

Forced Necessity. I can see why the reviews on this app is so low. I had to have a 7th edition book for my class and the cheapest rental I could find was on YOUR website. Good. Awesome. Let me just get it on my computer. Maybe I can pull up the cengage website on my phone so I could study while I go about my business. Oh wait, I CAN’T! Because apparently I have to get the APP because I can’t access the book that I PAID FOR on a web browser! Okay, fine, let me just download the app. Lo and behold, I can’t even SEE THE ENTIRE PAGE because I have no idea how to clear out the bottom “go to this page” tab. I don’t even know if it’s capable of doing that. I have to pinch the screen to read the rest of the page. If you have a solution for me to see the full page I’m reading, maybe even find a way to format scrolling instead of the clunky swipe-to-next-section-of-the-page, that would be JUST SWELL. Thanks.

Cengage Read Review. I have loved the cengage-read app ever since the relaunch. Specifically, I use this app to read my business textbook. I love how I can highlight, add notes, listen as an audiobook, and bookmark specific pages. Most importantly, I love how I can read my textbook wherever I go. I will be traveling to Florence this upcoming spring and cannot wait to have the option to access my materials in whatever country I will be visiting. I would recommend this out to everyone and anyone.

Great App. Not sure why people are saying the app is terrible. It’s way better than the web experience on phone. I’m trying to do work on my phone MindTap on the web makes it so terrible even read the text book. It downloads the textbook so it’s offline and doesn’t need internet after downloading it. I think people are just downrating it because they might not like the textbook. I was almost considering finding a pdf version of my textbook but this is great! Does the simple things I need, view the textbook.

Horrible. I’m not one to post reviews, but this is so terrible that I had to leave a review. All forms of Cengage are horrific. I’m a college student who has had 3 classes that used Cengage as a primary form of education but it has been an awful experience every time. Registration pages rarely function. Any tests are extremely picky about what is the right answer. For a test on Excel, if you accidentally click a picture or a different button on the ribbon it will count it wrong even though you didn’t do anything. One of the worst educational experiences of my life

Very meh.. Reader is slightly better than the website which is atrocious. Highlighting barely works in app though. Still can’t have a dictionary function. I love that it allows you to download to the book to use offline, but then requires you to log in to see it. Defeats the purpose if I can’t use it without internet. Also, graphs, graphics, and chart are impossible to read. So tiny. They really show how much they care in their quality. They don’t. Overall just meh. All these textbook websites are garbage and they know it. They don’t care to improve them. This one doesn’t even have a feedback option. Professors, stop using these terrible sites and make your own lessons.

Great app!. I just downloaded the app since I am taking a course that requires MindTap. I was able to use the app just fine! I saw a lot of bad reviews where people complain about this or that and honestly, ignore them. Someone said the online browser didn’t work so they were forced to use app, well they both work as you will soon find out after downloading this app. Someone else said highlighting didn’t work, worked just fine I was even able to add notes to my highlight and change its color. Scrolling through pages was easy it’s like any other program like Pearson where the chapter is split up in segments so the page you are on is the segment. I don’t know why people are complaining you don’t have to know rocket science to use this app. The only thing I would change is maybe making the text reader more human like, it sounds to much like a robot. I like to listen to the chapters being read so I can do other things at the same time and not spend hours watching a screen.

Frozen and no developer response. When you’re busy studying and doing your assigned readings, the last thing you want to worry about is an e-textbook app glitching. The footnotes are frozen, there is no way to export notes, or combine highlighted texts or anything like that. When companies take over textbooks and then make them hundreds of dollars in an effort to encourage people to use their app or their e-readers, one hopes that the alternative functions well. It does what it needs to do, which is allow users to read their textbooks, that the users can do what they need to do, which is complete assignments, look up texts, references material. But this app and Cengage can’t seem to meet that standard to just work. It just doesn’t work often enough to make this a good option. Cengage charges how much for textbooks? Yet, can’t create an app that works most of the time. EDIT: I just went down and read the reviews, and there are barely any developer responses to glitches, bugs, user experiences problems and app issues. Way to be on it Cengage.

Reviews are exaggerated. Not sure what these other people expect, but this app does its job for me. I wanted a way to read my cengage books for college on my phone, and this app does just that. Granted, its not the next candy crush, but it doesn't have to be so im don't get why the reviews for this app are so brutal lol. 4/5. It'd earn 5/5 if the UI was cleaned up a bit more and if there was a dark mode... reading for a while and staring at the all white screen starts to strain the eyes.

Can't even log in. I would give this zero stars if I could, as the app doesn't even work. I wanted to use this so I didn't have to pull my laptop out for math homework, but I can't even enter my email address to log in. When you tap on the field to enter your login info, it doesn't pull up the keyboard. I've tried requesting the desktop site, mobile site, and even opening the link in my browser, but nothing has worked. Extremely disappointing coming from a company in education, especially when this should be a simple task.

Excellent App!. I’m not sure why all the negative reviews. I almost didn’t download this app because the reviews were so bad, but, once I read them, I realized they seemed like whining and not actual reviews of the app. So, here is a review on the app and how it works. I downloaded this app in order to read the text book on my phone. It had me log into my Cengage account, and it had all my text books available to choose from. The app is intuitive to use, similar to Kindle, Libby, or any other reading app I’ve used. It has both, a slide bar and a table of contents, to find the page you need. You can flip or scroll while reading through, and you can pick font size. This is a reader app, and it does what it is supposed to do.

Unbelievably bad. I honestly don’t know how it’s possible to have an ereader app this bad in 2023? It’s not a new or hard to master technology. The “pages” aren’t sized correctly to fit on the screen, and it’s possible to zoom out to show that it’s just a long canvas of different blocks that make up the “pages” but trying to scroll along to read will move you up and down. Turning your phone to try to fit two pages on the screen does god knows what but you end up with a totally blank screen that won’t change. A literal port of a continuous scroll web page would be a massive improvement over whatever they’re trying to do. Or just … a pdf of the book.

No functional. One would think after reading all the negative reviews about not being able to read the entire text on the screen that the app developers would do something about it but I see they still have not fixed this problem. Pity we are at the mercy of our instructors and don’t have a choice in what textbook company we use because I certainly would not recommend one that doesn’t have a functional e-reader. Pretty sure they do this so we are forced to rent the textbook to have any options for reading when a full computer screen isn’t available.

Terrible. I've been using the application for about a month and waited to leave my review to fairly assess the functionality. This app is trash. It doesn't even allow the text reading feature to read highlighted text, it just skips over highlighted text and resumes reading what's not highlighted, or sometimes the speech function doesn't even work. I updated the app and couldn't even get past the terms and conditions popup. It asked me to decline or accept, I tapped accept and it didn't recognize it, only the decline and close option was recognized, which proceeds to sign you out. This app needs better development and more testing, it's not good. I don't even want to install the next update because this most recent one was a pain.

Pointless. What happened to the flash cards and multi question part of the app?

Terrible app! Why did Cengage leave vital source!!. Disastrous app. Doesn’t read to me as it says. Spells out the letters. Can’t download the pages beyond ten to use in other read to me apps. Constantly signing me out. Can’t turn the screen sideways to view the words bigger as it shrinks to completely illegible proportions. Get it together and sort this out please.

Terrible do not buy, get a paperback!. App not suited for iPhone although it is listed in comparability. You do not get to view the full page of the book unless you pinch and hold the screen & if you turn your phone on it’s side you get less then 1/16 of the page to read at a time. Absolute disaster, unfortunately myself and other students have paid for this, don’t make the same mistake. Oh and Cengage, how about you stop fleecing students and actually provide a moderately decent app for your users? We paid for it???

Useless. Everytime I open the app on my IPAD the book that I have purchased has disappeared. I close the app down, sign out, third the IPAD on and off and it just won’t load the book. Fix your app

App making study even harder. This app is horrible. It constantly glitches out on my phone so I am forced to use on my iPad. My highlighting keeps getting moved for some reason. I’m two chapters into a bio psych book for uni and my highlighting is useless as it has all been moved to different parts of the text. It’s bad enough that you have to pay a fortune for a book that you only get for 5 years, let alone not being able to read and highlight it properly. I won’t be buying a book online with Cengage again. I’ll fork out the $250+ and get a real book next time. So disappointed.

Use bookshelf instead. I have no affiliation with Bookshelf, fyi, but I have found it to be a far superior product. Cengage is so glitchy, has reduced features and is just a harder app to navigate. The highlight tool gets confused with breakout boxes. Notes function is clunky. Realised too late I’d bought my textbook on this app, and now forced to endure it through the course! Won’t make that mistake again.

Really upset. Upset that I have paid $80 for a text book for my studies and can’t even use it. The first page is frozen. How am I suppose to complete my studies with only the publisher page ? now I have to spend another $100 and something for the hardback cover. Certainly won’t be giving more money to Cengage. I’ll source elsewhere

Best reader option. Best I’ve found so far. Not cheap but ok given it includes text purchase. Frustrating that it goes to top of page when unpaused. Love that it opens links in app, though option to default to browser would be handy.

Disastrous!. This app is a nightmare. You have to continually adjust screen size to see all the text on the page. When you swipe to change pages you get half of each page instead of a whole page. It makes reading for university a major challenge. If authors want students buy their books, I suggest this gets sorted out. I like the function of finding chapters easily and bookmarking, but reading with this app just leaves me frustrated!

Please do something, developer. This app is horrendous. Quite literally unusable. It’s a shame because a lot of students are paying top dollar for textbooks on Cengage and they don’t even have the ability to properly use them with this OFFICIAL app. Do something!!

what everyone els is saying. it’s bad, clicking through pages and sometimes it doesn’t load, sometime it brings me back an entire section. i need to fight the highlights to pop up most of the time.

useless. This app is useless. Last year it was slow, glitchy, and the text to speech jumped all over the place. This academic year, it simply won’t show any of my textbooks. They appear on the website, just not the app.

I never write reviews but I have to for this app. This app is extremely painful to use. For some reason they allow textbooks to be posted on this app. Not only is the interface terrible for reading. A lot of pages sometimes won’t even load. Whomever designed this app has never picked up a phone in their life and it shows.

The only app that doesn’t let me multitask.. Really? Its not that hard.

Buggy and won’t fix. This company does not care about its users, there are so many bugs and it’s really inconvenient. They won’t improve anything though because they genuinely do not care about their customers. The worst part is that in the textbook there are videos that contain necessary information that are not shown on the etext so I’m missing out on a lot of information.

Such a disappointment.. This app is so useless and frustrating. I thought I could read my etextbook and use text to speech while commuting to school but none of these features work properly. I deleted the app 2 hours after downloading it.

Impossible to read textbook. This interface is atrociously unusable. You pay all this money for access to a textbook and then they make it near impossible to actually use or read on anything but a laptop desktop browser. The pages are misaligned, cut off any text at the top or bottom, removes images, and is generally unnavigable. I’d rate zero if I could.

Frustrating. It’s crazy that the problems from 2 years ago are still happening now. This app continues to not function properly (I won’t even being to mention how awful the website version is). Between highlighting not working numerous times, definitions will randomly glitch open and you can’t close them which blocks the text on the page. Please fix these bugs. We are paying so much to use this platform and it is hindering our ability to learn.

Terrible app. App is terrible. Glitchy, doesn’t allow split screen.

Pages don’t fully load. The pages of my ebooks won’t scroll to the bottom of the page, the voice reading is glitchy….th entire platform is a mess. It’s easier to use my mobile browser to read the text, but even that doesn’t operate well or allow me to do annotations. These ebooks seem to only function properly on a computer

Cannot split screen. Every other app can

A travesty. This app is an absolute travesty for students with text disabilities. The screen reader crashes the app half the time I try to use it. The other half of the time it gets stuck in a loop where it wont read any textbook content and only repeatedly reports the TTS prosody rate. There are also larger global design problems which other people have detailed, but this one in particular get me upset because it affects disabled students access to knowledge and learning. If you are going to lock your content into proprietary UI, make sure everyone can use it. Shame on you.

Worst reading app ever. Hard to use and navigate, not user friendly at all. Can’t highlight content properly and never syncs notes right when using both online web and app. It’s very frustrating that you have to deal with those difficulties when you want to read and learn effectively. The most terrible thing is it doesn’t allow you to export textbooks to other apps like pdf or notability. Very disappointed and annoying experience, hope that I bought printed textbook so don’t have to use this trash app.

“You have no content here”. I purchased a book access and I can only view it on the website. The app is useless. Needs to be updated ASAP.

Won’t let me log in. Whenever I try to log in the authentication page won’t load and eventually just say that it can’t connect to the server. It’s not my internet since everything else loads on every other app

Terrible. Don’t use it unless you have to

Doesn’t work. Course isn’t showing up

This app is a travesty!. Can’t even scroll, incomplete pages, can’t underline or take notes properly or at all. A PDF would be better. Unacceptable!

Terrible!. This app cuts off whole sentences. The glossary and other functions are not available. The options to change font etc. randomly disappear with no way to restore.

Terrible interface. This app has made reading on this platform terribly frustrating. Pages aren’t loading, highlighting isn’t popping up as an option, highlighting doesn’t highlight the correct words, additional harassers are added in when reading highlighted sections and having the dreaded read to you, and the reader voice is so hard to follow. This has so much potential but missed the mark in a big way here.

Unusable Interface. I seldom write app reviews, but this reader is so unusable and poorly designed that I feel the need to warn others to avoid it. Pages don’t load, the app doesn’t format to horizontal, which is a joke, and worst of all, YOU CANT SCROLL ON THE PAGES. The single function that a reader is supposed to have is not present in this app, and I am puzzled as to how this app was able to make it through development and to release without anybody noticing. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, THE WEB READER ACTUALLY WORKS.

It’s fine. If you’re not mainly using this and just want quick access for texts books fast it’s perfect. If not, well that’s why it’s 4 and not 5 stars

Wont let me log in.. Simple. Can’t even log into the app…

Mindtap dictation #3. In the scenario on mind tap dictation email #3, the woman who is dictating the email is not saying the same thing as the transcribed text. The transcript should match exactly what the speaker said, for example the dictator said overreaching and the transcript said overarcing so which is it? This is not being accessible to all listeners, some may not be able to hear and this will lead to losing marks on assignments if the mindtap audio and transcript are not consistent.

Accessibility. Recent update broke what little VoiceOver accessibility this app used to have, making it completely impossible to navigate.

cant scroll properly and voice reading is so annoying. this is awful

Scam. The app doesn’t work. Can’t read your stupid textbooks if the text doesn’t load.

App issues. When you try to navigate in this app you have to be really careful where you tap.some areas act as they should and others you get no response whatsoever. Also resizing text is nonfunctional as it randomly cuts off text, which completely defeats the purpose. Text books are expensive and I 100% expect better if you are pushing texts and to use the app. Fixes desperately needed.

Split screen. It would be very useful if the app supported split screen.

can’t log in. can’t even log in and i’m not the only one with this issue, reading the reviews. it redirects you to an in-app webpage and when i put in my credentials (that i KNOW are correct because i just tried the webpage on a real browser), it only reloads the login page…..

Awful. Horrible app, the page is too tiny when you get the zoom to read work in the first try, after the second page, doesn’t work. There is no option to adjust the size of the page or zoom, again, awful app for really expensive books that as a student, need to buy!

Meh. Other apps are more convenient, the fact the text doesn’t stay open all the time and I have to consistently wake my phone and can’t have it continuously open with low power mode on is annoying , every time a required text book is on this app I sigh heavily

signs me out all the time!!. I’ve used the webpage and it logs me out after 2 hours and says my password is incorrect every time so I’ve been forced to changed it upwards of 3 times. Genuinely I don’t write reviews but when a textbook is $80 I refuse to navigate a website and app that are literally the most annoying and useless thing to use— a beginner web designer or first year comp sci student could do better it’s ridiculous. All universities that use this better drop this contract soon fr.

Split Screen. PLEASE add support for split screen. Otherwise it’s useless for taking notes. Thank you

Not Useable. I have never written a review for an app, but this one made me pretty angry. Cengage is completely inaccessible on my IPad that I use from school. Both on Safari and this app, When I try to log I receive the prompt “unable to sign in” although I am using the same email and password that I use to access my textbook on a computer. There is also no support that I can find and no developer on the App Store to contact. I hope the app works for you, I unfortunately cannot even access it.

WorkedOK for one day. I was referred to this app as I have learning disabilities that make reading difficult, as the app is supposed to have the option to listen to the chapter being read to you. First of all the voices are insulting. Some of them are just awful comical voices like it’s some kind of joke to need to be read to. Secondly, the second day I went to use it, it no longer worked at all. thanks for supporting those who have difficulties learning, as other people do. a zero stars for you.

Doesn’t work. Hard to give this app anything but a one star when I can’t even use it. I’m downloaded and uninstalled this app multiple times through the month and nothing called customer service and they were ZERO help either. Honestly it’s sad. I bet the app is great if it works but if you can’t log in at all you’re better off just using a different device and getting access to your textbook via internet or laptop.

Thee worst app. This app is a complete joke. 100% worthless and unusable. I was excited about the audio book feature but that is so glitchy you can’t use it. On the rare occurrence it does work the voices are so robotic and choppy you can’t understand the words. How Cengage gets away with passing this app off as a perk is beyond me. Students pay hundreds of dollars for these services and Cengage can’t even put out a functional app. Universities need to cut ties with Cengage asap. It’s unfair that students are required to pay to use garbage software that doesn’t work.

Unusable. If you have to read your textbooks on your phone, use Cengage mobile. It’s difficult but it works. I’ve had this app for five minutes and have already deleted it. It’s impossible to use. You swipe to read the pages and it will stop in the middle of the page, vertically, so you can’t read any full sentence. Quite possibly the worst app I’ve ever used. It has one job and one job only and can’t do it.

I hate this app!. For the cost of my e-textbook I would have expected much better! You claim that this is a great app for “on-the-go” I listen to my e-textbook while driving and I have to pick up my phone, unlock the screen, open the app, and turn on the audio after every page it reads! This is very annoying!!! Every time I open the app I have to re-select my preferred “voice” because it persistently defaults to Arthur’s voice. While it reads the e-book, it skips all the key words that are in a light blue, so when you realized it skipped something, again you have to open the app to read what was the key word it skipped!!! Extremely unsafe for people who spend hours of driving on the road and assumed this will be a great way to get some learning done!!!

Botched and annoying. Love that I'm forced to use this app that doesn't work, as everyone else says the robot voice is chopped, highlights don't save I have to go back and rehighlight everything multiple times, etc. Cengage rakes in hundreds of thousands from people trying to get an education and can't even supply a working site, mobile OR desktop. I'm actually going to lose my mind if I have to use this junk for another semester, oh wait I do! Developers should be ashamed of this cash grab.

Awful textbook app. I had to leave a review for the same reasons other students have, this is the worst experience in a required course you could have. Some textbooks are designed and formatted and work ok others are like trying to read through a straw. App doesn’t have a way to select or add textbooks to download, those have to be through an internet browser outside of the app. Unfortunately these publishers get away as they make lucrative contracts to colleges and take away the students choice.

Reading feature inadequate. I use ebooks bc I’m dyslexic and the book reader can read to me. This book reader voice is completely and utterly inadequate and would barely meet any sort of ADA requirements. The voice is so old school digital that it is difficult to understand. It is like having a conversation with a 1940s movie robot. For the love of all that is good and beautiful in this world, please update your text to speech feature so that I don’t have to listen to this and get tinnitus!

Would it be possible?. I just wish I was able to play some of the videos that are shown in the textbook online via the app if I’m away from my computer and or laptop. (Overall good experience)

Make Some Updates at Least. I’m not gonna get into how horrible this app is, but I will say this. At least allow us to have split view enabled so that I can take notes whilst reading my textbook at the same time. Some of my classes don’t give full context on their slides so I have to resort to the textbook and having to switch back and forth between apps on my iPad is exhausting. I don’t even think you guys read these reviews, but if you do: PLEASE ENABLE SPLIT VIEW FEATURE FOR IPAD.

Doesn’t even show the whole page?. I would give 0 if possible. You would think the first feature of an Ereader would be to at least show the whole page. Unfortunately that was a feature that was apparently cut. On every page I miss the first 2 lines of text and the last 3 lines of text because it is covered by the controls of the app. What a giant piece of garbage.

Great!. I love it! I can download the entire book, highlight, make notes, it slides from page to page easily, moves one page at a time, pages are big so I can see them, and I can use the book without service! Thank you, Cengage!!!!’

Needs Work. I don’t have access to a laptop or computer so to access my ebooks I must use the apps through my phone or tablet. This app is very sensitive and does not allow you to see the entirety of a single page and instead has half of two pages in your view. I can not find a work around and is very frustrating when trying to read or annotate. I think the idea of this app is wonderful but it needs to be majorly improved to meet the needs of it audience.

Liberty University is a scam. They say you can do all your class work using a mobile device if you don’t have access to a computer. Week 4 Can’t get into any of my reading materials for class and my professor says I need a computer. Yet they won’t disburse my loan refund payments to buy a laptop until November. By then I won’t have enough class work completed and they’ll drop me. Taking all my federal loan money and Pell grant money and leave me with no credits or anything. Just debt.

Garbage. Say “data not linked to you” but to use app, you must login to Cengage website which immediately links all your data/information about you anyway. To make matters worse, after you login there are zero instructions for how to navigate the app or access the books for your course. It’s shows my library has zero content, so I’m unable to read the textbook we’re using for my course. If I could, I would give the app a rating of -0 x 10 to the tenth power stars.

The app is just bad. Anyone defending this app isn’t a student. Mobile version of this app is very limited and hard to navigate. Should be revamped on a platform of more traditional readers. It’s much better to use real aloud features in basic web browsers, than to try and make a tool of this app. It is also no better on the iPad. I ended my beta experience just to be able to comment about this app. I downloaded it on the strength of the few people who said it was good. It is not.

Horrible through and through. This application is probably the worst reader app I have ever used. Every update seems to make it worse. The narration will randomly stop when it gets to a different section, highlighting is not synchronized across devices, and the layout is confusing to navigate sections of books. I switched my rental program for graduate school to get more paper books instead of this garbage reader.

Constantly glitches. This app constantly glitches the whole entire time I'm using it, mainly whenever I try to turn my phone sideways in order to have a wider view and bigger letters. Then the screen will go blank, and I have to shut down the app and open it back to to fix it. Then sometimes when I reopen the app, it still gives me a blank screen or a screen that's so tiny there's no way possible to see anything on it. I spend more time trying to get the app to work than I do actually doing my work.

Horrible. I thought people were being too harsh, but after using the app I really cannot believe that someone really sat down, designed, and then got the app green lighted. Completely awful it’s so buggy half of the time when I’m trying to read the pages aren’t even centered on my screen it cuts 2 half’s of 2 pages and makes it so both are unreadable. I don’t understand how someone could design such a simple app so poorly.

Wish WebAssign app existed. The intended purpose of this app is fine but could be better, maybe more quality of life features from desktop could be brought over. Writing a review mainly because an app for WebAssign would be nice. Mobile browsers can be finicky when using websites usually meant for desktop. Een concuzion, I wanta app on de phone to do homewohk. Sank you.

It’s working just fine for me. Not too sure why these rating are so bad. I’m using the app to read on my IPad instead of my laptop and I’m having no issues. Of course, it’s a bit different but overall it’s no big deal. I’m enjoying it!

buy book somewhere else. if I could put -5 starts, I would. do you want to tap the side of your screen to skip several pages. Oh did you mean to open a random graph? Oh sorry man did you actually mean to go 20 pages ahead and make me lose connection. Did you connect to wi-fi? There you go, please log in again. Every day? Seriously? Fighting with a stupid app is the last thing you want to do during a college class.

Text and back light option w/ dictionaries. I would like to be able to change the text size. The option to change the background to white and black for night reading and the ability to highlight a word and to look it up in the dictionary. Basically just follow Kindles format. Other than that I like the app very much.

The audible. The audible option is a great feature. As a working adult I often use this feature to listen to chapter readings. However, “The voice” is hard to understand and sounds to robotic. The speed of tone is either too fast or too slow when adjusted. Reading from your phone or tablet is a great option while using this app.

Easy to use with great features. The Cengage Read app is very straightforward and a great option to have etextbooks accessible on the go. I love having the option for the book to be read aloud on a faster speed so I can be productive during my walks to/from class!

Horrible Textbook App. Please fix the glitches!!!!!!!!! When you open the book in the app it doesn’t open to where you left off but rather someplace before that. Highlighting takes an hour bc every time you touch the screen, the page either moves or the menu pops up. You can’t enlarge with your fingers because it disfigures the page and you have to close and reopen the app several times to fix it.

Vertical Reading UNABLE. Makes you do everything page to page. Even with taking the self assessment quizzes so that’s really annoying. It would be great if reading from top to bottom scrolling was an option. With the current page to page format it cuts off while reading chapters and even worse when questions and answers are sprawled out because of it. Please add this feature.

Can’t navigate. This was great to have my textbook on my iPhone just before the midterm so I could study while at lunch at work. But this app is so bad I’ve deleted it. I couldn’t read the entire contents of one page on the screen or scroll to see the rest of the page. Next arrows don’t always take you to the next page—more like 4-5 higher. You’re better off accessing the text through your school’s online course. Suggest Cengage removes it quickly, fixes it and posts an update.

Nearly impossible to use. The pages are cut incorrectly, and not formatted right. Zooming in or out will break the formatting even more, causing the page to focus the text halfway off the screen, with seemingly no way to correct itself. The loading time for pages is very slow, even though the content is downloaded, and infographics do not show properly, as some are too long for my screen, which is the exact problem I had with the web version.

Update screwed it up. This worked just fine until the “update”. Now it is all glitchy. It will leave blank pages in strange places. I can’t get the pronunciation to play. The definition will lock up and not show you what it is, which is not very helpful! It is the most frustrating update. PLEASE FIX THIS MESS!!! I have to use this app because the program I am working on supplies our text book through it. I am seriously aggravated!!!

Annoying to Use. I use this app to read textbooks for my classes and it is an awful experience. I am not able to highlight anything and when I can it adds lines far away from where I am touching. It also skips multiple pages at a time so I am constantly turning back. I don’t know if these are bugs that need to be fixed, but I wouldn’t download this app until they are fixed.

Horrendous. I literally have only had this for less than 48 hours and I am extremely disappointed. There are way too many glitches and the support team is not available after business hours. The site automatically kicks me out every few minutes. I am in grad school and I do homework in the evening. If this was not a better and cheaper option I would literally buy my books full price. If I could give 0 stars I would.

WORKS FINE!!. I downloaded the app for my college class and it works fine! Now I can read my book anywhere I go. I was a little confused when I saw the 1 star reviews it had but works great so far.

If i could give it 0 stars i would. This is the worst app i have ever used. They don’t even care because they feel that the school will always use them as a book provider. The books are never available and it doesn’t show you how to download all books. There’s always some issue with this app. The moment a new company offers this service they are going down !! But i bet then they start trying to care because they will lose business. I’m rooting for the loss of business of this company.

Does not work with touch or Apple Pencil Support. Forced to use this app to read a textbook to teach a course and it will not allow to take notes or highlight using touch or stylus input, so I have to use my Magic Keyboard. Might as well be reading the e book on my browser at this point. This also means I can’t have the text open and my notes app at the same time to keep handwritten notes as I prefer. Absolutely worthless. I’m all for e books to reduce waste, but let me use my pencil to highlight and take notes. Huge fail!!!

Poor multi-tasking support. I have this app on my iPad. It bugs out heavily when I go into windowed mode. What I want to do is to have my textbook up on one half of the screen, with my notes app on the other half. What ends up happening is that the book pages either spazz out, or my Goodnotes or Microsoft word app gets shoved away. I’m unsure if it is a deliberate design choice, or if the app is just unoptimized. Either way, it is incredibly frustrating.

Highlighting Issues. The app is pretty good. My only issue is the difficulty of changing the highlight color. When you highlight the first time it automatically does yellow (which is fine) but to access the other colors you have to do a “fancy” click.

Just use the browser.. The app is NOT worth it. It’s not a bad site, just the app needs a lot of working on. I much rather would continue using the browser through whatever link instructors provide, you can read most of the information on the pages because it doesn’t let you scroll down only lets you go to the next page. It isn’t hard to use it just does not let you view valuable information.

Screw those with low vision. Not app eBooks can be viewed with the read app... this means you're forced to use the website... the website with a terrible audio reader. If only cengage cared as much about all of their students (including those with low vision) the audio readers would work better and maybe they'd actually pay to have human readers instead of paying robots that fail to know how to pronounce and emphasize the text.

Amazing relaunch!. Love all the amazing features this app has to offer! I’d say my favorite part is being able to have the book read to you as I like to take my phone to the gym I can listen to my book while at the gym!

Horrible. If I could rate this app a zero, I would. Everything about the app is terrible , down to the scrolling of the pages for the textbooks. Truly terrible. There’s so many thing missing from this app. The only reason why I’m using this app is for school . Other than that, if I didn’t need to use it, it would haven been deleted a long time go. Really a 0/10 app. I would never recommended this app for anyone. It’s not better on a computer than it is an iPad.

Barely functions. This weekend I was heading somewhere without internet. I was excited to learn that Cengage had an app I could download my e-text to so that I could study on my trip. Spoiler alert: Cengage ensures that isn’t possible. The problem is that this app is the most abysmal excuse for an application I have ever seen. You cannot scroll down the pages, adjusting the font size causes the lines to overlap, and the voice narration is barely understandable. I myself am an app developer and I cannot believe any of this passed basic QA. Disappointed in this disgrace.

Universities should reconsider. This app is horrible, difficult to use, does not work well on iPad. Can’t see the table of contents for my book. I did not have to use this app for my last two classes and now that I need to sign n it won’t let me and it won’t reset me password. This is not fair to us students who have no choice but to use this app for school. It’s ridiculous!

Unusable. I can’t scroll down on pages to read any part of the text that is below the screen. Using the screen reader, it does scroll down the page as it reads aloud. Unfortunately the screen reader stalls every 1-2 pages and I must restart it at the top of the page. There is no way to make it jump to the part where it left off. This application does not meet the minimum requirements to do what it’s supposed to do. Therefore the application is completely unusable.

Extremely Glitchy.. The entirety of the app is littered with bugs, if you manage to get past the sign in without the app redirecting you back and forcing you to login in like an endless loop… the pages on books won’t load in properly. Then when you refresh the page it shows your content for a brief second and then goes back to white. The app is almost entirely unusable, unfortunately. It’s unfortunate because I would like to read my textbook on the go and a mobile app is perfect for that.

Constantly Freezes. Decent e-reader app but freezes constantly and the search feature is helpful but doesn’t find all the matches and then you have to manually swipe around to search on your own. Love that I can highlight things though.

Don't see my book. I used to engage through my school to be able to read my materials and my counting book from a college class is not on here. All other books are.

Frustrating. This app makes studying harder instead of easier. Highlights don’t save, which defeats the purpose of trying to mark important content. When using the read-aloud function, it doesn’t resume where you left off—it restarts the entire section, which is incredibly annoying. Searching for text is clunky and ineffective. Overall, it slows down the learning process and adds unnecessary frustration.

Not quite there yet. I read all the negative reviews and figured I’ll give it a shot . It’s not quite there yet. I have an iPhone 14 pro, so maybe it’s not compatible. This might be better for iPads. You can’t really see the bottom of the pages. And it’s hard to move around. But I’ve only tried it for 5 minutes. Maybe it was user error. I’m better off reading the text from my laptop and monitor.
