Interesting content. I do enjoy the updates throughout the day. Articles interest me most of the time, good variety.

Local HS Basketball. I like getting info on local sports because my son plays high school basketball. I really enjoy the info, thank you!

Good paper. Good app.. A must for the local happenings in Sarasota. The app works as it should - no surprises which I view as a plus.

Always the best journalists since 60's when I started reading. Best paper best news best information thankful

Good online news source.. The HT has a robust online presence with their app.

Not a fan of the updated app. The updated app requires you to flip each page of the newspaper. But initially, the page is in shadow, so you must X it out to reveal the readable paper. And the print on an iPhone is smaller than it needs to be. It is much too small to read an article from the page, so you must click on the article, then X out the shadow to read it. That is not an improvement over the previous version of the app. Why did you make reading the newspaper more difficult?

Subscription. Some set backs with starting the service. Also, I don’t want to sign in to read the newspaper.

Great coverage, especially local and state issues!. Well worth the subscription price.

App doesn’t work. I subscribe to newspaper delivery and with that I am supposed to get the digital content, but I can no longer access it. Even when signed, I still hit a paywall to subscribe. I’ve reached out for help on this matter and they said they fixed it, but they didn’t. They’re about to lose a customer.

Easy to read headlines. So far the new app appears to give me the highlighted headlines to scan easily. Sometimes the updated stories are way behind the website so that is frustrating. But,... it does the job in what I need.

Much better design.. Much better design.

Not user friendly. This app is difficult to use when in e-newspaper mode. You do not get the entire article when you try to select it. I am unable to amend the settings to make it more amenable to my needs

Paper free newspaper. Don’t even need to leave my bed to get the paper!

Great content. Useful stories and I have the ability to choose what shows up in my inbox.

Terrible customer service. Received a subscription promo and tried to sign up online but kept getting credit card errors (despite trying on multiple devices). So I called and spent about 20 minutes on the phone with someone that had a very thick accent trying to convince him to give me the exact same promo I had received in my email. Eventually he finally agreed to the promo and now 2 days later, I have not received any confirmation emails. I guess they really just don’t want my business.

App Still Needs Work. It’s obvious that the owners of the Sarasota paper don’t want to invest the money in order to deliver an app that works. It’s still has trouble recognizing my account. Works on the other app and on the website but not on this app. Time to revisit the next sprint and get something’s that works. Perhaps try to talk to other newspapers that have actually figured out how to deliver news through a phone/tablet application. I want to support local journalism but the owners of this paper make it oh so difficult to justify doing so.

Very poor. Extremely unstable constantly crashing awkward interface must be improved. Today I can access USA Today but not the Sarasota Heraldwhich is the only reason why I continue to put up with the aggravation. I have plenty of access to STABLE news sources National and World. It is imperative to have the local and regional reporting for an informed opinion about the world we live in especially since state and local governments and entities affect lives intimately. I think you have a duty to your generally excellent newsroom to support them on their mission to your readership.

Works inconsistently.. I have to keep trying to access the digital edition. I get it fixed and in a short time it is messed up again. I keep paying for something I can’t use easily or consistently.

Hangs up multiple times daily. Every day the app hangs up, usually while reading a specific article in the e-newspaper, sometimes when browsing the e-newspaper. Cancelling the app and reloading fixes it temporarily until it happens again.

Glitchy , glitchy ,glitchy. Hard to believe USAToday would require its papers to use this not-ready-for-prime-time app. E.g., when asking for e-edition page always opens with grayed out overlay that has to be removed by clicking “X” that is late in appearing. This morning’s edition could not stay with article when scrolling down. Very frustrating- is my subscription worth this hassle?

Great Local news!. Some of notifications are not emergency or fascinating but overall for local news this app is excellent!

Sarasota Herald e-newspaper. This software upgrade is a waste of time to try to read. The old version was easy to change pages, read the articles and get the news efficiently. The new upgrade locks up constantly, jumps to numerous other pages by itself, ads pop up constantly while your trying to read an article, the turn page button works half the time. Most of the time an ad slides from the right or the tab button is hit and jumps you to another section of the paper so you have to flip back through pages to get back to what you were reading. I’ve been struggling with this garbage software and I have no choice but to cancel my subscription since this paper refuses to fix the problems with the e-newspaper

A day late. If it was not for the puzzles and a bit of local news, you would have been history months ago. Reading local news about Palm Beach, Jacksonville, etc. when you live in Sarasota is just not relevant. Also, your persistent left wing bias is offensive. You guys would not know fair and balanced if it hit you in the face. Robert Bennett

Old news. I have the digital version of the Herald Tribune. Recently, the Newspaper went to two day old news. Why would I want to read Sunday sports scores on Tuesday and Monday news on Wednesday after I’ve heard all I need to know on TV. The only reason to keep the Herald Tribune is the puzzles and cartoons.

Show old news. Seems to reshow the same articles day after day. There is no way to only view unread articles or to tell it to only show today’s articles. I keep trying this app, hoping to like it, but keep going back to the web version of the paper.

Poor user experience. I’m a subscriber. I’ll click a headline which takes me to the article. I’m reading when I get a pop-up inviting me to subscribe. Being a subscriber, I’m annoyed. To get past this pop up, I click “subscribe.” It jumps me out of the article I’m reading, back to the home page. Now I have to scroll to find the article I’d already started reading. Instead of writing a review, I tried first going to app support. But that’s more like an FAQ. Ugh. Fix please.

Misleading subscription control. Right in the app it states you can control your app subscription but you can’t. You must call during business hours. This app needs to be updated to reflect the fact that you cannot control any part of your payment or ability to pause or cancel your subscription via the app. Calling to cancel tomorrow.

Remove the ads!. The pop up advertising and prompts to tailor ads is beyond obnoxious. I used this app for a grand total of 5 minutes but will be uninstalling it due to the inability to disable ads for a newspaper subscription I already pay for!

Does not display the front page. It works well. Since I subscribe to the paper editions for a part of the week, it is nice to have electronic editions to view when traveling and so I can keep up with local news.

I’m A Snowbird But I Still Want To Know!!. We have a small house in Sarasota, Florida and we love Sarasota. I enjoy knowing the news and what’s happening there both when I’m there and when I’m not! The H-Trib is a wonderful newspaper that I thoroughly enjoy.

What happened to my paper?. I’ve subscribed for a few years yet now when I open the HT app it restricts my access to articles. Some I can see and read yet others it wants me to subscribe to. I’m already subscribing! It even recognizes me when I open the app but things go downhill from there. The app doesn’t let me check my subscription status, so I have no idea what’s going on. I can still read the HT by opening the e-mailed edition but that’s a hassle. May cancel for a few weeks and then resubscribe at the lower rate they advertise to me.

Frustrating app. I understand that this is a small turn on low fever that, presumably, is doing its best to enable E subscribers, do enjoy reading a newspaper. However, at first glance, I am finding it impossible just to get some reason format and I can read on my iPad. Hopefully I will be able to figure it out, eventually.

So many ads. When scrolling through the articles, the screen keeps bouncing around as the ads load making it very annoying to try to scroll through without losing your place

Love my hometown paper. One of life’s little pleasure, daily reading of our hometown paper. I like holding the paper in my hands, but also enjoy the digital edition. Melinda Sutter

Not news, biased opinions!. Being from Florida I wanted to keep up with current issues in my home state. I have been reading & following articles & it is very clear the article are OPINIONS NOT FACTS! Deleting the app now! Report the NEWS, keep your opinions to yourself!

Getting better. The new app is a definite upgrade from the primitive one they had been using since the Stone Age.

Worst app out there. Every time they make a change you have to delete the app and reinstall. They tell you you have to subscribe even though you already are. This app is an embarrassment

Disappointing. This app is limited in the news articles it shows. I was unable to find an article that I know is in the paper. There is no way to search for a specific article. The other app for this newspaper is more complete.

Terrible performance. Constantly freezes, difficult to navigate pages as it doesn’t recognized touch directions on an IPad. Frustrating.

I hate the new view. I liked this app and the paper when it presented the paper in its original form. Now it’s just like any other news service. If there is a way to get the old view back I have not yet been able to find it.

I appreciate the convenience. I’ve been reading the H-T online for a couple of years mostly without any problems. Sometimes an article is not perfectly duplicated when isolated and enlarged. When that happens, I simply pinch and enlarge the page on my iPad and read it as it was printed originally, which is how I read the comics section. The only disadvantage is not being able to do the crossword and other puzzles.

Convenient news coverage. I’m able to keep up on things 900 miles away

Love to keep up with my “other” home town. App works well.

Great When It Works. This platform is not totally reliable. I hate getting up and trying to read the paper and it just isn’t there. Never have this problem with other media apps.

Great local reporting especially re school board!. I am really enjoying my subscription!

Good read; poor service. It’s the right paper for Sarasota and environs but very difficult to subscribe to with no live local contact and a limited web system.

Worst news app ever. I have subscribed but it never recognizes my subscription. It may last a day or two but then it keeps asking me to subscribe again. Absolutely ridiculous!

Notifications are Great!. I think the notifications they send me are appropriate and always timely. Even if I don’t read the whole article, I get the gist of what is going on in our community.

Decent App. The app works a lot better than the website.

Godawful. If you want to jack up your blood pressure put this app on your phone. It’ll give you a clear vision of why Gatehouse wants to lower their readership count in Sarasota. Can’t you get on it but while it says you haven’t paid, the rain of ads is non stop. And don’t think Customer Service can fix it. Amazingly attitude in the face of real news outlets that work effortlessly. Don’t add THIS LOSER! There ARE local news feeds.

Fantastic source of what's on in Sarasota. Great paper,

Pay to use? NO THANKS. There’s a world of free and reliable newsfeeds. To ask for an annual subscription is outrageous.

CustomerBor. App is not updating

New app. I wish I had kept my old app. I opted for the new one and regret it. I don’t like it.

App. Love the app. Quick and easy

Herald Tribune. Terrible app. Does not work and wastes my time.

Herald Tribune. Left wing editorial slant

App. This app is terrible. Worst newspaper app I have used. Much worse than old app.

New app is terrible. ENewspaper mode is almost non-functional.

Awesome news updates. Love the Herald Tribune!!

Sarasota Herald Tribune. Great newspaper for Sarasota and the surrounding area. Love the thorough reporting and opinions on politics.

Handy. This version loads faster, otherwise, it's the same as the old application. Some stories still do not fully load when selecting a title, but other glitches have been fixed.

Horrible app. Frustrating every day. What good is a newspaper if one can’t read it. I’m paying $15 per month for aggravation.

Missing the old APP. The new and “improved” added blue arrows, smaller pages, and pop-up adds…what’s not to hate about that? Please bring back the old version. This one stinks.

Ok, marginally better. At least now you can see the pictures.

No stars for you. This is one of the worst apps to use and doesn’t deserve even 1 star. Go back to your previous application.

Herald-Tribune. Why? Why take a really good app and make it smaller on the IPad. Looks very unprofessional. Sorry I loaded the new version. Please go back to the old one,

Articles only partially load. Generally the app works well but some articles never fully load. In particular, ones with recipes. The the beginning of the article is fine, but the actual recipe that goes with the article is not accessible. It appears to come after an embedded ad which is stuck at the bottom of the screen. The ad may change but can never scroll past it. The recipe is visible on my computer, so the problem is with the app.

W. L. Tokajer. Great article Thanks

Deceiving. Very unethical and deceitful to offer a 6 mo digital membership for .99 cents and then charge the consumer $9.99 for one month instantly. I will fight your unethical business model. You will never get my business again.

Horrible. Can’t find anything easy to read. Crossword puzzle tries to make me pay for some.

Not an improvement. Really disappointed with this design, the obituary section is a joke. Really miss the days when the Herald-Tribune WAS this areas GREAT morning newspaper .

Love the update. Nice and clean.

Horrible. Never works, never has worked. Subscribe to the physical paper and getting the digital version is impossible. Considering stopping the physical paper now.

Bugs never get fixed. Nearly every time a different story than the one I selected is opened (usually the one 2-3 stories below). Then when I go back and try again to open it the story is mixed with the originally unwanted story. The only way to stop this is to shut the app down completely and start over, but it usually just does it again. This has gone on for well over a year. I had hoped it would've been corrected when the new version was released. Apparent lack of support by developer. I'm about to delete the app and just go to a bookmarked page through Safari.

Horrible. Why did you change it? It is awful

Impossible to cancel after trial. There is no way to cancel other than calling your credit card after the trial ends

Herald-Tribune. Super spot! Read it daily.

Sarasota Herald-Tribune. Comics not available If not fixed I will cancel subscription

Sarasota Herald-Tribune. 5 stars

Review. Informative on local issues and sports. However, it’s the same liberal ideology and nonsense repeated by the left.

Herald Tribune. Easy to use, look at it daily! WV Bred

What happened to the old app with blue background.. Don’t like new app.

Good Photos. Every day

Obits. Why can’t I find local obituaries?

Off line. Can’t figure out how to read H-T after I log on and presumably downloading it. And are no longer on the internet . Thanks

Constant login problems. Over the time I’ve attempted to utilize Herald Tribune app I have incurred constant ant frequent login failures using iPhone stored passwords. Now attempting to delete my HT account and re-establish it to see if the account and the app will then connect. Another hassle.

Solution. This app is very good if you want the news highlights in an easy to read format. There is a second app for the paper version-it's on the app store as Sarasota Herald Tribune eEdition. I use that to read the digital version of the paper. I don't care for the navigation of the newest version, but it is workable.

Ed channell. I enjoy the paper most mornings

Doesn’t let me sign in with my paid subscription. Worthless app if you can’t use your paid subscription.

Like the straight news. But not the obviously slanted political stuff is garbage

Great News App. Well written news on interesting and important topics. I especially like the essays of Tom Lyons and the business column of Lauren Rudd. The app is easy to use, loads quickly, and it has nice layout and not too many ads.

Terrible! 0 stars. I was right in the middle of an article today when the page went black! I deleted and reinstalled the app, and the new version is a mess! No index, no sections, no pages- I want to read a newspaper, not be entertained with a bunch of pictures and old articles gathered from sundry sources! I guess I will have to go back to reading the paper and ink version that is delivered in the morning. I used to enjoy being able to read my own version on my iPad while my husband read the paper version.

Good experience, great content. Many news apps look alike. What the Herald-Tribune does better than anyone is connect community news without missing a beat on their top-level investigative work.

Waste of Money. Does not work, displays “this article only for subscribers” even when your signed in.

Worst newspaper app ever. Just plain does not work well. Although I subscribed several sections not “for subscribers only”. Very difficult to navigate

Terrible with an iPad. This doesn’t work well with an iPad.

Great. Thanks for staying on top of storm info

Great. Love to read

Sarasota Herald Tribune. Good coverage of local news.

FINDING A BALANCE. The best thing the Herald-Tribune gave to its community, the State, and possibly the whole country was an investigative report on elder care. This is big time! More interesting articles and analysis of local, state and national issues are needed. Local news has its place - it's the potatoes. Herald-Tribune, it's time to grow up and get more meat in your paper! Keep up the good work!

Terrible. Terrible service
