News Explorer Comments & Reviews 2026

It’s ok. I downloaded this app because I’m an RSS junkie and I’m tired of paying for and aggregator service (not to mention I’m ready to go back to having my OPML list being private). I’ve used most of the apps but Reeder requires an aggregator for syncing devices and NetNewsWire doesn’t do local syncing (yet) so iCloud sync was very attractive and it does work well. My complaint is with the UI, specifically how the app hides the UI in the article view. I’ve had more than one occasion where the UI disappears in the article view and nothing I do will make it reappear leaving me to scroll article by article. The back button should be persistent and there should be an option to skip to the next article in article view without having to scroll all the way through the article. Finally the way the app handles inline comment boxes is very frustrating-talking specifically about Slashdot here-you either scroll the comments or close the app entirely if you swipe in the wrong place. Don’t get me wrong, this app is better than most but still needs refinement. You may find you like it but I’m going back to NNW to wait for iCloud sync. UPDATE: Responding to the developer, yes, I understand how it should work. What I’m saying is that it doesn’t work that way consistently. When I finally gave up it was because I could not make the UI appear AT ALL. Every time I opened the app it would open in article view with no UI to go anywhere else. This even persisted after force quitting the app. If I have to reinstall the app just to make it work the way it should, I might as well reinstall an app without this kind of issue. FWIW, I didn’t have this problem on my iPad. Really puzzling to me: swiping from article to article is a thing, so why not a swipe to get back to the articles list? It’s a pretty common “go back” gesture in lots of apps.

Something happened and it simply stopped working. UPDATE: I finally had to delete this app from all my devices because it simply began refusing to sync. Sometimes I would let it go for an hour and it would not sync my feeds. The app would lock up and I would have to force quit. It also cause some websites to think I was a robot trying to access the site and force me to solve a captcha just to read an article. My other news readers don’t do this. I tried EVERYTHING I could find on the dev’s website and nothing. I have no idea what happened but this clean, efficient app simply does not work any longer on my iPhone, iPad, or iMac. Sorry I had to abandon it. This, quite simply, the best RSS news reader I have ever seen. With two very reasonable, non-subscription purchases, I have News Explorer running on EVERY Apple device I own. No third party account is needed (uses iCloud for syncing). Responses from the dev are quick, helpful, and friendly. Please support this developer and product.

Won’t accept url. I really want to like this app, however, it will not accept my self-hosted URL while other apps will. NE states it is an invalid URL. I then logged into the RSS feed on Safari and attempted to use the ‘add to news explorer’ extension, but that is nowhere to be found. There is a News Explorer button under ‘more’ that takes me to NE, but doesn’t load the feed. The extension also does not show up in Safari as available or needing enabled.

Every feature I wanted. Swipe controls, excellent full screen view, multiple reader modes, article view, pinch to zoom, options for everything I want to customize, I could go on. There are a couple other good news readers. I've used them. This one has all their best features and then some.

Used to be leading edge, now trailing in a number of ways.. When News Explorer came onto the scene many moons ago, it was a terrific example of a world-class RSS reader with support for a variety of things other readers couldn’t touch, and some great ideas behind a self-hosted/iCloud solution with rich notifications. Since then, intermittent, but persistent bugs have eventually crept in as the author updated compatibility from iOS release to iOS release, but never took a step back to rethink things. As a result, you will see persistent issues if you’re a heavy RSS user, where navigating screens between articles will eventually lock up until you force-quit the app, or you notice a now very-dated UI language in the app. Finally, one of the core tenets of this app is that it works across all of Apple’s platforms. That may sound like a good thing, but the support is far from capable. It’s a meaningless feature for tvOS and watchOS, for example - the UX and design is so poor as to make it nothing more than an afterthought. This app was terrific in its heyday. It’s far from that now. It needs a serious redesign and rethink and needs to evolve. I hated leaving News Explorer for other RSS readers…but once you try an actual modern RSS reader with a modern UI paradigms (see Reeder for example), News Explorer just looks so dated. I want to come back to News Explorer - if/when the author takes the time to rethink this app and refocus it. Do NOT support a platform for the sake of saying you support it - provide first-class features.

Not “another” news app. Clean interface, fast response, great design. I was using the macOS app first and loved it so much I wanted to try this app and am not disappointed. Maybe get a “trial” going for people, because no doubt they’ll purchase! 👏🏽👏🏽🤙🏽

Only 3 days loads (((. I read the news only once a week, for example on Saturday, but when I open application news loads only for the last 3 days, it's upsets me a lot ((( I want to download all the news for a week from one source, not just for 3 days. What should I do? Help me please

Mark As Read Issues. Overall, I like this news reader. There are many source options. I don’t turn to it as my primary reader because of the Mark as Read issues. When I try to mark articles, or an entire news source, as read using the button - it is very inconsistent on whether it will work or not. Sometimes articles will immediately be marked as read, and sometimes I could tap the button ten times and nothing will happen.

Outstanding options. Suggestions —>. 1. Add ability to filter/save searches into “smart” folders 2. Add ability to tag. Ideally tagging a parent feed will pass on to child articles. 3. Add ability to add a single feed to multiple folders (Eg: WSJ:politics goes into Politics AND News folders). This will differentiate from all the other major RSS competitors. I’ve tried them all!

Decent app but browsing through articles is cumbersome. I have feeds from various news sites and Reddit, And the "next" button is at the bottom left corner.. And operating with one hand is nearly impossible because it is too close to left thumb and too far from the right thumb.. and there is open space in the middle! I asked the developer to make the UI better (by moving the next/previous buttons to the center) or make it customizable.. but the developer declined. Other than the UI elements.. the app is very good.. but UI needing two hands and developer response made me give 2 stars to the app!

Top rate. The developer really took the time to realize what a reader should be like. This app is everything that I wanted. Low overhead and no fluff of the other "subscription" models while allowing for ease of use in adding your own sources. Add in a small thing like true dark mode and it's very enjoyable experience.

Love this app. I have been using various RSS readers for many many years at this point using aggregators like feedly after google shut their RSS service down. I have been using the Reeder app for iOS and Mac for the most part (also excellent) but I moved everything over to this app. I love that it illuminates the dependency on feedly, end it works seamlessly and like butter across all of my iOS devices. Meanwhile the RSS reader features are great as well including the various ways to mark articles as read Amongst all the other configuration options. I am looking forward to a little bit more functionality on the watch app as I like to use that when I’m waiting in line at a store or at a stoplight or whatever. Nice job developers

Please bring.... Ability to mute certain posts by keywords. For example, I don't want to read news about the Kardashians from my favorite news source. I want those posts to automatically be muted and not appearing in the feed. Can you please add the ability to hide/mute by keywords? This is the only thing missing to be a 5 stars app.

BEST Aggregator on the market!!!!. This is the best. All your news, twitter, technology, information, recipe pies feeds in one app. Look at everything at once or individual. Add what you want or search for what you want and add it. Sync it, you name it, this app is great!!

You Can Filter Feeds!. For whatever reason most RSS readers, don’t let you filter your feed unless you pay a monthly or yearly subscription fee. News Explorer lets you filter out parts of the RSS feed! That simple feature is key in eliminating ads or sponsorship content and irrelevant posts.

Finally, a worthy contender. I’ve been looking everywhere and trying so many different RSS reader apps. I’ve been on a quest to replace Inoreader since the price went up. It’s a great tool, but it’s just not worth that much to me. I don’t need all of the fancy bells and whistles they’ve added to it. I don’t need the AI. What News Explorer gives me is the right balance of features and functionality that work for me on all of my devices. It’s been a great tool for me. The interface is great. I’m so glad I found this!

RSS and Read Later. It's great for managing and reading RSS feeds. I've also added my Instapaper RSS feed, so it's become my Read Later app as well, cutting down on the number of apps I have to use to consume news and information. I'm hoping for more color theme options in the future.

The Best!. My favorite news aggregator! An excellent product with all the features and functionalities gathered in a professional way, elegant and that offers a light years user experience ahead of others. Congratulations!

Great but for God’s sake, please change the next story button to the right side.. I just downloaded this on my Mac and phone. I absolutely love it except for one issue. I’m right handed and when I hold my gigantic iPhone, I can’t use my right thumb to reach all the way across to the left side to hit up and down to show next or previous stories. It would be amazing if you could build in the ability to switch that based on whether you’re right handed or left-handed. Otherwise, this is the one app that stole me away from Reeder Classic ❤️😵‍💫

The Best Independent RSS App. I don’t write many reviews, but when I do I like to write them for apps that are above and beyond. This app and all it’s variance to include the MAC version are fantastic. The fact that it leverages the iOS “Spotlight” feature that allows me to search for articles via iOS vs in app is a godsend and I don’t know why more RSS apps don’t do this. The design is approachable and it has more than enough customization and options where it gives you control without being intimidating. My favorite features are the ability to search through IOS or through the app, the gallery view for images in an article, the timeline view for quickly getting an overview of your material, Twitter integration and last but not least is the per feed notifications!!!! There are plenty others but those are the top features I love. If you want to break away from Feedly and other services this app is the best solution that I have found. It’s better than Newsify, Reeder and Fiery Feeds. I love that it syncs through iOS which doesn’t require you to have an account. It also doesn’t have a subscription so it’s a one time purchase and you are done. This is huge for many people who want more control over their content and don’t want to pay a monthly subscription for a service. Here are the weaknesses of the app: The design is approachable but not as beautiful as something like Reeder. Sometimes it can feel a bit clunky, where Reeder glides this app throttles a bit. It currently doesn’t allow you to fully access Pocket material. It allows you to save articles to pocket through the app, but it doesn’t allow you to full view things in your Pocket like Fiery Feeds or Reeder. No tagging articles when saving and no Read it Later function. I hope these items are addressed in the feature as I feel it having it’s own read it later feature with tagging will allow me to break away form pocket and use News Explorer as my all in one solution. Lastly, please make a more minimal icon and allow a Sepia theme. The current blinding white or pitch black themes feel limiting. The current icon for the app just looks dated and not really modern design. Aside from those small grips this app is fantastic and it’s well worth the cost. Thank you to the dev team you guys have made a heck of app and service. I hope development continues as this truly is the best independent RSS solution in the App Store.

Just switched from Reeder. Great app! Definitely a fresh quick and nice UI. Takes time to adjust to some things after switching from reeder. Some suggestions: 1. Allow to sync the settings. For example I like to mark as read right after I open the article. I have a few macs, and just going through the settings is a bit annoying. 2. Everything is about AI, I believe you can just get very small ML Model like llama 3.2 1b and use it to summarize the articles similar how Safari does it. Will be a great feature.

Really like the new update. The new release with mastodon support is so slick. iCloud sync seems faster as well. It’s so nice to see an update. This app has held my news and blogs and other rss stuff for years. Now with mastodon support I can take rss feeds for accounts I want. Nice!

Great app. I have used various RSS apps and this is hands down my favorite. It’s fast and reliable . I am a precious feedly user and discovered this app when they got behind a paywall. Wish I had discovered it sooner

Needs read later share. A missing feature in this app is ability to share an article to it as a read later feature. It also needs some basic AI functionality such as summarizing an article which can use the built-in device AI or possibly my own, LLM.

still my favorite RSS (and more) reader. I've been using this app since around 2015. It's fantastic. Every now and then I try another one, but I keep coming back. If there's ever an issue, support is extremely quick to respond.

Great App. This is by far the best news app I have used throughout the years. I highly recommend it to any news junkie no matter the type news you enjoy. Only draw back is no web client or windows 10 app.

Great newsreader. I recently switched to this one after a decade or more with Feedly. Got fed up with Feedly's shift toward an elusive corporate market. News Explorer works great and has most of the features of Feedly. Thankfully no AI, which produced the weirdest nonsense with Feedly. Couple of things and I would be as happy as can be: * Separate view options per feed. For some feeds I just want to see the headline, for others a magazine view works best * Ability to forward newsletters to the app. This is a Feedly feature I'm sorely missing. * Streamline the viewer engines. I don't really get why there are three or so options for viewing a page.

Great for staying up to date with news!. I checked out multiple RSS feed readers before deciding on this one. It’s very straightforward and easy to use, does a good job of organizing my feeds and doesn’t have the distracting clutter of many RSS feed readers. Keep up the great work!

Great app just keeps improving. Great News reader. Period. Hands down, best I’ve been able to find, and the best since Net NewsWire circa 2009. Structured list reading however *you* want to set it up. If you’re like me and you want to read the feeds you know you want to read, not some machine-learning “tell me about your interests” thing... this is for you. Subscriptions are all local too - no third party cloud server back end, no account to create. It’s 100% on your devices. Phenomenal support. The dev responds quickly to support emails, and continues to refine and rev the product. Sync is solid and fast and uses iCloud. Worked great on my iPhone 6 and iPhone X, works great on my iPhone 12 Pro, iPad mini, and MBP. i use this app to keep up on my industry, and the world, every single day. If you read news, you owe it to yourself to download and try it out.

Finally. This is it.. Wow. Finally. I'm a UI snob. I've used RSS since it was developed. I've used the iPad since is was introduced, and instantly I realized it was the perfect RSS reading device. And now, after all this time, I've finally found an app that meets my expectations. I wanted something that uses as much core Apple technologies and UI style as possible. I wanted flexible themes text sizes. I didn't want the UI to be "unique". The best design is "invisible" meaning you don’t notice it because you're fully engaged with your task, and it's not getting in your way. This is it. It's not without fault. Putting feeds in folders is a total pain. But that's something you do rarely. I'm giving it a pass and 5 stars because it is much better than the competition, and allowed me to drop an aggregator subscription. I even had an excellent interaction with support (the dev himself) when I couldn't figure out my OPML file. He showed me what I was doing wrong. Bravo.

Best feed reader on the App Store. I owed this review. Not only is this the best feed reader on the App Store, you can buy it standalone instead of renting it. And, it doesn’t harvest your data. The refreshed version was also a free upgrade and the few times I’ve had questions, the developer has responded to emails within minutes. It’s incredibly rare to find an app like this.

The best there is.. The title says it all. I’ve tried numerous RSS feed readers….This one can take just about anything you can throw at it. It’s great….and let’s not even get into customization…..the things you can change around and tweak with satisfy the pickiest of nerd….this app has a permanent home on this iPhone. Thanks devs!

This is a fantastic RSS reader. No subscription required, and it keeps getting every feature I could want. This is truly a well supported app. Two niggles: the starred, all, and unread items in the sidebar and bottom of the screen confuse me because you can get in odd stated (ie “unread starred items” and that’s usually not what I want. Also: I really dislike the iOS icon. The big blurred N grates in my home screen.

Love the app - liked the old icon :). I love the app. It’s been solid and syncs perfectly between my iPad and iPhone. The feature additions have been very welcome. Photo handling in-line has gotten slouch better over the years. I did like the old app icon much better than your new one though :) and if that’s the only complaint a user can come up with, you’re doing a great job. Thanks for the app. I use it constantly.

Nice UI, tons of useful custom settings, easy to use. This is one of my favorite RSS readers. I love its simple UI, because it is so friendly to users. Compared to other RSS reader apps, it has more available minor tweaks that can be tailored to your particular template with your favorite font, font-size, line-height , read mode, etc. And it’s smooth and effective both on iPad and iPhone, I can enjoy the pure RSS reading without any disturbance. Finally, I must thank developer for keeping releasing update. 👍

Absolutely worth the price. I tried a couple of RSS readers and settled on this one. It took me a bit to configure the app to my liking, but after you get it set up it just works. The interface is customizable, articles are comfortable to read, and there’s no subscription. Your data just syncs with iCloud. The watch app is greatly appreciated too, it can show full article text and works well. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten more value out of an app, I use it every day and don’t regret it

Articles Don’t Stay “Read”. Love the design and was even willing to forgo a web viewer to use this app. The problems I had were that the sync when you open the app is incredibly slow and that I’d mark all items in a feed as read and hours later when I looked again I’d have new items in feeds as well as the items I’d marked as read previously showing as unread. Incredibly frustrating.

No Inoreader support. News Explorer is a good RSS app, but I use Inoreader as a backend. I was disappointed to realize there's no sync support for it. Unfortunately, the app forces you to use iCloud which isn't an viable option because I have filters in place on Inoreader before they reach client apps. News Explorer devs should focus on adding sync support for Inoreader, Feedly and others because quite frankly, pretty much every other app provides this.

The Best for RSS. This is the best news feed reader out there, and I’ve tried them all. It doesn’t require you to create an account, has no subscription fees, and syncs/works across all your iOS and macOS devices. Plus the developer is super responsive and keeps up with all the latest iOS features. My only request would be for a universal search from within the app. But you can always exit the app and search from Siri... so 🤷‍♂️.

Best newsreader app. Excellent app! I love how easy it is to add sources and organize them in the app. The only suggestions I’d have are the ability for custom icons for folders I create and the ability to maybe search for new sources based off of topics instead of having to just know which ones to add myself.

The Best Way to Follow All Kinds of News. News Explorer is ten times more powerful and customizable and infinitely more affordable than our favorite fruit company’s expensive News+ service.

Best RSS Reader. Hands down the best reader app, with updates coming often as of v2.x. Having tried every other major reader/rss app from “best rss reader” lists, this is the only one that I actually like. Also respects your privacy, which is so important these days.

New Filters are 👍👍. I really like News Explorer, but started exploring other options recently because I was looking for the filtering. Well, I found some other options that included this. I was super excited when News Explorer released a new version that has fantastic filtering. This really helps me refining my newsfeeds and I’ve abandoned exploring other options and double down with News Explorer. It’s an excellent News reading app and has great formatting option. The only thing that would make this better is text to voice.

Missing refresh button that was on the bottom right. Been using and loving it now for a few years or so on my iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Easy to use and feds synched across all 3 platforms. The last version however removed the refresh button from the lower right when in the Unread Items screen. Yes, there is resync on the left but I do not want to resync, I just want to refresh my unread list easily to determine if there are any unread left. Please bring it back Update: developer responded informing where refresh is located now. Works great!!!

Amazing app. Every time I go to use this app I’m always pleasantly surprised by how it’s able to do everything that I set out to accomplish. There’s no searching around for what I’m looking for, or trying to find workarounds. This app is incredibly well thought out and the settings are so detailed I felt it was actually worth the time to write this review. Of all the RSS readers I tried before settling on this one, I have zero regrets that I went with this app. Everyone should be aware of it and how great it is.

Internet Zen. Big pros: 1. Everything is just smooth, clean, and works so well. 2. Keyboard functionality on Mac is handy. 3. The appearance customization is excellent. Menu bar, dock icon, notifications, thumbnails, lines of text, spacing, etc is all so great. 3. The timeline view is handy for certain use cases, like viewing news broadly or browsing movie releases. Features I'd request for the future (to keep up with other reader apps and the personal knowledge management trend): 1. Custom read/unread keep dates for different folders. 2. Subfolders, please!!! You'd be a pioneer for RSS readers. 3. Bionic reading. 4. PDF import. 5. Highlights/annotations, with a smart folder of all highlighted articles. 6. The ability to copy all highlights or sync them to note apps like Obsidian. 7. Rules/filtering, like including or excluding specific keywords. 8. Newsletter functionality, like an auto-generated email to be able to send newsletters to the app. 9. Text to speech audio that works during phone lock. Auto-jumps to next post. 10. Tagging, such as manually setting them when adding the RSS. 11. Reading progress for abandoned articles. Maybe in the post preview or in their own top folder/section, with the percentage that is complete for the post. Thanks again for everything in the app so far, it's a pleasure to use!

Excellent. Really happy with the performance and usability… a quest to support was answered within a few hours and a solution provided (it was user error, not the application) - highly recommended.

Best RSS Reader I’ve Ever Used. NewsExplorer has an intuitive interface and good organization. You can see all unread articles from all the different sources on the same screen or just focus on one at a time. It syncs to my Mac and Apple Watch and iPad. Best of all, it has a fair pricing model. Buy it once and use it forever! I’m so fatigued by those subscription apps out there trying to eat away at my paycheck.

Multiple Sources is Fantastic. The ability to add sources from many platforms saves time and the interface is easy to use.

Great RSS app. This is a highly customizable and useful RSS app. Syncing works well across devices. It would be nice to have a few more theme color options, and also to be able to specify which themes to use when the system is on light or dark mode (currently the switching is rather limited between a subset of themes). There are also a few UI peculiarities: The back button has different text depending on the name of the currently active folder/feed: “News Explorer” with an arrow when the name is long, “Back” and an arrow when it’s medium length, and just a back arrow when the name is long. It would be nice if it were just consistently a back arrow. It would be helpful to be able to set the margin for articles as well. It’s also somewhat distracting when loading articles from a feed that is set to use a Reader mode because it shows the RSS content briefly while loading. Some sort of loading animation or a blank screen would be less distracting while the Reader view is loading in such cases. I’d appreciate an option to show the Mark as Read button. In the lower left/right of the article list (at least on iPhone). Overall it’s a really great RSS app, and I’m glad to have found it.

Almost Perfect. Great RSS reader. It does everything I want it to and more. I bought it for the iCloud sync, which works great. I was fed up with either paying for a syncing service or giving away my data to the likes of Feedly. Think about it. With a list of the feeds you subscribe to and which articles you save and star, they can build a pretty good profile to sell your data to advertisers and who knows what else. With News Reader you don’t need any third parties collecting your data. It’s all within iCloud. The only thing I don’t like, and as petty as it sounds, it does drive me a bit insane, is that the app icon is horrendous. Seriously, get a good designer to create something nice. This one is the worst looking icon on my devices.

best feed reader for me. after using for a couple of months now, I think the overall functions and appearance of this reader is best suited to me than other readers. I love the design which nicely balances tailoring to individual preferences with overall appearance. It is my preferred news & feed content consumption on the ipad. The apple-orientated design principles are there in way that surpasses other cluttered and unnecessarily complex readers.

Love Apple TV Support. Excellent RSS reader that supports the entire Apple ecosystem. The Apple TV app is a standout feature and something no other RSS app offers, which I use for YouTube feeds. I’d love to see Top Shelf support added in a future update.

My Go-To Reader App but still needs work. I really enjoy using NewsExplorer for so many reasons however a couple of issues still persist and continue to detract from the user experience. Firstly is the refresh times and the inability for background refresh to work as described. Secondly is the regular freezing of the app, typically upon opening for the first time but often whilst in the middle of reading articles. I also use the Mac version of the app and have none of these issues. Keen to see these issues resolved in a future update.

Better and better .. Always underrated this newsreader just improved both in look and usability with version 2 .

Needs improvement. Not as good as the price and description promises but I just tried the top 20 serverless RSS readers on the App Store and this is the best so far. Feedback: - some feeds just never load any content - no export subscriptions to OPML option

Great non-server solution for RSS reading. The reading experience of the app is quite good, but it is let down by an unreliable and opaque sync system. It seems I can never get this iOS version to accurately sync article status with the Mac version. I hope some further refinement will improve this, as this app seems the best option for getting away from a subscription-based server-side solution. *UPDATE*: Based on developer response and improved subsequent performance I have upgraded my rating. A few interface enhancements and beautification would push this to 5 stars.

Doesn’t work as described. I am not receiving any notifications for a website whose feed is perfectly operable on other apps. Money back please. I didn’t get what I paid for.

Excellent news reader. I recently started using News Explorer on the Mac after becoming more and more dissatisfied with the RSS reader I was using. It took next to no time to decide to buy the Mac and the iOS version. The reader views are fantastic, the iCloud syncing of feeds allowed me to stop using Feedly, and the ability to read comments on articles in app is great, particularly for Reddit feeds.

Not useful, outdated. Doesn’t keep original formatting, had other problems, apple won’t refund.

Pleasant surprise. Recently switched to News Explorer from Feedly and I couldn’t be happier. Opened my app today and saw the new action buttons at the bottom of my feed (v1.9.3). Thanks for those! I knew I wanted such a feature, but to find them there one morning having yet asked for them gets you five stars.

Wonderful app. The best rss reader ever!!

Best RSS feed app!. This app is worth every penny! In case any of you reading are wondering this app does have pip mode for youtube videos. Works wonderfully. Built in reader mode,

Worth it!. Normally, I only buy apps if there is a way to try them before (free version or trial). So I did tons of research before buying this one and seing the positive feedbacks, I bit the bullet. I am very happy that I did as it has everything I need and the one-time purchase (no subscription) makes it very affordable. A big thank you to the developers!

Males the internet better. News sites, subreddits and YT channels all without ads, in a simple and customizable interface? Heck yeah!

Great app. but give me the option to set swipes. You have to swipe a bit, then tap on “More” then tap “Mark as Unread”. I just want to swipe as unread! 5 stars when swipe actions can be changed. I wondered about the swipes. It does take from Mail swipes, but only in one direction, the opposite of what I had set up! I just have to train myself to swipe the other direction now!

This 5 star for the developer. Whenever you submit your feedbacks to developer they normally get ignored but really impressed that my recent feedback got heard so soon and they have implemented total black for X and have an option to reduce the title size. Thanks.

Superb RSS Reader. Seems like NE 2.0 is upcoming. Love the new Unread count at the top of the page - latest update. All we’re missing is Sort by Unread (Folders and Feeds). No prob whatsoever shelling out more money for big updates to support the excellent Dev (We’d say no to Subcriptions though; we have enough of them).

Review. Excellent app for wide range of sources of news

Use it daily. Miss only one thing. If it could translate entries without having to open and dig menu to do it it could be perfect. I follow some Japanese feeds and it’s a bit of a pain to translate. But other than that I love this app.

Simple yet customizable. Tried half a dozen rss apps on iOS and OS X, each one had some sort of dealbreaker issue while doing most things right. It comes down to personal preference on what works for you. This one is simple, customizable, has all the important features and functions, doesn’t try to upsell you for more features, and most importantly it renders text and images very well. One purchase covers your for iPad and iOS devices.

Yes, you should buy this. Well worth the money

Simply the best RSS reader!. Tried them all. News Explorer is the best definitely the best. Love the deep Twitter integration! Great for following YouTube feeds too!

Tried them all.. News Explorer is the best. No doubt.

One of The Best RSS Readers. News Explorer is a highly capable RSS reeder that utilizes iCloud sync and supports RSS, ATOM, JSON, and Twitter feeds. The application is responsive and looks good on all the supported platforms. Sync is pretty quick, though doesn’t offer the performance some competitors do by allowing a single instance to do the RSS fetching while the others just sync with iCloud. Article display is great with a variety of typography options to tweak it to your preference, while alternative views such as slideshows and a “timeline” view are nice additions. The app feels at home on iOS devices and has continued to get a bit quicker, more stable, and pleasant to use over time. One notable omission for a modern iOS app is shortcut support. I’d love to see the ability to use Shortcuts to filter articles by folder/feed/status and be able to do things like get their title, URL, and mark/unmark them as read. All in all, News Explorer is a really solid RSS app that’s available across all the Apple platforms. I’m not sure if it’s “the best” at any one aspect, but it’s easily one of the best contenders as an all-around RSS feed reader.

Great app but text size is so small on apple watch. Is there any way to make the font size larger on apple watch? The current size is hard to read on apple watch.

$5 well spent. Once set up this is by far the best RSS app I have ever owned. Thank you for this awesome app that lets me get my news from my chosen sources without all the ads or popups that my adblocker is on. Highly recommended

tvOS app cannot play YouTube video in app. Which is unfortunately my main reason to use an RSS reader for YouTube. The iOS app works perfectly, but the tvOS app redirects to the YouTube app for video playback, which completely defeats the purpose.

No Compromises. This is the RSS client that does it all. Top-notch reliability. Available on all my devices, PLUS iCloud sync. Native design language. It’s a dream.

Issue with Icon change. Love the app but noticed none of the icon changes are working for me on IPhone 15PM IOS 17.4. Thanks!

Excellent. Very Nice.

Best for curating your own news. This app is the best for curating your own news from sources on rss, Twitter, etc. If you’re a news junkie like me, this is the app to get.

Fantastic Feedly-free RSS reader. So far so good. This app is fantastic, providing great iCloud syncing. For those that don't want to rely on a service like Feedly with its limitations on the free side, this might be your best bet here.

购买后为什么MAC上还需要付费呢. 购买后为什么MAC上还需要付费呢

Works Great!. I have been using the desktop version for a while on SetApp. I decided to try the iOS version and am very impressed, the interface is clean and the sync 'just worked' without me even having to do anything. My only newsreader now.

Great app, but NYT.... Love this app, but The NY Times feed is two days old.

Sync?. News Reader kept loosing sync between my iPhone and iPad until I changed sync priority (thanks dev response). The app is now a replacement for my previous rss reader. Bonus, it works with Appletv.

One super annoying feature.. Leaving a 2 star review of an otherwise excellent app, because apparently if I don’t leave a rating, it will continue to interrupt me with a pop up asking me to rate it. Careful what you ask for.

LOST ALL DATA!. I had to eventually abandon this too. iCloud syncing makes me lose ALL of my edited feeds and ALL starred articles!

Sick of endless subscriptions? This is the RSS reader for you.. Can’t express how long I’ve been looking for an RSS like reader like this. So far I have not found any compromises. It works across all my devices utilizing iCloud, I have many blogs, Twitter feeds, YouTube channels/subscriptions all categorized in folders and organized. Love it.

Almost perfect. Great interface design and near perfect user experience. A mediocre icon is the only element preventing me from providing a 5/5 rating.

Push notifications never worked. I tried this RSS reader for the push notifications but outside of the test in the settings it never works. The app support has never responded to my request for assistance. I would like a refund.

Review Nagging. Nagging for a review, especially frequently, is obnoxious. I think I’d spend more time on things like making sure the avatar image you are showing for a feed post is the correct avatar.

Hmm. Useful but a bit buggy.

Best news reader. Works on ALL my Apple devices, even AppleTV! Learned about it from the fine folks at mac360.com. Update: Sorry to say that mac360 is gone :( The app still works great!

Darker widgets. I like this app but would love to have some darker, blacker widgets.

Great RSS reader. This is the best RSS reader I’ve ever had and I’ve had many!

Update: even better. Updated review: wow. Just wow. The 2.0 update is insanely wonderful so far. It’s faster, smoother, and it looks great (fonts, layout, interface). Well done! Still my reigning champion RSS reader. Original review: I’ve had this app for over 5 years and absolutely love it. The presentation and navigation are superb and I love the offerings and customizations I can do. Highly recommend. The latest update seems to have affected some websites being parsed with the Mercury reader. Stuff that used to render fine is either blank or missing text/images. A few examples are on lithub.com, science news.org, sententiaeantiquae.com. All of these rendered fine without using the Mercury reader before this update but now need the reader but still are a little messed up.

Not working on Ultra. App dosent show up for install in Iwatch 9.51

Downloading snapshot…. I have to wait more than 5 times every time I use the app on other device. There’s an issue with the navigation when resuming the app that is not resolved yet as well.

No twitter support. Great update! I just wish it supported X feed :/

New App. Do not like it.

Meh. I love the idea..no more feedly, incredible. I just don’t like the News Explorer app as much as Reeder 4. I’m going back to Reeder.

Absolutely the Best RSS Reader. This is the best RSS Reader you will find and use. Go ahead and drop Feedly.

Sync. Sync is wonky and background refreshing never works for me. It only refreshes when I launch the app.

Can’t mark as read. After last update can’t mark articles as read in iOS 11.4.

iCloud Sync is what I wanted. I love the app. It does everything I want, and lets me avoid using a sync service other than iCloud. Great.

Simple, yet dynamic!. News Explorer sources ALL publications, not just main stream and politically correct news. Numerous other RSS apps "couldn't find" (sensored) feeds such as Zero Hedge, RT, Fulcrum, etc. You can configure many preferences in IOS Settings, including the removal of badge notifications (annoying), folders, sync, refresh, font, etc. The formatting is simple and easy to use. The app begins with tutorial notices that get you set up quickly. You can input URLs or search for RSS feeds and News Explorer will find it if it exists. You do not need an account to use the app. No advertising. Compatible with Twitter. If you want YouTube feeds, simple search for channel or imput URL. You can create your own categories for your feeds. Really good app. Recommend buying if you are serious about multi-source news and current events and entertainment.

Wow!!!!. Works as advertised. Fast and no issues. Why pay for a sync service when we have iCloud to handle it. I would like the developer to add keyboard support otherwise it is famtastic!

Cool app. Seems good so far, but when I read my news from timeline mode, it doesnt let me read the articles in the app like in the list view? Why is this?

Please wait! News Explorer app comments loading...
